  1. First time to be first!! Yea…PBH…props to me. Heading down to the game today with long time buddy and former basketball season ticket holder. I figure the game will be over about 5:15. Are any fellow AB’s interested in a post-game beer, or two? Might be nice to be able to put a face to some of these creative user names. Seriously… don’t you wonder what a whiskey soaked napkin looks like in person? So….drop in some ideas…and let’s see what happens. JB

  2. Unfortunately, have to be in Salem for other obligations, but gave my tickets to a friend who will use them. Can’t understand how seats sit empty. You have tix and can’t find someone to take them for free?

As the season is going along, the energy is building, by next year Gill will be a great venue, again.

  3. Chill out ya’all. The crowds will come. It’s sill a rebuilding year after all. With the decent showing we are having this year and the talent we are picking up next year. Gill will be rockin-to-the-brim soon enough.

  4. Somebody asked about the seating capacity the other day, it’s listed at 9,604 on Wikipedia but officially it’s 10,400 for basketball. I think the largest crowd this season was for the women’s civil war game, over 7,000.

  5. I’m nervous….I just want them to beat the teams that they are supposed to now. I don’t want any let down, but sometimes it feels like the margin for error is so slim. Some shitty officiating and a key player gets into foul trouble, etc.etc. I know the effort is always there, but a six man rotation is just not good.

Damn you, Victor Robbins, really selfish, whatever you did and don’t be surprised if reduces your playing time next year when reinforcements arrive. Think, Man!

    • I totally agree but on the other hand every win from here on out is gravy. Under CR we weren’t even supposed to win this many games this year. WT is seriously looking at an NIT admit (and maybe an NCAA). No matter how this season turns out from here on out I am happy. My hopes are going to go up in year three (all those recruits having at least one year of college ball experience). This program feels like it is back after a very long wait (I was a small child last time they were good). At this point I am willing to wait through the rebuild because it is clear that it is coming. I am very excited for the future.

      • Agreed, I don’t think they “should” win any games. Am I way off here. I think they are playing way above what their roster gives us. Underestimating our talent? Maybe… but I still standby the fact that they have to have good to excellent performances across the board to win every game.

        • Personally, I think it was all a reflection on CR and his lack of coaching ability. He was really a pretty good recruiter and brought in some good talent. He just didn’t know how to develop and get the players to win.

Someone said in a thread yesterday (I think) that these guys are all 3 star players. All it took was for someone to knows how to coach (and win) to develop and teach them to do it.

        • I think they are better than we thought they were. Mostly juniors, three years at college now. Very good athletes. 19 games is a pretty good baseline, I like milking the underdog role, but we have a lot of information now. They just won a game shooting less than 40% and they won another committing 16 turnovers. I wouldn’t call those excellent performances. The 7 guys that play (counting Robbins} do not look out of place on a D-1 court.

  6. Is anyone else curious if GP2 leaves after this year? He doesn’t look NBA ready but who knows what he will hear out there. I imagine his father would encourage him to continue to develop in college but he must be turning heads of scouts right now.

  7. Finally making the game today. Been cheering from the couch and now it’s time to get my lazy ass out there and in the stadium. TINKLE TIME BABY!!!

  8. Heading out, no takers on post-game. If anyone is interested we will probably go that nice place by the river just over the bridge, where Parker used to do the tv show. Can’t remember the name??? Look for two guys with Bud bottles on the table. Plus I still have my trademark goofy glasses. JB

PS: I almost forgot. Big congratulations are in order to our very own Jack. Yes folks before noon today he secured a big “win” against the imaginary Ducks that live in his head. Let’s all hope he continues his winning streak today against, the little old lady across the street that is spying on him, the barista that is trying to poison him and that guy on the news that is out to get him. Good luck Jack. We’re all with you buddy.

    • Hmmmm, this is fun. I’ve always had it in the back of my mind that you and Jack might be alternate personalities of the same person. It’s even more fun if Personality 1 is super paranoid and Personality 2 makes fun of Personality 1 for being paranoid.

      • Personality 1 went to the school near the confluence of Oak Creek and that river that runs near the school that sits in that town somewhere where that highway runs. Can’t remember the name??

Personality 1 knows Personality 2… personally. Personality 1 will just leave it at that.

          • I can equivocally say that the Oregon Ducks are garbage garbage garbage. An objective view tells me they cheat, and I just hate them so much that I am considering immolation in protest.

  9. The defense has been a mess today. They’ve been bailed out by Gomis’ rim protection but USC has gotten a ton of good looks. Worst the defense has looked in a while

  10. Doesn’t help that USC is playing way better than their record right now. Would love to win this but I expect a few loses to come this way during the season. Short roster and tired legs will allow this to happen from time to time. I still think it is pretty realistic for this team to end up with 8 conference wins this year which would’ve been one of CR’s best seasons in the perfect scenario. I love this season because of what it represents, win or lose today.

    • Dunno, I just assumed it was picking a target. I know that I used to go after Isiah Thomas solely because he looked like such a tool.

