Anything goes. Have at it, Beavos.

I’m not sure who wins this game. These teams seem pretty equally bad. It’s probably going to be really ugly football and one of them wins by 3. Since we have a terrible FG kicker, I’d probably lean SJSU.

It’s sad but to beat even SJSU we will need to play a flawless game. Can’t turn ball over. Can’t make stupid mistakes and run the ball out of the endzone on the kickoff. Special teams isn’t special and is more of a liability than at any other time in recent memory. We’re just not good enough to make mistakes and win…even against “lesser” opponents.

We will have to get qb pressure otherwise this is likely a loss. SJSU wants to throw the ball and they’ve been pretty decent at it this year and have shown to put up points. Our defense just isn’t good and it’s not entirely due to injuries. If they have all day to throw like Cal did, things could be ugly. Largely, Jordan, Thomas and Ayers have been pretty solid, it’s everyone else beyond that who’s really struggling. #8 got torched a few times and was called for a hold on one play and was still 3 yds behind the receiver. We couldn’t cover the TE last week or anyone 4th 5th safeties needed to cover. Hard to say which SJSU team shows up. They lost to Fresno State 33-10 but then put up 52 on the road vs WSU and nearly won that double OT game. It does appear they’ve moved away from that QB who played vs WSU so not sure if that’s performance or just not totally healthy but he threw for nearly 400 yds and 4 tds that game.

This Beavs team reminds me of my golf game where every week it’s something new that is awful. Starting the season it seemed like we could run the ball on anyone and defense was solid enough but couldn’t stop the run. Then the defense got really bad and we’re allowing 350+ yds on ground. Last game played run pretty well but got carved up in the passing game. Offense is just a shit show. Haven’t been able to run the ball, either scheme or by choice, and we’re resulting to throwing the rock which we clearly can’t do. Gundy is starting to remind me of our last OC where he decides to not be creative and run the same routes over and over again. The 1 bubble screen we did try and run last week was to Walker who’s not the fast twitch guy by any stretch of the imagination. I suppose they don’t feel comfortable doing much else beyond what they’ve shown but it’s frustrating to see the lack of creativity in trying to make plays or generate momentum.

  2. PFF positional comparison:

SJSU’s OL is bad, even playing weak competition. This is a good opportunity for a confidence building game on defense.

    Offense
    Passing- adv SJSU
    Receiving- adv SJSU
    Rushing- adv OSU
    Pass blocking- adv OSU
    Run blocking- adv OSU

    Defense
    Run defense- adv SJSU
    Pass rush- adv SJSU
    Coverage- adv SJSU

SJSU has been remarkably consistent across the board this year. They played close games against teams we played close games against. This will probably be a close game.

Bleu Dantzler from Chandler, AZ. 3-star OLB/DE, early-enrollee, former Utah St commit with SMU and MWC offers. Good motor, has a number of pass rush moves and is able to beat bigger OL. Biggest concern on film is he tackles high every single time.

        5

I was in agreement with the high tackling, until the final play of his season highlights. Almost every other play was pass rush, where he was playing at shoulder level, keeping his head up, and never giving up his feet.

Need to see some basic run D to figure out if he plays like that against the run, or if it’s more like that last play.

I think he’s an edge, because his top end speed isn’t impressive, but he’s really quick and plays with good leverage in tight spaces.

SJSU 42 Beavs 16. SJSU’s DL is underrated and will get pressure on our QB. Our offense may struggle again unless we 100% commit to running the ball. I’d start McCoy and run 80% of the time with lots of QB options, designed QB runs, play action deep passes, etc. Our D won’t be able to get off the field again so time of possession and winning TO battle is critical. This is a bad positional matchup for Beavs and SJSU is much better than they get credit for. Play with chip on shoulder plus MWC refs will make a couple gut wrenching call against us… have in every game so far. I predict a beat down but if Beavs have the right game plan and some luck, they could keep this close and potentially win with it being at Reser.

  4. I think it will definitely be a close game, but one that we take away with a win (despite all the bad the last few weeks).

    28-24 Beavs

Maybe I’m a doomer but after the display against Cal I don’t think we win another game.

We don’t have a QB who can do anything but run.

    • 6
      1

Air Force is terrible, their only win is by 2 scores to a 4-4 FCS Merrimack. Yes, the academy schools are experts at making games low scoring rock fights, but if we can’t even beat them, we have bigger issues.

    • CAL is a talented team, best team they’ve played since the yucks, not really comparable to SJSU (kinda decent) and Air Force (not so much).

Bray and co. are going to earn their $ keeping this team together psychologically. Massacre of injuries aside, this is a roster that was sold on making a 12-team CFP run to stick it to the man and many probably thought they’d end up in the B12. Players have to be embarrassed by the last few weeks and checking out mentally with an eye on the Portal/NIL/options for next season is just as much of a challenge as the rest of the schedule is.

McCoy is wholly capable of beating SJSU/AF, he’s also wholly capable of killing any chance at winning (the duality of football?). Ben gives the most stable path to winning the next two IMO, but tough call, could also see them throwing Gabarri out there if they think he can win while also developing(fucking up). Who knows.

But we’re gonna learn a lot about this staff and team by how they show up next weekend. Godspeed Beavs.

      • 1
        1

I don’t think the Beavs can beat SJSU with Ben at QB. I do agree that coaching staff and game plan plan are critical if the Beavs were to come out on top. To me, for the Beavs to win, they must be able to apply the same formula that worked at beginning of the year. Run ball, protect the ball, and control time of possession. If they have to rely on pass, I don’t think this team can beat anyone including AF

        • I agree that they need to re-focus on dominating the running game, but do you mean that Ben can’t do that because he himself is not the same threat to run? To me, the return of the run game is the argument for leaning on captain Ben in these troubling times (or rolling the dice with Gabarri).

Teams are loading the box with little worry even on 3rd down because they don’t respect Beavs QB play (or pass blocking). There’s no harm in leaving a guy uncovered or wide-open in a 1-on-1 if the QB isn’t even conscious of their existence because he can’t process the game and work through a progression. It’s been Cover-1 galore.

McCoy has made some outstanding plays with his legs and dropped some dimes, but how many times (especially on 3rd and short) has he completely stopped playing QB, locked onto one guy, and missed an easy first down (or touchdown)? For those of you that haven’t been to a game in-person this season and only have the TV camera angle, it’s been A LOT of times. It’s been demoralizing for the fans and the players on the sideline.

BG is overrated by some, but does he miss wide-open Hankerson standing in the endzone by himself at the end against UNLV? I’m not sure he does, but I’ve seen enough of McCoy to know that he most likely will every time. Opposing coaches see it too. It’s a bad situation.

Love McCoy as a person/competitor but he just screams liability on film, coaches know exactly how to leverage his warts as an advantage and they’ll keep doing it until he figures it out and punishes the strategy, and he has yet to show he can do it. He could come back and have a great game against SJSU/AF, but I think WSU/BSU would likely have an easy time with him and a similar result.

