This could be a rough one.

I don’t see the Beavs being able to stop Booker or Wilson running the ball. The Beavs simply tackle too high and without intensity, though they are carrying some defensive momentum (17 points over 6 quarters is a positive). On the flip side, Utah are a bit overrated — they looked very small and slow vs USC — but they do play with defensive intensity that OSU can’t match. I can see Utah putting up 300 yards on the ground and getting over a handful of sacks if Mitchell is the QB.

The Beavs shot at an upset will be through turnovers and special teams. The mix of Mitchell and Collins is a wildcard, and I don’t know what to expect from that. In the pre-season I thought this was a 50/50 game, but now you have to think Utah by a margin.

35-20, Utah

  1. 42-10. This one gets ugly early, and Utah won’t let off the pedal. Catching a great team coming off a loss, is not to our advantage.

  2. Utah fans have had this one circled all year. They love their halloween night blackout games in salt lake and their fans are crazy. I think Beavs lose big. 48-13

  3. So, we are often told that a team’s biggest improvement comes between games 1 and 2. Will NM shine vs Utah, since it is his #2? Will he even be given the opportunity?

Pre-season I had this game a tossup, but that is back when I figured the Beavs D was gonna be a very bright spot. Even with the 6 quarter streak mentioned by angry, it will take a big, big step forward to hang with the Utes. Grimble has been invisible and the LB’s not what I expected and now with the DB’s banged up (and Strong’s regression) it feels like a long night comin’.

It’ll take flawless special teams, a breakout by NM, and big contributions by Nall, StHC^2 as a RB, and even a dose of Storm to keep things respectable. Too many areas needing improvement, the line which has Beavs as 20-23 pt dogs doesn’t seem too far off right now.

  4. you’re forgetting Utah is coming off their first loss of the year. They will be pissed and out for blood. Utah wins big

  5. Ok, we appeal to the United Nations for disaster relief, the US sends in troops and nukes the place. Our plane spots the mushroom cloud and diverts to Denver, where we are bought beers all around by appreciative, sympathetic Colorado fans….

    …is that classes as a win, or a scratch…?

  6. Beavers win this one…GA is a much better coach than Whitty…Whitty is barely breaking .500 since Utah joined the PAC…don’t understand why this guy gets so much respect.

    • I would rather have the “A” game come against Oregon. It caps off the year giving the team a boost going into the off season, helps recruiting, bragging rights and it makes me happy. Nothing I love more than to see the ducks get beat, and the beavs delivering the beating.

    • They should play the freshman vs the upper classmen. That will show how well the freshman have adapted.

      Freshman
      C – Rakocevic
      PF – Eubanks
      SF – Tinkle
      SG – Thompson
      PG – Bruce

      Bench – Muller, Dahlen, Stangel

      Upperclassmen
      C – Gomis
      PF – Reid
      SF – Olaf
      SG – Duvivier
      PG – Payton

      Bench – LMW, N’Diaye

Then mix up the starters vs the backups.

The most important thing I would look for from the freshman is how well they play defense. It’s hard to come in a start scoring as a freshman so defense should be the top priority. The team played great defense last year. That needs to continue.

      • I’m curious to see if they stick primarly with the zone or if they play more man now that they have the athlete’s to do so. I’m not sure what Tinkle’s typicaly D is.

        • Most coaches like to play man to man. Switch to zone to slow down offenses or to hide deficient defenders. Very rare to find guys like Boeheim who sticks to the zone 100%.

I would say it depends on how the offense goes. The offense was the worst in conference play last year. Using the zone slowed other teams down and kept them in games.

OSU shot .402 from the field last year in conference but they held opponents to .399. Creating a larger margin in those stats would add to the win total. The two leaders last year in FG% difference were Arizona and Utah.

I see no reason why they can’t be just as good on defense this year as they were last year. Any additional scoring should create a few more wins in conference.

          • I like the way you think. Can’t wait for the season to start. NIT or bust this year. Anything less is a disappointment. Anything more is gravy!

          • I hope that is true — as good on defense this year. But there are factors at play. They had to be good on D last year, and knew it. This year they are looking at more firepower, and may let up on D. The coaches need to keep them onto that tough D….

