Happily, I am going on vacation tomorrow. Sadly, I’ll be on the road Saturday and likely miss the game. Anyone know if the game will be broadcast in Vegas?
As far as who will win this game, I’ve got nothing. Not the slightest inclination.
I see a scenario with Cal jumping out early, Best gets some gashing runs, but then Cal will go into a lull and the Beavs offense comes to life. Also see a scenario where Best goes over 200, Canfield regresses, and Cal’s speed dominates the Beavers. It’s a coin toss. I do think the Beavs have an advantage in the return game this week, so maybe look for a TD from special teams or at least a 50 yard return or two. A top 25 ranking is on the line for the 3rd time this season. Three strikes and you’re out, Beavs.
On a side note, I’ll be up at the Washington game if anyone wants to get together. Also, you guys should make some good comments and predictions to make up for my lackluster effort this week.
I’m not too confident. I just can’t see that defense holding up on a long ball happy team (they seem to gash the Beavs for several 20+ yard pass plays when the secondary was tougher than they are now, and they could actually get pressure on QB’s). I can’t see them stopping Best either.
I feel it’s a USC game all over again, the offense trying to keep up with Cal, but failing to get over the goal line with the ball, as they failed to do last week vs. UCLA. UCLA has a good D, yes, but I just feel Cal will simply score too any TD’s (as Cincy did, AZ did, USC did) for the “finishing drives troubled” Beavers to keep up.
This is a real crossroads game for them. Win this and you have two winable ones before the Knights, I mean Ducks.
That crow is going down pretty well right now for me. Defense showed up big time and the O looked professional and workmanlike. Canfield finishes strong, has a good showing to beat the Ducks, and he’d have to be as high as a 2nd rounder wouldn’t he?
Anyway, gotta win out then let lady luck do her bit.
Seems there is always one game you want back, wish the Beavs could play Zona now. Same for Cincy (especially with their #2 in there). Those slow starts kill them.
Things could get crazy in the next few weeks, and we probably hope they do…the crazier the better (as long as the Orange keeps winning).
have fun, be safe
If you can get FSN NW in Vegas you can get the game. As much as I love the beavs, would be hard to stay in a hotel room while I was there.
I am gunna go against my gut and say that we win big. This will be the turning point that our D needs and our offense starts clicking like it did against USC. Cal is overhyped a lot this year and we really only have loses to damn good football teams. I sure hope we can win out and find a spot at the Holiday bowl.
I’ve been wishing for a Beavers/Huskers matchup (I live in NE currently) in the Holiday Bowl. That would be great. Like the Beavers chances better than the Huskers at this point. Since the In-Laws reside in San Diego, it would be a nice way to visit! (Used to live there too).
I saw agood Washington vs. Colorado Holiday Bowl (Corey Dillon/Koy Detmer) and a good Oregon vs. Texas game (Harrington/Simms). Love to see the Beavs in SD.
31-28 Beavers in another nailbiter. Beavs ranked #23 afterwards.
Ugh.
I was about confidently predict a win, but then I got word that Lance Mitchell is hurt and Suaesi Toomanytouchdowns is probably going to start. So considering we once again have the worst Safety in the world we we could see two unnecessary touchdowns given to the Bears. Could be a baaaaad, baaaaaad day for OSU’s secondary.
On the bright side, Hardin will be getting playing time, as Tim Clark had a concussion and was out all week, so our collective wish has finally been fulfilled. Clark will be available to play, but not as much, and I hope this shows Riley and Co. the error of their ways in not playing Hardin.
That’s all. I will now less confidently predict that the score will be OSU 24- Cal 21
Yeah if #28 is starting we’re down 14-0 before kickoff.
No chance you win that on the road.
That’s a pretty huge injury, and if true, I can confidently predict a loss with blowout possible.
Great thing is I’ll be driving to Denver and won’t have to see it. Less gin, less money spent on gin, and fewer deleterious effects of gin.
Angry,
I checked it out a little further and found that Mitchell could be ready for the game, however, Riley won’t want to risk his health too much so I don’t see as many reps for Mr. Mitchell.
But who knows, maybe tomorrow will change things
Haha. Oi. Yeah, unless something happens that surprises, I see nailbiter at best. With Best being part of that nailbiter. It really is a big game and I hope that brings some surprise from the Beavs side… here’s hoping, this one scares me too!
CastorNation maybe you can get together with your buddies Steve Sanner and JP? Or maybe Angie Machado will have you at her tailgater and you two could share some teeth whitening tips. Or better yet a meet and greet with your internet buddy Cliff Kirkpatrick.
No nailbiter as expected.. and Oregon regresses as expected. I think Arizona might just get to its first Rose Bowl ever this year. Good for them. As for us, I am hoping for the holiday bowl, although I can see a scenario where we get to the Rose.
The question becomes: who do you root for next week in Oregon/Arizona…think we have to hope the Ducks win that since we havea loss to Arizona. God that Arizona game going to bite us like Stanford last year.
Great win.
In Denver right now and actually got to see some of the game. My jaw dropped when I saw Oregon lost to Stanford. Then I giggled inside. Then I drank a French Connection in celebration.
Wow, rankings just released and the Beavers didn’t crack the top 25. #26 in the AP. That’s pretty disappointing and equally surprising considering Stanford is #25 and we beat them (and #20 Cal).
I say Arizona has a bit of smoke and mirrors going for it. They’ve yet to play Oregon, at Cal, and at USC (not to mention their rivalry game at ASU). My prediction: when the smoke from all that clears Arizona won’t be in the hunt anymore.
Gotta root for the ducks, then the Beavs gotta beat them in the CW. That’s the only way the Beavs have a chance. Problem is even with that USC has to lose another one, which I don’t think they will. USC has the rest of the season in the Coliseum, Stanford, UCLA, and Arizona. On paper Stanford and Arizona might appear to be possible losses, but I don’t think in reality it will happen in the Coliseum.
“Gotta root for the ducks, then the Beavs gotta beat them in the CW. ”
That’s what I’m thinking too, just taking a cursory glance.
“USC has the rest of the season in the Coliseum, Stanford, UCLA, and Arizona.”
I think any of those teams can beat USC, and I think at least 1 will. There’s a lack of awe towards them this year, and Stanford and Arizona have a lot ot play for. UCLA always plays them tough.
Yep I think we have a shot, maybe this is our year.
