As Jack would say, Cook was available for a reason. Looks good on paper but carries a modicum of risk. If the online does not improve substantially, running back name will not really matter much.
“I told Victor I want him to know the run plays,” Andersen says. “Because if we’re in an empty situation with five receivers on the field, we could put him in the backfield and hand him the ball. (Incoming freshman receiver) Paul Lucas is another guy like that. We need all those weapons we can get.”
American Pharoah won the Preakness. Best chance I have seen at Triple Crown in quite some time. Todd Stansbury right now is closest thing in Oregon State AD race. Call Byrne Divining Rod and Casey Dortmund. Massari bringing in the rear.
Is there a darkhorse out there? Don’t like the idea of an interim AD if it confuses the selection process at all. Cal situation turned into a mess. Prefer agrressively targeting leaders now and either hiring right after the 4th of July or by mid August right before the start of the Football season.
How long are they gonna let Rasmussen go? Three straight lead off walks and over 100 pitches. Looked sharp early and has given up only 3 hits, but………….
KJ two more RBI’s, 7-2 Beavs, on to the b8. The Kiwi is done for the night, Sam coming in to see if he can get 6 outs.
Who will start vs the ucks now that Tweedt is in tonight?
9 straight wins at Sunken Diamond. Someone with a wikipedia account want to name the Oregon State University Beavers as the owners of Sunken Diamond? Home away from home
OT- Don’t know anything about the author, but he ranks OSU as one of the top 5 programs in decline among the football power conferences. I think it’s interesting because we all seem very energized by the changes in Corvallis, but I’m wondering where the intersection of expectation and reality meet at this point (at least for the short term)? That being said, the author does spout a lot of the typical Riley/Corvallis cliches.
Sure, Riley, “made the jump to another program”. More and more it is obvious that Riley was pushed out, thank goodness (or Ray, or BDC, or “influential boosters”).
Note that this writer is paid by the same folks who are providing our gal Lindsay with a platform.
mckalk has a valid point, the intersection of expectations and reality is coming up fast and will be worth watching.
This dude doesn’t seem to have his facts straight either. I would like to know how we can be in decline when we have nowhere to go but up… literally. Playing against the Pac South is hard and daunting and all that? If we didn’t do that last season, we would have had zero conference wins.
I’ll need a definition for decline. If we’re already at the bottom, where do we decline from there?
It’s interesting because this guy is pumping up Riley for the achievments, but giving him a pass for the decline. You can’t have it both ways. I’ve never heard of the author and I didn’t realize it was SI related when I posted it…maybe it’s Lindsay under an alias?
As expected, Lund gets the start today. Not so predictable: Clark is in at DH, Hamilton lead off, and Gillette in the 5 hole.
GO BEAVS! The importance of a win today cannot be overstated.
Wow. Ducks sweep Utah. Only took until the next to last weekend of the regular season for them to sweep someone. theyll be brought back to reality on Tuesday
Our friends at The Oregonian are pumping hard to keep the Ducks in the playoff picture. Every story seems to have a line or two about this win or that win keeping their tourney hopes alive. I see a clear dividing line in the conference and the Quacksters are below it, but you never know what Phil Knight’s money can do.
I was laughing at the Beav runner shadowing the guy at 3rd base basically standing right behind him. Dude would’ve tagged him out had he just turned around
Cal wins 7-5. Cal, USC and Arizona St now all with 10 losses. Beavs end the weekend all alone in 2nd place. Beat the ducks Tuesday first, get a series win against Cal next weekend should be enough to secure 2nd
depending on which site you look at, Beavs anywhere from 29-33 in RPI. Going to have to be around 20 or better to have a shot at hosting one would think
Yes they are. We are in line 2nd place and are playing our best ball the past few weeks. 3 of 4 should be enough but it wouldn’t be 100% certain. Win all 4 and it is a slam dunk we host. Pac-12 will be pushing for us to host with even 3 so I like our chances. Finish these last games strong and this team definitely deserves it. Goss Stadium is a great host site and the committee knows how well we support our team and love baseball in the Beaver State.
It is not a slam dunk even if the Beavs go 4-0 this week. Washington finished 2nd last year and got shipped to Nashville. RPI needs to improve to have a realistic chance
And we’re becoming a basketball school. Back when cool coach Robinson the savior started steering this ship, we couldnt even win a game! He single handedly took us as we were and turned our rough and tumble outcasts into Hall of fame players like J Cunningham, BJ Burton and Roberto N — some if the best to EVER do it!
Now all the kids that grew up idolizing those stars will sign with OSU because of what Robinson did by rolling up his sleeves and punching the clock, just like you and me!
Jacqui, don’t pee your panties cause somebody writing shit about Obama’s Bro-in-law. For most of us the Craig’s comment was tongue in cheek, your comment was just dick in mouth.
Had nothing to do with my response. What was written simply made no sense.
If I were to make it political, then I would push beyond scathing for a right-wing corporatist like Obama. So your retort makes little to zero sense as well.
But then that was all the point of your retort anyway. So there’s that.