          • You make some great points. I’ve seen moments this year where McCoy has executed. The drive to tie the game be CSU sticks in my head. He made some great reads and throws in that drive. But that’s more of an outlier especially as the season has progressed which I think is part of your point… opposing coaches have adjusted to him. That said, I don’t think BG is much better and McCoy’s ability to run is a bigger asset than BGs arm. Teams are going to stack the box regardless. If we can’t find a way to run the ball, protect ball, and control clock, we will get steamrolled. McCoy running more option, designed qb runs, fly sweep, rb counter and stretch plays, wildcat with McCoy or Hankerson, together with play action deep passes. Commit to run, be creative to do so, take some occasional play action shots. And then do some unconventional defensive sets to see if we can create some turnovers… blitz like crazy from all angles, play 3 safety’s, etc. Finally, break out your best trick plays and fake FG. Our hopes of a bowl game hinges on beating SJSU

          • BG has the ability to read coverages and analyze them over the course of a game. He would have understood the D was anticipating his 1-3 reads, looked them off with his 1, then just make his 4 read–the circle route to Hank–his 2.

Allah needs to understand the mesh. Ben clearly read a keeper on that fumble.

      • Don’t really buy that the players have a foot out the door with an eye on the transfer portal and NIL money because the majority of the players have a horrible resume. The majority has not played well enough to earn interest from a P4 conference.

        • 2
          1

Doesn’t matter unfortunately, coaches care about the minutia they see on film and a lot of transfers are on NIL this season based solely on their practice footage from former schools because they were injured or buried on the depth chart. Beavs will def lose players, some that we are hoping to be brand names. It’ll be painful. Coaches have to do everything they can to keep as many as possible while also being prepared for the exodus. It’s a tough job.

Hankerson, Gordon, Chisom, Saez, Foster, Skyler, Jordan, Clemons, Ayers, Allah etc. have all shown their value, then there’s the injured and redshirt guys. Unfortunately, they’re gonna lose some of those guys.

          • Hankerson is the only one that I think has consistently performed well and I thought was a senior.??? If other schools D1/P4 schools want to poach our players we might as well drop down to Division 2 because we’ll never be able to keep anybody. If you want to transfer to a better program or for some bucks, then show it by continuously making plays.

          • Melvin Jordan or Andre Jordan could catch the eye of other programs. Melvin is pretty undersized (5’11), so that will be a concern for some potential suitors.

I’m guessing both will be getting improved NIL pitches from OSU.

          • Bray use to tease our last inside backer that I think is the same height as Jordan, if he was 3-4” taller he would have been playing at USC. USC poached him at the end of last year. ;o(

          • His statement was about his overall size, and it was in the context of whenever USC offers him, they will get him, but they didn’t out of HS.

I think he was trying to put a chip on M–A’s shoulder more than anything. In the end, a fan went to his dream school… and got paid to do it. Can’t blame him.

It just sucks that this is the current state of college football, that you have to continuously recruit the players who previously committed and are currently playing for you.

  6. 10

Mitch on fire on the recruiting trail. Just picked up the #35 overall recruit in 2025 and stole him from UCLA. Independent Beav baseball > B1G baseball.

  7. And another one came in last night…6’4 RHP JC pitcher Noah Scott. Fastball in the 94-96 range. One of the top JC prospects in the country.

I also didn’t realize the #3 HS prospect in 2025 is a Beaver commit and has been since 8th grade.

Indiana fan talking about the possibility of Oregon/Indiana/Penn State all going undefeated(because non of those teams play each other), and the ducks having to sit out of the Big10 title game because of tie breaker rules(since their margin of victory over Ohio State was only 1 pt), even if they’re still ranked #1 overall.
Not a super likely scenario, but it’s funny to think it’s a legitimate possibility.
And he’s right, this is what happens when they cram a ton of teams into a single conference.
Crossing fingers they get to experience this chaos.

You cannot crown a champion of an 18 team conference with 9 conference games, no divisions, and only 1 playoff game.

Anyone that thought this wouldn’t eventually lead to something like this happening has never watched sports. It happening year 1 would be great.

      • 2
        2

They don’t mind because they are gaming the system to create at least 4-5 teams able to end the season with 0 or 1 loss, thereby demanding an additional playoff spot for all playoff worthy teams from their conference.
It is more of a narrative to land as many playoff spots rather than desiring to name a true conference champ. The only
Point to the conference championship games is simply tv ratings and tv rights sold for additional dollars. They will insist both teams should be in the playoffs no matter the outcome. SEC will mirror the same arguments and these 2 conferences will demand 10 spots when it is all said and done.
It will be up to the other conferences to push back and not allow them to succeed in their demands.

        • 1
          2

I’d love to see Indiana, Pitt, Iowa St, Texas A&M all wins conferences and BYU, Boise St, Wazzu, ND all get in as 1 loss. That leaves 4 spots – Oregon, Tenn, Miami, Georgia
Probably won’t happen since Alabama, Texas, Ohio St, Penn St all get mulligans and will be picked over 1 loss teams all day.

        • I am well aware of this, I just think they are fooling themselves to think it works long term.

I don’t think other conferences will matter, I think TV ratings will tumble a few years into this new format once fans realize it is just a bunch of SEC/B1G rematches. Non-alum fans that want that already have the NFL.

          • I hope it happens in the SEC first, maybe THEN they’d add a ninth conference game. Seriously, that conference needs to get dinged by the committee for that. Some teams actually seem to schedule at least one decent P4 team in non-conference – the rest try to skate through. Steal a conference win and a close loss to justify a playoff spot? I’ll pass.

          • A 16/18 team conference shouldn’t be playing any non-conference games. Non-conference games exist to fill out a schedule after you’ve already played a round robin. If you can’t play a round robin within your conference, you shouldn’t be allowed to play non conference games.

    • That’s definitely not how it works. Why would they choose the margin of victory against one team to determine who makes the CCG?

The rules are pretty simple – from the B1G website:
      (1) Tied teams compared based on head-to-head matchups during the regular season (doesn’t apply – all undefeated – go to #2)
      (2) Tied teams will be compared based on record against all common conference opponents (doesn’t apply – all undefeated – go to #3)
      (3) Tied teams will be compared based on record against common opponents with the best conference record and proceeding through the common conference opponents based on their order of finish within the conference standings (doesn’t apply – all undefeated – go to #4)
      (4) Tied teams will be compared based on the best cumulative conference winning percentage of all conference opponents.

#4 is where it ends, and Indiana likely gets hosed because they have a remarkably easy B1G schedule (avoiding obviously UO and PSU, but also avoiding the upper middle class of the B1G – no Iowa, Illinois, Wisconsin, or Minnesota). Of the 8 other teams with winning B1G records, Indiana manages to avoid 6 of them (only playing Ohio St and Michigan)

      • 2
        4

It would then be funny if a ticked off Hoosiers team whacked everyone in the CFP, because who has ever heard of Indiana not playing at least some of those teams in one season?

  9. Not sure how to explain TV ratings for the Cal game being our lowest of the season by far, other than that it was on ESPN2 and maybe Beaver fans are boycotting ESPN?

  10. 3
    3

One of the things that really didn’t get enough attention during the break up of the Pac-12, and the blame tossing toward the commissioners and college presidents was the fact that Pac-12 viewership just ISN’T as high as the other conferences. College football just doesn’t matter as much out here because three-quarters of the conference had at least one NFL team in the market, in addition to other pro sports teams. Something other conferences like the Big 10 and SEC don’t contend with. The TV money wasn’t charity. And even with all the screw-ups by those tasked with protecting the conference, if the interest was there, even that clown car couldn’t have screwed up the conference getting a decent media deal.

