  1. According to stat sheet, Cheik Ndyae played six minutes against Iona. I don’t recall seeing him. Is he 100% or recovering still?

Looking forward to more Nall on Saturday. he is good to go.

  2. I wonder if the frosh will play lights out tonight because of the venue. Rice has no end bleachers. Well, they might have them on one end now. There’s the old school exit with balcony on one end. And the other end was a rec court with a big curtain, but it could certainly be a space for bleachers. Otherwise, it’s my high school gym… and likely yours.

It can get loud, though, if the students are still behind the visitor bench.

    • That seems so unfair to have the students behind the opponents. They should always be on the opposite side. That should just be a thing that is done. But oh well, shouldn’t be too intimidating either way.

I couldn’t remember if Duke’s student section was behind the benches, and it’s not, their set up is pretty similar to ours. They just win and we haven’t. Except their camera is facing their student section, like I wish ours was. Usually that looks super full because of the students and whatnot.

      • Easy solution, put the benches on the other side and move the students so they’re in view of the cameras.

Or move the cameras to the opposite side of the arena and keep everybody sitting where they sit. It can’t be that hard to move the cameras, right? I haven’t been to Gill in awhile, but isn’t each side essentially the same set up once you get out of the lower bowl? Is there no room for cameras on the other side?

  3. I’m on the east coast for work this week and would greatly appreciate a link (when it arises) for the OSU/UW game on Saturday. PAC-12 Network doesn’t seem to exist in bars east of the Rockies.

    Thanks in advance!

  4. I’ve noticed one “Ukrainian friends” site has the game listed, but you are on your for the research. If any of you get something called “Get TV” on over the air TV or from your provider their regular programming is sometimes pre-empted for the American Sports Network. I can’t find whether that will be the case tonight with this game. I usually see hoops being aired on the weekend on that network mostly.. I’m going to have to listen on the radio, one of the kids has hoops practice.

  5. Wow we look so terrible on defense this I’m embarrassing. I thought we wanted to hang our hats on defense? If we can’t guard Rice University guards then imagine what Kansas and other teams will do to us.

  6. Beavers Twitter states they’re getting homer’d by the refs… Rice in bonus, but only 3 fouls called on them. Can’t watch, are we getting homer’d or are we fouling more because we’re being out athleted?

  7. Beavs pulling away a bit, up 11 at the half. They slowly built the lead through most of the first half. Good sign, considering they seemed fatigued early on.

  8. Beavs are over 50% from the field and 3pt and over 88% from the line and it feels like they can play a lot better. They withstood Rice’s energy to start the game and like Angry said, looked sluggish but have bounced back. The D tightened up the last 10 minutes and I fully expect them to bring it the 2nd half.

  9. Beavs are going to win this one. Good win considering the short rest and travel, imo. I know it’s Rice, but still good under those difficult circumstances.

UCSB is going to be well rested and the Beavs aren’t, so that’s another tough one.

  10. 3-0 baby.

One game closer to that elusive NCAA tourney. A good team guts out a meh game like this (boring matchup, tired, travel, etc) and that’s what they did. I thought it was impressive overall. Even fine to give up the big lead if it means conserving energy for Saturday.

  11. was only able to catch a few minutes of the 2nd half on radio. Decided a massage was more important. No Beavergopher i did not get a happy ending. At any rate, doesn’t matter if you win by 1 or 100. It’s a win and that’s all that matters. I had a sneaking suspicion Saturday was going to be the more difficult of the two.

      • idk, I didn’t ask. I’d like to be able to continue visiting this particular establishment. I did however ask the gal after my last massage if a dude had ever popped a boner on her while being massaged. The answer was yes. On many occasions. Thank god I am not one of the many. If you’ve ever wanted to know, well, directly from a massage therapist

        • You raise an issue that I’ve heard about but never taken the time to investigate and that’s how nurses deal with erections. Based on the following it would appear that what I heard was true.

I wonder if the masseuses use the same technique? I’ll leave that up to you to find out.