  7. While I like seeing the optimism (some people are even predicting wins this upcoming weekend), I think some of you guys have been drinking a tad too much Beaver Juice lately. What have you guys seen that makes you think we can compete with a Ute team that will attack us offensively in much the same way that Michigan and Stanford did, only with a better running back than either of those teams had? (and it is on the road at Utah, no less)

    • They still have to play the game. Too often we’ve seen really really bad teams beat supposedly really really good teams because one team showed up to play, and the other thought they only had to show up.

Look at Ga Tech beating FSU. That game shouldn’t have been close. Ga Tech has obviously been a terrible team from day one (including cupcake games). But they showed up, and FSU did not.

      • That’s exactly what I was thinking on his first half dozen runs. He waits for blocks to happen before revealing his hand.

That must be intuitive. We’ve seen all our backs crash the line before anything goes anywhere too often in the last decade… except for Quizz… who often had to make moves three yards in the backfield to avoid the D.

  8. Upsets do happen but it doesn’t feel like this game is ripe for one. The Utah team resembles the teams that have dominated the Beav’s defense. There aren’t any signs that the Beavs have fixed the issues they had against Michigan or Stanford or WSU.

To win, the offense would have to lead the way. Jump out to a 21 point lead and try to hold on. And somehow stop Booker.

The defense is allowing 197 rushing per game. Not a good stat.

  9. I’m sure Whittys not happy after Andersen has been stealing his staff members the last couple years. He’s gonna run up the score if they get the chance.

  10. Lenny Dykstra on Colin Cowherd right now. Good stuff

Talking about how he used to blackmail umpires by hiring a private investigator to dig up dirt on them, used steroids during his career, just dropping all sorts nuggets about his career.

He sounds a little off too, possibly drunk.
Sounds like he’s also trying to sell his new book.

  11. The Ute project-a-score robot says:

    Utes —-> 73

    Oregon State ————> 3

UUU humans are aboUt to get Rice-eccccle-d by the original UU of UU! UUUnresponsive and UUUnoriginal Coach Andersen is not exactly a man of the cloth by these calcUlations!

  12. 55-7 Utah. This will be the low point in the season IMO. Utah and their fans will be out for blood because of the whole recruiting battle thing and the perceived jacking of “Respect The Process”.

The Utes will take this 3 plus hours to let out their frustrations from the USC debacle and lather it on thick.

  13. Anyone think we lose a couple of these big recruits, or do you think the coaches explained to them that this year is starting over?

    • Gonna be interesting to see.. I mean it would seem like the recruits shouldn’t have been expecting a top 25 team. But if they are like me they probably didn’t expect the Beavs to be this bad. AND as much as we try to explain it away a lot of the bad play has been precipitated by poor coaching and scheming.

      1. Why do we keep trying to allow Seth to misread 15-20 read option plays per game and not dial up more designed runs??
      2. Why weren’t NM or MM allowed to get reps in blowout games?
      3. Why was the defense playing basically a 5-2-4 against Arizona?
      4. Why didn’t we exploit the same holes Arizona showed they had on the edge with designed stretch run plays?
      5. Why when pressed earlier in the season did we not change our route combos or formation to bunch and or other notorious press coverage beaters?

These are things that some big time recruits may notice and pick up on and could sour them on OSU. BUT GA is so smooth with rhetoric that I predict he is able to keep the class in tact.

        • Yes, but that’s likely a read. And NM probably missed two good ones to keep and run wild to the edge when CU was crashing the inside. On the flip side, Nall actually got the ball.

          • They have corrected a few of these things.. I saw a lot of bunch formations against CU and we ran almost a dozen slant routes by my take. These are both great against press coverage. This didn’t happen against Michigan Zona or Stanford though.

      • At least they have high credibility in turnaround processes. GA at Utah State and Baldwin at Colorado State. Could even argue Sitake with Utah transitioning to the Pac and winning 9 last year

  14. People FOLLOW recrUiting for the Oregon State Beavers? What a world we live in!

For those of you that like well-organized fan bases, nobody and I mean nobody puts on a show like the fans in Sack Lake City!

It’s an SEC – like atmosphere, and at the end of the day the Oregon State Beavers will need to adjust their game plan accordingly or suffer grave consequences!

    • WEAK!!

      Please re-read these

      1. Don’t get reported. There are good trolls and there are bad trolls. You want to be a good troll. Griefing, flaming and generally being an annoying jerk will only get you reported and eventually banned.

