Anytime there’s a big milestone like this I’ll use it as a chance to thank you guys, and, like the Obama administration, keep my books transparent. Being proactive, honest, and transparent gives the detractors a lot less ammo to use against.
Thanks to all who follow the blog and mostly those who contribute their good thoughts and responses. Without the latter, this blog would be a man blathering to himself and thus a less interesting place to gather. I’m sure some will argue that is what it is anyway.
This blog started as an experiment to see if there existed a need for an alternative viewpoint in the media, or if all the forums from which I was ostracized were right in that my viewpoint was that of a lone wolf. I think the number of hits and the intelligent and mostly respectful discussion here suggest that the fan base desires more criticism from the mainstream media. It also suggests a latent rage that exists in every beavlet, whether directed at the team’s performance or [shots at] the messenger.
My critics will scoff at the notion, but within the past year I’ve noticed more objectivity and criticism from Beaverblitz, my biggest rival (how’s that for a play on words). They hired a new guy, Travis Rice, who is trying to dissect the practices and tell you when a guy is performing poorly, but a fan still has to read between the lines to get to it. For example, instead of, “this lineman is so bad he couldn’t block his ex-girlfriend on Facebook” (sorry Wilder McAndrews), you’ll get “McAndrews needs to improve if he wants to ward off the youngsters”)…things like that.
So yeah, since we’re being transparent, it’s quite clear that Mamma Machado had a talk with her writers and asked them to be more critical and objective. Hey, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Or something. Thanks, Angie (I mean Keith Pankey’s mom). *Cough*

And as wordpress notes, “we don’t count your own visits to your blog.” I read that they don’t count any user who is logged in, either. Sorry, detractors.
So in short, it’s been a good first nine months. The numbers show a steady growth in the blog’s fan base and following. The upcoming football season presents, on paper, much opportunity for criticism, from the starting QB job to the scheduling and beyond, so I don’t see anything but good times ahead. I’m going to continue doing this as long as I feel the passion; my only request of readers is to spread the word so that in the future we have even more lively and interesting debate.
Cheers,
Angry

Sometimes life is like the sixth grade.
The hits don’t count you or I. Only the contributors to a site are not counted. I played with the counter once to see if the stats moved. ;)
Unfortunately, I accidentally deleted the blog last fall and lost some of the stats. The numbers would be higher had that not happened. I wrote you an email detailing this since you can see the numbers.
Thank you for the blogging, Angry. I like your insights, usually, and I enjoy the fact that there’s a place where I don’t have to wear orange colored glasses to be accept for my opinions about our teams.
However, if there was one complaint I have, is that I’d like to see somebody write about any tiny bit of minutia about Beaver news with an angry slant.
Maybe I could write for ya? since I’m often bored and full of shitty opinions about shit.
At any rate, congratulations dude.
“However, if there was one complaint I have, is that I’d like to see somebody write about any tiny bit of minutia about Beaver news with an angry slant.”
lol.
Give me an example.
Like Al Reser passes away and a writer would be all, “the nerve of that bastard we have things to build!”
?
Hahaha, I’m just making an unrealistic request. I just check the site every day and always hope for a new article- and I know that’s because things are slow. I’m just always interested to see what the like-minded folks have to say.
And yes, I’d think that article about Reser would have been acceptable, seeing as he’s the only really big donations guy we had. RIP Al, you were a great man and Beav
Well, send me a draft of something you’d write and maybe I can make you a contributor.

