Really need to finish strong and show some progress here in the last 2 games. Some forward momentum going into winter would be huge for the fan base. Too many unrealistic people are already disgruntled. Need to show GA we’ve got his back.
And do the best we can hang to the recruits. Also, landing a couple more sure fire guys in the process to kick start things could really set 2016 up nicely.
Imo the talent isn’t there in order for them to finish strong. All I’m hoping for is effort and disclipline. And asking for discipline is a stretch considering the experience of the defensive backfield. Some of those guys were what, 3rd or 4th string at the beginning of the year?
2017 4* safety Chaz Ah-You is making an unofficial visit this weekend too. Really likes Sitake and Tuiaki which will always keep us in the running for him
seems like when guys take roids in high school they are good at first and then fade down the stretch of their careers. Who knows though, maybe he just naturally looks that way.
I like that we have some commits mixed in with the visitors instead of taking their OV in Dec/Jan. I wonder if the coaches plan that? I’m sure they have some say in it.
Glad to see that some high-profile recruits are making visits to Corvallis. While the on-field product has not been impressive to the fans, these recruits must see something in the off-field product (coaches, staff, team culture) that is attractive. That’s worth holding on to as a sign of hope for better years ahead.
Weather looks good for this weekend, so hopefully Corvallis shines.
Wonder if refs will be out to get the Beavs this weekend? I believe it was the UW game during Moevo’s year when the officiating was atrocious. And, the head of officiating commented after the game that it was only egregious if you’re an Oregon State fan.
Back in the old days there were times when the basketball officials had to have a police escort in order to get out of town. Perhaps there were some good things about the good old days, eh?
That was the game when Yvenson clearly scored a TD, and was laying about 1.5 yds into the end zone. Let go of the ball AFTER hitting the ground. A UW play scooped it up and ran 40 yds. Jay Stricherz called it a fumble.
Look it up, probably still the worst call I’ve ever seen.
a) Crystal clear, no question TD. No controversy or ambiguity whatsoever.
b) He was already on the ground when he let go of the ball. In no world would that remotely have been a fumble
Thank goodness he was tackled. I remember thinking the crowd might kill the refs. Agree that that was the worst call……..ever. He extended the ball on the ground. No fumble.
Second worst call I have seen. First was when oklahoma recovered an onside kick after oregon touched it early and the refs still gave oregon the ball. Same officials as Beavs Udub fumble debacle. I have seen that particular crew butcher calls for almost twenty years.
That’s how I remember the play. He was tackled short of the goal line then, while on the ground, reached out with the ball over the line letting go at that point. I have no idea what the refs were watching.
My hope is we land Himphill and one of the 4* recruits (either Kongbo or Handsome). That would make it for a successful weekend. Really goes to show how well the coaches are selling the university and Corvallis.
He’s the same Duckie who pretends to be the fan du jour.
Interesting thought. The last time a Browning played in Corvallis, we lost to UW 50+ to something like 6 or 8… in a sideways rain. I think Pettibone’s strategy of trying to tire out Napoleon Kaufman worked quite well.
The upside was that we finally put a W on the board the following week at Autzen. Of course, we were installing the CW gameplan for three weeks. I doubt GP is doing that.
The thing that I have noticed the most this year is the ability of Andersen and his staff to actually get commitments in season. It seems like all we have gotten in the last few years were the scraps of the other Pac 12 teams. By this I mean that even though a commit might have received an offer from another Pac 12 school, they would have been used as a third stringer or scout team player. Those are the players that we have as starters now. Andersen is doing an absolutely marvelous job of selling the program at this point. Just look at the situation this weekend. He was able to coax the top JC recruit to drop his Auburn visit to visit Corvallis. I believe that he is doing an extraordinary job and I hope that all of Beaver Nation give him a few classes to show what he can do.
From all the reports that I have read I’m not even afraid of poachers. Andersen knows how to sell a college town and he has the absolute best wild card for high ranking commits right now. And that is playing time right away in the 1st/2nd best power 5 conference in the nation and that they could be the reason that the Beavers can turn everything around.
On another note, as soon as the staff got the commitment from Wallace, they have started to get higher rated commits. Having a good staff along with getting higher commits will bring in a hell of a lot more interest from players.
I wonder if it has been a conscious decision to spend more time on recruiting each week at a sacrifice to time in the game planning and development of this year’s talent group?
I know that it hasn’t shown so much on the field yet, but I believe that all of the players that have bought into what Andersen is selling will see that he is bringing in the talent next year and that everyone should be on notice that if they don’t show up every play they may be watching someone next year come in and take their spot. They might not have any experience, but if that player looks to project higher, why not let the player with the higher ceiling make a few mistakes than let the player with the experience play half ass because they werre here last year. (AKA Mike Riley)
he’s spending his time as a coach much better than Riley who spent the week before the Alamo Bowl scouting real estate prospects with his wife. No wonder Riley looked lost at that game and recruiting fell off
He’s surrounded by superior talent…a lot of 4 and 5 star guys. It’s hard to know how it will translate at the next level. I view him as raw but an upgrade over Collins.
That vs. Bryce Perkins stats from 2014, granted 2 more games played: 3001 py, 75% c%, 46 tds to 6 ints, 697 rushing at 9.2ypc and 5 tds. #1 AZ, #12 nationally in 2014.
Appears that Perkins started two years at Chandler; his junior numbers look more like Moran’s senior. Definitely think he’d benefit redshirting behind DG.
Yes he has got talent around him, but you still need somebody to get the ball to that talent. He is a little bit raw, but I think he is perfect for Baldwin’s system. He is smart, a great leader, and a baller. His stats don’t lie. I think he would benefit with a year under him to learn the system and put on a few pounds. His frame looks like he could easily add 30 lbs.
I get what Angry is saying about the talent, but if he does that well with superior talent, what makes you think he can’t do it on this level with even more superior talent.
Because a legit 5-star WR in HS can dominate more than they can at the college level. Makes a HS QB look good. It happens at the next level (See Cooks making Mannion look great), but it’s harder to pull off. Cooks was an NFL talent.
Moran is an okay prospect…don’t get me wrong. Just raw and greatly benefiting from the talent around him so I put little value in the stats. I look at this arm, form, decisions and they’re okay. He needs at least a year to sit and maybe 2.
Well that 5 star WR got injured and is out for the season and now Mason is still getting the team to win in the Playoffs against stiffer competition behind a Jr 3star WR replacement in Kolby Taylor and they don’t miss a beat.
PHIL STEELE FORECAST:
(Note: this was released before Mitchell was cleared).
It’s Sr day in Corvallis. OSU had won 7 of 8 in this series, but UW has won 3 str by
an avg of 23 ppg. The Beavers were already down to their backup QB, but he was
lost to a conc LW & Marcus McMaryion is in line to start this week. OSU could be in
for a long day as McMaryion has completed just 8 of 30 passes (27%)! The
Beavers are -200 ypg in P12 action, while the Huskies are -36 ypg in conf play.
The Vegas experts are listing UW as over a td fav & while they’ve only won 1 gm
by more than 2 td’s, it was a dominant 49-3 win over AZ. I’ll call for the Huskies
to win their 2nd gm of the ssn by over 2 td’s this week.

