8pm. This will be the third straight game on ESPNU. So far that channel hasn’t treated the Beavs well.
What I see is a team that’s young and somewhat clueless what it takes to win vs good opponents. They got by Oregon on adrenaline, and I think Cal was an instance of feeding off the home crowd and taking out some of that bad Stanford loss. But I don’t see a team bringing their own emotions and energy to a game, night in/night out, and that’s the problem. They’re also a bad road team, just like last year.
Tinkle showed some major warts on that road trip, especially with his lineup/rotation at the end of the game. Olaf out there, and Olaf taking key shots? That just can’t happen under any circumstance (i.e. even if he makes the shots). As a coach, you don’t want and can’t have your worst players taking key shots at the end of games.
Go Beavs!
OT, but we all assumed Chip Kelly was an east coast guy. Apparently not.
but some of us also stated he was NOT coming back to the college game. We were right on that one. I’m kinda surprised the Forty Whiners took a gamble on him. But Kaepernick is exactly the kind of QB his system needs. Could turn out to be a good fit for both.
Chip failed b/c of QB play (also pretty bad D, but the QB play was the bigger problem).
Makes me wonder about GA. As I wrote in earlier posts, it seems the one way these great coaches fail is if they can’t get a QB match early in their tenure.
Not that I think Hoke is a great coach, but I remember BeavGopher saying he never found a QB at Michigan, and that was a primary reason he failed, too.
Why he traded Nick Foles for Sam Bradford I will never understand
Agreed, Foles was a better fit and played well from what I saw.
Chip went all in on Bradford because Nick Foles sucks really bad. Did you look at his numbers this year in St. Louis? I mean seriously the guy is a joke. He got benched for Case Keenum, and even when Keenum was concussed, they elected to leave him in the game for fear of having to play Foles.
On the year, Foles completed 56% of his passes with 7 tds and 10 picks. All of this with teams loading the box to stop Gurley.
So Foles has a bad year after getting traded to St Louis? Go look at his stats the previous two years in Philly
I guess it’s not fair to say he failed. He was 26-21 and did make the playoffs 1 of 3 years. Finished 1st or 2nd in the conference every year. For Chip that’s mediocre/failure, but objectively it’s not bad. Eagles probably should have given him another year or two..I mean that is not a bad resume. Just one bad year, and most of that was on the Bradford gamble, which could have been remedied quickly.
It wasn’t just Bradford. It was all of his moves as GM. Trading away Shady (who fit the system) and overpaying DeMarco. Cutting Mathis. Making Riley Cooper a key part of the “culture”. The dude is just clueless when it comes to people skills. I think he will be ok in SF since it is just a coaching gig.
Agreed. He went 10-6 the first two seasons. It just so happened 10-6 wasn’t good enough to make the playoffs last year. I think this year was more of a head scratcher for Philly ownership. How are they good enough to beat the Patriots in Foxboro but bad enough to get blown out by the Buccaneers? Also the NFC least was an awful division this year and ownership was probably pissed they couldn’t win it. I think he should have been given more time as well. Also Kelly’s micromanagement does not go over well with the professional overpaid primal donnas. He’s gonna have to tone that shit down in SF
Golly, 26-21’s a great record! Can I get 26 hip hips?
Who said it’s great? He was 20-12 after the first two years, which is very good for the NFL. It’s just odd to fire him after 1 bad year.
Seeing Reports that Kaep has been traded to the Cleveland Browns for Jonny Douchbag and their 6th round pick.
I think that is fake.
Yeah, it’s a hoax. Carry on. Wasn’t logged in so can’t edit. Whoops
They can’t. Kaep had surgery in late November with a 4-6 month recovery time. Four months puts the best case scenario (for the team) at the last week in March. His contract is injury protected, which means they can’t trade or cut him until he is cleared by doctors. On April 1 his contract kicks in for a big chunk of change for being on the roster.
I’m thinking his rehab will take at least four months and a week.
Also some have reported that Kelly wanted Kaepernick which was a reason he wanted the job. Mike Shanahan wanted nothing to do with him and wanted to trade him. Which allegedly was the reason the 49ers went with Kelly. If true it appears the 49ers have zero intentions of trading or releasing Kaepernick.
Anyone who saw Kaepernick go head to head against Gabbert in Reno would realize that at one point in time, Gabbert was the superior runner and passer. At least a for one day, this was a real eye opener.
Angry per your comments on the lineups
Tinkle said he expects to stay with Gomis in the starting lineup after replacing freshman Drew Eubanks with Gomis at the center position against Utah. The coach hinted that there could be other “tweaks” as well.
Recent offensive results could point to several positions for possible changes.
http://www.gazettetimes.com/sports/beavers-sports/basketball/osu-men-s-basketball-beavers-facing-adversity-head-on/article_553103bf-2736-55f5-908e-3e652ba9567d.html
I’m on the fence about that. Eubanks has been awful in conference play, but it seems like a confidence problem he needs to work through. I’d almost rather see Eubanks and Gomis and just bench Olaf. Olaf plays ZERO D and constantly is standing around. His 3 point barrages every here and there don’t make up for those deficiencies. At least Eubanks plays D, and can theoretically contribute on O if he gets confidence back.
I hope Stevie keeps improving his on-ball defense. It was atrocious early on, now he’s adjusting and that’s good. If he keeps improving it he should be good to go. He’s already a better defender than Roberto Nelson ever was (and I loved Berto overall). I think he should get 20 minutes minimum, but I’ve been thinking he’s been starter quality since the first scrimmage.
I could see Tinkle starting Tres tonight. Matchup wise, it makes sense. UCLA is a potent offensive team, and we can’t be giving up easy buckets to Tony Parker and Thomas Welsh because of slow ass rotations by our 4. Although Welsh is a lethal mid-range shooter, I’d live with a hand in his face over him moseying his way all the way to the rim for a dunk.
Also, we should see Derrick Bruce again tonight. He had to sit out a couple games. We’re definitely gonna need him against USC.
If Gomis starts, Cheikh should be in there. I think Cheikh is gonna be someone we need because he’s a matchup problem on both ends. His length and defensive anchorship has been good, and he’s been able to finish inside lately.
Like backing up Gomis directly, just because Eubanks isn’t really a defensive linchpin at the moment. We would need two bigs in at the same time usually in the middle of the game anyway.