The Beav’s RPI won’t get into the top 20, maybe not even the top 25 with a sweep.
I don’t see how they can pass a team in front of them to host a regional with that RPI rank. What teams could they pass that’s in line to host a regional?
Iowa is slated to be a host right now and they’re 29th in RPI, two ahead of the Beavers. A series win or sweep over Cal puts the Beavers in at least mid 20’s and a chance to steal that final hosting spot and Iowa has the Big Ten Tournament. A slip up from them and you never know. Not likely to host but definitely still a shot.
I have a better solution. Instead of adding teams, get rid of conference post season tournaments. The regular season conference champion is awarded the auto bid. Then we don’t have these ridiculous teams that come in with losing or sub par records because they got hot for one weekend. The entire regular season finish should hold the most weight. Not because one team had one great weekend. The RPI is going to continue being a joke as long as teams from the southeast can continue to schedule cream puffs and not travel for away games unless they are penalized for doing so. The Pac-12 has as many CWS titles in the last 10 years as the SEC yet every year the SEC and ACC iare given more at large berths than any other conference. Explain that one
Conference tournaments can be fun but it doesn’t give us the best 64 teams in the field. Campbell lost in their conference title game two years ago and missed out cause the schedule was weak. I thought they were definitely a top 30 or so team. Conference tourney cost them a spot in regionals. Baseball is a sport where the best teams in the conference will be where they should be with 27-30 game schedules. The regular season conference winner should always be given an automatic berth to regionals. Ridiculous that it isn’t the case already. Pac-12 has it the way it should be.
Way OT… I was made to watch this “amazing” play this morning. I immediately laughed my ass off. See if you can figure out why. It should be pretty obvious.
Yeah, I saw that during the game, the announcers couldn’t stop the knob slobbing long enough to mention that it was illegal. I can’t believe they drew that play up.
It is interesting. More subtle would have been if it was just a forward hand-off. That would still make it illegal, but at least I can see how someone might be briefly confused as to why.
There are two blatant holds in the collection of plays..one classic duck hold where the play bounces wide to the right, and one on the return…dude tackled a would-be tackler.
Stop whining, under amended rule 3.24, receivers for the University of Oregon are allowed to hook, grab and hold linebackers, cornerbacks and safeties because it looks cool and allows their offense to score lots of points which leads to BCS bowl games and much exposure and filthy lucre for the league.
Good news/Bad news from ESPN baseball scouts – baseball commit, Cadyn Grenier.
“Bishop Gorman SS Cadyn Grenier has moved up boards and could go as high as the second round. The Oregon State commit has good bat speed and hand-eye coordination and makes lots of loud, hard contact for someone who’s only 5-foot-10. He loads his hands high, resulting in either a very linear bat path or a downward sloping one, something I’d change in pro ball to create more loft in his swing. He uses his lower half in a way similar to Corey Seager — though he doesn’t have that kind of explosiveness — taking a big stride but remaining flexible in his lower half to maintain his balance.
He can move the bat around the zone a bit, too. I think he’s got a good chance to hit in pro ball with some adjustments and I believe the legs and hands to play shortstop should be there as well. Scouts are only concerned that a lack of arm strength might force a move to second base. If it does, how much power is Grenier going to have at maturity and will it play at second where the offensive standard is higher than it is at shortstop?”
Guys drafted in the first few rounds tend to turn pro so it seems like he won’t suit up for the Beavs next fall.
Sounds like bad news, but, speaking of shortstops, anyone seen news of Morrison’s current condition? At one point there was a possibility of return before month’s end.
Started several games for them the last couple years. Missed the rest of last season with a wrist injury.
Saw him play against NIU two years ago and he played well for a frosh.
i checked out one of his games a month ago when he was first rumored. look for the BYU/Utah St game he started in place of Keeton. He’s mostly pro-style, but showed the ability to use his legs to get downfield on a few occasions. He was on fire in that game though and didn’t need to run. I liked what I saw. Also, as mentioned below, he’d have to sit a year.
If you can find the full game video, its pretty impressive. It used to be available free through some BYu TV site i found, but for some reason i’m having trouble finding it again.
I bet it is, and I’d watch it if anyone can find it, but I’ve seen enough with those highlights. He threw the deep ball, deep out, short slants etc, all with proper velocity, height, etc for the respective throw. He just looks really good. Considering he had interest from Duke and other good schools, you have to believe he’s smart, too. My only issue is he can’t play this year, and I can see him complicating the picture next year, which is a good problem to have, but could also have some ripple effects.
Our recruiting twitter handle has almost 1,500 people? That is insane growth. Maybe start doing a #angrybeavs.com after each tweet so we get that massive influx of readers.
Found it. If i remember correctly, he starts out a little shake but really finds his groove as the game goes on. Also, they didnt go dual threat hardly at all.
also, regarding the tweet handle, i have a few ideas i’ll email you later to help bring in more readers to the site. It’s been growing really well, but at least half of the followers are recruits who probably wouldnt become regular readers.
