Probably mostly football talk leading up to the spring game, yeah? The baseball team is treading downward. As I said in the weekend series thread, I haven’t watched baseball in two weekends now. I couldn’t stand watching Gabe Clark and Caleb Hamilton any longer, so I stopped. It’s been nice.
But I’m excited about the spring game next weekend. Sound like the players are pumped, and it’s going to have an atmosphere to it this year. Here‘s some recent video with Andersen. Good to hear things are improving. You can hear Andersen talking up Collins…he really really wants to find reasons to start him.
FWIW I thought Beau Bisharat’s comments after his visit to OSU were interesting.
Here’s an excerpt from O Live:
Despite that interest, however, the four-star athlete sees that coach Gary Andersen has an uphill battle in Corvallis given the program’s recent slide.
“I really liked Coach Andersen. I know he’s kind of in a pickle right now with everything. He just got there and it’s kind of a mess for him,” he said. “He doesn’t not like it, he’s just trying to clean his stuff up and they are trying to get stuff together, get recruiting going and get the new facility started.”
I find it odd that a recruit would call the program a “mess” and the coach is in a “pickle”. He sounds like he is parroting things he has heard from other coaches/programs who are recruiting him to push him away from Oregon St.
I left out the two paragraphs which preceded his comments about Oregon State.
——————-
Of the five stops, Bisharat said “Washington was probably number one,” because of the personal touch head coach Chris Petersen put on the trip.
“I really like Coach Petersen and what he had to offer. We talked to him for awhile,” he said. “We didn’t even talk about football, really. It was mostly him talking to us about becoming a man and that he handles all that stuff with life lessons.”
———–
So I took it to be that he’s already decided on UW and thus felt a little freer to speak candidly about his interpretation of the situation @ OSU.
I for one welcome his comments because I suspect that it gives me a better understanding re what’s going on in the background. And no I’m not saying he’s right, just some interesting comments.
I think he’s probably talking about how Petersen has everything in place and has established himself now that he has a year under his belt. Meanwhile, Andersen is only months into his job and has to implement a system and establish recruiting ties and define his mission, all without the luxury of having the facility upgrades complete. Once this and that and everything occurs, our situation won’t seem so hectic.
Best news I’ve heard all weekend is that ESPN has parted ways with Lou Holtz

Notre Dame AD must have run out of mush mouth honk $$.
Thufferin Thuccotash!
Here’s the Canzano podcast from last week that I mentioned in the previous thread. Interview starts at 1:14. Talks about the top 2 QB’s just a little before 1:24, between some softball questions.
I’m probably reaching here thinking the interview was set up, but it certainly helped LDR make up his mind about transferring considering he took off the day after this aired.