OT: Interesting quote from Telly Lockette (Beavs RB coach):
“There’s no off days. Once you get that mindset that we’re 2-10 and that don’t sit well with the head man, there’s not gonna be a lot of voluntary stuff around here. If you can get my drift. We’re gonna work. Got no other choice.”
http://www.oregonlive.com/beavers/index.ssf/2016/01/telly_lockette_oregon_state_ru.html#incart_river_index
With the number of players the Beavs have at RB I’d like to see Nall moved to either TE or LB (preferably LB) and Lucas moved back to receiver.
I don’t know about that. Nall looks like he can be a 1,500 yard rusher. And Lucas is an explosive hybrid who I imagine will line up all over the field.
Can you imagine having a Game Manager like Garretson under center with Nall and Collins in the backfield. Lucas motioning across the field for fly sweep then going out for a slot pattern with a couple beasts like Villamin on the outside. Difficult offense to defend.
No way should they move Nall. Did you watch the same CW as I did? Hes the guy you put in to punish the Dline and LBs then break out the speed guys to change the pace. Lucas should be used like Collins minus the QB passing part. He could be dangerous almost anywhere.
Yeah you’re out of your mind.
Nall is right where he belongs.
This is awkward: http://www.oregonlive.com/recruiting/index.ssf/2016/01/oregon_state_beavers_3-star_lb.html
It depends. If Turnier was the offer, then I’m good. If the coaches really wanted someone else but couldn’t crunch the numbers, they have to tell the uncommitted affected that they have someone they want and can bring on board now.
But I wouldn’t tell him not to go visit other schools. That’s weird.
I’ve seen in recently, comments that the whole verbal commitment thing is a waste but I’ve never thought of it in this way: if a recruit keeps his options open, then those options may go away. So, there is some value in a verbal commitment assuming that “honoring a commitment” still has meaning today.
Interesting to see Himphill might lose his scholly offer from Andersen. I think a lot of people were bashing the Ducks for their policy of pulling scholly offers if a commit decides to visit other schools. Looks like OSU now has a similar policy. The kid is talented and deserves any opportunity that presents itself, but I sure would like to see him as a Beav.
Te article makes it sound like they need to know now so that they can pursue other guys.
Says in the article that Andersen was a straight shooter the whole time, and that Himphill really respects him for it.
Andersen said he needs to know if he’s committed within the next 2 days or there’s another LB they are going to give his offer to due to space left in the class..
There’s only 2 weeks left and we only have a couple roster spots, so it sounds perfectly reasonable to me.
Certainly. This isn’t Andersen’s first rodeo. He doesn’t want to be left with the short end of the stick on signing day. Commitment is a two way street. I wonder if I can come up with more metaphors…?
Himphill is more worried about how many offers he picks up, then actually committing to a program. That just screams me, myself and i, and not team. They give him a time frame to commit, I say good, there are other guys out there that can fill the role.
He probably just wants to explore new options that are opening right at the same time the Beavs need to know who’s on board. Sitake leaving probably didn’t help. The fact he was a silent commit does lend credence that he was never solid with the Beavs and always looking for something better. Bottom line is you don’t want guys who don’t want to be there, so it’s probably for the best, even though he does look like a very good player.
But he also took a trip to see Clune at USU, so he has a relationship there. Seems like a wash with the Sitake deal.
Not sure it’s about trying to see how many offers he can get. I think it’s more like he wasn’t sure what schools would offer him so he committed to the Beavs early so he was assured at least one offer from a power 5 school. Now that other schools are offering he realizes he has more than one opportunity. My guess is there’s a bit of salesmanship going on on both sides. But if Himphill does go on other visits he must be pretty confident that he’ll get a scholly from a school that was higher on his hope list than the Beavs.
I understand what you’re saying. The only reason I said what I did, is because of a tweet about a month ago, I turned me off on him. I looked a little for it but didn’t find it. It was basically a comment on how many offers he could get, and for other schools to step up and offer him. It just seemed wierd, I don’t know maybe I’m reading into it too much.
I see. A tweet like that would give me a similar impression. But then a lot of tweets from high school kids could use a bit more thought before hitting the Tweet button :)
Some questions for the group which have been baffling me all year:
How is it that a coach like Tinkle, who (unlike CR) really DOES seem to understand the game so well and who obviously knows about big men, is so ignorant about Olaf’s skills inside?
What has anyone ever seen which would lead anyone to think Reid playing center would be a “good” idea? Dude is clearly not a good defender, can’t jump, not a shot blocker and not a very good rebounder. What is coach seeing in him that we’re not?
I don’t think I’m imagining that I once read that Olaf was a Rupp project and the coaching staff wanted to try to use him inside. I don’t know why it hasn’t seemed to work out.
The only thing more irritating than Olaf’s offense inside, is his D…….if he actually played any
Any of you Seattle folks watching the game somewhere tonight?
Way off topic but can someone recommend me a hotel in Vegas. I’m headed down for a convention with my wife and another couple. Trying to get our money’s worth. Looking on the strip, the convention is at Madalay Bay, but they are booked out.
Is the Delano booked? Mandalay’s sister hotel thats attached? Non smoking, super nice, no casino but 5 min hallway walk to Mandalay.
How old are you and what do you guys like to do?
Yup booked out.
I’m 37. I like long walks on the beach……….at sunset….
Seriously thou, we decided to figure it out when we show up, as far as site seeing and shows and thing. We’ll be there Wednesday to Friday, not a lot of time, but Thursday is book at the convention it’s going to be cool. But I’m open for any suggestions on things to do. We’re a laid back group so almost anything can be cool. By that I mean strip clubs to Celine Dion.
Been a bunch and have stayed all over the place. Bellagio, Wynn, and Ceasars are nice but expensive as shit and you need to have upper echelon gambling status to get good treated like you matter.
As issiquah said Planet Hollywood is probably best value for on strip, and its litterally in the middle.
Wife and I probably dig the vibe at NYNY the most. Loud music, good energy. Piano bar at time square is almost always a good time with great people watching. 9 fine Irishmen is right there for Kells on steroids, both little or no cover.
Ever stay at the Luxor? I was told to book a room in the tower, it’s nicer. And we can walk across the street to the convention.
Have but not since being over 21, so can’t really remember rooms. I’m sure they’re fine. Will be convienent for you as it’s connected to Mandalay as well. In Vegas years it’s kind of old as its one of the first that went up in the late 90’s when building started going crazy and the strip started expanding.
Should be able to get an economical room and it is a super convienent location for your convention so a good option. for food if you like small plates La Cave at Wynn is awesome. Mon Ami Gabi Is a good lunch spot with great people watching (restaurant on the strip at Paris).
