  1. Ducks beat USC 76-66, they are the outright conference regular season champs. Simple here. Beavs win, they’re the 6 seed. Lose, they’re 8th. Either Arizona St or Stanford In the conf tourney opening round

Utah is the 2 seed. If Cal wins they’re 3rd, Arizona 4th. If Cal loses and the Buffs win at Utah, Buffs are the 4 seed, Arizona 3rd and Cal 5th. If Cal and Buffs both lose, Arizona is 3rd, Cal 4th, Buffs 5th

  2. Super early, but Schaftenaar actually playing like someone who wants to make the Tourney for the first time in his college career.

  3. Damn, I hate the three or four minute stretches where they can’t make a shot. Could be up 14 points by now, UCLA is playing poorly.

  4. Lots of threes going up early, something I don’t generally like to see, but they’ve made a few at least.

ST jr. doesn’t like to give the ball up on a fast break. Will go 1 on 3 every time, it seems.

  5. Beavers made threes and then have missed a few wide open threes. No Tres to get to the foul line and nobody else on the team gets their much. UCLA will take a decent lead soon enough.

    • Just ponderous, unwatchable for the last eight minutes. UCLA wanted to be down by 20 and just go home and the Beavs couldn’t take it.

  6. Beavers are getting a lot of good looks, STJ is just missing everything in the paint. Beavers should be up 6+ minimum. This is always the time when the game gets away from them on the road. Can’t remember the last road game where they closed a first half well

      • At least he’s taking it to the rim and trying to get to the foul line. Starks was the king of the fade away 18 footer off the dribble that barely gets a piece of the rim

    • There’s no good reason to be criticizing STj. He’s arguably the teams 2nd best player and has had a solid season. Guys are going to miss shots and have off days. Olaf made up for his misses. The bigger problem is team rebounding and boxing out, among other things. If the Beavs could rebound at all the offense would look better.

      • I’d have a bigger issue if STJ was taking bad shots all the time but most of his shots are in the paint and he’s learning game by game on how to finish amongst the big guys. I thought he’d be a better three point shooter this season but that will come in time. Biggest thing he does is he doesn’t take a lot of contested long jumpers. He’s trying to get to the rim and get to the foul line. Don’t have a problem with that

      • The ONLY problem I have with STjr is that he does not make great decisions on fast breaks. Watch closely…he takes on taller guys when the trailer is wide open for an easy shot.

          • With a team that is marginally talented like the Beavs, two or three made layups can make or break a game. All I’m saying is the “draw and dish” could be another piece to his game as he develops.

          • Selfish? Someone has to make plays. Would you rather STj shoot or Reid, Eubanks, Olaf, et al. Team does not have scorers– I view him as aggressive, which is good.

      • No doubt he’s been one of the team’s best players this season. My criticism was for the first half. He was a bit erratic and missed shots in drives to the basket where he probably should have passed it out. Generally when he’s a little erratic in driving to the basket he makes the tough shots.

  7. GP2 and Olaf have played well. N’Diaye had a good spurt. Bruce has gotten into the lane at will and made some good passes. Everyone else has been awful. Duvivier has missed a couple wide open threes and when he isn’t making shots he isn’t doing anything out there. Eubanks has made countless mistakes and STJ has missed everything inside. The last 6 or 7 minutes of the half the only players who didn’t look intimidated were Bruce and GP2.

    • Nice to see Bruce making good passes. That was some impressive vision. He hasn’t been impressive at all this year, but those passes were light at the end of the tunnel.

  8. Great find ,nice spot up…….. could be the perfect way to end the first half of the most important game of the last 26 years and Duvivier clanks it off of the rim. Nothing to say, but luck o’ the beavs.

  9. Beavers showing some composure on the road after UCLA had a strong end to the first half. Been waiting to see this for a while. Ball movement much better, they’re attacking more and the defense has been tremendous in the early going of the second half. More of this please

    • Him, GP2 and Olaf have combined for 20 of their 22 points in the half. Without Tres, STJ and GP2 have to carry the team and they are right now. Pretty impressive display

    • Over the course of the season, I always thought that he gets a lot of ticky tack fouls called on him, doesn’t get the respect he deserves.

  10. Hahahaha Eubanks. That’s what I’m talking about. Dude has no clue how to dunk. I realize he does it here and there, but I see that way too much.

  11. Cheikh N’Diaye is really good defensively. Him stuffing Welsh’s shot was really impressive. He alters so many shots at the rim.