  11. Shout out to our old friend Ahmad Starks whose awesome foul on a three point shot in the corner led to a four point play which triggered a run which won the game for the Gophers.
The trip down memory lane featured standstill dribbling beyond the arc leading to several of his patented fall away three pointers on 3 for 10 shooting.

  12. Good game Beavs! I’m so happy that basketball is fun again. Prior to this season, I hadn’t watched a team regularly since Drexler left Portland.

  13. No streams that I could get so it was brutal only being able to listen instead of watch.

This team continues to amaze me. Good job WT you’re earning your pay. Unlike the previous coach.

      • When I try it I get “Please disable adblock” and when I do so I get the usual messages saying I need do download blah, blah, blah which I’m not about to do.

If you have any suggestions as to how I can get around this I’m all ears. Can’t afford to take the risk of downloading something nasty cuz this is my primary PC…..

        • If you type the words for that website in google separately and click the second option (not the one with the “i” in front), it usually works for me. It skips the adblock part. Usually the first two or three links are garbage and link to gambling stuff. I start checking links from 3 on to see if they work.

          • @osbeavs That turned out to be an interesting suggestion but so far no joy.

I searched on “sports feed 365” (without the quotes) and came up with the following hits:

Title ——————- What I saw when I clicked on that link
            1) FirstRow Sports — Black screen with instructions to disable AdBlock

            2) LiveStream365 dot com — A menu comes up with a lot of options. I clicked on Fox Sports US and the next thing that comes up is a msg about how I need to download blah, blah

            3) Feed2all —- the URL of this one has triple W dot i blah blah. Because of the “i” in the URL I didn’t click on it.

            4) 365 Stream Live — This one Has a column titled “Live Streams” but when I clicked on the Basket ball option nothing came up for me to choose. Currently @ 9:25 pacific when I click on Basketball I get a list of games in Japan and China but I can’t get any of them to work when I click on them.

            5) 365 Live Sports — This one has a menu of sporting events and AZ vs Cal is one of them. When I click on the link for the game I get a “Please install iLivid…..” msg. Then I get the usual Activate Adobe Flash message which I reply “Yes” to. Once Adobe is activated I get the “Error: Reload page and try again” message. I reload and get the same Reload and try again msg. So close but no cigar.

            The hits following the above 5 are for things like (reading from the URL) football 365; aia365; espn dot go; ihigh; facebook;

Again thanks and if you have any further suggestions……

          • You will get one with an “i” before FRS. The second search result that I get is just FRS and I can typically watch the Blazers that way.

          • I have also liked boss cast dot net for Pac-12. Used ad block as their website is nuts without it. So far the only thing I can get to function on it is pac-12 but it comes in HD. Everything else displays error when I try to play through them.

        • Do you see any game stream when following the link, even if it is covered with ads, or just a message you need to update Media Player, or some such, and nothing else? Are you using Firefox?

          • @OSU82 When I click on “sports feed 365 dot eu / sport / basketball . html ”

I get a black screen which says “Please disable ad block to enter in the website. How to disable Adblocker……. “.

I’m running FireFox along with AdBlock and Ghostery.

On some of the other websites I get the “You need to update XYZ” but not on sports feed 365, just the black screen with the Please disable message.

        • You need patience for most of the sites. Once you’ve chosen a link and have the tab at the top of your screen with the name of the game you want to watch, there are several ads for download pages but keep xing them out – you don’t need want them any of them. Close the tabs (usually for video games) that appear on the top of the screen. Be careful, too in that some of the alerts refer to something you probably have on your computer – Flashplayer, Java – but they aren’t the official websites. That is not how you would be notified about an update anymore than your bank would call you on the phone and ask for your bank details.

Usually, the big x opens up another ad so look carefully and you will see a small x that blends in – that is the closeout. Also, I’ve discovered (this is with a pc) not to scroll down with the sidebar because a new ad opens. Use the down arrow on your keyboard, instead. Sometimes, if you go down on the page, there will be the word close to click on. Some ads will put up another screen asking if you want to leave the page. You do, of course. You might also get a message asking if you want to discontinue the dialog. Same.

Some sites will load a setup. It’s only for the setup – not the download. Nevertheless, once I have the game, I delete them.

You usually have to suffer through all this for 2-3 minutes and the site then settles down except for an occasional Russian women ad.

          • @helmsley Thanks. I’m familiar with what you’re describing as that’s about what I used to see when I was running Google Chrome with AdBlock but without Ghostery. Since I’ve switched over to Firefox I’m having a lot more grief especially with some of them.

Recently I have had some luck with CricFree but they don’t always carry the Beav games. I also had success with Bosscast once but now I’m getting the Error: Please reload message. Another one that sometimes works is StreamKing but they weren’t carrying the Beavs tonight.

Are you running FireFox as you browser?

            Thanks again

          • No, I am using Chrome for the games. No adblockers (groan away ABs). That sounded like too much work. I have noted all the other websites mentioned but still going with first row sports. I type that (in words) into the address/search window – no address because they move around. There is one that wants you to “free register.” I don’t. I go to the next one. Sometimes it has the number 1 in it.

