Are you guys judging this off of your own tape evaluations? I haven’t watched myself, just curious why you feel Brice is so much better? Scout has Noland being the a 3 start and Brice only a 2 star.
That sucks. Hopefully Riley made some other recruiting progress over the weekend and made use of OSU’s nice win with Payton in attendance. One thing BDC and Riley need to quickly put the word out on is that Truax will be available to fans on gamedays next year. That should be in BDC’s next Orange Perspective or one very soon if he truly is interested in building the program into a sustainable winner in the Pac-12. With other schools continuing to make aggressive improvements we must step up our own efforts to maximize the potential and success of Oregon State.

It is? i thought it just is what it is. Can you counter it with something other than your projections? I can, but now I’m interested to see what someone who thinks s/he’s “optimistic” can do. In my experience, self-described optimists are just naive pessimists.

Murphy and TZ are the future at S, and i hold out hope that Ashton makes himself known there. Watkins was a disappointment last year, but we all know he has the tools to play well. Maybe KH wasn’t as good a coach for the safeties? But be honest, there aren’t many who are playmakers there besides those named.
I hear Robinson is actually really good at S, and I think Noland grows into the Doggett/Laybourn type OLB/S those guys were.
If two of the three CB commits stay, I really like our CB depth. Again, there are a lot of ships for players who have abandoned other positions that probably won’t see the field as CB’s.
I would really like OSU to start playing special teams as a third unit. I think the wasted ships on players who will not play offense or defense should be used to let Read make a unit of his own. Brandon Hardin would have been one who Read could have made a star had he not been a sieve at CB. Imagine a whole unit comprised of players like Billy Bates coming down the field at you.

I think the tone of this thread could be a little more considerate of Brice’s fickle nature. Its not like he has consistent in his decisions. Its a brief opening to the thread, and probably more about OSU’s bad luck than blaming staff for losing one though.
If Noland could be a Doggett, I’d be estatic. I think that’s exactly the kind of LB’s the beavs need against the spread…Doggett a td in each of his last two CW’s…good speed and great attitude.
If Robinson can be good at safety, OSU should be all right in the secondary, again, if Shelton sticks around. I like Hasty as an addition there.
Remembering the pleasant coup of Chris Brown, this classes glaring deficit remains at DT. Comments elsewhere suggests the class lacks speed, and I supposed that’s true. While I think Brown could have the best top end speed of any RB since Steven Jackson, I suppose the other players are not James Rodgers/Wheaton type of speed players, but there’s still some good looking receiving targets and a long overdue haul at the offensive line.
I remain high on David Vieru. And I love Josh Mitchell as the future. I just want to double that number to have two DT prospects in every class. We get ourselves stuck with no depth at some positions because of the “load up every three years’ theory of recruiting.
Btw… silver may be able to speak more to this, but I’ve heard that not only did Vieru do well on the DT side of the practice squad last year. But I’ve heard Jacob Welch tore it up on the o-line. I love maulers if they take their given talents and make themselves better. These are the kind of walk-ons who I welcome in the trenches. Nothing against the last batch, but it’s a lot easier to teach someone technique when they have the size and skills already. It’s really hard for anyone to teach 80 pounds plus technique.

Hasty’s a CB. Noland’s a FS. And I think Noland can put 25-30 pounds on him and be a hybrid OLB.
Too bad. This was looking like a really good class for both OL and CB. This makes it even more important that we keep Shelton.

notice that there are only 4 positions to play them all.
And there are like 10 decent players competing for 2 safety spots and 3 decent players competing for 2 CB spots(assuming we keep Shelton)
