Is now in the rotation due to beating...Hartford. Ugh.
Do not understand why Boyd can't get innings.

I believe they are now preparing Boyd to be the closer. He was originally intended to be a part of the rotation but that obviously has changed. So he will probably be the closer. I like that. Nobody I trust more than Boyd in that situation. Pat Casey says he wants Taylor Starr to be the closer, but ultimately I think Boyd gets that spot.

That should have read "now" in the rotation...fixed.
Agreed, Boyd as the closer is fine. He's wasted if used as a middle reliever or situational lefty. I don't trust Taylor Starr at all. He reminds me of a combination of Waldren and "KRhod", which is not good.

I like Boyd in the situation he played against Nikegon. I envisioned him to be the ultimate set-up man who could play every day if needed. There are going to be games where no save is needed, but we may need someone in the later innings to step in and kill a rally before it begins. I trust Boyd to be that man. And if he's rested, he can go 1-2+ for a save or just a close. He did it very well last year, but then he'd turn it over to KRhod and a loss. I think Dunn is sizing up to be the closer. And I think Boyd will be the man to set the table for him. I think it's necessary in the college game to have two solid closers playing these roles, because emotions bring more intense play in the last third of any game. If Boyd deflates any and all comers in the late innings, Dunn can just finish them off.
Before Tuesday's game, I was going to say something like I trusted Boyd to come in during the seventh with no outs and the bases loaded when we were up by only a run, and he would get us out of it. But I thought that might sound a little hokey. Now I know he can do it. And i love that he just crushed Nikegon's dreams of a possible rally at that point. That one point in the game was the decisive point. Everything beyond that was going through the motions.

Had heard or read that Nygren got the start because Booser was hurt, and Nygren was supposed to start the Duck game. Don't know if that has changed.
