Eubanks seems to have confidence issues now (only 6 points per game in conference play, and his game is getting worse). His body language has changed, so I think it’s a confidence problem. Tinkle and Thompson have to start getting starter minutes. They’re in the mid 20s, but Olaf and Morris-Walker still average more. Less Olaf, more Tinkle. Less Langston, more Thompson.

Between the 6 of them, they produced 1 fucking rebound. One. I’d also like to see less Duvivier and more Derrick Bruce. Those 3 veterans are way too streaky
I agree about the streaky vets. Time to increase the mins of younger guys for better or worse. Duvivier always seemed like a 6A highschool football fullback, that somehow went to the wrong tryouts, but Robinson didn’t have anyone better so gave him a jersey. He’s never had any discernible basketball skills, just a good size kid who is decent enough at running the floor.

Jakob Poetl is likely going to eat our frontcourt alive. I’m not too worried about Eubanks. The knock on him before the season was that he needs to get bigger and stronger and it’s just now showing up as we consistently play teams with big frontcourts.
This team needs some offensive punch on the starting five. I’d put Tinkle in for LMW and Thompson in for Duvivier at the 2. LMW and Duvivier have had a shot and just haven’t produced on O. At least see how it goes for the first 10 minutes. Leave Olaf at 4 and Eubanks at the 5. I think Eubanks needs to be given a bit of slack just because he’s a freshman, and its a giant leap from bounding over the guys at Troutdale and playing on the front line of D-1. He’s learning, but it will involve some ugly play along the way.

Officials decided this game. It was the worst officiated game I have seen ever. These officials should be reprimanded. Tinkle did screw up in 2nd half in who he played. No Thompson is crazy.

Saw this coming a mile away. That was like halfway through the 1st. So obvious the game would not continue that way and Beavs would have to toughen. They didn’t. You can almost feel it when it starts. Tonight was after about 5 minutes into the second half. That’s when Utah started getting back into it. WS too much time left for the Beavis to hold them off.

Idk, the same thing with the Cal game, but they got away with it. Payton holding the ball up top until 10 left on the clock, then trying to get up a shot. With Cal, Payton was getting to the rim and scoring. Tinkle hit that big shot from the baseline as time ran out on the shot clock, etc, etc. Didn’t work with Utah, and the refs didn’t help either. I guess I could understand the strategy with a lead and under 2 to play, but it seems if you’re having success playing a certain way, then keep doing it until the other team stops you. OSU’s offensive flow basically came to a stop.
To be fair, Utah went to a shell match-up and left Poeltl alone in the middle. He can defend one on one low. But we were much better than their defenders, and we broke down the lane with many players. And many of them got hip checked into the short corner by a Poeltl who shuffled from side to side. It was almost literally a case of moving the goalposts on that call. He’s so big that he doesn’t easily move off his line when he checks a smaller player to the floor. So it looks like he’s playing under control when he’s really not doing so.
There was a point where it looked like Poeltl just smacked Reid in the throat or chin with an elbow. And he went to the ref to complain about it. So I felt good about it because it was pretty obvious, and refs have to go to the tape when they suspect contact above the shoulders.
Ref just ignored him. There was zero consideration for safety by that crew. And that is worse than not acceptable.
edit: And remember Utah did this to CU last week. It was just as brutal a game to watch in the second half. Scott is much better than Poeltl if the game is called cleanly. And BYU players have their own way of dealing with what Utah dishes.

I don’t think it’s good for a team to blame refs for a loss. You can only control what you can control. But it makes me mad that commentators almost never mention terrible officiating. Not that I want commentators to turn into Mike Parker. (EDIT: I’m not saying commentators should make excuses for a team getting hammered by the refs. But poor officiating deserves comment, IMO. Calling the game as it is, is the job of the commentator. Including the officiating. My complaint is about poor commentary, not about OSU getting undue praise from the commentators.)

