The following is an excerpt between an inside source and I. Combine this with GA saying some players need to grow up (we have to assume that was Bright O, but who else?), and Storm not starting the game (possibly an injury, but he didn’t look injured). Then there’s the issue of possible locker room divide over the QB situation and locker room issues over moving players around so much — I’ve never seen so many players moving positions — and GA shunning a pampered media used to Father Riley.
Anyway, read below and decide for yourself. I sense something negative brewing, but wins fix negative vibes, and the Beavs should be able to eek out a win. I am definitely lowering my expectation (score prediction), though, as this seems like a divided team with some conflict brewing.

This has been a really weird week at practice.
First, there was zero energy or I should say very low energy for only being the third week of the season. It had a final week of the season after a blowout loss with no bowl game on the horizon kind of feel to it. Seth is even mentioning that he only needs to bring energy on the field.
Then players were dodging the media like crazy, saying they have to run to the weight room and that they will be right back, then never coming back out for interviews. It’s a big shift from previous week. I don’t know if this is because of what the media members who haven’t bothered to show up to anything all season wrote after the Michigan game or what.
The offense is still looking like a mess the past two days, Seth is short-hopping screen passes to receivers and Marcus looks rattled. Honestly, dating back to last week Mitchell has looked the best. If I’m the coaches I give him a couple series against SJSU, the quarterback play has been so poor up to this point, why not see what he can do in a game? Probably won’t see him, but I would give him a chance.
Angry:
That is crazy, but not totally unexpected — after week 1 I wrote something like the rush of hiring GA is now over and fans and players have to deal with actual results now. The players in the preseason were talking about adding on all this weight and muscle and talking like they were all world. I bet the kick in the nads at Michigan, and the return to reality, is hard to deal with.
Players will work hard for a taskmaster type coach when they see results, but it becomes harder when they work their tails off then get beaten that badly. It’s going to be harder for them to “respect the process” when it nets a beat down. It’s possible they’re still jet lagged from that trip, too.
Source:
There is definitely that feeling that the “honeymoon phase” is starting to end. Which is a good thing, it was never going to last forever especially during a rebuilding year.
Good call on the jet lag, everyone who made that trip has been complaining about being not up to speed quite yet. That is an excellent point. Maybe I’m just overreacting a bit on this, maybe not, we will find out on Saturday. Just an odd week.
The episode of the Drive covering this week should be interesting if all of this is true.
That’s the problem with spilling Biley on your program. That lazy doggone it they got us again mopey mentality takes years to wash out
The more I think about it, the more I realize the Riley mentality softened the blows of losing to superior teams. The players probably never really expected to win in the first place, so no ego blow or disappointment after a big loss. Show up, get your participation trophy, move on, aw shucks
I’m starting to lean your way despite my wanting to not be mean… which, I am told, I can be sometimes.
You mean you don’t want to be a Jack ass?
No. I’ll always want that.
But I’m getting tired of Pollyanna trying to outdo me.
Your source sounds like Schnell and I just have to take what she says with a grain of salt. However, I think this may go back to another thing I mentioned in a previous thread. That lack of leadership on the veterans to show the kids how you prepare and practice everyday. We just don’t have enough Seniors to show the way.
If it is true than its going to be a long season. It does not bode well for the best recruiting weekend of the year so far when none of the players are happy, and they need to host the recruits?
No way is angry talking with Schnell
probably not, but the Riley apologist crowd was/is legion; plenty to choose from
They can go to hell and take their imaginary deities with them… since hell also doesn’t exist.
Something about a handbasket… blah blah blah.
Oh I can rain fire and brimstone on you if that’s what you want.
I just figure you’re smart enough to type words into a computer, so I don’t need to grift here.
my interpretation of all this is that everyone, including the Riley hold-overs, bought into the new promise, and realistically so since it was based on enhanced conditioning and better coaching instruction. Now that everyone has seen that they’re not going to go 12-0, or struggle to win games more generally, the doubters are coming to the fore, almost certainly Riley-legacy guys. As for moving players around, how many YEARS have people in this blog complained about Stand-Pat Riley trying the same thing week after week with no change in results. I see this shifting about as a positive development though I admit that for players involved directly it can be challenging. The ONLY thing Andersen has done to date that in the retrospective view of two measly games is that Del Rio and Vanderveen were mobile enough to run the spread credibly, and more particularly, drop back in a passing formation and deliver the ball with a modicum of success. In that regard, if Collins and MM struggle this week we will certainly see Mitchell out there. This is shaping up as one of the more interesting early season, pre-conference, games in recent memory.
Vanderveen is still on the team. If he’s athletic enough to play tight end he can sure as fuck run for a first down.
I agree, and we can’t rule out seeing him at QB before the season is over. I also think two of the characters in the “need to grow up pool” are Victor and Caleb
Add Guyton to that list.
Thinking about it I’m actually entertained by the idea of a now 240# Vanderveen trucking a safety on the way to a first down scramble.
Jared Lorenzen?
Can Peko not hit a receiver too?
I’m not complaining that they’re moving people around. Mostly just the Nall situation where they KEEP moving him and asking him to change weight. That isn’t right.
The rest are fine and some make good sense, but you can understand how players might not like it.
Shurod Thompson got a comic tonight. I kindof live that the kid tagged Beavrecruiting when he put it on twitter. Good exposure for the account and for angrybeavs.com if it has the same popularity as Wallace’s last night.

