From the Oregonian:
The junior college early signing period for mid-year transfers begins Wednesday, and the Beavers hope to pick up commitments from several juco prospects that have already made their official visits.
December graduates looking to sign during the early period include: Walnut (Calif.) Mt. San Antonio College wide receiver Alonzo Agwuenu and defensive lineman Visesio Salt; and Palm Desert (Calif.) College of the Desert linebacker Cade Cowdin.
Looking ahead to January, expect the Beavers to make a heavy push for defensive players. Of the 16 players currently committed, 11 play on offense.
Some players who are expected to make a trip to Corvallis next month include 4-star DB Marcus Rios and 3-star DE Nate Lese both from Elk Grove, Calif., ATH Jonavaughn Williams from San Juan Capistrano, Calif., and 3-star DB Kevin Peterson from Wagoner, Okla.
Marcus Rios is the big news.
At this point, I feel safe saying the Beavs have little shot with Salt or Williams (and probably Peterson, too).
Hope Rios is looking for a “family atmosphere” because he has offers from all over the map and can choose to go pretty much anywhere he wants.
We’re in the top 5 for OT Colby Cyburt (Colorado, Oregon State, Stanford, UCLA and Washington) and WR Kenny Lawler (California, Oregon State, Michigan State and UCLA) as well.
I feel like we go through this every year. Beavs are in the mix for some A-list guys in January, but they strike out on every single one. e.g. Brandon Sermons, The Sacramento guys, etc. It just happens every year. At this point I figure they’re going to fill the cupboard with low hanging fruit as always, and if I’m wrong it’ll be a pleasant surprise.
Yeah, it definitely feels that way, because we always have 50 offers out for 5-6 scholarship slots, so we are going to lose a lot of battles every year. But we win a handful of the bigger prospects at the last second.
Akeem Gonzales last year. (10 offers, committed Jan 28th)
Shaydon Akuna 2 years ago. (9 offers, committed early Feb)
Marcus Wheaton and Michael Phillip 3 years ago. (lots of offers, both committed mid January)
Is it because Riley and staff are such nice guys, these recruits can’t give them a straight up no? Seems like this things drag out and never fall the Beavs way.
Interesting tidbit slightly OT, …maybe you guys know this…apparently OSU had a second chance at Suh…he almost transferred to OSU when Callahan got fired. Can you imagine Paea and Suh for one year together?
Yeah I am pretty sure we would have had at least a Rose Bowl with Suh and Paea
Yes I heard that back then and it still kills me today. Can you imagine Oregon trying to run their little read-option play with Paea and Suh blowing the Oregon offensive line off the ball each play? Makes you wonder what it would be like today for the Beavers had that actually happened. Too bad for us.
Suh would have been nice. I heard he had the transfer paperwork filled out and everything, just didn’t send it.
It all came down to our weightroom. Suh liked what they had at Nebraska a little bit more than ours
I was always pissed with Riley and staff that they lost Suh to begin with. It obviously worked out in the end for Suh, but he got kind of lost at first with those godawful Nebraska defenses (I think one was the worst in NU history). Riley should have been vocal about what an idiot Bill Callahan was as a selling point for not going there! Maybe Suh could have been playing in Rose Bowls by his sophomore season instead of giving up 70 points to Tech! One can dream!
Nice guys don’t negative recruit, and Riley fans looove that trait.
Gimmie some DT’s
Amen!
Don’t want to sound like a Riley Hater… cough, cough… but I think OSU is an easy sell right now. “Young man you can see playing time right away… we have a great running back recruited, a great quarterback, great receivers too.” “This team is poised to be great!” “Great family atmosphere.” “Fans with blind faith in you.” And more stuff like that.
But I just don’t think they sell it and haven’t for years. Come on we have the last 10 years in our favor minus the last 2 which one could spin to why we are the better choice. I don’t buy the you can’t recruit to OSU. I bet Meyer could or Saban could. Facilities are nice and all, but players want to play and they want to win.
Recruiting to OSU is no different/more difficult than anywhere else. Basketball and baseball prove that it’s not the location, it’s the coaches and their pitch.
Hater :)
“Recruiting to OSU is no different/more difficult than anywhere else. Basketball and baseball prove that it’s not the location, it’s the coaches and their pitch.”
Washington State proves that.
Cowdin committed

He is married?