I’m guessing that he didn’t want to waste another year behind Keeton and we don’t really know if Collins can handle the passing game at the P-12 level yet. He has a relationship with the head coach, saves a year and will be in the mix in 2016. In what I’ve seen of Collins, I don’t know how he stays injury free during his career unless he grows up in a hurry.
OT: Charlie Weiss. Getting paid by Kansas and STILL getting paid by the golden domers NOT to coach at either school, sit on his couch and continue growing his orbit. Dude could buy KFC if he wanted. Imagine the damage he and Lindsay could do to a buffet.
I fail to understand why any institution would hire Charlies Weiss to coach anything; not even at the YMCA. The thought of him directing kids/athletes to be tough, be strong, work hard, blah, blah, would be amusing if it weren’t so ludicrous.
Cal wins 7-2. Need a series win over them to secure 2nd place. I don’t see ASU or USC sweeping the other next weekend. Too much parity between these 4 teams. But first, buttfuck the ducks!
Also confirmed this evening that Darrel Garretson will transfer to OSU. He will walk on in hopes of earning a scholarship. Must sit out 2015 per NCAA transfer rules.
I like how they say he’s going to walk on with the hope of earning a scholarship. I really doubt the kid transferred out of a scholarship situation without a guaranteed scholarship spot to land.
Because the teams are scheduled to play each other. Pretty common for that to happen.
The team he signed his original LOI has the ultimate say where he can transfer to.
Rumor is Andersen news at 9 am is that Oregon State will be one of 2 teams featured on The Drive this year. Andersen sure mows how to raise the bar! Can’t wait. Very excited about this news.
Extra weekly behind the scenes coverage of OSU every week practicing, before, during and after games if we are selected. Believe an hour long show and we would get half of it every week. Great way to get to know this staff much better in Year 1 and get national focus on the program all season.
The extra HD coverage will be cool for fans, but does it really pull “national” focus? Who outside of Oregon and Utah is going to go out of their way to watch the Pac12 network?
it does look like a good opportunity for Andersen to sell his program to potential recruits, but is the pac 12 network even available outside of the major west coast markets? Like will florida or texas recruits have access to it?
Do people watch the SEC Network? Lots of people in Cali, Washington, Arizona and Colorado will see this. It’s some of the Pac-12’s very best programming during the season. Other markets like Chicago and DC get the Pac-12 Network just like I have SECNetwork on Dish. Those that like the Pac-12 brand of football and its coaches will tune in and see a gutsy program clawing its way forward. It is good exposure and will help recruiting as players will see what it is like to play for Andersen and Oregon State.
that’s what i was wondering. i didn’t think the pac-12 network was even available outside of LA/Phoenix/SLC/Bay area/Oregon/Utah/Colorado/Washington. Nice that people outside those areas will have access to it.
I did see one episode of the Drive with ASU a year or two ago. It’s pretty well done. Just too bad they had to go with 2 teams this year, but I’m assuming it’s all because those are 2 of their smaller markets so they needed to stretch their audience.
I expect viewership will be good this year. There are a lot of storylines between Oregon State and Utah and the good part from OSU’s perspective is that some coaches left that state to come here. When these two teams collide it will be fun to watch. Great exposure for this team and especially guys like Seth Collins, Bolden, Lucas and Hawkins. Sitake’s defense will also get prime focus.
The Drive is sort of like the NFL Hard Knocks combined with NFL Films but without all the cursing. The show is about a week behind. Shows practice stuff and in game sound features.
I just got around to listening to the Jim Rome show with the Andersen interview. Anybody know if Rome actually stayed in Corvallis so they could have dinner together?
The committee wants at least two regionals in the West. So how No. 15 USC (RPI: 23) and Cal State Fullerton (RPI: 29) fare this weekend should help determine OSU’s fate. The Trojans host No. 16 Arizona State (RPI: 32), while the Titans host Long Beach State (RPI: 73).
Therein lies the problem. Why should the west coast only get 2 while the southeast gets the other 14? The 2nd place ACC and SEC teams will be hosting regionals. So why does the Pac-12 and the rest of the west coast get the screw job?
Tweedt gives up a single and double but gets out of the first with no damage done. Anyone else see the graphic Tweedt is 5-0 with a 1.45 ERA as a starter? But an ERA over 7 coming out of the pen
you have a point I wonder sometimes if it has something to do with the number of SEC and ACC fans that show up to their games; I know the Beavers pull well but do other western team?
Should it matter? Right now the SEC is projected to have 4 regional hosts. Texas A&M, Florida, LSU and I forget the other team. South Carolina? Yet the 2nd place team from the pac-12 is fighting to host a regional. It’s biased and an uphill battle if you’re on the west coast
3 OSU errors this inning and Beavers are trying to give this one away. Would have skunked them if the throw to first that started it was 2 more inches on line.
It’s one thing losing to the toilet seats when it’s a transition year for us in football or basketball because those are more money driven sports anyway.