Have fun. If you gamble: Hope you win! Have fun.
I got to Vegas 3x year. Planet Hollywood is awesome; great vibe, decent rates and center of Strip. In terms of value, Ballys is best bet on the Strip in terms of location. Just stated at The LINQ which was okay. Monte Carlo is closer to Mandalay Bay and affordable, too.
Stay away from the Exalibur, though. Too many damn kids.
Funny you’re like the 4th person who has said that exact thing about Excalibur.
Want to impress the wife? Try a bit farther south. Cabins at Caleta Gonzalo, Parque Pumalin, Patagonia. No internet, no tv, no need. Ask the chef to make caldillo de congrio (eel soup) for dinner or ask the ranch hands to show you how to catch robalo in the fjord. No frills but quality with a capital Q.
How far south of Vegas is that? Wife loves the casinos so it might be a hard sell. But that sounds perfect to me.
You can tell her is just off the strip, when you board the plane. ;)
Beavs playing horrible
How many traveling violations has Tony Parker gotten away with? Also Isaac Hamilton has a really nice shooting stroke.
Noticed the same with Parker. It seems you have to take four steps these days to get called for walking.
Hamilton really does. Serving up facials in no mans land, hitting some tough shots.
I’ve watched UCLA a few times this year and other than the Arizona game they almost coughed up a couple weeks ago, I don’t think I’ve seen them shoot this well. Yikes
Result of our poor defense.
I see flashes of last year’s defense but it’s not being sustained.
Beavers need to flip a switch in this second half. UCLA seems to be hitting everything, hopefully they’ll cool off some. Good to see LMW and Duvivier help the team on O, at least a little bit. OSU offense is painful to watch sometimes.
How many more games until Olaf makes a FG? He didn’t last game either. But he makes up for it by not playing D
Lol. Sad but true
On cue!
Fucla not liking the calls. Gee, what’s that like??
The BWBs can lay the ball in better than the beaver men. I swear our lay-up percentage must be the same as UCLA’s 3 pt percentage
Yeah, agreed. I’m starting to get angry watching this team.
what about free throws???? Granted I haven’t been paying attention to the game in its entirety but the only one I’ve seen make one is Olaf
Players have a giant curtain of distraction in their head at the line
But at least we don’t get back after the latest missed layin so they can have an uncontested three. Were even getting the calls for once. It would be nice if we’d take advantage and not play brain dead
If we could make some free throws, we’d be right in this game. 7-15 so far. Miss front end of 2 one-and-ones the first half. Duvivier bricks two in the second half. Jesus, I cannot understand how a D-1 player can’t shoot 70% at the line.
This team stinks.
and it’s gonna be real tough after this weekend considering the beavs will play 7 of the remaining 11 conference games away from Gill.
http://www.osubeavers.com/SportSelect.dbml?&DB_OEM_ID=30800&SPID=127160&SPSID=750187
Could this year be worse than last year? At least we beat the quacks
I’m really afraid it might be. We could have a similar overall record again :(
We were pretty tough at home last year. Not so this year. These guys are playing really, really bad tonight. The look like an NAIA school out there.
and Alford drains one from about 30′. This just isn’t the Beavs night. Sadly this appeared to be the easier of the two games. After liking the chances of a home sweep this weekend I’m thinking right now its going to be home swept. I don’t get it. This team played very well in the opener against the ducks and has not even played close to that since.
Really bad at rebounding…and FTs.
And layups
defense in general is poor this year
9-19 from the line? That’s a disgrace. Even Deondre Jordan is shaking his head
Some dude for the Pisstons managed to miss 23 FT’s in a game tonight. You wanna talk about a screw job? Pistons shoot 59 free throws in the game, Houston shoots 18. Yeah that’s an evenly called game.
http://espn.go.com/nba/recap?gameId=400828522
They were intentionally fouling a LOT
They intentionally fouled Detroit 5 times in the first 9 seconds of the 4th quarter with a bench scrub, just to get into the bonus so they could make Drummond shoot free-throws the rest of the quarter.
NBA, it’s fantastic
This is just a WTF??? Washington St managed to beat these guys in Pullman and USC absolutely butt fucked them last week at Pauley. I know they beat Kentucky and Arizona at home. But really? To lay this fucking clunker in a game you had to have???? Oh well, baseball starts next month. Can we curb that NCAA tourney talk now. Shit NIT might be a stretch at this point.
At least we won’t have to worry about if we’re snubbing the CBI again or not, since we might not even get invited at this rate.
Then again, I say accept a CBI bid as punishment for underachieving.
This is as poor of an effort as I’ve seen of Tinkle’s team. All around shit, looking like a CR team. Can’t pass, shoot, or rebound. What’s the deal?
I agree. I’d rather see them play slow it down again and focus on D than watch this shit show. Winning ugly is better than this
This sucks, why did I book the pac12 tourney?
At least you didn’t book the NCAA tourney
I mean I get it, UCLA isn’t a bad team, but to get run out of your own fucking gym? Have a little heart. What the fuck is this team going to look like next year when GPII is only a memory?
Sign of the team that Olaf logs as many minutes as he does. He’s supposed to be this long-range sharp shooter, and he’s not even very good at that. Even on his open, squared up shots. Won’t be sorry to see him move along. His defense is comical.
it would be comical if he played defense
I never thought I would say this, but this team is becoming unwatchable, I turned the game off with 4 minutes to play. How are Top 100 Freshmen so overmatched? Fuck recruiting services, they aren’t worth a shit. I would tell Tinkle to scrap what he’s trying to do and go back to last year’s style of play, but that quit working after Victor Robbins fucked up. I’m at a loss here.
Can’t shoot tonight- and can’t blame the ref’s.
Maybe GP2 can trip Olaf :p
Maybe this team is saving themselves for the Pac-12 tourney. Playin possum
Sorry, P12 tourney Bracketology saw this game has us listed as the first team out
P12 tourney bracketology? LMAO! Scotty you dream up shit even I don’t. And my brain is pretty fucked up. Nicely done sir
I think CR’s worst league record was 4-14, maybe 5-13. I’m looking at the schedule and wondering where 2 or 3 more wins come from based on what I’ve seen lately.
