Can’t make this up!
Ohio State has the most recent national title … but it has a ways to go to catch the team with the most titles pic.twitter.com/Y2Rn0wX682
Lols.
In Eugene, they are setting couches on fire. That’s not going to help their reputation of being a landfill. It looks like in Columbus, they were basking in reflected glory a little too hard, and got a mouthful of teargas for it. Back to the couch eating Pringles, Buckeye fan.
http://collegefootball.ap.org/article/tear-gas-used-columbus
How about Canzano and the rest of the selfish pricks asking Super Mario to come back for another year. Anytime you get a first round, and especially a top ten grade you bolt. It’s dumb not to. Ask Matt Barkley and now Ifo. As a skill player, you only have so many hits you can take. Might as well start getting paid for the punishment.
Who says Uncle Phil isn’t paying him already?
Or Mannion? Feeling a little haggard this morning, but my coffee tastes better than usual and I look forward to rubbing elbows with the bandwagon *uck fans today. Absolute drubbing. Now on to recruiting news.
Mariota was expected to be a top 15 pick in the 2014 NFL draft and he came back.
Mariota is one of those guys that I could see coming back instead of bolting for the money.
That is REALLY selfish! He took a huge chance, staying for this past year. He is nuts if he stays another….

I laughed so hard at that, there are literally tears rolling down my face =XD
That was actually pretty good… so long as you don’t know German.
That was great whiskey. Is this your creation?
No. People have been doing those for years
Now if only you could superimpose PK’s mug over Hitler’s and a bunch of UO Admin over the others.
I’m guessing that with the “fucked his bitch right in the pussy line” this was indeed a WhiskeySoakedNapkin Production.
No, but I did portray Jameis Winston in the previous thread
Did you sleep at a Holiday Inn Express?
No. But I did rape my imaginary sister. Allegedly
dude keep that between you and your shrink
lol.
Downfall (der Untergang) That’s a terrific movie in case you haven’t seen it – feels as though you are in the bunker watching it all. I first saw it in England. I’m sure there were people in the audience who had lived through the blitz and the horror of ww2 and I couldn’t but wonder at how they felt as they watched it.
The DVD has some good features.
I’ve heard it was good. I just can’t watch it
I’ve seen Ganz in a couple movies… Manchurian Candidate… Boys From Brasil (obvious)… Goethe… Tag Heller?
He’s good.
But without their couches, wear will they make future Duck fans who won’t attend UO?
Poor Phil Knight, so much money spent, still no NC….maybe he called the wrong play during the game.
“wear?” JC, peko moment…”where”
*ware
Pulling a #beBEAVERBOLD moment there in reverse!
People who dress naked get prizes?
I’m pretty sure that would be a heavily populated party
I was referring to that stupid duck-rooting party announcement originally saying “Where duck colors” before they fixed it and made it “wear”
OSU players and coaches watched in the Reser Lounge, were on the field 6:30 am:
https://twitter.com/OSUBeaversFB
According to Weather Underground it was 42 degrees @ 6:48 and the boys are out there in shorts and tee shirts. I got a feeling they’re going to be toughened up by the time fall rolls around.
Borrowing another monicker…
whatever.
Early morning practices were the best in my book. Between those and the Navy, 5am is a habit… late night or otherwise.
Naps are underrated.
Naps are totally underrated
Does it seem like it’s only white guys?
Yeah… I’m pretty sure that’s what the “shine” part means.

One frat couch does not a riot make.
No jack boots also makes a gathering not a riot.
There is a corollary to this rule:
When you bring a gun to something that was never a fight, it becomes a gunfight.
Apparently, Andersen wants verbal Tavita Faaiu to play OLB. He’s listed as 6’3″ 245 lbs. That’s something different for OSU, who probably haven’t had a MLB that big in the last several years.
How might he be used by Sitake in a 3-4?
Sitake is more of a 4-3 guy, yeah? I don’t think we’re going to use a base 3-4 now that Aranda isn’t coming here.
Criminy!!!
A 3-4 utilizes OLBs that would be MLBs in a 4-3. They drop down to the line and rush, or they drop into coverage.
Lawrence Taylor was an OLB in a 3-4 D.
The MLBs in a 3-4 D are the slimmer, more agile backers.
Word on the Street is GA and Brennan will be on the trail going after some big time WR talent.
– Lavan Alston
– Paul Lucas
– La Casa de Snoop aka Cordelle Broadus
All on the agenda for this week.
Two things:
1. Darren Carrington should not have been discoed for this game. Pot is not a PED. If it’s against the coach’s rules, so be it. Alcohol is infinitely worse for athletics. It’s a poison to the body. It tastes mighty fine in certain mediums. But it’s a poison. But it’s legal… so it must be better.
2. Enough about Nikegon and tOSU. We have a real OSU to worry about… or celebrate, as it might be this last month.
That Sunday game was amazing. I almost didn’t go because my son is turning into a Duck honk and didn’t want to go… and it was late on a school night. But I went, and it was an awesome game. There was no lead bigger than four points on either side for the whole game. It was a nail-biter. And we (BIRGing here) played like we’ve been there before. I don’t care if you think we didn’t have anything to do with the outcome. We did. The team was visibly uplifted by the crowd at times they needed it.
It was also a surprisingly well-reffed game. Does the Pac have the best refs follow the prospective best teams around? We lose this game by 30 if Kevin or Spitznagel show up.