But baseball? We should be consistently kicking their ass in this. They made their team out of spite and threw money at it. No baseball culture. No fan support. No respect in the Northwest. No passion invested in the rivalry (we have way more Oregon/Wash kids). Fat ass coach. It should be natural order that they don’t beat OSU in baseball. WTF is up with this inning?
my god, when it rains it pours with this team. 3 fucking errors in one inning follows no errors last weekend and none thru 7 tonight. This inning should be over already
Willing to move Casey up in the AD race if he gets this win. Otherwise might have to move him down a small notch. This game was in the bag. Would not be good to lose it.
Beavs going to blow this one. I’m a moderate lean atleast for an external AD. Have to capitalize. Stansbury or perhaps someone from the professional sports GM offices are potential options.
Hard to say if Stansbury would really do enough to raise the bar. Part of me thinks by being exposed to the school while it underperformed in some sports he might become too comfortable with small gains. May take an external shaker upper who will hold coaches accountable if they aren’t reaching enough success. Would like to see an aggressive campaign for Reser as well that tries to maximize our position for the next 20 years in this league. Ray better be pursuing a talented and savvy AD. What do you think Ray’s voice is in comparison to the committee he has set up. Is he only the final approval? I ask as I didn’t see his name on the committee. Ray should be involved to some extent on determining who will most raise the bar for excellence at Oregon State. This is a big hire.
Yeah… Stansbury was so shell-shocked from his time at OSU that, while taking the largest school in Florida into a P5 conference, he just doesn’t have the vision or drive to do anything innovative.
That tiki bar and beach at stadium is pretty darn sweet. I sure hope they add some kind of pavilion to the new North side endzone. Between multi levels and accessible via the VFC too would be nice. Otherwise it will be a major must for the future West side rebuild. Why wait though. Build something like Banners into the VFC redesign so fans can love it starting next season. Should be twice as big as Banners.
New Era in most of the Beaver Major Sports. How much longer should Parker calling games? Seems like it might be best of we went a new direction in a couple years. He feels part of the old guard that is gone or out very soon like BDC. I get he likes his Beavers but I think we could elevate the football experience especially with a more confident and swaggier announcer.
why is he sounding like we need to take away his shoe laces because he sounds like he is on suicide watch. At least that is what most of the game he call sounds like when the beavers are losing
You’re just not going to win very often striking out 14 times. Put the damn ball in play. Ducks really needed this win and got it. It wasn’t life or death for the Beavs and they kind of played like it. Shit, I really don’t want to see the Ducks make the playoffs.
Interesting quotes from Nemec’s interviews with Oregon HS football coaches. Seems to confirm what has been said here: starting fast, reaching out, trying to find under the radar kids with a good fit rather than just chasing stars.
I’m assuming this is from the Olive article… picked up off the ESPN recap of the same piece:
Well, the first week that Gary Andersen was on the job he called me just to introduce himself. In (the decade-plus I’ve been at my high school) I never got a call from Mike Riley, so I thought that was kind of cool.
Just read it. I don’t see how 1+1 equals bitter. Nikegon’s coaches could have shown up and talked to the coach before now. Their actions say they were (and still are) big-timing his kids for years now. That’s not good or bad.
Is it?
It’s just their recruiting philosophy. It’s hard to argue they haven’t been successful finding players who will fit their system using this same philosophy. Maybe Coach D runs a pro set offense, and his kids don’t translate as well to the spread option on the next level. Maybe speed is the only factor they evaluate, and the Oregon kids are dismissed in evaluations because their a couple hundredths slower.
But for whatever reason they choose to big-time a coach and a school, it’s still big-timing.
Some free advertising for @beavrecruiting. Beavs top O-line target Michael Eletise tagged the account in some artwork featuring him as some Hulk/Beaver football hybrid.
Hope the Beavs can get this guy. As talented as Isaac Seumalo. Has a ton of offers. Cousins with 2015 commit Elu Aydon.
Now this is some amazing art!! Mahalo!! @BeavRecruiting #WeDamBeavs #BuildTheDam http://t.co/zAT4eyZntC
“Well, the first week that Gary Andersen was on the job he called me just to introduce himself. In (the decade-plus I’ve been at my high school) I never got a call from Mike Riley, so I thought that was kind of cool. They had a coach come by (recently), just kind of making the rounds, which I think is a good move. You need to get in the schools and at least act like you’re interested.”
-HS Coach
Another comment showing a better impression from Andersen than Riley.
Bunions? Better than gout.
Gunions really suck.
Tree’s 3b pretty casual (as said by TV announcers) on that play to finish the t2. 0-2 count and KJ produces that soft grounder……….luck ‘o the Beavs?
6 LOB in 3 innings!
Not getting the game in Central Oregon. Channel says OSU vs Stanford, but they’re showing ASU vs WSU…..
Same here in the Valley. I’m having to stream it from the PAC-12 website.
OSU game is on now, at least with Dish.
12 LOB after after 6. Not good.
13 LOB after 7
5-2 Beavs after 8.
All the mo seemed to be with tree, but then again, they have left a dozen on base; still, feels like Beavs are stuck in “coast” mode.