The reason that the offense has been horrendous is because all the weapons that we do have either don’t get the ball in stride or get killed. The other skill players have talent as long as they can get the ball in situations that fit their skill set.
Except when the ball does come in on stride, the ball usually hits the receiver in the face mask, numbers, or hands and its drops city. Not saying the qb play has been acceptable, but I’ve seen some really bad make or break easy drops. Drive killers
I agree, QB play is bad, but the receivers have dropped a lot of balls this year. RB’s have been injury prone. Storm Woods has been underwhelming. Some strange play calling at times. Offense was a mess from the beginning.
There have been a lot of drops by the receivers. Bolden just can’t focus enough to watch the ball all the way in, but I think most of the other guys just aren’t engaged enough when they are thrown the ball because they don’t think it will be near them. The mentality of staying in each play and getting in rhythm with ALL the quarterbacks during the offseason. I think there will be multiple sets with different guys behind center next year, even if Garrettson runs away with the job.
I think at this point Anderson is all in sort of speak on the recruiting and is probably doing his best and hardest work there. He knows it is his only hope at turning this team around. And I think he wants to be at OSU for a while. So with that I think we will all be surprised at how well the recruiting will have been on signing day.
The best part about it is that he has hit on a lot of high to mid profile high school recruits so now he can really buckle down and get the JC guys he wants to make the Beavs competitive next year
Yep. He’s done well on D except for DTs. Hopefully that changes this weekend. Landing one or both DTs would be enormous for the program. Not landing either and things get iffy. Who even starts at DT next year right now?
Anybody know if these JC guys have eligibility issues? Kuli, Peko and others always makes me wonder. These guys have good looking offet sheets, so probably not. Regardless, it’s nice to see someone turned down an Auburn visit to come to Corvallis.
whatever happened to Lamone Williams? He was the higher recruited player, but never hear anything from him. I asked Gina back Oct about him, she just said he was in the rotation, but I never see him.
I know that I have heard Andersen and Sitake talk highly of Aydon earlier in the year. I can’t remember if they ended up burning his redshirt, but I believe they didn’t. He’s the only one that I can think of off hand so like you said Angry, huge weekend for the defensive line commits. Really hope that Kongbo commits and stays away from Oregon. Seems like he is they type of player that Sitake would love to have because he has just enough size to move around on the line so that the offensive like can’t just key in on him and he can make plays all over.
And turned on a game this morning that CR was the analyst on. I turned it on just in time to see Joe Burton wing a back door pass… to nobody. It was surreal.
No. I don’t have any more insider info than the next guy. I just love reading about OSU so I read a lot of trusted sites. Practice reports, pressers, coaches calls, and etc. If you look into information you can come up with some pretty good ideas on what is going. Unfortunately thats what I have to do living down here in Texas.
OREGON DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION ISSUES TRAFFIC ADVISORY
Motorists can expect long delays on I-5 North between 5:00 and 7:00 on Saturday November 21st.
Thousands of cars will be leaving Eugene heading north at approximately 4:00 at the conclusion of the Oregon – USC game. They will be joined at I-5 milepost 228 N. by hundreds of cars leaving Corvallis at approximately 4:30 at halftime of the OSU – Washington game. Expect delays of up to two hours from 5:00 until 7:00.
I didn’t realize “manic gum chomper” and the boys have a bye this week. Have to wait a week to cheer on the Hawkeyes to stomp Biley’s bowl aspirations. It only matters because if the Huskers win and make it to a bowl game, there will be an upswell of a “Riley salvaged a lost season” narrative on a national level and I don’t want to read or see that bullshit for four or five weeks.
It’s kind of what’s going on here with the Quacks and that glimmer of a North Division title hope. I know journalists have to sell something, but I hope Stanford crushes Cal to shut the “determined and no quit Ducks” crap up once and for all. They are not Kelly and Mariota’s Ducks and no one wants to really admit that, so they cling to the hope of a division title.