    • Dan, interesting comments. Specifically the California schools never seemed to draw big crowds with the exception of USC when they were really good and it was the “cool” thing to be seen at games. LA market teams never seem to draw that well (see LA Rams & Raiders). Not sure how the Arizona school crowds were at football games. I hear people blame the nice weather. But football in the SEC is a religion and has always been. As the Big 10, the “blue blood” schools have always had great crowds. I don’t think the also rans drew great crowds consistently.

    • It doesn’t seem to be the “draw” necessarily. Its more about the potential viewership in the market. Big markets have the potential to draw big numbers, whether they do or not seems to be the question that no one really cares about. Outside of the cal game we’ve drawn better viewership then then many middling big12/big10 and some sec schools. It would be interesting to see a breakdown of which TV markets are watching those games since it’s on nationally.

      • 1
        2

OSU is the Portland market. Same as UO. They’re is zero difference between the schools “markets”

I can’t explain TVs logic here but it’s not markets. All colleges own the biggest markets in their states. If it was about markets, or market potential, the SEC wouldn’t be the dominant conference. 2 Mississippi schools? Nope. Alabama with 2 schools? What market? It’s not TV markets driving this.

  11. Baseball recruiting progress:

“It’s been a good week for the future of the Oregon State baseball team.

Coach Mitch Canham and the Beavers flipped a pair of coveted high school prospects this week, landing verbal commitments from pitcher Trey Morris and infielder Josh Proctor in the 2025 class.

Morris, a 6-foot-1 left-hander from Fresno, California, announced Monday that he was committing to Oregon State, posting on Twitter: “Corvallis is home, go Beavs.” He had been committed to Texas.

Another dose of good news came to the Beavers on Tuesday, when shortstop/third baseman Josh Proctor also pledged to play for Oregon State. Proctor, who is from Altadena, California, had been committed to UCLA.

Proctor, at 6-5 and 225 pounds, is a big-bodied, big-armed two-way force who is considered one of the nation’s top high school hitters. Baseball America ranks him as the No. 37 prep prospect in the 2025 class. A gifted athlete, Proctor also plays basketball at Maranatha High School.

Morris and Proctor joined what is shaping up to be a standout 2025 OSU recruiting class, which ranks No. 18 in the nation, according to Perfect Game. The headliners of the 12-player class include third baseman Xavier Neyens, whom MLB.com considers the No. 3 prep prospect in the 2025 MLB draft, and shortstop Mason Pike, the No. 47 prospect in the draft, according to Baseball America. Both prospects are from Washington.

    https://www.oregonlive.com/beavers/2024/10/oregon-state-baseball-lands-commitments-from-pair-of-high-school-prospects.html

    • Morris plays for Washington Union HS in the tiny town of Easton just outside of Fresno. I don’t know what they put in the water out there, but they have always had great athletes. Former MLB pitcher Matt Garza (2008 ALCS MVP) and the NBA’s Deshawn Stephenson both came from Washington Union.

    • What’s the likelihood they actually show up on campus after the mlb draft?

These guys still have another year of hs to play

      • And you may have hit on why they’re switching commitments. SEC teams may have realized they’ll likely be signing pro contracts and focused NIL efforts elsewhere? Who knows.

If history is any guide, some will be Beavs, some will not.

Sounds like BSU’s Jeanty has integrity (though I note there’s no discussion of any NIL deal he likely has – curious what a BSU collective might be paying him?). Also an interesting note on BSU safety from seaside Oregon.

“But that didn’t stop cash offers coming from all over the Power Four landscape. It’s an NCAA violation for coaching staffs to contact players who haven’t entered the transfer portal.

Jeanty never entered the portal, nor did any of the other players Danielson says were illegally contacted by Power Four schools.

“I called quite a few coaches, and told them I knew what they were doing, and it was illegal,” Danielson said. “Not surprising, it turned into the blame game. ‘Oh, I didn’t know. Let me look into it.’ Well, I’m protective, and we’re not taking this sitting down.”

Why would he? This is the problem with today’s college football: Group of Five conferences have become feeder teams for the Power Four.

The Group of Five does the heavy lifting, and the Power Four reaps the benefits. ….

You’re not turning down hundreds of thousands of dollars – or in Jeanty’s case, more than a million – if you don’t feel like where you are is where you should be.

“There’s more to life than money,” Jeanty said. “This is my home now. I want to leave a legacy.”

Boise State is more than one player, or a group of players. It’s a unique DNA bubble built and sustained over nearly half a century by players from all corners, all the way back to the days of junior college football played in the shadows of the bucolic Boise Front Range.

It’s current players like safety Alex Teubner, who grew up in the small beachside town of Seaside, Oregon, where it had been two decades since a high school player even walked on at an Bowl Subdivision school, much less played.

Teubner had zero scholarship offers coming out of high school, and no walk-on invites. His high school coach knew a staffer at Boise State and asked for an opportunity, and Teubner showed up five years ago on the first day of fall camp and didn’t know how to practice.

Now he’s a team captain and an All-MWC safety.”

    https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/ncaaf/2024/10/25/ashton-jeanty-chooses-boise-state-nil-barry-sanders/75816190007/

      • It would be luck o the Beavers that Jeanty breaks the record in a win against them and in a game where the beavers may need a victory just to be bowl eligible…Beavers need to wrap up his legs, not sure a 180 lb safety like Kane will be game for that, we’ll see.

But Jeanty has put up good numbers against better defenses….

        • Easiest LODB call of all time.
          1) Beavs of course will enter needing a win to get to a bowl game,
2)Jeanty will be in a deadlock for the Heisman and will need a monster game to separate,
          3) Beavs d-line and lbs will be anxious to tackle but not disciplined to do it.
          4) Boise St will also need to run up to score for style points going into the possible playoff spot, in spite of the conference championship.

That game will be a disaster to watch as a Beav fan, All issues point to an ultra focused BSU team building to one of their best years in school history, and a true Heisman winner. The crazy thing about Jeanty is if you stack 8-9 to stop him, he only needs to break contact with 1 or 2 guys, (which he does easily about 70% of the time) and then he can break a 60 yard td run. He has numerous 40+ td runs and is so explosive for a big play, Beavs will be struggling to slow him down.
I expect Jeanty will probably run for 250-280 yards and at least 5 tds against the Beavs.

          • Game has a 1:00 eastern time start…pretty good for BSU, but I wonder if the network will move game time back to better showcase Jeanty if the Heisman race is indeed tight.

Terrible start time for Beavers….9:00 am pacific.

          • Yup, “The crazy thing about Jeanty is if you stack 8-9 to stop him, he only needs to break contact with 1 or 2 guys…”

            From the usatoday piece:
Jeanty is averaging nearly 10 yards per carry, and seven yards – seven yards – after contact.

Multiple sources reporting that Kyle Whittingham will announce his retirement in the next week. One of the best and most respected coaches in all of college sports, driven away by the new landscape of college athletics ? If there isn’t a place for guys like him, Nick Saban or Tony Bennett then college athletics as we have known are dead and ain’t coming back

    • 3
      7

I dunno. Nick Saban can probably fuck off and i wouldn’t care if he weren’t heard from again. He strikes me as someone that benefited from the many inequities and false narratives of NCAA money sports. I may be wrong, but I’m not gonna research his history to find out.

    • Utah was the last team I expected to fold up like they have. Their president is probably having second thoughts right now. Especially if Kyle bolts.

    • 1
      2

It isn’t. And in no time at all, there will be no one left who recalls ‘the good old days.’ The pac-12 may have deve!oped into a respectable regional conference, however, andthat wd be fine w me.