And the women put a beat down on Nikegon.
Oh my!
I’m still a little disturbed that we’re not getting respect in the RPI. ASU is #5 while we’re at about #13.
January 25th baby!
Gymnastics lost to UCLA last night, but they scored well. Both teams scored well enough to be contending in the final 12 at the end of the season.
alcohol and/or pot use are prohibited per NCAA rules.
http://grfx.cstv.com/photos/schools/domi/genrel/auto_pdf/ncaa-banned-substance-list.pdf
Alcohol (and tobacco btw) are only prohibited during games and practices. Both are more deleterious than pot. And if pot is consumed as an edible, both are infinitely more deleterious.
no, alcohol is a prohibited substance. However with urinalysis testing there is no way they are going to catch you if you had some beers 24 hours ago at a frat party. Read the list. Prohibited means just that
Prohibited:
drug class may not be used.
Yeah….
Alcohol isn’t prohibited per current rules:
http://www.ncaa.org/sites/default/files/2014-15%20Banned%20Drugs%20Educational%20compliance.pdf
(Unless you’re shooting guns.)
Granted… you are correct. The NCAA does ban pot. The point is that Carrington wasn’t caught by the NCAA. He was caught by the Nikegon admin pushing through an unnecessary rule that would seek and destroy him and others just because.
Because why?
Because of “Reefer Madness” and those who think that way.
Note: I do not now nor have I consumed pot in some 20 years. But the idiocy and hypocrisy of those against it is unforgivable.
so if I don’t smoke weed or agree with those who do I’m an idiot and/or a hyprocrite?
I don’t give a rats ass that it was voted to be legalized. Whiskey’s rules still apply in his home or car. No weed or you’re gone. Private businesses can do the same. It won’t matter if it is legalized or not. If it’s prohibited by an employer it means just that. What people do in their own home is their business imo. However, it will still be illegal if you are under 21
I don’t disagree with private prohibitions. But they should be just that for pot.
Most private prohibitions are that only because it is idiotically illegal. Just like tobacco and alcohol are offenses at the workplace, so should pot be. But to raise it to the level of those two… or beyond, as laws do… is just inane. If you partake in either of the two legal substances and fight, in any way, against the illegal, you’re a hypocrite.
Let’s put it this way.
If I see a sub smoking pot in his van on site, I let him work. If I see him smoking a cig or dipping, I look at him funny and know I have to babysit him. If I see beer cans in his truck, I’m calling other subs. If I see him drinking, he’s immediately gone.
Those are my priorities over many many years of dealing with people. This is a small sample and only limited to artisans. There is no place for what I allow in other businesses. And I acknowledge that. But reality trumps law in my life.
your bidness, your rules. Pretty fucking simple to understand if you ask me.
and let me ask an honest question. Why do you have to babysit the tobacco user but not the pot smoker?
Smokers are generally filthy and disrespectful. The pot smoker is usually discreet.
If that changes in July, then I will evaluate these ideas and change them accordingly.
If they do both, they’re usually worthless. There’s nothing better than rolling up on a site where someone gets out of their vehicle, and it’s clear what he/they were doing… then they light up a smoke.
LMFAO! That’s funny. You just described someone I know
also a huge duck fan. Not that all duck fans are like that. I will say this much. I did work for an outfit in Tangent recently. Most of the folks that worked in production were duck fans. And they were the nastiest, trashy people. There were a few good folks in there, but the majority of them weren’t folks my sister and I would hang out with in our trailer (for craigbeav)
I think there is hypocrisy in being pro/tolerant of alcohol use and being anti-weed.
Think?
Never said I was anti weed. But I don’t want it smoked in my home, car or around me for much the same reasons folks don’t want to be around tobacco smokers. But I’m not going to be the moral authority over anyone for using either. Yes, I agree if you are taking the moral high ground that alcohol is ok and weed isn’t, that makes you a hypocrite and a fucking idiot. But my point being marijuana smoking should be treated the same as tobacco smoking. If I have a beer, shot or a napkin near you, you aren’t at risk of ingesting it unwillingly. But with smoke, you are putting others around you at risk of inhaling it. That does does not make one a hypocrite or an idiot
Yes, in this circumstance, you’re a big fucking idiot. Love your stuff otherwise though.
Nice libtard statement there. how about you live your life how you wish and I’ll do the same. what I do in my home and how I run it is no one else’s business. And vice versa.
Indeed… I spend a good bulk of my time working to spread my liberal agenda, telling idiots like you how to live your life and working to take away your freedoms. I get off on it.
Also, people that use the word ‘libtard’ are pretty much the same as those that use ‘natty’: fucking retarded.
No, your statement was very fucking liberal. Tolerance and understanding. Unless you disagree with us. I don’t give one rats ass if someone smokes dope, or does it in their own home. To each their own. They just at aren’t doing it in mine. That does not make me an idiot or hypocrite as you state. If you think it does I suggest you look up the definition of hypocrite in the dictionary.
I didn’t call you a hypocrite, just an idiot. Jack implied someone such as yourself might be a hypocrite and GOBeavers totally called you one, but I definitely did no such thing.
Also, who said anything about wanting to smoke pot in your home (ahem, trailer)? You said up above “if I don’t smoke weed or agree with those who do I’m an idiot and/or a hyprocrite.” The issue isn’t that you wouldn’t let someone do so in your home (trailer)… it’s the disagreeing with them doing it at all. Granted, you’re also saying you don’t care what they do in their own home, so maybe you’re just inconsistent.