      2. . Use a VPN. Let’s be realistic, the things YOU do on the Internet? You should probably be using a VPN anyway. VPNs, or virtual private networks, feed your internet traffic through a third or fourth party, letting you appear to be somewhere where you are not.

      3. Keep it FRESH and engaging. For example don’t post your opinions but instead support your position with stats that are fake but might sound like they could be real. You should not be a permanent troll. Give yourself character and originality that will make you an accepted feature of the community.

You keep taking one step forward and two steps back Larry. Step your game up.

    • So, in the unlikely event that you are an actual Utah fan and not just a troll, do you have any recommendations on where to eat around the area?

  15. There’s a decent chance that Travis Wilson stays in his funk, and I don’t see any indication that the Utah players or coaches mind the OSU coaches. I think Utah will win, but don’t necessarily expect a blowout. 24-13, Utah.

  16. Well, I can at least hope we eliminate the many mistakes and can play a solid game. At least mature some….

That woud be really nice. If we blunder it up its gonna be an even bigger blowout.

  17. Expect OSU to lose by 21-24 points. Trail by 13-17 at the half then Utah eases up some in 2nd half. I’ll go 41-17 Utah and a 24 point loss. Hip Hip. Hopefully SC and NM both show up to make some plays but this team doesn’t have a winner’s mentality as this point to put together 4 quarters of sound football.

  18. At this point I don’t even care if they lose. Sure I’ll be ecstatic if the Beavs win. But I mainly want to see them compete. I want to see good offensive play calling by the coaches. I want to see the players execute those plays cleanly and with confidence. I want to see the defense attack the ball carrier with intensity and control. And I want to see the first guy there actually wrap up and tackle. Come to think of it, if they did all that they might actually win :)

  19. I thought he was joking because when he wrote it, I went and looked him up. I got the idea he was going to aTm. He projects as an OLB/DE. Great size, speed and instincts.

      • you honestly thought your little words would hurt me? You’re less intelligent than I thought. But congrats though internet tough guy

        • What is he even talking about?

What is up with all the moron trolls these days? Remember the good old days when trolls at least made more sense than Hasselhoff with a cheeseburger?

I mean… it’s like we’re being inundated with neon yellow, feather-wrapped turds… likely with several swooshtikas on their persons.

  20. Finally got a chance to watch the Colorado game… I feel like we shot ourselves in the foot, dropped interceptions, dropped passes, bad calls (not our fault), and penalties cost us… I think Mitchell earned the starting gig… I see why he’s getting the reps in practice, he’s a much better game manager they have and best passer…. Just a side note: Doesn’t it seem like recruits are having way better visits than the Riley years? I don’t remember recruits saying how much they liked their visits under Riley ever. It seems like even with the losses, the coaches are selling the program really well

    • My sense is that Lucas is a silent commit and that Garcia picks the Beavs over Utah. Weird that Garcia doesn’t have an offer from the Dawgs.

The other kid from Chandler looks like he could be pretty good with about another 25-30 lbs.

Not only would Opie not be selling the program (he wouldn’t have been able to get these kids to visit in the first place) but he’d tell them to take their time and look around. What a db.

  21. OT: Horowitz not drinking the same kool-aide as Goe and Schnell.

…I don’t sense that Beaver Nation is longing for the days of Riley, who didn’t exactly leave the program in great shape from a talent standpoint …Counting his last two seasons at OSU, Riley-coached teams have lost 15 of their last 18 conference games…Andersen will be given time to turn things around at OSU. Riley is on a different clock at Nebraska.

  22. Wow, what a week. Flip Saunders passes and now this. I am numb. Flip was a very good player at Minnesota and then an Asst. coach for five years. His beautiful twin daughters were members of the dance line for four years and he sat a few rows in front of us at the basketball games. Very sad situation.
Gophers’ Jerry Kill retires after seizures: ‘Don’t have any more energy’
    ESPN? – 2 hours ago

      • No. He had two seizures on Tuesday before practice. Remember he’s had a couple serious seizures on the sideline of games as well. And I think he’s recovered from some kind of cancer as well.

Kill has just had a rough time of it while also getting to do what he loves. It just happens that what he loves is also one of the most stressful and potentially detrimental professions when it comes to health.

      • I think it played a small part, but apparently he had started having seizures again. It explains some of the odd things that have gone on this season. A year with very high expectations has fallen flat, and although we have had an unimaginable amount of injuries, something else seemed to be going on.