Stanford loss wasn’t on the officials. They played with toughness and took it to OSU. This loss wasn’t really on the refs either. FT difference was big but Utah attacked a lot in the 2nd half. Did they get some breaks? Yeah, but overall, there wasn’t that many bad calls to me. Oregon State held the ball until there was 10 on the shot clock and then forced up a shot. Wasn’t many times where they made Utah actually defend a real offense. A lot of 1 on 1 ball and the refs aren’t gonna bail you out when you’re not going strong to the paint
Stanford was getting away with pushing off on rebounds the entire game. I’ll blame that game less on officiating but it still had something to do with it. Tonight’s outcome was solely decided by the stripes.
What decided the game was Utah didn’t shit their pants in the 2nd half and ran actual offense. They took it to the rim and got open threes. They killed Oregon State in the 2nd half. Poeltl was always getting the ball deep in the paint and he got fouled a lot. Oregon State turned it over a ton in the 2nd half and on a lot of their drives there weren’t fouls imo. I hate Pac-12 officiating as much as anyone but the difference in free throws didn’t seem like it was that unfair overall.
I agree with GoBeavs90 that OSU lost on their own. I hate it when teams start slowing down that early. You need to keep playing like killers and extend the lead. Opponents can always go on a run, especially with their backs to the wall. If you’re up ten with 15′ to play, you’re doing something right and you should stick with it, try to be up 15 with 5′ to play.
I believe OSU didn’t score in the last five minutes. Even with easy layins. That’s how they lost. If they made two or three baskets, they win a close one.
I disagree that the officiating was fair. It wasn’t. GP2 getting called for blocking when he was outside the protected zone with his feet set and the Utah guy initiated contact particularly rankled.

yep. when you take the ball to the hoop and there’s no call, then your opponent does the same and gets to the free throw line it is frustrating as a player.
The Stanford loss wasn’t wholly on the officials. But it was about 70% their game. They’re lucky there wasn’t a fight in that game. That’s because the youngsters were still inexperienced. They don’t know that they shouldn’t be shocked when the refs are calling such an egregious game. They’re good enough to beat these teams easily. But the M.O. against us going forward will be to get in the refs’ heads so they can get in ours.
They need to learn quickly that if they start letting bad refs in their heads, they will be unhappy playing many Pac 12 games… instead of just pounding the other team like they should.

On the plus side, lady Beavs have out scored Stanford 25-8 so far in the 4th. Up 52-46, 1:25 to play.
So once again the going got tough and the team looked toward the veterans to rise to the challenge and they instead shit their pants. This to me is why we won’t make the tourney. Loser veterans. Every game these guys play more than their better freshman counterparts is a notch against coach Tink. I like the “You have to earn your stripes” mentality for the program as a whole but when the talent discrepancy is this big, it’s gonna cost you important games

It was a little weird. I liked Gomis on the floor. He was absolutely effective against Poeltl. Has anyone heard if he’s okay? He was starting to look like himself finally, and he limped off the court at a crucial time. I don’t think we scored again in the last seven minutes except for the last six seconds.
And N’diaye was pretty effective. But he’s not nearly as good as Poeltl. When we just weren’t scoring or handling the ball well at the point… why didn’t we load up with scorers and force the pace once again? And where is Bruce? I really enjoy watching an under-rotated back court get tired with the handle near mid-court.
If we score just 10 points in crunch time, we win this game.

Biggest frustration is that if we could inbounds the ball at the 9 minute mark this turns into a game where the Beavs make 3 of 4 free throws down the stretch for a reasonably comfortable win. Who inbounded that ball? Was it N’Daiye to Tinkle?

