To opening pitch. Anyone else heading to Texas to catch some baseball at end of month?

Going to be nice to support a team in competent hands, regardless of record, I have confidence and respect for Pat Casey.

College baseball is under-marketed. They should put more games on TV.

And yes, I'm psyched for the first game, but I'm definitely not going to Texas for it.

Have said NCAA is missing the boat with their baseball product for years, it is a great game, and needs to be marketed and televised. The playoffs need to have a March Madness type following/

I have some ideas on how to market it.

ESPN would have to be the one to push it during the season. I would like ESPNU or ESPN2 to show some of the big time preseason baseball tournaments. You could show games from those tournaments that aren't on those networks, nationally on FSN.

You could have a nightly college baseball show on ESPN, ESPNU or ESPN2 recapping the nights action, show live look-in's to games and have live updates, similar to how NBA Tonight and Baseball Tonight do it. This would help fans get familiar with players and teams. Fans would enjoy the differences between MLB and College, much like how College Basketball and the NBA differ.

Friday nights on ESPN don't have much on. You have the NBA on there till the middle of April and that's about it. You put say beginning of March, a national game of the night or put a double header of east or central time zone teams in the first game and a west coast game in the 2nd game. You could show the Pac 10 and the WCC and the Wac in the 2nd game. You could show the Mountain West as well.

You could also have a national Sunday game as well. You could spread that around the country every Sunday, showing new teams. That could help with creating more fan support and make it a much bigger sport, nationally.

For the selection day, It needs to be moved to Monday night instead of Monday morning. This would make sure more people are watching. They should make it a 1 hr-1 1/2 hr show and go in depth breaking down each of the regionals.

As far as the NCAA Tournament goes I would like to see every regional on TV. You can put them on FSN, ESPN,ESPNU, ESPN2, CBS College Sports, hell, even Versus. You could also see if MLB Network would show some Regionals as well during the day. You wanna make sure that all the potential new fans, and old fans, get to see their team play on TV at some point during the Regionals.

These are just some of my ideas. I've been thinking of ways to get the sport more popular for a while.

I think wooden bats are the key. Nobody likes the ping. I realize wood is expensive. A great idea might be for MLB clubs to have a program that donates money to colleges for wooden bats. In return they'd get (a) good publicity and (b) prospects who have used wood.

"I like the fact we're not supposed to be very good,'' said Casey. "I like the fact we're pinned against the wall. I'm always better when I'm pinned against the wall, personally.''

Best Beaver coach at quotes since the legendary DE.

I don't even remember any DE quotes. My imagination leads me to believe they were these:
"Fore!"
"If the wind doesn't hold the ball up, it would have been pin high. You were asking something about football?"