Beav’s eat Tree. 5-2
Nice to see Andrew get the W, he has had so many no-decisions and lack of offensive support this season.
Need to see the O get going and stay going; Rasmusen due for a good outing….I believe/hope.
BTW: 4 way tie for second in the Conf.

I thought there were some interesting connections in this article. If you’re having a slow day you might enjoy reading it.

I have heard rumors that Lucas may be used as a WR though- anyone want to comment on that?
Since best HS talent is usually utilized at rb, it makes sense to recruit Rbs. If they can’t make it at rb, they can used elsewhere.
I think, if we’re modeled off the USU playbook, we’ll be a heavy running team. Having that many backs is good for that I guess.
They want guys like Lucas because they can have them as a single back and change the play up to have them be a WR to go 5 wide if needed.
They have had Vic Bolden learn the RB playbook as well for this same purpose.
As Jack would say, Cook was available for a reason. Looks good on paper but carries a modicum of risk. If the online does not improve substantially, running back name will not really matter much.
Eggers and Andersen imply Lucas is a WR in this article:
http://portlandtribune.com/pt/12-sports/260238-132086-gary-andersen-is-pushing-pushing-pushing-at-oregon-state
Small mention but a big deal, Dashon Hunt retired for medical reasons.
Three weeks ago.
maybe someone’s been locked in a closet
Lucas is expected to return kickoffs as well.
American Pharoah won the Preakness. Best chance I have seen at Triple Crown in quite some time. Todd Stansbury right now is closest thing in Oregon State AD race. Call Byrne Divining Rod and Casey Dortmund. Massari bringing in the rear.

Ice starting again tonight, Harrison-Nobach-Cary in the middle of the order; no Gabe Clark in sight.
SC already whipped Cal, darn.
GO BEAVS!
What kind of injury does Jake Thompson have?
Cary a big opportunity, t3, 2 out, bases full. 1-0 good guys.
Bingo, Cary with a 2 RBI single!
Beavs up 5-1 in top of the 6th. Finish the series boys.
Disappointed with Billy Jean King…guess Pat was too.
When Bobby Riggs struck him out it was the last straw.
With one foot in a bucket.
Jack Anderson not much better, but he has the excuse of limited playing time. Strikes out after Cary is picked. On to the b7, 5-1
Tweedt will be fine by Tuesday
He sucks tonight.
So do the ducks. He will be fine
This broadcast crew sucks balls
As does our bullpen….
They are pissing the game away.
Awful at bats for Donahue and Hamilton. Bases loaded and no runs.
Can Hickey just throw strikes and let the D behind him bring this home?
Top of the order due up for Tree.
YES he can! Beavs win.
Not sure I wanted to see ASU win tonight, but, watching Carrot Top/Hamilton eat it was enjoyable. For some reason I really dislike that douche.

Tough to recruit to Corvallis, blah, blah, blah. Same shit regurgitated over and over in the national sports press echo chamber.

And there is this from D1Baseball, “Now this is how you handle getting plunked by a pitch, right?”

Had to watch it twice to be sure of what I thought I saw! Very “matter of fact” there!
Here you go. Found something you lost lol
As expected, Lund gets the start today. Not so predictable: Clark is in at DH, Hamilton lead off, and Gillette in the 5 hole.
GO BEAVS! The importance of a win today cannot be overstated.
Clark. Goes. Yard
Eckert ain’t going to last long I’m afraid. 2 RISP with one out b3. Beavs 2-0
Gillette with b2b diving catches to save Eckert. 2-1 end 3
Tree lining up Eckert’s curve ball.
Tree middle infield the gift that keeps on giving.
KJ with 2 RBI double. 5-1 in the 5th
KJ Harrison continues to have a hot bat with runners on base. Double plates two more, 5-1 Beavs
My fucking God. Bases loaded walk, 5-3 now. Pitch to contact!
With an RPI of 70, and 4 games against the Beavs and UCLA left, they aren’t getting in
Bullpen, or whatever you call it, at it again. Sacks juiced for tree with 2 down in the b6. Flemer on for Fox.
Jesus. 3 fucking walks and a wild pitch. Pitch to contact and trust your defense
WP gets by Lund. 5-2. BB the bases loaded. 3 walks in the inning.
Flemer hasn’t seen the mound in a while and this appearance doesn’t last long. Church in.
Going to Church on Sunday………..
Can anybody throw a strike?
Not this weekend it would seem.
Church walks one in
Throw Frickin’ Strikes!!!
Holy shitballs! Pitch to contact and look what happens???? Pop out to short ends the misery. 5-3 after 6
Pop up gets Church out of it after he down in the count 2-0. Bailed out.
Is that Lindsay Schnell in the light blue shirt and red Stanford hat behind home base?
If she has the 9 inning nachos in her lap and a bib on, yes
Pretty sure the aisle seats are reinforced, so yeah, it’s likely her.
Omfg! Lol!!! Never seen that before! Both runners were caught in run downs and get back safely lol
Me either. Amazing.
