  1. Not sure if GA realizes how big of a game this is for him. They played Minny tough on the road last year, lose by a blow out this year at home and I think the wheels start coming off.

  2. Don’t trust our defense to hold them under 30. Critical game for Beavs and Andersen.

Calling it the Rodent Super Bowl as team eas saying CSU treated that game as their Super Bowl. If GA ever had as much on the line it is now so this better be his Super Bowl.

Little bit of rain favors Oregon St. but will come down to OSU turning it over twice by interception.

Unless Pierce gets 7+ carries I don’t think OSU wins. Think he can run for 49 yards on 7 carries.

Also will give GA’s ‘Champion’ status to any player this week smart enough to down it in the endzone. Beavs xan’t afford giving away easy free yards. Hoping Pierce takes kickoffs with maybe Tyner thrown in once for a different look and to see how he returns kicks.

57/43 run pass ratio is Beavs best bet. Below 53% we almost certainly lose.

Should be a competitive game but McGiven gets a little too pass reliant and we end up throwing on 52% of plays which is 9% above optimum and it costs OSU in a fun to watch Rodent Super Bowl.

Minny Rows the Boat out of CorVegas even with the 11 Strong unis.

    UM 31, OSU 28

P.S. Isaah Crocker if in da house gives Beavs a +2 boost

    • I’m with ya on Pierce being a key. Ditto your thought on Tyner for kick returns.
57% is at the low end of the rush target IMHO.

I’d feel better about the Beavs D if Titus were 100%, gonna be interesting to see how the ILB’s perform today too.

  3. What was the story on the sideline penalty called on slick willie today? Could it be part of willies schtick? If so it will get old if repeated every week or so.

Anyone else think it would be a worthwhile “big boy” move for Andersen to blow his stack……..at an appropriate time, of course?

    • Never thought I’d defend Swaggart but he had reason to be upset. Nebraska d lineman was trying shove Herbert’s head in the turf as he was getting up and then kind of kicked him in the helmet also. It happened in front of the official and should have been a flag. I think Swag got flagged for voicing his displeasure with the non flag on Nebraska.

      • That’s not a defense. Coaches yell stuff at refs that make normal people cringe all the time. Most likely he voiced his displeasure at the player himself. That would be highly unprofessional. If not that, then he must have said something really really horrendous to the ref.

It doesn’t matter that said player was slightly scummy and Herbert was over-acting to try for the flag. You don’t gift the opposition 15 yards.

        • I’m guessing your participation in athletics ended at t-ball. Highly unprofessional? Coaches chew officials, refs and umpires asses in all sports. Sometimes they cross the line and get a penalty, technical or ejection for their “unprofessional” behavior.

          • Wow. You don’t understand English as well?

It is highly unprofessional for a coach to address a player that is not his with some verbiage untoward.

If that’s not understandable, then I’ll stick with my apparent T-ball heritage and tell your wise and knowing ways to go fuck themselves on a bed of nails.

  4. The chrome numbers on the jerseys and beavs on the helmet looks stupid in person. Looks cheap, like bedazzling or cheap glue on glitter your daughter would use on arts and crafts.

  5. I think Gophers try to run it down our throat. If we out gain them on the ground I think we have a good shot at the win. Can’t envision our D stopping them after first two games.
    27-17 Minny. Unfortunately.

  6. It feels like we can either defend the run well, or the pass well, but not both at the same time.

Wasn’t Brandon Arnold decent last year? What the heck happened to him?

  7. I like how we go conservative for a few plays and get a first down, and then immediately go for the low percentage downfield pass attempt and waste a down, essentially killing the drive before field goal range.

Just kidding, I don’t like that.

  8. I feel dirty feeling relieved at 10-0. To our credit, we’re doing a good job taking the run away. How long can their inexperienced mediocre QB’s continue to beat us?

  9. Anyone know what is up with Christian Wallace? I recall reading the he was tearing it up on practice. Can’t possibly be weaker in coverage than what we have seen to date.

  10. Take out Luton, put in Garrettson.

The turnovers need to end, and they need to end now. Our defense is showing minor improvement, but there’s no way they can handle continually being put on the field by the offense’s ineptness.

  11. Luton fumbles. Time to throw the O line under the bus because we can’t blame the tall guy. D will get thrown under the bus for giving up points, too.