  23. I see the multi-sheet puzzle posters that OSU has mailed and put on recruits beds during visits,

Is this to get around NCAA rules about the size of the paper you can give a recruit? twenty 8 x 11 pieces of paper OK, but one 36×20 poster against the rules?

Either way I love it and it’s making impact based on the results

    • I don’t know of any rules of any kind. But I would figure it’s better than folding one large poster seven times and trying to stuff it into a manila folder for transport. And if the kid takes the time to put it back together when he gets home, you might get an idea of where he’s leaning on an in-home.

  24. OT: Taking a new tone on the Andersen era, Eggers admits, “The coaches know better than everybody what is best for their team. That’s a fact. ”

He quotes GA on the youth movement, “The older guys who are the true tough guys, the true competitors, are embracing that youth. The older guys, if they’re not, they’ll get tossed off the bus at some point, because the kids won’t let that happen. “

    http://portlandtribune.com/pt/12-sports/278438-154081-bumps-go-with-rebuild-of-beavers

    • Get over it. He was asked to throw sideline passes to stop time… when the D knew we had to get out of bounds… which is also why SC wasn’t in the game and we weren’t running Nall… in the final series. The second to last series was a little confusing.

He also had four drops (legit drops… not low and behind… in stride and long play potential) which led to multiple attempts that were unnecessary in terms of down and distance. For instance, Bolden catches the post, and it’s not 3rd and long in our own territory after the obligatory and safe run call. Guyton catches the slant on 2nd and long, and it’s not the same situation.

He throws a better ball and manages the game better. He obviously couldn’t make some throws he’s never faced before. But reps are what get you there. What he didn’t do is look at one receiver and force the stupid throw… or just run instead.

I liked the mix of the two, especially with both on the field. It was at least fun to watch. I hope to see more of that if this is to be a lost season.

  25. Almost forgot last week’s picks. Outcast wins the week with his second set of picks. It would have been 5-0, but I can’t allow the Temple pick since it was well after that game started. These are the records with PICK(+/- W/L) differentials.

    Outcast 4-1 C(+14/+3)
    zbeav 4-1 C(+21/+8)
    Numbers 4-1 C(+83/-13)
    Tlingit 4-1 O(+7/+11)
    Beavblazer 3-2 C(+18/+7)
    angry 3-2 O(0/+8)
    rsteve503 3-2 O(0/+14)
    whiskey 3-2 O(+7/+21)
    BlackBandits 3-2 O(+14/+22)
    RanYakumo 2-3 O(0/+11)
    Corey 2-3 O(0/+14)
    oneoldbeav 2-3 O(+4/+11)
    AKBeaver 2-3 O(+7/+18)
    CJ 1-4 O(+4/-4)

    • Time stamp on my post said 12:41 PM on October 22nd. Unless that was a really early kickoff for a Thursday game, I’m relatively certain I posted my picks before any of the games.

      • You’re correct. Count yourself a perfect 5-0.

It was rsteve who threw in a second batch of picks late… post under yours. I think he was going for the negative exposure, which would have given him a worser record for the week.

          • I didn’t bother because I thought that was the intent… it was precisely opposite of what you picked previously. And it was worse (2-3) than what you originally picked.

I just cut-n-pasted everything. Because you had a second post, I cut it and pasted it up the page with the other. But the timestamp remained below with Outcast’s post.

No biggie. It was my admin bad.

  26. Picks for this week (#1 is Thursday, 7:30pm PST):

    1. Nikegon @ ASU
    2. SDSU @ CSU
    3. VaTech @ BC
    4. Texas @ ISU
    5. OSU @ Utah (score tie-break)

  27. Since Utah is going to wear our colors, and since we’re likely going to get rocked anyway, should we just compliment the scene and wear all orange?

  28. Coaches Hot Seat dropping more truth bombs on the quacks:

“‘Assume for a moment in Chip Kelly’s last season that Mark Helfrich or his agent had made it known they were interested in then Oregon OC Mark getting a head coaching job on the FBS level away from Eugene would have ANY FBS program have hired Mark Helfrich?’

The obvious answer to the above question is “NO” but then Oregon football hasn’t been for years in the past or is now about Oregon hiring the best available football coach but rather finding a coach that can be approved by the very tiny Politburo that runs things in Eugene which gets its ass-kissed on any and everything and any academic-type that was interested in doing a study on what it’s like to work in a Major College Athletic Program where people spend most of their waking hours kissing the ass of one man then head to Eugene, Oregon…”

    • The scary thing is they’ve shown they can go out and get good coaches in basketball, baseball, and football when they need to. Once Marky Mark is gone, they’ll have their pick.