  12. Nothing is ever easy for the Beavs. Alford bringing the ball up the court and there wasn’t a guard within 15 feet of him.

  13. LMW in perfect position to defend Holiday and then falls for a weak fake pass and gives him a wide open three. Blowing this would be mind-boggling but things are looking a little shaky

  14. wow! Beavs D finishes it off in butt pucker time. Without Little Tinks too. Way to go guys! Beavs are the 6 seed and will face Arizona St

          • If they beat ASU they are definitely in, but these announcers made this win seem like a guarantee. I just don’t see it that way. I’d put it at 55/45 that they’re in right now…

        • It’s all about perspective. I was watching the alabama georgia game earlier and their announcers were complaining about Oregon State not having a winning conference record vs a georgia team that does.

Wouldn’t take PAC12 announcers word since they are homers for the conference.

          • Georgia with an RPI of 71 and Alabama at 75. Yeah. What cupcakes did they feast on in non conference play? SEC alright. Suck Every Cock

Edit: AND furtherfuckingmore the SEC’s BEST team got rolled at Pauley in December

          • Tinkle said in pre-game that he was “told if they win today they are in” not sure who told him that or how accurate it is, but that was the mentality going into the game.

    • It’s looking a lot better. But there will be a lot of noise if the Beavs don’t make it in now that they are .500 in what’s considered the best conference.

    • Maybe depending upon the other bubble teams. ASU is in the mid 80s for RPI so it wouldn’t be a bad loss. A win and I don’t see how they’re out.

    • Yeah, my fear would be a 2nd loss to ASU if they do play them in the 1st round. That won’t play well. I have a hard time believing they are already in like the announcers were spazzing out about.

    • I think this win, no matter what happens, gets us on the bubble. But so much can happen, we need one win in the conference tourney to get in for sure.

      • I kind of wish WT had pulled the trigger and demoted Duvivier also. It seems like Bruce is the kind of player who needs to play a lot to get in the flow. I wouldn’t be surprised if he starts at PG next year with STjr at SG and Duvivier comes off the bench.

    • he missed too many FT’s. He wasn’t the only one. Had they made them it wouldn’t have been that close. Turnovers too

  15. If a highlight reel play from a player named Gary Payton ends Oregon State’s 26 year drought, it would be very fitting.

  16. Who all is going to the airport to meet and cheer on the team? Historic win that likely punches our ticket to the Dance. Best to win another but this was the key game. Play a team very close we are likely still in. Win at least 1 and Team will be atleast a 7 seed.

          • Wow, didn’t realize it was that cheap. Staying at the Mirage for the first week of the tourney. Always fun to watch games and gamble with fans from across the country

          • I have gone every year its in vegas. Usually use air miles, find a hotel thats less than $180 total for 2 nights and spit it with a friend. Up until this year on december 12th they always had $12 tickets to each session. This year they didn’t. Tix we about $40/session, we only bought day one, was gonna wait to see the times the bears would play day 2 because the sports books are fun during conference tourney time.

I highly recommend the trip. usually so few Beav fans are there. Last year we were asked to sit in the student section because there were no students. Talked to the Beavs ticket office and they said they are sold out… So hopefully a bigger show this year. My group went from two people to 5 this year as well.

The trip can be done for well under $400 for room, tix and food and drink if you go Wed-Fri. Friday night hotels are stupid expensive. Have stayed at Ballys, and hooters up tim this year as they were cheap. This year Planet Hollywood was the cheapest option near MGM.

  17. I was glad to hear that AC was at the game. He went missing after CR was fired so hopefully this is an indication that he’s gotten over it.

  18. I watched that last play again, I’m glad the UCLA player didn’t shot the open three for some reason. Was it Holiday or Hamilton? He had a good look. No guts, no glory as the cliche goes

    • Holiday. He was worried that GP2 was gonna block it cause Gary was closing quickly. Still should have launched. Once he started dribbling I knew he was gonna turn it over with GP2 chasing him

      • When he passed up the three and started dribbling it was probably down to 5 or 6 seconds also so time was slipping away. Holiday made a nice decision to run to the corner, I can’t believe he didn’t launch when he got the ball back. Oh well, luck o’ the beavs in a good way.

  19. Man oh man. We tried to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory, but thank goodness we survived that barrage of late threes. UCLA pushed us hard but we got a road win in front of 7,940 (which would seem like a nice turnout at Gill, but Pauley looked dead). And the first time we’ve been 9-9 in conference since 1993? My goodness.

