The best way to describe Bob DeCarolis is “asleep at the switch“.
Good ol’ Bob, counting beans as his field turns to dust.
But Bob and Craig said we’re on pace to get there very soon? I don’t understand why Hallice would think otherwise.
I don’t think we’re done seeing transfers or defections just yet. Something else is going on. Stay tuned
Hearing that Cooke and Duvivier are super close, and Malcolm’s thinking about transferring now as well.
I think you’ll find that Malcolm is stronger than that.
That’s a cogent statement…..want to see what the ncaa tourney feels like. He (and the other players) knows his coach cant cut it. Expect more transfers.
…and this may be the end for CR. EVen if BDC cant afford to fire him this year, he sure as hell will have to next year.
I would describe BDC as wandering along the tracks — I dont think he wants to be near the switch.
I have no idea how you would do something like this but I think it’d be interesting see an actual cost analysis of firing Robinson. BDC says we can’t afford to fire him but what is the cost of not firing him? Next year will likely break this year’s lack of attendance record and I can’t imagine much OSU basketball merchandise flying off the shelves when the MBB team is one of the least popular teams on campus. One would think firing Robinson sooner rather than later could be seen as an investment in getting people excited about the basketball team again instead of one more season of alienating what’s left of the fan base.
Merchandise will fly off the shelves if Langston Morris Walker is around
LMFAO! Good one. +10,000 internets for you
Haha
It would be a lot cheaper for OSU to fire b-b-b-b-b-bobby instead of CR. Let the new AD decide who the next BB coach will be.
Where the heck is all this Pac-12 TV money?
Talk about a SNAFU situation.
Is your college basketball program in disarray? Sounds like a job for Scott Rueck!
Well……why not?!? Rueck would probably take it, for the raise. …or is there something about women’s basketball coaching that wouldnt translate to the men?? Dang, now my mind is wandering….
Dylan Davis was huge today, pitched 4.1 reaching 95 on the gun. Hit the first pitch he saw out for a HR and had at least 4 rbi’s!
Look at this Babe Ruth.
He slept at a Holiday Inn Express last night.
He loaded the bases with three passed balls and one out. Lucky Sac st didn score a bunch.
Some positives:

Looking at the transfer list, I guess Faust is the best out there if he actually graduates. It sounds like he will do so. I also like Christophe Varidel. But I’ve only seen him play a little over the last couple years.
Did you ask Dana Altman if it was ok to look at the “transfer list”?
ESPN keeps it up to date.

Man, that is a lot of kids.
In case you missed it, Cooks has been invited to the NFL Draft. Crichton not invited, but he’s expected to go late first to early second.
MR better be siting next to and walking out with his family when they call his name and he goes to shake hands with the commish. Priceless for recruiting. I will be really disappointed if he is not there.
No reason we should not be able to snag a high level WR recruit this cycle.
That would be new. I can’t recall any coach being at the draft with their former player. It would only work if ESPN gave MR a shout out so people would be able to identify him.
What the staff is more likely to do is take a picture of Cooks on stage, shaking hands with the commissioner with a caption of “First round pick from Oregon State, WR Brandin Cooks”. and then send it out on all social media channels. That should get any recruits attention.
I think Saban was there a couple years ago. But he also had something like 53 players go in the first round.
They show several coaches every year backstage with their player. Saban is omnipresent.
Oregon State Athletics emailed me about the spring football showcase, where, believe it or not, BDC will be in: a dunk tank. Yes a dunk tank. How fricking lame is that?
Next up, BDC to speak at a series of bake sales – homemade cakes, pies – to raise money for the Reser upgrade…
When I first read your post I thought you had written “drunk tank”, which would at least explain some BDC’s decisions a little better.
Maybe he’s trying to monetize the frustration that’s been building up in the fan base…
Mmmm… liquidity.
THAT SON OF A BITCH BETTER NOT BE DICKING AROUND LIKE THAT WITH DUNK TANKS WHEN THERE IS AN ENTIRE ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT IS CRUMBLING IN HIS FAT FINGERS! I GOOGLED TREATMENT FOR PARKINSON’S AND NOWHERE DOES IT SAY DUNK TANKS ARE A GOOD IDEA.
Also very positive:
Cameron Oliver signing his NLI tomorrow at 12:30.
I thought he’d already signed because it was officially announced.
This confuses me as well. Maybe today is just a school function where everyone who signs in the spring gets recognized for their achievements?
He’s signing something. Maybe he signed a GIA last Wednesday and his NLI today?

Anyone know of possible teams interested in Cooke? I think I saw St. Joe.
I’m thinking Providence.
I saw Rhode Island in there, too.
They might be close enough. Same difference between them and Providence.

Hmmm… I wonder if any of those schools are in New Jersey… within a couple miles of home.
Respectable that he wants to know what it feels like to play in the Tournament, but you would think a true competitor would aim to do that with the team he signed with in the first place instead of trying to piggy back on another teams success.