      • 1
        2

This is the point I’ve been making. “This ain’t your dad’s college sports”. Definitely not, and we’re all mostly the dads and grandpas in this equation. The younger generation doesn’t care about the traditions we are comfortable with. That’s just the way life is. Sports and sports fandom is made for the young.

        • 4
          2

and football’s popularity is dropping with each new generation. It’s still high and becoming regional, but hoops is now its equal, in popularity, among those under 25.

Surveys show that age doesn’t spend three+ hours watching a game with limited action and lots of stoppages. And a lot of those who are fans consume football by watching highlights or condensed games.

The part of the Apple deal that was most intriguing was that players in every sport would get a highlight package accessible to them after every game. Apple seems to have a good read on the demographic who spends a lot of their disposable income.

          • 1
            1

Yeah it’s kind of hard to explain but I get the feeling that not just with football, but really with all sports, people generally have alot less personal investment in the outcomes of games. Sports are becoming more of a form of “cultural participation” rather than something deeply meaningful. The W’s and the L’s don’t matter as much as the performance in general. Did you express your individual charisma in a meaningful way? If so, that’s the fastest way to prominence. When I observe young people at sporting events now it really just seems like a big social event more than anything else. The game itself is secondary.

          • Sports are always social events for young people, doesn’t mean they don’t care.

Those social events create the memories that connect them to those teams for life. You can’t judge the future of sports by the actions of those under 30, the money that drives sports comes from those over 40 whom have an emotional connection because of the social connections sports gave them when they were young.

          • The games were always social events yet but the game itself was still THE main event. I just don’t get that vibe today. Doesn’t mean that there aren’t still some young people that are emotionally all in though. But the trend is the trend and it has a snowball effect culturally.

Disagree, college football is destroying itself and dad’s teach kids what matters in sports, kids do care.

Sports survive because it’s traditions are passed down.

  14. I had mentioned in an earlier post that I wondered if Beavs would be interested in MMD again given the situation with D Line and Edge players. Seems like we are. Beavs are sending him the weekly recruiting graphics on social media. Interesting.

  15. OT, the turnaround in Detroit has been impressive these past few years and they’re on a roll currently:

“During the five-game winning streak that has propelled the Detroit Lions (6-1) to the franchise’s best start since 1956, they’ve scored more touchdowns (24) than thrown incompletions (20). Talk about efficiency.

Jared Goff has the highest completion rate (83%) and passer rating (146.5) over a five-game span than any quarterback in NFL history (50 attempts minimum). And that only begins to reflect the balance that is flowing. The Lions are the only team in the NFL with three players – Jahmyr Gibbs, David Montgomery and Amon-Ra St. Brown – who have produced 400 yards from scrimmage and posted 5 TDs from scrimmage. They lead the league in touchdowns scored from outside the red zone (nine) and they have the most touchdowns produced in goal-to-go situations (17). ”

Averaging 43 points these past 4 games.

Looks like Jemar Jefferson is still on the practice squad, buried behind all that production.

Teams are going to come after that OC for a HC….

Pudgy Gnome and his minions jumped out to a 10-0 lead on the Hoosiers, but Chiles threw two picks in the 2nd quarter. They are now down 21-10 and Indiana looks to have all the momentum.

  17. thanks to ND and boise Miami Clem and BYU no shot the SEC B10 get more than 3 in and the ACC has a shot at 3 bids if the winner of pitt/SMU goes through undeated

SEC – Locks UGA TEX Maybes TAM Tenn tenn will froze out unless they beat uga

sorry indy is not getting in unless they beat ohio st a 11-1 Indy will be passed up for a 3rd acc team without army beating ND they have no shot as well

and yes wash st even at 11-1 is out

    • What we already know. It is an invitational for an exclusive club and they playoff format just expands the party
      For the same usual suspects.

Subjective metrics like SOS, roster talent, legacy tv value, fan passion etc are all favored over the school like Indiana having 1 great year but still viewed as undeserving in the context of their last 20 seasons of poor performance.

  18. It looks like the d*cks will win it all this year and have an another Heisman too. Who can beat uo this year? I just don’t see them losing a game this season. This will be painful and unbearable especially with the current state of Beaver Football. I really hope I’m wrong!

    • 1
      1

They can definitely be beat. No way they have more than like a 1/3 chance of winning it all. But that’s a pretty high chance haha.

    • 1
      5

      You should definitely be wrong.

Gabriel isn’t close to Heisman material. I know no Duck fans who think so. They love the kid and that he’s on their team, but they all think Jeanty is the man this year.

Nobody who thinks Gabriel should win should be considered credible at this point.

      • The media sure loves Gabriel. I haven’t looked at his stats compared to other contenders. Being on a national contending team sure helps. McCaffrey got hosed his soohmore year at Standford where he put incredible all purpose yards. He lost to an Alabama running back that I can’t remember who he was.

        • Derrick Henry win it that year, 2015. McCaffrey had over 2,000 yds rushing, 600 yards receiving and over 1,000 yards on kick off returns!!!

        • 1
          2

Henry and McCaffrey were pretty equal, with McCaffrey having the edge on receiving yardage. But what put Henry over the top was that he had more than twice as many TDs as McCaffrey.

Mark Ingram over Toby Gerhart was possibly one of the most egregious Heisman choices ever. I’d put that one up there with Gino Torretta over Marshall Faulk.

          • I don’t think so Jack. Henry “only” had around 2,300 yds, with 2,200 coming from rushing. McCaffrey had over 2,600 yards rushing and receiving; plus over 1,000 on kick off returns and another 190 on punt returns. Henry did have a lot of TD’s (28). I think what put him over the top was he broke Herschel Walkers record and played for a National title contender. I still think the do it all McCaffrey should have won.

          • It’s a decent argument.

Plus, Manziel put to rest the bias against under-classmen getting votes.

I still think Gerhart got a worse jobbing.

      • Jeanty completely changes the gameplan for opponents. Linebackers pretty much have to run commit whenever there’s a potential handoff, or when they don’t have enough men in the box.

    • I agree. I haven’t seen a team that is playing better. They have under rated D with a very good offense and QB. I hope they lose.

  19. 3

Omar Speights is starting at linebacker for the Rams. Gives me the same feeling as when Remmers started for the first time. A bonafide “no way” kinda thing. I watched Remmers jump off sides and get beat continuously for four years at tackle and he ended up playing in the league for a decade.

    • 4
      2

I watched 5-6 minutes of the USC-UofW game and that was it. What was the often-repeated mantra? Ah yes, I remember it clearly: the ‘fortunes of the PAC 12 depended on the rise and fall of USC’ – a strong USC team meant a strong PAC 12, right? So now that USC is a middling to lower tier Big 10 team, what does that mean? When does USC start making overtures about returning to the PAC 12, where they at least had some relevance, and should we even entertain their return?

  20. MBB tips off the season tonight! It’s always interesting to see how Tinkle puts his stamp on a completely new roster each year.

    • Cautiously optimistic. Seems like there’s some good European pieces there but nobody can stifle a good offensive scorer like a WT offense. Not to mention we’re replacing all but 3 players on the squad and only 1 true starter coming back. Sad thing is, even with the lower conference competition I’m thinking the preseason 6 or 7 spot seems likely. Hopefully there’s only a year to a year and a half left of watching paint dry left. WT is a nice dude, but his style of basketball is ass to watch and doesn’t win. Bad enough to endure a 9 game or less win season but also scoring 50 pts a game is lame as shit.