They still need to win their first game in Vegas and put up a good fight in their second game. Right now, it’s looking like we get the 6th seed since we have a better record against the dux than USC and beat Washington heads up. So it looks like we get ASU no matter what happens to them against Cal today. So 6-11 goes to play #3, which could be Utah, Arizona, or Cal. Not sure how that one turns out. Neutral court win against any of 3 and we’re in for sure. Lose and we literally are bubble-fied.

That was an exciting win. I wish I could fully see what GP2 said after his walk off dunk. https://twitter.com/Pac12Networks/status/706295745402572800

  20. Of all the games to accidentally miss, can’t believe it was this one. Closed my eyes for a 15 minute nap before the game, and ended up opening them back up well after the game was over.

That being said, if me missing the game is what it took to win, I’m completely okay with that.

Why were people attacking STJ though? Dude’s one of our best players, and while he’s off some nights, his aggressiveness is vital, especially in getting to the line.

    • Could be you, could be me. I was sitting in the truck listening before getting a massage. Beavs up 12-6 last I heard. Checked my phone when it was over they were up 53-40 and I listened on the way home on the radio. As soon as I turn the TV on when I got home UCLA starts it’s comeback

      • Or could have been me. Saw the game was to be at 3:30 and knew I worked until 5 but forgot to DVR. Worked a little late and when I got back home and turned it on it had just ended a minute earlier for the 86-82 win.

        • unfortunately no. I’d also like to be able to return to this particular establishment and not spend an evening at the Benton County gray bar hotel

          • Nope. Thankfully that got voted down in November. No way a county of 40K residents needs a 110 bed jail. Fortunately everyone outside of Corvallis realized this. The city folk were ok with it since it wasn’t going to be in their town if it passed.

  21. Cal beats ASU 68-65. Cal is the 3rd seed, Arizona 4th

    2. Utah
    3. Cal
    4. Arizona

  22. Cal/UCLA women’s game headed for OT. Looks like the start of BWB game will be pushed back to close to 9pm

Edit: UCLA wins 73-67 in OT

  23. Baseballers beat USD 5-2 to sweep the 3 games this weekend. A BWB win tonight would put the cap on a great day to be a Beav

    • Another failure of the Pac 12 network. Starting a conference tournament game at midnight on the East Coast? Way to get some exposure.

  25. Did this win clinch the Beavers’ place in the field? That’s debatable. My guess is that the No. 6 seed Beavers cannot lose to the No. 11 seed Arizona State in the Pac-12 Tournament first round and expect to get a bid. However, this game against UCLA on the road would certainly seem to be a big step toward that dream of the university making the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1990.

On the plus side, the Beavers have three top-20 RPI wins and six total top-50 wins. Plus, they have no disaster, sub-top-100 losses. However, they do have a losing record against the top-100 at 10-11, and their 4-8 road record isn’t great. I’d predict that if the Beavers pick up a win against Arizona State, they do get in. If not, it’s going to be a long Selection Sunday in Corvallis.

      • Yes Gulich shot the only 2 Beav FTs. That stat looks egregious, but the Beavs played on the perimeter for pretty much the entire game, even Wiesner wasn’t driving like she has been this season. When the ball did go inside, the UW defenders just threw up their hands and Hamblin just missed short shot after short shot.

  26. BWB go the final 6 minutes without a FG. UW misses a runner in the lane as time expires. BWB hang on to win 57-55 and will face UCLA in the conference tournament championship Sunday evening. Much like the men’s hoops team, the ladies team “also likes to live dangerously”.

Hey Scotty, good thing no one took you up on your wager huh?

Perfect day. Much to the delight of many, I’ll probably be dead before dawn now as this has to be a first

    • Talk about limping into the finals…. Let’s be honest, does anyone have confidence this team is gonna make a great NCAA run? Sheesh!

But scotty’s good on his word. Tell me where to send the AB money, angry, and you better not spend it on soapystuff ;)

      • UCLA needed a rally and OT against Cal. This was basically a home game for UW.

And even though I didn’t take the wager and I’m in a good mood, I’ll be a good sport and match your donations

    • That wasn’t a layup. A runner from about 5-6 feet I think, but yeah lucky she whiffed that badly. I think she was surprised she was that open

  27. Devon Hunter has been worthless the last 4-5 games. Can’t hit the broadside of the barn and a bunch of stupid turnovers. Lucky to win that game. Hanson MVP tonight. She is really a great defender…….and looks good doing it. Go BWB’s.

    • I’ve been a fan of Gabby all along, hard to believe she was only “honorable mention” for the PAC12 all defensive team. Agree, she “looks good doing it”.