I really cringed when we came out in the second half with the upper classmen. I just don’t like that combo with LMW, Duvier, and Schafty. And hardly any Eubanks in the second half. Reid will be suspended for at least 2 games.

so, I got back from dinner, logged on here to see what was going on in the men’s game, figured that out so went over the pac 12 net to watch the women. I swear that once I logged in, with around 7 minutes left in the game, Stanford never scored until a gimme in the last half minute. Crowd was really into it. Fun. Love it when those big streaks end.
So what should happen to Reid?
1. Kick him off the team
2. Suspend him for the Regular season
3. Suspend him for one game
4. The ejection and ultimate meltdown was enough
5. Congratulate him on great right leg, ref got what he deserved. He starts next game.
Suspend him for 1–3 games. I’m skeptical that he did it on purpose, but then again I’ve never played Pac-12 basketball so I don’t know what that kind of intensity is like.
Deliberate or not, he did it and you get sanctioned for the fouls that you commit, not the ones you meant to commit. He has to do better.

I’ve honestly never seen anyone kick a ref in hoops. I don’t know how I should react. I was just stunned. I know you don’t do it, and you need to sit for at least three games. I know there are a whole bunch of people who believe in second chances. If this is his, then I guess three games would be fair. If it’s number three or four on the “out of control violence” front, that number goes up. I would mandate counseling no matter the length of any suspension.
You just don’t do that in sports.

I couldn’t agree with you more. I actually don’t care that much about the Reid situation, he’s a marginal senior that really shouldn’t be seeing much court time. I don’t think he ever got into. basketball shape. Do whatever needs to be done and move on. It may have been on purpose, I don’t give a fuck, the P-12 refs should all be tripped, tied up and sent to ref YMCA games.
WT has got to quit going conservative with the lead. If he’s not going to run an offense to spring open three point shooters than I guess they accept the CBI bid, although they might not get one because I don’t think WT is in bed with the Gazelle Group. I am not going to give him a pass on it. I missed Reid going Cobra Kai and sweeping the leg in live action because I was completely irritated over the fact he was fouled on the rebound and then fouled again when pushed down. A few plays earlier the Utah center (not even gonna try and type his last name) knocked him down below the basket and Reid was called for a blocking foul for just standing in his way. I completely understand his frustration. Josh Scott was called for all of 2 fouls Wednesday night. Hell he only got called for one foul tonight against the ducks. Then you have the complete homer jobs tonight in Boulder and SLC. It’s brewing. If the Pac does not get its shit together when it comes to officiating I can see more of this happening. If it’s a foul, fucking call it.
That Reid trip was so idiotic and he deserves 3 games for that, 2 preferred. I know the refs were being terrible, I know. I understand that you weren’t getting anything to go your way. But you CAN NOT take out your anger on an official. It reflects so poorly on the program, the school, the coach…I’m upset about it. Oh, and I had to watch the men’s meltdown on ESPN3 while I was at the women’s game. What a 4th quarter comeback by the women. I was ready to fold up hope on our women, just because in games that mattered, they had come up short every single time (Tennessee should have been a win, Notre Dame could’ve been a win, UCLA was a bad loss).
But finally, with a veteran team and great depth, they answered when a team that could match up with them. They won when it mattered, executed when it mattered, got good looks and drained them. My friend asked me if I would take Lili Thompson on Stanford or Jamie Weisner, and although Thompson has court vision, speed, and creation abilities, Jamie has a fire to her and it came out at the end. Huge game from Deven too. I’m elated for this win because it was huge for our program; a statement win over the conference big dog for the last 15-20 years, came in a comeback when the ladies only managed 21 points in the first half, and now they can say that they belong.
Reid should be suspended for at least a couple games. If he gets kicked off the team, it would not be too extreme. That just makes the school look bad. Are we going to get any calls the rest of the year? I think not. It’s not about the calls though, Reid crossed the line. I’ve never seen anything like that in basketball.

Three is a trend, it’s the third time they have played decently for 20-30 minutes on the road and then got rolled when the going got tough. Seasons go by fast, WT needs to figure out something quickly or this is going to be a season of underachievement and a waste of GP2’s senior season.