If he is quoted as saying, “my wife and I,” why do you ask if he is married? Not being a smart-ass, just curious.
Is this guy any good? Offers from USF and Miami are nothing to scoff at…
So why have we struck out with Salt?
Must be the low sodium diet.
Haha
It’s cool, we didn’t even want him anyways lol
I don’t think he liked the town. Reading between the lines on that one, but that’s my impression.
Not enough pepper?
Cowdin………..the next Croatian sensation?
Seems like ASU got a first class a-hole for a coach.
Basically. He’s a downgrade from Erickson, IMO. June Jones is a better coach than Graham. That guy is a fraud. He spoke about a commitment to the team and the next day he bailed and didn’t even other to personally tell his players. He had one of his assistants tell them via text message. Classless. His players went off on him on Twitter. It was pretty funny. He’ll be fired in 3 years after his teams are .500 at best. ASU really messed this one up.
Isn’t this Graham’s fourth different HC job in like 5 years or am I thinking of someone else? Just on principle alone, no HC who loses to Utah with their D-2 QB should have been promoted.
That’s him. Went to Rice for one year and said he wanted to stay there long term and signed an extension, then he bailed to go to Tulsa and called it basically a dream job. He talked about wanting to stay long term, then after 4 years bailed to go Pitt. He called Pitt his “dream job” then took a 8-5 team with a nice amount of returning players, including the QB and took them to 6-6. Then he bailed on the team and went to ASU and said basically the same thing he said when he was hired at Pitt. He really isn’t a good coach and a lot seem to want him. I don’t understand it.
He won 10 games and finished 1st three years at Tulsa. That’s pretty good. I assume that’s why people want him.
Tulsa seems to do very well in C-USA no matter who’s the coach. Didn’t Kragthorpe has some nice teams?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Todd_Graham#Coaching_career
His resume isn’t that bad.
Job jumper. Would you buy a used car from him?
Josh Banks to Washington.
Riley probably told him we don’t really need DT’s. Anyone know anything about Ioane Gauta… Scout shows him as a guy we offered.
that hurts, he would have played sooner at Oregon State than he will at UW
F,F, F. We are screwed.
OT, but it appears that by me abandoning the whole topic of Jonathan Smith for OC worked!? Cause I just looked at the football forum and it appears that Angry is thinking of the idea of J Smith as the OC. Rock on! :)
He’s definitely growing on me. He called a good game when they were on TV a few weeks ago. I’d like to see some more. Montana doesn’t have great offensive stats this year (look mostly like a rushing team)..not sure how they fared last season..?
Unless the Beavs land two legit JC DTs, they will be atrocious on D next year, too. Striking out with Salt/Banks is a huge blow. They’ll be left picking through the scrap heap now, with long odds of them finding another Paea.
Can someone remind me why the staff never followed up with Iona or Molesi?
do you know that for a fact (just curious)? are Iona and Melosi being recruited at all by any other school?
Yes, they aren’t recruiting them anymore. At least not today; maybe they will start again given the circumstances. I guess Molesi hasn’t progressed at the JC level as planned. Last I checked (a while ago…maybe even last season), he had decent numbers. I am not sure what the deal is with Iona. I know he had language issues coming out of HS. I’ve heard mutterings the Beavers aren’t recruiting him anymore.
I don’t have a printed source but I’ve heard that from a couple people who are “in-the-know” about Molesi. Supposedly he was still interested in the Beavers all along but Riley and his staff showed him no love after he went the JC route.
Yeah, that’s what I heard. Sounds like bad blood, which would suck since they’re stockpiling other JCs (DeVante Henry, who looks awesome on film and I believe had an Oklahoma offer?) at Arizona Western.
Does Henery need a two year degree before he can sign? Molesi is history?
Henry had a preferred walk on spot at Oklahoma. No scholarship offer.
Did the Beavs really strike out with Salt, it sounded like you read between the lines that he didn’t like Corvallis. There are some kids that just will never come to OSU.
This is truly Salt in the wound!
Well, he is quoted as saying he wants a place that feels like home, and none of his visits so far feel that way (note: he visited Corvallis). I don’t know if that’s reading between the lines or what. To me it means there’s no chance he’ll be a Beaver.
Thanks, I hadn’t seen that. That sucks.
Where is he from?
Cali.
Perhaps they should have staged a drive by to make him feel at home.
The Drive “by” is so 1980’s..