Finally, the implication that liberals are the intolerant ones is just laughable. The only thing a conservative could accurately claim liberals are intolerant of is conservative bigotry. Also, it’s fun that they’re calling bigotry “freedom of religion” these days.
who ever said I was a conservative? Not I. Or did you just ASSUME since I obviously can’t stand liberals. My apologies for thinking you called me a hypocrite. Now, would you like to go answer my question below. I never stated I disagreed with anyone smoking weed. I don’t personally, never liked how it made me feel or personally can’t stand the smell of it. But never once did I state anything about people who do partake. I asked the question. I have stated, more than once,p to each their own. Now if you’ll excuse me I have to get back to my trailer. My sister needs a slammin
Pssssst – I don’t have a sister
Also, didn’t you mean to say trailer instead of home? People who say libtard live in trailers and fuck their sister.
awww. did somebody get all butthurt cause I called him a libtard. You poor thing. Maybe mommy will pat you on the head and make you feel better so you can sleep tonight
You’ll be butthurt after your mommy gives me head making me feel so much better that I immediately fall asleep.
you like getting head from dead people? And I’m the sick fuck cause I’m a sister slammer?
Dead mom and no sister…. your poor (trailer) dick must be lonely :(
It was until it found the comforting palms of your wife. So what’s off limits here? Family members? Nooooo. Dead relatives???? Obviously not since you got blown by my dead mother. Spouses? Well, she’s dead too so go for it. I have a pretty fucked up sense of humor. And thick skin
Nothing is off-limits in humor… I’ve noticed before that you and I tend to have about the same sense of humor. That’s one of the main reasons I was poking the bear.
And you’re right about wife’s comforting palms. I like them things.
and let me ask you all a simple question. Do you agree with the Oregon smoking (tobacco) ban?
Haven’t lived in Oregon for eight years, what’s included in the ban?
Any ban on smoking outdoors is retarded (for example, the entire OSU campus). Regarding bans in indoor private businesses, I go back and forth. We don’t let industrial companies force their employees to choose between breathing polluted air or quitting, so why should bartenders have to put up with that? On the other hand, it’s a bar.
Anyone that smokes in a house or car with children present should be put to death.
Oregon has a strong statewide law in place providing 100% smokefree indoor air in workplaces, restaurants and bars. The law also prohibits smoking within 10 feet of entrances, exits, windows that open, and ventilation intakes of workplaces or public places. When it took effect in January 2009, the law also restored local control and Oregon communities are once again allowed to enact local smokefree laws.
Limited exemptions to the workplace law include qualifying smoke shops, cigar bars and up to 25% of hotel or motel rooms.
also some municipalities have banned smoking on school grounds and public parks. Legislation was recently passed prohibiting smoking in vehicles when children under the age of 18 are present
interesting. for someone who says they haven’t live in Oregon for 8 years. OSU smoking ban is recent……….
The devolution will not be televised.
G’night whiskey. That was fun… we oughta do it again sometime.
check out this video. the team doesn’t look like they bought into the new staff
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=13YflFI9Gew
I see what you did there.
Very cool song.
It looks to me more like they recognize that there are a lot of changes ahead and they’re somewhat sodden with all the new information.
I’d be worried about the competitive fire of people who’ve bought into the Riley regime. Riley = the Joe Average that Andersen mentioned
I find it funny that a sports blog is making fun of other sports fans for celebrating a win. Did people here not feel happy when OSU beat Arizona..?
What are you even doing here if you hate the money world of college football, take no joy in wins (can’t bask in reflective glory), and are unhappy when OSU loses (game thread about the Stanford game comes to mind)?
There is a big difference. When OSU beat Arizona, I said to my lady, “THEY pulled an upset, good for THEM” and felt proud my school was being well-represented and respected. Running around in the streets, to the point your need to be tear gassed is serious mental illness. You call that celebrating a win? I call it delusional people who think they played some part in the victory. Again, sitting on a couch eating potato chips watching someone else win a game does not mean you won a game. Celebration and pride are normal, acting like you won something (when someone else actually won it) is not. That’s why there’s a psychology paper about the phenomena.
But it feels great when you don’t have to do any of the work!
If you’re a donor, is it the same psychology? I’m a donor, I feel like I contributed to the team in a very insignificant way.
I think it’s important to admit/support when things are being done right. In any job. And visa versa. A good way to do that is via the wallet. When they hired Andersen, I gave my first donation in 4 years. For me it ends there. It sounds like for you it ended there. I imagine for someone like P. Knight donating millions it doesn’t end there. He probably does feel he contributed in a big way, and he’s right. I don’t know where the cutoff is. I’m sure “everything helps” and donations add up, but if someone makes a $5 donation and then feels they played a part they were a difference maker they’re probably messed up.
Define difference.
If everyone voted, I think I would love this country much more than I do now.
That would be a difference.
Voting is different. You only get one vote. Donations are essentially unlimited. So one person can skew things. Phil Knight the voter = me and you. Phil Knight the donor = guy who can buy his way into a title game.
Now you could argue wealthy voters have that kind of power via lobbies, etc. True. I really don’t want to go down that path…we all know how Washington works.
Ahhh… I disagree… in principle.
