Has anyone heard rumors?
We know Jalen Moore committed. I’m okay with him…2-star “low hanging fruit”, but what I noticed about Andersen’s low hanging fruit is they look more polished and with higher upside. Moore is a big hitter, slightly raw. Maybe within a year he can contribute. Riley’s LHF took 3 years to develop, and didn’t have as high a ceiling.
A good example is Jay Irvine. He was originally a 2-star. He’s now been bumped to three stars with interest picking up. He looks like a really aggressive, intense DB who can contribute soon. Andersen is focusing on the players recruiting services miss. Riley focused on neat stories and guys completely off the grid. The philosophies overlap in some ways, but Andersen’s guys seem like better players who will be ready sooner and have more upside. They also look more athletic.
Anyway, share anything you’ve heard. I’m most interested in Thomas. He is a good looking RB.
On Twitter Moore said he committed to The University of Oregon State….
I don’t know if he’s stupid, or trolling or what.
Someone should do that on one of those stupid hat-picking shows. “I’m choosing the University of Oregon…. State!”
(beavers go wild)
I’m going with the former.
Hopefully bowling and/or yoga are not in his future.
Or should I be hoping for that?
Now I’m confused…
Anybody have a list compiled of next week’s visitors? this weekend was pretty light but I keep hearing next week is the “big” weekend for the coaching staff. Also, haven’t seen any feedback on Alston’s in home visit with GA and Brennan. He had his official at WSU immediately after and goes to Nebraska for a visit soon too.
Also, if basketball can keep the home streak going on Thursday, should make for a pretty exciting and loud atmosphere at Gill for the visitors vs UCLA Saturday. I cant remember the last time Gill was truly loud (or sold out)
Civil War 2012. That game was a sellout, and it was LOUD especially when Garrett Sim on UO made some kind of dirty play. He was booed every time he touched the ball, and that game was a thriller even though the Beavs lost. I was there at that one.
I know because I was looking through the archives for the last sellout myself and that was it.
Just found the box score, attendance was 9604 http://www.nmnathletics.com/ViewContent.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=30800&CONTENT_ID=731862
Kevin Brill was especially bad in that game. I remember being really angry about the officials for about two days after that one.

Ucla is Thursday. Usc is saturday
I think Taylor Thomas is playing in the B2G West Coast Bowl this coming weekend. Thomas got the invite sometime this weekend, and seems excited about it. Which means, if he’s still visiting Utah, he’ll have to do it another time.
Right now, I’ve got 8 guys visiting this next weekend. Khalid McGee, Thor Katoa, Lopini Katoa, Keivonnis Davis, Noah Togiai, Mufi Hunt, James Empey, and Tuli Wily-Matagi. Compiled from various sources, all subject to change.
I’m of the opinion that not all of the current OL’s committed to OSU will sign with the Beavs. Jimenez had an in-home visit with BYU the other night. Haven’t heard a thing on Blake Brandel either. I think that Brandel and Lucas were the last two committed OL’s yet to visit OSU officially. Lucas is/was scheduled for 1/30.
thanks for the list. seems kindof weak for a “big” weekend, but maybe just the large number of visitors is what earned it that name. Heard anything about Olive Sagapolu? Also, I thought GA and Brennan were also supposed to meet Lil snoop and Paul Lucas he past few days. Have heard nothing about any of it. Looks like scout has an Alston visit article, but its behind the paywall.
Noah Togiai is intriguing as a two sport athlete.
Lack of basketball depth definitely helps OSU
At this point in the process, the list looks pretty good to me. Hunt’s got a Michigan State offer and I think a ducks offer among others. McGee offer list is very solid. Empey’s a mauler with several good offers. Davis is a legit player. Thor Katoa is good. All around, I like the list quite a bit. Brennan was in Phoenix on Friday. Nothing on Sagapolu.
Justice Murphy is getting some Beav followers on twitter. just decomitted from Utah. 3* WR
http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/recruiting/player-Justice-Murphy-152902
On beaver banter andrew nemec said he was disappointed that he hadn’t heard from us during the dead period but that we had been in touch since.
Irvine didn’t commit.