  21. Wow, Bray opens up QB as an open competition for this week between the top three guys. Looks like they’ve finally lost patience with GM.

Pretty surprising move given they had such a hard time picking a starter in preseason before McCoy’s “sudden emergence” in the last week. I feel like they’ve seen what they need to of GJ in game action and BG is a known commodity so this is basically just figuring out who the hot hand is. It doesn’t inspire confidence, but maybe it’s enough to light a fire for someone.

  22. P12 reportedly doing a 50-50 split for postseason money in both football and basketball (50 for the league, 50 for the team). Nice to see the conference rewarding good performance and hopefully it helps flush out mediocrity at the school level.

  23. Beavs come out hot in the 2nd half, lose the 7 point lead to go down by 1 and have come roaring back to lead by 1. Beavs giving perennial powerhouse Utah Tech all they can handle

      • Lol. We’re actually starting to take advantage of our big size in the paint. Up by 14 now. Bout 5 min left. Lots of points in the paint. No outside shot whatsoever. 6 of 22 beyond the arc

    • Thank God for the size advantage. Can’t hit shit beyond the free throw line. The Iranian seems like a player. We’ll see when he faces someone who isn’t 6 inches shorter but like what I’ve seen from him. Minor could be fun to watch as well.

  24. Minor looks like our prerequisite one good scoring guard. Kingz is decent. The team in general looks soft on defense and really struggles to shoot from distance.

Lelevicius was barely on the court due to stupid fouls. Looked overwhelmed by UT’s physicality. He did hit the first 3 of the season, though!

  25. Stupid question, but it has me wondering since this tweet came out from the NIL account as soon as OSU won tonight.

How does NIL help out MBB team when almost the entire roster is foreign players?
Wouldnt the NIL money just get funneled to the couple of guys who are from the US?

“Fresh off their first W of the season, you can support @BeaverMBB by contributing either monthly, yearly, or one-time with the link below!”

    https://x.com/DamNationNIL/status/1853665629943062650?t=dOiTuW2Sl0P-nz-aOwcYnQ&s=19

    • Stock up with international players, then pay big bucks for 1-2 American players to fill key gaps next year. Assuming they aren’t paying much for current roster so maybe they can save up, win some games this year, and attract some free agents next. While I give Tinks credit for fielding what might be a team that isn’t absolute dog shit like most years, I have zero faith in his ability to teach, develop, lead, and execute as a game coach. So unless we catch lightning in a bottle, there’s almost zero chance of a Tinks coached team reaching its potential. Good to see Beavs win tonight vs a crap Utah Tech team, but tbh, probably won’t finish in top half of wcc. Need to win to keep best players and attract good additions next year to avoid another rebuild. Does Tinks have it in him? I don’t think so.

  26. 3
    1

Sounds like it was shaky at times. But I’ll take a 23 point win to start off the season. That’s what we want in a game like that.

    • 9
      8

You guys are all gluttons for punishment if you willingly watch a Tinkle coached team. I can tell you exactly how this will go based on past seasons:
Games 1-5 Beavs look disjointed and barely capable to compete with NAIA level schools but get a few nice wins. This is always Tinkle’s high-point.
Games 6-10 are the rise of the core group, usually made up of guys who can’t shoot, and don’t know how to run an offensive set, these are the games where the new players who are talented tend to play above Tinkle’s coaching ability, which gets them in the doghouse for the rest of the year.
Games 11-20 are where the mantra of character and team building come into play, due to extended disappointing showings as the team loses all fundamentals and degrades into rat ball and individualism, Tinkle will generally bench his most talented players out of frustration since they are smart enough to depart from his process and actually want to win some games.
Games 20-30 are easily the most frustrating each year as the hope of almost making postseason anything fades and the roster begins looking for the exit via other school offers, effort diminishes and Tinkle shouts constantly but no one hears him any longer. He has lost another locker-room and begins the narrative about rebuilding the culture with guys who want to be there.

Expect 12-18 record, with 10 wins coming early and you’ll be pleasantly surprised if they do any better than that, but don’t waste time thinking Tinkle has turned a corner or figured anything out. He falls under the blind squirrel finds a nut category.

      • 11

I watch Oregon State basketball. Regardless of who is coaching. Do I wish we had a different coach. Yes. But nothing I can do. So I will watch whatever team is out there with whatever coach is sitting on the bench.

      • This is a pretty accurate summation, although double digit wins in a season feels like a national championship for a WT team. It’s hard to watch a team he coaches with the 4 corners offense he likes to run, but men’s basketball is what I grew up watching since we had season tickets throughout my childhood. Ideally they’re moving on from WT in that last season of his contract. Guess we have 1 more full year and then we can move on in like Feb 2026 when we’re still ass.

  27. CORVALLIS – Oregon State is getting some much-needed help on defense for Saturday’s game against San Jose State.

The Beavers are expecting the return of cornerback Jaden Robinson and defensive tackle Thomas Collins for the 12:30 p.m. game in Reser Stadium. Both are starters.

Robinson has missed the past four games, and Collins three.

  28. 2

Men’s soccer is a lock for second in the WCC, and the conference looks like a 2-bid conference.

No idea how the women wash out. It’s a logjam at the top, with OSU being one of three in first place with two games left. But their overall record is .500 ball, which makes them the only one of the three not in the top 25.

Rumor has it the media deal for P12 is not going well. ~$8m per team per year and poor exposure. Only fox and ESPN showing much interest. Anything less than $15m per team per year would be a disaster. Let’s hope the high bidders will come to the table soon.

      • 2
        3

If Memphis and Tulane get them from $8m to $15m per team per year, then that would mean those 2 teams are worth $40m each per year. They might help a bit but not that much. Regardless, hard to imagine them making the jump for less than $15m. I think we’ll know by thanksgiving where this is headed but early signs are not promising. Then again, I could see ESPN/Fox leaking false or incomplete information to influence value and damage P12 brand. The P12s inability to kill MWC by adding UNLV plus secure Memphis/Tulane when other MWC teams were added could cost them dearly. Having MWC and AAC inventory gives networks a fall back so there’s no reason to pay top dollar for P12.

        • “Gives the networks a fallback”
In the next move by those networks, they will begin elevating MWC schools as the natural step to continue to try and diminish any version of the PAC12 existence.

        • 2
          1

No non-P4 school will raise or lower our media value.

Nobody will move the needle, except maybe UCONN as a full member.

People need to stop pretending this is a thing.

          • It’s mostly not about those particular teams it’s about the amount of inventory per time zone. Of course you want to have the most interesting possible teams in each time zone, but networks like to be able to put together a full slate.

Remember when NuclearBeav said Republicans would never win another election due to demographics? Lol. Was that guy good at anything?

    • 10

Americans chose to destroy the liberal nation the founders built with the Constitution and elected an authoritarian oligarchy instead. This was always how the republic would die. Little sad so many Americans did it for an obvious conman that is just going to drain the treasury into his and his buddies bank accounts. Trump learned well from Putin.

The best part is that Trump voters are the ones that will be most hurt by his 1929 level tariffs and 1790’s immigration plans. We are about to get exactly what we deserve. All because 50+ percent of voters believe outright lies. It is kind of neat living through the end of our still, but not for long, great nation.