          ———-
My mother, a nurse during the 1960s, said she and her coworkers used to carry a metal teaspoon around the wards with them in a pocket. A quick whack of the back of the spoon to the bell-end, and no more stiffy.

          ———-
I’ve got quite a few friends who are or have been nurses or doctors and I’ve heard them mention or discuss this a number of times – describing either a flick with a wooden tongue depressor, or a sharp tap with a spoon or a touch from the cold metal handle of a pair of scissors or forceps.

          • Wtf? Is a stiffie so terrible a thing that we need to go all Sister Grace on it?

Is that bad enough a visual in itself? It shouldn’t be. It was reality for many of us.

Why is it a bad thing if a masseuse does his or her job so well a customer is that relaxed? It’s not like the actor has to finish it off.

Or are we on this kick where the tease needs to just accept that they must have sex because they are a tease… and then be honor murdered?

          • Ok, gotta ask….. I could see what looked like female flesh in your avatar, so I saved it and zoomed in…..dogs face, female ass in the background….and some out of focus words. So now my dirty mind wants to know whats said there…..

I try to think about the fate of western civilization but….

          • Wait… wouldn’t “that” massage be rape in itself?

            Aren’t you the victim here?

I think the courts might respond to my new found defense.

          • no. since I paid for the massage I think I could be prosecuted for soliciting a prostitute. Oh what a scary world it is out there. I almost feel sorry for guys 15 years or more younger than I. Almost. Because most of them are self centered twunts anyways

    • BOOOO!!!

      And yet also awesome… kinda.

Just read the article to know how fucked up our legal system is. This is what we spend our money on… this and jail… yup… $200b on incarceration alone. Imagine even two more percentage points taking no pleas. That would make it a 96% plea rate… and likely still a 5-8% rate of innocents pleading guilty.

There just is no pretense of law remaining. It’s a bunch of knee-jerk laws made by tough on crime idiots 30 years ago. And now those laws are politically radioactive.

Sucks to be a stupid law.

        • Yet those who are most liable for that outcome would have us believe it’s about justice. They say things like, “Justice isn’t about right or wrong, fair or unfair.” Sorry, anyone who believes that also thinks perseveration is the definition of insanity… or some similar fallacy.

Point is, it’s law that isn’t fair or right, not justice. Justice is and always has been justice. Law is made by people.

    • What was most encouraging for me was the Beavs force in the middle (Eubanks) was almost a non-factor tonight because of foul trouble and yet the team persevered.

I can’t help but get my hopes up re the prospects for this team a year or two down the road.

    • A place you don’t want to go. Unless you deal in gun trafficking, drug trafficking, human trafficking, stolen identities, really depraved shit. Or you could goggle it for a better explanation.

      • O puhleeze.

It can be all that. But it is also reality based. Believe it or not, there are people out there who have hybrid seeds and know Monsanto can’t know. I know it sounds like impossible funny stuff. But that’s the American Dream. Find someone who has an awesome idea then buy them out. If they don’t sell, use daddy’s money to leverage them until they do sell. If that doesn’t work… yeah.

American Dream baby! It’s more than a slice.

    • Right now as BlackBandits points out it’s a place populated by outlaws.

Unfortunately the way things are going the dark web might be a place where the folks who want to speak freely and want their freedom might have to hang out.

It very well could work out that we the people (not the sheeple) end up being considered by the establishment to be outlaws.

The “interesting times” that the Chinese curse refers to appears to be upon us.

      • The “dark web” is populated by mostly right-minded people. Don’t let G-man scare you into thinking what he can’t patrol is all evil stuff.

Never mind. We have people here who think Trump makes sense. Why bother?

        • And if you try to make the deep web illegal, it will just be illegal. It won’t go anywhere. In fact, it might make more money. But it’s not like it will be hit in any way.

      • Right minded people….. lol. You do realize all the ISIS folks think they are the only right minded people. Kinda like the term “terrorism”. All in the eye of the beholder. One persons terrorism is another persons righteous military action.

The sheeple are always considered a lesser threat, until the difference in life between them and the rulers becomes too great. Then revolution just starts up. The rulers seem to repeat that, thru history. But we are a good ways from that in this country.