*Sorry for going off topic already*
Simply amazed that names can be on unis and such. I don’t even know what the rules are anymore.
OT:
Today is the 11th anniversary of the day I quit smoking.
Thanks Coach Andersen!
Tougher question:
Do you remember the day you started?
I did it as a ricky at Point Loma… made the gubmint pay for me to quit that shit.
Good for you.
The day I started…I remember the day but not the date. Neighbor kid showed me how to inhale out by our garage. I was 15 or 16.
I just wonder how much better at sports I would have been without that…
This is just dumb. Riley enthusiasts can go cheer for NU. Players who don’t want to play can leave. That would actually help us with recruiting numbers… and dead Riley-weight.
GA hasn’t ditched OSU like the last three head coaches have done… sorry… like the last two have done, one twice.
Yes… Bike Smiley is being likened to ballast… in the middle of the ocean.
If you don’t like it, go win a non-con game at a big venue… or a conference game at a big venue for that matter.
Do we need to trot out the numbers yet again? What was Riley v. Top 25, 10, 5? What was he on the road?
What is he besides a liar who ditched us twice (not that I’m complaining about the second one)?
Jonestown called and he wants you to drink the koolaid. Until Andersen does better than riley I’m Gonna complain and so far he is worse.
Huh?
We need to go 1-3 for several seasons in a row before you complain about GA.
And this is the team Riley left us. Do you think he bugged because of his checkbook? Do you think he bugged because of loyalty? That sounds about right for fans of the Riley.
Get over yourself. This is a new day for us. We will win just to spite you and your ilk. Then we’ll win to spite me and my ilk. Then the world ends.
Amen.
Last 58 minutes of game against a bad michigan team was unwatchable. Worst offense I have seen other then first drive in a game since Montana in 94 or 95. Collins is a poor mans tim Alexander but slower with a worse arm
And?
I don’t disagree. Our D is the best I’ve seen since 2000. But they’re also young and dumb.
I’m not sure what you expect out of the shambles Riley left of this program. He tucked tail and fled at just the right time for him. There was not going to be another chance. Dee needs to be able to shop on Madison Avenue baby… more than twice a year babay… yeah baybee!
Do you think Riley had conviction enough in Banker’s abilities that he thought the D that lost nine starters could help a decapitated offense win half their games?
Of course he didn’t. Who in their right mind would even remotely think that’s a possibility? I mean, come on! We’re all adults here. Well… I’m an adult awaiting your like-confirmation. But come on!
This has to be the dumbest argument since our last Nike fail. I need to take up some religion just so I can blame some imaginary deity for this stupidity.
Oh great heretsoisp in the sky… and maybe in the ground… yeah… everywhere… yeah in the water too… heretsoisp… make me some munnie baybee!
I feel like I should have an arena to announce my wont for money. Would that make it all more legit?
I almost (I do… but I have to couch the words) guarantee that I can make one-million dollars peddling fake Jesus shit ideas. I absofuckly guarantee that shit one-hundred percent.
And you know I mean it since I spelled out those words.
Yay! Words!
Jack if you think this D is the best you’ve seen since 2000, you are either completely delusional or just can’t remember shit.
Who are you going to throw out there? 2006 or 2007? They were good. But they were majorly flawed in scheme and did not play up to their potentials. Last year was as talented as this year’s squad in terms of athleticism. But they sucked eggs… big time.
The obvious flaws in this year’s D are fixable and/or will correct themselves as experience is gained. But it’s also obvious that our D is playing at a much higher level than they have done for years. And there is so much upside to the group as a whole.
Oh… and unlike a Riley team they didn’t give up when the game was out of hand. They kept heir heads up and kept playing. I reserve your right to call them out if they do so at some point this season. And you would be right if they do what Riley teams did at least once or twice a year, if not for whole seasons.
That 2006 team, btw, gave up twice in disgusting fashion. One I remember was on the smurf turf. The other was maybe Cal? And then Al had to have a talk with Riley about how poorly his team was representing little old OSU.
Someone quickly found an identity after that.
Wait… didn’t we also lose to a simply terrible Wazzu that year too? Those were some of the worst losses by one of the most talented teams we ever had. We are talking Avezzano bad… except that we actually had good players on the roster.
Banker had a very good D around 2005 didn’t he? Statistically and specifically in terms of rushing defense?
Then around ’07 spread offenses and read-option started being used in the Pac and Banker’s D kind of because something that was a nice surprise against USC once in a while.
I think this year’s D will be one of the best in a while, not in term of yards and or points, but in terms of TFLs/sacks, big plays, turnovers.
Interesting comments from GA on the Beavers inside the Huddle show about the outcome of the Michigan game: “Football isn’t a voluntary tough guy sport”, “just to run around and look pretty just isn’t good enough”, “It’s a man’s game, let’s go play it the right way”. “I’m not used to being around that” (re:people running the ball at you at will). Maybe the guys are dealing with a nice reality check and the coaches are on them about basically being tougher. Probably the change up in positions along with the kick in the groin is what your source was seeing. The team’s still purging Riley’s stuff and it’s probably jarring to the upperclassmen leaders. It’ll be interesting to see what develops, and a win won’t hurt.
I agree. I like this gut check stuff. The men need to step forward. This is not the time when everyone stepping backward makes the one who didn’t a man.
Put on your big boy pants and do your work. I know nobody has asked this of you since forever at this school. But there is a new sheriff in town.
The sheriff is a near?
And he chose to come here and lead OSU football, unlike his predecessor… who is just getting way too much print… and way too many words written about him here.
I get schadenfreude and confirmation of everything obvious in Riley-ville.
LET. IT. GO.
Loser is wearing red now. Good riddance should be the only words written.
Beating San Jose isn’t gonna prove jack, Riley could beat them. Beat Stanford soundly and I will believe. And we should I still think we win 8 games.
Riley would not beat them. We’ve been over this already.
If Riley was still here, we would be maybe 1-1, likely 0-2. And we would be facing a SJSU team who had no QB questions because they would run over Mark Banker’s D with their shiny new QB named Seth Collins.
Don’t think that wouldn’t happen. The personnel on this team are no different than when Riley ditched us except that GA managed to poach some beef for the trenches, a long-standing complaint of anything Riley-related.
And we will get to see them play… another Riley-fail.
San Jose was gonna use him as a wr dipshit
try again
Incorrect, San Jose was the only other school that offered as a QB.
And we would be the only dissenting voices in Beaverdom. For whatever reason Riley has some Rasputin effect on the populace. It makes me think the nicest guy in football is not only a bad coach, but he might be evil incarnate that nobody can see.
Wow! This glasses guy on ESPN SC is just terrible. Neil Everett? Wow! Just wow!
Unlike you idiots I’m not worried about media perceptions or uniform combinations other than that’s how I know u are a fair weather fan. I care about wins, that’s all and I’m not impressed with the upgrade. Looks like the same crap and we look worse with recruiting. Sugar coat all u want with 4 star visits but we need commitments not free visits, seen that show before. We got 2 and and few 3 stars coming in that’s no different in my opinion.
Since 1970 sucka! You can fuck your fairweather comment in the earhole.
Oh! Sorry. I didn’t jump on the bandwagon three years earlier… because I was four… and living overseas.
Something about fair weather was said. I would like that completely fucked up individual to present.
If all you are concerned with is wins, then why are you riding MR’s jock? Because if that’s your litmus test, GA has already exceeded MR, ie beat a FCS team at home to open the season, something Ol’ Smiley couldn’t do, twice.
Riley had lost 12 out of his last 14 conference games prior to his departure. That, my friends, is about as bad as it gets.
Yes… thank you for no PI against CU, Mr. Ref. And thank you Todd Graham.
That’s a short, sad list of thank yous.
Seth Collins isn’t a pac 12 QB. That’s why he wasnt recruited to play that position. Andersen is desperate to institute his system so apparently he is our best option now
You are now making sense.
I agree.
That’s the dearth of talent we are facing. Do you now get that? Do you know who is directly responsible for that very reality?
I guess we would have Pensyl if Riley remained. But Riley ditched OSU and took Pensyl with him because he was an awesome recruit.
That’s how the world works.
Well better than anybody we got so maybe andersen should have kept him wizard
Dude! You would fire that kid in high school considering your logic here. You’re not even a hot mess.
Get it together.
Your savior is jerry Pettibone in utah colors. Next coach please.
What the fuck are you talking about? Savior? Is that what you think a fucking football coach should be? Are you that lost?
Sign on in two years and make us forget your blind ambivalence. Ask yourself who fucked OSU in the rear. Then ask yourself who chose to come to OSU despite the lack of an airport. Go ask those really really really tough questions. It’s not like we had a choice about Bikey staying or not… if you’re going to believe his words.
Or… he could just be a liar and not the nicest guy in the world. If that’s the case, then I need for you to bring evidence against him that he is in fact a liar who tucked tail. Otherwise, he’s just a coach who ditched OSU.
Plain as day.
Sorry…
*ask yourself who fucked OSU in the rear twice.
I feel like I’m trying to convince a beaten woman that beatings are not love.
Yes, that is a much more serious topic. And yes, I have had to try and then let “professionals” take over.
But the victimisation feels the same.
Mike Riley would have lost to Weber State.
Right?
How is this some forgotten thing?
What the freak are you smoking? Talk to cj about quitting, man. Andersen has coaching ability, not a magic wand.
Oh no Jack is here this thread is ruined.
Only in America….
I need someone who can take this thread to “cathartic.”
Junior and the rehashes aren’t going to cut it. Hell, Duck fan cuts closer to the bone than Pollyanna does. Where are you Boner? Come save me from the sheeple.
This was my favorite part of the evening.