At risk of sounding like an old man who is out of touch… kids these days ‘smh’. What a dipshit.
Sounds like the kid is in touch. Last year a decent team, the kid sees the coach not help them get wins, even with a halftime lead. He sees the whole front line leaving. He knows the quality of the returning players. .He sees small chance of improvement, a hopeless situation …. and decides to transfer. Good for him.
Clearly, playing time is not his top priority. That’s the only carrot OSU has to offer.
well put steve. This is what a downward spiral looks like, BOB! I’ve been as critical of Riley as the next guy in this forum but we’ve never seen anything remotely like this disgraceful and humiliating sequence of events in football like mens’ hoops.
Disgraceful and humiliating?
Are we still talking about OSU? Disgraceful and humiliating?
Using those words and projecting some weird “downward spiral” upon the team is perhaps disgraceful and humiliating. I would just call it damn lazy, especially where “journalists” are concerned.
But holy cow… disgraceful and humiliating? The hoops and football teams just had mirror years. I don’t hear anyone talking about football’s downward spiral and people leaving as being disgusting and humiliating.
Prognosticating doom is fine. But you flew right on by that part. Words have actual meanings.
*disgraceful
OT: Bryan Miller lists his top three things to make the Beavs winners. He mentions durability and injury prevention as benefits of his first two (nutrition and strength building). Hope he can be successful especially with the O-line!
http://www.oregonlive.com/beavers/index.ssf/2014/04/oregon_state_beavers_strength.html
Speaking of durability, anyone else having serious concerns about Storm(y) here? Seems a bit fragile which may partially explain his tentative running style. Now he’s missed three sessions with a “tweaked” hammy. Maybe he would benefit from a visit with Jeff Hendrix, he seems to have recovered well.
Great that.Bryan Miller has a wish list. But why was he not keeping an eye on Gavin Andrews…who has had a weight problem since early high school? Why did he not evaluate Keenan in early January and start a crash strength program after he first enrolled, How about the out of shape d linemen…plural? Why did they not assess/report Addie health prior to signing of recruits? A medical retirement after signing period and right before spring practice (not the first time this has happened in recent years) does not jibe with the pr about durability and injury prevention.
No kidding, his spiel made me chuckle and wonder, “where’s the beef?”. He even mentioned that it was difficult to narrow his focus to just three broad categories!
Now that Langs has moved on, Miller, and of course Bruce Read, seem to be the weak links.
What is Ariko Iso’s role in what Bryan Miller does with regard to player fitness?
She has implemented the “wax on, wax off” training rutine. The coaches rides are looking sweet BTW.
http://www.hark.com/clips/zjkjxjphlp-wax-on-wax-off
routine…
Same shit every year with Miller. We could definitely use an upgrade there.
Also, seems like Brown is being setup to ride the pine behind the phenomenal Storm Woods, http://www.oregonlive.com/beavers/index.ssf/2014/04/oregon_state_beavers_running_b_3.html
That’s not what I’m taking away from the article. Basically it’s saying if Brown stops dropping the ball, it’ll be him and Ward, with the fragile Woods in 3rd place.
Not really, it’s taken an injury for him to get carries in practice. The quotes sound like the coaches still don’t think he’s the better choice.
“I have been trying to take advantage of it,” Brown said. “All I can do is just try to show the coaches that I can play and I’m reliable. Hopefully they can see that.”
“Running backs have to sometimes get over the hump,” Garrett said, “where it’s not just all about, ‘Just hand me the ball and I’ll make a run or I’ll make a guy miss.’
He seems to be the most explosive runner by a long shot. When the run game sucks as bad as ours, sometimes it is just about making guys miss. The other two can’t. Ward does not have the speed and Stormy is too tentative. The run game will get better with the same guys toting the rock and a younger less experienced line? Color me skeptical. Brown needs to be heavily involved this year. They need some creativity in using the flawed parts they have to work with.
This just in, Murphy and Zimmerman can, “… easily be the top two safeties in the nation…”
http://www.oregonlive.com/beavers/index.ssf/2014/04/oregon_state_beavers_safeties.html
LMFAO. Zimmerman? He’ll be the number one flailbacker in the nation
People’s expectations around goals and level of confidence are interesting. Should the Beavs expect a BCS bowl each year? or the Sun Bowl? Top two safeties in the nation? or sixth in the conference? Fans don’t want coaches accepting mediocrity. Fans laugh when the goals appear to high.
Some fans appreciate a balance between confidence and humility. Some fans believe a “team first” attitude leads to more success than a focus on individual achievement. It’s all opinion, of course, but the use of “easily” really did seem out of place…..to me.
As for bowl expectations, this fan has made clear recently that the W/L record is only part of the degree to which I’m satisfied with performance. Consistent focus, everyday effort, elimination of foolish mistakes, and improved execution as the season progresses are very important factors as well. Clock management and player/staff evaluation and motivation by the head guy also figure in there.
