Moving forward, let’s do a general thread for a bit. Try not to flip your wig. Let’s shoot for a sane, civil discussion of anything. I know there’s not much to discuss sports-wise, so it will be challenging. Covid is affecting AB in that people are being turned off by all the political stuff. Not much I can do about that? When sports return I imagine top discussion will return, too.

Well, things are pretty slow. And it’s looking more and more like no season, given what is going on MLB today.

Curious if you guys have mentally prepared for this, and if so, what do you plan on doing with the free time? What would your mood be if it’s cancelled?
I’d be super bummed mostly because I think this is our best team since 2006, and I’ve been really looking forward to watching Gebbia become elite.
My base case at this point is no season. I know people are saying a Spring season, but due to the liability colleges will face, I don’t see any season…then we reassess if/when a vaccine comes out. Regarding the vaccine, I find it strange people are viewing it as a panacea because we can’t even get half the population to wear masks because they don’t want the government telling them what to do — what makes people think they’re suddenly going to have a total change of heart and shoot up with a government sponsored vaccine? Not to get political there, but I’m more wondering why on earth the psychology would change. I expect half the population to ignore the vaccine. We already have a vaccine – it’s called a mask. And we don’t take it. Financial markets are hinging on this vaccine, but it seems they totally overlooked this reality… /shocker.

Since the topic is inherently a bit political, you can go there. Try to keep it on-topic, though, and not use this as a rant for/against things ruffling your feathers right now.
My take is that this is OSU caving to politics of the moment at the expense of a perfect game title that fans love and that means zilch in terms of anything the anti Civil War crowd argues. My understanding is the title came from many families having alums from both OSU and Oregon, so within that family there would be a spirited civil “war”. How on earth does that need to change? Again, that is weak-minded caving to politics of the moment. This is exactly how we wound up with you know who in office. People backlash against this type of crap, and that’s what I expect here — OSU is going to lose a lot of donors over this.