You’re completely correct in practicality on both fronts. But if everyone participated, then even the Phil Knights of the world would be diminished in their power, if only because everyone would finally be intelligent enough to do something for themselves.
Marketing has little effect upon an educated and aware populace.
But if everyone participated, then even the Phil Knights of the world would be diminished in their power
This is true to a degree. But a cynic could argue it would mean they would just need to lobby harder and spend more for what they want and would ultimately get.
Ideally society wants the “when kings are philosophers and philosophers are kings” paradigm. If P. Knight was introspective enough to know the damage he caused and care…different world then.
Knight will never humble himself to that level. But a preponderance of voices would do so for him.
You did. I am anti-BIRG. I think the fan who complains about something and is heard can make a difference. I think the fan who shows up and cheers can make a difference.
They might be small differences. They might be long-term differences instead of those which might have immediate impacts. But they are differences.
That’s not what birg says.
When teams win a game, the number of students on campus the following day wearing team gear went up, and they use language like “we won”. When they lose, team gear was down, and they use words like “they lost”.
There’s more to it. Read the paper.
Obviously I think fans can make a difference or I wouldn’t write the blog. But say AB made a difference in getting Gary Anderson hired. That doesn’t mean when Gary Andersen wins a game, we should feel like we won a game and attach to their glory. We should just be happy we had a part in the change. It’s a subtle difference, but I think an important one that separates the dudes being tear gassed and bragging about a Natty vs a dude who is just happy/proud of what his school or student athletes accomplished.
The paper is loaded. That’s my point.
I always say we. We are Beavers. We win. We lose. We move forward. I feel no shame in that, nor will I ever do so.
Where the paper fails is in its generalization of fans. There are fans who go out and buy a jersey and think they live and die with that team. I will never say some sports fans can’t be the biggest idiots on earth. Hell, that idiocy can trump political boundaries sometimes. That’s how strong the pull is.
But knowing you have made a difference makes you a fan. Intelligently participating in an activity makes you a fan. You don’t go to a football game to get drunk and yell at the opposition’s cheerleaders (which I have seen). You go to be a part of your team. You go to have a positive effect.
What we do here is constructive criticism (for the most part). That is as positive and loving as I think a fan can be. I do not accept BIRG as it is written. I do accept it as what we call a band-wagon.
Maybe we are arguing over something smaller then. I’m talking about simply using the word “we” when referring to OSU or OSU sports. Simply saying “we won!”
IMO “we” is Oregon State University.
Tangent: What percentage of Ohio State fans are rioting in the streets? Probably a small minority. But I wasn’t meaning to defend them. It’s pretty dumb to destroy your town when you win or lose a game.
I get the “BIRG,” or the smugness people get from being fans of a winning team, but I don’t think just saying “we” is always indicative of that. Obviously there’s a problem when you’re actually thinking you are superior because you root for a successful team.
But just saying “we”, it’s the same as saying “we had a Nobel prize winner” or “Heisman winner.” Clearly I’m not claiming to be a Nobel laureate or be apart of that in any way.
If you say “they,” who is they? The University is completely different now than it was in 1952 when Pauling won the Nobel. Should the school use “they” when referring to accomplishments of the past that have no actual connection to the current people in charge?
I think if you are a “fan” no matter the results of your team, you are not basking in reflective glory because you’re not associating with them merely for the ego boost. You’re not CORFing (cutting off reflected failure) if you are still a repping your team when they are bad… I.e. “man, we are not that great this year.”
I still am a fan in the good and the bad, and while wins make me happy, I don’t act superior to other people because of the accomplishments of the actual team. I say “we” pretty often. I don’t think that makes me a “basker.”
“Obviously there’s a problem when you’re actually thinking you are superior because you root for a successful team.”
This is the biggest problem. These people, imo, are mentally ill. And it’s most Duck fans I encounter on twitter. It seems like they do nothing but smoke pot, eat chips, and then make claims they’re great because 18 year old kids are winning games. That is when BIRG becomes supper messed up.
Again, why do they have to be smoking pot?
Stupid is as stupid does. Pot just makes you lazy… and hungry… not a Duck.
I’m not getting the ignorant ideas here of all places. Like or dislike what you want. But speak truth.
I see, I think we are mostly in agreement then.
I think it comes down the the human propensity for tribalism. You can see it in nationalism, religion, politics, etc. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ingroups_and_outgroups
At least in America, sports is the one that bring out the violence the most. That seems so strange to me.
Yeah I agree. Tribalism. Also think it has to do with most people feeling a void. Very easy to fill that and feel great by associating with someone who is actually great.
That doesn’t get me through the 28 years.
Or does it?
This is where there is a big difference between collage and pros. In collage you are part of the university, the team is part of the university, the alumni are part of the university, the students and faculty are part of the university. When the team wins at the very least it is like the company you work for winning a contract. It is not a stretch to say that without the students, alumni and faculty there would be no team. So yes, it is not a direct win, but you are part of the organization that made the win possible.
How does one go from collage to the pros? What league is that?
The Braque league?
I think nobody needed to be tear-gassed.
Everybody should be tear gassed.
At least once…
When you are ordered to remove your mask, you will do so. You will not remove it before that time, and you will not attempt to put it back on once removed.
you sound like my company commander in boot camp. I’m still teared up…
I honestly get the BIRG thing, but I don’t get it.
Does that make sense?
