    • Yes, he walked three guys, threw 3 strikes. 3! I hope Pat Casey has finally learned his lesson. Baylis is bad. Pat Casey also green lighted Barnes in the first inning on a 3-0 count and he hit into a DP. Could have had a big inning. Pat has made some interesting decisions early on this season.

  1. I hope today is the last time Cole Baylis starts. He’s so bad. Can’t be having the bullpen come in relief in the first inning.

  2. Jake Rodriguez’s defense behind the plate has got to get better. Way too many pitches get by him. It’s 3-0 St. Louis in the second

    • I saw 5 passed balls in SB. He only got charged with 2 or 3. The SB fans were making fun of him and muttering things like “man they have a lot of passed balls”

  3. I wouldn’t come down on Casey so hard this early in the season. Wins and losses mean less now than does building player’s game experience, confidence, reaction to adversity, etc.
Of course he’s not infallible but dude has proven himself.

    • I’m alright with a lot of his decisions, however, starting Cole Baylis over a guy like Matt Boyd is simply illogical. You can’t put the offense in big holes right from the get go. He gave up 8 runs his last start and couldn’t get out of the first inning today. That puts a lot of pressure on the bullpen. Matt Boyd should be starting at the very least until Jace Fry is back, maybe for the remainder of the season. He’s one of their bet pitchers, why not start him? Casey is a really good in-game coach but some of the guys he starts make no sense.

  4. Dylan Davis doubles. He’s really starting to swing bat a lot better as of late. Beginning to adjust to the pitching a little better.

  5. If Starr can keep the Billikens at 3 runs the Beavers may take the lead in the next inning or two. Offense is starting to hit the ball well, feels like they may have a big inning coming.

  6. Nice job by Taylor Starr to get out of a 1st and second and no outs jam. He’s keeping the Beavers in the game, offense needs to take advantage and put together a great inning offensively.

  7. Beavers finally into the Billikens’ pen. Time to take advantage, Billikens starter pitched a good game, good to see him gone!

  8. Beavers catch a break. Throwing error by Billikens third baseman allows Dunn to reach, Davis scores. 3-2 Billikens, two on and two outs for Tyler Smith

  9. Zack Reser comes in for Taylor Starr who went 5 innings in relief and gave up 3 runs. After a rocky 2nd inning he was pretty good. His pitching from the 3rd on kept the Beavers in the game and allowed them to rally and take the lead. Beavers needed a pitcher to come in and pitch this way. Nice performance.

  10. I usually hate listening to baseball on the radio but here in my garage brewing up a witbier for the Portland Cheers to Belgian Beers competition and it’s quite enjoyable. Lotta sitting around for 15-20 mins at a time so it’s perfect.
Of course the beavs being ahead helps.

      • I’ll probably have a few gallons extra only because I’m not a huge fan of this style, it just happens to be my wife’s favorite.
It’s similar to hoegaarden so I thought I’d enter it in the competition and see what happens.
Come to our Flat Tailgate Society Tailgates out at the fairgrounds during fball season and you can taste several popular home brew styles.

Nice closeout of the 8th by the beavs! We got this.

  11. Beavers get no runs from that situation. Keyes needs to start coming through, he’s hitting under.200 right now, they’ll need his bat.

  12. Looks like the Beavs are in pretty good shape now. I’m been watching the Murray St hoops game, just curious as to what they are about and checking in on Gametracker off and on.
Also, anyone else notice all of the love for Northwestern hoops, I don’t think their record is that impressive, but a lot of the prognosticators have them close or in the tourney. I guess it’s because of their drought? Feel good story stuff.

  13. Beavers win 6-5. Bryant made things interesting in the 9th but got the save. Nice job by the offense to come back, Taylor Starr’s performance to me was the biggest reason for a win. Baylis put the bullpen in a tough spot and Starr pitched well and allowed the Beavers to not have to use up the bullpen for this game.