Could it be that Banker has been too busy wooing the Hawaii athletic department while dropping the ball on recruiting players for his defense here at OState? Sounds like the offensive coaches have been busy.
Banker is trying to get lei………….d. Can’t fault a guy for that.
Just a thought. Does anyone else think that MR coming out and saying that he was happy with the DT situation was just a way to deflect the failures of his staff at getting recruits at that vital position? So if we actually signed a decent one he could just say we really didn’t need him, but he was too good to pass up. If he had stated the obvious, “we really need to add size and depth at DT”, and proceeded to strike out(as we have). It would have called attention to his staff’s shortcomings in addressing the biggest need on the team.
He is going to waste the talents of Wynn and Cricthon by not have any DT’s worth a damn. Inverse of the last two Pea years.
sounds like a plausible theory.
To be fair, that was before Thompson died. I felt a lot better about the DT position then, too. You can mask 1 DT but not both. Thompson was legit, so they’d just need to plug one guy in there, maybe even Isaac S. That would have been a great tandem. Now?
No clue. I’m hoping Isaac S still moves to DT. He’s legit there. Then they’d just need to find one more serviceable guy (i.e. Castro?). Problem with Castro is he gets blown off the ball and doesn’t eat space for his size.
True. But we always seem to be hanging our hopes on one player at each position. Good programs always have a serviceable replacement.
I completely agree…needed a DT before Thompson, but you could at least understand Riley’s thinking more back then. I don’t understand it completely, though, because even with Thompson depth was a concern.
Must be planning on playing WR’s at DT.
Gwachum should start bulking up!
talk about a family atmostphere…
Andrew and Isaac on the line with dad coaching them.
And a mom type as the head trainer! How do the players like her. She could be a great recruiting tool to use with the recruits moms. A woman to look after their sons.
See, I thought Castro was pretty solid in the games he played last year. He’s not quick or fast, and doesn’t really produce a rush, but he did clog some space and stuff the run a bit. He’s a big dude with some game experience, so I’m not super-worried if he starts.
And if we do start to hybrid some 3-4 into our defense, that lessens the impact of bad or shallow DT’s; maybe that is why Riley is downplaying our needs there.
Can you think of Castro penetrating and making a play in the backfield once? He was usually 5 yards downfield. Really strange for a guy his size. He’d be average next to a guy like Thompson or Isaac S. But if he’s the main DT, I am very concerned.
He thought the buffet was five yard downfield. Won’t make the McDonald reference.
Gap control doesn’t require penetrating 5 yards past the LOS; that is what LBs and DEs are for.
If we had a pair of DTs that JUST made it hard to run up the middle, that would be an amazing upgrade. And you don’t have to get behind the line to do that.
Yes, if you want our DTs to get sacks, then Castro will not make you happy. I’d prefer our DTs protect our LBs and clog up the middle, like how the Ravens work(pro 4-3s), and for that job, I think Castro is very serviceable.
yeah Castro does OK in our system but I would still prefer an actual play maker. Also Castro is out of shape and that leads to injuries. I would be surprised if he makes it through the season.
I would love to look like the Ravens D. BTW, their nose doesn’t just clog up the middle, check out Haloti Ngata’s stat line from their first game against the Steelers this year. Ngata is a beast and does penetrate quite a bit to cause chaos.
He can’t get any penetration, which is key to stopping the spread offenses. He will hold his ground while Barner and the Duck backs zip past him for 8 yards. MR needs to recruit with one thing in mind.
Beating Oregon.
That is how LSU and Ohio State attacked the spread, and it worked. But that does not mean it is the only way to do so.
They did beat Oregon. Nobody else has. Yes I know USC did. Seems like a good template to follow.
Having 20 yard splits on the d-line is saying please gash us with runs up the gut.
UO has several losses since Chip took over: USC, LSU, OhSU, Boise St, off the top of my head. Seems to me the stronger theme between those four teams than DTs is LBs. Smart, fast LBs should be able to shut down both inside and outside runs.
Yes, great DTs can penetrate and disrupt the handoff of the spread-read.Sometimes. But 1. Even when we had Paea, we didn’t disrupt it very well, and 2. Great LBs should also be able to handle reading the offense and making plays both inside and outside of the box.