Cary strikes out, ball gets away from catcher. Cary safe at first and Lund scores from 3rd. 6-3 Beavs
Nice base running by Beavs after Stanford tried to catch a player in a run down. Card looked like the Keystone Cops out there. :)
Luck ‘o the Beavs?
BTW, Lund ran so much he had to be replaced by Ice behind the plate!
I was laughing at the Beav runner shadowing the guy at 3rd base basically standing right behind him. Dude would’ve tagged him out had he just turned around
If tree wasn’t pathetic we’d have lost this series.
It it pretty obvious why they are having such a rough year.
Nice hit Noback! 7-3 Oregon State.
Hendrix sac fly. 8-3 Beavs
Harrison ibb
Gillette rbi single, 9-3 Beavs
Cary triples to the gap in right center, two more score, 11-3 Beavs
Big two out hits by Gillette and Cary. 11-3
UCLA defeats Arizona, they are the outright pac-12 champions. No surprise there
Do they play the Quacks next weekend?
yes but they are still playing for a national seed. They won’t be resting
Good. I want the quacks to finish sub .500 in the league.
UCLA would need to sweep for that to happen. Bruins have not lost a series all season
Sweep works for me.
Carey has a beautiful swing. He is going to be a fantastic player.
Did you see that home run he hit against UCLA? That was one of the farthest hit balls I’ve ever seen
Yeah that was nice.
But, according to Parker, it is Gabe who has the longest HR this year. Just another reason Angry is no fan of Parker?
well according to Parker, Hendrix hit one out of volcanoes stadium that landed near I5. So who really knows
Who will pitch the bottom of the ninth?
12-3 final. Stanford, being the Beavs bitch since 2009
Now, Beavs need Cal to get off their asses and win one or both against USC today and tomorrow.
2-0 Prophylactics right now
1:45 mark. Strangest stolen base you’ll ever see
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3rSA0RRQjf8
Cal leads USC 6-5 in the 7th
b8, sac fly for Bears makes it 7-5
Cal wins 7-5. Cal, USC and Arizona St now all with 10 losses. Beavs end the weekend all alone in 2nd place. Beat the ducks Tuesday first, get a series win against Cal next weekend should be enough to secure 2nd
USC and ASU face each other next weekend.
depending on which site you look at, Beavs anywhere from 29-33 in RPI. Going to have to be around 20 or better to have a shot at hosting one would think
I havent followed very closely. Are the Beavs likely to host a regional if they have a good week next week?
RPI needs to improve to have a realistic chance
correction Oregon was sent to Nashville. UW played in the Oxford regional
That made no sense. Sorta sounds like Duck logic.
Not likely to host but definitely still a shot.
they also lead the B1G. OSU does not
Let’s see how long my changes stick lol!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Klein_Field_at_Sunken_Diamond
Haha 3 hours in and it’s still up
I made an edit on the right side of the page as well
That’s what he said. Better seek medical attention if lasts for four hours.
Viagra analogy is apt because this is more action than any Stanford sports article has seen in years
I have a better solution. Explain that one
http://www.d1baseball.com/the-buzz/an-idea-for-expanding-the-tournament/
It should be pretty obvious.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=thLMgFDlGgI&t=2m12s
Yeah, I saw that during the game, the announcers couldn’t stop the knob slobbing long enough to mention that it was illegal. I can’t believe they drew that play up.
It is interesting. More subtle would have been if it was just a forward hand-off. That would still make it illegal, but at least I can see how someone might be briefly confused as to why.
Yeah, Boise State kick return style. I thought for a second they were going to get away with that one.
You are not talking about the blatant holds are you?
It’s a double pass. Any shovel pass or forward hand-off is considered a forward pass.
It didn’t dawn on the idiot announcers that it was two forward passes on the same play? Nice….maybe I don’t want the P-12 Network after all!
And I didn’t notice, did the refs let the play stand?
Yes, they did let it stand.
I thought I remember reading PC say he could possibly be back for a regional
Is there a list of the class for next season?

Our sources tell us former Utah state quarterback Darell Garretson is headed to Oregon state. #gobeavs #usuaggies
Retweeted by BeavRecruiting
Anyone know anything about him?
Started several games for them the last couple years. Missed the rest of last season with a wrist injury.
Saw him play against NIU two years ago and he played well for a frosh.
I assume he will have to sit out a year and won’t be eligible until 2016
Nm. I actually read progressive Beavs words below the vid
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wd5_GjXlTx8
Has three years to play two, but does he have to sit out a year?
i checked out one of his games a month ago when he was first rumored. look for the BYU/Utah St game he started in place of Keeton. He’s mostly pro-style, but showed the ability to use his legs to get downfield on a few occasions. He was on fire in that game though and didn’t need to run. I liked what I saw. Also, as mentioned below, he’d have to sit a year.
He looks very good in those clips.
3-star recruit: http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/recruiting/player-Darell-Garretson-131805
Also, they didnt go dual threat hardly at all.
http://www.byutv.org/watch/17a2f6e4-b774-4415-8ebf-b467df87f8cc/football-utah-state-vs-byu-100314
also, regarding the tweet handle, i have a few ideas i’ll email you later to help bring in more readers to the site.