OTOH, can’t get down on Hunter, she has been one of the scrappiest players on the team, had only one game where she was dialed in from three but she is ALWAYS a force to disrupt the opposition. IMHO.

    • I’ll disagree. She pouts a lot but is generally one of our better post defenders and has added that three ball as a legitimate threat. Went cold a bit but we don’t rely on her for offense, we rely on her to deliver high-low passes to Ruth and use her 5 fouls. Plus, she’s the continuity and athleticism we need at that spot for both ends and has been starting for like 3 years straight through. Rueck wouldn’t put her in if he didn’t trust her, and our offense and defense is so IQ heavy that she obviously has the IQ to play what she plays.

  28. Post game thoughts –

    1. We saw a bit of growth from the young guys. A glimpse of what they could be next year.
    2. Bruce stepped up, showed very good vision to find shooters. A real PG who can break the press. Shooting is still a work in progress.
    3. Hopefully Thompson can keep up the effort. Also he’s not a bad defender so LMW must just be better at D since STJ was held out on defense at the end.
    4. I’ve noticed Olaf is a better catch and shoot guy than trying to dribble and then shoot. Doubt his luck will continue but with Tinkle out, the team will just have to hope his hot streak keeps up.

Overall it was nice to see them hold on. It should prepare them well for ASU. Hopefully they’ll be a little more consistent and limit the scoring droughts. ASU is only going 7 deep so getting them into foul trouble early will be key.

    • ASU is much like the Beavs last season. And tonight reminded me. They lost by 3 at home to Cal. Beavs lost a heartbreaker at home to Oregon by 3 in the final regular season game last year. ASU has only 8 scholarship players so they are not deep. No guarantee of a win but the Beavs should run, run and run some more Wednesday night. Playing defense and rebounding also helps. Also not a strength at times

  29. Last thought for the night. First .500 finish in conference play since the 1992-93 season with Jimmy Anderson. Despite the criticism at times I for one am damn glad we finally got a coach that has gotten the Beavs this far in just 2 seasons. No matter what happens, bigger things are on the horizon! On to Vegas! Go Beavs and BWBWB!

      • Beavers with Beavers with Brains

I didn’t come up with it but I think it fits. Gals with engineering or other scientific majors

And for the record, gals with a brain that know how to use it? Hot as shit. Bonus points for brunettes and redheads. Regardless of age if above criteria is met.

Sadly I am a dirty 40 year old old man

          • trust me when I say this about redheads, but I AM aware. Batshit fucking crazy but holy fucking shit are they good in the sack.

Never been with a blonde that was smart or good. Brunettes are the marrying kind. Good looking with a brain to boot

Just my experience and worthless two pesos

        • I’m good for it. Is there a particular program you donated to?

          nevermind I see it now

          Edit:

I donated $50. Wouldn’t even buy the ladies dinner at McDonalds. I fucked up and didn’t get a screen shot. As soon as it it goes thru my card I’ll link a screenshot to photobucket. Didn’t you say you’d donate to angry’s site as well?????

          • Yep, but I don’t know where to send the AB money yet. Since you’re donating more to OSU, maybe I’ll up my donation for the men later :)

          • No worries. I did donate. Call me out if I don’t post the pic no matter the thread. I work in Salem now and get busy during the week. I mean it. CALL ME OUT

          • Scotty wrote me today to ask about donating, fwiw. He’s a nice, single, Asian who keeps his words once chided (a pro Scotty plug for the lady beavs who read AB). Maybe I should make a dating portion of the site…Scotty, place an tagline on your dating site: “Mammoth looking for a nice Beaver.”

  30. Angry I will always donate to this site. Beavers with the freedom of the 1st amendment? Fucking Rules. Thanks Angry. Keep up the good fight

    • Thanks.
I haven’t asked for donations in a while because we have the server cost covered for a few years, but donations are always good because this is a lot of work. I don’t feel I’ve been producing great material lately, so I haven’t asked for donations. If anyone wants to send a donation email me, and I will tell you how to paypal one.

  31. In today’s games, here’s the teams to cheer against. You want all the teams projected in the 8-10 seeds to lose to help the beavs get solidly in. The Beavs are most likely playing in the first four games. Need teams ahead of them to lose so they can get into the first round.

    1. Cincinnati
    2. Uconn

Also no upsets in the mid major conference tourneys. Need gonzaga to lose in their tourney because it will make the WCC a two team league. Need St Mary’s to win it.

