Child is nowhere near the guy he was last season. He’s lost his confidence and his mechanics are all messed up. Beavers are having all kinds of problems finding a 3rd starter.

I’m a big fan of patience at the plate but if you’re getting fastballs right down the middle, no need to wait around for another pitch.

Homer scorekeeper gave Bryant a hit and an RBI single but that definitely was an error. Count about 8 mistakes on defense tonight which is horrendous. Worst defensive performance of the season by a mile.

This team just hasn’t been there mentally. Beavers look like crap offensively and have for 3 straight games, now the defense tonight joined them. Team better show up to the ballpark ready to compete tomorrow.

I mean, sure, but college starters typically throw every Friday and get in a pattern, likely he told Casey and Yeskie he wasn’t ready to go tonight and so they went with Child instead. Beavers have Boyd and Moore and that’s it for the starters. No consistency from Child or Wetzler.
Disappointing about Child. By the end of the year last year he was the second best starter and now he can’t cut it as the 4th starter.
yeah. Right now my thinking is Taylor Starr should get a Sunday start to see what he can do. I understand Wetzler was hurt but Child has been a major disappointment. He was nails last year. Both of them have been nothing short of craptacular so far.
Mike Parker has to go. He must be in some kind of personal funk, and cant generate any enthusiasm in broadcasting. Pitiful. Beavers get behind and it sounds like he expects them to lose. An announcer should be positive, ehthusiastic and energetic….

Moore coming in relief now, the Beavers will be having Wetzler throw in the series finale tomorrow for some reason. Bizarre decision.
Casey said before the series began that he wanted to rest Moore if possible, I doubt Moore would have started tomorrow unless the Beavs lost tonight. With the Beavs positioned to win this one Casey brings in Moore to see a little work but at the same time get some rest in that he’ll not pitch 5-7 innings.
Wetzler likely to be on a short leash tomorrow.
Almost assures Taylor Starr gets the start on Tuesday against the Pilots.
Moore winds up throwing 34 pitches (24 of them strikes).
So tomorrow Wetzler likely to be followed by Schultz, then an assortment of situation guys. Sure would be nice to see Wetzler avoid his habitual slow start. Would be nice also to see the Beavs clean up their act tomorrow both at the plate and in the field.
Would be very surprised if Schultz came in after Wetzler cause Schultz is the closer. I think Brandon Jackson and Tyler Painton will be the guys to relieve Wetzler followed by Engelbrekt. I hope Wetzler can just go 6 innings and give the Beavers a quality start. If he struggles again, may have to look at making some changes.

It was good to be able to catch another game here in San Diego. They looked a lot better tonight than yesterday. This time USD kicked the ball all over the yard, but some of those balls were hit pretty hard. I agree that Hayes look good at bat tonight.

OT: Do Oregon State fans in general think the new beaver logo is enough for hats and certain clothing options moving forward or will ‘OSU’ have to start being used more to replace OS which will no longer have any official standing with athletics come this fall. People want official athletic marks so the obvious solution to fill more needs is to start printing more goods with the OSU in addition to just the new beaver. The OSU needs just a small something and it would be a pretty good option for those who feel lettering is appealing on certain items.

Yeah, they don’t really have guys off the bench who can step up. A lot of young guys who aren’t ready to step in and get it done, team just can’t afford injuries.
Every single season the Beavers go through stretches where they look really bad and suddenly can’t pitch or field. That stretch is happening now.

Defense is this teams achilles heel. If they can catch and throw the ball a tad bit better consistently they will be a tough out in the ncaa’s. The bench is not especially strong with the glove. Big, big series against ucla this weekend. Hopefully, we get the week started right with a win against UP.
