1-0 Beavs in the Bottom of the second with no outs. Elliot Cary on Second, Michael Gretler on First with Trevor Morrison at the plate. Trying to learn all these new names tells me this truly is a young team!
I don’t wholly disagree. If Harrison is batting 3, then I’m good with Hendrix (who does have wheels) at lead-off. I’m not sure on Church at the 2. Gretler is supposed to have some wheels, which is why he was a pinch runner for Ice in the first game. If his bat produces, he should be 2. Harrison at 3 would be best served with Ice at 4 and Clark in the 5, assuming Clark’s bat swings as well or better than last year.
I say Gretler at 2 because his initial numbers are pretty good… I know… small sample. But if Harrison continues to clear the bases or starts getting IWs, then Ice is there with experience and consistency. And Clark behind him protects him as well.
This is painful. Hamilton gets doubled off as Cary lines out. Pomeroy walks the leadoff guy and 2-0 to the next and he’s gone in favor of Woodward, jc transfer.
Woodward gets the cats in order. Clark triples off the wall to lead off the b7. Ice singles him home on a 3-2 count in an AB where Ice fouled off several two strike pitches.
Hickey replaces Woodward, faces the top of the order. I suppose Casey wants to find out if Hickey is going to be the closer. Hits the first batter. Gets a couple of outs and then walks the DH. Single to CF on the 0-2 pitch and the tying run is at 3b
If Cal beats Stanford on Sunday and Lady Beavs take care of business at Utah, they will clinch at least a share of the Pac-12 title and the No. 1 seed in Pac-12 tournament due to sweeping ASU.
Yeah… I got tired of every commentator in every game saying he was the fastest player on the field. I would say he’s not even in the top ten on his own team.
Go Beavs
Beavs Go
Bo Geavs

Morrison slaps a triple and Beavs up 3-0. No outs and TM at third.
Hendrix singles. 4-0 Beavs.
Fuckin A. Harrison hits a two run homer!
I think we found Conforto’s replacement power in the lineup. This kid is a freakin stud!
KSU pulls their starter.
Didn’t we play these guys in the Corvallis super regional 2 years ago? I thought they’d be better than this
Harrison has some ridiculous pop. Teams are gonna just start walking him pretty soon
Hope not
But he’s only batting .500. I think they’ll wait until he’s up somewhere around .650.
?
I don’t see why Logan Ice can’t bat leadoff. Move everyone down a slot. .400 OBP last year, and he’s hitting pretty well this year.
Because he’s slow.
Everyone on the Beavs is slow.
Speed doesn’t matter with how much Casey bunts. It doesn’t matter too much, in general.
At least bat him 2 if that’s the belief.

Agree.
Not impressed with Eckert so far.
Get Eckert the hell out of there.
If the Beavs stay true to form (in this young season) they’ll let the inherited runners score before putting out the fire.
Pissing away the big lead.
Pitching sucks.
Bauer horrible, WP, single and double and the inherited runs score and 2 RISP with nobody out.
After another single he gets Yeskie’d. Faced 3 batters and couldn’t get an out. Go ahead run now at 1b with Shelton coming to the hill.
Absolute garbage.
It’s official. Pissed away a 6-0 lead. 6-6 in t5. One out runner at 3b
Outside of Moore the pitching is an absolute mess on this team right now
It wasn’t unexpected. But it’s just frustrating after the last few years where the new guys stepped in and played really well early on.
K st squeezes in the go ahead run.
Church throws out the runner at the plate for the final out. Runner tried to score from second on a single to LF
Beavs have but one hit since chasing the starter in the second. Reliver had struck out 3 in a row before Hamilton get to 1b on the 3rd KSU error.
This is painful. Hamilton gets doubled off as Cary lines out. Pomeroy walks the leadoff guy and 2-0 to the next and he’s gone in favor of Woodward, jc transfer.
what happened?
Ice throws out the runner trying to steal and Woodward gets two groundouts.
Hendrix triples in Gretler with one out. 7-7
Church with the sac fly, 8-7.
Woodward gets the cats in order. Clark triples off the wall to lead off the b7. Ice singles him home on a 3-2 count in an AB where Ice fouled off several two strike pitches.
End of 7 and it’s 9-7 Beavs.
Woodward on a roll, retired all 8 batters he’s faced.
I had some friends who played against him in a high school playoff football game back in 2010.
Hickey replaces Woodward, faces the top of the order. I suppose Casey wants to find out if Hickey is going to be the closer. Hits the first batter. Gets a couple of outs and then walks the DH. Single to CF on the 0-2 pitch and the tying run is at 3b
Make that go ahead run on 3rd!!! Ugh!!! He had two guys with 2 strikes on them and then gives up 2 runs in the 9th! ugh!!!
Wow a double ties it up and runners at 2b and 3b. all this happened with two out.
see comment below
Pitching blows
Maybe Woodward should’ve started the 9th.
Should have let him ride it out.
finally gets out of the inning. But that was really poor. A HBP and walk then a string of hits.
The Beavers are awfully generous with these blown leads. Don’t want to win games that easy, I guess
Angry’s favorite, Clark, leads off with a single and Donohue pinch runs
Beavers may have still won if Casey didn’t bunt Hendrix in the 8th.
Beavs win!
Very fortunate to win with how poorly the team pitched and some questionable decisions but still a nice win, K-State is solid
Bunting Ice?! why?! let him hit!!
Ice lays a bunt and moves Donahue over to 2nd. 1 out 1 on 2nd bottom of the 9th
Earl Weaver says…..”stop all the damn bunting”.
The only thing Earl knows about a curve ball is he couldn’t hit it.
donahue moves to 3rd by a grounder to 2nd. 2 out 1 on 3rd, Billy King at plate and has a walk off base hit to drive in Donahue! Beavs win 10-9!!!
This was a least a three napkin game.
napkin haters.
King with the walk off single
Lady Beavs tied with Colorado at the half 26-26. Shooting a low percentage and taking a lot of non-ideal shots.
Lady Beavs dominate the 2nd half, win 66-44.
If Cal beats Stanford on Sunday and Lady Beavs take care of business at Utah, they will clinch at least a share of the Pac-12 title and the No. 1 seed in Pac-12 tournament due to sweeping ASU.
in addition a loss by ASU at either UCLA or USC this weekend and they would clinch it outright.
OT: NFL combine. Mannion has small hands for such a big guy. Only WSU’s Halliday smaller.
Yes… and the fastest college football player in America clocks a 4.2 40… oh… sorry… a 4.52 40.
who dat?
Mary-Ota? Nice kid, but will be a major project.
Yeah… I got tired of every commentator in every game saying he was the fastest player on the field. I would say he’s not even in the top ten on his own team.
If I ran a Vietnamese restaurant, I think I’d have to have a separate line for soup orders and would call it the “Pho Queue”
Near my childhood buddies house in Austin TX there is a Vietnamese owned donut shop called Howdy Donut. The sign says “Seven Day Open.”
A drum kit rolls down a hill.
http://stanfordflipside.com/2011/05/new-vietnamese-restaurant-coming-to-campus-pho-queue/
damn, they beat me to it by only 4 years. would have been fun to be the order taker and point people over to that line and just say “Pho queue”
