  1. First down, and…run up the middle that Agnew tried to turn out and lost a few.

Shocking. We should keep track of 1st down runs up the middle. That’s 2 that I’ve seen.

  2. TCU huge touchdown and 2 pt conversion 1 minute left to to go up by 1. @ Boise St. Let’s see if Moore can get Boise in field goal range.

  3. Another missed tackle by our DLine, and Cal is just running all over us.

Really, if I were any of our opponents, I would just run the ball 65 times. What are we going to do about it?

  4. Easy TD for call. We had nobody lined up against their slot receiver, he runs a post, and gets the simple TD.

Banker is a piece of crap. They run it all over us AND then have open receivers? It’s like he LITERALLY calls the wrong play every time.

  5. Jenkins trying to chip block their big DE. Wow.

    Fucking Langsdorf, nice play.

I said this last game, and I;’ll say it again: WHY PUT A RB IN THE BACKFIELD AT ALL IF THEY CAN’T BLOCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • 80% of the time he’s a beast, 20% of the time he kills us.

Cal running it right down our throats. But hey, I bet our “safeties are cheating up” so we have the run covered!!!

  6. Banker is a great defensive coach.

Cal gets 6 yards per run, easy.

Do these announcers have any grasp of reality, or do they willingly ignore their contradictions?

  7. Collins, you are a huge piece of crap.

Drive killing and drive extending penalties at all times. I’m about to turn this crap off.

It’s one thing to lose a game. It’s another to play like a thug.

  8. Didn’t Banker say, it’s not like they (Stanford) physically dominated us, they were only getting 5 yards a run. We held them to third down attempts (3rd and 2 about 10 times). Obviously, the guy is an arrogant moron.

  9. Banker is so thoroughly outclassed in a 2011 Pac 12, he has no fucking clue what to do.

Cal runs Wing-T, spread option, classic option, and 5 receiver sets. Banker’s response? BASE FOUR-THREE!!!!!!!!!!!!

  10. It’s sad to see the beav’s game thread just filled with negative comments. I can’t say it’s unwarranted, but, it’s pretty bad if we, as fans are able to point out the oh so obvious issues.

  11. I know that with all the brilliant adjustments that Langsdorf and Banker are going to initiate at the half this game will end up 31-3 Cal. I’m done.

  12. If there are still any people out there who think Riley has anything left I feel sorry for you. The guy is a washed up loser. I could see him easily going on 1 10 game losing streak. His winning percentage moving forward will not be above .300 if we are stupid enough to retain him. It is De Carolis’ fault but we have to get rid of Riley ASAP if we ever want to be a winning program again. He plain sucks!

  13. Do us all a favor and retire Mr. Riley. You don’t deserve to be the coach any longer. You have shown your peak is the Sun Bowl and now even that is a far dream in the next half decade. What are you still doing this for? Go back to the CFL. I seriously doubt they would have you.

  14. The announcers on ROOT are calling us the Oregon State “Diaper Dandies”. Talk about taking on the persona of the head coach. This Riley nightmare can’t end soon enough. We must move on.

    • Add insult to injury, he had the touchdown 2 plays before that but the refs call the play dead before he’s finished falling forward, canceling forward progress

  15. I was just thinking that as long as this thread has been dead (no messages posted) it’s looking like OSU foot ball is in deep shit. 20 minutes between posts.

  16. Screw you Riley!!! You can’t do anything right! Quit putting us through your incompetence.
You are running this program into the ground and are an embarassment to yourself and the university.

  17. It really just feels like the 80’s watching us play. I can almost sense the failure before it even happens.
    Flags
    Fumbles
    Stuffed runs
3rd and 10, but only throw the ball 2 yards
DB’s beat ALL over the field.

Tell me how we are ANY better (right now, forget the future for a second) than any Avezzano or Kragthorpe team?

  18. Cal has over 300 yards rushing. Imagine what Oregon’s run game is going to do. Yikes. This is pathetic. Thankfully there is only 2 games left this season.

    • I’ve been saying Ducks in the Natty for over a month…if Ok St loses Ducks are in.

Stanford, as I thought, is a fraud. Look at their schedule…they’re played nobody.

  19. I’ve seen this comment a lot: “Riley didn’t commit 3 turnovers in scoring position tonight”

True, but when has a well-coached team ever committed three turnovers in the redzone? It never happens. That’s all about focus and mentally preparing the guys for that part of the field.

    • In contrast look at what the ducks have done. At the beginning of the season their O-line looked inept and their D looked like they could be scored on at will. They’re now creating holes and the D is flying all over the place making plays. Come CW, without a Beaver running game it’s going to be really ugly. All Beaver fans like to recall Joey 5-pick but I’m afraid duck fans will be recalling Mannion pick-6 by the time this year is done.