Gazuntite.
Honestly, I believe we have a legitimate shot to land ALL these visitors. Himphill is a stud.
Himphill looks roided out.
Man-child
He sure does. And he is a violent hitter. Coaches might want to check on him a bit closer.
He looks like he is trying kill people. Beavs have not had a LB like that for years.
Pankey?
I don’t know about Pankey but you killed me with that answer. :-)
I was trying to remember that name.
Krebs? Cowdin?
Lolol. And people backed those players (not their fault). It just shows how ridiculous and blind fans, or anyone with an agenda, can be.
Reubin Robinson?
Haha I remember Jack went to bat for Pankey.
No you don’t.
You should remember Pankey’s mom going after me for doing the opposite of what you remember.
seems like when guys take roids in high school they are good at first and then fade down the stretch of their careers. Who knows though, maybe he just naturally looks that way.
He looks nothing like taking steroids, good grief.
I think the question is “when?” not “if?” Himphill commits. My guess is he commits this weekend on his visit, and now that his season is over.

Lets get greedy and take both of the 4* JUCO DT’s. Both would likely start next year
They can definitely sell immediate playing time, which is important for JC guys.
Bow down, swamp slappers, bow down to Warshington!
Isn’t that cute? Amish Georgia fan thinks this is a Florida site then says Warshington is somewhere in the dirt.
Heh heh… even when Duckie writes it I think of the old hag in Princess Bride going off with the “bow” rant.
We eat teams like yours. Our D is lit!!!
Oh and get used to Browning curb stompings. You’ll see. We are still considered the dominant program in the NW.
Browning to Mickens. BIG TD. Repeat ALL DAY!!
BOW DOWN!!!
Says the guy driving his 1992 Honda Accord with a giant “O” in the back of his window as he waits in line in the Taco Bell drive-thru
Why would he wait in line? He can just walk in the back door and score from his coworkers.

6’7″ 300lbs. That’s a big boy! No rating yet, but he’ll get the beaver bump after this visit. Put him down as a 3 start, 5.5 rated….
WE DEM DAWGS!!
Yeah… you guys unhappy that Nikegon was afraid to go to Athens to play? They are related to chickens, but they don’t know how to cross the road.

He also will be visiting according to Nemec. Man I love how this staff is hitting the local kids hard.
OT… man Utah is not good without Poeltl.
And turned on a game this morning that CR was the analyst on. I turned it on just in time to see Joe Burton wing a back door pass… to nobody. It was surreal.
Playing Washington reminds me of Moevao levelling that husky Husky defender. Fun times

Who is Austinbeav? This guy sounds like an insider.
Awesome for tomorrow – Basketball at 2:00 (TV & radio are both being streamed), football @ 3:00 (p12 & beavsportsnet)
Why would they schedule games on top of each other?
Because football isn’t on set times before the season.
very Queenish. You can certainly hear some of another one bites the dust in this one. Damn cool bass groove………………….

Beaver fans are just driving up to Monroe, right? Traffic on 99W should be ok.
Or the road between 99 and I 5? I can’t remember the name of it, but it’s a nicer ride than the other two.
99w, 99e and I5. Unless you take back roads like Peoria and independence hyw, which suck.