      • 2
        3

Instead of blaming “America” you should blame your own electorate who choose to stay home at the tune of 18 million votes less then last election. 1 in 5 democrats or Democrat voters choose to stay home then vote. That number blows trump away if you get them too the polls in this cycle, but for some reason Mrs Harris didn’t connect with them. Probably because she was a poor candidate.
For reference Trump had 4 million less votes then last election.

        • 6
          3

No, I blame America. All of it. Because America did it. And unlike MAGAs I don’t think half the country is my enemy. I think they are very dumb and don’t know what they had prior to choosing fascism/communism yesterday but they aren’t my enemy.

And honestly, anyone that calls Harris a “poor” candidate to defend why people voted for a literal traitor. And Trump is a literal traitor.

A traitor is always the worst candidate. Sad how few Americans saw that.

          • 5
            5

            A) You do know the votes aren’t all counted yet?
            B) And? WE (as in we Americans) still elected the fascist/communist
            C) I find it sad you see the world as Democrats v Republicans but it’s a very MAGA way of viewing America
            D) Harris’s entire campaign was Reagan’s 1984 campaign (that won 49 states) beat for beat. So it’s pretty wild what 40 years of propaganda has done to our country. And in a sad way.

          • 6
            6

This is a good take. Modern Democrats are ~90% just like 1980s Republicans. No doubt about that. It just shows how radicalized the far right has become. The far left, too, but there is literally no candidate for those people. Maybe Bernie? That’s about as good as it gets for them. This is a Right country that just got totally nuts. I don’t even know what this is, but it definitely is going to resemble something more out of Russia than anything the founding fathers envisioned.

          • 3
            4

I agree that the far left is radical too. I just don’t understand why Democrats whom ignore the far left keep getting blamed for the dumb shit the far left does. Again, back to the propaganda.

The far left actually has more power within MAGA than it does within the Democratic Party. Fuck, RFK, a rabid leftist, is going to be in charge of HHS.

          • 6
            7

Because I don’t agree with the Democrats bringing in literally 10 million illegal immigrants as well as the cost of living that is tied directly to this administration and it’s policies I am a nazi, racist, and bigot. As well as a deplorable piece of garbage. Yep, I voted for a man that is so obviously Hitler, Stalin , and Mussolini all rolled into one scary package because he showed that he was that in his 1st term.
Get ahold of yourself youngster or go make a video to put on tik tok with the others that are losing their minds.

I am in no way losing my mind.

You clearly have lost your mind though. Lots of bullshit you believe in that post. Good stuff.

And I don’t use TicToc, unlike you and Trump I hate communism and communists.

          • 3
            2

Well there was a bill to stop that immigration and the guy you voted for made them not pass the bill. I’m not convinced those people didn’t vote Trump (if they were infact allowed to vote). The cost of living was tied to Covid/Trump policies during Covid, but you’ll never see that, so it is pointless to point it out. And it’s pointless because this is over. When this goes really south, just be sure to come back and admit you were wrong. Yes?

          • 1
            1

The bill allowed asylum seekers to stay in the US until their immigration statues was changed to citizen as opposed to staying in Mexico or another country until that status was changed which is what the Republicans wanted. It was was going to be codified as a result so it would take a monumental challenge to change it later to better fit the future of immigration. The original plan was underfunded and would take an asylum seeker 10 to 15 years to get through the complete process because the immigration courts would be flooded. It was a bad bill all around and a few democrats voted against it also if I remember right.

          • 1
            1

LOL, Trump won’t get a better bill without

            a) eliminating the filibuster (which was bad when Democrats wanted to do it)
            b) ignoring Congress (which is bad because you know, the Constitution)

But you voted for Trump because of an and b, you know he will ignore Congress and the Constitution, that’s the feature not the bug for you.

          • Pretty sure it was expected to pass and was considered a compromise by all that all could agree upon. Here is the other thing: immigrants keep costs down. Especially things like fruit and vegetables. If Trump truly does deport immigrants, it’s another strong buoy for inflation. I don’t really have any opinion on immigrants, but I think a lot of the negatives were overstated, and I rarely/never heard anyone talk about how inflationary deportation would be.

          • Yes the counts aren’t done yet but trump is still getting around the same vote tally as the last 2 elections. Harris flat didn’t get the democrats too the poles. She would have smoked him if she did. If you think I’m just spewing shit, go rewatch the Young Turks on youtube and listen to Cynks commentary about what happened, it’s the best take I’ve heard so far.
BTW I’m an independent and voted as much.

          • 2
            2

Okay, again, I do not fucking care about Democrats. You can view the world in that MAGA way of Democrats vs Republicans, I’m never going to join you.

The fact Republicans have moved so far in 40 years that Reaganism is now seen as unacceptable says way more about America than Democrats not showing up. Why does Reaganism need Democratic support? Reagan used to be a deity to the GOP, now he’s a RINO.

That is really sad, truly weird you can’t just admit that.

          • 3
            6

Would you define someone who literally sold access to foreign powers and took millions in bribes as VP a literal traitor and poor candidate as well? Just curious..

Your take is interesting. How do you account for Trump gaining in blacks, hispanics, Jews, Arabs, young men, and adding in his overall support if he is in fact a “literal traitor”?

Trump has been the outsider, going against the machine of Washington. He has been attacked from all sides for 8 years and yet you only believe the simplistic trope “orange man bad, must be destroyed”.

          • 1
            2

Are you asking if I care about a thing you made up that never happened? The answer to that is no.

I can’t account for anything related to Trump, why any American would throw away the greatest liberal nation to ever exist for a conman is something I will never understand.

As to your last paragraph, you do understand the “machine of Washington” (otherwise known as liberalism) is WHY America is the greatest power the world has ever known? Trump has been “attacked” from all sides because he is a CRIMINAL that commits CRIMES.

You do understand the globalism Trump and his voters hate is quite literally the reason the US is so rich and powerful? His entire campaign was about how America sucks. The fact it worked on you is sad but I can’t answer why beyond stupidity. Stupidity, meaning not understanding why America is rich and powerful, is the only explanation for wanting a nationalist that will destroy that wealth.

          • 5
            3

Are you saying Biden never took bribes or sold access as VP? He wasn’t the Big Guy?
Do you think Hunter’s laptop was a Russian operation or was it real?
Is Elon Musk a stupid dupe?
Why would RFK Jr leave the Dems and back Trump?
Explain why Joe Rogan, a longtime libertarian backed Trump?

          • 1
            3

            Yes, Biden never took bribes.

Which laptop? You do know there were 2 laptops? Guessing you didn’t know that.

No, Elon thinks he can use Trump to make himself wealthier and Elon doesn’t give a shit about liberalism, the constitution, or America.

Because RFK is a Leftist and Democrats ignore Leftists, Trump is more of a Leftist than Harris.

Who the fuck cares what Joe Rogan does? And I already explained I can’t explain why anyone would support Trump. My guess with Rogan? He is doing what is profitable for him. Same reason as Elon, self interest.

She did eschew progressives which are roughly 45% of Dems in DC, but underrepresented by that ratio, because liberals and other right wing Dems figured out gifting corporations bad policy reaps campaigns money.

Instead, she hung out with far right hawks, like the Cheneys.

The anti-genocide crowd meant it when they said they would sit this one out, barring substantial change in our official position on genocide.

And anyone that pretends Trump isn’t a wannabe dictator is just dumb enough to vote for a wannabe dictator.