  20. Interesting stat being discussed on twitter and in the press after today’s loss to Cal. Over the last three games, Oregon State has been outgained on the ground 821 yards to 92 yards. Which leads to some obvious questions to ask of Banker and Langsdorf and Riley:

Banker: 821 yards on the ground against your defense over the past three games? What changes are you going to make to stop opponents from running all over your defense?

Question for Langsdorf: 92 yards rushing for your ground attack over the past three games? What changes are you going to make to establish a running game?

Questions for Riley: At what point is Banker going to be held accountable for opponents running all over his defense? At what point is Langsdorf going to be held accountable for OSU’s inability to gain yards on the ground?

  21. With Wazzu beating ASU, Riley may be the new #1 on the coaches hot seat list. He deserves to be. He is a piece of shit total garbage coach. Nothing about the guy inspires. He needs to hang it up. OSU will have all the same issues as long as he is here. His loser personality has infected the players and the program. He and his lackeys ARE the problem! BDC needs to cut his losses and clean house. OSU desperately needs new energy and new leadership. It needs to be done this offseason.

Riley isn’t valuing these opportunities to win anywhere near enough. All we get is excuses. It is his mistake that he thinks it is acceptable to lose this frequently. It isn’t and it should cost him. Let Riley be a loser anywhere else but with our team. We can do far better and get a coach capable of leading a team that wants to do its best for him. There are many possibilities. Burton would be 100 times better than Riley just from a savvy and leadership profile. I like Leach and others more but Burton is a decent idea just in case. Like Canzano said, he thinks Riley is set to be run out of town in the next couple years if he doesn’t start winning quick and Burton is becoming a respectable option and will likely become more so should BDC be unable to get any other exciting candidate.

    My hope after next year:
Riley fails as usual and is bought out as best we can. BDC also retires because the black eye also had his name on it and for putting OSU in a stupid financial situation. Pat Casey becomes AD and is ready for a smart hire for head football coach. We get someone capable and effective or if necessary get Burton at a fair rate and amazingly Casey structures a normal 5 year contract with no extensions without 8 wins or more. We go from bad stewardship to good stewardship and find health in our Athletic Department.

  22. Riley, Banker and Langsdorf couldn’t coach an IM team. Like it or not, Oregon brand football is the present and future. OS football is a dinosaur, and The coaches don’t have the skills to improve/update it. Sad.

  23. There is such a bizarre psychology on this team. No one accepts PERSONAL responsibility for anything, it starts with the coaches, but it has trickled down to the players. I know James Rodgers is a great person, great story, but as I leader on the team, I have to pick on him. Look at this quote.

“We just need to make the plays when we are down there,” Rodgers said of the red zone problems. “That’s all there is to it.”

“We”? Sure in a general sense…..but James, you let a pass bounce off of your chest which led to a momentum killing interception. Shouldn’t the quote be “I need to make plays as leader of the team”? I don’t know, are all these players “soccer trophy” kids with a head coach who encourages that mentality.

The Riley quote….”this doesn’t look like good football to me” just drives me crazy. What kind of a statement is that from a coach of a 2-8 team? It didn’t look like good football to most 5 year olds, coach. Once again, a comment that does not hold anyone directly accountable. No, accountability, no consequences equals no fear of performing poorly.

    • “Once again, a comment that does not hold anyone directly accountable. No, accountability, no consequences equals no fear of performing poorly.”

      Bingo.

In formulating questions for Buker to ask the OSU coaches, accountability is the key. Are you (Riley) satisfied with the results over the past couple of years? If not, is there accountability in the OSU football program? Is Banker responsible and accountable for the defense? Langsdorf for the offense? What will it take before either of these guys will be held accountable for the bad results of their units?

    • Wait, did you expect a team leader to individually call out another player? Because if he did, he would not be a leader anymore.

As for the play you mentioned, James had a DB hanging all over him, and I’m pretty sure he hit the ball as James went to catch it. Pretty hard to blame anyone for that freak play.

The coaches need to accept responsibility, absolutely true. But blaming James for a freak play is pretty ridiculous and not useful at all.

Stevenson, on the other hand…running without the ball is Peewee football, not D1 college.

      • James should either blame himself or nobody. This “we” crap does not cut it. I was reading about the Air Force/Wyoming game. Air Force lost and the back up QB said “I take full blame for the loss”. Could you imagine a Beaver coach or player saying that? And this guy was the back up shoved into a situation at a moments notice.

        • James as a leader could have said “I need to focus more and make those plays, it was a catchable ball, my team needs me to come up big”. Instead, he like his head coach goes into another vague statement assigning no individual accountability or responsibility.

Look, don’t get me wrong…I am not down on James, he is an awesome player, but even a gamer like him get’s worn down by the psychology of the team, and that is MR’s responsibility.

  24. Hi BN… It’s me again the once pending future coach.

In SF for the game. We left early in the third quarter when it was obvious that we wouldn’t be able to field goal kick our way to a win. The futile resignation in our visitor section was palpable. We hit a sports bar on the way up to the hotel and watched the uck/cardinal blowout. Tell me that wasn’t hard to take in beaver gear.