12-24 on FT’s. I’m not blaming this loss on that though as UCLA was up 18 late and went into run clock mode. Final score was not indicative of how badly the Beavs got outplayed. I’d scrap whatever practice is planned for tomorrow and work on D, fundamentals and FT’s. This team is just not good right now. These heralded frosh appear to have hit the proverbial freshman wall. Especially Eubanks. I’m at a complete loss right now. I got nothin. Maybe we need a live chicken (bucket of kfc) and have an exorcism in the locker room
I guess I’m trying to figure out how you don’t lose anybody, but you are so much worse at defense. Should WT start Gomis, GP, LMW, Duvivier and who the hell knows (I guess Tres) and play slow down and use the freshmen less?
Gomis needs to break his other hand and be out the rest of the season. He’s doing nothing for the Beavs except foul and fumble passes.
Get Rueck to guest-coach layups. Let the BWBs mentor them. Bonus: If one of them hits it off with GP2 we can have GP3 save us in another couple decades
yeah, and some of those misses were front end of 1-and-1’s. UCLA 18-22, which is what a good team should do. Anybody ever watch any OSU practices? Are free throws a regular part of the practice sessions? This ain’t the first time OSU has laid an egg at the FT line.
Here’s the deal, we have 2 freshman who were huge signings for us, but neither are anything close to the caliber of talent that UCLA is able to reload every year.
We have a ton of work to do to get better.
Payton Jr will mask some of it for a few more games. But make no mistake, Tinkle has a MASSIVE undertaking ahead of him in order to produce any sort of consistent winner in this conference.
And what about the fucking Huskie’s? They have got a bunch high tempo rim rockers, what was their recruiting class? Down one year, now back up the next and getting better every game.
Then you do what Dick Bennett did in Pullman and play slow it down, bring a pillow to the game type basketball. It works and it’s proven.
Edit: Although in theory it’s probably tougher now that the shot clock has been reduced to 30 seconds
It seemed like they valued possessions and got better shots last year. I’m kind of feeling like the nightmare of the two groups of players not jelling is coming true. I had a decent opinion of Bruce and then he was just bizarre when he was in the game and when will Thompson Jr. start burying open threes? He’s getting “Olaf Syndrome”.
Really poor perimeter passing this game–slow and lazy–instead of zipping it around for open looks. When they do get an open look from 18-22 ft. they’re missing way too many. Got to hit a good percentage on uncontested shots. No offense in the paint to speak of, except for the slash to the basket or chip shot put-back off an offensive rebound. Lol when Olaf got an open lane to the basket in the second half, he put the ball on the floor, then stopped, got tentative as the defense collapsed on him, then turned the ball over on a travel. If he’d of gone up strong from 8′ he’d of scored, but he didn’t have any confidence to do that, it didn’t look like. Idk, tough game to watch, they were really bad tonight. I hate to see this team waste GP II’s senior season by disappearing into the bottom feeder ranks of the Pac-12.
I must have missed what Eubanks did wrong other than not get enough playing time.? He is the only low post threat we have and is probably our best rebounder and interior defender.. Tinkle needs to get Stevie and Eubanks in the starting lineup, and run some sets for them early on to get them going. Both of those guys are the ex-factors that had this team looking dangerous to start the season. Right now they both (Stevie more-so) get in the game off the bench and seem to be pressing..just trying to make something happen.
IF Tinks gets hip and starts and plays this lineup to start and down the stretch I think we can get things turned around
GP2
Stevie
Tinkle
Gomis
Eubanks
Bench Rotation In order of minutes :
Duvivier
LMW
Reid ( when back)
Olaf
Ndyaie
I like that line-up.
Sounds like I made a wise decision and went to bed, rather than watch the second half.
This reminds me of the Brady Hoke transition at Michigan. He decided to play a different style of offense because he had a superstar in Robinson that was perfect for Rich Rods style. The delayed transition killed him on the back end. One reason I think GA did the right thing. Take your medicine early. Tinkles team is kind of in purgatory as far as style of play. They are not really good at anything. He should go all in with the frosh and give the other minutes to the seniors, otherwise next year will be real ugly.
Hey Beavers, I know we had some Freaky Friday voodoo going on switching me and Wayne last night, but don’t worry. We just need to impose our will more and great things will be in store.
And if I get fired from my broadcasting gig, you can have this level of coaching full time!
Looks like a lock for the highly prestigious CBI Tournament.
Beavs pay $35000 to host a couple of post season games. Who can ever forget that Western Illinois team that only sent seven players and their coach had “other engagements” and didn’t make the trip. Good times. JB
The coach didn’t show? I don’t remember that….wow.
Don’t have anything good to say about bball right this second, so on to the next:
We have 24 commits right now. Seems like everyone is solid with the exception of Finau and maybe the Turnier Kid, but only because our coaches spotted him and now he’s blowing up last second?
So what happens now? Seems like we’re still in the running for some high profile athletes. How many potential mission kids are there? Just Finau? Seems like the only one who could get bumped to Grey Shirt Status is Emony Robinson? So we could have up to 3 spots available? I guess it’s a good problem to have, but it would be tough to have to tell a kid who committed early and has been dedicated to the program that we’ve gotten some better prospects so they’ll have to wait to enroll.
That JC receiver kid (I forgot his name) out of Arizona is a pre qualifier. So I believe he doesn’t count on this recruiting class….correct? And I think we had 2 mission kids.
The Early Enrollees were:
Trevon Bradford (WR)
Timmy Hernandez (JC WR/DB)
Mason Moran (QB)
Phillip Napolean (JC DE)
Shemar Smith (LB)
Kyle White (JC RB)
I assume your talking about Timmy Hernandez, and Mama has him listed as a part of the 2016 class. Doug Taumoelau is the only other high school Polynesian in this class. Riley Sharp is from Utah also? For all the talk we only have a handful of polynesians/Utah kids this cycle.
Hernandez is correct, but I thought he qualified out of high school and only played 1 year at JC (no red shirt either), meaning he COULD qualify on the previous year? I may be mistaken.
Don’t over think this recruiting thing. It’s not that complicated.
All you do is wait until the weekend before, in this case January 30-31. Call the Idaho, Wyoming and San Jose State verbal committs and offer them a chance to play in the Pac-10..err 12. About half will flip. Problem solved. Also costs next to nothing. Worked well for me…sort of. JB
Gee, that’s not very nice. I like locking up those two-star recruits before Idaho can land them. It’s neighborly and carried me to a hip hip hooray every other game… Not to mention a lifetime contract. Boy, what a neat deal!
Nah, go East, young man. North Dakota State’s Carson Wentz looking like #1 quarterback in this year’s NFL draft – level of competition being his only drawback.