Lane Kiffin would be awesome in Eugene.

      • Altman was not their first choice. They swung for the fence with Izzo and Billy Donovan first. We all got a good hearty laugh over that. Whoreton is overrated and rode the coat tails of what Augie Garrido built before bolting for Austin. CK was an FCS unknown that fell in their lap. They can get good coaches there. But not great ones that can name their price. Those types of coaches don’t want to live in Eugene

        • I’m not jumping on this Collin’s is an “asshole” train. You don’t know him, you are a fan basing your views off of a couple interviews and inside “sources” with interviewers. We don’t know his personal life or rather anything about him. Making the assumption he is an asshole is a stretch, same with the statements claiming he’s a crybaby. Crybaby or just emotionally driven? It’ll do you all a flavor to understand not everyone is going to be Mr. Nice-Upstanding-Gentleman. You are judging a book by it’s cover, plain and simple. Kid is 18 give the fucker a break, most people are this way at that age. You are a fan, nothing more. You hold no significance besides yourself being the “asshole” calling a student-athlete rude names behind their backs. You are the same type of people writing death threats to student-athletes who make fatal errors in games.

          /endrant

          • You are so fucking full of shit! Some of us here were calling out Michigan fan after they were issuing death threats to their punter for his end of game fuck up against MSU. Calling someone an asshole compared to issuing death threats isn’t even close to being in the same book. Your rant sucks, is completely off base and has no merit whatsoever. Get over yourself

          • Lane, you don’t know what you’re talking about. It’s not common for a D1 quarterback to consistently act like he does. Maybe some pouting in week one or two is more common, but it comes across like an attitude problem by the end of October. A lot of people in here are connecting sideline behavior, interviews, what he says/doesn’t say, and how he responds to coaching decisions and also how he responds when the team is sucking. Maybe you’re related to Collins or one of his buddies. I don’t know. I’m wondering if you’ve played team sports.

          • No thanks. You might need that tissue to plug your bleeding pussy later. I’m sure you and the rest of your SJW friends can give each other reach arounds while hashtaging on twitter about how words hurt your feelings.

          • I’m waiting for Lane/beavbutter to come back and tell you, you’re ignorant. And Hitler was only give people free showers, so we should “give the fucker a break”

          • Comparing Collins to Hitler. Good one. Hitler.. what.. killed 6 million Jews and others? And Collins simply doesn’t interview to your liking or you don’t like his personality (P.S. you will not always like others just like others won’t like you).

          • Comparing someone who calls someone else a name to someone who makes a death threat is the same thing… in your logic… since your straw man is weird.

Lose the loser handle. I just giggle every time I read it. It’s like you’re a drunk frat boy who only knows how to post because you’re a legacy. You get zero respect, zero love and mucho guffawing at anything you post with that handle.

          • “Comparing Collins to Hitler. Good one”

Yeah. Kinda like comparing someone who calls another an asshole to someone who says you should die in a fucking fire after shanking a punt.

It’s called a euphemism. Not something I’d expect your dumbass to understand. Get back on the short bus where you belong. Just stop

          • Notice I said same “type” of people. As in the overly enthusiastic sports fan that takes it too far. Comprehensive reading skills would help you understand direct comparison with broad, exaggeration.

          • Show the comparisons I made.

I named two assholes that I don’t know. There are a lot more, probably many who did less than Collins. Pointing out assholes /= “comparing them”

          • Weren’t you lecturing someone about lecturing someone about something nobody could prove otherwise?

Because… you know… otherwise is not “objective.”

DUH DUH DUH (danger music commonly known as DUH DUH DUH).

          • Calling Collins an asshole. Check. Pointing out that Hitler was an asshole. Check.

You may not be comparing them person vs. person, but you are saying they are both assholes which is the common denominator. Saying they are both assholes is a similarity which is the definition of comparing. Comparing = pointing out similarities.

          • Are you trying to dismiss your own absurdity because of someone else’s absurdity, which is intentionally so in order to show how absurd your argument is?

          • similarity which is the definition of comparing. Comparing = pointing out similarities.

            Hah. No.