The town and hotel is crawling with Ducks! So far they have been cool, no cheap shots or taunts. We will be stashing our gear today, as we prefer to be more obscure. Football fans… no… we’re going to the museum of fine art and a lecture on neo- impressionism.

Will be sitting out next weeks game, anyone want two tickets? I really don’t think the Huskies are all that good but it doesn’t really matter as this 2011 squad and staff is DONE!. I’m glad we don’t have Civil War tickets. OH Well…. there’s always next year. JB

PS: JackBeav.. on to bball…maybe a chance for some redemption from loser status?

    • Bonehead,

You tell me who the hell your defensive coordinator is going to be and I will be ready to listen. Anything has got to be better than what is happening now!

  25. This could be the worst year in history to be an OSU Beaver fan, if you include the season(s) OSU is having, with the addition of the season the *ucks are having. They could be in the BCS National Title game back to back, with a possible rematch with LSU. (How many ranked teams did they beat this year, or last season?) Apparently it doesn’t matter, the entire nation is enamored with the *ucks, and everything about their program. I guess ethics, morals, values, and doing the right thing doesn’t matter anymore. Win at all costs, as long as you win, is all that matters. This is so wrong. It makes me sick! I know that I’m not the only person who feels this way.

  26. This team sucks! I can’t bare to watch the horrible offense and defense inifiencys. Watching the ducks with my duck buddies was horrible. Bring heckled and watching a team that takes chances and plays a level above anyone else. Unless a miracle occurs, we are going to get spanked by 50 by the quacks.

    • I would argue that the *ucks could play their entire 2nd string at every position and still beat OSU by at least 5-6 touchdowns! Both programs are going in polar oppostite directions, and I believe the discussions stating that this would come, started in this blog 2-3 years ago. This is the most difficult time in OSU history to be a Beaver fan, because of this combination. Every car in this state has a green or yellow “Toilet Seat” logo on their back window. It is “trendy” to wear *uck gear, and if you’re not wearing any, people think there is something wrong with you. Or, that you are not a true Oregonian. People that don’t even know how to spell the word football, are now the biggest *uck fans, and the ultimate football experts, unbelievable.

      • Our defensive tackles and our middle LBers are not Pac12 caliber players, and we have no depth at either position. That is why we’ve been out gained in the running game by 800 yards in the last 3 games. I don’t think you can scheme against the run when the talent discrepancy is that large. Next year doesn’t look good either. Oh and Reuben Robinson is horrible. I can honestly say I’ve never seen RR make a play at the point of attack and drive a player backward.

Remember 2 or 3 years ago when Molesi et al., failed to qualify? I think there were 3 legit D-tackle recruits that didn’t make it from thst class. That failure has manifested itself in the Beavs d-line performance this year.

        • You are absolutely right about the cupboards being bare at LB and DT. This is solely on the coaches for not recruiting well. We don’t need 5 stars but there sure as hell are many more players more talented than these guys. Frahm wasn’t even close to the most talented DL in our conference in HS, let alone pac-12 caliber athlete. Frahm would have made a decent PSU player as a senior… Seumalo, I can’t even begin to explain why they would move that guy inside (other than nepotism).

And spot on about RR. That guy was consistently biting on the counter/misdirection last night and running into the wrong hole. Once he goes to flow, he gets caught in a block and is worthless. I noticed that Unga was playing late last night, why the hell wasn’t he playing earlier? Unga with broken legs would have been about as good as a healthy RR.

  27. Man, that was a huge second half COMEBACK!!!

    ….no, wait … I fell asleep and had a dream…..dang.

As to this being the worst year to be a Beaver fan, when the Civil War comes, it well might be. UO could probably play with one hand tied behind their backs and still win.

I cant imagine how Riley and company sleeps well at night.

  28. Not interested in OSU women’s bb? Stop reading.

They look pretty good against Montana State at half-time. The confidence shines through. I assume y’all know the relevance of Edwards in the name ShaKiana Edwards- Teasley.

    • Angry was astute with his “where in the world is BDC” topic. I don’t follow other college programs that closely, so I don’t really know how vocal AD’s get with losing programs.
When I lived in SLC, I know Chris Hill at Utah made it known what direction he was heading when Ron McBride was in his final losing season, he also voiced his frustration over post-Majerus basketball and delivered none too subtle hints when he felt time was running out for the coaches who followed Majerus. I guess different styles, but I prefer Hill’s aggressiveness to BDC’s disappearing act.

  29. had the misfortune of attending the game and it was an 80’s retro beavs experience. i watch the 2001 fiesta bowl when the mood strikes (often) to reminisce as to just how good we were – that 2000 team defense was crazy quick and they really hit – and the fire and emotion was off the charts – something i haven’t seen since erickson left. why can’t riley recruit half as good as erickson? or get the troops to play with half the fire of erickson’s?
