Here is JackBeav’s writeup for the game. 6pm tip on ESPN3
Auburn is in much the same situation OSU is in. Bruce Pearl is in his first year as the head man of a team who returns little experience and was just a middling team last year. They also do not show well away from home. I’ve not been a big fan of Pearl the person since he went and lied about Deon Thomas.
http://deadspin.com/5784437/bruce-pearls-first-con-and-the-world-that-created-a-monster
Because of that, Pearl the coach is a very good recruiter. But he’s also a decent hoops coach. So he’s like Lane Kiffin with some occupational skill. Still, I don’t like him.But enough about him.
Auburn has some skill on the team. KT Harrell is the player to watch in the back court. He doesn’t have a great handle or play good defense. But he can score. He’s a shooter who can’t be left open on the perimeter. And it’s not like he has been proficient from the floor. He’s a volume scorer, and volume scorers can go from 40% shooting to 60% shooting on any given night. Tulsa did a nice job moving him from his perimeter spots, resulting in a 14% night on Monday. OSU is strong against perimeter ball as well. So this does play to our favor.
JUCO transfer Cinmeon Bowers is the steadiest presence on the team. He is a consistent 15/15 player who eats up space and has a soft touch. His feet are surprisingly nifty for being the size of Joe Burton. He will likely get his no matter what the score is.
Jordon Granger is the glue guy at the swing. He has some length and all around game. He’s not called upon for much offense, but he will step outside from time to time.
KC Ross-Miller is the same kid we saw at NMSU. He’s the facilitator of the group who can work against mid-range defenders and get to the line, where he doesn’t miss. His scoring within is timely. But if Auburn is dependent on him for points, OSU will be doing something right. Or if he gets in foul trouble early and faces early pressure D, he can be completely ineffective.
And Jarmal Reid’s high school teammate Tajh Shamsid-Deen will round out the starting five. He’s a diminutive handle who can score in bunches but really hasn’t had a bunch yet. He’ll provide some on-ball pressure, and he will take a lot of shots that remind you he’s still a sophomore. But you will see some athleticism from the kid.
Pearl plays nine in his rotation with two frosh swings in TJ Lang and Aussie Jack Purchase getting about twice the minutes that junior guard Devin Waddell plays. But so far this year senior guard Malcolm Canada is the only player with any real system contribution. Canada is like Ross-Miller in his style of play, but he is a rather stout individual for a guard. If all goes well for OSU tonight, expect to see him on the floor a lot.
The Beavs just had a plain bad shooting night on Monday. But even that doesn’t come close to how poorly Auburn shot the ball. I expect both teams to shoot better tonight. But Auburn could should four times better from the perimeter than they did on Monday, and still it could be called a poor shooting night. With the thin experience and Pearl liking to get out and run, Auburn can find themselves really thin and winded in the second half, expecially if some of their lead guards are forced to play some D. I don’t expect the unexpected freak show of the Auburn offense growing up in one game. This one should be a Beav win somewhere in the range of 70-55.
I think the Beavs win tonight as well. Get er done boys! Go beavs! Now if you’ll excuse me I need to take a Tinkle then a Riley and wipe my DeCarolis
Dude! LOL … great one!
Does that mean Fire BDC Now wants to fire your ass?
Oregon State 60, Auburn 54 if Payton doesn’t get in too much foul trouble.
I think this will be a win also. The Beavs must stay calm in a press and not turn the ball over. I imagine Tinkle emphasized that in practice yesterday. One thing I like about him is his ability to make adjustmnents in a game and during the half. Auburn seems too erratic, kind of like Oral Roberts was.
I’m putting the Bruce Pearl mention over/under at 150 and taking the over
Go Beavs!
I love the Lane Kiffin comparison. Dude is type snake out there.
Idiotic officiating begins again.
Beavs not looking very good in the early going. Lazy defense, sloppy offense.