“AAU hoops has been blamed in the past for separating athletes from their traditional high school coaches, thereby creating a sometimes-unsavory recruiting environment.” And now it comes to football?
“One source said Nike is choosing not to make a splashy announcement of its new seven-on-seven league”
What? The swooshmeisters NOT wanting publicity??
http://www.cbssports.com/collegefootball/writer/dennis-dodd/25457003/nike-set-to-launch-a-national-seven-on-seven-football-league
off topic but this made me laugh my ass off. Only in Portland
“Twice suspended for marijuana use during his NBA career”
http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/14621057/cliff-robinson-open-marijuana-business-called-uncle-spliffy
This is amazing. I used to call him that anyways.
Uncle Spliffy. LOL
“I’d like to see more playing time for 7-foot junior center Cheikh N’diaye, who had four points in the first half against UCLA, but played just one minute in the second half.”
Thank you, Gary Horowitz, who knows infinitely more about basketball strategy than I do, but it seems to me that Tinkle seems to almost have a grudge re: N’diaye.
I don’t get than either. He looks pretty good to me.
N’diaye has more FG’s than Olaf the last two games (not something to brag THAT much about lol) but he plays solid fundamental D and can alter a lot of shots if you watch closely. The difference in the middle on defense when he’s in there, compared to Reid/Olaf, is like night and day.
I really don’t get the deal with Tinkle when it comes to N’Diaye. All he does is produce when he’s given an opportunity. He’s helped turn games around for OSU when they needed some interior presence in the paint defensively. He can protect the rim and he actually does have a nice looking 15 foot jumper, but for whatever reason, he is given zero freedom on the court. He’s been pulled numerous times this season when he’s playing great and then doesn’t touch the floor again. Gomis’ hand still seems like it’s bothering him and he’s hesitant to bang in the paint. N’Diaye is this team’s best center and the only big guy on the team right now who looks like he has a clue defensively.
Tinkle will have the longest hook for some guys and the quickest hook of all time for others. He’s having a strange season as a coach and has looked bad in conference play. The zone has turned to shit and he’s really stubborn about making a change. Really hope N’Diaye is given more freedom and more playing time, he has definitely earned it
It’s because he gets out of position as the rim protector. He needs to stay home and jump straight up for blocks. He’ll get caught a step out, and that takes him out of rebounding position. Or he’ll stretch for the shot at the point of attack instead of jumping straight up and playing the percentages.
He does seem to me to be the one bttb player who knows how to play the glass. But he usually gets the ball where he plays straight on. And he has a soft touch. But that’s also a lower percentage shot.
He’s grown better over the year and will get time down the stretch. I think he has a ton of upside. But he has to be willing to play vanilla ball. Hoops honks will notice if or when he does.
True…..but even at his worst on D….he remains infinitely more effective than the Olaf/Reid abomination
Oh, and explain to me, please, why it was that we were waiting for Gomis?
His hands of stone will come in handy if / when an on court brawl breaks out. Plus he can whine to the refs in multiple languages.
Gomis can play SOME defense and isn’t a bad rebounder. BUT MAAAAN…..its like he gets called for a foul in the locker room during the pre-game talk.
Yeah, like him crashing into the 3 pt. shooter out on the wing after the guy had already missed the shot?
Geez that was indeed stupid. Granted so is playing a scheme that requires someone like him to guard a player 25 feet from the hoop
Thanks, all, for your learned, funny comments. Re: the short chain and the long one – why do I think of CR doing that? although I’d rather not. GP2 to N’Diaye at the hoop for 2 points was one of the few easy-looking plays all night in the UCLA game. I think N did muff one easy one, but if that’s the bar, Olaf should be sitting as well (except for the one long, on-target pass).
Are the football visitors going to the USC mbb game?
Very depressing this week between the underperforming BB team, fading recruits and the 3″ of rain.
I did see UW coach, Chris Peterson, at the grocery store this afternoon here in Bellevue. He was with his wife but you could tell he was uncomfortable being out in public. Most everyone in the store recognized him. He got into his Audi Q5 which had Husky plates. No doubt related to his vehicle allowance.
Does Petersen EVER look comfortable? He always looks nervous to me, like that Buscemi guy
He looks like that dude off Justified, Boyd I think his characters name is.
Years ago my wife and I were waiting to be seated at BJ’s on coburg road and Chip Kelly was in there waiting for a to go order. I looked up at him, he looked up at me and gave me a “please don’t spaz the fuck out” look. I nodded at him, he nodded at me, and we went about our days.
He was probably just worried someone would take his food away
WHOREgon just beat #21 USC 89-81 Amazing how the world flips when Reid tripped a referee, yet a coach who plays a bunch of rapists, allows UO students to take exams for his players… gets rewarded with coach of the year award and everyone sings Altmans praises? It gives an entirely new meaning to win at all costs.
They’re a corporate, for-profit entity with no regulations. Why are we surprised when the end product and profit are all rewarded in this society? Yes, they are a stain on the humanities. But they’re not a for-humanities entity.
Good news! UO AD, Rob Mullens, named to College Football Playoff Selection Committee. Sigh.
Great. As if Whoregon needed any more help buying their way into the playoff! I’m curious how much Phil had to pay to get Rob Mullens on the selection committee? Let’s all hope the d*cks start imploding back to mediocrity, or else Rob will “find a way” to get them in. Beavers need to play the spoiler, that will keep them out as well!
Did they have more than 1 spot to fill? I thought Carr from Michigan was a shoe in.
I read that he’ll be kept out of any decisions involving whether the Ducks get into the top 4, but I still can’t help but feel it’s a major conflict of interest to have a currently standing AD be part of the committee. I feel the same way about Pat Haden having been a former member, too.
He’ll lobby for his team if they’re viable because that’s his job. Having better access with which to lobby is par for the course. I would rather see Chris Hill represent the Pac. He probably understands the West better than any other veteran admin. Then I would look to Moos. And then I think Mullens would be my pick over Guerrerro.
1. I got sucked in with early season promise and the win against Oregon so these BB loses are killing me.
2. SF 49ers are a regional team so I have supported them over eastern teams in the past. Hiring Kelly has changed this for me. I really think the guy is up there with Bellupchuck for being a cheating asshole. I loved the “I just want to coach” and collect $25 million. I’m looking forward to watching the fat man talk out of the side of his mouth both literally and figuratively…not.
I would be happy if he went to Dallas, I could double my hate.
Hate is more efficient that way.
