Thanks, angry, for getting things squared away.
Now, back to the (off) topic at hand. Maybe related to your hope that Casey sticks around for a while; Eggers tweets regarding Scott Brosius, Congrats to Scott Brosius, named AAA hitting coach for Seattle Mariners. Linfield’s loss is Mariner chain’s gain
No word on which AAA team (do the M’s have more than one?). But really, triple A batting coach < OSU head coach, no?
That’s too bad, I was hoping he’d be the next coach. I’m not sure he’d leave an MLB organization, even if AAA, to coach college ball. He’ll probably just work his way up the mlb ladder now.
Hard to figure all the angles here. Could have been best time to leave Linfield for some reason and using the MLB job as a place holder waiting for Casey to make a move? I don’t know, pretty good place holder I suppose.
OTOH, if all his own kids are out of the house or ready to be on their own maybe he now feels free to make the moves which would be necessary to “work…up the mlb ladder…”
Hi all, son of a Giant Killer here. Trying to work the bugs out to get me signed up. I’ve been reading this site for several years, never thought my opinion mattered much. But as this season progresses, I realize I might have some valuable info, or nostalgia, or school spirit to add to it. I am the son of a Giant Killer, and as such, bleed orange. I remember playing Pop Warner games, then high tailing it down I-5, still in my pads, to watch JJ Young tear down the sidelines. Tim Alexander was gonna help us turn the corner, and I still wear his jersey every Saturday for good luck.
I was raised during that 28 year losing streak, so my expectations are low. Dad sent us all to the first bowl game in Hawaii, and every bowl game since. It was fun with Erickson, but typical disappointment when he left. My dad has trouble standing up, scars on his legs, and a bad back. But he regrets none of it. He gave his all to the team. And now, he continues to give his all as one of their biggest fans. That means he’s one of those grey haired geriatric guys yelling at you and I to sit down. But I think he’s the exception, he’s yelling because he can’t see, and it’s too painful to stand up. Not because you guys are passionate and love helping the team and are cheering them on.
He was upset when Bud Riley’s son left, he had that last connection. But even in his old age he sees the changes happening and he accepts
You might want to reconsider wearing Timmy’s jersey for luck. That jersey has never brought any luck to anyone, including him. For your diligence I will be sending you an action picture of Tim, running for his life, from my vast collection of mid-90 OSU memorabilia. JB
PS: There will be a $75 charge for shipping and delivery.
PB, I know you have selective memory (as the trama from your tenure still shapes your life), but after you were fired and the “flexbone” was put to rest, Tim became a serviceable wide receiver and no longer needed to “run for his life”.
Hey welcome aboard. My Dad was probably in classes with your dad. Both my parents are OSU alumni and I’ve been an OSU fan all my life. I played football in Parker stadium in middle school and suffered thru the streak driving to the top of logging roads to listen to beav games on the am radio.
I stormed the field after the triple overtime victory over the ducks. Fans started tearing up the old turf, so I made a B-line towards the point where Ken Simonton scored the game winning touchdown. Still have that piece of OSU history in my garage. Aside from my beautiful wife and 2 boys, it’s the thing I’m most proud of.
That field turf was shit. I played in the Shrine game on that field. We might as well played in the gravel parking lot, it probably would have been safer.
Also, broke my ankle badly freshman year practicing at McAlexander (which was turfed, with old reser turf from what I understand) stepped on a bunched up part full speed, inside foot kissed my shin…. Ironically did it again this fall playing 14 years later!! Hip hip horray!
I lived in sackett that year. My roommate and I had I piece of the 50 for a welcoming matt to our room after that civil war. Still good buddies and meeting up again in Berkeley. Go BEAVS!
Our women’s hoops team just won over a Division I opponent by 65 points. They also unveiled the Pac-12 champions banner as well. This team could be special. I want to see them against some real competition though; Big South isn’t good enough. I’m excited for the tilts against Tennessee and Notre Dame. They should win one of those. Win both, and they are primed for a huge year. I expect an Elite Eight run at minimum.
I think this was very poorly done. I see how they used the 90s Chicago Bulls intro music (Alan Parsons Project) for this, but it doesn’t convey much to me. At the Western game, I was apathetic. Last year, I was more excited. The choice of music was better, the editing much more on-point.