  12. Put in Garretson. Bad things happen when you can’t establish the run. At least Garretson is a threat with his feet if things break down. Lutin had a 7 or 8 yard sack but that wasn’t enough and he had to fumble.

    • I picked them in my pickem league too but it was painful. I just didn’t want to believe they are this bad.

      But they totally are :(

Even though their QB gave up like 20 interceptions I totally found myself feeling nostalgic for a Bike Smiley team today.

      It’s hurts.

      • I honestly saw on film the same as GA…that a few missed/huge plays were the difference, and thought they could tighten it up. Not. We fucking blow.

  13. The one thing our offense has been efficient at producing this year has been turnovers.
Wonder if the rain will force McGiven to call more runs now, kist like the Civil War?

  14. Andersen getting thoroughly outcoached by Fleck. Guess 15 years of experience over Minny’s coach is worth nothing. Just look awful. Luton is not a game manager. Beavs desperately need a game manager at QB. Garretson deserves his chance.

  15. Run D has been good.

Watch McGiven throw it all over the yard now. There’s enough time to run. Throw in some draws…this is a good time for a fly sweep, too. Keep it out of Luton’s hands.

  16. Fucking Luton. Had a man wide open in the flat and passed it up.

Following play the tall bozo holds it forever and the OL gets a holding call.

Followed by a high/off throw to Togia. Fuck this guy.

  17. Fugly first half. Fortunate to be down by 6. Could be much worse. I would like to know how many pass plays on first down. Foolish play calls by OC.

  18. Good news is the defense looks capable of not being the weak link here.

Bad news is between McGiven and Luton, the offense is still a crapshoot.

They better not make me stay up this late for an L.

  19. GA needs to get a grip on McGiven and Luton. They both like passing too much. Team has a better chance if they come out and run 12 or 13 straight to start the 2nd half and set the tone. Home crowd would love that attitude in this rain that is much like the Civil War.

  20. Why didnt we run the ball with 2 minutes and two timeouts before the half. Im glad im not the only one pissed about the throw every down. What the hell!

    • Obviously, but what we will get is pass pass pass, punt. Pass pass, INT. Game over.

Fucking Luton and McGiven is like Harold and Kumar running your team. Can you guys tell I love the Harold and Kumar series? ;)

    • Yep. Tre Johnson appears to be in a good head space this game and has tons left in the tank so I like him and Nall for hard runs and Pierce for a touch more finesse. All 3 with the team fully behind them is a big part of what this offense needs in 2nd half. Will allow a few openings for Togiai and the receivers on throws that are not pick risks too.

Nall and Johnson with the Nall Ball & Freight Train and Pierce for good measure.

  21. Halftime prediction: if we come out on our first possession and run all over them with Nall and Pierce, get a Td, we win. If we come out and continue to pass with the Tall Bozo, we lose, possibly badly.

  22. Garretson maybe should be in now. McGiven just likes to try out his Luton weapon too much. Don’t have a great feeling about him throwing with that glove. Garretson may choose his throws more wisely and can scramble.

  23. Get Luton out of this game. Garretson gives us a better chance. Just admit it, fans and staff. Suck up the loses and take your haircut. Move on.

  24. Points off turnovers, including imaginary ones that the Arizona booster in the replay booth would have called incomplete, are the difference

  25. Game over. 3 turnovers from our offense. 17 points for Minnesota. Defense is doing everything they can possibly do. Dam it all. Is it mean or is something off with Nall this year?

    • That was the story games 1 and 2 as well, which is why I was on the O more than the D. People were blind to it for whatever reason. O gave up 27 points to CSU.

Our O gives opposing O’s a short field or a Pick 6 almost every possession.

  26. Repeating my opinion yet again……. even though it isn’t popular

I still think Nall would be helping the team more if he were playing LB and let the other guys be the RBs.

    The OL continues to suck.

Also, it’s looking like MN made the half time adjustments and guess who didn’t.

  27. Watching Beaver Football is like watching an individual repeatedly break up with an abusive significant other and always coming back.

  28. D has given up tackling. They’re done.
When the first guy stands up the RB nobody comes in to help finish the play. Reeks of a chemistry problem. Pretty sure they hate the offense and visa versa. Probably because the tall bozo was handed the job and stinks/keeps putting them at their own 20.