Watched practice Saturday. Not impressed with quarterback play. Pick it and stick it throws that are a second late. Gonna see a lot of INTs next year with this crew. Hate to say it but offense reminds me of Pettibone days. We are gonna see a lot of bubble screens and give up runs on 3 and 10 because we won’t have a QB. I see 2 wins.
You’re going to see a ton of bubble screens because that’s a staple of the spread offense. Hi, welcome to the Pac-12. Have you ever watched a game?
Thanks for the kind words Fred we almost really had it going there….those were the good old days. (Not really)
@ Fred: Thanks for sharing your observations. I’m glad there are practices left because that means there’s still time for the bugs to get worked out.
Strength of Offense is WR, sad that we won’t run an offense to get them the F ing ball. Appreciate that Andersen has an offense he wants to run but don’t sacrifice wins to feel good about yourself. Thought if was a great hire initially but after seeing what I saw I am not optimistic. Feels like Andersen puts his system before the players he has to work with. Hard to run the ball when defense doesn’t have to worry about the pass. Hope I’m wrong about my prediction but we are gonna be very one dimensional. We can’t win if we get behind and if we have any injuries on offensive line we are sunk.
burying a coach before spring practices are even over or played one game? Ya know there’s a fan base about 40 miles to the south of Corvallis that you could jump on their bandwagon
what the fuck do you expect????? This is a program transitioning from a slow pro style offense to a faster tempo spread offense. Do you expect that change to happen overnight? Jesus fucking tits Helen. And I thought my expectations were high
I appreciate you sharing your first-hand experience at practice, but your arguments seem to indicate you are looking for complaints.
You are upset with the current system’s lack of emphasis on the wide receivers, but your previous comment indicates there is no one that could deliver the ball to them, so what’s the point in emphasizing the passing game? Sounds like an exercise in futility.
And, you criticize Andersen for putting his system before his current group of players, which were recruited by the previous staff. So, Andersen is supposed to completely overhaul his team’s offensive system for a couple of years, even though he didn’t inherit a capable QB to operate said system? Being adaptable is one thing, but I don’t know of a coach in the country that can or is willing to flip-flop to that extent.
I fully expect the offense to be rough the next couple of years. But, personally, I want the head coach to do things his way.
Well said!
@ Fred: I’m glad you’re sharing your thoughts even though I find myself taking issue with some of them.
First of all I’m not privy to what the coaches are talking about in their meetings and I’m assuming you’re in the same boat.
So here are a few thoughts that went through my head when I read your post.
Strength of the of the offense is supposed to be the WRs but there have been several reports about the receivers, as a whole, being disappointing. Perhaps they’re not as good as the fans thought they were?
Andersen’s offense: It’s obvious it won’t be a pro style but other than that, do we know what the offense will look like next September. Is it possible that they’re trying what they’d like to run just to see if the kids are capable of executing such an offense?
Is the OL capable of doing what’s required in the offense the coaches would like to run? I don’t recall exactly what he said but in a recent interview Andersen indicated the OL needed to do a lot of physical conditioning over the summer. Perhaps there isn’t enough talent on the roster?
In conclusion – OSU is paying the coaching staff a hell of a lot of money so based on that and the W/L record of the coaching staff, I’m hoping that over the summer they’ll come up with an offense that will complement the talent that they have to work with.
In that Canzano interview I linked above, Andersen specifically said the Starting OL is one of the stregths of the team right now, especially if Isaac comes back healthy (which he sounded optimistic about) He did say the reserves are young and need to improve, but I think OL will be capable if he’s willing to bring them up in an interview like that.
He has to implement his system. I understand the desire but he has to do it to convince recruits for 2016 and beyond.
If that means struggling some in 2015 so be it.
Riley implemented his system after Pettibone. Its what you have to do. The problem is when you refuse to adjust your system to fit the talent you are able to recruit (which was Riley’s eventual downfall).
If I have to listen to that shitty rip off song again I’m gonna start smashing radios. It’s all a rip off. Just like Tom Petty and Marvin gay, I hope the lawyers crush these losers!!
That’s all they play anymore. Rip off communist bullshit!!!
Wonder how their cheap unoriginal songs would sound if they were having live grenades lobbed in their direction!!!!!!!!
?
Do you also sleep under bridges and drink bottled liquids in bags?
Kind of ironic that one of the bullpen gas tanks is named Heimlich…. I guess he doesn’t know how to stop choking. JB
Heimlich actually did what he needed to do to win. Hamilton and Hickey did the choking.
QB will get it together, Collins should be going to Prom next weekend. Ever think that with as much trouble the Offense has had getting it together, that Maybe the defense is playing part of it? They are throwing blitzes and coverages and disguised fronts at a couple 18/19 year olds while still trying to get receivers used to actually being rubbed and jammed at the LOS during practice. I would take Collins completing over half of his passes(although barely) and not throwing a single INT or fumbling on a read any day of the week at this point. Baby steps.
Funny stuff. Duck track runner celebrates his win at the end of the race just a little too soon, and gets passed by a UW runner at the finish line. The look on his face is priceless.