Thanks Jack!
Now having to play full album, really enjoying it…
It’s one of my favorites.
Actually… this is a compilation of good stuff. Bumpin’ is the album of which I speak as being one of my favorites.
nm… I see it jumps to the album on the second song.
OT – don’t some of these IMG academy kids come up to Nike camps:
http://www.nytimes.com/2015/09/19/sports/football/high-school-football-inc.html?_r=0
That is disgusting.
Marv Marinovich approved.
Isn’t it? QB on his third HS (such as it is), thrown for 108 TDs on his way to college…flying from Fla to New Jersey to play HS football?!?
After the near and impending decline of college football, I wondered how far behind would be high school football. Seeing HS teams getting televised, U Texas helping out by having its own network and televising games featuring players it is recruiting, etc. it seemed like it had “next.”
Good fuck, can’t kids go to school and just play a game within the leagues within the communities within which the reside?!?
Hmmm… who knew wariness was a word?
Miki Fifita went to IMG
That’s right. He was originally from Hawai’i but recruited to there for his senior year.
I believe I wrote about this exact same phenomenon occurring within the locker room. From the outside, Collins seems like a diva/selfish/cancer.
I agree that anytime a new coach is hired, it’s going to take some time to get everyone on the same page.
The game this week should be a good test. It’s a game that OSU should win easily, but will they? I’ll be watching for player reactions when things aren’t going their way. If they’re tuning out the coach and moping around, this week could be where the wheels fall completely off.
If the Beavs somehow lose this game, I’m not sure they’ll have enough this year to finish higher in conference than WSU or Colorado. Which, in all reality is where they’ve been the past few years, the basement.
Good coaches can turn things around quickly if the team is unified. Let’s hope this team can overcome Collins, the play calling, and the blinding lack of Pac12 caliber talent on the roster.
Which, in all reality is where they’ve been the past few years, the basement.
We were dead last in the north last year. We won zero games against anyone in our division. And if we didn’t play CU and barely beat them, we would have just been the dregs of the conference. So it’s not in all reality. it’s just reality.
I’m also starting to wonder if it’s the play calling. I see the fades (3 of them) thrown to Villamin, and on each he was pressed while Bolden’s DB was ten yards off the LoS. Yet SC locked onto the left side and ignored the quick hitch to the right. So I don’t know if that was the call or if it’s just poor decisions made by a QB who needs more reps.
13 other things to love about OSU regardless of the quality of current football play:
http://www.oregonlive.com/living/index.ssf/2015/09/13_reasons_to_love_oregon_stat.html#0
This was a bit more creative than I expected from OLive, which has been descending at a rapidly increasing rate the past few years. I appreciated the nod to longer-term accomplishments of people associated with the university. Including men and women’s basketball would have been appropriate and/or acknowledging the strength of coaching across the board.
Undeterred by Michigan loss is right. Andersen has been through this before. He’s not worried.
They list two Playmate of the Year ‘models,’ yet don’t list Kendra Sutherland, maybe it was the recent conviction?
#10….enough said
I can’t get past #2… where I get to read about the Pac 10 becoming the Pac 12… and thinking that two Utah football players who were shot last week makes Corvallis seem like a picnic on a sunny day.
Times sure have changed for the better around weed. Who would’ve thought a mainstream newpaper would have a helpful Q&A about pot and links to helpful videos on strains and how to roll a J?
Anyone have a list of who’ll be visiting this weekend? The Oregonian has the following headline “Oregon State Beavers hosting huge football, basketball recruiting weekend” but the story hangs up for me and I can’t see who all will be visiting.
Again… I can’t get past #2. The Oregonian is almost dead. I guess it was inevitable.
Christian Wallace (DB, Sealy, TX)
Shurod Thompson (DB, Brentwood, CA)
Artavis Pierce (RB, Florida, Committed)
Trevon Bradford (WR, Oregon City, Committed)
John Bates (TE, Lebanon, Committed)
Joah Robinett (DL, San Marcos, Committed)
Matt Struck (QB – Central Point)
Moustapha Toure (OT – Tualatin)
Isaiah Hodgins (WR, Walnut Creek, CA, 2017)
Daniel Green (LB, Portland, 2017)
Chance La Cpapelle (QB, Sacramento, 2017)
Alex Cook (WR/S, Sacramento, 2017)
Trevaughn Mullen (QB, Hesperia, CA, 2017)
Hoops
Dontay Bassett
Josh Conley
Marquell Fraser
Wow… Bassett with Konewould be an outstanding front court. And Conley and Fraser are some really long perimeter players, like Dinwiddie and Anderson long.
Put Jaquori with those four, and it’s hard to say it’s not another top 10 class. Someone said they thought he was going Utah, though. I think he might go Wiscy despite knowing Bo is only good for maybe one more year.
I ain’t counting chickens. But there is a lot of very good skill that complements our roster nicely.
FYI, Kone visits the weekend of the Stanford game
Gut feeling is Jaquori will go to Utah.
I had a list compiled on twitter, but I should have put it here. Would have made it easier for the Oregonian and Blitz to take the list and call it their own.
Football:
Christian Wallace (2016)DB/ATH
Shurod Thompson (2016)DB
Joah Robinette(2016)DE
Artavis Pierce(2016)RB
Treyvon Bradford(2016)WR
John Bates(2016)TE
Matt Struck(2016)QB
Moustapha Toure(2016)OL (Local kid)
Chance LaChapelle(2017)QB
Alex Cook(2017)WR
Trevaughn Mullen(2017)QB
Isaiah Hodgins(2017)WR
Daniel Greene(2017)LB (local kid from Madison HS in Portland)
Basketball:
Dontay Bassett(2016)PF
Marquell Fraser(2016)PG
Josh Conley(2015)SF
I think that’s everybody I had so far. A couple of those you won’t see on the Oregonian or on Blitz (until they see this post)
What’s up with Josh Conley? Possible walk on? Can’t imagine a scholarship as we’re full but who knows.
Probably reclassifying to 2016 and prepping. He’s a tweener 2/3. So he was overlooked. But he can stroke it.
I was surprised to see they were still looking at a 2015 guy too. Could still potentially have Tres walk-on to open up a spot, or maye what Jack said about reclassifying.
Maybe the honeymoon phase is over, for GA.
Here’s a guy who took a job on short notice… probably had no idea how bad the roster had been depleted, how weak the players had been allowed to become, what a gee-golly attitude permeated the locker room….Then he landed in Corvallis. Welcome to Smiley World GA.
OK, maybe there is some grumbling in the locker room. I imagine some players don’t like having to put in the work, the effort. Football isn’t for everyone. Expectations are a bitch. Generally when expectations are put in place, the cream will rise and the rest will settle.