LMW is awful. Blows a point blank layup, then throws up an ill advised 3 that’s not even close. Ugly is the only way to describe his lack of offense. And this guy is supposed to be the leader?
He’s leading the team with 12 ppg. Because he blows a layup he’s awful?
Anyway, he’s a decent player if you’re being objective.
have you watched these last 2 games? His offense is terrible. I’m supposed to be impressed because he leads the team in scoring with a whopping 12 ppg?
12 ppg on 38% FG is not good at all. Being efficient is pretty important
Which is why i said he’s a decent player. he is definitely not awful.
his defense is decent. His offense is awful. For someone Tinkle expects to lead this team he needs to step it up
He’s been awful tonight. I’ll give you that.
Gomis has some nice moves on the block. Need to get him the ball more
Duvivier needs to get out of funk also.
GP2’s perimeter shot looks much better than I expected this season considering he wasn’t a good shooter in JC.
If his 3 point game is consistent that is going to be huge. It looks like he struggles like so many players do with open 12 footer.
Tinkle is coaching his ass off. He knows this is a winnable game.
The season is young and LMW and Duvivier will get better. I can assure you of that. They are in a new system with a new coach after not playing a lot. Must give them a break.
Man, LMW just can’t hit the open three ball right now.
Next year when they get some shooters things will look a lot different. At this point analyze the system and imagine better players (who are coming soon). That’s how I watch/judge. And Tinkle is so much better than CR….
careful! Before Jack jumps your shit for beating a dead horse!
They have talent that is already here as well that should mesh well with the new class, unlike what Brandt, Cunningham, Burton had to deal with with Jay John’s guys.
The system is working, but the confidence needs to catch up. Tinkle and his assistants are working on that too.
They need to quit shooting the three ball as it isn’t working unless you’re GP2
AWFUL play the last 5 minutes. Turnovers, blown open shots, and no defense vs penetration.
36-30 Tigers
panic panic
Looks like OSU will likely lose this game if their offense doesn’t start showing some consistency. Hope Tinkle can get these guys to rally.
Duvivier ankle injury :(
MEGAPANIC
Didn’t expect a win in this one. Just feels like a game where Auburn dominates the second half. Beavers can’t score enough to win this
Bowers looks like he wants to kill people and eat their corpses. Getting a bad vibe from that dude.
about fucking time they called that carry. Ive seen it at least 3 times already. Not gonna win a faster paced game against Auburn. Slow it down
Dude..old news… it has been halftime for like 5 minutes.
I was watching the espn3 feed. It’s slower. sue me
Not a very good half from what I saw. Lazy on D and have trouble inbounding the ball just about every time. Auburn with more points in the half than they scored in whole game Monday.
Agree with defense needing to be stiffer. I thought we would see Oregon State hold several opponents to around 40% or below shooting in games. Was hoping that would become one of the team’s primary identities.
Auburn not a very good team. Should be able to beat these guys but our offense isn’t productive and consistent enough. That’s why I said 4 conference wins being pretty likely with 6 the absolute max unless there is considerable growth. At this time I don’t anticipate that. I think the imprived system, GP2 and defense help to keep the team fairly competitive but I just think the extra improvement from here will be in small steps. Would like to see a little more leadership and communication on this team. GP2 taking on a little more vocal leadership probably would help. How much more we improve over the season remains to be seen. Tinkle needs to help the team will itself to more wins and more confidence in themselves.
Defense is why the Beavs are behind. Auburn is shooting 59%. Offense has been good for the most part
Auburn has one guy that has been to four different schools? How is that even possible? Sounds like Dana Altman to me.
Wayne has come out and had a couple of really good play designs, LMW just missed a good look on the three on the second possession
Whiskey Soaked – O.K. I’ve downloaded and installed Fire Fox and am getting the following messages…….. None of which I’ve clicked on.