Sports fandom is as valid as religion. If enough people have the same like mind, things get done. What those things may be are completely different. But they get done. This is where I lose contact with something so specific as BIRG. There’s a reason coaches and players celebrate their fans… well… except for Bo Pelini.
If we never thought things didn’t get done, if minds were never going to be changed, why would we practice this blog?
And… thank you Nebraska.
Also, burning couches over a loss is even more abnormal. Not even players do things like that! And they’re actually involved in the games.
The couch was probably going to be burned either way. This is a Duck frat we’re talking about. In fact, I’m happy there weren’t fireworks and gunshots like there were after the Rose Bowl.
Oh… we burn couches here in Eugene because we think we’re West Virginia.
This town sucks. I will not retire here.
Eugene ain’t got nuthin on Morgantown
Yeah… it really does.
It’s too bad Cord Wood isn’t with the EPD… on a couple levels.
in the spirit of the day: someone in the know, please tell me: did Gary Andersen overlap with Meyer in Utah? and could he be considered a part of Urb’s “tree” (even if he looks to be older than Meyer)
Yes
Yes, GA is part of the Urban Meyer coaching tree. However, they were only on the same sideline for 1 season. 2004 when Utah went undefeated
Andersen is like a step child in that coaching tree. He was at Utah before Meyer.
true
http://www.latimes.com/sports/la-sp-football-championship-plaschke-20150113-column.html
Then there is this. Ha.
“It’s a tough, tough pill to swallow, knowing everything that these guys put into this season and how much we want these guys to be successful in the minds of everyone,” said Helfrich.
in the minds of EVERYONE…………not sure what that says, but doesn’t strike me as good and noble. Maybe it’s just so very very Nike/attention whore like.
Yeah that’s a weird comment.
I thought Helfich seemed a little overwhelmed by the moment and shell shocked afterward.
So basically how he always looks
Well, they definitely had their “look at me!” moment last night LOL
Can’t believe so many idiotic Duck fans forgot the universal truth that defense ALWAYS wins championships. Not flashy offense.
Hey!
At least they flew their colors.
Not.
Called out that ridiculous party on radio. Can finally be at peace :-p
Heard ya, good job!
ADD: I was able to follow you and Tumwater Dave; pushed the “castrated to support women’s rights” thing.
Trifecta!
Recap?
Party idea was stupid and undermined the recent enthusiasm and athletic department messages of not being content to take a backseat to anyone. It confuses “civility” with “stupidity”. Civility means a resisting the urge to troll duck message boards now that they lost, or giving a quick congrats had they won. Stupidity means using OSU resources to root for their program and shooting yourself in the foot.
Well done.
Whiskey got in at the end of the show and snuck in a butthurt about tOSU’s last score!
Just a couple of days until GA can do in-person visits and really pick up recruiting. It should be interesting. So far I like his ability to analyze talent. The TE, Irvine, etc all look to be way undervalued. Hopefully he can supplement them by poaching some high 3stars guys from Utah/WI.
I don’t even care. If he can flush Riley’s recruiting class and get nobody in return, I’m happy. I give him a hypothetical pass for this year.
But I still want the big boys. Olive needs to be a Beav, not a reference to a junk news source. And Aydon needs to join his boys Mageo and Tago. Come join the fun big boy!
I think with even less time GA will pull in a better class than Riley had committed. A lot of these kids flip at the 11th hour. No reason GA and staff can’t get some of them to flip to OSU
Agree.
I really think “PLAYED OFF” would have been better than “undisputed NATIONAL champions.” That’s how uninspiring that is.
Hes headed out with Brennan for in home visits with Alston, Lil Snoop and Paul Lucas this week.
Should be exciting.
I used to be all for the idea of recruiting Lil Snoop, but I’ve cooled on that. Not sure I’d want to have these little videos pop up every week after a game on social media
http://instagram.com/p/vum-xFv9BF/?utm_source=partner&utm_medium=embed&utm_campaign=video
I’m not sure I’d want the circus that follows snoop around at Reser. That’s the sort of attention that might fly in Eugene or Los Angeles. If a kid decides to go to OSU for the chance to mingle with snoop and his entourage, they have their priorities screwed up.
Ive posted here before but I saw his kid play when he was still playing in So Cal ( diamond bar) and he didnt look to great that was his JR year.. He got virtually shut down by a kid from Norwalk with no major offers and that was despite his team force feeding him the ball over and over again..
It was just one game but I did not walk away impressed with the young Broadus. This year his numbers are more impressive but Vegas ball isn’t nearly at the same level it is here in So Cal.
Hey!
You’re missing the obvious.
Snoop will have to buy a box in order to sate himself and his entourage. That’s cash money baby!
Not to mention all the blunts he”ll bring…
yep. We’d have one loge box at Reser completely fogged up lol
Daily Baro article on the dumbest idea ever.
The two dudes wearing puke and puke should get their asses kicked in the middle of MU Square. The pic shows a nerdfest of international students. Mo Kim, the student body pres/vp and Robin Ryan can go fuck themselves.
http://www.dailybarometer.com/news/bebeaverbold-watch-party-strikes-social-media-nerve/article_df63e59e-9aee-11e4-9957-6f7a6a66bd0c.html?mode=jqm
Have a look at Pat, I mean Ms. Ryan (scroll down). After seeing the pic you’ll understand why she’s confused about rivalries and such. She looks like a lifelong ucks fan or someone that longed to go to Reed but didn’t have the mental capacity.
http://sli.oregonstate.edu/seac/about-us/seac-staff
FTD and thank you Urban
Yes…that all makes sense now.