Will do man.
Congrats. I really enjoy this site for the open minded approach that one can be both a fan and critical…
wooooo *pops champagne*
congrats angry
Congrates Angry,
I like the blog. Don’t agree on all points, but that’s what it’s about.
Yeah buddy, we totally rule!
Doesn’t matter that nobody takes us seriously, but I love it that you created this site where I can be a reactionary bitch and back up every crazy thing you say.
Don’t worry that it’s really just you, me, WhoreGirl and a couple other short bus retards that take you seriously.
This place Roxx with a big R and two x’s and I am about to uncork a bottle of the finest $5 champagne I could find/afford at my Eugene Rite Aid to celebrate this utterly meaningless occasion!
Except for the weird ‘Roxx’ reference, all this is spelled correctly. It can’t possibly be JP the child molester. I don’t believe that anyone from Blitz could write this. It’s almost intelligible.
Angry, are you just playing with the readers? If so, what does Roxx mean?
It’s “BeaverFan”…looking through his past comments, he can’t decide if he’s in or out. Sometimes he likes us, but other times he snaps. That type of bipolar reaction, coupled with his 4 usernames, suggest someone who is on medication and forgot to take it. Either way, thanks for another blog hit, BeaverFan. ;)
Hey BeaverFan, what does Roxx mean?
Come on Jack, you don’t get “Roxx”? Not even with a big R and two X’s?!?!?!
Really?
No grasp of phonetics at all? No sense of irony? No sense of it being douchey mockery intended to match the douchey chest-thumping Angry was doing by mentioning his page hits? No sense of how folks view you as just Angry’s lap-dog?
This blog is what it is, and in a perfect world I think you and and Angry would get it and would realize that perhaps you’re acting way more self important that you are.
Yes, blogs are becoming more of a force… but those blogs that are becoming important create unique content. They don’t just report what they read in the GT, Oregonian, and Blitz. They actually see things first-hand.
This blog does have unique content–a cynical and critical view of Oregon State athletics. I don’t see this content printed anywhere else. That is the definition of unique. Unless you can show me this content printed somewhere else.
As far as your chest-thumping comment: all that does is confirm that you view this blog as a threat, so you’re trying to knock anything you (or others) view as a positive. Most people get over this emotion at age 8 when they get beat up as the local bully. This is a you problem.
I get the phonetic sense, but the ‘big R’ and ‘two X’s’ is extraneous and makes the joke boring. It’s like I’m watching SNL, and the joke is being read in a deadpan face off of cue cards. Then the joke has to be explained because what was possibly slightly funny to start with is now just putting the audience to sleep.
So the irony would be that what is supposed to be sarcasm related to your perception of this blog turns out to be exactly what you think is wrong with this blog.
The deeper irony is that this blog is just a small voice on a big web, and you find it unimportant enough to put your half cent in.
A triple whammy comes when we consider that we live in a free country which celebrates freedom, and you would ask that someone forgo that freedom because your half cent doesn’t compete in the world of free ideas.
I think the perfect example is Shaydon Akuna. Whenever it’s mentioned that a kid with measurables like this…
… 6’3″, 230#, 4.54 40, 4.1 SH, 36″ V and strong as the day is long…
… might start for the Beavs next year, there’s a stale push-back. People repeat the ‘experience’ mantra they think they understand from other sites.
How many of those sites mention that Akuna is better than the #1 prospect out of Hawai’i from the previous year? That #1 prospect was Manti Te’o.
But people are so wrapped up in a stale and narrow narrative that their thought becomes stale and narrow. Once that happens, anything outside their comfort zone has to be met with resistance. But since the ideas are so stale it just sounds like uninformed mimicry.
The only importance I place on this blog is that I take responsibility for my own words… nothing more. Unlike you, I speak my own thoughts. If you find anything I say that simply repeats information from other sites, then I’ve linked to it. You’ll notice that I’ve never linked to Blitz. That’s because I’ve been on the site once in the last year. When I saw that Sean Mannion’s visit was the headline for the hoops recruiting page I knew I had been missing out on one WiNNer of a site.
That’s WiNNer with a big W and two N’s.
See how I did that? THAT was funny.
Seriously, the worst thing you can do is take the time to say something is worthless. If it’s worthless clearly you wouldn’t feel the need to comment as it would fail on its own volition. It is equally clear this person wants the site to fail and be worthless, hence is biased, etc and when an opinion isn’t objective it’s, ironically, worthless.
Everyone knows this so why am I saying it? I guess I view it as a threat. “Lolz”
If BeaverFag hates this blog so much he should quit giving the blog traffic. hit us where it hurts, mang. :p
Congrats Angry!