Understanding what happened, what we face, and not being in denial doesn’t mean I am not calm.

I truly hope you get everything you obviously voted for. Everything. I actually agree with HR McMaster that the people that restrained Trump in his first term shouldn’t have. Now, no one will be restraining him. Enjoy the ride, you bought the ticket.

Guys, I don’t think people realize how inflationary Trump is…tariffs are a tax on the people buying goods. That is higher costs. Bond yields must rise to offset that, which crushes the economy. Trump is so so bad for the economy. My request: when this comes to be (just like Riley, Seth Collins, McCoy, et al) come back and actually have the guts to admit it. You will be poorer under Trump. Much much poorer. The only reason this didn’t happen already is Trump bailed (or was fired) right as the inflation he created began to pick up. Remember: he spent more than any 1st term president in US history, tariffs, he gave a rent moratorium, he gave out checks, he made the fed cut rates, he said he didn’t care about inflation because he’d be dead. Yet, people voted for this person because of inflation. Just please come back and admit you were wrong somewhere around year 1-2 of Trump (inflation takes ~1 year on average to show up in an economy, so I’m expecting 2026 massive Trump inflation). If he tries to offset that by cutting social programs, that is equally awful for the economy (a likely depression) and just flat out amoral to the people hurting most and people who likely voted for him. I get being upset about inflation. I don’t get not taking the 10 minutes to understand inflation when millions of lives depend on getting that vote correct. Instead there was a correlation/causation confusion that because Biden was in, he caused it (again, it takes 1 year for inflation to show up; by definition he could not have caused it, and Trump put the policies in place that did cause it, as noted above). If you voted for Trump because of something like you want a man’s world, then fine, but if you voted him because of inflation you made a grave error. Have the balls to come back here and say so in 2026.

Trump’s tariffs proposals could cost the average American household an added annual $2600 (per Peterson Institute for International Economics). This figure is currently cited by mainstream media.

What you’re missing is the tax cuts that can occur when a smaller, more efficient government is in place. Households will easily recoup the $2600 and still have much more money in their pockets. He wants to create a pro-U.S. manufacturing environment. Something our past “leaders” have stifled and almost destroyed altogether. Tariffs are also a bargaining tool. This stuff isn’t hard.

If I’m wrong, sure, hold me to saying so.

LOL, in what world was Trump running on a “smaller more efficient government”?

That might be the most absurd thing I’ve ever seen anyone claim.

Trump’s entire campaign was about how he’d use the power of the government. Trump isn’t a conservative, he is a statist. He won’t be shrinking government. Firing career federal employees to install loyalists into the jobs isn’t shrinking the government.

            You are such a fool.

            1

Well clearly you don’t pay attention to anything he’s said. In either case, it could turn out to be the same old. Bill Clinton, George W. Bush and Barack Obama all fed similar lines arguing that the federal government is too big.

Can you speak without being insulting? Maybe that’s why you lost. Take notes next time.

          • I pay way more attention to what Trump says than you do, that is quite obvious.

And LOL at your crocodile tears because you feel insulted. Trump’s entire campaign was spent insulting America and every American not dumb enough to join his cult. You should have actually listened to him, it is quite obvious you didn’t. But it is somehow okay when Trump insults people, but if anyone insults Trump or his big strong supporters they turn into the biggest snowflakes on Earth. MAGA are truly the weakest humans I’ve ever seen.

And a manufacturing economy? Is it 1972? We need an information economy. Manufacturing ain’t coming back.

“Firing career federal employees to install loyalists”…

Now that we are in a fascist regime, the appropriate terms are boot lickers or toadies, not loyalists.

            LOL

            Seriously?

Are you really going to pretend Trump didn’t insult everyone that didn’t support him on a daily basis? And you claim you listened to him? You are truly softer than a mypillow.

It is truly sad how brainwashed you very clearly are.

            1

I’ll spell it out for you. I am not Trump. You know that, I know that. Deflecting and gaslighting to justify your behavior. We get it you are upset and looking to take it out on someone.

          • So because you’re not Trump you are incapable of admitting objective reality?

I’m not deflecting or gaslighting, you are doing both.

Trump insults America, Americans, and anyone that wasn’t in his cult on a daily basis. Gaslighting yourself into pretending he doesn’t just proves you’re lost to his cult.

          • My previous comment will suffice once more. Maybe you are not trying to gaslight and just can’t comprehend. That’s fine, no hard feelings. Good luck to you.

          • No, you’re doing what MAGAs always do when faced with the truth about their Dear Leader and attempting to change the subject.

Good luck creating your fascist/communist new America.

            1

Nope, I was happy to engage in (civil) discourse until you got insulting for no reason. The whole point of my last few comments. This is why the conversation is over. Feel free to continue inserting your gaslights (including accusing me of gaslighting LOL!).

          • 1
            2

Sorry but Trump supporters don’t get to demand “civil discourse”

Not while supporting the least “civil” candidate in United States history.

Like I said, you bought the ticket, enjoy the ride. Don’t like being insulted, don’t vote for traitors.

          • lol… this is some funny kool-aid

I think the best you can do is point out that Biden kept all the tariffs, because the TJCA won’t pay for itself until two years after all marginal tax cuts (except the highest incomes) sunset, which would be 2028, right now. Restarting them will simply kick the can down the road.

Studies also show that in addition to the reduced revenues collected, households who make $114k or less see no real savings.

The effectiveness of propaganda is pretty astonishing in the modern world. But it takes advantage of the fact that there is soooo much information out there that the majority of people can’t distinguish fact from fiction. You have to have some sense of the facts before searching for it. And if you were never educated about how the economy works, you’re going to believe the information that’s easiest to understand and benefits you most. My poor mother blamed Biden because she was losing money from her retirement account even though she wasn’t depositing anything and had increasing RMDs every year. Oh well, I guess we’ll see if Trump can magically make her account increase…

AI might help with this. You can ask it how inflation is created and which presidential administration created the most, etc, and it will aggregate every opinion (and fact) into one small piece.

        • I don’t see the country being around by the end of 2026. A catastrophic increase in the cost of living would destroy whatever social fabric exists.

          • I honestly don’t think Dumbshit lives another four years. He noticeably deteriorated over the course of the campaign. And Vance has all the charisma of a flushed tampon.

Just enjoy watching people suffer from their own decisions. You tried to care about them, but they just need to own their future for a while to let it sink in, if it ever does.

          • I do agree that Trump looks like he’s already dead.

But Vance is smart, Vance will be just above the law as Trump is. And Vance is just as committed to fascism as Trump.

          • It won’t matter if Trump lives 2, 4, 8, 16 more years. Who cares.

What matters is the titanic financial insolvency the federal and state governments face. No one has a solution for that.

Can you folks please take this crap back to X or msn or fox chatrooms? This is supposed to be a diversion from all of the political BS. Both sides have gotten far more extreme and the fear mongering is just idiotic. It’s lunacy to state that Kamala was moderate. Our country and way of life would have survived either candidate just fine.

        • Kamala was moderate, that is just a fact.

I am sorry you hate reality but pretending she isn’t a moderate doesn’t change reality.

Kamala ran on Reaganism, unless you are arguing Reagan was a left wing extremist or Kamala/Reagan are bot right wing extremists you are gaslighting yourself.

