Agree with the line this is a pick ’em and felt that since last Saturday before it was even published. Very fair line. Will it play out that way? Who knows. But since I expect a close game might as well go with the Beavs. They’ve been doing the one step back, two steps forwad thing, so I think they’re due to take a step forward.

30-28, Beavs.

Go Beavs.

  1. Tough one. When inconsistent meets unpredictable. Luton makes Mannion aka the mannequin look nimble. Beavs will find a way to blow it as the chainsaw sputters out of gas and the forth quarter crowd disappears into the fog. Devils 38-24…sadly.

  2. Great catch by Irish. Only one Hodgins pass on that drive. O looking good so far, but let’s see what happens when the ASU starters are in.

  3. Playing without Hodgins on every series is going to be a huge challenge for the offense. Several other guys are going to have to step up.

  4. Quick observation. Both redzone rds we brought in JJ and did play action. Line backers absolutely froze on JJ both times. Good play design and personnel usage.

    • Just matching AP’s from earlier. JJ had good situational awareness to do it when there wasn’t another defender waiting to clock him mid-air.

  5. PAC12 refs are gawd awful….did I see potentially two block in the backs on that punt return. Wow! Hopefully the refs repay us with a call late in the fourth.

      • Time for Mr. Tibbs to earn his pay………..I’m betting he does.
Rodriguez will return to his strong play, that alone will help SP TMS, a dose of the old Bradford would also help but not as sure of that happening.

    • I have hope on offense. They have been using Jefferson as a super effective decoy.good adjustment I haven’t seen much.

Here’s hoping they stop stop keying on him and he rips them for 100 in the second half

  6. Someone please explain why are offense either looks awesome or horrible. Never in between. I swear, it seems like it’s either three and out or TD.

    • Honestly from the stats I keep it’s Luton. If he gets hit or hurried he falls apart. If he can keep a clean pocket he’s fantastic.

  7. Offense’s Achilles heel right now is it’s inability to respond to blitzing. I don’t think we have positive yardage when ASU brings 6+.

  8. Tibbs adjustments? Ham’s compatriots include Speights and Roberts, two three and outs. Need offense now to gain momentum. Doubt 28 will win this one.

  9. Luton has been sacked twice. Both time had time. I wonder if he will go into retreat mode. Also, just once I’d like for Luton to keep the ball on an option play. Several times he had 10 open yards if he had kept it. AZ knows he never will so they are tackling our RB right away.

  10. Anyone else notice Whitley is looking slimmer? I was so curious I pulled up OkayState recording and I swear he’s lost 6 inches off his gut.

  11. Dang that Auyuk is good for ASU. Their true freshman QB is going to be a real threat in year 3 and 4 if he stays healthy. Need another turnover right here after that sack.

  12. 21 with the makeup interception on the two point conversion. That’s the game! BEAVS will win and get to 1 more game to be be bowl eligible.

      • My thought on his recklessness is situational. When the game is on the line, he plays more cat and mouse games instead of playing it safe and punting. I almost wish they would have had luton punt in that situation once Ayuk ran off the field. This would have eliminated the threat of a punt return to the house.

  13. Some good play, some luck… Herm snd Smith both with questionable calls.

    5-5.

This team is improving, particularly the D, and watchable.

    Should be bowl eligible already… : )

  14. I need to go on record. I was completely wrong on the JS hire. Exceeded any and all expectations. Hope this translates to some recruiting wins tonight as well. Go Beavs!

  15. Gebbia better be the second coming of Matt Moore because looking around the conference, there are a LOT of good QB’s.

Daniels is going to be scary good, same with Gunnell, Slovis, the UCLA guy…

Signature win for Smith even if he was a total dumbass on the 4th and 2. Seniors played like they may never get another chance. Lutons best game at OSU.

Will post QB stats and senior appreciation stats tomorrow.

That shit was stupid but were freaking 5-5 and a bit of luck from a bowl game. Fuck right off prognosticators.

It was almost like the refs were gun-shy to call anything with all of the controversy this year, but then when the game was on the line they make the most controversial call. I have NEVER watched a P-12 game without a holding call, Jay Stricherz alone has probably cost me 5 years off my life I can never get back with him and his crews’ constant flag throwing. Fucking weird game, but the Beavs deserved to win this way for once.

  18. On the broadcast they said we haven’t made a single field goal in conference play this year?
That’s amazing. I wonder if a team has ever finished a season with a winning conference record and zero field goals?
Might be a good case for not kicking and just playing 4 down football, unless a FG is absolutely necessary.

Going for it on 4th was dumb. But ASU going for 2 was way dumber. Game came down to who was dumber. Still lots to like about Smith though.

  20. I prefer an aggressive dumb decision with the ball than an entire quarter of RIley sitting on a lead and trying to milk clock with obvious runs and short passes that have no chance of moving the chains. I think JS gets a pass on this 4th and 2 because he has very little to lose at this point since they have exceeded expectations, and much to gain in regards to players perspective, bowl game possiblilities and recruits on the sideline. Even if they punted it out the back of the endzone, ASU had just scored in about 2 minutes. As the defense continues to mature and learn, maybe he isn’t as agressive on that type of play and goes more traditional strategy of punt and trust the defense. However, if you are 2 yards from closing out the game, force the opponent to make the plays to stop you, which they weren’t able to do apart from PI call.

I am impressed and now view JS as a blend of DE and Chris Petersen rather than a younger Riley. Thankful that this is the case, and I think Tibesar, Bray, Maholcheck, Lange are all legit assistants with real recruiting substance. I like what they are doing. Let’s hope they can get that 6th win and extend this season! JS should be Pac12 coach of the year at this point lol.