That’s the definition of similarity. You just tried a circular argument.

Comparing is pointing out similarity or differences. Obviously Hitler and Collins have many more differences than similarities. I didn’t get into these because they’re obvious and not the point. Their one glaring similarity is they are/were both assholes. The bigger point was that you don’t have to know someone personally to know they are an asshole.

Before trying to argue maybe next time take a minute to comprehend what’s being said.

          • To compare / comparing : to describe/describing something as similar to something else
You saying Collins is an asshole and Hitler is/was an asshole compares similarities, otherwise you wouldn’t have brought up Hitler (or any other person) in the first place.

“The bigger point was that you don’t have to know someone personally to know they are an asshole.”
You write that as fact. What constitutes an asshole, Angry? Is there a definition? No of course not, that’s all completely subjective.

          • Right, they are both assholes. Ends there. What is so hard?

And of course it’s opinion. That should go without saying.

You saying Collins is an asshole and Hitler is/was an asshole compares similarities, otherwise you wouldn’t have brought up Hitler (or any other person) in the first place.

So you think I was saying Collins killed millions of Jews rather than both were assholes (who I don’t know)? Which was my obvious point.

I’m not seeing your point. I say I don’t know Hitler yet know he is an asshole; you say I am comparing Collins to Hitler; I say no I am just saying they are both assholes I don’t know; you come back and say I’m “comparing” similarities after I tell you I’m pointing out two assholes I don’t know, and you use the definition of a similarity to prove this; then I point that out as circular, and you come back with an incomplete definition of a “comparison” and a moving the goalpost fallacy of “it’s opinion” and subjective and that I say or suggest it was fact [when it was you who interpreted it as fact].

Congrats, now I think you’re an asshole.

          • Okay, you’ve made your points clear enough.. anyone who disagrees with you or opposes your views is an asshole. Still trying to figure out what your definition of an asshole his? General personality? Actions? One action? Explain.

Hitler was regarded as a nice and pleasant person to be around (those that were close to him or got to be close to him) and his people loved him. So what constitutes him as a whole lies solely on political actions.

Now, you declare that I am an asshole simply because I disagree with your public execution of Collins? Surely, I didn’t kill 6 million Jews. You don’t know if I am an “asshole” based solely off our brief exchange. You know nothing about my personality as a whole or the actions I’ve taken in my life. You are using anecdotal evidence here, bud. The same as you declare Collins as an asshole based off limited exposure you’ve seen or heard on media. You are generalizing people and categorizing based off limited exposure. So what constitutes an asshole? Action(s)? Just action(s) you don’t agree with? Personality? A personality you don’t agree with?

          • While I don’t personally like directing personal insults at the SAs, there’s a BIG difference between saying someone’s an asshole from an interview, and making death threats.

More people here have no sense of magnitude these days (like our buttery troll)… Kind of concerning.

          • Seth may or may not be an asshole. But if you watch that Periscope interview you can’t argue that he has a poor attitude. And if you know anything about people you know most of us don’t really like being around people with that kind of attitude, that includes teammates. If a guy like that is in a leadership position on a team you aren’t going find many people that will follow him or bust their ass for him. So he may not be an asshole but he is also not a leader. So defend him all you want, but I’m not going to give a guy like that my support. Now, compare Seth to the Nall interview. Night vs Day! That’s the kind of guy you want leading your team.

          • I think we have more than enough proof – he’s an a-hole. His demeanor, body language – he’s a bust IMO. The scribes are even questioning his leadership now… The photo of the team singing the OSU fight song and he’s standing all by his lonesome. I think he transfers.

          • He’s clearly not happy with the current situation. I think his ego is going to keep him from doing what he needs to be a D1 QB. He might transfer but Whiskey is right, he’ll have the same problem anywhere else, unless he goes back to JC where he’s a medium sized fish in a small pond.

          • Mitchell and others calling him out for showboating during the spring gave me pause. He’s an athlete for sure but I don’t want a kid with a bad attitude even if he switches positions. Most good QBs have innate leadership qualities abve and beyond their athletic ability. This kid’s Ryan Leaf without the arm or football IQ imo. He may decide to stay but no way he’s our QB for the next 3-4 years. He’ll have to really hit rock bottom before a true attitude adjustment.

          • Death threats?

            Fatal errors?

Besides having the worst handle in the history of the world, wtf are you talking about man?