          • 3
            2

Yeah, she was slightly Right just like Obama and Biden. The modern democrat is the old school republican. It’s why there is little different between Biden and Mitt Romney. It just shows how extreme the far right (and left, but they’re irrelevant right now) have gotten IMO. It’s like the New York Times (Harris) vs ZeroHedge (Trump). There is a very clear and drastic difference in those mediums.

            1

Yeah, it is wild to me how propaganda has tricked people.

4 major policies Harris/Reagan share that Trump/MAGA oppose:
-Signed an immigration bill that was 95% amnesty. Weaker than the one Kamala would have signed
-Put US in its first Climate Treaty (Montreal Protocol)
-Was a strong supporter of NATO and hated Russia and communists
-Reagan was even for gun control, he wrote an oped during Bush’s Presidency

And that’s not all of them. Plenty more. Just some major ones directly related to Trump extremism.

          • You don’t mention price controls, universal healthcare or significant tax increases. Those aren’t moderate concepts and would’ve been considered socialist 20 years ago. Cherry picking which only shows your bias. I will not go further as you have no intention of discussion, you know all and everyone else is a bunch of idiots. You and your rigid thinking is what is plaguing our country on both sides. Both sides are wrong and both sides are right, the truth lies in the middle.

          • Trump ran on more price controls than Kamala. The only such law Kamala proposed is one that 40 states already have FYI (including most red states). Trump promised gas prices would drop, insurance prices would drop, home prices would drop. Why aren’t they “price controls” when Trump promises them?

Harris didn’t propose universal health care or significant tax increases (she factually ran on middle class tax cuts). Trump ran on significant tax increases (that is what tariffs are).

I’m not cherry picking shit, you claiming Harris ran on 2 things she didn’t even propose and 1 thing 40 states already have to justify calling her a socialist. Which is adorable.

I agree the truth is in the middle, which is why I supported the MODERATE candidate.

You are just a stubborn fool. From her own website, https://kamalaharris.com/issues/.

As President, she will direct her Administration to crack down on anti-competitive practices that let big corporations jack up prices and undermine the competition that allows all businesses to thrive while keeping prices low for consumers. (Price fixing, though I’m sure you will argue otherwise)

Vice President Harris will make affordable health care a right, not a privilege by expanding and strengthening the Affordable Care Act and making permanent the Biden-Harris tax credit enhancements that are lowering health care premiums by an average of about $800 a year for millions of Americans. (Steps toward universal healthcare, can’t be argued).

And while not on the website, she has focused on increasing capital gains taxes, corporate taxes and a variety of other tax generating revenue programs to subsidize more welfare programs. (Tax increases, again can’t be argued)

But I wouldn’t have whined like a little bitch had she won…

            1

Paragraph 1: Yes, that law already exists in 40 states. I would also point out that the last President to actually put price caps into action was a Republican not a Democrat (it was Nixon). And either way, why can Trump propose price controls and it’s not socialism when he does it?

Paragraph 2: The ACA is not universal health care. And I can definitely argue it isn’t “a step towards universal health care”
The ACA is a handout to private insurance companies. Universal health care would be Medicare for all and eliminate private insurance.

Paragraph 3: She ran on a middle class tax cut. Period. Trump’s tariffs are a middle class tax increase (cannot be argued).

You’ve put yourself in a nice pretzel trying to convince yourself that Reaganism is socialism to justify supporting communism though. I enjoyed it.

FYI, Kamala’s coalition ran from Dick Cheney to Bernie Sanders so what exactly is that particular side? I’d call it the “we love America and the Constitution”

Meanwhile Trump’s coalition horseshoes from RFK to David Duke.

On any political spectrum Trump has both extremes and Kamala has everyone else.

          • Socialism has none of those systems, and the people who threw the word around (incorrectly) 20 years ago are now called socialists by Trump.

          • The Pac 12 is a socialist org, btw.

It meets the two basic tenets necessary–a democratic form of agreement, and part of that agreement has to reward merit. Schools keeping half their postseason earnings meets the second. Us and Wazzu earning more for a bit would be merited, because we saved the Pac and the PTN, at considerable cost and time spent doing so.

Full scale collectivization is antithetical to socialism, because it’s void of merit.

          • I come here to complain about sports… not to listen to amateurs opine about politics.
Now… has anyone here tried the BlueChews?

  31. “…receivers coach Kefense Hynson is bullish on Oregon State’s receiving group.

“I appreciate the group, because I think those dudes are really playing better than I probably thought going into (the season),” Hynson said. “If they stay together for the next couple years, we’ll be really good. I think they’ve made the most of the opportunities they’ve been given.”

Hynson looks at Oregon State’s receivers a bit differently than fans. He knows it takes time and patience.

“I guess I didn’t have much expectation at all,” Hynson said. “I was just kind of waiting to see who would emerge. Who would take advantage of opportunities. They were all recruited here to play football. … I think guys have stepped up and made plays, and they’re still growing, and there’s more plays to make. But I’m happy with the group.

The receiver position obviously involves more than catching and running with the ball. A receiver doesn’t even get on the field at Oregon State if they can’t block in the running game. There are myriad responsibilities at the position. But in the end, the world views receivers by the number of receptions, yards and touchdowns they accumulate.

    Hynson’s measure of a receiver?

“Assignment. Every play has got an assignment, specific that you either do or you don’t. Productivity, right? When you have an opportunity to make a play, do you make more than you don’t? Ultimately, it’s trust. Does the quarterback trust you? Does the coordinator trust you? Do I trust you? Your teammates? It’s a combination of all that,” Hynson said.

Hynson says the low number of catches by receivers beyond Walker – like Noga, Clemons, Reddicks – has to do with opportunities.

“You can’t throw yourself the ball. You can’t call your own plays,” he said. “Those guys, relative to their targets, have made plays when they had a chance to. Obviously, there’s more to make. Everybody (who’s) ever played football would tell you that. But I don’t think it’s a lack of anything they’re doing.”

In watching video, Hynson said receivers are getting open. There are plays when they can do better, he acknowledges. But Hynson doesn’t think lack of separation from defenders is an issue.

Walker has figured it out. He has led the Beavers in receptions in every game, catching at least seven passes in five of eight contests this season. Hynson says Walker has thrived by paying attention to details.

“He’s been here for a while. He’s seen really good players and how they prepare off the field. He’s smart enough to improve. He takes to coaching, from myself, but also the veteran players who helped him along the way,” Hynson said.

Hynson considered Reddicks and Clemons capable of the No. 2 role. Both have been slowed during their careers with injuries. In Clemons, Hynson said he’s playing faster since returning from injuries. Hynson likes his upside, because of Clemons’ talent, smarts and grit. As for Reddicks, who has started six of eight games this season, Hynson likes his endurance, speed, smarts and aggressiveness.

That’s not to say someone else won’t emerge. Could be David Wells, who has the team’s longest reception this season at 55 yards, speedster Zachary Card or one of the promising freshmen like Jordan Anderson, Malachi Durant or Eddie Freauff. Could even be a receiver not on scholarship; Walker and Noga were once program walk-ons.

“I’m going to coach the 15th guy the same way I coach the first guy. Sometimes when you give the 15th guy that much attention and that opportunity, he becomes the first guy,” Hynson said. “It’s not my job to put a ceiling on a player.”

    https://www.oregonlive.com/beavers/2024/11/oregon-state-receivers-coach-preaches-patience-if-they-stay-together-for-the-next-couple-years-well-be-really-good.html
