I can't stand it. The more I think about this last football season and how there has been absolutely NO questions asked of Bob DeCarolis, I realize that this department doesn't HAVE to say anything because our fan base is so fucking PASSIVE and they believe that Riley/Robinson's contracts should be iron-clad...and apparently their staffs deserve a pass.

I guess the Christmas cheer has worn off. Bah humbug. I hope Bobby D leaves for Michigan as soon as his daughters graduate.

Write him and let him know. Tell him you're a season ticket holder and or major donor and he'll care a little more.

I'd love to, but as of a year ago neither are true and I'm not a very good liar.

So basically I just have to take it.

Just wanted to vent here as I figure it's a safe place to actually have a critical opinion of OSU athletics.

I actually like Bob D for the most part, though. What I hate more is the old, complacent Oregon fan.They kill the program more than a bad hire by the AD.

I completely agree, and I believe that outside of men's basketball and football the hires are spot-on. I just think he ought to be a little more careful about the extensions he gives, as those two sports are sort of our biggest cash cows and represent the most important investment.

But I suppose we're pretty competitive in nearly every sport so I guess he could be worse.

I feel like his only mistake was the Riley lifetime deal. It's a huge mistake, but only one. Last year's schedule could be viewed as a mistake. I liked it at the time, and knew I was getting my BCS-feel bowl games early and accepted that. It's a bad long term strategy, but as a program benchmark it showed us a lot, and we had early, exciting games. No real issue. The Lavona Wagner thing was a mess, but he fixed that with the new guy, and nobody really cares about women's sports so...

I like Craig Robinson and feel he was a great hire. He's the best recruiter on campus. Once his players mature people will stop talking about Robinson being an idiot. I know he looks like an idiot at times, but I believe he is testing these players, teaching them lessons, walking a fine political line within the team, and also figuring out what he has. Overall I feel in good hands, and that the team is on the right track.

I'll only view Robinson as a good call if there are two NIT appearances in the next two years or one NCAA appearance in three.



I guess I'm just crazy with expectations, but yes- Riley was a huge mistake and Wagner was a nasty publicity smear, especially if you consider the stance that "nobody cares about women's sports". It's bad enough for female athletes and allowing them to get abused makes your university looks bad. However, it seems Rueck is bringing the cure for shit...winning.