That was a rant? And you supposedly ended it?

    • I know he’s gotta stay positive but until we see it on the field I can’t take Diet Coke’s practice reports too seriously. He said the same shit post bye week and we got crushed by Zona.

  29. Intrasquad scrimmage was much better than last year. The team is playing much more uptempo and much better offensively. A lot of what we’ve heard about the recruits is true, most notably that Stevie Thompson Jr is an extremely smooth, efficient player. He can put up points in bunches. High IQ. Definitely deserving of the 4 stars he has. They still have some work to do being on the same page. Tinkle is a really good all around player. He tried to dunk on too many people and could hurt himself doing that. Eubanks is very athletic, very active around the basket on both ends.

Injuries we see: Gomis has a hand injury, Reid has a foot issue, N’Diaye has a shoulder injury. Frontcourt depth is looking thin unfortunately. Depending on freshman bigs is going to be tough sometimes. Gomis and Reid would REALLY be helpful.

I’d say the starters are going to be Thompson, Duvivier, GPII in the backcourt, Eubanks and Tinkle in the frontcourt, and Olaf-Bruce-Rakocevic-LMW off the bench, in that order. Olaf would probably start if Gomis was in the lineup. We shall see. November 5th vs Western, hope as many people can see as possible.

    • Did you not believe Stevie was a rifleman?

Little Tinks wastes too much energy trying to jump a foot higher than he needs to make a play. In the process, he misses a lot of plays he would see if he played more in control.

Bruce plays at his own pace, and he’s not far off the college game. Until he gets there, he’s going to look off time. That’s a practice thing.

The good news is the young bigs aren’t all elbows and asses. They got some hands and feet and hustle.

  30. Thompson Jr lights it up for 28… Wow I’m liking this squad already. I’m scared that the defense is going to regress as we have a lot of front court injuries(gomeis and Reid) but I think Eubanks is a legit shot blocker and finisher around the rim. Also he’s going to out jump people for boards which is a big plus.
    Starting 5 prediction
    Malcolm Duvivier
    Stephen Thompson Jr.
    Gary Payton ii
    Olaf or tres
    Drew Eubanks

      • He wasn’t playing point guard last night and will more then likely play off the ball this season. But I think he can handle it well enough that if we needed him to he could play point. Also he’s a prolific finisher around the rim. Hits floaters all day long. Kid can flat out score

  31. Noticed that Scout has a 2 star recruit named Marlon Eugene committed to Oregon State as of June 22. Anybody know the story? Is he really a commitment? Beavblazer or Beaverkman or anyone else know?

    • Not the best play. The most raucous and flamboyant? Yes.

Stevie sinking that first shot was the best play. There is nothing more beautiful than ballers who can shoot.

Jesus Shuttlesworth is asking for an amen. Can he get an amen?

Oh Jesus! You are a player! I give myself to you as if I’m someone you take off the bounce. I will await your return… next season.

  32. Fuck it.

I’m going to say right now… fuck it.

Our school deserves this. We deserve to be free of all the shackles of stupidity. We deserve to lead our young to a new age of love and leadership. We deserve to repose.

    What does repose mean?

    List of fuckers:
Richardson, Brown, Lovett, Kellogg, Root, Halliburton and Bechtel

Look them up. Google them. Someone understand half of what tey’ve done in the name of capitalism in the last 70 years.

Oh yeah… capitalism doesn’t just mean old money makes old money!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Because… I can hear the cries of relevance dying as I type..

And I’m part of that kinda… dammit!
    Dammit!
    never mind

  33. I was close. Everything they show yo on the news to scare you into thinking some other nation is “whack” or “good” or… is whack a bygone? Anyway… many people in the Middle East die for one of two reasons.

And… my original is on a comment…. which I do not argue against. You must admit. All the words, as they are typed, and as they look… visually?

  34. Watched the “Dive” after getting back from a volleyball match last night.
When they showed the team coming into the locker room after the CU game, Baldwin was in the picture and he looked like he was about to cry. Not the picture of the strong leader. He looked like a beaten man. GA is a good actor and stays on message. He seems to be a good leader that is confident in what he is doing.

  35. Nkeal Harry says he’s announcing his school monday. Would be shocked if its the beavs. I expect Arizona, or maybe ASU.