The spring game is the last thing to look forward to until fall camp. All the other sports are crapping out. Baseball seems to just not have it after a good start in non conf play.
Plenty of us knew this would be a down year in baseball. In some cases, talent will win out over experience, but in general you need both.
There’s still another month and a half of baseball. Why are people acting like the season is over?
If Casey would put players in the best positions to succeed maybe they would. I still think if the coaches get things right they can turn this losing streak around. Yeah the trend is down, but a month and a half is a long time.
It is.
For comparison, how long have you been saying “if” thus far?
Wide receiver is a strength of team..because of actual production last year or based on most of the guys coming back and surely we hope that they can get open this time around? There were some bright spots to celebrate from last year yet no hard numbers to indicate that this would be an record setting group, if only Dan Marino were pitching. Fred likes the pro offensive philosophy and likes the Riley approach. Fair enough. But if you buy that theory and you buy into the theory of “System (Riley) Sophistication”, then you would have to say that under Riley, this group would be doomed. They have/had no one with any usable experience at quarterback. Fred, this would be the guy tasked with throwing to the wide receivers.
AND to top it off, the ones being considered for QB are true or redshirt freshmen
It’s funny to watch the twitter habits of our favorite O-live writer, Andrew Nemec. You can tell when he makes the rounds on the Beavrecruiting twitter account. He often retweets things that we’ve put out there, then he goes and follows the players that we’ve shown OSU offering, and asks them to do an interview with him. We’re basically doing half of his job for him.
Well, we can block him…so he can’t read our posts.
Edit: i just blocked him. F that guy.
Sorry Nemec, you’re gonna have to earn your paycheck.
can’t he come here and just read the twitter feed then?
it’s a public twitter, so anyone can see it when your not logged in. He won’t be able to click around as easily though, so it’s a small win. Fuck that guy.
He probably doesn’t know all that and will stay logged in.
Or, time to put AB behind a pay wall!
can you put a label above the twitter feed that just says “F.U. Andrew Nemec” to replace “Recruiting updates”?
at least he’d be forced to read it any time he comes by.
LMAO! DO IT Angry!
Kerry Eggers article in the Portland Tribune about the QB’s………………Sounds like Collins is up to 185. But is having me first issues. At least that’s how I read it. If that’s the case, you don’t play him until he does get it.
The 6-3, 185-pound Collins — who was 8 for 15 for 52 yards and a touchdown passing in the scrimmage — has all the makings of a spread-offense quarterback as a runner. Problem is, that’s primarily what he wants to do.
“There were a couple of times today when that whistle was blowing (signaling a tackle) where (defenders) ain’t getting him,” Baldwin said. “My problem with Seth is he wants to run rather than hand the ball off. He missed on some reads. We have some powerful backs. Hand the ball off. You’ll get enough carries. His idea is, ‘I’m going to keep the ball and gain a lot of yards.’ Well, carry out your fakes and hand the ball off.”
http://www.pamplinmedia.com/pt/12-sports/256671-126766-qb-list-a-little-scary-for-beavers
“We’ve made great progress,” he said in reference primarily to Mitchell and Collins. “We were high on two throws today that caused interceptions. They made the right reads and were just high on the throws, so it’s accuracy. But both of them did a nice job. We put a lot of stuff in for today. Both of them did a nice job managing the offense, but they weren’t accurate.”
Accuracy is everything when throwing, so I’m not sure what his point is.
McMaryion, who was 3 for 4 for 13 yards passing, also is blessed with some running skills but still needs plenty of work in the passing game.
“I’m very impressed with him for a guy not getting a lot of reps,” Baldwin said. “He has paid attention and done a nice job. I’m feeling better and better about him all the time.”
Sounds like MM is in the mix and progressing. I sticking with my prediction that he’ll start. He runs better than Mitchell and throws better than Collins. So why not? They seem obsessed with Collins since he’s there guy, so it might be a political issue….
I liked Marcus just based on his HS film as well. Hopefully it’s not a political issue that’s keeping him down.
If the coaches will bury Marcus @ 3rd on the depth chart despite him being better than Mitchell and Collins then we have a much larger problem than who’s going to be the starter next season…
I hope McMarylon is given full consideration, Baldwin’s quote at the end of the article concerns me in that regard.
I saw that, but these other two options are so flawed MM might force his way into the discussion. The coaches are probably trying to keep practice on point by naming two guys and giving them all the reps, but I’m sure they’d be thrilled if the 3rd stringer outplays them. It shouldn’t be too hard to do…
It sounds like every one of these QBs is flawed, and small things/politics separates them at this point.
You should just get into coaching Angry, you know more about the QB’s than football staff. And you know more than National Championship Coach Casey about who should play where.
I don’t have the time.
I’m sure that’s what it is. Since you know more than million dollar contract coaches, I’m sure your current endeavors are far more lucrative
Ahhhh… argumentum ad crumenam… literally.
(a) I don’t have the time.
(b) I don’t have any desire to teach (or be around) 18 year old jocks.
(c) You assume I want millions of dollars, don’t already have millions, and/or want to be a coach.
My passions lie elsewhere. It’s that simple. All that being said, Casey is playing the wrong guys, and I won’t watch baseball until it changes. Andersen has been good so far, but he’s shown signs of favoring Collins because it’s his recruit, which is lame. WT messed up with the walkons. Otherwise, things are okay with OSU athletics right now.
Casey deserves the benefit of the doubt. Tinkle is a HUGE upgrade. Andersen is on the right path. Maybe you’re just looking for something to be “angry” about.
I’m not angry, and I gave him the benefit of the doubt. Do you see any threads about him? I just stopped watching because I completely disagree with his lineups and the way he uses the pitchers this year.
Where do you see complaints about Tinkle or Andersen, other than the walk-on debacle? It’s the opposite. I think you’re looking for something to be angry@angry about.
What’s gonna happen when angry@Angry@angry shows up?
Saying that you don’t watch the team and completely disagree with his lineups and saying he doesn’t put his players in position to succeed…. That isn’t exactly giving Casey the benefit of the doubt.
Well… that’s a downer answer to my question.
Anyone have something better?
shit gonna get real fo sho!
“Me first issues” My concern as well, that and politics.
I may be overreacting, but his twitter handle of “seth the great” seemed a bit over the top to me. NOTE: twitter says that handle hasn’t yet tweeted, but the same thing comes up when I check @angrybeavs so there is probably something I’m not doing right.
PS: noticed Casey is following @angrybeavs! EDIT, looks like its @angrybeavs following Casey. As said, I’m not to sharp on this twitter gizmo.
Collins is at OSU largely because of Baldwin. Baldwin was all over him at CSU as a QB. OSU had Collins pegged as a WR. Naturally, to get him to break with SJSU, they had to promise him a fair shot right away, and Collins had to agree to come right away. His background suggests helicopter parent in the picture. I think that in the end, he will have to earn his job. If he is anointed without earning the spot, that will be a significant problem.
I’m going to helicopter comment you until you give in and tell me how my life would be better had the quacks won the football NC
And… water is wet.
It truly pains me to do this… because this is a really really bad tune that I have heard more than anyone deserves to be tortured… er… heard… or something.