A little disclaimer here, as I commented on the big O, the written word may not convey the true intent of the interviewee. Right now, though, the written word is all we’ve got with respect to this interview.
Sounds like they should have a sit down with Dr Phil to work out their “communication and chemistry issues.” Relationships can be soooo difficult kids.
Murphy has the physical tools to play on Sunday and should be a dominant player this year.
Zimmerman has had more bad bites than a rabid Pit Bull. His name conjoures up an image for me of him biting hard on an inside fake as the reciever flys by him wide open up the middle. If they are still having issues, is it time to throw a youngster in there? He has played quite a bit and should not be struggling his senior spring camp.
His name conjures up Bob Dylan for me. Was Bob a Minnesota baller back in the day?
No. He went to the U of M before dropping out. His home town, Hibbing, has a few famous jocks. Kevin McHale and Roger Maris at the top of the list.
Did you watch Zimmerman at all last year? I did. That’s why I laughed
How come the Pure Orange Board has been down for most of 3 weeks? Anything to do with the OS athletic department not wanting more conversation???
It’s a government coverup ordered by Robaminson after all the teeth gnashing from the men’s hoops board
NSA shut it down?
Not only the beat writers! ESPN/Ted Miller/1080 quoted/used my Will Lyles story.
It must be painful for you to read that since you hate me, but as they say, the truth hurts.
Speaking of delusions…..
How’s this for a Hallice Cooke tweet?
Hallice Cooke ?@Hallywood_3 11m
Once a beaver, always a beaver !
does this mean he’ll always consider himself a Beaver, even after he transfers? or he’s staying with the Beavs?
He’s leaving. There were about three tweets preceeding the one posted here, Thanking his coaches, teammates and fans. Talking about the memories and how much he’ll miss Corvallis. And thanking Beaver Nation. Kid is a class act, and he’s going to be missed.
thanks, didn’t realize there was more. this was the only one Machado retweeted
Hallice Cooke ?@Hallywood_3 11m
Once a beaver, always a beaver !
Translation………I’m out-a here sucka’s. Time to get a real coach. Good luck in the CBI next year.
Beat those stinking Ducks!
Connor is predicting a sweep by the Beavs, the writer for the ucks is saying Beavs win two with an uck win on Saturday. Hopefully the team is only thinking one pitch at a time and remembering last Monday.
I don’t see the ucks winning without help from the Beavs.
Ice is likely to get some opportunities to cut ’em down, if he is successful the first couple chances it could mess with their heads.
GO BEAVS!
Lots of rain this weekend with thunderstorms in Friday/sat forecast. Hope they dont get a rainout and have to cram 2 games on Sunday.
Class acts do not self promote to the bitter end and tweet about their fake loyalty. I do not fault him for leaving, only for being a politician.
It’s funny you bring this up. First, you don’t burn bridges no matter the situation. That’s just being adult. But there’s also some conjecture that he doesn’t want to spend his college career in the Pac. Apparently the politics of the Pac and the feeling that the refs are the worst in the country bothers him, the politics being that “star” power gets the calls unlike anywhere else in college ball.
It’s hard to argue that our refs are any good when Hallice gets ejected for getting hit in the head even after the morons look at replay.
I think the officiating was better this year than in the past. It was still horrible, but they were better. Unfortunately, it’s going to take Dibler years to undo the damage Ed Rush did to Pac officiating.
That’s interesting about the officiating factoring in to a decision to transfer, but makes sense. i’ve seen some just plain bizarre things over the years with these P-12 buffoons, I can only imagine what some of the players think.
I’ve always thought the officials consider the Beavs kind of a “shitty team” and they are not going to go out of their way to do them any favors. I’m sure the players sense that also.
Nothing wrong with burning of bridges. It is much better to light a fire than to go thru motions that are insincere. I would argue that being superficial adults going thru the motions got some 200 plus kids killed in Korea since no one was willing to light that bridge on fire. I would not ask Cooke to throw dirt or light any fire. But please do not fake it and self promote.
I can follow that up with one question.
Huh?
Gina with more background on Garrett:
http://www.oregonlive.com/beavers/index.ssf/2014/04/new_oregon_state_beavers_offen_1.html
That’s really encouraging. Hopes are up now.
All this Garrett hype really illustrates how bad Langs was.
Langs must have been pretty content and felt pretty safe.
I actually think Garret could end up being worth 1 or 2 wins this year that might not have otherwise occurred. The “attention to detail” is thrown out a lot, but seems genuine. If, because of his coaching for example, Chris Brown gets more reps (improved ball security, blocking), then I think we see more big plays. If he can get 3 or 4 RBs reps instead of 1 or 2, I think we see more diversity and production.
The challenge for the O will be in getting the WRs to continue to produce at a high level. I’m not sold on Mullaney on the outside facing a teams’ best CBs. I was an early supporter of Bolden but he hasn’t shown much and his speed seems to be exaggerated to me. I hope Villamin can qualify and prove to be the athletic freak he’s purported to be.
