Buker mentions in today's practice preview that the team will be wearing experimental Columbia Sportswear jerseys... and that's it... just the mention.

Our contract with Nike ends on June 30, so what the hell is happening with the bid process for the new apparel contract? Is this practice the first step in the process? Is Columbia looking to get into athletic apparel?

Do we have any reporters following the team who can ask some questions rather than dismissing new info out of hand?

Seriously, it's like there's a disconnect between new, interesting information and obvious follow up questions. I see this all the time with the Oregon media, and can only attribute it to gene pool/"something in the water" issues.

Re-reading his article, it looks like he just wrote a poor attempt at humor. I'm thinking his wussiness about the weather prompted him to conjure a notion of Columbia Sportwear jerseys as protection against 52° temps... as if it were actually funny.

Sorry, I just had some hope for the future for a bit. It won't happen again.

As an aside, I've been eyeing some of the Columbia fleeces and jackets since my most recent OSU clothing purchase was a black OVB hoody I bought some six or seven years ago. Before that my last purchase was an orange sweatshirt with the old grey and white block lettering and Benny centered over it. It's a Jansport sweatshirt that I bought in the early 90's, and the only problem I have is that it has shrunk over time... or my arms and torso are getting longer.

Columbia has much higher quality and (I think) much better looking apparel available.

Much less bang for the buck... and just ugly. Notice also that they add "... and embroidered Swoosh design trademark at the right" or something like it as a selling point on all their products. Are they selling Nike or OSU?

That's pretty embarrassing, but most people don't care enough to write Nike a letter about it...or to not buy the jacket. Most fans will just say, "oh yeah, that's pretty shitty Nike makes you add money for their logo", then they'll laugh, then they'll buy it. Or, they won't even realize Nike asked them to pay for the logo.

I'm in a mood today. I might just go on a rampage against Nike for the fun of it.