I use Ghostery and Ad Block as suggested by Angry and I stopped getting all of that shit when I stream Beav games.
hell yeah. use “better privacy” for firefox too. blocks “flash cookies”, which are the worst.
yes I use adblock
At some point LMW needs to stop with the 3’s and penetrate.
Bingo!
That’s what she said.
Is Reid hurt?
I didn’t even think of that, but he has been awful the last couple of games. Was really out of control at times against OK st.
He had a really bad game the other night and started sulking. He may be sitting as a result of that. Tinkle challenges his guys to give good attitude, effort, and focus.
He won the Rice game for his team, but in some ways it was to his long range detriment.
Bummer. I thought he looked good the first few games and his size could help tonight. Auburn looks pretty small
Boy, Wayne still has to scream hands up when they are in a zone.
That’s what you get when you’ve run the matador defense for 6 years. Parker saying that Auburn having a hell of a time getting success against a disguised defense that is intentionally designed to throw the opponent off. Love Tinks!!
Such a basic idea. I mean we used to put our hands up and disguise defenses even playing school yard or street ball. It’s pretty sad this is considered a revelation.
We did too even in middle school. Guess that means that my coach in middle school was a better coach than CR. Now that’s sad!
We weren’t even an organized team. We were just high school kids playing on school yard courts…no coach…and we still knew enough to put hands in the air. It is instinctive if a guy is shooting to put your hands up. Just amazing stuff with CR….laziest man ever (it’s no wonder he was a banker).
Somewhat OT but I was talking with a USC fan the other day and the similarities between CR and Andy Enfield are scary. Guy was saying that Enfield is completely clueless and is another rich guy that had some success but isn’t cut out to be a major DI coach. Enfield will be a bigger failure than CR.
But he has a hot wife.
It’s really not hard to date attractive women. If I can do it anyone can.
Especially if you have big bucks like he does. Guy reminds me of Huey Long with that gap between his teeth.
Last 7 minutes Auburn has 6 points….maybe Tinkle made some adjustments
Held Auburn to only 12 points in the first 10+ min of the 2nd half. Much better defense
Did you hear Tinkle scream LANGSTONNNNN!? When they were in that zone.
I’m concerned about Duvivier’s offense, I think he’s putting pressure on himself.
He’s doing well to get in the lane and create but can’t finish
2 shitty calls killed some momentum against Ok st. and now two clear misses screw the Beavs again. I know Tinkle is letting them know.
This is going to be a tough loss.
The telecasters are excellent and know more about the Beavs than pac network guys. Sad.
I think Lamar knows the team pretty well.
Beavs have been the better team in the second half, just didn’t take advantage of chances. This loss will definitely sting.
These refs have sucked throughout the whole tournament.
It’s like they decided to ignore the 4ft half circle.
Can’t seem to make lay-ups this year
That missed layup just gave me bird flu
that charge gave me rhinovirus
Bruce Pearl is a SCUMBAG!!
He looks just like my uncle, who is also a scumbag.
your uncle’s a duck?
And Oregon Duck or a bird?
No he’s obviously not a bird. As far as I know he didn’t go to college. He’s a huge scumbag, though. Stole his mother’s estate while she was on her death bed. Doesn’t get any lower.
That’s messed up. Seen it in my life too, family doesn’t forget, or forgive.
3 buckets taken away by charges. Ouch.
should’ve used cash instead
Beavs need to learn how to win. You can tell they tensed up as the game went on. Tons of missed layups and free throws as the game got more clutch.
Thought the same. Auburn seemed to make the big baskets when they needed them, and we just couldn’t get it done. Free throw shooting will continue to haunt them in close games unless it gets better. It seems like if you get to D-1 level basketball, you should be able to hit 75% of your free throws at least, but I guess that’s just me. There was some stuff to like in this game though, despite the loss.
It won’t be long before Auburn is on probation under this guy! Three of those charges are questionable. Just have to regroup and get more wins.