Ralph Miller would not like that: “Dunking?!? What’s next, highlights of bounce passes?!? God I need a cigarette!”
It could have used some more play diversity than dunks. And given the new and important team members, they could have shown more names than just Eubanks.
Went to season opener at The Barn last night. We might need to temper expectations for our freshmen. I watched three talented freshman…….play like freshman. Dumb mistakes and defensive let downs interspersed with moments of brilliance. Hopefully Tinkle can get the Beav newbies integrated into the existing players without sacrificing wins in the Non-Con.
CANT BELIEVE THIS LOSER COACH WON’T PLAY BARRS-WOODS-STORM!!! HE IS THE NECT ADRIAN PETERSON AND THERE HE SITS ON BENCH!!!!! YOU DESERVE YOUR WINLESS WAYS! WE’LL JUST BE KNOCKING OFF TOP 10 TEAMS HERE IN LINCOLN. WHOS THE DUMMY NOW???
It’s Gameday gentlemen!!! What are your predictions for the Cal game? Why worry about Cal, how many points can the OSU offense score? Will the offense have a few sustainable drives? Or a bunch of three and outs? Who will be the “mystery” player in the backfield? Will this be a competitive game, or be over by halftime? Could we possibly see the defense score a touchdown or perhaps special teams?
Lucas. Darkhorse: A walk-on. My fun pick is Noland-Lewis, who coaches say have special speed. But I’ve read nothing to indicate that as such. The fact that it is a “surprise,” and this staff seems to be willing to move players around is why I suggest it. Maybe its another WR besides Bolden?
No.
Over by halftime.
Defense score? No, but I think we see some sacks finally.
The AD needs to create t-shirts with shading under the armpits extending downward, to emulate WT’s pit stains. Then sell them at Gill for $15 each and get as many fans as possible wearing them. We all need to at least look like we’re working as hard as coach. Everybody lifts their arms in unison to reveal their sweat stains. It’ll be the new rally hat
I remember his first carry, he knocked out a Stanford LB heading into the end zone. Good student too, I think GA wants to play Storm cause he’s a senior but woods isn’t playing at the next level IMO and we need to give guys a chance
Sorry but his is a little self promotion but I wrote a little article over on the sit Building the Dam if you guys want give it a read and let me know what you think.
But I do enjoy it here as I do enjoy angry beavs site and all of its unique charters.
not to be that guy but what other fan sites do you guys read? Heck, I don’t even read ESPN any more as they killed the lay out. It looks like they made it for phone usage only. I wish ESPN had an option to go back to an older version.
Espn used to be my go to place for score updates, but their nee format is slow and clunky, especially on phones.
I read this site, and that’s pretty much it. I like how the comments are pushed to my inbox and i dont have to visit the site every time i want to get caught up. Plus it’s pretty funny at times.
Used to try the rivals and scout forums, but felt like it was mostly re-hash, and pure orange usually is a couple days behind those sites with the same content. Hardly ever think to visit building the dam. Do they have fan forums?
Building the Dam has story articles that are easier for me to read… and sometimes I’ll write an article that no one will read. I like the sit and the guy who runs seems to be a great person. But it just does not have the traffic to keep a conversation going which is sad some times because the articles are easy and fun to read but some times you want to just type words and have conversations with people.
Want to see players having fun going for a road win in the Bay and playing with an infectious style and attitude. Best shot to come home with a W and good for recruiting. Be great if Andersen inches this upcoming class towards Top 30.
I dont get the class rankings thing. Looks like they only count 3/4/5* guys, and the teams who sign the bigger classes get the better rankings. Seems like average star rating would be more accurate since not every team signs 25 guys per cycle. Plus, the mission players pad the rankings. They may never even come here so why count them?
Noticed the newest JC commit got rated at 2*. Wasn’t he unrated the other day? More than half of the ratings for OSU’s class feel arbitrary.
I agree. Seems class rankings would be more appropriate to based on top 12 recruits per year. A school should get a zero added to their average if they fail to sign at least 12 per year. Average star is a start, average player rank or average player position rank would be a less lazy way.
Smiling/Gum Chomping Bike Peddler and the gang are ready to take on Rutgers on the road. I hope they hold true to form and screw the pooch on this one, but Rutgers is a pretty crappy team (then again so is Purdue). Eight losses is still possible and would be damn cool!
You’re killin me Smalls!