This is why I was hesitant to hop on the hype-train last season and early this year. Craig Robinson did the same thing: overachieved with the previous coach’s players his first season, and then never built off of it despite bringing in what were supposed to be more talented players. I’ve been fooled by this show once before, and until we get an invite to some tournament better than the fucking CBI, I refuse to believe that Tinkle is going to be the savior that gets the program back on a successful track.
Oh stop the sulking. They were fully distracted, and it showed.
The players need to call a meeting and get back on the same page. If it’s us against the world, so be it. Now go out and beat back on the world with consistent effort and focus.
The rest will take care of itself.
For all the talk about leadership earlier this year, leadership better step up now.
Proof will be in the wins. I believe you once predicted a CR team to win 20 games easily with the influx of talent and I think they actually went 11-20 that year. Predictions are fairly worthless. Win the damn ball games.
You’ll have to source that since your numbers sound wrong in the first place. We didn’t go 11-20 in any year. We did go 10-19 in the year that an influx of talent came on board… kind of. The year Starks, Collier and Moreland came to OSU could have been the same as the following year had Berto been deemed worthy of playing before the midway point in that season.
The one season they had all that talent together, they did win 20 games. So there’s that.
Baseball roster is out,
Eligible players not returning
– Tyler Mildenberg
– Jackson Soto
– Sam Tweedt
– Mak Fox
– Trent Shelton
– Kevin Flemer
– Austin Woodward
– Cooper Brunner
– Joey Jansen
Tweedt is surprising since he was expected to compete for the Sunday spot. No one else is a surprise.
Only three signees didn’t make it. Oxnevad was the only one to turn pro.
– David Brosius – surprised because he had been mentioned by Casey during fall ball. Wonder if he got hurt.
– Chris Loeb – Who knows.
Other new guys –
– Tanner Sanders – Listed as an IF. Tough to see him getting any playing time.
– Christian Martinek – We’ll see if he can live up to the hype he had coming out of high school.
– Alex Smagala – RHP
– Austin Kelly – JC transfer
Other notes –
– Mak Engelbrekt returns. Helps bullpen a lot.
– Elliot Cary on the roster. Expected him to redshirt. If he’s back that helps the OF considerably.
Things seems to be pretty set, I think only two spots are up for grabs. The Sunday starter and one OF position.
New lineup prediction –
1. Madrigal – 2B
2. Morrison – SS
3. Harrison – 1B
4. Grenier – 3B
5. Cary – RF
6. Nobach – LF
7. Larnach – DH/OF
8. Ice – C
9. Donahue – DH/OF
Fri – Rasmussen
Sat – Eckart
Sun – Martinek
Weekday – ?
Bullpen
Hickey – Closer
Engelbrekt – 7th/8th
Heimlich – 7th/8th
A couple of things:
– Too bad about Sam Tweedt. I thought he had the potential to turn into a Sam Gaviglio-type of pitcher.
– Also too bad about guys that had major potential but didn’t get enough playing time: Soto and Fox. Shelton and Flemer were high-recruits as well, but never really got much of an opportunity.
– Bummer about Brosius as well, as he could have been a really good lefty out of the bullpen. I’d like to see him connected to the program for 3-5 years because I think his Dad could be a potential replacement for Pat Casey down the road.
– Cary is still recovering from Tommy John, but I heard that he’s going to try to make it back by the middle of the season. If he’s healthy, no need for him to redshirt because he’s a kid that will likely turn pro after 3 years.
– I think Heimlich will be the Saturday starter. Casey always likes to have a R-L-R or L-R-L setup for the Starters. If that’s the case, then it will be Rasmussen, Heimlich, and Eckert. Martinek will fill the weekday starting role that Sam Tweedt did well with last year.
– If Heimlich isn’t a starter, because they have someone else in mind, then the back end of the bullpen, which will get the majority of the innings, could be the best in the country. Hickey, Englebrekt, and Heimlich would be nasty – that’s a CWS type of bullpen.
– Anyone remember when Casey mentioned that Morrison has the speed and ability to be an elite centerfielder? Or am I just dreaming that. If that’s a possibility, I’d like to see an infield of 1st KJ, 2nd Donohue, SS Madrigal, 3B Greiner, and an outfield of LF Nobach, CF Morrison, RF Cary (when he’s back and healthy). When Cary is still out, I think RF might be Nobach, and LF will be Joe Gillette. DH would be a combo of Gillette, Michael Gretler, and Billy King. Could also see Tanner Sanders at DH or any of the freshman that step up.
– Lastly, this team is STACKED. Offensively, this might be the top-to-bottom deepest lineup that Pat Casey has had.
Infield is super deep. Eckert always seemed like he was on the edge of disaster in most games. I’m hoping one of the younger guys steps up and he is the #4 guy. Martinek was supposed to be the next star hurler if my memory serves me. We have been spoiled the last few years with the succession of fantastic pitchers.
Yeah, wonder if the talk about Harrison spending, at least some, time behind the plate will be one way Casey exploits that depth.
I kind of favor Ice for his defense, but we’ve not seen a lot of KJ at C. Maybe Ice’s bat will come alive and make the move somewhat moot.
I don’t see any reason to put KJ behind the plate unless we have nobody else. Ice will be primary, but he’ll need rest. And not everyone can be Susac. My favorite catchers are the workmen. I grew up loving Ferguson, Yeager and Scioscia. Ice can easily be one of them on this level.
“I don’t see any reason to put KJ behind the plate”
I agree, but there has been a lot of talk about exactly that.
Like J.Rod., Susac, and others, it seems Ice is a good game manager and there are few things more fun to see on the diamond than a thief getting cut down at second! or third!
Why there are so few white guys in the NBA. This video explains it in less than 30 seconds

It’s a matter of who spends more time putting up shots.
truth
CBS Sports B1G recap.
Nebraska: Fired Bo Pelini for losing four games every season, and hired Mike Riley, who lost seven. But at least he smiled while doing so.
Right? It’s a neat deal
In some parallel universe it’s a good thing. You know….smiling while getting your ass kicked.
Seth Collins transferring. A little surprised, because I think he could have been a huge weapon as a slash-type of player next year (QB/RB/WR). Good news is less drama.
They slashed his position.
Collins was going to be a real factor on offense had he stayed. Good luck to him.
Less drama and a lot less playmaking. This one is on the coaches. They did not handle Collins well at all.
You’re assuming he’s handleable.
I assumed the coaches weren’t stupid. They made the wrong decision at nearly every turn. By the end they had dug a giant hole that they couldn’t get out of.
