  1. Hope we get Matt Wells but if not, then starting to like Wilcox and him bringing Peter Sirmon and Keith Heyward. Some nice pieces there and all of them are ace recruiters.

  2. I saw Broughton play in the JC State Championship game last year. He looked pretty good though I think he rotated with another guy. He transferred to another JC, a very mediocre school. Why? Again, he was/is pretty good but he can be replaced.

  3. The contact period wih recruits is closing quickly too. Whoever gets hired wont have much time to assemble staff and then reach out to potential recruits

  4. 2 of 5 Top NFL executives pick Wells as their favorite coach on the rise. What they said they like is spot on and why I agree he would be a strong fit at Oregon State.

Said he has great “Demeanor and Presence”. Those are also two of Tinkle’s best traits. One NFL executive also mentioned he has shown he is a good coach. Presence and attitude he puts forward along with the chops make him an attractive choice and works well with how OSU is evolving its current image.

  5. Angry,

This seems like an appropriate time to raise a glass to the man who’s made a difference in his own way.

This site can be a tornado of opinion and emotion. Sometimes it seems like people are more focused on being right or proving their point than anything else – it can be frustrating. Making special emphasis on quantity of profanity.

But let me tell you this…

There is CLEAR and measurable evidence that the presence of this site has been a growing influence in the world of unrest around Oregon State sports and I believe without this site we would probably still have Robinson and Riley.

So for that contribution, I say…

    THANK YOU!

    • Thanks, buddy! This is my favorite comment ever, btw. Sometimes this job feels thank less. And by sometimes I mean always. And running this site and having high stress levels over meaningless games and egghead coaches really is a job.

We all contributed. It’s a great day to be an angrybeav

      • Agree with Timber. I’m sure Mike Riley has read or at least regularly reads your blog and twitter. We know he pays attention to his online appearance because he posted in the comments section of that Brenda Tracy article. I do think you influenced this paradigm shift in some way, though we can never quantify how much with proof. Thanks Angry!

  6. Tweet by the father of OSU player Kellen Clute who lives in Spokane.

“The OSU AD was seen leaving the eastern coaches offices a little while ago.”

    Eastern being EWU

I don’t know who his dad is as I don’t have a twitter account. This was sent to me by a duck family member. I’m sure one of you knuckleheads that does have twitter can dig it up and verify.

  7. Baldwin is coming from a crappy town in eastern Washington and recruited FCS caliber talent, I don’t see how that will translate to winning any recruiting battles in California or anywhere for that matter….

  8. another article pissing on OSU and Corvallis. Shocking, just shocking that it’s Goe. I’m not gonna link his diatribe

    Dear Goe,

If you read this site, why don’t you go lick the sweat off Helfrich’s ball bag you duck loving troll

    • Oregon journalists are really pissed that Riley left. They are in slash and burn mode now that “Ezy Access” is gone. I believe that they truly want Oregon St. to fail post Riley.

  9. It’s always disappointing when recruits decommit, but to be honest, if they don’t fit the system of the incoming coach, it’s probably for the better.

  10. Other interested parties include 31-year-old Auburn offensive coordinator Rhett Lashlee and 41-year-old Utah State head coach Matt Wells, multiple sources told the World. The interviews are expected to continue into next week.

One would think Oregon State would be a more attractive job than Tulsa

      • I doubt Chryst comes back. Remember he was the OC under Riley before Langsdorf. IIRC the reason he left to take the Wisky OC job was because his wife was from the midwest and hated it here

  11. From Goe’s article:

“And [the new coach] will need to turn over rocks in the recruiting process to find players interested in a relatively small town without an airport of consequence and with facilities that, while light years better than they were 20 years ago, don’t compare to Oregon, Washington, or even Washington State.”

Washington State- can anyone verify that? If so, that’s a serious BDC fail. OSU has way more money- and football revenues over the last decade – than Wazzu. No excuse for letting yourself fall that far behind.

          • I saw that too. I don’t believe it. UNLV went the FCS route with the coach from Montana. Didn’t work out too well for them.

          • The only other HS to D-1 I can think of off the top of my head was Moeller to Notre Dame.

Yeah, wasn’t Hauck a big success at Montana…..I’m just not sold on Baldwin. I think the mid-major success to Power 5 is a better path.

          • Hauck was 80-17 in 7 years at Montana and won 3 FCS national championships. UNLV?

            2010 – 2-11
            2011 – 2-10
            2012 – 2-11
            2013 – 7-6
            2014 – 2-11

So other than last year, two wins every fucking year. In the fucking Mountain West Conference. I could see similar results with Baldwin in the Pac-12. It’s not worth the risk

    • Seriously about the airport? Who gives a shit? It’s probably 10 minutes longer to get the same airport the Ducks use. I blame Schnell on the airport thing being brought up, because she heard Cooks said something about having to go another 1 1/2 hours because they flew into Portland.

      • Nikegon to the airport – 15 minutes
        OSU – 30 minutes
UW – 25 minutes (with no traffic)
        Wazzu?
Stanford – 25 minutes (with no traffic… either airport)
Cal – 25 minutes (with no traffic)
        USC/UCLA – 15 minutes (with no traffic)
        Zony – 15 minutes
        ASU – 10 minutes
        Utah – 15 minutes
CU – 45 minutes with no traffic

And now we know why CU has been so bad over the last decade.

  12. Wells a solid option but Scott Frost sure is making a strong case he is ready to be a Head Coach. Hope BDC interviews him and would be happy with either Wells or Frost. After that maybe Wilcox with Baldwin at honorable mention.

  13. So sad to see how many “beavers” love Mike “Loyalty” (cough) Riley more than Oregon state. Sad. Embarrassing, really.

As if the man was run out of town on a rail or something, please. The going got tough, his fire was gone here, he was too stubborn to make needed changes in the program, and he left. Again!

  14. I’m really starting to believe that there was this meeting between BDC/MR and Bobby amazingly grew a pair and had some requirements for MR to get the program back on track. Sounds like MR threw a hissy fit. I just can’t figure out the Nebraska connection with Riley, but Eichorst appears to have had a man crush on Riley for awhile.

Talk about a dilemma…I may be rooting for the Ducks in ’16 for the first time ever because I don’t want to hear the Riley is God bullshit from the media is he beats them. I want to witness a full Bankeresque beat down and watch Cornhusker reaction.

    • don’t root for that evil empire. EVER. They represent all that is wrong with college football. I’ll root for Boise State before I’ll ever root for the ducks