I didn’t watch the game but it seemed like a good no call on the Reid play. There was minimal contact and they were both going for the ball. Players shouldn’t be complaining about calls. If the calls really were that bad it is on Coach to go ballistic and get ejected, even Pops occasionally gets a well timed ejection.
If it’s a tie ball, the ref needs to call it immediately so no further effort and contact is made by either player because it can escalate quickly. If it’s not a tie ball, and there is contact which takes someone to the ground, it is either a foul or a ref who is “teaching someone a lesson” outside the rules of the game.
I’ve seen the glare he gave the ref get T’d up many times before. It looked like the ref was going to let that go too.
The worst part was that Utah was getting gassed from their last run, and we were starting to get a second wind. Then Reid provided a very long time-out for them to get their legs. It was over at that point because of that, and I honestly didn’t expect us to get another call.
In the video, it looks like Payton II runs over and tells Reid, “Trip this mutherf*#$er” right before it happened. At least that’s what I imagined him saying.
He’s saying, “Let’s go!”

The Jarmal move was a total lack of class, heat of the moment, bad judgement display. I honestly won’t be upset if we never see him in uniform again. He’s a kid and you don’t want to give up on any player, but that was inexcusable and embarrassing.

This could affect how many calls go OSUs way the rest of the season. It depends on how this group of officials is viewed by its peers. We can not afford any close games because the calls might not go our way!!!
That officiating crew has never been pro OSU. It would be nice to be able and go back and look at the total fouls for and against OSU, called by a crew. I know this game OSU over 24 fouls while Utah only had 10.

When and where there’s lots of money to be made, it seems that people with low integrity and high greed typically follow. What’s more interesting to me is that despite the multiple examples of decreasing integrity in sports – NCAA football “championships” and supporting processes, baseball PED use (imagine how high that is in NBA?), Lance Armstrong scandal, soccer scandal, and this example – people keep watching. It seems that unless fan bases demand integrity by their actions, this all will just continue. Bread and circuses….
You have a mixed bag there. If we the people wanted regulation in the NCAA, we would give the NCAA full regulatory power. Instead, the overwhelming narrative fed to us by monied interests is that the NCAA is evil. In reality, it’s just toothless like we want it to be. In the case of FIFA, the regulatory body itself is just corrupt.
In this case, I don’t think the story is quite what it should be. It explains that ATP is segmented in its regulatory responsibilities and suggests there is someone within that body who might be covering something up. I tend to believe the easiest answer is that some players were fixing, but the ATP couldn’t prove anything. And opening yourself up to libel or a defamation suit is not a good legal process.
If it blossoms into a story where there is someone in the ATP who is covering it up, I think that means that someone would be complicit. Because the only way I can see a reason to cover it up is if that someone is compensated. I think the real story is the revelation that there are many players who are or were fixing. And now that the Aussie has begun, it’s interesting to look at who might be distracted by it.

We’re the #12 play-in with Seton Hall. I think that’s a fair assessment since I’ve been watching them have a similar season to ours. I didn’t expect us to win either game this weekend as of last week. I saw the Ducks roll, and I got some hope. I saw us playing our game and ignoring everything bad going on around them… and I got a little more hope. Then the weirdest meltdown I’ve ever seen happened. And, in the end, they’re where I thought they’d be in the end anyway.
If they and the NCAA/Pac request/recommend two games, Tinks needs to come out and say, “No, three games.” And there needs to be counseling well beyond any suspension.

It lost the game for us too. That whole possession was a key one. We couldn’t let them score, and they were getting every call. I was surprised Reid wasn’t called for the clean block he got on Poeltl to set up the boneheadedness. After all, Poeltl put his giant shoulder in his chest and moved him a good four feet under the rim. That Reid got back to the ball before Poultl was a great play.
If he just shuts up and plays, we probably win. If you endure that kind of battle possession and win, why do you then lose on purpose?
Tinkles “prevent offense” helped put us in that situation. Refs were brutal.
I don’t disagree. He should have let them run and not let Poeltl get a chance to beat them. They were getting hammered by others with no calls as well. But at least they were still able to remain upright after contact.