Papa Collins wants him at QB. Papa Collins is getting what he wants. The coaches were looking to have him be in a position next year where he could contribute the most in a role that highlighted his skill set. This isn’t on the coaches.
You sure can blame it on the coaches. They recruited him, they know his history. They know his Dad. They did their homework on him. And if they didn’t, then they really are dumb.
What his role was going to be next year was not what they promised him when he committed to OSU. He wanted to play QB so they told him he could be a starting QB, then the made him one, then they took it away. Then they demoted the coach who recruited him. The coaches gave more to him than he earned. The coaches took a chance and it blew up in their face.
I think not making QB on the OSU intramural flag football team was the last straw.
Baldwin kept stealing his Diet Cokes.
Speaking of Baldwin, anybody else think he will be gone the day after fax machine does it’s work for the year?
He’s under contract for this year already, so I’d imagine he sticks around unless more money gets thrown at him by another school. Not sure who is looking for an OC right now that will pay him as much as he’s making currently.
Remember Angry saying alot rests on the shoulders of Garretson next year? That load just got significantly heavier.
vulva
I’m actually disappointed. I thought he could be the man for a couple years… as well as pioneering a new game.
DAMMIT!
I agree, I think this sucks.
Real thin at QB. At least he was good for an emergency.
I think that’s why we have Matt Stuck in for an official visit. I bet we offer him a full ride rather than grayshirt or preferred walk-on. Need 2 QB’s this cycle.
Starter: Garrettson JR
Backup: McMaryion SO
Redshirt watch: Moran FR (will be here for spring ball, which is huge)
Redshirt: Struck FR
This is a bummer. It could have been an fascinating experiment by the coaches.
He hurdled in and out of our lives like a shooting star. Angry nailed it.
Didn’t he transfer to a different HS every other month or so? #redflag
Not an exaggeration – he was at 3 high schools in his last 3 years
really? That should have been a big red flag. Baldwin probably didn’t extend himself to talk Seth out of this, given his own demotion.
Red flag? How about his handle “SethTheGreat”? I hoped it was a generational thing and that I was overreacting. Now I’m not so sure. But, I do think it comes down, in large part, to his Dad.
I feel like this may have a lot to do with Struck. Andersen might feel like he needs one more QB guaranteed signee worse than he needs the exciting potential of SC.
I just don’t get it. He’s never going to be a huge threat as QB1. At QB2 he could line up in the slot, the wing, the half or QB1 and the D would have to account for him on every damn play. And then if you want to screw with their D you could split him wide and run the jet sweep. What he can do on the move with his arm and a first read is pretty fun stuff. And then he can always pull it down and run.
And if he does it well, we’re talking about national exposure over an extended period. How can he turn that down?
It’s his only shot at the NFL. No chance at QB.
There’s also no chance at any other position for him. He’s not a natural receiver. He’ll never be a RB. But he could be everything.
I just don’t get it.
And now will we see that innovation occur? Will the coaches realize they’re on the precipice of something neat?
I’m major bummed on this one. I loved having Seth share the field with a ‘real’ QB. It was outside the box awesomeness. He will fail at his next stop. He will not have an NFL career as a QB. Too bad for him, and too bad for us. Oh well. And now I guess I’m over it already :)
Angry was early on this scoop. I think he had Collins transferring mid season. GA seems to really be struggling with getting dudes to “Respect The Process”. Me included. Seth is probably a Diva no doubt. But the GREAT coaches figure out a way to keep their most talented players in the program.
Guyton and now Collins are two major blows from a raw talent perspective. That’s frustrating.
100% disagree with you on this one. Guys with a poor attitude can be a locker room cancer. Look at Carolina with Greg Hardy last year compared to this year. GA is a no bullshit kind of coach and doesn’t want those types of players no matter how talented they are.
I’ll disagree back. Having been in many a locker room clubhouse the impact these guys have on a squad is usually always over stated. The best team we’ve ever had was full of divas and questionable character dudes. The difference is Erickson (who was great at the time) was able to harness and channel that energy onto the field. The same thing happens at Bama , Ohio state etc. because it’s Oregon state we tend to have this misconception that our student a’s should all be team first guys and kiss babies at the Boys & girls club on the weekends. It’s bullshit. Give me a team full of supremely talented cocky ass holes who produce all day.
big difference between Alabama and tOSU vs Oregon St. Do you think those locker rooms at those two places would be all rosy smelling farts if they were 2-10? I don’t give two shits about the extra curricular stuff off the field you mentioned. The attitudes would be vastly different in the same locker room from 10-2 to 2-10. If StG wants to bail because he can’t hack it when the shit hits the fan, then good riddance. GA wants guys that will fight through adversity. It’s obvious StG isn’t one of those guys. I don’t put any of this on the coaches. But then again, flushing the Riley out of this program and building a winning attitude wasn’t/isn’t going to happen overnight either. Those that don’t respect the process, sayonara. Erickson and GA are two different coaches with two different processes
Angry wasn’t buying the lack of vulva injury either. Crow, it’s what’s for dinner
Let’s hope his new team doesn’t require stretching exercises. He could be out an entire season. JB
A stretched vulva sounds painful.
Pity Collins decided to transfer, but I wish him the best wherever he goes.
At least it seems like we have an open scholarship for Struck now, though.
I’m strangely ok with this Collins thing. Something wants me to be pissed, but, in the end I don’t care if he stays or goes. I definitely don’t want him on the team if he doesn’t want to be in the position GA made for him. Lucas can do everything collins can do, and did, in the CW. Even the limited passing part could be done by Lucas, I’m mean can he really be as bad as Collins at passing?
GA and the coaching staff came up with the plan for the CW. I think they will be fine with the mix we will have, if they keep it innovative.
Also who redshirted this season on offense that might contribute?
Wonder if his sister (Track) is leaving too….
Yup. She also wants to play QB.
Probably throws a better ball.
Damn, I guess SC had a vulva injury after all. Don’t I feel like a sucker now.
Does anyone else feel it’s a little bit of WTF behind the scenes with GA and it was WTF on the field with Riley?
No.
Riley’s players had enough problems off the field. But they were neat stories because they were just neat stories… or they were DE’s fault.
Just speculation here, but Seth Collins transfers to the Ducks just for spite.
trust me when I say this but that was the FIRST thought that crossed my mind after I read he was transferring.
Gotta start the rumor mill somewhere.
My first thought was San Jose State.