Something to keep an eye on this upcoming offseason is South Carolina going after Rich Rod. If he leaves Arizona, could re-open things for Eletise (and Harry if he chooses them)

      • Could almost double his current pay which is $2.8M this year. Read South Carolina is able to pay around $5M. Not saying it will happen but I could see it happening, and that would be great news for OSU if he leaves.

        • Doesn’t Rich Rod get some mega incentive from boosters if he’s there for X more years? I don’t remember the details, but I remember hearing something like that on P12 network I think.

      • that’s what I think too. probably wants to lock something in since a high ankle sprain could be season ending at this point in the year. His stock can only go down if he doesn’t play anymore this year.

    • As much as i know Tucson is a hell on earth, South Carolina is that much worse.

Why would anyone in their right mind go to South Carolina?

        • You can go to Utah for that.

Also, after you’ve done that, you can stay in Utah for that.

Although, Zony must accept some consideration in this slam.

          • My first set of orders were for Beaufort SC. I got most the way thru framp school before they called me down to S-1 and gave me the “bad news” that they were changing my orders to El Toro. No tears shed that day.

          • How in the world is going from SC to SC “bad news”…?

            That blows my mind.

The only thing I can think is that people interested in promotions and sucking up needed to be close to where they could do so?

  36. Some notes from Eggers, injuries providing some opportunity and position changes:

“Offensive tackle Sean Harlow will be lost for the season and will have surgery to repair a broken foot. The 6-4, 300-pound junior is in his third year as a starter and will be tough to replace. Look for O-line coach T.J. Woods to shuffle his lineup, moving right guard Isaac Seumalo to left tackle and inserting redshirt freshman Kammy Delp at right guard.

Left guard Fred Lauina also left the Colorado game with a hamstring injury. His status is questionable for Saturday. If Lauina is unable to go, redshirt freshman Drew Clarkson would be the likely replacement.

Running back Chris Brown (knee) and cornerbacks Treston Decoud (concussion symptoms) and Larry Scott (ankle) will also miss the Utah game. That leaves redshirt freshman Dwayne Williams and either junior Kendall Hill or sophomore Charles Okonkwo as probable starting corners.

OSU coaches are hopeful that running backs Storm Barrs-Woods, who has dealt with a couple of injuries, and Damien Haskins (quad), defensive tackle Jalen Grimble (knee) and receiver Hunter Jarmon (injury unknown) will be able to play Saturday. ”

    Interesting changes to watch:

    CB play and how Okonkwo has developed, will Noland-Lewis see time at CB? ;

    Clarkson > Lauina sounds like a good opportunity, and Seaumalo at LT;

Hope Haskins, Grimble and Jarmon are able to play, the lack of depth otherwise seems significant.

Given the absence of Brown and his speed, I’d rather see Lucas get some handoffs than Bolden, but they’ll probably go to Bolden.

Seems reasonable to expect Utah to win handily, but individual OSU player development – and the progress (?) of the two QB system – probably make the game interesting viewing.

    • I was hoping Isaac moved out and Kammy got the road grading job.

I might be happy despite any outcome. Kam and Clarkson inside is a great great line… in the future?

Nobody has said so. So I will say Clarkson has been really good at LG. He’s made some mistakes. But they have been few and far between. He held that side together last weekend. Kid is good.

    • Let the willfully blind know why they really lost their sight.

And was Bechtel really that much smarter that none of Rummy’s money was discovered?

Whatever… if you think ISIS is bad, you should see video of Saudi Arabia from last week… and last month… and last year… and ten years ago… and 20 years ago… and 30 years ago… you know… before they were our friends.

ISIS is Saud. 9/11 was Saud. Understand those, and you understand much.

  37. PHIL STEELE REPORT:
    Oregon State – Offense: #87 – Defense: #85 – Special Teams: #77
    Utah – Offense: #39 – Defense: #17 – Special Teams: #2

I went against Utah last week and they were in a tough situation and even trailed USC
42-17 late in the fourth quarter. Normally I like to go against a team that had their
National Title bubble burst but here I like the home team. Utah has taken on the second
toughest schedule in the country and was actually playing with mounting pressure last
week and now will be looser. Oregon State is in a rebuilding year and they have
struggled on the road, being outgained by an average of 523-260 and losing by 29
points per game. Utah defensive players may show a little extra passion after their wellliked
defensive coordinator Kilane Sitake left them to go to Oregon State in the
offseason. Utah still controls its own destiny in the Pac 12 South.