Can’t believe how out of touch BDC is with his Gameday experience comments for the GT article by Cliff. Blaming society that we are frustrated for the shortcomings and asking where were these voices in the last 7 years? This guy is in frickin denial. They need to get rid of the hick smalltime attitude, beaver biceps and improve the excitement at every level. There is much to be done and it is Beaver Nation’s job to voice it and BDC to make changes! Larry Scott said the Pac-10 under Hansen was getting left in the dust because they were so resistant to change.
He pointed that out as the greatest sin of all in modern athletics. Yet BDC and Riley dislike change about as much as anyone I have ever come across. Larry Scott says the Pac-12 has to be on the cutting edge and driving the future. Why does BDC try to keep pushing his stale 1990s ish dated image on our brand? Let OSU be cool based on our own colors and fans. Quit holding us back because you like quaint and boring. Rev it WAY up and get us nationally sexy to recruits or retire. We want a dang BCS bowl sometime and the status quo won’t take us there!
Hey, Riley was an assistant under a really good D2 coach in the ’80s!
Maybe we are switching to the 3-4 so don’t need the dt depth. Guess we will see..
that would be cool… although we could use some bigger DT’s for the NT position. That would explain all the JC linebackers too.
Castro is a big guy.
yeah but we need more than one injury prone NT
No kidding.
Gotta wonder if the plan was to rotate Thompson and Castro at nt…Thompson was a big athletic dude.
Now’s your chance!
Bob DeCarolis will be on 1080 the fan today – starting now (5 pm)
he’s asking for folks to call in with ideas to improve Oregon State’s athletics.
i’m assuming that last line was a joke? what’s left to improve?
Stop being defeatist. You have some good ideas? now’s the time to bring them forward.
That was it?
Man, that was lame. I thought we were supposed to call in with ideas?
Hmmm…that’s the way I understood the purpose of his appearance. Guess he called in too late.
Hopefully he was too busy locking down some big donations.
Same mindless drivel from BDC. Snails pace of change means OSU will remain irrelevant outside Oregon. I really have issues with this guy. He is way too into dull branding. Says we will continue to be underdogs which translates to “we are okay with losing games so long as we pull some upsets now and again”. I think Larry Scott needs to do an intervention on him on behalf of what Oregon St. could and should be. HELP!
Why hasn’t somebody hired the coach from UW Whitewater?
The only way to get BDC’s attention is to go over his head. Take the message right to the top.
Forget going to President Ray. He’s in his own little world up in the safe confines of Kerr. Man is as clueless about what is going on with the school as they come.
Bob Care Less has no intention of making improvement changes to OSU athletics. Bob is a do nothing person and can not either think outside the box himself, nor accept new ideas which are outside his small “has been” box of thinking. It seems to me like MR is really running the show not BDC. Someone should ask for an investigation as to the real reason MR got his last extension. USC did not want him as a coach, they just talked to him like many others.
No new recruiting is going to change or improve our football program as long as MR is head coach and he stands by his deplorable coaching staff. This is not defeatism talking….face it…its the truth…..deal with it. The best we can hope for over the next 3 years is mediocre football and a possible low end toilet bowl game….maybe. So, if fans and donors keep sitting on their fat arse and do nothing, then they deserve what they get……losing football….period.
I really didn’t believe Beaver fans and donors were 2nd rate until this year…….realizing that our neighbor uck fans would not tolerate the losing seasons nor Civil War loses like we did. Uck fans would demand, in numbered force, the removal of the head coach and possibly the athletic director also. Beaver Nation is lame. I did my part, but nothing can be done without numbers….bottom line.
I need to decry the copy and paste of speculative crap. Illegitimate news outlets may get away with this kind of garbage, but it smells a little like you’re headed for a pay wall with a pasta-against-the-wall attitude.
What does “pay wall” mean? Not familiar with that term.
Think, ESPN insider.
question- i had the understanding that isaac seumalo was supposed to play offensive line, not DT. I definitely agree with those who are saying DT is the biggest need, but i would argue the oline was the worst unit on the team last year. if the plan is for him to play defense, does that mean the guards will be the same as last year?
Enger and Andrews are solid OG’s. It is too early to write in Seumalo as a starer there is a chance he might not even play until his RS Sophmore season if he stays at OG.
Does anyone know the status of the UH coaching search? I get very excited at the thought of Banker leaving the team, now I am hoping for that to become a reality.