That’s because he’s the unblocked end in the spread option. If that’s raw, then he’s very very coachable and athletic enough to do everything he’s told.

If the Reid thing didn’t happen, I would have talked about one of my biggest pet peeves in hoops. They’ve kinda corrected the no-step, blind pick. But that’s needs further clarification since it seems a lot of refs are calling the contact on the roll or concentrating only on the moving screens.
But the other is that Utah’s back court would get the ball into the front court and pass to each other. And the recipient of almost every single pass took a full step forward (left foot-right foot). Is there no such thing as traveling anymore? It was ridiculous.

I was amazed he wasn’t called, but the refs were calling so much on us they probably got tired.
He does it every once in a while. But the D has to be on him so quickly no matter where he is that he usually doesn’t have the space for it. And I’m not talking about running to the front court and stopping the run with that step (or any kind of running stop). I’d rather see a jump stop on those because the refs always lose track of the pivot on that move. They would pass it back and forth three or four times while just standing there and make that step on every play.
I swear on two passes in a row last night he took 3 steps after receiving the ball, then did it again a few minutes later.

Why doesn’t the “Reid thing” bother me that much? I get that he crossed an uncrossable line and he’s paying a price, but his action was kind of like someone toying with an annoying putz. You need to watch that play again. Poeltl clearly puts his shoulder and rolls his head into Reid’s right thigh when it was under him for support. But he is such a massive person that he’s rarely going to look like the pinball and out of control… except he is completely out of control and a threat to the safety of all around him and allowed to be so continually.
That play, if on the football field, would have been credited as a tackle.
I believe if Reid would have been poised he was due a make-up for that play alone. He wasn’t getting any from anyone on previous possessions. But Nunez the Legacy is the kind of ref who whistles mystery make-up calls. Instead, he goes from aggrieved victim to dastardly villain.

One was a college hockey fight, which is rare because they take safety seriously, where the ref had intervened and was between two players, holding one of them down. And the guy on top took advantage of this opportunity so he could rise over the ref and just clock the guy on the bottom.
And then they pooh-poohed Reid for tripping Nunez on the sly. I’m sorry. Punching someone, anyone in sports is the most abhorrent thing you can do… unless the sport is a martial art. But Reid touched the third rail.

Well I didn’t see any of the Utah game and finally heard about Reid yesterday.
Watched the replay. Definitely intentional. Real dumb move since it was a tie game at that point. Can’t lose your head like that. Reid embarrassed himself, the team and the fans. The 4 game suspension sounds right but I doubt he’ll be seeing much playing time after that anyways. It’s hard to see that his teammate will want him to keep playing when he committed a self inflicted wound at a critical time in the game. Hard to keep the trust of the team when you do something that dumb.
My advice to Reid, take the punishment and more. It’s going to take some time to rebuild the trust between you and your teammates.

So…. It’s not bias, just unidirectional incompetence? That’s a bit hard to believe.
It is the refs’ job to officiate a fair game, not be swayed by or placate the home crowd.
Had the team lost by 20+, sure, hard to blame the refs for that. But a close game when the rules each team gets to play by are different? If that can’t be blamed on the officials, what can? Don’t tell me they don’t affect game outcomes.
Ref’s should be unbiased. If they miss calls, it should be from both sides of the ball. I find it hard to believe that the home team always fouls less, which seems to be the case. Did Utah play a cleaner game? Are we too aggressive defensively? Will the aggressive team offensively usually get the calls? I would like to have someone go through the game, play by play, and do an impartial analysis to determine the amount of fouls that were missed by the ref’s and if there is a legitimate beef, then so-be-it. The other complicating factor is that they called the second half differently (apparently) then the first half. And, what about those times when they “let them play” verses times when they have to “take control”. It’s too complicated to make generalizations and say a foul is a foul, or is it. A foul is a foul, so call the foul. Be consistent at least. It was pretty obvious at the end of the game after the incident that we were not getting any more calls, and perhaps that is the most agregious part of the officiating- the retaliation, or no calls at the end of the game.
There is this from “Sonomabeav” over on the big O, Just passing it along without fact checking, but I do believe his figures match what I heard on the electric radio:
“Utah shot 21 Three point attempts out of 43 shots. Yet the Beavers were called for 24 fouls.
Oregon State shot 8 Three point attempts on 50 shots, and Utah was only called for 10 fouls – two of those at the very end of the game in order to burn clock. Beavs were at the rim all game long and shot 10 free throws.