  29. Fire Andersen and company now! I cant stand to watch this shit show of a coaching staff. Like someone else said. Another team having a party at our place.

  30. Best part about this game is seeing Reser nearly empty at the end of the 3rd quarter. Absolutely love it.

Means we should go after coach Beau Baldwin.

    • I agree to a point.

But we’ve been jobbed on many game-changing plays. Football is an ugly enough sport to begin with. This makes it just unbearable to even to pretend to suspend the reality that it’s just dumb.

The short would be that it’s dumb, but it’s fun to watch the effort and all the action. When calls are biased this way, dumb becomes dummer.

They wonder why their sport is dying. Call the game by the fucking rules, to start.

  31. That was a horrible call on the slide-no-slide.

Slo-mo clearly shows Morris was off his feet before Rhoda thought about sliding. And then he didn’t really hit him, mostly because Rhoda was chicken-shitting.

  32. I think even hardcore OSU fans have to be waking up now. I dont see us winning another game this year. Please bench Luton. I would rather have a game manager named Garretson..

  33. Leach benches Falk because they’re losing and he’s stinking it up. GA sticks with awful Luton.

Remember when I said we should hire Leach and got laughed at? I do.

  34. Takeaways from game:

    1. Neither Andersen or Luton is a game manager and we need one
    2. Go get Beau Baldwin
    3. If 2 faiils get Bryan Harsin

  35. First possession of the 3rd quarter was our best chance to win the game. Took their best blow in the 1st half and were right in it. McGiven came out and called awful plays, Luton executed awful.

Agree MN was more committed to the run. We barely tried to run it. I think Nall will finish with 7 carries and a 4.4 average. Meanwhile, Luton, the gun-slinging vertical threat averaged 5.2 yards per pass.

    • … so many passes on first down…

Remember when I charted Riley’s offense and concluded that we scored many more points on drives that simply started with a run? I feel like I can do that in this game as well.

      • I’m rather proud of charting Riley during those years (2009-2012). That took some fucking work. If you chooseto dismiss it, that’s on you.

I certainly don’t carry it to GA or anyone I see in today’s game.

Granted, it was some drunk work after we lost to Stanford, a good run D who we were running over for no good reason then stopped doing so… thus that loss… well… there was a fumble too.

There are times when the obvious just is the obvious, and I get fucking tired of saying DUH!

  36. It’s gotta be sooooo hard on them to see how bad they missed on Luton. They’re clinging to it so hard to convince themselves that he and whatever they are trying to do on offense with him is the answer.

They’ll definitely lose the whole team soon if they keep sticking to it, the players are smart enough to see that he’s so obviously out of his league.

    • Like 90% of fans here still think he’s the best option. Lol. And it’s because they don’t want to admit what I saw was right. GA probably doesn’t want to admit he was wrong. It’s hard for people to do, apparently.

      • It’s not Luton.

It’s McGiven. MM would have looked the fool and probably would be broken for the season by now.

Sadly, there were some positive elements added to the O this week. It’s sad because they are basic lays that should have been installed on day one. It’s like we have 75% of an offense installed in week 3.

          • I don’t disagree.

I just think the dissonance shouldn’t look so cognitive.

GA adressed the D this week. The D made changes. They might or might not have been sufficient. We’ll never know because the refs took the game away from them. But they were not the weakness. The O was again the weakness. And I’m not going to blame the fumble-fingers of some players. I’m going to blame the man in charge of making the O tick. All those skipped ticks are a result of someone not winding the cock properly.

  37. Way off on this prediction. Thing is I don’t feel it had to be this way. Just such a poorly coached and managed game…

Best player gets 6 touches and worst player on O gets 25+ passes. Just amazing stuff.

    • … a row boat made of yellow hankies.

Those were majorly biased calls against the Beavs. And it started with the catch-no-catch that was called not so despite the fucking cameras recording all angles of that play.

Honestly, I thought something was up when we got a line to gain replay in our favor despite the live call and the replay showing otherwise.

We, as far back as I can remember, have never had a replay go our way despite replay. I can point to about seven times when we got screwed (before tonight). Getting a line to gain replay when nobody expected the Spanish Inquisition was just weird. I said at the time that we never get really bad decisions created for and given to us, let alone this crap.

It seems the refs were trying to lay a baseline.

