The site is actually getting more traffic year over year than any time, but the flow of inside information is dreadful.
In the past, I'd get daily tips via email that I could then pass on, but these connections have almost completely dried up/disappeared. So, my request: if you post on other forums, o-live, twitter, Facebook, etc, post this site's link. Tell a friend about the site. Get out there and hit the trail, Rod Perrys. We need a 5-star source.
Also, there are guys who read this site who have inside info, so I encourage them to step up and share it. This goes for Duck fans, too–my sources on that scandal are either dead or ignoring me (rude!).
Maybe blend in something other that 100% negativity and somebody might continue to give you some inside info?

I would have liked to hear the process and content of Riley’s off-season football program evaluation that was supposed to occur. Riley claimed they were going to look at “everything” and make changes to stay competitive. What did they find, how will their efforts be expressed in actual program changes? None of that has come out.
We did hear that Riley is going to bring back the bootleg. Wow. Bold change.
The football program isn’t generating any news because there’s no change or progress. I fear the topics on this site will not change until Riley goes.
You know I do see the return of the bootleg as a positive step. That tells me that Riley is looking at the offense and perhaps planning on playing to the strengths and minimizing the weaknesses.
The problem with the pro set is it’s designed to be run by pro caliber athletes. If half of your offense doesn’t belong on a D1 field (like last year) it’s gonna be a long season. This year looks to be better across the board,and a coach can make it work by recognizing the strengths/weaknesses and scheming around them (boise state,anyone?)
Let’s hope that’s actually what’s happening.

They were in shock when Trevor Romanie’s split the uprights at the end of regulation to win the game. I was even a little shocked when he made a clutch kick as well.

Well believe it or not Scott had a sack and a forced fumble. Michael Doctor was all over the field couple sacks and an interception. I can usually make a defense look really good, the problem is I look like a first year starter in Riley offense even though I have been playing this game since Joey was on the cover.

I don’t think that you are being ignored by your sources. I think there is very little out there right now outside of some recruiting news. I have one good Duck source and he says that there is nothing being communicated by the NCAA to Oregon and it has been quiet for many weeks. Given the thousands of emails and phone logs that they confiscated, it looks like it is going to take a long time to hear anything. Remember the urnalists conduct 30 minute interviews and only feed us sound bites that support their angle of the story that they are writing. The NCAA gets, or has to, look at the entire context of what was said by whom and when it was said.

The NCAA has dealt with these types of characters in the past, but who knows how long it will take to finish the investigation. I am guessing Oregon gets put on probation for 2015 to 2020 at this rate.

Yeah, I am excited for the Hoops team. I think losing JC might make this a much more well rounded team, and a more inside out offense. It might not have the fast breaking ability, but it could be better in its teamwork. Of course, I could be just hopeful.
Contribution to an inside/under reported story, and on the theory that anything that puts the UO program/sports culture in a bad light is “good” for OSU, and not having seen anything about it elsewhere: went to the the Beach Boys reunion concert in Eugene last Saturday, and there was a very interesting moment when Mike Love, uncle of Kevin Love, started lecturing the crowd about good sportsmanship, or the lack of same, as evidenced by what happened to his relative on his first visit to Eugene after committing to UCLA. In fact, MIke Love was wearing a Timber Wolves jersey with “Love” on the name plate in back. Anyway, Love brought this up as a narrative prelude to their famous anthem, “Be True to Your School.” Well, it got ugly fast. People shaking their fists at the stage, pointing fingers, yelling at the stage, booing, and some yobs started a “Let’s go ducks chant.” Someone in the band had the great idea of starting the song to defuse the situation. The moral of this story is that Duck nation can’t stand criticism, even of one of the most egregious incidents of unsportmanslike conduct by their fans in the history of collegiate athletics.
Heh heh…. It’s like Duck fan has no idea that actions have consequences. Except for T&F fans in this town, they are the most stupid, constantly victimized fandom I’ve ever witnessed. Their teams walk on water, and everything bad that ever happens to them is unfair.

