The big news tonight is that Adam Duke is slated to get some innings. James Nygren (7-2, 3.61) is expected to start, with Duke in the offing.
Mid-week games versus non-conference make me nervous…there's very little to gain other than a couple bucks at the box office. I guess you can make a case that young, rarely used players get valuable game experience. That doesn't happen until the game's out of hand, though.
The Beavs haven't exactly been good in this slot, either, going 3-2 on Tuesdays in 2011.
So, in short, the story tonight is Adam Duke's debut and avoiding an RPI-crushing loss.
I think you mean 3-2 in midweek games with both losses on Tuesday. Excited to see Adam Duke pitch. He was supposed to be the teams #3 starter if he wasn’t hurt. Casey says he’s the best of the freshman guys, so let’s see how he does.
I like the Beavers tonight 7-3.
Excuse me it is 3-2 on Tuesdays. 4-2 in midweek games overall. I forgot about the first game against Oregon.
Andrew Susac returns to the lineup and Keyes goes to 2B just as I thought he would.
Mike Parker in some trouble here. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=-MUYjvCpWcQ
Talk about embarrassing. I would think they will suspend him for this weekend’s games.
Trouble for what? It just looks like another drunk-thirty at Denny’s with a Nikegon alum trying to be a Beav with baby steps (eating processed wood pulp instead of ing with the real thing).
Interesting to see how Nygren does. He has handled Portland with ease the first two times so thee shouldn’t be any issues.
No problems so far. Curious to see how Susac looks in his first AB.
Runners on first and second with no outs, thanks to a mistake by the Pilots. 2nd and third now with 1 out.
1-0 Beavers on sac fly by Keyes. Susac up now.
Susac grounds out. Not too bad of a swing.
Nygren is being hit hard yet again. 1st and third and no outs for Portland.
Carter Bell with a brain cramp and a run scores. 1 out and a runner on second. Tied at 1.
Wow. Beavers get out of it tied but are just mistakes all over the place.
RBI double by Parker Berberet and it’s 2-1 Beavers
RBI double by Ryan Dunn and it’s 3-1 Beavers
Ryan Dunn gets doubled off second on a weak ball to shallow right field. Too many metal errors still.
Didn’t look like the Portland runner on the back end of that double play was out…Beavs catch a break i think.
Beavers lead 3-1 after 4 1/2 innings.
Ryan Dunn hits a solo home run and it’s 4-1 Beavers.
Jared Norris walks after Stamps was hit and the Beavers have runners on first and second and two outs for Kavin Keyes
5-1 Beavers now on an RBI single by Kavin Keyes
Two run bloop single by Andrew Susac. 7-1 Beavers
Come on, Casey, put Duke in there already.
I want to see what the guy can do.
Boyd in for Nygren. Seems like a strange time for Boyd. I thought Adam Duke was supposed to relieve him?
Susac almost went yahd. Good to see.
That was a good swing indeed. He didn’t get all of it but he was right on that ball. His timing is getting better. That’s very nice to see.
Duke warming up.
Hopefully he pitches the ninth. Really curious to see how he does.
Off Topic Breaking OSU News:
DeCarolis signs 5 year extension.

Michael Miller hits a home run. 8-1 Beavers. Wow.
Bob D extends 5 years @500k a year.
Runners on first and second and no outs with Ryan Dunn up and looking to hit for the cycle.
Ryan Dunn hits for the cycle and it’s 10-1 Beavers.
RBI double by Brian Stamps makes it 11-1 and two run home run by Norris makes it 13-1 Beavers.
Adam Duke has entered the game.
Duke has a live arm.
I like his countenance…the way he stares batters down reminds me of Drysdale (footage of course).
Duke gives up a two run home run. That ball really carried out of the yard. Not a great debut but he’s a little excited, he’ll be much more calm the next time out.
You can tell he had the jitters and overthrew some of those pitches.
I thought his “stuff” looked great…
Beavers win 13-3. A nice comfortable win. It was much needed.
Listening to Mike Parker on 860am right now.
Looks like Parker was still hungry. He should have ordered the Super Slam or something. There are a lot worse things one could do drunk then sit alone in a Denny’s eating a napkin.