LOL.
• Tad Stryker says a commitment to the running game would help unite the fan base behind Mike Riley.
Those poor bastards.
He might actually do it since the husker QBs kinda suck
Just flash back to the Quizz days and Langs amazing play calling.
Anyone notice that Malcom Agnew made that small time all-star game last Saturday? I think it was for FCS and lower division players only.
Also, Green Bay pulled a late Mike Riley era “the game is won” when they failed to put Seattle away. Coaching teams to “finish” is less appreciated in head coaching skill sets than it should be, and it happens to be one of Pete Carroll’s strengths.
Where did Agnew transfer to and what year is he now?
He was a senior at Southern Illinois. How did he look?
I didn’t see the game; I only saw a press report. actually, he might have won the game MVP; anyone he did well enough this year to make the game and merit attention therein.
Hoops Epiphany:
If the Beavs can somehow sweep Bruins and Troy this week at home they are suddenly in the mix for some NCAA Tourney consideration at :
14-5 overall, and 5-2 in Pac 12 play
I would have strongly considered mental evaluation if anyone would have suggested this before the season.
RE: recruiting, Moveao said they were out for “BIG time” recruiting…so far, it doesn’t look like it.
As others, I expect these 2 and 3* commits will be better than Riley’s, more importantly, the coaching and motivation will be superior and we’ll see better results.
Still, I’d like to see evidence they’re recruiting BIG time talent on the O and D lines and at CB specifically…

Brilliant
Hearing that we are going to see some gains in recruiting, especially among the LDS and other heavily religeous prospects.
So far, recruits reviews on the new staff have been surely mixed. LOL!!!
I was sort of hoping we could land some aggressive JC kids who are straight up ball players, not necessarily ball players who are into JC!!!
LMAO!!!!
Personally, I couldn’t care less about a player’s religion, race, sexual orientation, nationality, whatever.
Just win baby.

Longtime #Utah RB commit Taylor Thomas rates his #OregonState visit a “nine” http://oregonstate.scout.com/story/1503831-thomas-considering-a-pair-of-pac-12-programs …
that sounds pretty good, but is better than Utah??
Lol a 9? That’s random
Irvine rated his a 9, too. They’re good friends. Wonder what is up. Mamma Machado has an Irvine update, but it’s behind a brickwall and probably says nothing.
We’ve got a flip!

nicely done GA and staff. Bet we start seeing some more commits flip to us in the near future
Looks like GA, Lockette and Ka’Uahua were the closers
https://twitter.com/Grind_Shine2/status/557311998841847809/photo/1
Ooops! meant TJ Woods, GA and Lockette
I had a feeling Thomas would wind up a Beav. Irvine, too.
Not really sure about the others.
His film is good: http://www.hudl.com/athlete/2608772/highlights/179621375
Unique runner for his size. Runs north-south with an upright body posture. Doesn’t look shifty or flexible. Strengths are excellent vision/awareness and above average speed. I can see this guy being productive. 4.48? Look a little better than that. I’d say 4.45.
Here is his evaluation:
Size-Strength-Speed
Thomas is a bit small for a RB. His weight limits his strength thus limiting his ability to be effective as a strong runner. He consistently displays very good quickness but is only good for short bursts. His long distance speed is just average
.
Vision/Patience
Sees the game well. He is constantly weaving and stopping and going. He makes yards because he is constantly changing direction looking for a better running crease. His patience is just average as he would rather create than wait for a play to develop.
Agility/Acceleration
Displays very good agility as he can change direction quickly and easily. His burst after his stop is good but his top end speed is missing. He changes direction a lot because defender s cut his angle off.
Power/Balance
Displays very little power as he is not that type of back. It will take more bulk for him to become somewhat powerful. His balance is good as he cuts so much he can get over extended but can also catch himself and does not go over.
Bottom Line
Thomas is a quick sudden movement type of back that lacks both top end speed and body bulk. He should add excitement to a mid-major to a lower level power conference backfield. In fact he just may be used a lot in the slot as he is more effective in space.
Mamma Machado is going to steal our material just watch. She’s so behind on this.