He is 1 of 4 candidates who will be interviewed for the head coaching position. So, there’s a decent shot he could be their next head coach. He’s competing with Texas assistant Duane Akina, Dirk Koetter, and a mystery candidate who I believe is Norm Chow. From what I’ve heard Koetter and Banker are the top 2 candidates in that order.
That is what I had read elsewhere, the rumor last week was that interviews were to begin this past Tuesday. When do they expect to conduct interviews?
Chow has already been interviewed over the phone I believe. I think Banker will be interviewed in Hawaii either this weekend or Monday. Same with Koetter. I’m hoping Banker has a great interview. I’m hoping Hawaii doesn’t do the smart thing and hires him.
Chow? Geez, Hawaii might as well interview Gary Crowton and Andy Ludwig. Then all of the “OC Whores” can have a shot at the job. Unless Hawaii is going to seriously invest in their facilities they might as well throw a dart. I guess the good thing is that expectations are kind of low….just get to 7-6 every year so the team can play in the Hawaii Bowl. Is you can’t do that then watch your back! Banker should fit right in.
Interviews Sunday. Baylor assistant is one of them as well. Koetter is remote? Chow a mystery? I think Utah’s DC is the mystery interview. He’s already on the rock, and he’s been on the down-low about the whole process.
Supposedly Banker is in the final three. The other two are former ASU, Boise State Head Coach Dirk Koetter and Rich Avina, an assistant at Texas. We’ll see. JB
PS: I turned down an interview at Hawaii. As you all know I have unfinished business in Corvallis.
Duane Akina… Rich Avina is close enough.
OT… who wants to know what I think of Lynn Snyder?

The G-T on Ryan Allen’s winning the Ray Guy award – several interesting comments, many of them positive about OSU and Riley:
http://www.gazettetimes.com/sports/college-football-former-osu-punter-wins-ray-guy-award-with/article_25995a20-2947-11e1-ab6c-001871e3ce6c.html
To think, he almost got into the game to kick, but then OSU went out and converted its third downs in the second half. His stats for this year are pretty damn impressive, and he’s got a year left to improve.
Goodbye Johnny “The Shank” Hekker….
Allen is very magnanimous, very mature about the whole thing. Obviously, he would not have fit in at OSU. Notice nowhere in the article was it mentioned that he has the second best arm on his team.
There’s always something positive about loyalty, and giving a ship to another specialist would always raise complaints from some sectors. But sometimes taking chances like that help your team. What happens if Allen stays at OSU, gets a ship and sits? It’s not like we don’t have any of those players on the roster at other positions.
Speaking of outstanding homegrown specialists does anyone know if Portland State’s 1st Team All-American placekicker Zach Brown, was ever on OSU’s radar at any point? I think he went to McNary, but I’m not even sure if he played HS football, I think he was a soccer star.
Brown had many scholarship offers to play soccer, including OSU.
A bright young assistant coach on Jerry Glanville’s PSU staff noticed his football potential at McNary while scouting Kylie McCray (sp?). They offered Brown the chance to be a position player in addition to kicking. He saw some action as a wide receiver in the “run and shoot” in the 09 season.
Since that year he has specialized in place kicking only, with remarkable success. Look for him in the NFL. JB
Perhaps someone smarter than I can address this but I feel that Coach Cav is getting a pass when it comes to the inefficiencies of the O-Line the past couple of years. Everyone is throwing Riley under the bus for the weak recruiting but shouldn’t this be on Cav’s shoulders as well? I also think Cav’s inability to recruit quality O-lineman was masked by the fact that we had Jacquizz who made those guys look better than they actually were. Am I completely missing somethere here?
He only recruits Arizona, so the guys who recruit other states must go to Cav and say, “we spotted OL xyz, you should look at him.” If Cav gives the okay, Riley then looks at the film and gives Cav the okay.
This process wasn’t broken this year or last year (it’s actually improved in that time span); it was broken in 2007 when Gilstrap passed away, as he was the person who watched film/spotted prospects. This is why we saw Remmers & Co mutiny the line right after Gilstrap passed away. There was some legit reasons (injuries, grades, transfers, etc), too, but the primary reason was the AD didn’t replace Gilstrap until 2009 when the put Gundy in charge of watching film.
Interesting comments / prospective by Ted Miller today in his blog about Graham, Riley, and coaches in general: http://espn.go.com/blog/pac12
What I found more interesting was Larry Scott’s take on “one league” consisting of 72 teams that maximizes television revenue. Said it before, but in the near future, I probably won’t care about college football as develops into more of a pro league/tv model.