  32. Appreciate the info Bill. I think we’re screwed with UCONN playing a crap UCF team but you never know. SMU is a tough matchup for Cincinnati so hopefully they come through. Iona is also playing today and a win there helps the RPI.

      • same here. I might DVR a replay of the game this week if it’s on and slow it down and watch that play 1/15 speed just to see if there was contact or my initial thoughts that Alford is majoring in being a pussy with a minor in shitty acting

        • That was my initial thought, that he was faking because the incident happened when UCLA was getting their run going and I thought he was trying to gain even more momentum for the final minutes. But I figured he would have returned to the game if he was just feigning injury.

  33. 4 teams have already punched their ticket to the tournament. Austin Peay(OVC), Yale(IVY), Northern Iowa(MVC), and UNC Ashville(Big South). One more ticket will be punched today.

  34. Beaver’s women’s hoops is absolutely killing UCLA right now. They want this tourney title bad for some reason. Firing on all cylinders at both ends. UCLA chucking up horrible shots and we’re getting clean looks, they are demoralized. We’re damn near playing a home game with the way the crowd sounds.

I can only imagine how Gill is gonna sound come tourney time.

    • If you saw the articles they said maybe last year they coasted into the tournament and just expected to show up and win. This year is all business and they want to make up for last years failure. Looks like with an exclamation point too

  35. Environmental Bulletin: Bruins added to the Endangered Species List after vicious attacks by invading beaver populations.

  36. 30 point Beav lead against the #10 NCAA selection committee team. This is getting ugly, but just what we want heading into tourney time.

    • The gals need to ratchet down in the 4th and prevent a run. UCLA’s in a mighty big hole though.

Poor Gabby Hansen–can you possibly get any icier shooting the ball than she has over the last month?

  37. Bruins with a late run but nothing to worry about. Weisner was clearly fouled on the double team that lead to a turnover which in turn lead to her frustration. Beavs still have this clearly in hand.

  38. Hey, gopher, I like ’em both, but check the line on Hanson vs Hunter tonight.
Everyone on this team contributes eventhough Sam Signer has been down lately.

  39. Can’t believe they pulled it off after that Stanford debacle, but way to go beavs :D

Now the real tournament begins! Hope they don’t do that let-down thing they did at Stanford after beating UCLA on Senior Day. Gotta get those emotions energized again.

  40. Hamblin, Weisner and Wiese combined for 62 of their 69 points.

Jamie Weisner Pac-12 POY and conference tourney MVP

Pac-12 regular season and conference tournament champions. Great job ladies!

  41. Rueck, as usual, gives props to OSU fans in his post game with Ron C. Mentions those who watch on TV, perhaps with radio sound.

  42. I was thinking it’d be awesome to be able to date Ruth Hamblin, but then I realized my balls get blocked enough already…

  43. Now that the conference tournaments are set there is a lot that can happen to help the Beavs improve their seeding or help the Beavs stay in if they lose to ASU. Here’s some scenarios that could happen.

    1. Beavs win one – 99% in. likely in the first four. Could jump up with some help.
    2. Beavs win two – auto in. off the first four.
    3. Beavs three or four – auto in.
    4. Beavs lose. Maybe in if other bubble teams lose early.

The Beavs are in right now. If the lose to ASU, not all is lost but they’ll need some help. For the Beavs to jump out of the first 4, they’ll need help and likely win 2.

To make things simple, let’s assume the Beavs are the last team in the field. Lowest seed they could get is likely an 8 or 9 seed. Highest is 12. Teams ahead of the Beavs need to lose early in their tourneys to improve seeding.

    1. Cincinnati and Uconn play each other in the first round.
    2. Pitt and Syracuse play each other in the first round.
    3. Butler
    4. St. Bonaventure
    5. South Carolina
    6. VCU

Don’t want any cinderella teams in conference tourneys since it will hurt the Beavs chances by taking an at large bid away.

Teams behind the Beavs needing to lose.
    1. Tulsa
    2. Gonzaga
    3. Florida
    4. Michigan
    5. Georgia
    6. LSU
    7. George Washington
    8. Ohio St

Teams needing to win their conference tourneys to prevent taking an at large bid away.
    1. St Marys. They have a shot at an at large bid if they don’t win their tourney.
    2. Valpo. Have a very good shot at an at large if they don’t win their tourney.

    Other potential at large bids:
    1. Wichita St. Looks like they are in but with a first round loss in their conference tourney, it could doom them.

Beavs get lucky with a couple teams playing each other with loser sweating it out. Butler gets a tough first round vs Providence. The teams behind the Beavs will all likely need to make it to the semis of their conference tourneys to even have a shot.