A look at that pic reminds me of a saying my great-aunt used to use, “My, my, the things you can see when you’re not carrying a gun.”
Just sayin’
I’m not understanding the comment about Reed… other than you know what it takes to not get in. And it looks like there are about 50 international students there. Maybe OSU MUPC should have flown a Taiwan flag and called it civility?
I’m sure that would have gone well.
Reedies would never put any stock in “school colors” and would never root for any team if Reed were playing someone else. Thats just the culture there. International has nothing to do with it. The whole bit is beneath them, intellectually.
Reed playing someone… ha ha.
The crowd at the MU looked to be all international students. None of them understood the value of rivalry. My suggestion is to fly a Taiwan flag in their faces and see how far that dog hunts.
Or maybe suggest to them that Long Ma isn’t worthy to hold Nabokov’s jock strap.
Jack, obviously your college boards were so off the charts that you could’ve gone anywhere… I believe changing your name to Don’t Know Jack Shit would be appropriate.
Nope.
Didn’t get into Deep Springs.
I don’t blame the international students. They’re new, probably don’t care much about sports, and know not what they do.
I DO blame whoever got this rolling and approved, so probably Robin Ryan and that ASOSU guy with his WTF sanctimonious interpretation of “civility”. And the Dean of Student Life for promoting that on the FB page instead of the gymnastics meet.
Too insensitive of a post? PC Police.
Just read the article.
WOW! Robin Ryan just does not get it, does she? Wanting us to NOT use OSU resources to actively root for the Ducks equals “inconceivable hate”? PLEASE!
Talk about a one-sided piece of “journalism” by the Barometer. I can see how Lindsay Schnell must have fit right in with them.
That Wisconsin loss to Ohio state looks a little less bad now that they won it all and stuck it to the ducks
Exactly. tOSU is a helluva team and Meyer a hellova coach.
In the BIRG theme, you are talking human basics. It is instinctive to band toghether and form “tribes” of sizes varying from a few to millions or even billions. And as soon as the sense of belonging arrives, the individual becomes party to (feels right in taking some credit for) the accomplishments of the whole. Its not insanity, its just normal, everyday, human behavior.
Face it, much of human behavior is not very nice — racism, bigotry, war, greed … but its all part of humanity, all characteristic of the species.
With 4 (5?) turnovers yet. To give the Ducks that many extra possessions and then hold them to what, 26 points below their season average?
That’s what I thought initially… but still, 59-0? If we won the Pac-12 North and lost 59-0 to the South Champion, would we be okay with that, or would we be skewering Andersen and staff?
Then again, if we won the Pac-12 North, they’d probably have extra goodwill banked and would’ve already outdone Biley, so hey.
Cardale Jones goes full Jameis last night
http://pbs.twimg.com/media/B7M640fCcAAwEBM.jpg
You never go full Jameis
Had we offered these 5 and 3 star behemoth twins before?
Looks like at least one of them just picked up an offer today:

http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/recruiting/player-Sione-Teuhema-149082
We can’t go after LSU commits. There’s no way we get them without an airport in Corvallis.
One of them (the 3 star) has signed an LOI at LSU, so I’m guessing he’s not coming here. Guess it depends how bad Maea wants to play with his twin bro at LSU.
Definitely the future style of CB for Oregon State, big, fast and physical.
Shades of Richard Shermgawd? Or Browner? The way the kid talks makes me very happy.
“Yeah I just canceled on em I had to take this opportunity” – he doesn’t waste time
“I haven’t seen the campus but I’ve done the research; beautiful campus, beautiful school” – he looked into it himself and actually used his resources to figure stuff out
“I played wide receiver so the ball is mine when it’s in the air; I’m a playmaker” – he’s a damn playmaker.
JC guy who was an all american is perfect. Experienced, has the build, hungry, makes plays, understands the process, can play immediately, has achievements already, and will probably start opposite Hunt next year. As far as I’m concerned this is a good player that I hope joins the program.
Agreed. Steven Nelson the sequel?
Decoud:
“It took a week or two to evaluate my transcripts to make sure I could get into the university,” he explained. “Once they found that out, they went ahead and offered.”
Lol Imagine that!!!?? Riley and goobers would have just offered the kid and worried about that whole eligibility thing after the guy committed and was on campus.
They would have made sure he was registered for a mysterious, never ending online course first.
hot online yoga
Sure glad to see even the 4 team playoff in place. In a former year tOSU wouldnt have been in the title game.
The sad thing is about what Larry Scott was preaching before the game, that a UO win would finally put the Pac12 in a position to say it was the best football conference. Now, of course, its all about how they got out muscled as well as out played. The Pac has a ways to go, yet.
Let’s hope the Beavers are the team to take the Pac there!!
Soon….
You only need one great year (see 2000-2001 season) :)
Scott’s statement is for people with short memories in my opinion. The Pac has a long history of nationally prominent football programs and athletes, and it wasn’t that long ago USC was THE program in the country. USC had a very impressive winning percentage and PAC winning streak (28-29 straight) before falling to OSU in Corvallis in 2006. Has UO ever had that kind of conference win streak? Yeah the lost to texas in an NC, but won another.
Yeah USC had violations and penalties, but so do a lot of big time programs; that never seems to meaningfully detract from their status in public opinion.