No more scholarship + tenure equating to playing time.
Players who make plays will now see playing time. Novel concept at VFC. Shaking up the status quo isn’t always easy. Time for scholarship players to earn their scholarship, or take a seat.
I am curious though how long it will take to, as Scotty put it, wash the stink of Riles off the team. GA players and a new culture will take time, at least now there is hope.
I don’t think there ever was a honeymoon. GA came in and got whined at about his first recruiting class by people who were always just hunky dory with what Bikey did every year.
Pollyanna is proving to be the foul-weathered fan. But we all knew this years ago.
Exactly. The Michigan game was always an L on the schedule. The only question was whether or not the team would be competitive, and they were for one quarter before shitting the bed. If Riley was still coaching the Beavers, it would have been 45-0 with him alternating QBs every down a la Wisconsin in 2011.
If the Beavers play like garbage tomorrow, then I’ll have some real concerns. It would also give legitimacy to many of those who picked the Beavers to finish 2-10 as San Jose is the weakest team left on the schedule.
Idk… Wazzu isn’t looking so hot right now. They can’t beat a 1AA school at home (where have I heard that before?), but they can go to New Jersey and beat a team in total turmoil with half their players suspended… barely.
And we’ll have to see how CU does against CSU and Nicholls State before we get excited about them beating UMass.
Crap!
2011 at Wiscy was just crap. I’ll take 1000 Michigan games over that one Wiscy game. That was just so embarrassing on such a national scale.
Add the Penn St game, too.
And the Cincy game.
Ugh!
And Louisville…
And taking the Pac 10/12 victory virginity from Boise State, Sac State, and EWU like some past-her prime pro.”Happy to be your first honey, don’t worry, I ain’t going to hurt you. This is going to feel good!…..Now go on home, I have a big-time program waiting outside I’m going to have to roll over for!”
And Minnesota……..LOL.
We’re gonna kick Minnesotas ass! Better start excepting that now goph
Locker room chemistry can be tricky with a young team. They need to be carefull not to take the “favored” role too seriously. I’ll give Gary a call and ask if he would like me swing by address the team. I could bust out the pre-game remarks that I used for; Pacific, N. Texas and Montana. Priceless!! JB
What do the Hopkins have to say about the “locker room chemistry”??
There’s a nerd joke in here somewhere.
Holy shit, what’s with all the whining? They had a bad 2nd half offensively on the road and the D got stuck on the field for the remainder of the game. The crazy shit at the end of the first half was completely deflating and sucked all the energy out even though it was flukey. However, they are young and will REMEMBER that feeling and learn to bounce back from shit. Relax…..
It’s really disappointing that Poreski either wasn’t taught or didnt listen to the coaches that if a snap goes over your head when punting near your own end zone, that if can recover it, simply run into the end zone and take the safety. Isn’t this one of the top 5 rules of punting? If only we had Bruce Read…????
I think punters are generally idiots in that regard. Easy to blame him on being an Aussie, but I have seen worse……..in person.
http://weknowmemes.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/aussie-logic.jpg
Should have had Katz back there. He knows how to kick a ball into the end zone…
Ah yes.
Are you saying if we had a dedicated ST coach we would have a punter who knows how to kick it backwards?
He’s Australian mate!
I think some of the posters here forgot to take their Lithium (*pssst* its for bi-polar disorder).
Listen, no one with any brains thought this was going to be easy. Outside of the marginal success of Biley OSU has a LONG, LOOOOOOONG tradition of, shall we say, under-performing. Did anyone truly think GA was going to come in and take a bunch of underclassman to the pinnacle in one off season? I doubt very much Gary Anderson or any of his staff thought that. I doubt after one tough game and some rumblings in the locker room if hes ready to throw in the towel.
Like Tlingit said, RELAX. Settle in, its going to be several season before we really know what kind of coach he is, if he can recruit, if he can build a program, and if he decides to stay after that. Getting your knickers twisted before that is kind of pointless if you ask me.
Right on….
What is cool to see is folks now ready to CRITICIZE. We needed WAY more of that during the latter part of Riley’s career here. And I am sure GA is not surprised or intimidated in any way. its part of the job.
Sit back, grit yer teeth, and try to enjoy the ride. There will be bumps!
Crazybeavs>Angrybeavs for the moment
This all appears to be media driven. PO isn’t whining about GA… quite the opposite. I don’t care what the pay sites are doing.
It’s just a couple overpaid dimwits making noise because they can. As far as practice this week goes, of course the team is spent. We just got beat down. Get back up and rub some dirt on it.
#clickbait
Here we go… OT but not OT.
http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/13660781/urban-meyer-tim-tebow-aaron-hernandez-percy-harvin-rise-fall-florida-gators
Thanks for the list of visitors Beavblazer and whatever.
I’d like the visitors list better if there were a few more linemen sprinkled in there. Seems like bringing in linemen has always been difficult for the Beavs. Hopefully this too will become easier over the next couple of years.
Just basing this on what was Tweeted I got the feeling that Bassett was very pleased when he got the offer from Florida. Here’s hoping Tinkle and the coaching staff can work some magic and get the kid to think that Corvallis is where he needs/wants to be.
Hopefully Donovan leaving Florida for the NBA will change things down there. I don’t even know anything about their new HC, Mike White, other than he had a pretty good record at LaTech
His father is the AD at Duke. He’s an up-and-comer.
I’m wondering if any of the Poly lineman they were recruiting heavily this summer are still planning to visit?
Eletise committed to Arizona. He still pays attention to OSU’s games, but last I checked, he didn’t have any visits planned. I have a sneaking suspicion he’s not entirely out of the picture and will still visit.
Auwae committed to UCLA, but at the time said he still planned to take some official visits, and the Beavs were high on his list. I think he visits as well.
Herbig, committed to Stanford. Seems solid with them and I wouldn’t expect any chance of him flipping.
Mauigoa, when I last heard anything about him, it was down to OSU and WSU. Not sure if he will take any official visits, since coming over from America Samoa is no small trip, and he was just here back in June.
A DT has been added to the offer list.