When you get the site – you usually won’t have ads yet, if you do – x them out. Sometimes that closes down the site. Go again. click basketball tab. See list. Click on the game you want: Sometimes it’s double, sometimes single – click until you have the game tab at the top. Then you need to do the ad closing thing – sometimes you’ll get the audio or even the video in back of the ads until you close them down.

Suggestion: practice on non- Beav games until you get the hang of it.

          • I use a Chromebook to watch streams of the games. I downloaded Ghostery and Adblock per Angry’s recommendation and I don’t get any crap, it goes straight to the game.

      • This one doesn’t like adblock. When I try to bring it up with Adblock activated I get the error message: “Error: Reload page and try again.” and can’t get any further than that as long as AdBlock is active. If I pause it I get the messages saying I need to download XXXX.

As I mentioned above if you know of any tricks that I might employ which wouldn’t put my PC at risk I’d sure like to know what they are.

        Thanks again.

      • Always get there early. We noticed right away, before the stands were even 1/3 full that people were sitting it the top-row seats. We knew at that point there would be a lot of people at the game.

It was awesome! I don’t know if they showed the GP honors on TV or not but he got quite a standing O.

  14. Less than stellar performance by our Beavs and a better than expected performance from Spoiled Children. Coming out with the dub is fine by me man. Cheikh was getting bodied down low, Langston had a less than stellar game, the crowd was non-existent through that USC run that was capped by that ferocious dunk, but Jarmal came up big and GPII did his thing as usual.

I really have to refrain from making wins and losses expectations for the whole season, so I’m just gonna say I hope we split this road trip, end up 6-3 through the halfway point, and call it good. Scare the crap out of Arizona, and take advantage of Arizona State’s weaker home court advantage (other than that curtain). This team is far exceeding expectations and I’m happy about it. 14-5 and 5-2 in conference is outstanding, even with a weak Pac-12. Beavs weren’t expected to do this well and now look.

Apparently Robbins is not suspended for a drug thing but something else. He might come back sooner, but I seriously doubt that.

  15. I wonder if CR watches the Beavs success from afar and realizes to himself that he sucked, or if he is able to rationalize his poor record away. Is there any other way that it could possibly look at it other than as a coach, he sucked?

  16. It is very interesting, the things that can happen when the coach masters his craft to the point in which student-athletes can compete from a place of self-expression rather than one of fear, or anger.

  17. The only thing that really pissed me off about today’s game was that Reinhardt walked just about every time he touched the ball. I could burn the primary defender if allowed to walk like that.

But man it was an awesome day. It was just gorgeous outside.

I’m going to have some confused plants if this weather keeps up.

    • Yeah, the walking no-calls were bad! Did you hear me yelling at the refs? Seems like everyone else in the place did. Told me if I kept it up I would be spanked. oooo, please!

  18. I really, really want to go to a game, but I kind of don’t want to go by myself. As is, most of my friends are more interested in the TrailBlazers, and the two that are interested in college basketball root for Arizona (since they went there before transferring here). Should I just bite the bullet and go alone?

  19. What’s with that guy who kept shouting at USC’s Stewart all game long? Personal grudge? Crush? He was doing it even when OSU had the ball!

  20. “If you come to Gill Coliseum, you have to bring your A-game because the Beavers are undefeated at home.” – Pac-12 announcer after OSU win

Must have been watching some Ed Ray :)

  21. Jimmy steals Mikey’s lunch money. Flips a Nebraska commit to Mechicken.

Jim Harbaugh lands first verbal commitments at Michigan
    SI.com? – 12 hours ago

Will MR think this is a neat deal?

    • I was listening to Gerry DiNardo being interviewed on the radio about Big 10 recruiting…he specifically said that Nebraska’s recruting has been slowly “dying on the vine” because they have a limited recruiting footprint and it’s just gotten worse since Urban Meyer was hired (who has reach into the South) and now Jim Harbaugh (who will have national appeal). The interviewer was trying to imply that Nebraska could get back to national prominence and DiNardo shut him down, saying it’s not going to happen.

Welcome to your last HC job, MR!

  22. Here’s an interesting cj tidbit…..

I started Grad school at age 63 and took my 2 sons to the Dad’s Day football game that year. It was fun explaining over and over that I was the student, not them.

I even have a Beav t-shirt that says “STUDENT” on the front with “OS” on the back. I’ll have to wear it to a game. If it still fits, I didn’t get this one from Omar’s Tent Shop….like I do now.

  23. After 19 games, I have to say that OSU has P-12 talent athletically this year with their top 7 players and these guys have a pretty good hoops IQ. I don’t know how you could argue that they don’t pass the eyeball test, they defend 1 through 5, they protect the rim, they move the ball, they make free throws. Some struggles on offense, but has anyone seen Louisville play? The Beavs score enough to win a lot of their games.

As mentioned before they were mostly 3 star recruits and Payton is a 4 star talent with his overall impact. I tip my hat to Jack, who said these guys had ability all along. Credit Tinkle for having a system where they could excel.