See that’s the thing. it shouldn’t. Again I am not defending Jarmal. He was 100% in the wrong. But you could tell his frustration was building. If the game isn’t that poorly officiated, that event doesn’t happen. Or if Coach Tinkle realizes Reid is frustrated and subs him out. The tripping incident is solely on Reid. Nunez Jr has no business being a referee. There’s a reason he was fired by the NBA.

OK Oneoldbeav, so what the analysis is saying is that when you discount three point shots, Utah received 24 calls on 22 shots while Oregon State got 8 calls on 42 non-three point shots. And, that’s the disparity. I guess OSU just hacks a lot more…. ?!?
What I’d like someone to do is go through the replays and count the non-fouls, bad calls etc. to see how well it was called. There appears to be a disparity, just by the sheer numbers, but that does not prove anything. What you really have to do is analyze a number of games to rate the ref’s, which was done prior to Nunez getting fired from the NBA.
That shot-foul disparity is interesting but you have to remember that a foul called in a missed shot doesn’t get recorded in the attempt-make category. Otherwise a team with 20+fts would have a seriously low outlier on their fg%. Not that I don’t agree that refs can be very onesided, just some context for that foul count relative to fgs near the rim.

The numbers to look for would be the fouls on the floor where they simply retained possession or received bonus shots.
And we know that one foul had nothing to do with their offense, so we can safely change the 24 to 23.
There are three teams on the floor and they all have to be at their best level of performance for a competitive game. A culling process keeps the lesser coaches and players out of the game. For two teams it is purely a performance-based level of play that allows them to be on the court. The trouble is that the third team on the floor is not necessarily on the court because they are the best players.
It’s the worst thing about basketball, and the main reason people give for not liking to watch basketball. The refs have too much control over the outcome of a game. Refs are allowed to be subjective and biased, in fact it is expected. You hear it all the time from commentators. They talk about rookie players who aren’t going to get a certain call because they haven’t gained the respect like more veteran players. The fact that the Beavers got even less calls after Reid’s indiscretion is a blatant example of refs being allowed to officiate a game based on their emotions. Making a mistake is an acceptable part of any game, but intentionally not making a call or making a bad call undermines the complete intention of competitive sports. May the best team win? Yeah, right.

California senior point guard Tyrone Wallace will miss four to six weeks with a broken bone in his right hand.
A school spokesman told ESPN that Wallace suffered the injury Saturday in practice.
The 6-foot-5 Wallace leads the team in scoring (15.4) and assists (4.6) and is averaging 5.1 rebounds per game. He will be replaced in the starting lineup by reserve Sam Singer, who is averaging 4.1 points and 2.0 assists in 19 minutes per game this season.
The Bears had high expectations entering the season, with a returning group that included Wallace, Jordan Mathews and Jabari Bird and added two of the top 10 recruits in Jaylen Brown and Ivan Rabb.