Tony the Bull. Fantastic.
Anyone following the Rutgers situation? Basically their coach was fined and suspended for trying to get a professor to change an athlete’s grade. The course is suspected to be Dance Appreciation, seriously.

I don’t usually care what people name their kids. That’s their perogative. But Nadir? Do his parents know what that word means?
Coincidentally fitting I suppose?
Maybe they were at a low point in the marriage?
Makes me wonder why there are no kids named Oops.
I know a young guy whose name Erro and his middle initial is R.

Time for another first for OSU.
0-10 as a favorite since 2008 after a game with less than 18 1st downs.
Sounds more like a Biley thing to lose as a favorite.
GA is 1-0 as a favorite since 2015 :)
That’s 0-10 ATS.
So it will be interesting to see how we bounce back today.

Georgia State’s head coach is 2-24.
How is Georgia State such a mess with all the talent in that area?
Their football program is something like six years old, and two or three years of that have been on the FBS level. The Sun Belt is pretty much a joke with one or two good teams every year. An equivalent would be if the Big Sky moved up to FBS as a whole. EWU and Montana would be decent, but the rest are still FCS schools.
A team at the level of the Ducks should be ashamed and embarrassed scheduling Georgia State. Especially in week 3. Week 1 you could understand it a little more. I’d drop them in the polls even if they win by 70 just for the cowardly scheduling. This seems like a game to run up their stats so they’re in the top 10 offensively the rest of the year.
It’s a body bag game. I think the only reason the Sun Belt moved up was to get the big payouts like this (from mostly SEC schools). SO the SEC schedules one Sun Belt team and one FCS team to go along with their “most difficult ever” eight game conference schedules. And one of those usually gets played in game 11.
The SEC deserves two cupcakes since their conference is so hard and just teams beating up on one another. /sarc
I wonder what it will take to change that awful narrative.
Maybe if we had a playoff in college football…?
fwiw – Eastern Washington is killing Montana State. Seems their quarterback only needs to pitch to Cooper Kupp. Beau Baldwin appears to know how to spot talent and I can’t imagine that CK didn’t have other offers.
They tackle pretty well.
Angry: Is it being asserted that there are one or more prima donnas on the team?
I don’t think so. Just a low energy practice for whatever reason — I’m reading it as disgruntled dudes who are jet lagged.
Collins saying he only needs to bring energy on Saturday fits with his growing reputation as a prima dona, though without the exact quote it’s hard to say for sure.
Thanks Angry
None of this is surprising, Anderson has a roster full of Riley’s players. They really do not fit what Anderson wants to do and frankly ideally Anderson will get enough of them to leave the program that he can fill a full 25 man class next year with the idea of building for 2017. Year 3 is about as early as you can reasonably expect much success when you change both your offensive and defensive systems and go with a frosh QB.
Run for four yards… incomplete pass… incomplete pass… bad punt.
D getting gashed…
Where have I seen this before?
Same could be said of us last week in the second half, I guess… with the D getting run over instead of gashed. But not giving up the big plays one after the other does give me hope.
Where did the other thread go this morning? It was up and then vanished :(
It was getting filled up with random junk too far ahead of game time. In the future I need to put them up like an hour before kickoff. Lesson learned.
Normally I don’t care, but since game threads get 300-500 comments usually it’s not good.
Riley down 7-0
From the boneyard:
ElPresidente10 said… (original post)Can’t way to see the fire Mike Riley thread by halftime.
Why wait that long? ????
Nebraska throwing a random deep bomb on 3rd down. Not setup by play action or anything. Just a typical Riley/Langsdorf prayer
Yay for 17 yard punts!
Negative.
Make that a 15-yarder.
Mark Banker defense as sharp as expected!
For anyone still wanting to give GA and staff a pass for last week. UNLV led by a first year coach straight outta high school put up a better performance in the big house than the beavs last week. Over 100 yards more in total offense than we put up and kept Michigan under 400 on d.
After further review last week was still gutless .
No pass given. But Michigan did have their second stringers in by the 2nd quarter.
Wow… sunny day is calling. This game will be out of hand soon if not already.
Aaaand… PF for canning the C on the PAT.
Looks like it’s going to get ugly quickly as well.
Never seen a “roughing the snapper” on an extra point before… I love Riley (being at Nebraska) :)
You gotta have a special teams coach to have that shit. Some day…
14-0 Hurricanes
lolol
“Nebraska on the flat side, not emotionally ready to play”
NO WAY!!!! :D
The hell you say.
This thread will make for interesting reading
http://nebraska.247sports.com/Board/142/Contents/LIVE-GAME-THREAD-Nebraska-vs-Miami-39540561?Page=5
I just hope Vegas doesn’t catch on to Biley. Miami -3 and Byu +5 yes please!
Nebraska looks so much like Oregon State
Their colors suck, but they do have better unis.
My thought as well. Can’t help but watch this thrashing. Starting to wonder if Riley lasts into season two. The Nebraska faithful are starting to wrap their minds around the dark cloud settling upon them. And I like Miami cheerleaders.
From husker board:
“Oh Riley my man, you have no idea how Nebraska fans can get.
You don’t want to know sir, Make some adjustments and start performing. For the love of your sanity.”
#poorthreateningbastards
Gosh Nebraska is emulating so many poor traits. Roughing the snapper? Coming out flat and uninspired? D getting shred up? Man I’m sorry for Nebraska.
@Calibeav honestly I’m not giving him a pass but I think we understand and they have to keep improving. Plus UNLV would probably beat us right now.
I agree UNLV would probably beat us right now. That’s the issue!! We couldn’t even say that under Biley!
This year I bet we could…
Some of you guys need to learn some patience, Anderson made some tough (but needed decisions) that likely hurt their chances in 2015 but will pay off long term. Just my opinion.