        • The defense that just failed to defend an obvious zone read? Sorry, first play I’ve seen and that was flat out terrible discipline. This coaching staff needs to be fired. Pathetic.

    • No, this one is on the coaches. Defense did well until they got worn out from being on the field forever. Villy showed up. Pierce showed up. Luton sucked. Coaches sucked way more.

      • Actually the turnovers and stupidity mid play is what killed them. Whether that’s on the players or the coaches, we’ll let the angry beavs decide.

    • No. D did well just like in every other game, despite whatever the stats say. O keeps them on the field too long and gives poor field position. Eventually they gave up just like in every other game, so that’s on the D. Luton blew chunks. Mcgiven blew chunks with poop in them.

      • Sorry but even if Luton sucks (and I didn’t see this game so not going to argue that), the defense is undisciplined garbage. The defense has not did not do well in the other games. That is a ridiculous statement. They’ve been terrible.

Might have tonight (although Minnesota converted tons of 3rd downs all game) but the defense was garbage in games 1 and 2.

  38. It seemed to me that even the completed Luton passes were the result of receivers making extra effort – either diving to the ground or jumping high to reach.

  39. Did they just say this is MN’s first road win since 1954? haha.

GA needs to go for recruiting Luton and running McM out of town. If he had any integrity he’d admit he has no clue how to analyze QBs, retire, and opt out of his contract.

    • Agree. McM should have been #1 option in a run 1st attack. Garretson #2. Luton maybe 3rd for a couple unique situations but preferavly let McM lead and manage the whole game and continue to develop into a winner as he was doing through hard work.

McM was progressing well into the game manager we need and then was run out.

GA should leave too since he was so wrong in his assessment.

      GO GET BEAU!!!!!

      • baloney

Conflating the QB issue with the OC issue does nobody any good. What is Baldwin doing right now? What is Woods doing right now? We need a clear vision instead of being constantly behind the chains.

      • Why would Beau Baldwin come to Oregon State when he is already having success at Cal? He will soon be offered by a program with some hope. I’m sad for the talented players that bought into Anderson’s rhetoric. They know they are being poorly coached.

  40. It just defies logic that you would run a guy out of town who helped you beat your biggest rival for the first time in almost a decade.. the mcm move looks worse and worse every week. In addition to totally regarding the game plan that helped you win that game

    • Plus McM was the ultimate team player…dude kept getting demoting and rising above it. Yet Luton got handed the job for zero reason. You can’t convince me that’s not the reason for an obviously disjointed team.

    • Who said he was run out? He had an opportunity to be a part of this team, as any good teammate would have done.

      He chose otherwise.

Maybe there was something about wanting to be near home because of family. If that’s the case, then I don’t think he ran away like a loser acting like a baby. As has been proven time and time again, he sticks around, and he gets to play later in the season.

I’m willing to bet he didn’t see that happening, and he just gave up.

    • I think they call and email and text recruits. They also go visit them in their homes. And some of them come to Corvallis to check out the school.

There’s more to it than all that. But those are some of the basics.

  41. What the hell is GA going to say during the pressers?

Big boy pants? Some rhetoric about toughness? He’s looked more and more depressed/disinterested each week. Anyone in the media going to have the balls to question his QB and OC decisions?

  42. I told ya……this team fuckin sucks!

One win season, that should be a winless season really.

I think Ando loses the team after this blowout…..gophers will get smoked in big 10 play…..we wold lose to rutgers

    • How does a win become not a win?

And don’t count Minnie out for the B1G West. We saw earlier that they are weak.

For the record, I was the lone voice here who wanted Fleck when we were looking to replace that twice disloyal shit named Riley. You can go look it up. I think I linked the video of him hyping before a bowl loss that year. It was just hilarious. But he’s so sincere about it all. It’s just funny.

          • For the record, I didn’t spend a penny on OSU football during Riley II. I went to about four games per year. But I was gifted all those tickets.

The worst was watching Wheaton trying to field punts.

            Ugh!

I dislike some things about GA’s tenure. But I’m now spending money on OSU football.

            Suck on that.

  43. Artavis Pierce 8 35 4.4 0 12
    Ryan Nall 7 31 4.4 0 7
    Trevorris Johnson 4 9 2.3 1 5
    Jake Luton 7 5 0.7 0 9
    TEAM 26 80 3.1 1 12

How is that a rushing stat-line with this roster? Like, seriously how does that happen!?