He’s worse than Lockie. Unless he goes WR…..than what was the point of transfering? I think he may have issues with daddy when it’s all said and done. I’m saying he goes back too SJSU.
Isn’t OSU dictate which schools he CAN’T transfer to?
I think you are correct, good call.
That would suck for him.
BWBs on a 20-0 run against Utah
And Wiese is back, playing off the bench.
And trying to lose the game single handedly.
Pun intended? :)
#33 for Utah is a hottie.
Got nothing on Liz Brenner
Mandy wins.
That’s a big girl
Is there still an OLine scholarship available? Amongst predictable football jargon, I seem to remember something about “takes up space”
Ruth Hamblin with 8 blocked shots so far!
56-45 Lady Beavs 3:05
BWBs melting down with 1:56 to go
Up by 8, 0:30
Disaster averted, safe to remove the radiation suits now
The QB is leaving because he recently became a father.
He is also an asshole and won’t be missed by many.
Really? A father? Huh……maybe that’s why he’s leaving.
We knew the latter. The former doesn’t negate the need for an education. If anything, blah blah blah.
He’s blowing it. He has a path set forward where he will succeed. And he’s playing a different game. That’s sad.
Except he said he was leaving to pursue his education AND football elsewhere. I’m not saying you’re wrong, but I don’t get how that would connect.
I’m going to spend some more time with my family.
Oh shit! Maybe Angry’s gal was right when she said, “He seems like a guy who would sleep with another player’s girlfriend.”
Eggers gets input from Seth’s dad:
“We have to find him a home. He did a heck of a job as a true freshman who really didn’t have any help. Now we have to figure out where he can go.”
Like father, like son??
http://portlandtribune.com/pt/12-sports/290080-167459-desire-to-play-qb-is-reason-for-collins-transfer-father-says
That’s the best of the quotes to be had? Are we all high? Are we stoned out of our minds?
Sorry.
Are we drunk and stupid?
Wtf man? Does moron think he understands this thing?
I think having an article up already with pops confirms what many of us have been thinking from the get go: over barring dad who lives vicariously through kid, over inflates ego, and is making it difficult for Seth to find his own way.
I hope Seth gets his head on straight, becomes his own man, and this all works out for him before he has a life full of regret. Best of luck kid. Wish you could’ve stayed to try and change the game.
Definitely an ironic quote considering the vast majority of people seem to believe we had enough offensive talent to have battled for a bowl appearance, we just had zero QBs worth the paper their scholarships were printed (scanned?) on. I agree with what most have said (and Angry called almost one year ago) – this dad will be the downfall of SCs athletic career.
Yes ‘dad’ you and your son apparently DO need a lot of help
How does SC leaving not warrant a new thread?
This pisses me off.
Angry hasn’t chimed in for days. Might be off the grid.
Another reason to switch to a forum system.
He is trapped in a vat of soap.
Angry drove up to the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge to stand with his brothers in arms.
if angry is anything, he’s not a moron and a criminal like those moron criminals.
Is anyone else alarmed by the Seth Collins departure? Who am I kidding? Everyone on this blog hated Collins. But, OSU now has only 2 QB’s on their roster with only one QB committed so far in the 2016 class. It seems like OSU is losing their recruiting class left and right? Hopefully Andersen and company can sign a quality class with much needed depth, especially at QB when it’s all said and done! Matt Struck from Central Point (Crater high school) is being recruited by OSU,
http://www.oregonlive.com/recruiting/index.ssf/2016/01/oregon_state_recruiting_beaver_1.html
His film looks good, but he only has offers from D-2 schools? I’m not sure if he is PAC-12 level talent or not?
“Osu is lossing their recruiting class left and right”
Who has decommitted in this class?
Mainly Kaelin Himphill. Rumors circling that there are others being lured away by bigger programs, AKA:poaching.
Himphill was never really committed. Silent committing is BS, the guy never publicly stated he was going to osu, only that they were his leader. And “poaching” is what everyone does, GA is actively doing it just like every other coach in the nation.
Bates from Lebanon?
You sound like Chicken Little. The fact that other teams want our recruits must tell you something. And SC was not our savior. He wasn’t last year and he wasn’t going to be this year. He was going to be a wrinkle in our offense. But you can’t build a football program around a wrinkle.
Coached against him, don’t think he is a Pac talent, maybe after redshirting (greyshirt plus redshirt would be even better) and 3-4 years in the system, huge project, seems like they could find a better use of a scholarship to me…should’ve been after JUCO QBs
Since Seth reads Angrybeavs, I offer him this advice in the form of a well worn cliche: “Wherever you go, there you are.”
And, if it’s time to come out of dad’s shadow, the sooner the better.
Daddy’s running the show. Collins is becoming Todd Marinovich lite.
Marijuanavich, with less QB talent.
From Will’s Dad.. “So what’s the problem?”
Altman gets SC to transfer to UO where he his eligible immediately. He wins the CW#2 by throwing down a game winner over GP2. He then rubs it in by hurdling Wayne Tinkle…….backwards.
Yes!
So he is a basketball stud as well and Tinkle wouldn’t let him play on the team. It was a secret basketball injury that sidelined him for several weeks while playing in Dixon Recreation Center.
Something about injuring his ovaries.
Apparently he didn’t buy into the “Slash” role as advertised by the coaching staff…that’s disappointing.
Unless he actually develops and ends up defeating the Beavers in some meaningful bowl game down the road, he’ll never amount to anything more than a blip in OSU football history.
He better REALLY work on his throwing….either that or transfer to Navy….hey, that might just be the thing for him…
I was starting to think the same, a transfer to Georgia southern or someplace running an option system might be just the thing for his skill set.
Cal Poly would make sense. Wouldnt have to sit a year either
Doubt it…he doesn’t impress me as being smart enough or disciplined enough to cut it at that school.
Navy? Can’t see Seth making the grade.
But, there is a move to take “man” out of midshipman, to which an academy grad has asked, “when will “man” be removed from human?”
Seriously doubt he could get in the Naval Academy.
I do too…it was a joke because he can’t throw and probably could use some discipline…
The trouble is, he’d still need to learn when to handoff, and he doesn’t seem to like doing that much…
New thread time? Doesn’t OSU play USC soon, so maybe wait until then? I predict another Beaver loss at home. This way I’ll be pleasantly surprised if I’m wrong and they end up winning!
there is a lost opportunity cost with Collin’s departure. Had he bought in to the role, he would have been dangerous and made the offense less predictable.
It does open up a scholarship though….