Like the false narrative about Corvallis/OSU/Riley, it seems like ESPN has successfully sold a false narrative about NCAA football that puts – and keeps – the SEC in the lead.
The playoffs will expand so people can make more money. Then these games will come down to match-ups, not arguments like “they didn’t win their own conference!” TCU could be dangerous as fuck in a playoff, particularly if teams don’t have 3 – 4 weeks to prep as they did for bowl games. If UO draws tOSU in the first round, UO most likely doesn’t make it to the NC….by God, some of these games might be decided on the field, and the shine is going to come off of the SEC.
Sure, agree…. what Scott was talking about is the current situation — the recent string of NC’s by the SEC, and their media perception of being the dominant conference. A UO win, along with the conferences best record in the other bowl games, is ammo to claim to be the best conference….make an inroad into the SEC rep. tOSU winning makes some small inroad but probably not enough. But we are making progress…
I told you bastages not to sleep on the Buckeyes.

I think it’s pretty clear that Ohio State is the best team in football.
Side note – to give the Ducks their due, the tOSU rb averaged 6.8 ypc last night. Again Wisconsin and Alabama in the previous 2 games, he piled on 11.0 and 11.5, respectively. Staggering.
To Angry’s post above on TCU- I’m ok with them out in the cold. They were punished for a weak schedule, and that sets a good precedent. Granted, it wasn’t entirely their fault as SMU is normally a good program. What really killed them though is the lack of a conf champ game. Not playing a 13th game against an elite opponent is a huge advantage. If the B12 wants to play that game, they will suffer in the playoff system as a result. Don’t like it? Fix your schedule- or just go undefeated & force the issue.
Cause Alabama (and most of the SEC for that matter) played a murderers row non conference schedule
Fair, but they did play a conference champ game. That’s a big deal.
They also played a full 9 game conference schedule. Unlike the SEC
Let’s boot them both out of the playoffs :D
I just don’t buy the you didn’t play a conference championship game argument. Yes they played one fewer game against a quality opponent. They also played one fewer cream puff than most of the entire SEC out of conference. TCU had a legit argument imo. They lost one game, by 3 points, to another team that also only lost one game. BUT BUT BUT, Baylor BEAT TCU. Correct. However they also lost to a pretty fucking mediocre West Vagina team. Had they done that, they’d have been in and probably tOSU doesn’t get in and win the “natty”. I know. It’s all semantics at this point. And Alex is correct about one thing in his post above. Win all your games and remove all doubt
and while we’re on the subject, TCU had just as strong of an argument maybe even better to be in than the ducks or Alabama. They lost one game, by 3 points on the road to another team that had one loss (finished with two losses). They absolutely bent over and butt fucked that same Ole Miss team that beat Alabama. They played and defeated 5 teams that were ranked at the time in the regular season to Oregon’s 3 (4 if you count the Pac-12 title game). TCU had a valid argument. And they will be just as good next year as they have almost everyone returning.
But their OoC schedule sucked!
Samford, Minnesota, and SMU
Oregon at least played Michigan State + championship game, and Alabama played WVU (meh) + championship game.
Minnesota sucked? They played tOSU closer (31-24 loss) than the ducks did. beavergopher is totally gonna go Jameis on you!
Alabama did play Wiscy ooc this year.
beavergopher’s gonna fumble my balls? D:===
Bama played Wisconsin in OOC this year? Total news to me. Wisky did play and lose to LSU. LSU rallied from 24-7 down to win 28-24. Maybe that’s what you were thinking?
I will give him crabs…………………………………crab legs. Took em from Publix.
WSN is correct. We were are pretty good team this year despite a terrible QB and very poor WR’s.
The OSU game came down to a couple of stupid interceptions by our QB and two really awful blown assignments that gave up two easy scores. Post-game you could tell Meyer knew he dodged a bullet and our coach was depressed because it was so close the a program changing upset.
Losses: OSU #1, TCU #3, Mizzu #10, Wiskey #13. Only bad loss was the Illini, who sucked.
Only game that was not competitive was TCU and that was with five turnovers and the most miserable QB play I have ever seen.
Ezekiel Elliot just scored again
Bow chika bow wow
Direct flight from Corvallis to Scottsdale. I’d say Paul Lucas is #1 on the visit list for Thursday. Probably Brennan and GA on the flight
May the force be with them…it would be nice to have George’s son on board!
http://www.wsj.com/articles/the-ohio-state-diet-that-cooked-the-ducks-1421168396?ru=yahoo?mod=yahoo_itp
How am I not surprised Meyer literally starved his team to give them a better chance to win?
Guess the Buckeyes were just the hungrier team last night
“We’re not playing a power team,” Johnson said. “We’re playing a finesse team.”
The only folks that don’t understand this is oregon and it’s fans. Trying to get track athletes in one on one match ups and out run your opponent isn’t power. Although I will say they have had some big bruiser backs the last few years that could run you over if they had a full head of steam.
Big bruiser back Royce Freeman didn’t show so well, surprised me. No head of steam mostly.

Bye.
Mariota the savior won’t be far behind…………………….
I’ve heard speculation he’ll have his Barkley moment and come back for unfinished business. That usually goes well : -x
speculation is all it is. He’d be an idiot to waste another year in Eugene when he could be getting paid millions in the NFL. But, there are stupid people out there. Anything is possible
Mariota better get while the gettin’ is good……his “style” of QBing was taking a bashing by many of the pundits last night as not easily transferring to the NFL. He sticks around another year he may end up a third round pick! Although with his little cry fest last night, it probably wants to stay to win one for Phil.