I feel like this means good things for Irvine. They are close and it seems like Irvine was more likely to commit to OSU anyway.
Decoud is supposedly going to wait until signing day. Otherwise though this last weekend was pretty solid.
GA is at Irvine’s house as I type this.

Isn’t Barr like 50 and retired?
Chris Bahr wishes he was 50.
Heh heh… 60.
People have been talking about Keivonnis Davis being a possible flip. He’s visiting next weekend. I don’t know if it will happen though, unless we’re looking for 2 DE commits. Found this yesterday via a syracuse writer
Interesting thing here is, Pickard was one of Chad Kauha’aha’a’s guys. Just not sure he would make the move from Jersey to Corvallis, when they could go to school together at Syracuse. Also, Davis is a Lockette guy, out of Miami. Guessing they will meet with him this week while out in Florida.
Pickard is a 2* guy, but has some good offers, including Oregon.
Found a potentially interesting article.
Syracuse’s George McDonald was ‘a big reason’ why Miami DE Keivonnis Davis committed to SU.
George McDonald is no longer at Syracuse.
Looks like Jake Pickard is visiting Oregon next weekend and visited Syracuse this past weekend.
http://www.syracuse.com/orangefootball/index.ssf/2014/11/syracuses_george_mcdonald_was_a_big_reason_why_miami_de_keivonnis_davis_committe.html
Wonder if he’ll swing by Corvallis on his way from Eugene to PDX to hang with his buddy Davis Sunday and meet the coaches?
Nice to have a real speed back on the team.

I watch for Mandy. This German center is pretty nice, too.
I watch for the beavers
In the final analysis: me too, I guess.
Haven’t heard “swish sisters” used much this season. These announcers like to refer to coach as, “Scotty”.