Also, did Tyner quit the team already after he saw how stinky this cheese was?

  44. So when considering the next coach, I suggest the following guidelines:

    * NO ONE WHO HAS EVER COACHED AT UTAH OR ANYWHERE FUCKING NEAR IT
    * NOT MIKE RILEY DEAR GOD NO

    You’re welcome, AD.

  45. Hey everyone! Let’s coordinate a home game where we get people to wear paper bags! Feel free to customize it however you want!

This will be way more effective than any “fan day experience” sad bullshit our athletic department puts on.

    • The more I see, it appears that the whole McM situation fractured the team before the first snap of the season.
I predicted that McM and Luton would have similar numbers by end of season. I just did’nt expect it to be for two different teams.

      • If MM acting like a loser baby and running away is the catalyst, then the team as a whole can transfer somewhere else. That’s how unacceptable that is as a “reason.”

    • It’s college football. The same team you just watched lose to Minnie could beat Bama next week. That’s how poor the product is as a whole.

I don’t understand why this isn’t obvious. And I’m correcting for team-centric bias. People think that team is good because that team racks up numbers. The reality is the team they faced sucked while they racked up numbers. They could have been executing perfectly and looking for blocks on people who weren’t there, and that would have been noted. That’s not what happens 97% of the time in college football. Most of the time it’s just picking on the 17 year-old sub.

      It’s just not pretty.

And Celestine should have been ejected for spearing Pierce. Talk all you want about any other play. That was targeting.

      • Before you talk about talent, forget it. I’ll buy coaching. There isn;t that much difference in talent. So don’t bother with that argument.

          • Yup.

It was textbook targeting. Kid should have left the field in shame. Instead he gets celebrated. And Moore gets kicked for a lesser offense. I agree that Moore goes by the letter of the law. I just want Minnie fan to know that Celestine should have been kicked for a greater and more blatant offense.

That was a really bad miss for the refs. The game was over after that. I gift them the call of a “miss” only because they had many in this game. They made a poor product unwatchable.

  46. If Anderson doesn’t fire coaches in the offseason or before hand, then he’ll get fired at some point. We can’t keep recruiting pocket passers and expect them to run a spread offense. We either need to adapt to a pro-style offense with the QB we have, or we need to bench Luton for not pulling the ball more on read options to keep the defense honest. When he kept the ball those times, he gained positive yards and it opened our run and pass game up.

Who do we replace Anderson if we choose to fire him? We really should look at Jonathan smith or even levit(sp?) at Oregon for the head job. We need someone who is a natural leader as a head coach. We got a coach who was anti-riley. Fired up, passion, vision(sporadic), young, enthusiasm, charisma, doesn’t beat around the bush(until now).

Something has to change. Im just frustrated as hell hence this rant. ‘Im a man I’m 40!!!’ We need a rant that gets our players attention and gets us on the map cause losing and visors and sun tans aren’t going to do it.

  47. From Benny’s House:

“Yep, we’ve managed to achieve an average FCS team in year 3 of Anderpants.”

GARY ANDERPANTS HELL YEAH BEST NICKNAME EVER

    • It is better than big boy pants.

Ftr, the announcers in last week’s game for Nikegon mentioned big boy pants twice. And I’ve heard it a couple times on other broadcasts unrelated to GA. I looked for the etymology, since it’s just dumb to start with. And it appears to begin with some obscure comedy.

      ?

I have not seen this obscure comedy. Is it funny? Is big boy pants funny or serious?

  48. I check this site like my email(been so for years) and this will be my first time commenting…

    But unfucking real.
Never been so disappointed. Had to take off my shirt.

    • Clune?

McGiven is the target. Wtf are you talking about?

What’s sad is that the glaring issues might not be addressed if we weren’t jobbed by the refs on almost double-digit plays. These issues would still be here if we won.

I wonder if the refs don’t like Mormons. I mean, I’ve never found a Mormon who wasn’t either proselytizing or discriminating. So I guess I understand why there might be bias. But that doesn’t explain the blatant bullshit calls Minnie got i this game.

*never only applies to Mormons who are really Mormons. Jack Mormons are conflicted and most of the time on the right side of any social conscience.