The Reid tripping incident gave me a sick feeling and until now I haven’t visited this website since then.
It gave me a sick feeling because imo this will be in the back of the minds of the refs and the Pac-12 officials for who knows how long, probably years. When a call could go either way this incident might have an effect on the decision making process.
I just jumped to the bottom of this thread so I’m unaware of what punishment has been meted out but find myself wondering how much of the blame lays at the feet of WT.
In great part the team reflects the coach’s attitude and composure so was Reid’s action in a way encouraged by WT’s behavior?
I haven’t sat behind the OSU bench during a game so I don’t know how much WT complains to the officials during a game but I have heard Mike Parker mention that WT was yelling at the official(s) about a call or a lack of a call. If WT is getting on the officials a lot during a game that has to influence the attitude of the players. He might be justified in being upset but how much steam does he let off and when’s the proper time to do it?
IF he does complain a lot (too much perhaps? or too strongly?) maybe he’s already on the officials shit list and that might explain why the calls weren’t the same for both teams.
I saw at least on occasion where Reid was yapping at an official about a call that was made and it looked to me like he wasn’t doing himself a lot of good and more than likely pissing the official off. It seems to me like it’s WT’s job to tell the kid STFU and play basketball.
Perhaps this incident is proof that OSU needs to pop for a sports psychologist and their first job would be to evaluate WT and his team regarding how productive or unproductive their behavior on the court is.
Now every time there’s a call against the Beavs I’ll find myself wondering it’s a result of the Reid incident.

It was a very stupid mistake. Reid was suspended by Tinkle for a min of 4 games, and his attitude over the course of the next 2 weeks will determine if he will be suspended longer. Seems appropriate. He didn’t cold cock the guy.
Being small market, little old OSU we basically always have to play against the stripes anyways, in almost all sports. I doubt this Reid debacle will get us less calls, as we already have the worst refereeing.
No. Every coach yells at refs. Nunez was beating Reid with a proxy. Poeltl will not do this at the next level. If he tries that shit in the NBA, the men who play against him will not let it get to a point where it’s the ref’s fault.
That was when Poeltl elbowed Reid in the face. Poeltl was just out of control for most of the game. Reid was informing the ref that a head shot was taken. Nunez should have stopped the game and gone to the replay. He did not do that.
It would be unprofessional of any refs to let this color their calls in the future. So yes, about half the Pac refs will likely keep it in mind.

For the sake of discussion – as my wife keeps telling me [it’s not what you say, it’s how you say it] so I’m wondering how dignified WT is when he’s arguing his case. Which leads to the following

Lots of variables here and I don’t know if the time I’m thinking of is when Reid got elbowed in the face but it very well might have been considering how upset Reid was. In the instance I’m thinking of, to me Reid had a look on his face that was challenging and threatening to the ref that he was jawing at and I’d be willing to bet he didn’t use the word sir once.
I don’t think he said hey MF’er why didn’t you call that? but that’s the facial expression I saw on his face.
On the other hand I don’t think he said, sir can you check my face to see if I’m bleeding from that elbow shot he gave me to the face?
Should Tinkle insist that his players call the refs sir when they address them?
If a ref doesn’t like how someone speaks to them, they should tell that person to stop then T them up if it contniues. Being a ref does not come before being an adult… especially when they’re the ones who are supposed to be the adults on the floor. If they can’t be professional, then what does that say to you other than, “They can’t be professional”?
Reid didn’t get a T for the glare, something I’ve seen many times because some words had been exchanged before. And his hands were up in his pleading mode. He looked nothing like a menace at any point in that instance. And his “whaaaa???” face is nothing to be feared. So I don’t remember anything of which you speak other than the Great Ref Trippin’ of 2016.
I don’t have replay to look at so I’m just going from memory which isn’t saying much. So I very well could be remembering it wrong.
Should WT insist that his players call the refs sir when talking to them? I’m thinking that might be good all around, if you know what I mean.

Also in non-Nunez related bad officiating: Colorado’s Bigs got away with everything too. For how aggressive they were being, theres no way only 5 fouls should have been split between them.
The CU bigs were moving people with their legs. There was one over the back that should have been called. But moving people off their base with your base is completely fine. That’s the way it should be played. Safety doesn’t become an issue.
Poeltl was upright on D, but he shuffled from side to side, never establishing position. And then he would get a no-call for dropping someone to the floor. And on offense he was all elbows and shoulders. He was just out of control.
Stanford was just grabbing and pulling and pushing… and whining about us not letting them do so more efficiently.