I think his stated goal the whole time was to get back into a MLB role. I doubt he’d come back for OSU, but I guess you never know.
http://www.pamplinmedia.com/pt/12-sports/263501-136214-scott-brosius-eyes-mlb-coaching-job
MLB manager is his goal and a worthy one at that.
“So we got that going for us….which is nice.” * Carl Spackler 1980

Big hitter, the Lama.
So I got that going for me
Beaver coaching staff has been preaching / teaching “Toughness” but what does that mean?
http://www.oregonlive.com/beavers/index.ssf/2015/11/gary_andersen_oregon_state_bea_8.html#incart_river_mobile_index
Why has this been so hard for the players to grasp? Is it a talent gap, lack of toughness, or both?
Has anybody seen film on the new JC football commit?
Seems like a decent talent. All conference on both offense and defense. Highlight tape makes him look like the “low hanging fruit.”
I know this is a dumb question but can coaches not talk about recruits publicly?
not until they have signed
ASU drops its season opener to Sac St at home 66-63. Brutal
That result should put ASU fans in a Hurley mood for sure.
Buffs taking it to the condoms at the half…
Buffs finally remembered they’re the Buffs
Buff’d it?
yup. prophylactics won
Offsides on a big 3rd down stop doomed da buffs. USC rallied off multiple TD’s after that
Go Beavs. Will be at tomorrow’s basketball game. Can’t wait….
me too taking my son to the game we go to a few early non-conference games a year less people more seat
I think it won’t be quite so easy to snag tickets this year because of the team improvements.
We started with season tickets last year and plan to renew every year…at least we’ll have a seat.
I snagged some tix off craigslist for the Tuesday Iona game. I’ll be there with my mini me degenerates
A guy just wrote me who is the son of a Giant Killer. He’s going to join the site. I thought that was a pretty neat deal.
Nice. My Dad was at the USC game.
My mom’s cousin was Swede Halbrook…true story. Of course, is that anything to brag about?
Sorry, but unless verified I’m not buying it. Especially with the blitz trolls, Jack’s multiple personalities and other trash around here lately.
Fool me once, shame on me…………
It’s probably Keith Kostol….
UCLA loses at Pauley in OT to Monmouth 84-81.

The change. In fact, he embraces it. And tells me, it doesn’t happen overnight. Rome wasn’t built in a day, and the Beavs Empire won’t be either!

Haha nice. If that was the same turf I played on in the 80s you did the world a favor by tearing it up.
That field turf was shit. I played in the Shrine game on that field. We might as well played in the gravel parking lot, it probably would have been safer.
God, no shit. That turf was so bad. Hard as a rock and there was this huge puddle at mid field.

Prove me wrong Beavs.
One good thing is that Decoud is back. Goff will throw picks and that could help keep the defense off the field.
Goff gets back in the Heisman discussions, just on the basis of this game….

Tinkle needs to rethink the dark colored dress shirts. He’s a manic, which I love, but he sure does sweat.
maybe the sweat brings in the recruits if so let him do what he wants. I’d think,
What’s the issue with Haskins lack of PT? Guy looks like a brute. Injuries? Too slow for DI ball?
Injured, he’s quick, but not fast. Needs the O-line to open up holes like the rest of our backfield.
I remember his first carry, he knocked out a Stanford LB heading into the end zone. Good student too, I think GA wants to play Storm cause he’s a senior but woods isn’t playing at the next level IMO and we need to give guys a chance