Yeah I found that one really interesting too. I think Larry Scott is a very progressive thinker and I think he is correct. It is not about the money, it is just about the money. Question is will OSU be in that 72 and will we be a contender?
What a dolt. Pitt was lucky to lose Graham. Likening OSU to the AD’s at UCLA or ASU is an insult of the highest degree. Graham will never, ever win a Rose Bowl. He’ll be lucky if he wins a majority of his games.
Pitt is crying foul, but I don’t see much difference with them leaving the Big East and Graham bolting after a year. They’re both pimping for a better opportunity, correct?
Whoever is calling plays for the Dolphins is doing a great job. Moore having another good game, too.
Yeah, but one of the CBS guys mentioned that GM Ireland kept his job and his number one priority is “finding a QB”. That’s nice for Moore to hear. Especially as he throws a perfect ball to Marshall for a TD!
Salt to Florida.
No big surprise… I saw Machado said we had 2 JC DL visit this weekend, who were they? I refuse to pay for information. The only way I would pay someone for football related info is if they had a time machine and could send me forward to see how it happens, not try and tell my their opinion.
With Banks to UW, who’s left?
Subscribing
shut up
???
Fwiw – I took that to mean they thought that you were subscribing to Rivals.

Sometimes I want to get updates of all the posts in a thread, but if I don’t have anything to comment on I just subscribe to the thread by responding “subscribing”.
Tonight’s game vs. Portland St. should be up tempo and fun to watch. OSU has too many weapons for PSU to hang in there til the end in my opinion and I believe we win by just over 15 points. PSU will scrap but OSU will get good all around contributions and cruise late as they go to 9-2.
OSU 87, PSU 70
Portland St @ Oregon St. Preview:
http://beaverbyte.com
Brandon Browner! Stud.
Crap, my Packer’s lost!
Mine too!
What do the Beav coaches see in Cowdin that I’m missing? He’s so slow and lumbering. I don’t get it. I assume he’ll be a MLB? Even still….meh.
4-star WR Javon Williams visiting OSU.
Hopefully he can tackle, speed at MLB isn’t a complete necessity as the plan is to filter all the plays to the MLB as long as he can tackle and plug the holes. Needs to be smart savy and tackler.
Marcus Rios to UCLA.
Think we’re going to lose Caleb Smith to Arkansas, though it is not official yet.
How do teams like UCLA continue to get recruits? It’s seems no matter what is going on they are getting the “high star” guys. What are we doing wrong? Don’t give me the “it’s hard to recruit to Corvallis” line. Baseball and basketball prove that wrong. Salem is 40 min from Corvallis, if a recruit needs a big city there you go!
Plus UCLA is in turmoil! Yeah they got a new coach who seems to be maybe a game changer for them but why wouldn’t you go to OSU where you’d get immediate playing time with a coach who has been there established and ain’t going anywhere for 150 years.
I really think we just plain ol’ stink at recruiting except the occasional lucky catch.
UCLA has hot Cali girls who wear little clothing. Plus, a lot of the guys OSU goes after are from LA. So, the home city/State will have the edge. It’s always going to be easy to recruit there. OSU could definitely recruit better than they do. I’m just answering why it’s so easy for UCLA.
Mark Banker: Hawaii would have “entertaining offense. “We’re in the entertainment biz.
http://www.gazettetimes.com/sports/osu-football-banker-interviews-for-hawaii-position/article_bb1f6d8c-29e7-11e1-88fe-0019bb2963f4.html
Funny to hear Banker promising an entertaining offense…I’m sure he thinks its an expectation given the run-n-shoot history there.
With his defense, it better be entertaining!
Banker recruits for OSU in Hawaii? Please, you knowledgeable angry beavs, give me some history as to players who have come to OSU because of him. Despite a recent article in one of the papers – probably written by the football staff – about how recruiters search “high and low” – I don’t believe it. Re: the juco transfers – California isn’t the only part of the country with junior colleges that play football – going to California isn’t looking high and low.
Marcos Rios to UCLA
“The University of Hawaii administration has authorized athletic director Jim Donovan to negotiate a contract to make Norm Chow the next Warrior football coach.
Chow emerged as the top choice from three finalists after a meeting of key UH officials Monday night, according to an official familiar with the situation but not yet authorized to speak publicly.”