My gf/lady beav looks a lot like Mandy. No wonder I like her.
downvote for jealousy :-P
(way to go angry)
Lol. I’m like…deformed. If i can get a girl who looks like Mandy anyone can. It’s all about personality, humor, talents, etc. It really has little to do with money or looks. You can do it, buddy.
I think for me it has a lot to do with me working from home all day. Social and dating life took a big hit after grad school. PC or not, being half-Asian also doesn’t help with the ladies. I date once in a while, but I pretty much decide to keep to myself, make my money, do my thing, and all that. :)
My problem isn’t attracting women, but rather attracting ones I’m attracted to. All I ask:
1) not clinically crazy
2) not super-fat (overweight is okay, no problem, just don’t waddle)
You know how White guys and Asian girls go together for whatever reason in the US? Fat girls seem to like skinny Asian guys too. Blah! And I’m in decent enough shape.
Got tired of the whole dating scene. Been on so many freaking dates! I break it off, they break it off… Ughhhhhh @_@ It just gets irritating.
I met my current gf on an online dating site. First question I asked her was are you taking any kind of medication for mental health reasons? First one I met off that site I dated for about 2 weeks and decided she was certifiably bat shit crazy. My lady right now is a sweetheart. They are out there. I had to branch out to Salem as angry is right. Dating pool in Corntucky is limited.
“First question I asked her was are you taking any kind of medication for mental health reasons?”
You’re such a romantic ;-)
trust me, I’ve dated my share of bat shit crazy. I won’t put up with 3 things. Liars, cheaters or drama queens. Last thing I want in my life is drama. Gotta agree with angry. Being alone and bitter is no way to live. Get yo butt out there. There’s someone for everyone.
Second question: Did you have a good relationship with your dad?
sadly her dad passed away in 2003
Yeah my wife’s dad died of cancer at 48. But daddy/abandonment issues is the common denominator in 99% of the psycho/slut/addict/etc chicks I’ve ever met. Trying to play captain saveaho with broken girls is a losing proposition.
true story there
Second question.
“Do you swallow…………napkins.”
I met my wife on eHarmony.
if you live in a major metropolitan area I’m sure that site is fine. If you live in Corvallis or a smaller area, it’s a waste of money. Congrats to you and your wife.
“My problem isn’t attracting women, but rather attracting ones I’m attracted to.”
There could a reason for this. You might be putting yourself in situations where those you’re attracted to are there for men they’re attracted to, not for any kind of fun. When you restrict your habits to a small group of places, you restrict yourself.
Think about it for a second. Where do you go to meet women? You probably go where other males go, and at the same time. Do you think women are dumb enough to appear at these places because they think they won’t get hit on? Everyone goes to these places for the hunt. And that’s the mistake most guys make. You should be a gatherer, not a hunter. Talk to women of all ages, ethnicities, shapes, etc. whether you’re attracted to them or not. You’ll find that it becomes easier to make friends instead of treating them as a target. And when you talk to these women, you create and solidify casual relationships and friendships.
That sweet older woman who works at the grocery store is genuinely interested in you if you’re kind and somewhat interesting. Share quick ideas for recipes with her as she scans your food. She will reciprocate. Then you go to something like the free admission night at the art museum (fourth Friday of every month in Portland still?), and you run into her… and her niece. SHe introduces you as that someone I told you about, and you blush. And she talks about you because you’re kind and have recipes, not because you’re planning to climb Everest and/or run your tenth marathon.
Think of the places you go and the people you meet as a chance to brand yourself. You gather a network, and the network will work for you in unexpected ways.
Things not to do:
1. Go to a bar on a Thursday, Friday or Saturday. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday are better days for meeting down to earth people. You can probably choose one of those to go to trivia night. It’s better than wallowing in your glass on a Friday while women only seeking attention bore you with how much attention they need… at a bar.
2. Sit at home on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday. Something as simple as going for a walk after dinner is better than watching TV… alone. It’s easy to find things to do Thursday through Sunday. But if you waste those days partying and spend the other days sitting on your couch, you’re going to not like the people you meet. Volunteer for some weekly event one of these nights. Join a group that does something you like on Meetup.com. Remember that you’re networking. Go to the book store for an hour and just look around. It makes you more interesting (to employers as well) when you do stuff… any stuff… and can talk about it like it’s interesting. It doesn’t have to be interesting. You just have to make it sound interesting. And if yu do it, you grow to like it. If you like it, you can be genuine in telling about it.
3. Go to the gym and lift/run/etc. The gym is another place where hunters and prey gather. In fact, if it’s on a “where to meet women” list, you can expect guys to flock there for that purpose. Go to a gym for yourself only. That means you go when you want to be alone. And by “alone” I mean being the only man in the place. Think for a second. Most posers lift weights in front of their mirrors in the evenings then go out to pose some more at the bars. Weekend mornings turn out to be a great time to be at the gym. While the posers are hung-over and wondering who the crazy girl next to them might be named, there are classes which are fully attended by lots and lots of women who didn’t waste their times at the bar last night. Join one of the classes… or don’t. Many hang around and continue to work out after the classes. And when they look at the only guy in the place just walking on a treadmill they see someone who didn’t go get bombed and end up with daddy-issue-girl last night. They see someone who has some sense. This sometimes leads to the next.
4. Don’t make dates on the weekend nights. And if you do, make it for something you want to do. If she doesn’t like it, you have less in common. If she does, you have something you can talk about with intelligence. Make dates for things like dinner on a Tuesday or lunch on a Saturday. There are no expectations, and that leads to fun.
Break out of your cycle. Shop at the grocery store at 9pm on a Saturday instead of when all the posers are cruising the aisles. Go to the gym when men don’t go. Spend your weeknights doing something. Spend your weekends doing something different like a flea market or a festival (isn’t the chocolate festival this weekend?). Instead of joining a dating site, make it more organic. Join Yelp and contribute honestly. You’ll discover people who do the same and have similar interests commenting on the same things as you. Then you’ll see them start commenting on your comments and asking you advice and such through PMs… more networking. Take a cooking class. Go to the library or the museum. Take a walk and stop in the shops you always walk by just to take a look… even if it’s just the knitting store or the tchotchke shop. Tell them you just wanted to see what they had. Hell, you might find a unique gift for a family member. It’s hard to not be liked by a shop owner when you say something like, “My grandma’s birthday is coming up, and I want something thoughtful to give to her.”
The more acquaintances you gather, the better you feel about yourself in the community. The more you become human to them, the more they work positively for you… in subtle and big ways.
Good advice, Jack.
My problem isn’t attracting them, it’s keeping them. I tend to start taking things for granted and don’t work at the core relationship. So WTF? I have kids and grandkids.
Whenever I’m really in need I can always go to Winemucca and rent one for the night!
Not sure how old you are Scotty, but you’ll have better luck going after the ladies who are in their mid 30’s.
When their clock is ticking, and the bar is closing……I like your chances…..
Buzz is, DL Elu Aydon is another one to watch

