  1. We better not lose to the Zips. Will be happy coming out of this at least 2-1, but if we lose this first game, all bets are off. Hopefully the beavs play like they did against Maryland, but better because it looks like Maryland isn’t a competitive team. The Zips are the kind of feisty chip on the shoulder team that the Beavs struggle with and hopefully this one doesn’t come down to coaching.

    • If the Beavs can somehow manage to win today (I’m not expecting it) then more than likely a pasting by Iowa State tomorrow would be forthcoming.

  2. Beavs are currently 2.5 underdogs to Akron. The mightly powerhouse of Akron is giving points to the Beavers at a neutral site!!! At least Vegas has low expectations for the Beavers.

    • Does Akron have a better RPI than the Beavs? I’m too lazy to look it up, but that might be what the oddsmakers are going with. Hard to shake the Coppin St. loss also.

        • It’s games like Coppin State that give me zero confidence regardless of opponent. I would like to think that the Beavs as a Pac12 school would simply be better than these teams but obviously not. At least coach Rob is single handedly keep Arrowhead bottled water and stadium chair companies in business.

  3. Iowa State just finished off George Mason 79-67 so OSU gets ISU tomorrow with a win or George Mason with a L. Tip off pushed back to 5pm Pacific time due to previous game ending late.

    • Does anyone want to win either the NFC North or East divisions? Neither has a team with more than 8 wins currently. I get it that Chicago and GB have had injuries to their starting qb’s but Detroit and Dallas have no excuse. The fact that Dallas is trying to hand the division to cheatin chip and the Beagles is pathetic

    • Was it bad? I ha just turned the game on when they got to the 5 with ~30 seconds left and got to the 1 with 20 seconds left. And the penalty ruined it screwed the the whole thing up. I would say they pulled a remmers or more recently a Caleb smith.

      • Very bad. They were putzing around with under a minute left once they got inside the 10, then they ran the ball twice (one got called back due to penalty) with no timeouts left. The time they lost being slow at the line of scrimmage killed them, because there was a 10 second runoff due to the penalty. So the game ended on a 2nd down because they were so slow and disorganized. It was as if Green Bay thought they had all the time in the world once they got inside the ten.

      • Not really. It’s just like any management position overseeing 150-200 people… only you don’t have to worry about maintenance on facilities or purchasing, sales and shipping (if we’re talking about manufacturing). SInce this is entertainment, coaching is precisely the same as being the director of a TV show. Any schlep with industry experience can do it, and your relevance depends more on who you know than what you know.

  4. Ugly basketball! Beavs look like a JV team without a coach. I don’t know who we can beat in the Pac 12. Nelson and Collier both lackadaisical today and a number of other players are not Pac 12 caliber add to it that CR is not a Pac 12 caliber coach and it’s another embarrassingly long BB season.

  5. Jeeeeezzzzus christ! WTF is this crap again!!!! I don’t even know what to say. We have all these tall dudes who are tall, but they completely suck. My question is what are the games going to look like when we have to defend a true 2 or 3 like we’ll see in conference. We have zero point guards on this team, and that will start to become a viscous cycle of disappointment when we have to play a team like ASU with Jahii Carson or the other teams that actually have a player with ball skills. Roberta is going to get his ass handed to him again because everyone will start piling on him and he will become the human turnover machine all over again. Well, looks like it’s going to be a long winter and a lot of whiskey until baseball season…

    • Hallice Cook is a guard and will be a star. The kid is a player and a leader. He can play number one, and number two, he’s the only guy on the team with the balls to tell Eric Moreland to quit screwing around in practice and to quit being such a constant clown. I wouldn’t doubt he told him to try showing up for class occasionally as well. Cook is a serious young man.

Moreland is a friendly enough guy, and a ball player, but he isn’t the leader some people seem to think he is. I wonder where that even came from.

    • Thank God I DVRed the game and didn’t waste two hours on this live. I could tell after 10 minutes that Akron was tougher and better coached.

The ESPN team was all over the place with it’s praise for Robinson and “what a outstanding job he’s done”. The graph pointing out that he’s the 5th all time winningest coach sold me!

  6. Parker mentions the Beaver sponsor “Dutch Bros” as in Bros before hoes. I’ve always thought they were Dutch Brothers although spelled “Dutch Bros.”
Maybe theyre trying to appeal to the inner city audience? Or maybe Parker doesnt know his sponsor very well.

    • college basketball on a whole is hard to watch. I have switched to the NBA almost exclusively, because even the good college programs look inept. The atmosphere is only good thing about college basketball. Wait until conference play, you will see 10 minute stretches of absolute garbage.

  7. FYI I was just informed of this today. I had not seen this article from last spring, but by his own admission Robinson doesn’t know jack shit about defense…………….

By his own admission, he is not a good defensive coach; “I’d like to get better at the whole concept of man-to-man defense” is what he told me in January. OSU has finished last in the conference in scoring defense each of the last three years and last in field goal percentage defense two of the last three years. Robinson is not good at making in-game adjustments; OSU blew eight halftime leads this season. He’s not a good late-game coach; OSU was 1-7 in games decided by four points or less.

    • I think the article about sums it up. When you look at the numbers Robinson has not really created any significant separation from Jay John.

7-4 now, so if there’s another freefall in league play a 20 loss season is a distinct possibility. I really don’t care who the coach is, I just want to see the Beavers compete in league play again before I die.