I’m sure I missed a few teams that could help/hurt the Beavs chances.

But if the Beavs take care of business on Wed, they’ll be in for sure. Otherwise they’ll be sweating it out on Sunday and hoping for a trip to Dayton.

    • “The Beavs are in right now. If the lose to ASU, not all is lost but they’ll need some help. For the Beavs to jump out of the first 4, they’ll need help and likely win 2.”

NOT even close. They beat ASU in they’re in for sure, won’t be in one of the play in games and in the 7-9 seed range. Austin Peay and Florida Gulf Coast are 2 of the 8 teams that will be in the four play in games.

Georgia? Seriously???? With an RPI in the 70’s they aren’t getting in without winning the SEC tournament. Same goes for LSU. I do agree with you about St Mary’s and Valpo having a shot at an at large. Gonzaga’s only shot is to win the WCC tourney. They have zero wins against the RPI top 50 teams. They aren’t getting an at large. St Mary’s is an interesting case. 0-1 vs Top 50 RPI teams (Cal beat them in December), 6-1 vs 51-100 RPI teams. 18 of their 25 wins are against teams with an RPI in the 200+ range. If they lose in their conference tournament it might drop their RPI enough to exclude them. They also have two very bad losses.

Wichita St isn’t getting in with that resume. They’re NIT bound

      • You can’t count any team out at this point. I did point out that teams like Georgia and LSU will need very deep runs into their conference tourneys just to have a shot if the Beavs were to lose.

Most brackets have Wichita St in, but if they were to be excluded, it helps the Beavs out a lot.

Of the first four, I only care about the 4 teams playing for the 11 and 12 seeds. Don’t care about the other four since they won’t be at large bids.

The reason I say 99% in if they beat ASU is for cinderella teams. No bubble team could pass the Beavs if they beat ASU. But any team that is outside the bubble in a power conference and wins the auto bid, it could knock OSU out. It would likely take multiple cinderellas but it could happen.

There’s a lot of east coast bias out there and the other metrics like Sagarin, Pomeroy and ESPN’s BPI all rank OSU in the high 50s or low 60s. So it would give the committee a lot of cover if they were to exclude OSU (assuming a loss to ASU).

      • I’d like to think so too but the selection committee has some east coast bias.

If the beavs lose and all the teams behind them make deep runs into their tourneys, Beavs might not get in.

If the status quo holds, they are in.

  44. Admittedly, my college basketball knowledge is pretty lacking. How do people have such sound conviction about which teams will get the “first four” play-in games? I understand that they are essentially the last four in but why does the bracket place them in other seeds than 16 seeds every time? I don’t understand how two teams can battle for the 11 seed and essentially be the worst teams in the tourney.

  45. I would prefer to be a 12 seed over being an 8 or 9 seed any day. If you’re an undervalued 12 seed, and pull off the upset of a #5 seed, second round is versus a #4. You win the 8/9 game, you get congratulated with a matchup against the #1, and there ends your tourney run.

From 6-12, the best slot is #12…results in the lowest seed second round game and best shot at a Sweet 16 berth.

  46. Crossing my fingers for a Monmouth win. If they lose today they will get a automatic bid most likely with wins against usc, Ucla, Norte dame, and Georgetown.

    • My bad, thought Valparaisos resume was better than it is. Green Bay is also 140 RPI which hurts. Don’t see them taking a spot away from the Beavs.

        • And Joe Lunardi now has Oregon state as the first team out, Monmouth as the last team in. You have to be shitting me.

          • Lunardi is on crack and is the only one out of all the men’s hoops pundits that has not given OSU any credit whatsoever this season. I wouldn’t worry about OSU getting pushed out in favor of Monmouth or Valparaiso. Beat ASU and they’ll be in for sure. No matter what that pillow biter thinks

Edit: To show how delusional and biased Lunardi is………….USC is one of the last 4 in with a bye yet their overall resume is just a tick worse than OSU’s. Same number of losses (11), they’re 16 spots lower in the RPI, OSU has a better overall SOS, non conference SOS and played 3 fewer games against teams 100+ in RPI. They finished tied in the conference standings. Huh? Sorry Joe, Oregon State has the better resume as of tonight. Yet USC is safely in with a bye and Oregon St is in a play in game?