you heard about rumblings of Wisconsin’s academic entry standards that points to one factor for GA leaving Wisconsin
Here is a story about OT prospect Sam Madden
http://www.maizenbrew.com/michigan-football-recruiting/2015/1/18/7760617/sam-madden-father-talks-wisconsin-decommitment
Pretty funny because when you think “higher education” you think “Wisconsin”… yeah right.
Seriously, when did Wisconsin start believing they’re MIT? I am not even sure that’s a better degree than OSU. Maybe slightly.
their dairy program must be killer
Thanks for the link. My take is that honest and timely communication is the issue. Among other things, seems to highlight the importance of having a good recruiting coordinator. Also brings to mind that overused descriptor: “detail oriented”.
On Andersen’s staff who coordinates recruiting? Seems Guinta and Yray are likely.
Like much in life, managing expectations is often critical and prospective SA’s deserve straight talk w/respect to the hoops they must jump through to join the team.
Bad reflection on the organization if recruits “fall through the cracks” and aren’t given timely info. That was a big part of my disappointment with the Peko situation.
Doesn’t this reflect poorly on GA?
I mean, it would have been Andersen and his Badger staff that was leading this kid on the whole way, right? Of course, they could pass the buck and say that the “people at the admissions office” led us to believe that he’d be admitted.
In all honesty, doesn’t this make it look like GA was telling this kid to stick with the program when there was little to no chance he’d actually get admitted? I recognize that college football recruiting isn’t all rainbows and sunshine, but I’d like to see a little bit of integrity at OS.
Certainly seems like it could reflect poorly on GA, but we are only getting one side of the story. He did give a verbal commitment in June, when GA had no idea there’d be an opening with the Beavs, and Chryst hasn’t had a full month to get up to speed on details.
BTW 6’7″ 328lbs! per: http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/288936321.html
Also, did you see in the original post that one commenter (chevman24) said there was more to the story behind a paywall?
The story from Wiscy is a lie. It’s not academics.
You get that following chevman24’s suggestion?
Any more you can share about the story?
Is GA off the hook as to being anything less than straightforward?
good grief beavs, if you’re gonna foul at least block the shot
This game is over. Lady beavs have it.
Good to see in-demand commits that have line after line of offers. Just imagine what these coaches could do with a whole season of recruiting. We should be getting some more good players-probably end up better than if we had kept Riley’s recruits.
Hansen isn’t bad looking, either. A bit of a long face but nice features.
She’s from my neck of the woods.. Here in the OC I’ve ran into her a few different times at the gym and once at Home Depot of all places.. She looks great in normal clothes if you get my drift..
First off, why we gotta sexualize the members of the women’s team when we would throw a fit if a bunch of women did this to our men’s team.
Second off I totally agree lol. She actually has a good fashion sense on top, I’ve seen her in normal clothes and I was like “nice”. I’ve always thought Gabby, Deven, and Jamie as pretty.
Hahahaha yes! Preach.. She sure does.
And why do we sexualize women?? I’m going to say its because we are men..
The German center has a pretty face, but a bit too stocky a body for my tastes. I like her face, though.