GA seems to have veto’d any non-athletic QBs so this really seems to come out of left field to me.

Cal looking Stanfordian in slopping themselves into an 0-2 first inning hole
Cal takes the lead 3-2 in the 3rd
Verbal hashtags need to die, especially in commercials trying too hard to be hip
Seriously.
More Wendy’s girl, less verbal hash tags.
I want Meathead Rob Lowe back bro! Hannah is cute but her horse is annoying and should wind up at a glue factory
Who is Hannah, and what is this horse you speak of?
The directv commercials that replaced the Rob Lowe ones
And sometimes hipness is what it ain’t?
OT: Charlie Weiss. Getting paid by Kansas and STILL getting paid by the golden domers NOT to coach at either school, sit on his couch and continue growing his orbit. Dude could buy KFC if he wanted. Imagine the damage he and Lindsay could do to a buffet.
http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/12910308/charlie-weis-cashing-big-paychecks-via-notre-dame-fighting-irish
I fail to understand why any institution would hire Charlies Weiss to coach anything; not even at the YMCA. The thought of him directing kids/athletes to be tough, be strong, work hard, blah, blah, would be amusing if it weren’t so ludicrous.
What’s up with all the Cal players sporting a porn ‘stache?
Cal now up 5-2 in the 6th
7-2 Cal. Looking like the Bears will be tied for 3rd with ASU, 1/2 game back of the Beavs after tonight. USC would be 1-1/2 games back in 5th
Cal wins 7-2. Need a series win over them to secure 2nd place. I don’t see ASU or USC sweeping the other next weekend. Too much parity between these 4 teams. But first, buttfuck the ducks!
updated conference standings

Also confirmed this evening that Darrel Garretson will transfer to OSU. He will walk on in hopes of earning a scholarship. Must sit out 2015 per NCAA transfer rules.
http://www.oregonlive.com/beavers/index.ssf/2015/05/darell_garretson_former_utah_s_1.html
I love this. At best, starting Qb. At worst, he provides depth and knowledge of the system. Collins will have to remain on his toes and earn the job.
I like how they say he’s going to walk on with the hope of earning a scholarship. I really doubt the kid transferred out of a scholarship situation without a guaranteed scholarship spot to land.
So, he wanted to go to Washington but Utah nixed it? Can someone please explain to me how schools can do that?
or is it Utah State?
Because the teams are scheduled to play each other. Pretty common for that to happen.
The team he signed his original LOI has the ultimate say where he can transfer to.
Rumor is Andersen news at 9 am is that Oregon State will be one of 2 teams featured on The Drive this year. Andersen sure mows how to raise the bar! Can’t wait. Very excited about this news.
what’s “the Drive”?
Extra weekly behind the scenes coverage of OSU every week practicing, before, during and after games if we are selected. Believe an hour long show and we would get half of it every week. Great way to get to know this staff much better in Year 1 and get national focus on the program all season.
The extra HD coverage will be cool for fans, but does it really pull “national” focus? Who outside of Oregon and Utah is going to go out of their way to watch the Pac12 network?
that gets a downvote? it’s just a question.
it does look like a good opportunity for Andersen to sell his program to potential recruits, but is the pac 12 network even available outside of the major west coast markets?
The running backs too. Chris Brown will join Storm Woods as a household name in the Northwest. Expect some great things from him this year.
Cali as in Colombia or as in Southern California? What about the part of the state north of Bakersfield?
On Pac-12 Network.
The Drive is sort of like the NFL Hard Knocks combined with NFL Films but without all the cursing. The show is about a week behind. Shows practice stuff and in game sound features.
ITS OFFICIAL! Two teams on “The Drive” this football season are Oregon State and Utah. This rivalry just got real!
I just got around to listening to the Jim Rome show with the Andersen interview. Anybody know if Rome actually stayed in Corvallis so they could have dinner together?
Here’s the interview for those interested
http://jimrome.com/2015/05/15/gary-andersen/
He kept calling him Mary Anderson and then Gary beat the crap out of him.
Whatever you say…Chris.
So why does the Pac-12 and the rest of the west coast get the screw job?
http://www.oregonlive.com/beavers/index.ssf/2015/05/taking_stock_of_oregon_state_b_1.html#incart_river
GO BEAVS
boo quackers
Tweedt gives up a single and double but gets out of the first with no damage done. Anyone else see the graphic Tweedt is 5-0 with a 1.45 ERA as a starter? But an ERA over 7 coming out of the pen
Maybe it’s like an anti-halo effect from the rest of the bullpen
If Moore does decide to sign after the draft at least Tweedt is a reliable option to fill a weekend starting role.
What’s up with the Michelle Pfeiffer racing stripe on the Beaver mound? Do you like it or does it look better bare?