Not buying into the fear that we can’t comeback on teams when down 10 or slightly more by being more focused on the run than the pass this year.
That was Riley’s biggest fallacy IMO. You can get fortunate but odds are mire often than bit that you are only more likely to have stalled drives and get even further behind if too pass focused as Riley was. For crimminy sake we saw that formula fail near 25 times out of 28 by Riley the past few seasons if I recall.
Better to keep grinding posituve yardage and putting yourself in better down and distance. When it is 3rd and 3 or 4 you have much better options and will have to complete some throws but I for one am so glad to get rid of the pass happy ways that may look ok in the air but too consistently sustain drives without the more frequent problems arising like more interceptions, more zero gain and much worse more negatuve plays losing 6 or 7 yards that seriously put a team behind the 8 ball.
I’m fine seeing Brown, Woods and Nall get quality looks and think that us our best bet to see some of our good receivers be able to get in better position for success and doing their part. If they aren’t worried about the run enough then the margin to make good plays by the WRs will be less and there will be too many tight balls against Pac-12 defenses without as good of spacing.
I am putting over under on 5.4 wins this season. Feel like there is a good and realistic shot for a bowl in Andersen’s first year. Will take winning 4 of 11 Pac-12 games which is doable. Have some faith GA and crew will put in the work with the players so they can have success. The Sprung Game will be a good gauge on how much more hard work this team requires.
With a better attitude and joi de vivre from the players and coaches I remain optimistic.
“Will take winning 4 of 11 Pac-12 games which is doable.”
I take it you weren’t a math major?
My bad..4 of 9. Doable if not quite probable.
I know. Was just razzin ya
*WHISTLE*
False start!
I do like calling it the “Sprung Game,” though. I actually like that. It’s different. It’s got a good beat. I’ll give it a ten Dick.
Dick? Well it does say that on my birth certificate. As for the ten, I won’t show you my dick. You aren’t worth two squirts of piss anyways