I still think they can get to 6 wins.
Are you kidding me?! NO game was a safe win under Biley! Sac State? EWU? Wulff’s putrid WSU squad?
I’m glad that we didn’t play more southern teams in the Biley era.
On defense: missed tackles, no pressure on the QB, lots of PI, and blown coverage all over the secondary.
On offense: false starts, extra players breaking the huddle, and holding.
On special teams: terrible punting
Pretty sure I’ve seen this story somewhere before…..
No matter what happens today and the next 10 games at least Riley is wearing red now….Thank you Nebraska for being stupid.
Elephant in the room… While It’s great to see confirmation that Biley is who we thought they were….. What I saw in Ann Arbor and what I expect we see today isn’t going to be much better. Might it take time? Yes … But from a preparation execution and game scheming perpsective we have a long way to go.
That’s fine. We know it’s a transition year and Biles didn’t exactly leave talent everywhere.
I used to think Biley was 70% of the problem, but after seeing them have the same exact stupid problems in a program with more resources and talent, I’m upping that to 90%+
Oregon media will spin it as Nebraska “having to adjust to Riley’s complex pro-offense,” and say that “takes time.” They so far have shown little patience with Andersen, who must also transition a team with very inexperienced QBs to boot….
I used to think Riley might make it three years just because its often so hard for an Administration to acknowledge and correct its own poor decision. Now I doubt he’ll see next spring camp.
Couldn’t disagree more. Nothing about last week’s game changed my view that Anderson will do more in Corvallis than Riley ever did.
agreed. flushing the Riley out of this program will take some time and bringing in his kind of recruits. With so few upperclassmen it should only take a year or two. Nebraska has fully embraced the Riley softness from day 1. Popsicle’s and slip n slides for everyone.
I think it’s more of a douching than a flushing.
Respect the process.
Andersen had that on their clothing as a motto. At least he could see the troubles coming.
Riley’s motto: Respect the hip hip
Respect the kidney.
Respect the Wrigley’s
Respect the player knocking up your daughter
OUCH low blow
Respect the bicycle
Respect the mid-season droopy eye.
Respect the L
Respect the false start
Respect the backwards punt
Respect the abandonment of the run game
Respect your qb throwing 50-60 times a game
Respect getting blown out against top 25 teams on the road
Respect finding the identity
Andersen may not succeed here, though I’m not writing him off yet at all, but it’s clear that keeping Riley would have been a disaster. At least by having Andersen we have potential to get better.
dude. it has been all of two games
It’s true, though. Success is not guaranteed under Andersen, but failure sure was under Riley
It’s not meant to be an overreaction, it’s just a statement of fact.
Andersen might fail, but Riley would have been a sure failure.
Nebby special teams incurring penalties I’ve never seen or heard of before
Miami is kicking the shit out of Nebraska…. oh, the sweet schadenfreude.
Can’t relax yet… Golden isn’t on the hot seat for nothing
I can’t relate on any level to the dudes bashing Gary Andersen. Makes zero logical sense, and he has showed a lot more potential [than Riley] in every facet of the game after just 2 games, not to mention intangibles like accountability and all that. Hilarious stuff.
Yeah… I don’t understand what basis they have for anything good or bad. I see the D is immeasurably better than a Banker D. But they would have been run over last week just like they were, probably worse.
Nebraska banned me from their forum again, after just 1 post. All I said was I tried to warn them during the off season. Banned. Quite a sensitive bunch over there. I used to think they were okay, but they are low lifes who can’t handle the truth.
Did the same, wonder if I got banned too, off to take a look
All my predictions are gone, too. I predicted BYU and Miami loses and 7 wins (8 if things went perfectly but said he’d lose them a game single-handedly botching the clock), and they laughed at me. I’m now thinking 7 wins was being generous.
Not only did they ban me, but they deleted everything.
that is some insane level of censorship. what is wrong with people.
Maybe it’s run by the Chinese.
I understand. Having Biley coach your team makes you kinda pissy
Or is it kinda prissy?
go troll their fb page

Beaver troll thanks husker board for taking Riley off our hands, and husker responds that Riley is a “much better” coach than Andersen.
HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAA such denial, such humor, so juicy
Maybe he means coaching how to ride a bicycle.
I want to say Andersen has something Riley doesn’t: An 11-win season
But why poke at corn

I’m just surprised they made a first down

Wow, they are into the “hope phase” after just 2 games.
“Cornhuskers are struggling with game management.” Huh, whodathunkit?
Another timeout error lol.
And now an INT
What really pissed me off about Banker was in interviews with Nebraska media he blamed his former OSU players for his poor performance (especially against the Ducks). Can’t believe how he threw his former players under the bus like that. And it’s obviously not true.
The fact that obviously he and Riley actually believe that’s true about their offense and defensive schemes shows how delusional they are.
Even if that’s true, how about adapting your system to the talent level you have? That’s what good coaches do. They don’t repeatedly fail and then blame the players. Disgusting.
http://www.omaha.com/huskers/new-nu-defensive-coordinator-banker-excited-to-test-defense-in/article_4bd817e7-8135-5001-b3d0-9ff839c42848.html
Thanks for finally admitting you are a shitty recruiter Banker. Oh, you have average talent? Recruit and sign better talent. Nice try asshat
Banker slogan: Players derp plays, Coaches win games
When Riley left, I actually wanted to see him do well at Neb. Now, the more asshole quotes I see from them, the more I want them to lose.
Time is the great neutralizer those guys are showing their true colors. Anyone perspicacious saw through it while they were at OSU.