I prefer neatly trimmed
landing strip…
Cool, so there IS an airport in Corvallis! Take that, Goe
Nice at bat there by Nobach
quack called back for leaning into pitch
The ball was probably sucked in by Horton’s gravitational field but Karaviotis was in the way
Tweedt out… uh oh, we’re into the bullpen’s bullpen
hope they don’t need a real Heimlich
and Heimlich with the balk : (
*choke choke*
did you hear the Horton’s pleading for the Ducks to make to post season wow made me laugh
on Pac-12 broadcast? I’m DVR-ing that and just listening to the radio
They won’t after they drop the series to UCLA this weekend
However if Oregon played in the SEC or ACC, with their record they’d be hosting a regional
you have a point I wonder sometimes if it has something to do with the number of SEC and ACC fans that show up to their games; I know the Beavers pull well but do other western team?
Should it matter? Right now the SEC is projected to have 4 regional hosts. Texas A&M, Florida, LSU and I forget the other team. South Carolina? Yet the 2nd place team from the pac-12 is fighting to host a regional. It’s biased and an uphill battle if you’re on the west coast
oh I agree but in the end it is all about the money
Cooper Stiles. What a douchy name
whiskey’s wiki edit is still up… shows how much people pay attention to Stanford sports
Let’s wait for Schnell or Goe to write a hard-hitting expose trying to investigate why OSU bought Stanford’s stadium
Nice. I didn’t think it would last this long
Shit. 2-1 now. Tying run at 2nd
Mike Parker just said Oregon is a good team. Clearly he’s had a long day because scoring runs against our bullpen does not make you a good team
The pac-12 announcers said earlier The ducks were a good defensive team. About choked on my beer from that one
Horton’s good at getting defensive, maybe that’s what they meant
Drew Rassmussen coming in to pitch
3 errors in the inning! What is it about playing the quacks that makes us so braindead this year?!
Defense unraveling
Money talks, duckies walk
my god, when it rains it pours with this team. 3 fucking errors in one inning follows no errors last weekend and none thru 7 tonight. This inning should be over already
Rally train!
The Toledo Hauler strikes. Beavs get out of it. 2-2 going to the last of the 8th. Heart of the order coming up. Need a run here guys!
Willing to move Casey up in the AD race if he gets this win. Otherwise might have to move him down a small notch. This game was in the bag. Would not be good to lose it.
Hendrix with some bad at bats tonight.
Agreed
I have a bad feeling about this game now. Prove me wrong Casey and the Beavs.
We continue to suffer from not having the killer closing pitcher.
It will be better next year. Pisser now.
Casey needs to get a sports psychologist on speed dial pronto
A hit please.
Not
Beavs going to blow this one.
Tartan!
http://www.orlandosentinel.com/sports/open-mike/os-ucf-tiki-bar-football-college-alcohol-20150126-post.html
Come on, Parker, Cleavinger is good but he’s not David Berg
he’s a close 2nd. Even I can admit he’s pretty damn good. Wish the Beavs had a lock down closer like that
New Era in most of the Beaver Major Sports.
Just take away his napkins and he will be fine.
Is the game mic IN the yuck dugout? Why do I have to hear those asshats talking up their players?
This is a bad loss by Oregon State. See you in the College Station regional unless we get very lucky.
Prefer the Houston Cougar Regional if we don’t host. Would be easier path and I think the Beavs deserve a plenty winnable regional.
I’d take Iowa over Houston
That would be great for me. Four hour drive!
No worries, as long as we get Stanford or Portland in regionals we’ll be fine
Gave up another one to the f**ks in late innings. This sucks big.
3 giveaways to the ducks this year. I sound like Bellotti. I don’t like saying that
Best argument against the existence of God and Karma:
Duck sports success
You’re just not going to win very often striking out 14 times. Put the damn ball in play. Ducks really needed this win and got it. It wasn’t life or death for the Beavs and they kind of played like it. Shit, I really don’t want to see the Ducks make the playoffs.
they aren’t. They still have 3 games vs UCLA this weekend
Isn’t the field decided on Saturday, though? So only the first game matters? I thought they were talking about that on the JB Show this week
No, field is decided on Sunday night
no, regional hosts are determined and announced on Sunday I believe
Interesting quotes from Nemec’s interviews with Oregon HS football coaches. Seems to confirm what has been said here: starting fast, reaching out, trying to find under the radar kids with a good fit rather than just chasing stars.
http://www.oregonlive.com/recruiting/index.ssf/2015/05/oregon_state_beavers_football_2.html#incart_river
fuck Nemec
I’ll pass.
No kidding. Let those that think it’s somehow something hedonistic jump on that “temptation.”
Forward thinking? That’s a neat deal.
If you read the UO article the same coach has some interesting things to say about the hole.
He or she just sounds bitter about the Ducks.

They had a coach come by (recently), just kind of making the rounds, which I think is a good move. You need to get in the schools and at least act like you’re interested.”

Another comment showing a better impression from Andersen than Riley.
Yeah, that was surprising. I figured he’d be calling just to shoot the breeze. Or maybe go to morning coffee with them.
… or maybe to talk football and kids in the coach’s area with skills from any age group.