STrib: Coaches let players run practice, setting up offseason
per Joe:
Spring practice has ended. So what now?
The Gophers are back in the weight room already. The coaches have left them on their own to practice until training camp opens Aug. 6. But these captains’ practices aren’t just a bunch of guys out throwing the ball around. It’s an extension of the things they worked on throughout spring practice.
In other words, they’ll be out there working on the no-huddle offense, etc. Last Friday, on the day before the spring game, the coaches wanted to see how it would look, so they let the players run practice. The players built their own practice scripts and everything. Mitch Leidner ran the offense. Briean Boddy-Calhoun handled the defensive backs. Jon Christenson, who is rehabbing a leg injury, had a visor on with a sheet of paper filled with practice information, in a tribute to Matt Limegrover.
“They did awesome,” coach Jerry Kill said. “Our job is to get those guys so knowledgeable that they could go coach if they wanted to. They need to understand everything.”
It’s such a stupid farce. The NCAA rules on coachless practice, it doesn’t change a thing. These student-athletes still must devote all this non academic time to sports, regardless of whether there is a coach present or not. Just abolish these fully circumvented rules already. The NCAA should allow the coaches to hold and be present at as much practice as they wish. It’s not like these athletes get extra school time as a result of these ancient rules. Or heck, maybe just randomly enforce random crap!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xzFrO4JfMCY
Dat voice doe.
So weird hearing about Tinkle going after JC guys and 5th year guys right now, just because the minutes glut is coming and it also looks like the writing is on the wall that Robbins is outta there. Any word lately on Boucher? I also see via the feed that Derrick Gordon from UMass is considering playing here. As it stands with no VR, they’re at 12 scholarships (5 incoming freshmen, 5 seniors, 2 juniors). So they can add one more or add two if WT pays for Tres. I really would like to know what’s on the docket as far as 2016 HS class since that’s gonna have to be a heavy class. Haven’t heard much.
Need to see the baseball team get some good hitting in today and gain some confidence before Arizona this weekend.
Andersen really just dropping knowledge like always. The spring game oughta be interesting. Format: 2 actual quarters, 2 running time quarters, no special teams other than PAT/FGs (so no punts), Sitake/Baldwin vs other assistants. I’m interested to see what kind of interactive activities there’ll be for the fans, just because I have a group of HS kids that I’m bringing to the game.
Gotta think Boucher was being explored as a potential replacement for Gomis. So not sure if they’d still need to pursue that, although I don’t really like Olaf in the starting lineup.
Then there’s Gordon. Do we need a 1 year rental? I’ve never seen Gordon play. His stats aren’t mind-blowing. Would he even make an impact next year? I’d rather see the young guys get playing time to develop.
Gordon would be a very good fit on the team. Can’t shoot from the perimeter but very good at attacking the rim and gets to the foul line a ton. Tinkle wants to make the NCAA Tournament next year badly and doesn’t want to have to rely on freshmen to do it. Getting a guy like Gordon helps eases the young guys into things and gives them a smaller role and gives the team needed depth. Then the following year Thompson, Bruce and Tinkle along with Duvivier can really tank the reins and carry the team. With Gordon they’re a definite tourney with GPII probably gonna be player of the year in the conference next year.
Having a noob at pg can be really painful to watch, so an experienced one sure helps things.
I like the way you think.
Derrick Gordon? The openly gay Derrick Gordon? Is that the one?
not sure why that got you a thumbs down, but yes, same guy
brings a whole new meaning to “attacking the rim”
Yup. Can’t wait to hear the student section chants at the TTATT.
yes I am sure the Shit Crew will keep it very classy
At today’s post practice presser Andersen declines to comment on QB’s as individuals. However, when describing the state of the group as a whole, he referred to all three by name; polar opposite of the “we’re down to 2 and we are happy with that” (paraphrased) statement a couple days back by Baldwin.
Pull your head out of your ass, man!
Fucking Duck troll!
You’re slipping, BN GI, no reference to flying bullets or to grenades. But, keep trying. Or, just go back to your video games.