And humanity has been experiencing “interesting times” forever…. now is a pretty benign time, actually. The 50’s, for example, had folks looking over their shoulder for the nukes to come in and end it all. Dont see that on the horizon right now. And no terrorism going on here. Hasnt been since 9/11, and that wasnt all that scary. Up the airline security some and hasnt happened again. Was a stunt, really. And the thing in France was pretty insignificant. 130 killed? Tens of thousands die every year here in auto accidents. 130 probably die every day in the Middle East., on foot. And we are not currently waging some idiotic war.

In all of this, the US is in an enviable position. We have oil and other resources of our own, we have a food bread basket, and we have no dedicated enemies on our borders (or even on the same continent). No other major power/well developed country can say that. Our cheap labor/main immigrants are hispanics, who basically like us. In Europe, the cheap labor is muslims and the heavy class structure in those countries keeps the immigrants from feeling like citizens. A powder keg, really.

So my opinion is that other parts of the world are in for …”interesting times”.

        • One persons terrorism is another persons righteous military action.

I think that sums up everyone’s argument always and forever. Interesting point about labor costs. Little Chinese preteen girls are still our cheapest labor. Just ask Nike. But the labor we see stateside is exactly who we hire then whine about.

  12. Stanford lays an egg in the non-con. Thanks for that boys.

I’m liking a lot of the new rules. My absolute favorite is the emphasis on calling blind no-step picks as fouls. That pick has bugged me for at least a decade. It’s not a fucking pick. It’s a block if it’s not a hug. I’ve seen championships won on that stupid fucking rule-break. It bothers me.

  13. That said, our game tonight was an example of how the game will go from here on. We had a lot of hands in front, not on the sides. Checks are not allowed. Sorry if that’s wrong for your team. We were tired and/or lazy. I vote the former. But I also vote the latter. Grow up boys. This is what you do. If you want to play on the next level, this is what you will do for months on end.

Put it in your heads. Get it right. This is what you do because this is what you want to do.

I guess the same could be said for football… except Riley probably had a bunch of promises to just guide young men through school in some honorable way quoting stuff about loyalty and such.

I’ll just leave that there.. Riley… loyalty… times twice… yeah.

    • … not that I’m complaining about either of Riley’s disloyalties.

Please… I am now, and was, and am now again, as I was, happy with an amazingly good upgrade.

I do have to give Riley1 credit. He left that program in better shape than he found it. That can not be said this time around.

        • I was gonna say something positive here about the first part of Riley2, but thinking about it, you cant do good work and then let it all go to hell, and still claim sainthood. You lose focus or whatever, call for that retirement party and leave things going at least well….

        • I was pissed when we hired him back, but in hindsight, he kept things going well for 5 years, which helped establish the program. However, he should have left the day Coach Gilstrap died, since he was the brains of the operation. It’s a clear drop off in results after that. Yeah, it took 2 years to clear out most of Gilstrap’s talent so we coasted for a minute, just like it’ll take 2 years to clear out the current Riley ‘talent’ and we’ll suck for a while.

  14. Thinking about it I think the boys deserve some kudos tonight. They won a mere 2 road games last season. Both came in the pacific northwest (at Portland and WSU). To travel to Texas and win a game in less than 48 hours after beating Iona is an accomplishment. Hopefully there is no hangover for another game in less than 48 hours. UCSB will be the tougher of the two opponents. But for tonight, good job guys. Hope they can keep it rolling.

    • Right on, whiskey…. This looks to be a team that has some firepower, and if you want to get frenetic, lets go for it. They can play fast. And they look to like challenges….you catchin up? Ok, here we come again…

Man, if they could beat UCSB it would really give them confidence, but thats gonna be tough. So just play hard and learn. Looks to me like we got a winner on our hands…

      GO BEAVS!!!!

  15. Additional notes from the Rice game:

-Tinkle had more free throw attempts than the rest of the team combined.

-Team only shot 54% free throws in second half.

-Big G had no rebounds in 13 minutes. Come on man!

-S Thompson had no assists in 14 minutes.