“Banker is garbage. How he has a job as a coach is astonishing. It’s like a make a wish dream for him but he gets paid by the truck loads.”
We should make a game: Husker Quote or Beaver Quote?
I think it is safe to say Nebraska has found their identity after 2-1/2 games
Losers
Riley fired after 3 games?
But then the fun ends :(
I like Riley over there, it’s like I have two seasons rolled into one
Totally. I wouldn’t miss a season of this dumpster fire for anything.
It’s kind of nice. You can root for a different team each week, but there’s a nice level of detachment that’s calming
Agreed, I love watching NE games and having nothing on the line. It’s house money and we’re winning with it…
LOL Husker D serving up another Banker special – 4 plays, 75 yards, 1:10 TD
Miami finds Langsdork predictable, too. They are jumping every play.
Are they still using nearly the entire play clock before snapping the ball? Always nice for the defense…
Pelini was a good coach and about the best they can do.
NE has delusions of grandeur. There are no more back to back titles — those days are like 30 years gone and not coming back. They had their once in school history run and it’s over. Yet they cling to it. They should have just kept Pelini; he was so clearly a superior coach.
Spot on. Same as husky fan. Substitute Tom Osborne with Don James
What’s funny is that most of Nebraska’s offense is coming from QB scrambles. Pelini left Riley with a mobile quarterback who can make plays. As Riley gets his offense installed, that’s going to vanish. Hope the huskers like statues and meaningless passing stats!
And NFL clipboard holders as their claim to fame.
Yep, there’s still guys from Pelini so shit’s going to get real once all of them are gone and they are left with 100% Riley recruits. #TPB
Uh oh, Silverstream just posted on 247.
Banned yet? YoungOrst, you get banned?
Not yet
I have posted a couple of “we told you so” comments about MR and crew. Haven’t been banned yet (but won’t be surprised if banned soon). Most Husker fans on the 247 board seem to be deep in denial, refusing to believe what their eyes (and OSU fans) are telling them. Amazing how quickly Riley and Banker are being exposed….
Callahan will be considered a God in Lincoln after ol’ Mike is done.
Frank Solich does not approve
NU board:
“Too easy.”
“Unbelievably.”
“Again and again that secondary and the front five!!”
Sounds so familiar, and sounds so much better coming from the great corn belt…
Again, good job leaving your best coach *Rod Perry* out of your good old boys club in the corn.
UNLV wasn’t too, too terrible against Michigan today. Seumalo had a better day than Riley.
Yep, one carry for 2 yards on first down. Time for play action!!!!!
Nebraska Football: A long and proud tradition of losing football under Mike Riley. From 9 wins being a bad season to probably missing a shit bowl. If he does make a Spud Bowl be sure to ink him to a lifetime deal. As Schnell so eloquently put it: “Mike Riley isn’t going anywhere.”
Be careful what you wish for…

what a great pick!
“MR and company inherited the players they got. That’s not their fault. Got to upgrade talent big time
LOL … He inherited a team with proven talent. A winning team. Now he is putting his mediocrity stamp on it….
The same players that won nine games last year with a decent coach?
Riley’s love affair with the pass is alive and well. Remember that lip service paid to running the ball? Lol
Silverstream’s post just got deleted on 247. It was great. They probably banned him entirely…
Nice someone quoted it:
silverstream055 said… (original post)
Agreed. Much respect to Nebraska for scheduling out-of-conference games against tough teams such as BYU and Miami. Nebraska has indeed earned a reputation, over many years, for being a great program that competes — and wins — the right way. Both are important: (1) competing the right way; and (2) winning. Mike Riley will do okay on #1. But probably not so much on #2 (as you are already starting to see).
So, please watch Mike Riley at the post-game press conference following today’s bad loss to Miami. Be on the lookout for awkward and inappropriate smiles, failure of MR to hold himself and his staff accountable, and cliches about “finding our identity”, the need to “get better every week”, and “lots of positives, but also lots to work on.”. In Corvallis, we got tired of seeing this same MR schtick over and over again after poor performances. I’m guessing Nebraska fans will be much less patient than we were with MR’s happy talk, and MR’s failure to hold himself and his staff accountable for poor performances such as what you saw today against Miami….
Whats the point of having an open fan forum if you are going to censor stuff you just don’t like because it doesn’t fit your vision? There is no language, there is no gloating or anything inappropriate in that post in any way. Could they really have that many Biley apologists in Lincoln already?
I guess some people are easily offended by hearing the painful truth.
The truth hurts, as they say
Surprised they can hear anything with their heads stuck in the sand.
Facist media
The point I think is to foster a narrow view that doesn’t reflect reality. People like to lie to themselves because it requires less change, growth, action….
Most Husker fans on their gameday board still seem to be in denial. But one longtime Husker fan posted this response to the prediction that MR would flash his trademark awkward/inappropriate smile after today’s embarrassing loss to Miami:
“That goofy laugh after the BYU loss didn’t set well with this guy.”
These guys have the hamster wheel spinning. Bo’s recruits are better than anything Riley will land. Riley might land recruits better suited for a pro offense, that much is true, but he won’t get higher ceiling talent.
Michael Bruntz said… (original post)
Husker fans need to stick with and support coach Riley. Don’t judge the meals he makes with Bo Pelini’s groceries. #futureisbright #GBR