Looks like Alema Pilimai is a guy the Beavs are targeting as a potential QB for the 2016 class. Big kid at 6’5″ and over 200lbs. Rivals has him listed as an OLB, but Beavs are recruiting him as an Athlete, and singled him out for his potential as a QB who could fit other positions if qb doesnt work out. Beavs were first to offer and BYU has since, plus sounds like UW and Utah are high on him. Film shows him as a dual threat guy. Visiting Corvallis soon

For Angry,
A little background on the far west classic since you said it was before your time. Used to be one of the top tournaments back in the day……………..It became very watered down in the latter years and they started having trouble getting quality opponents.
“The tournament has suffered in recent years due to a lack of big-name competition. The big-time basketball powers don’t want to commit themselves to a three-game tournament unless it’s in Alaska or Hawaii, where the contests don’t count in the official season total of games. You’ll never get the North Carolinas and Indianas back here,” he said. “They can stay home and make $500,000.”
Alaska and Hawaii? Recall I said the Great Alaska Shootout used to be one of the premier holiday tournaments around. Now? It’s garbage and I can’t believe they are still doing it
http://newsok.com/favorite-hard-to-find-for-far-west-classic/article/2210136
“Old-timers recall the Far West Classic as a must watch in the days between Christmas and New Year’s Eve. The Beavers owned the tournament for many years, winning 10 straight titles and 27 games in a row until Bobby Knight’s Indiana Hoosiers knocked them off in 1966. Great teams from North Carolina, Minnesota, Michigan State (with Magic Johnson) and Clemson were featured over the years.”
http://portlandtribune.com/pt/12-sports/243833-111098-andersen-hiring-energizes-beaver-nation
That tournament is how heard about OSU back in the day.
The only downside I can see if they get good teams that use it to help poach local kids.
I’m glad they are bringing it back.
It feels like there’s finally enough uprising in fan bases around the country to start seeing some quality non-con schedules. UCLA getting into the tourney may have upset some people. But they played a bunch of quality games early and were rewarded for that. I would like to see more of it.
Fans who pay for season tickets have grown increasingly weary of paying for a bunch of fluff home games. But to get the good home and homes, you have to be quality yourself… or at least guarantee a payout… which likely requires being good enough to draw fans who will get you the revenue to guarantee those payouts. Perhaps it takes us getting back into the top 25 consistently to draw those big names to the new tourney and get the home and homes. Until we do, we’re an RPI suck.
They did. Kentucky, Gonzaga, North Carolina, Oklahoma and Coastal Carolina were all NCAA tournament teams.
Add UAB to that list. However they only went 2-4 in those games beating UAB and CCU. Not exactly a ringing endorsement. But will give them credit for scheduling those games. It works for Michigan State and they are always tough in March
That’s another good point. Izzo has his players ready to roll and make adjustments on the fly come tourney time because they’ve played some of the best in the country outside their conference already. It does you no good to play cupcakes then slog through a conference schedule where styles aren’t exactly homogenous, but do resemble each other more than they do styles in other conferences. And if you play the better teams in your non-con, it’s a ton easier to scout anyone in the tourney since it’s likely you can watch one of the teams you played and see what the formula is for winning versus how they matched up to you.
can’t disagree with any of that. Izzo’s system and coaching has been working for almost 20 years now. No reason to try anything different
Older article from back in December with some peers of GA and some of his former players and their opinion of him. My apologies if it was posted already as I just now found it

Saw some quotes from Jalen Mayden, the 2018 QB from Texas that the Beavs offered recently. He and his brother visited OSU a couple of weeks ago. Here’s what he had to say about his time visiting the OSU practice. Sure doesn’t sound like the old days.
I know they don’t talk about injuries anymore, but looks like Jalen Grimble must have had some type of knee surgery this week? Has anybody heard anything about this?

Luck…………………….O……………..Da…………….Beavs!
He seems to think it’s nothing serious. Maybe some sort of clean up…maybe just a little swelling.
Then again, hoping for that would be hoping for continued dominance in Baseball. Luck o da beavs, indeed.
Saw they had him slimmed down and playing DE also. Hope he’s ready.

