2-0 Beavers after an inning of play. Should have gotten more but with 1 out Keyes was too anxious at the plate and popped up. Rodriguez then lined out. Beavers caught a lot of breaks in the first. Time to build on the lead.
Before the last 2 starts he was solid. The last 2 starts he has been bad, without question. Just having issues putting away hitters. Unfortunately the Beavers need him to get things figured out, they really have another option for their 4th starter with Duke rehabbing.
Not having Adam Duke healthy at all this year has killed the Beavs. Ideally, he would have been the #1 or #2 guy, and we would have 4 very good starters….it would allow Starr to be a set-up righty (a la Boyd).
I agree there. Beavers would be loaded in the rotation. Duke is likely to redshirt, I cannot wait to see a healthy Duke. He was not kicked off the team as people rumored. Just at home.
The starting combo of Wetzler-Fry-Child-Duke would rival any starting 4 in the country. It would be deadly in a Regional and/or CWS scenario where you need 4 or 5 legit starters. The problem we’ve had lately is that the starters put us in a good position to win into the 8th inning, and the bullpen has just been atrocious.
Point taken….I became enamored with him during the Vandy series last year, so a small sample size. During that series, he was about the only guy on our team who could physically match-up with the mashers that Vandy had. Reminded me of Dallas Buck with a cooler head and an extra 2-3 mph on his fastball.
3 run triple by Kavin Keyes! Beautiful swing and Keyes nearly put that in the seats for a grand slam. So good to see him hitting the ball so well. 7-4 Beavers
Beavers win 12-4 as Dylan Davis finishes things off in the 9th. Great night for the bullpen. Nearly identical to last Tuesday’s performance. 5 2/3 innings for the ‘Pen, gave up 1 hit and it was an infield single off Schultz’s glove, really good to see. I’d like to see Dylan get some work in this weekend against the Cougars, he’s been throwing well his last outings. Hopefully Schultz can take tonight’s performance and carry it over to the weekend, Beavers need a reliever to throw like that in conference play.
Cole Brocker didn’t pitch lol. But I hope Yeskie gives Dylan an opportunity against WSU. He’s not as wild as he was earlier in the season and the Beavers could use a power pitcher in the ‘Pen. More Schultz and Davis is something I wanna see, less Brocker.
Beautiful thing about Davis coming on now is that there isn’t a book on what kinda of stuff hes got. Could be nice nice secret weapon for post season run.
OSU is doing very poorly as far as needing subsidies. Great report from ESPN and another below that at Beaver Byte that shows just how far behind OSU is in conference in this and other respects. BDC isn’t getting the job done and losing so much in football is a major issue that will likely start to affect attendance & revenues in our most critical sport.
Yup, something I have mentioned for the last couple of years. People are going to pull their donations for a poor product on the field and that probably is the worst thing that can happen to the program, as it will fall further and further behind the big boys making harder and harder to compete. I think we need to increase the donation and increase football sales. The protest vote is out and maybe that will change the program and then we will see influx of donations after the change?
I agree totally. I have been stating the same thing for over 3 years. Donation from all facets will be shrinking because nobody wants to put their hard earned money onto a “sinking ship”. Bottom line is you win and you rake in the money. You lose, you lose. Changes have to be made on the highest level for anything to change. There just isn’t enough protesting being done to worry the powers at large.
Lead-off single in the b1 by Max Gordon. No score so far in the game
Smith grounds out and Conforto is hit by a pitch. Runners on first and second and 1 out for Danny Hayes

2-0 Beavers after an inning of play. Should have gotten more but with 1 out Keyes was too anxious at the plate and popped up. Rodriguez then lined out. Beavers caught a lot of breaks in the first. Time to build on the lead.
2-1 Beavers
Pilots lead 3-2 in the top of the 2nd. Starr is simply not finishing hitters off. He keeps getting 2 strikes on hitters but is not finishing them off.
im pretty much over starr at this point. i’m hoping he doesn’t make too many more meaningful pitches the rest of the year.
4-2 Pilots. Taylor Starr with another crappy start.
That’s because he stinks.
Before the last 2 starts he was solid. The last 2 starts he has been bad, without question. Just having issues putting away hitters. Unfortunately the Beavers need him to get things figured out, they really have another option for their 4th starter with Duke rehabbing.
4-2 Pilots after 1 1/2 innings

Duke pitched something like 5 innings in his entire career and had an ERA around 5. He looked raw. So…let’s not go crazy about him.

Schultz comes in, 4 up and 4 down. Beavers lead 7-4 going to the bottom of the 5th
Another 1-2-3 inning by Scott Schultz. Doing a really good job in relief tonight.
Tyler Smith is really slumping right now
Lead-off double by Michael Conforto, left fielder misplayed it.
if kayes gets a fifth RBI im gonna go buy a lottery ticket
RBI single by Keyes makes it 8-4. Hayes at third and Keyes at second and Dylan Davis is up with 2 outs
Two RBI triple by Dylan Davis and it’s 10-4 Beavers
Danny Hayes with an RBI single, scores Tyler Smith. 11-4 Beavers. Conforto at third and Hayes at first with 1 out, Ryan Dunn is up
Sac fly by Ryan Dunn. 12-4 Beavers
12-4 Beavers heading to the 9th

apparently a scout clocked davis at 100 in the ninth, and he struck a guy out on a slider. things may be looking up in the bullpen.

Woo hoo! Weekend!