I don’t blame an athlete for crying after a tough loss. They’re emotionally and physically invested. Just as long as it’s not the “someone call the WAAAAAHmbulance” kind of crying and complaining.
you mean kind of like duck fan because the refs in the championship game actually called holding?
exactly like that
WAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH
Yep And besides, he WAS ALREADY THERE — in the title game. But the supporting case wasnt up to it….and that aint gonna change next year. The Dawks had their shot and werent good enough. What in hell is the point in having another go at it?
Still waiting for a response to my email about the duck-rooting party, but I don’t think it’ll be coming. I wonder how many emails they got.
It physically hurt my brain last night to consider someone on the Oregon State campus was hosting a viewing party for the game and advertising it. If Ed Ray had any balls he would expell this numbnut and then provide him a ride up to Mary’s Peak with no return transport!
Hell, I’ll give them a ride up to Mary’s Peak and push them over the side on my own dime
Just dump them off at Dana Altman’s house and let what happens happen
ohhhhh. That’s gonna leave a BURN!
Did I say house? I meant basement. Y’know, because he’s creepy
I’m Dana Altman and I have directv. And I’m creepy Dana Altman and I have cable………

I, too, am still waiting for a response to my email.
After seeing that pic of Robin Ryan, I’m glad my email didn’t include the idea of supporting castration to show support for women’s rights!
Some analysis on ESPN today caught my attention:
Oregon depends on deception (who’s got the ball?) that looks like speed. Once tOSU faced the first UO drive, their coaches made the required adjustments.
that is mostly correct. Deception, speed AND conditioning is used in an attempt to gain an advantage and then capitalize on that advantage. There’s a reason they want to move as fast as they can. To tire out the opponent by not allowing them to substitute on defense and to create confusion. I know Mariota and that offense was a well oiled machine going in to last night’s game. But did anyone here honestly believe Helfrich and co would out coach Urban Meyer? Get fucking real. The ducks could play Ohio St 10 times and I’d take Meyer over Helfrich every fucking time
also by doing that, they get ahead and make opponents panic. I’ve said this for years. The key to beating them is don’t play their game. Play yours. Don’t let their offense dictate your tempo and pressure you into making mistakes. Mistakes happen when you panic.
Cardale Jones just trucked over another duck defender for another first down
It’s… ANOTHER! OSU! FIRST DOWN!!!
tOSU just turned it over again
ducks just punted again 3 downs later
I’m gonna use these ALL FUCKING YEAR! Whenever some douche I don’t know in public says to me “Go Ducks!”, well, there’s a few options for a response
You know the quacks would be rubbing a natty in all year had they won so scotty approves (thumbs up)
“No natty for you….”
I think a good graphic would be a photo of the Ducks WR (Carrington?) with a big joint imposed on his lip and a caption “Fatty’s before Nattys.”
That guy has to be feeling like an ass.
As usual, Eggers has some good stuff on the NC over at P-T, much of it about tOSU being more physical on the lines. I found this bit on tOSU’s program emphasis interesting:
“Ohio State was more physical than Oregon.
“Our line got more physical and improved throughout the course of the year, and that’s kind of who we are,” Buckeyes coach Urban Meyer said. “I hear people say we’re a spread offense, but it’s a line of scrimmage league (Big Ten). You win on the offensive line and defensive line. When we get on a plane in (first class), the quarterback doesn’t sit up there. Who sits up there?”
Said Jones: “The offensive line.”
Added Meyer: “Quarterbacks eat last, or the receivers do. The special teams guys and offensive line and defensive line are very well taken care of in the program.”
That’s an approach that helps brings balance to a program. The QB and skill players obviously get lots of attention in the press. Meyer pays attention to the lines in other ways is a emphasize their importance and demonstrate appreciation; and the other team units recognize it as well.
One of the biggest changes I’m looking forward to for the OSU Beavers is the play of the offensive line. Obviously the offensive scheme will be very different, but the new program culture regarding run blocking will be interesting.
He seems like the perfect coach in the perfect position for the modern college game. You ain’t gonna fool him with your HUNH, he was one of the original implementers of it. He might just HUNH on your ass with 310 lb linemen across the board. And he still values power football and defense, coupled with being the only big time program in a state that can supply a playoff-caliber roster on its own. Plus, he can dip into the SE and pull out blue chips to supplement. Jeezus, is he taking over the world?!
Wisky has done that for years with their O-Line. They are the stars of the program. I look forward to some tough run blocking for a change.
Noticed that Oregeron of USC was picked by LSU for a DLine coach…a lot of people praised his fill-in role as USC’s head coach, how did he perform as a D coordinator? Any better than Sitake?
Oh god. Just opened the sports page during lunch and MR’s mug is staring back at me. Finally get rid of him and comes to the Midwest to haunt me.
There was a Beav who used to post here who lived in Nebraska. Think how he must feel….
Ya Angry, that would suck. BTW, happy new year!
Imagine if Minnesota had hired our Riley…..lol.
Yahoo reports Mariota going to NFL
Thinking he is going to be a major failure as a pro, unless Chippy gets a hold of him.
Beaver Nation 2-0 in football championship games ;-)