Angrybeavs hit a few milestones this month:
3 million views, and 100,000 comments. Good job, ya’lls. The twitter feed helps lure in new readers, too. You guys should also drop mention when you call Mike Parker’s show, and also when you post on o-live.
I consider AB a watchdog group, rather than people searching for criticism (we still have this reputation, but it’s another lazy narrative). The more people we have on board critically observing, the more accountable everyone will be. So what I ask of you guys is to promote when you can, and those of you doing so, thanks, and keep up the good work.
Do you know how many views/comments belong to Jack?
the @beavrecruiting handle hit 600 followers today. was at 500 just a couple of weeks back, so pretty good growth.
FYI, if anybody does want to retweet items from the feed, it helps most to re-tweet the ones coming directly from this account. If you see the old-school Benny logo, those are the ones that help gain the most exposure. (also helps for recruits to see that the fan base is engaged and interested in the team)

I could query the database to find that, but it’s not in the wordpress interface.

What improvements have you seen over the course of spring practices?
Villamin: “We’re starting to play faster. It’s not as big of a playbook so I feel like we’re getting it better; we’re starting to play faster. I didn’t think anybody was that tired with the up-tempo offense, so I think we’re starting to get more in shape with it. When we get more in shape, we make more plays. I think we’re starting to get more comfortable and settle down. ”
What have you learned about Coach Andersen over this last month and change?
Villamin: “He’s a cool guy, but he doesn’t play no games. If he wants something done he’s gonna tell you he wants this done. If it doesn’t get done he’s gonna put somebody else in there. Right to the point; right down to business. I like him a lot. He likes to have fun, too. It’s not always business serious. We had a dance battle the other day; we have all this fun stuff. You want to get everything done, but if you get everything done we have some fun at the end.”

So there it is again. Straight from the horses mouth about Riley’s “complex playbook”. And also he wants guys in there that will get the job done. If you don’t he will put someone in that will. Not playing favorites to upperclassmen who have been in the system longer. Poor Nebraska
This doesn’t have the feel of the flash in the pan. Beavers will be a top 10 team every season after this one under Andersen or it’s going to explode after three seasons.
Andersen is on a mission, and whether the right kids will follow him here to Corvallis, or they will force him to walk the plank. No safety nets within sight. No radio for backup.
Lots of practice and down time between now and kickoff, hard to say much about any position right now.
A top 10 EVERY SEASON?? LOL!!!!!
Top ten in the Pac-12 perhaps.
I chuckled at that one too
More like BeaverNation G High
“We had such a routine and a simple life in Corvallis. You miss that,” he said.

Those poor bastards
Think he’s gonna miss it a lot more after he gets abused by Urb
and Harbaugh
Heck, he’ll probably get abused by Pat Fitzgerald, the Riley of the Big 10
With the new conference split and schedules, he lucks out and does face those two unless he gets to the B1G title game. I have a hard time seeing that happen. That is the minimum expectation from that fan base. When Neb .was added they thought they were going to come in dominate the B1G. The one time they did get the game they got an all time beat down from Wisky.
LOL, as I finished typing this my older brother with the two degrees from Neb. called and started blathering on about how great their spring game was, how MR was so amazed at the crowd, and how great a staff he has assembled and what a perfect fit he is!
Me: I think he is depressed and has realized he made an emotional decision and fucked up big time.
Bro not buying my analysis.
My brother other has not only drunk the cool aid, he has gone back for seconds and is mixing another gallon.
If the Goph’s beat them this year to make it three in a row it may be one of the greatest days of my life LOL.
We will miss Bo in the B1G:

Bo Pelini not happy during husker games. … I like the Huskers, and Bo is probably a good coach …
I always liked this Bo Pelini video. It’s of him showing the team their new uniform, by dressing up in the uniform with his face covered so they don’t know it’s him. In all of his enthusiasm and high fiving of guys in the the front row, he stomps on the bare foot of one of the players with his cleats. (watch around the 0:16 mark when he’s off to the right side

I have seen that before. Very funny.
Nebraska’s coaching hire was the equivalent of dating the hyper religious, plain Jane, girl next door after having issues with a hot blooded sex pot. They will regret dumping the sex pot.
OT: So sad. We need to do more to prevent the extiction of such beautiful and magnificent creatures. Last male northern white rhino on Earth.