This schmuck pays zero attention to west coast hoops. Oregon’s resume is deserving of a number 1 seed, Utah a 2 seed. No team has a better record against top 50 RPI opponents than Oregon. Only Oregon and Kansas have more victories over Top 50 RPI teams than Utah. Kansas and Villanova are deserving of a number 1 seed. The other two are absolutely not deserving (Virginia and UNC). Just goes to show he pays no attention and pulls seeding numbers for west coast teams out of his ass.

    • uck fans are almost as pissed as Zona fans were last year when GP2 got it over Rondae Hollis Jefferson because Boucher didn’t get it. Tough titty as far as I’m concerned.

      • Boucher?

Are they drinking that purple stuff from under the sink again?

The kid’s a one-trick pony on D. If it weren’t for his offensive capabilities, he would be on the bench most nights.

    • Can’t see it being a big draw as it’s the last game of the night. The Beavs ticket office probably has the best seats. If you want to save a few bucks, you could try hitting up people leaving the 6pm game for their tix if they allow reentry. Maybe the MGM ticket office has an allotment as well.

      • well shows you what I know! lol shit I’d try the loser of the 6pm game fans leaving MGm. Desperate yes but hey, they’re tix.

        • that is what I was thinking. There are some on Stub Hub and Craigslist but they are on the ends. I would think somebody from Arizona or Stanford wouldn’t want to go to evening game.

          • Glad I got tix to the first day when singles went on sale. The 2nd day was already sold out.

Also talked to the Beavs ticket office a few weeks ago and they claim they are sold out.

  47. anyone heard or read an update on Tres? Haven’t found anything other than he was supposed to see team dr today

    • I posted what the dude from “Building the Dam” said further up this thread yesterday. He said that Tres “broke something in his foot”. Not sure if he’s credible?

    • Saw a video of Wayne yesterday, and he said there is no update, but that “it doesn’t look good”.

So I think its safe to assume he’s done for the year, if he isn’t that’s a bonus.

      • Tres’ sister already posted on her IG that his season is over. Wayne just isn’t officially making it publicly known to the media yet

  48. Not that anybody gives a shit, but Idaho and New Mexico State were kicked out of the Sun Belt Conference last week. Speculation is Idaho will possibly down grade to FCS which is the first time that has ever happened. Doesn’t take place til 2018.

    • Geographically Idaho never fit in. NMSU sort of. Idaho should drop down to FCS. They suck at everything. Mountain West conference makes more sense for NMSU but I doubt that conference wants to water itself down anymore than they already are

      • The speculation says Big Sky should be the landing point for Idaho. That would fit well, they were get raped by shitty teams in the Sun Belt.

        • They’re already Big Sky in every other sport. So it just makes sense. But the competition would get much tougher in football compared to Sun Belt teams. So that argument is out.

  49. OT – The OregonLive is reporting that 2017 is, by the state of Oregon standards, a bumper crop of DI football prospects, estimating that 10-12 in-state players could receive Pac-12 offers.

I just read the intro, and didn’t review the whole article because its a damn slide show.

If this cohort is legitimate DI talent, it will be interesting to see if Andersen et al are more successful in-state this time. I suspect with the relationships they are building with in-state schools, and improved play this year, they will be.

      • Yup. Not the least painful is the annoying quality that clicking for the next (or previous) slide changes the page-state of the browser so that the back-arrow on your browser goes back to the previous slide you viewed and not the previous page you were on. Clicking through a 20 slide presentation effectively kills your browser history making it unusable.

        • Furthermore, you have to be careful which arrow you choose or you end up with things like “10 stars you never knew were gay.” There is usually a selection that says “play slideshow” which leads you to believe it’s going to play like your photo software – it doesn’t.

      • When I see one, it’s the back arrow immediately. I’ve stopped going to some sites purely because of those stupid slide shows

  50. No need to fret about Monmouth or Valparaiso. They’re toast. Lunardi, like the rest of ESPN, is just throwing shit out theis it ok if I come in at 3 today instead of 2?re to get clicks. Bracket projections now are just as worthless as before. This upcoming week is what shapes the tourney. If the Beavs beat ASU, they’re probably golden. If they lose, they’re gonna need a lot of help. In my opinion, ASU blows and if the Beavs lose to them twice then they don’t deserve a tourney bid

  52. Kind of an update on Tres………………….Still nothing definitive

The 6-foot-8 forward, who earned Pac-12 All-Freshman honorable mention Monday, had X-Rays taken on his right foot when the team returned to Corvallis from its road trip in Los Angeles last week. He suffered the injury during a rebounding drill in practice on March 1.

The area examined was the fifth metatarsal, which is where Tinkle suffered a stress fracture over the summer. The team has not provided an update on the results of Tinkle’s test.