Thank You. People should realize the dumpster fire Bo left behind.
If they think 9+ wins a year is a dumpster fire…. Ohhhh boy #TPB
they’ll be ready to welcome back 9 win red faced screamer Pelini with open arms after 7 win RiLLLLey stamps his signature on their program
Riley won’t get 7 wins this year. With his deficiencies he has his work cut out to get to 6. I’d say its about 50/50 between 5 or 6 wins. Easy division but Riley is that bad against even mediocre competition. They will be in a few more games that will all fall as losses due to his unique abilities as an aging dinosaur coach. His descent will continue until he is fired. This downward spiral began with the lifetime deal at OSU and the karma payback for that is a serious bitch. It only ends when he is fired.
Continual nine win seasons are a dumpster fire? What week a smiley 6 win season?
Miami with airplane streamers saying to fire Al Golden. Maybe Huskers will stick a “Fire Me” streamer to Riley’s bike after this game
And there’s the riles quote… Team still trying to find it’s identity.
here’s a good page to go troll
https://www.facebook.com/Huskers-for-Mike-Riley-734511559961656/timeline/
Hey it’s 4th quarter down 4 scores. Riley can finally justify throwing every down he must be in heaven
Game thread kick the bucket? Fuck Mike Bikey, it’s BEAVER time boys! (and the few women on here). OOOOOOOOOOOOOO SSSSSSSSSSSS UUUUUUUUUUUUUU Oregon State FUCK YOU TOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Announcers saying Nebraska is an an improvement for Riley because they have better facilities, more passionate fans, more money involved with the program. But from recruiting standpoint, he’ll have the same issues at Nebraska as he had at Oregon State. Don’t tell husker fans. They’ll only hear better, more, more then plug their ears.
Chip Kelly is the coach they need for the things they want (running QB, dominance at nearly any costs).
Kelly may flame out in the NFL/ I think his “me/system over everything” approach may not work in NFL, and his personnel decisions have been very questionable in that he seems to be willing to pay more for different players that are not empirically better than the players he’s replacing. That can’t cut it in the NFL too long, the bottom line is too important.
Refs probably like Riley too. The score without the holding calls would be real bad
They didn’t like him at Oregon State.

NE scores again, 1 possession game now.
Nebby with life
Darn good thing he saved his timeouts!
What the hell kind of kick off was that?! Was that supposed to be an onside?
Pooch.
Miami looking to Coug this.
Riley and his 9 lives…
They may Coug it, or it may be Riley setting up the Charlie Brown in game rug pull.

It looks like Riley is just listening to the closed circuit game call. Every time the shot pans to him, his mic is straight up in the air. 100 yard stare before they started closing the gap.
TWO MINUTE RILEY DRILL TIME
Lol penalty illegal procedure
Love the avatar.
Thanks
Oh shit, Riley is going to be a hero now
You’ve got to be kidding me.
What incredible coaching. Just extraordinary leadership by Coach Riley. Never say die.
Holy shit, what’s happening in Miami?
Not sure what’s funnier, Miami couging it or nebbie fan that will think this shows Mr is a good coach.
Wow, Miami Meltdown! Al Golden is toast
Hahahahahahahahahaha
still 33 seconds and possible overtime to fuck it up. And fuck it up they will
Haven’t seen a Riley 2-minute drill go that well since 2008 Arizona. Win or lose, I’ll give Nebraska some credit: they actually have some fight in them.
Beautiful! Saint Riley will reign in Lincoln forever!!!
I was hoping for such an outcome, a big comeback. A comeback from a down position that only inept coaching could put you in. And now the Saint Riley story will reign forever. -even if they lose in OT
Also, apparently Miami didn’t have the Ranker scouting to hurry up and score with 33 seconds remain.
When the WTF losses happen later, this is the game the Rileypologists will point to forever…if they win this
Lifetime contract here he comes! #TPB
They’re quitting with 33 seconds left?! Golden might be more Riley than Riley! Unbelievable
not to take anything away from Nebraska’s comeback, but that was more about Miami failing to close out the game than it was about Nebraska.
Fucking terrible.
He strikes!

wow….
just fucking lolwow!
I SEE ANOTHER EPIC RILEY LOSS!!!!!
Kick it!
AHAHAHAHAHAHAH, snatched from the jaws of victory.
GLORIOUS!
I will be looking for the post game interviews from both coaches.
Why would you not kick the FG here on 3rd down?
No shit. It’s stupid vs. inept.
Armstrong had a man in the end zone…under threw him. Right read, bad throw.
This Miami coach stinks. Riley has met his match.
Jinx
Not sure who has the worst coaching staff #nebvsmia
first play of OT, pick. HA HA HA HA HA HA. Oh Riles it never fails does it. Turn out the lights, the party’s over. Nebby fans in the stands in their coveralls holding up yellow dildos now crying.
Lucy pulls the football away from Charlie Brown. AGAIN
This is all too predictable
Nice. Nebraska fans get optimism, Riley get the L.
Way to make it exciting and entertain us right up to our game!
Go Beavers!
Sorry Huskers, Lucy Van Riley yoinks the football away again :)
Better get used to it. AAAAAUUUUUGGGGH!!! *THUD*
“Lucy van Riley” classic
Losing to Miami’s poor coaching takes skill
I can’t believe Riley ‘Lucy Van Pelted’ them. Oh wait, yes I can…was there ever any doubt?
I’ll admit I feel a certain amount of pity for Tommy Armstrong. He really did have a good game, but that last throw was simply TERRIBLE.
I’m sure the Husker faithful will find stuff to feel good about after this though.
#poorbastards
Watch them gradually start to care more about moral victories than actual victories. Bileyfication!
They’re already doing it on all the forums.
But they came back from a huge deficit
But they almost won
But he runs a pro style
But he has a St coach
But he bikes to work
But kidney
Kudos to whiskey. His faith in Riley screwing it up never waivered… Not when Nebby pulled ahead late in the BYU game, and not when this game went to overtime. That is dedication and commitment!
it’s like watching someone standing on the railroad tracks with a train approaching. You know what’s going to happen should they decide to not move and tell them so. But for some stupid reason they think the approaching train might derail before it gets to them.
That’s a really poor analogy considering Nebby fans are just the caboose on that derailing train
Penalty yards for Nebraska would be interesting to note if anyone can post them. Having trouble with Flashplayer and Ubuntu over here.
Miami was actaully penalized more
Nebraska 12/98 yards
Miami 13/114 yards
Turnovers are what did Nebraska in. That and Miami going conservative up 30-10
http://espn.go.com/college-football/matchup?gameId=400756923
Nice. Thanks
Hey … demonstrably winnable games, lost. That’s our boy Riley!
Bottom line for the cruising coach,….do just well enough to keep that contract shit moving….
But its still a loss, and at the end of the season, they are gonna look at that.
Hey, all in all, Mike Riley has had a great coaching run, made a lot of money, generated a rep that for whatever strange reason will live on, you wait. So he should pat himself on the back — not bad for a cruising coach.
I can’t tell if anyone mentioned this, but Riley was lucky to be able to take it to overtime. When it was 33-16, they went for two. As I’ve been taught there is no point to going for two when a negative outcome makes it a three score deficit. They got lucky and made the two to make it 33-18, but a miss and they would have never been able to get the ball back three times which they would have needed with a 17 point deficit. Damn, I wish they would have missed that two.
Wow good clock management. Have not seen that around here in a looooooong time
