I know I said I wouldn't post anymore, but I can't not shun fellow beavers no matter how obnoxious and rude they can be because they aren't as obnoxious and rude as hole fans. So consider this a sincere apology from me to all of you who are avid readers, posters, and followers of this blog. I was out of line with what I said to angry.

On the related note of my youtube video, Where is the Riley that says, "This was all you guys tonight! Praise your team, don't worry about the other guys, they played hard." Also, is the "benchmark" he speaks of in this video laid down by the seniors for years to come...does this mean that the "benchmark" shouldn't be raised again?

The media interview before the Penn State game. Is it me or is Riley "twitchy" and shows that he's nervous about the game through this interview? The answer is YES! His hands were all over the place and his voice fluctuated and quivered. He was definitely nervous for this game and it showed.

Here's the ASU media day interview with Riley this last year. Notice how he's a bit more calm, relaxed, and his voice doesn't quiver?

2009 Cincy media day interview, He's somewhat nervous, but he portrays a sense of confidence, but it's hidden.

Why can't we do something like this?

I take great offense to that statement. You're saying that Nikegon fans can be better at something than someone with one-eighth of a brain?

And screw angry. What about me? Huh? Come on!

Screw your apology, and screw me. because....

...

Did I just screw myself?

Eh... fuck it.

ummmm.....what? Nowhere in my apology did I say hole was better at anything than someone with 1/8 of a brain. If anything, I said that hole fans are great at being A-holes...hence the word...hole. Also JackBeav, nowhere did I criticize anyone else besides Angry. I may have said some things out of annoyance, but sometimes people get to us and we blow off steam. Does that make it right? Hell no. So that's why I said everyone on this blog and specifically to Angry because I did the same damn thing OS_Beav did....brought my personal life and took it out on people on this blog. I'm generally a nice guy and that girl I was seeing....well she dumped me 2 hours before I left on a 17 hour bus ride and she spent those 2 hours waiting for my bus to leave with me...ya...that was awkward. So that's why I said the things I said about his gf. It was out of frustration and anger that I, a nice guy, got dumped while other people whom I've never met, seem to be able to keep a relationship going. So this is why I apologized, cause I myself needed the vacation and time to cool off. Savvy?

Wow... turn the wussy sensors off. It was just some stupid humor.

I'm not really worried about your personal life. I (and many others) have had similar experiences.

Try doing that same bus ride with poison oak across your shoulders and down your forearms... same emotion... same stupid.

You know what? I can't even remember that girl's name, and I dated her for a year. Now I'm going to go nuts trying to remember.

Dude, did you delete a comment on the old topic you keep rehashing? I went back and looked at it, I have seen way worse things said (at least what is on there right now).

Second, I agree with Jack, stop being a wuss. You sound like you are 17. Not too many people here are worried about your personal life, they are more worried about sports, specifically the Beavers.

Finally, who cares if you slam Angry. I certainly don't, he created this site not to create a cult but a place for truly open discussion. The whole point is that he was banned for dissenting, he wouldn't and couldn't ever ban someone. I would willing stop coming here (even though it is one of my favorite sports sites) if he ever banned someone. It would be pure hypocrisy, censorship was the vehicle for this place to begin, it cannot occur here. So, dissent all you want, make your voice heard, just be knowledgable and rational.

p.s. Please don't ever call me OS_Beavers again or I will start a real flame war.

Fair enough guys. So I've been thinking that when Riley came in back in 1998, he had an attitude of all or nothing, but now he seems to be conservative and having the attitude that he wants to win without pulling out all the stops. Am I the only one who sees this?

As for Riley, he had nothing to lose back then. After all, the team had been rubbage for 28 years. That season, he went 5-6 and he was considered so much of a success he was offered an NFL head coaching job. What other team can go 5-6 and have their guy promoted to NFL head coach?

Also, consider his NFL career in the development of his character. It was so bad he realized that he never wants to leave Corvallis again. He inherited the awful situation of Ryan Leaf. The general manager did him a favor and drafted the guy, hitching the teams star to one of the worst busts in NFL draft history. Riley had no recourse, his only saving grace was Jim Harbaugh.

I think that process could certainly break a person, it is subtly stated whenever he speaks about leaving Corvallis. He clearly values what his job, despite the constant uphill battle. I think Riley was someone who had guts and swagger but is reluctant to show it again. He got burned bad last time. Conservative keeps him happy in home town. At times, his former self shines through, of all the sports pysch talk, he needs it the most. That said, the humility that he shows is what makes him so endearing to anyone who meets him.

I accept your apology because I didn't care about the "insult" to begin with...my reply was "stop projecting", and it looks like that's what you were doing. Breaking up with girls/getting dumped leads to good stories down the line, and with each relationship you learn about your true place in the world. I view them as interesting/positive things no matter how they end. You should, too.

I do need a vacation, though, mainly because I haven't taken one since November 2009. So, you were right on that one. Going to Yosemite in early June. Just a weekend trip, but it will be nice to hit the open road.