In a radio interview on 750 The Game with John Canzano of The Oregonian/OregonLive, Wayne Tinkle said that the team had not closed the door on his return but that it was “not looking good.”

    http://www.oregonlive.com/beavers/index.ssf/2016/03/oregon_state_forward_tres_tink_1.html

    • 5th metatarsal can be bad… Think Dez Bryant, Durant, etc. I would say he is out. The coach speak is probably to make sure the committee thinks he has a chance.

      • also the same area he had the stress fracture last fall. I don’t claim to be a doctor, have any inside information or knowledge either. There’s also those HIPPA laws so until someone from OSU gets the ok to release information it’s all speculation right now. But the fact he’s been in a walking boot with crutches I don’t expect to see Tres back until next season. Or since it happened it’s being done as precautionary? We won’t know for sure until then. It is interesting that WT says it doesn’t look good but the OSU press release for the ASU game in Vegas said he was questionable until he was ruled out today.

  53. Gonzaga winning likely knocks out Monmouth. St Mary’s has a better case for an at large than Monmouth. This does hurt the beavs by taking away an at large bid. A win still gets them in but probably not out of the first four.

    • Gonzaga would be in a play in game before the Beavs would. That was their first win over a team in the Top 50 RPI this year. Only took them three tries to finally beat the Gaels

      • The play in games are for the 4 lowest seeded automatic qualifiers and the four lowest seeded at-large bids. Gonzaga won’t be close to being a 16 seed so they’ll avoid the play-in round. At this point a Beav win gets them into the first round, and a loss puts them into a play-in game.

    • I scanned through his list of articles, and find it really annoying that he hasn’t done a story on the Oregon State University women’s basketball team. Their first Pac tourney title, their national ranking, the individual accomplishments of the team members and their accolades, the integrity of the program, Rueck reviving it from the dead….

And I know women’s sports don’t get the same level of readership or viewing, but what the program has done is worthy of more press. Hopefully they get deep into the tournament and get recognized by other sources while Canzano is peeing himself and writing articles about how Chip Kelly “needs” to get Vernon Adams in a SF uniform or some other such nonsense.

      • From Mizell:
“…With Oregon State staging an impressive run to capture its first Pac-12 Tournament title in school history…

Ruth Hamblin obviously put together arguably the best performance of her career, totaling a game-high 23 points, setting a career best and tying a school record with 20 rebounds and compiling five blocks to become the Pac-12’s all-time leader in that category….she’s averaging 15.2 points and 13.7 rebounds over her last six games…

Jamie Weisner has had quite the week, following up her Pac-12 Player of the Year award with earning the conference tournament’s Most Outstanding Player….

Wiese outscored UCLA by herself in the first half (18-17)….

  54. Someone asked Lunardi about the Beavs………………….

    the guy

@ESPNLunardi what does oregon state beed to do to assure their spot?

Might already be assured, but one more win should seal it.

But I thought the Beavs were one of the first four out? I agree with the above poster. clickbait

  55. There’s also this tidbit of info. Which does not bode well for teams such as Monmouth (16) and St Mary’s (18)

    Slow Poke
    ?@MostlyGray

@jppalmCBS any way the SMC gets an at-large with 18 games played against teams with an RPI over 200 and 0 top 50 wins.

Not likely. Not 100% sure this means anything, but the most 200+ RPI wins for an at-large since 94 is 14 (UAB 2006)

  56. In today’s games, here’s who you want to lose

    1. Syracuse. They would drop further than Pitt if they lost. They’ve lost 4 of last 5 and would have lost 5 of 6 to end the season.
    2. Texas Tech. In the tourney but want to lose for seeding purposes.
    3. UCLA, UW, – Don’t need anymore bid stealers.

There doesn’t seem to be anymore mid major bid stealers out there.

      • It’s that our auto bid is still up for grabs. We want nobody with a lower seed than us without an assured spot (USC being the outlier) to win that bid. The tendency then would be to punish the conference by taking away one of their assured bids instead of taking it away from a mid-major at-large.

If anybody who isn’t already pretty much in wins it, then the committee goes back to mitigating circumstances (instead of numbers) for choosing who they would leave out. Winning tonight would alleviate that scenario for us.

If anyone who is already in wins that bid, then it’s a matter of different seedings being applied to wherever teams end up. I would say we end up in a play-in game if we lose tonight in that scenario. We keep a solid 9-11 seed if we win, and we can get lower if we make the semis or finals.