Remember his patella popped out late last year. They’ll probably have to create a custom brace to keep it in place. He’s at a good school for an innovation like that to happen. We’ll see.
OT… but about knees… Eldridge Massington blew an ACL in a camp. Now we get to see what kind of coach and person Fink really is. Will he let Massington sign?
I guess the bigger question is… would any of us honor the offer knowing that this kid will take years to just get back to where he is now?

That might not be a joke. All I can say is that Coach Perry will earn his pay if he reels in the DB’s who are talking about OSU (and Solomon). I think we’re going to see a different breed of DB’s playing on the field this coming year.

If Doug Brenner has a question about the recruiting process, all he has to do is find a family member.
The 6-foot-3, 280-pound Portland (Ore.) Jesuit defensive lineman can ask his sisters Mary Claire – who just finished her college career as a softball player at Oregon State – and Elizabeth – who played volleyball, women’s basketball and softball as a freshman at Oregon.
He can also ask his parents, Doug and Jennifer, who were both All-American swimmers in college.
“Probably just to visualize what it’s going to be like when you’re actually there,” said Brenner, when asked about the best piece of advice he has received from his family. “Whether you’re going to like the coaches. Whether you feel respected when you’re there. How you see life for yourself there, and whether you’re going to be able to live in the place where the college is.”
After growing up, “in a winning atmosphere,” Brenner, who could also play center and fullback in college, now faces a choice his family is familiar with. He plans to take his time.
“When the time is right and I feel comfortable with the right school, I think I’ll decide then,” said Brenner, who has FBS offers from Oregon State, Wyoming and Air Force. “I think, right now, there are still a few schools that might offer me. A few of them might be close. I’m just kind of waiting it out to see what comes my way.”
In addition to setting Jesuit’s weight-lifting records by squatting 540 pounds, benching 405 pounds and cleaning 355 pounds, Brenner is a standout student. With a 3.8 grade point average, he wants to make sure he picks a school that gives him the best chance to be successful in the classroom and on the field.
“Football is pretty important,” Brenner said. “I want to make it to the NFL, but academics are also going to be a huge part in my life, because football is going to end some day.”
Oregon State is an attractive option, because the school is close to home and his sister had a successful softball career playing for the Beavers. But Brenner doesn’t want to rush his decision.
“I think I want to wait and see what comes my way before I make a decision,” Brenner said.
Hey that’s great, but the last time I checked neither Wyoming or Air Force would compete with top PAC-12 programs.
Given the last couple of years and the numerous issues we discuss daily…. I guess that level of recruit is the best we can shoot for and hope they exceed expectations. JB
PS: I understand Riley is at his vacation home in San Antonio…. sounds great! Has anyone told him that Texas has a few pretty good recruits? I wonder if he could talk to a couple?
Brenner is no low level recruit. He’s a hard-nosed baller who can wreck the opposition. And he’s a natural athlete. Those strength numbers are all him and nothing else. Imagine Olander with A LOT more strength and a more than solid head on his shoulders. His sisters are the same way. They are both outstanding athletes. Compare him to another Jesuit FB/LB hybrid, and Brenner outdoes Owen Marecic in those roles. Putting him at DT or making him that hybrid (at his size and agility) is just a scary scary thought.
I think this class is a mandate on legit DT’s. I absolutely love Brenner, and I like Nick Terry. The Freeman kid from the Seattle area and the Steele kid from Central Cali are two more I like who are underrated due to size/competition questions. If OSU reels in the first two, then I am half-happy with this class. The other half is keeping the O-line cupboard full.
More importantly (to me) is Coach Rob reeling in a couple players. First on my list is AJ Lapray. If he commits and signs early, I’ll be doing the old prospector’s dance for days.
Ostling going prep or JUCO means we have one more to give as well. I think Coach Rob is looking at true PF types for that last ship, but I think he’ll take a top flight PG like Shamsid-Deen if someone that highly rated will make the leap to OSU.
On the underrated PG front, take a look at this kid. His knock is size and a funky shot form. But he’s a baller.
