  1. The feed camera angles are DUMB, way too tight on plays, bouncing around a bit too much as well. I can’t farking see how far a throw is or run if they are so tight.

  2. Okay, so that was the jitters and nervous energy. If they’re playing like that the next (offensive) series I’ll start to worry.

Oh, and Katz looks exactly the same as last season (if not worse) thus far. Pretty disheartening start, but the nerves should be out of their system now.

  3. Can’t someone off the ball in the secondary yell “ball in the air” or is it too noisy to hear it. I am just getting tired of this same shit from the secondary year after year.

  4. Every team makes vertical passing look easy. For the Beavs it’s like pulling teeth. All they can do is horizontal crap in the flat. I assume this is a byproduct of the o-line and langsdork, but I really am not sure. Can’t figure it out. I see WRs running downfield, but the ball never goes there.

  5. It kind of fits the coach’s mindset…”we’ll see how we do…I have no idea how we will play…” No expectations leads to this kind of shit.

    • Moreover, when Riley was just asked about the pass interference calls – I think he said just a minute ago, “that’s just part of football” or words to that effect. BTW – can OS forfeit against Wisconsin? Is there a mercy rule?

    • I would say Wash St. was pretty bad last year, but if you are talking FCS teams. They lost to Montana and Idaho in the early 90’s I believe.

  6. Castro doesn’t really look for the ball. He just puts his head down and pushes forward lol.

I am seeing a lot of little things like that that really add up. Oh, and the big fact that Vince Young would school our QB on the wonderlic.

    • Def Langsdorf, and possibly Banker just based on his over reliance on 4-3 base stuff. In todays game, we should be in NIckle 75% of the time versus these spread teams, and then a lot of Dime as well.

I would LOVE the beavs to go the 3-3-5, don’t need great D line for it, relies more on speed, blitzing, stunts/shifting etc. Look at Sac State, 4-2-5 is same deal, like TCU runs.

  7. Riley needs to go to Mannion in the second half. No way he does worse than what Katz has looked like. Katz looks like he’s making his first career start.

  8. Anyone see the Utah St/Auburn game? I feel bad for Coach Anderson, so close. He was a damn good d-coordinator for the Utah Utes. How does a true freshmen QB perform that well in that situation and then we have what we just saw from Katz? It’s coaching, right?

    • It isn’t even employed in Small Fry Football. And it’s never employed successfully. It’s (in this case,OSU) the old doing something over and over again expecting different results.

  9. Passing: F-
Katz couldn’t complete anything, and threw a pick during our best drive.
    Rushing: C+
Agnew had some good runs up the middle, but only one outside run, and it didn’t gain much.
    Receiving: C-
One drop, and too much dancing.
    Run Blocking: B
Runs up the middle have had gaps, but the outside was sealed.
    Pass Blocking: D-
Not the worst, but a lot of pressures. But some of those sacks are Katz holding the ball too long.
    Defensive Line: C+
Some good pressure early, but in the 2nd quarter there has been no pressure at all. Scheme or players, who knows (probably scheme).
    Linebackers: C+
Solid open-field tackles, not a lot else.
    Secondary: F-
2 huge PIs that lead to the first touchdown of the game, and two bonehead defenses that lead to big plays. Finally, a ton of short throws that were just uncontested, such as the slant for Sac’s second TD.
    Special Teams: C
Good coverage, one mediocre kick, one FG, no returns. Meh, considering how much potential our special teams have.

Overall, a really bad game so far, and a lot of it is scheme. We don’t apply enough pressure defensively(Blitz more!) and our corners aren’t allowed to look back(as always, why is that our strategy?). On offense, NOTHING deep ever, terribly missed short passes, and the ones that are complete are either way too high, or Wheaton dances too much. The run has been solid, but it had better be. But solid isn’t good enough right now.

If we don’t get a passing game going, and if our secondary/pass rush doesn’t step up, this will be a 27 point loss, not win.

  10. Considering not even watching next Saturday’s game. I have no hope they can even keep it competitive. I was feeling good about the Beavers playing Wisconsin tight but after seeing this, no chance.

  11. I am thinking if the Beavers don’t score on their first possession of the 2nd half this is going to be a loss. They suck up too much time on offense with dink and dunk and they give up too much time on defense by letting the opponent convert on third down. The days of a big play offense seem long gone.

  12. Have we had a single play action or screen yet? I know we got the ball to Jenkins in the flats a couple times for good gainers, but I haven’t seen us try to punish them for stacking the box or overloading our strong side.

  13. Half of my season prediction has already come true! I thought our WR’s were our strength! Can we not throw the ball downfield? WTF