Those three charges weren’t even questionable. All of them were within the half circle. Two of them were leaners where the defender didn’t even set until after the shooter was in the air, which pretty much negates the half circle anyway. The third was all ball pushing a flopper well within the half circle. It couldn’t have even been called a foul on the defender by an honest ref.
Oh well, good job good effort beavs
This loss is a bummer. But I love the new direction and obviously better coaching. Gotta captialize on the easy stuff though.
I also think the two shitty charging calls cost them momentum again. Come on refs, how hard is it for one of you to look at the half circle and see where the defenders feet are? If you forgot to look then you can’t call a charge.
switched over to SDSU/Zona. Anyone else see the little shimmy Rondae Hollis-Jefferson does before he shoots a FT? LMAO
I wasn’t successful but thanks anyway to whiskey soaked; mckalk & angry.
I got hung up on trying to get MS Office recognized by Firefox and also to get the Windows Media Player plugin installed.
No luck. Will give it another shot tomorrow. Will continue to use Chrome in the mean time.
Chrome is a google product, and google spies on your every move. I’d ditch that. At least mozilla is somewhat independent (though they did accept 50mil from google to make google.com the default home page)…
I got a Samsung Chromebook as a gift, so I use it as my “don’t care’ computer….like i said with the add-ons, it works fine for “Ukranian streams” and such.
fwiw – I was already running Firefox, then read what angry suggested adding (adblock, better privacy & ghostery) [in another thread] and added them.
Freaking awesome!!! Runs so much faster now. Ghostery shows you what little programs are attempting to use computer resources and lets you block them if you so desire.
Thanks, angry, for the recommendations!
Thanks for mentioning those 3 plugins CJ. I missed the thread where angry made that suggestion. I’ve now added them to my Firefox.
Given the noticeable improvement of Olaf and even Gomis/Reid/Cheikh to some degree, I am wondering what Tinkle could have done with Moreland? I know with his off court crap it would not have been a given, but did Easy E miss out on a few million more by not staying? Senior college superstar vs. current D-Leaguer?
Addendum: Moreland saw his first NBA action last night….34 seconds in a Kings defeat.
FWIW I feel bad for all the kids who were subjected to CR’s coaching, or lack thereof.
… and every kid since Jimmy… especially JJ’s kids. I would call that louse evil if I thought he had intelligence enough to know what he was doing.
Every kid including Jimmy. Anderson was a terrible coach. He got the Beavs into the current tailspin, after Miller had done great things.
FWIW in case you-all haven’t heard of the search engine called Start Page
https://startpage.com
Even though this one uses Google search to do the actual searching it doesn’t keep track of what you’re searching on the way Google search does if you’re using it by itself.
Yes, startpage is good, and duckduckgo is another one that protects privacy. The only time I’ll use google is if one of those sites doesn’t return results I want. Always stay logged out of your Google accounts, too, while browsing the web. I deleted most of my google emails. The problem is this: My friends still use them, so even if I write them using my AB email google can still read what I read on the other end (my friend’s mailbox). If you’re logged into a gmail account google can track you elsewhere.
It sucks.
Google does not allow encryption, which is no surprise since they want to build profiles of us based on what we do. I found a way around this. A chat client called Jitsi that allows encryption of chats. So you can use the gtalk/gmail protocol on there and jitsi encrypts it. This is great, but it requires your friends to be tech savvy and use Jitsi (and know how to setup an encryption key/fingerprint), and most people aren’t. Jitsi also encrypts VOIP by default, so it can replace Skype (no encryption, so Microsoft can listen to your calls), too.
Cool. But I’m not sure about a program that has the word duck in it, let alone using it twice. Ugh. Never the less I’ll be checking it and Jitsi out.
Thanks
Happy Thanksgiving!
Be safe.
Happy Thanksgiving to all Angry Beavs!
Remember when a lot of you dorks said Chip Kelly would make a bad NFL coach?
…(just because you were jealous how good he was at Oregon).