Jay Irvine just committed to OSU.
Recruiting news? Stop being a cheesy weasel!
With Thomas and Irvine, the Beavs are starting to assemble something that looks like a real recruiting class. Remember that “In Riley we trust” crap? What nonsense. I feel it’s true with Andersen, thought. I feel he’ll get the job done somehow. His thinking is extremely calculated, lucid, and logical. Riley’s was muck-dude had an x86 processor for a brain. Anderson is like a 16core 6gzh
Riley’s x86 isn’t a horrible processor, despite its clocking issues, random freezing, and missed cycles. It’s the Banker firewall that lets everyone through that’s the real problem.
There is a lot of Utah chatter saying Chris Barr and Taylor Thomas are a packaged deal. Don’t know how accurate it is, but they are convinced he leaving next.
he’s Nebraska’s problem now
Hey angry, where do you go to meet women when you’re not in school anymore?
AngryMatch.com
A year ago we could not even have imagined 16-1. No matter how they do from here, the ladies have been awesome. With the Dawgs closing in and the score tightening at the end, I turned down the sound and watched with Pablo Alboran’s La Escalera in background. Great combo ending.
Last year 24-11 overall and 14-1 at Gill; lost only Alyssa Martin from that team. So expectations were pretty high for this season. 16-1? no, not that high.
The last two wins are the only ones this season that haven’t been by at least 10 pts, good tests and teachable opportunities for this team.
Stanford lost to ASU at Maples tonite. They were 116-3 at home going in to tonite’s game. Huge game coming up next weekend for the lady Beavs in AZ.
yep. ASU is very good as well. I think this is the year someone finally dethrones Stanford. Hopefully the lady beavs are the team to do it.

angry and you other guitar folks, what do you think of this amp?

Not a huge fan of that. High end sounds brittle. The distortion sounds like mid-80s hair bands. The dynamic range sounds squashed, too. Is there built in compression or something?
I like the older Marshalls, though.
that was kind of a shitty video. This one sounds better to me. I ordered one last week and will have it Friday. I did a shit\pot of research on amps and decided on this one. Maybe I should’ve asked for advice here first lol. I’ve had it with my 20 year old crate practice amp. I didn’t need anything ginormous

It still has that “compressed”/limiter sound I dislike. Needs to open up the headroom. I’m not sure why it sounds that way…I take it it’s solid state?
I like a completely different sound (60s Fender tube amps) so I’m not the best person to ask.
it is a solid state.

Although craigbeav will get a kick out of that since I live with my sister in my trailer
Depends on what guitar with what pickups you’re plugging in to it and what style of music you play.
I don’t know what those cost but you really should give some of the new wave of low wattage tube amps a hard look.

Again, it depends on how much scratch you have and what tone you’re looking for. Some are single channel and some are 2 channel. A lot of the “higher” powered small tube amps have power switches that will cut down to 7, 5 or 1 watt for quieter jamming.
I usually plug my headphones in after my sons go to bed
$199 on Amazon is what I paid
What kind of sound are you shooting for? Is it quiet at home only, with no chance of ever playing loud?
Forgot about this one:

Only time I could is when my sons are at school. And pray the neighbors like it loud lol
I’m not shooting for any particular sound. I don’t record. I only play for my enjoyment. Playing guitar is a wonderful stress release for me.
Dude I hear you on the stress relief. You should try cranking a 100 watt tube half stack and blasting along with a drummer that looks like animal from the Muppets. Man I miss playing in a band.
I like anything from Chicago to AC/DC to Savoy Brown. Broad, crappy taste in music
and even love some country. Lady Antebellum and Thompson Square are the two most recent I like. Good harmonies
Well not really needing a super high gain sound actually helps. That amp should work fine, I would also have recommended looking at the smaller Line 6 and Vox modeling amps.
Do you have a decent acoustic guitar? I have a grungy old fender that sounds great.
I have two great acoustic guitars.
These are the best small practice amps: http://www.bugera-amps.com/EN/Products/index.aspx
If you can’t swing for a champ or princeton.
They at least have a tube. I can’t stand the sound of solid states. They sound like they have limiters built in.
Have you played any of the low wattage tube amps I listed? they all have tube pre and power and they all sound great in their own way. Again depends on what sound you’re looking for. I like a big heavy saturated distortion. So no fenders for me :).
Ahahahaha, nice. It adds a new dimension to the song if it’s translated from “your sister” to “my sister”.
I saw the “Farmers Only” dating site commercial and thought it was a SNL skit at first. How the hell do you prove you are a farmer for starters?