He’s winning with Mark Sanchez, terrible QB extraordinaire.
I don’t think anyone said Kelly wouldn’t make it. What was said was that the read option would be short-lived at best as a staple offense and would not work after NFL defensive coaches got tape on it. And that it true. Kelly has modified it fundamentally to make it just a play-action instead of a read. So while the play formations look similar and the action plays in the same direction, that mesh read is now mostly gone.
And, as I said years ago, it’s the speed game that makes Kelly’s teams so good, not great. His players are in great condition and play at a pace nobody else can at the moment. That was pretty obvious yesterday with a short week for two teams. One plays a game where healing is much more conducive due to both preparation and scheme.
And he still will not win much beyond the regular season. Once you get to the playoffs, teams become whole and prepared instead of the mish-mash of unprepared/short week/good on one side of the ball collection we get in the regular season.
But… getting to the playoffs gives you a chance, which is more than most teams get.
Traded 2 forty yard line Civil War tickets for a pair to the Men’s Basketball 9pm game against Mississippi St on December 3rd. Only caveat is I had to throw in $5. Still think it was worth it. Not impressed with Riley at all and will be a basketball and baseball only supporter until Riley leaves.
Might want to check those tickets more closely. That 9pm contest on Dec 3rd is against Mississippi Valley State. We play Mississippi St at 1pm on Dec. 13th. You still got an OK deal IMO. Riley will make it the Civil Snore.
I will be at the Wednesday night game as well (season tickets). Not really looking forward to the extremely late start as I have a nearly 3 hour drive, over the pass, going home.
Must be love….
Any chance we hire Nigel *Burton back? Since he left the defense has been going downhill. I say we make him ast HC/DC
I hope not. No more Riley coaching tree guys.

Matt Wells #5 and gets top billing with a big center article picture. Andersen from Utah St was interesting and doing nice job with Wisconsin, but if Oregon State was only smart enough to play its cards right, lucking out and getting an even better coach in Matt Wells would be a coup. What drives me nuts about BDC is he has little appreciation for a golden opportunity. Wells will get a Power 5 job within a couple years. Timing is perfect now and he can be afforded even with a Riley buyout as he makes just 600K currently. Definitely would jump all over a 1.5 million a year deal which is still lowest in the Pac-12.
After losing his senior QB last year he still finished last 8 games at 6-2 and won the conference. This year he is 9-3 while using a 4th string QB for much of the season. This is not a guy we want miss out on a perfectly good chance to get. Can’t imagine us finding a better fit than Wells in the next 4 years. Strike while the iron is hot! Get Coach Wells!
I think he’d appreciate the step up in competition and exposure AND the opportunity to play Utah regularly, thereby maintaining a profile in that state as a Utah State alum.
Amen!!!!!

I also like Jim McElwain
You heard it here first. McElwain to Florida and Baldwin from Eastern Washington to Colorado St. JB
PS: Banker family Thanksgiving ruined when the turkey got lose and couldn’t be contained.
Florida can afford the 6.5 mil McElwain buyout. As long as they keep their hands off Wells I don’t care who the Gators get. Wells also is who I would like to see the Beavers snare. Think he would make us relevant very quickly and be very popular like Tinkle. You listening DeCarolis and Massari?
Riley to Portland St. would solve all. Beavers would be out of that death contract, Riley could still make 1 million a year at PSU if negotiated right. At worse OSU makes up the difference. Riley at PSU since he would be new could last there 6 years if he had the interest to coach that long. At OSU I don’t see him lasting more than 2 more years without the bulk of the fanbase wanting him gone and some serious repurcussions for the program. This is Win-Win-Win for OSU, PSU and Riley. Then OSU gets the fresh start that more than half the fan base already wants which means more ticket sales, a rising star coach, and momentum for future Reser projects that without such change will struggle. How does a Holiday Bowl in 2016 with Coach Wells sound? Pretty tasty!
