Helicopter hovering over the field to dry it out. Diamond dry being applied to outfield. It’s looking more and more like this will be delayed, probably several times throughout the day. But they are trying their best to get it going.
I also don’t like the fact the Beavs have to play first today. That field sounds like a mess and an unknown right now. An error here or there or an injury? Yikes
OT… Anyone know when Snell will be knocked down? I thought the only thing keeping it upright was because student media was in it. Now that they’re over at the SEC, can that eyesore please disappear?
On D1baseball.com, 4 of the 6 staff picked the Beavs to win the Dallas regional. Fitt picked Dallas Baptist, and then further down he was the only one to pick Oregon to win their regional.
all of this because Dallas Baptist sunk a bunch of money into a new ballpark last year, and the committee wanted to reward them for it by letting them host. Great decision
Longhorn network replayed it about 6 times. Wasn’t even close. More caught it before he touched the base and indeed touched the base with his foot. My god, Helen Keller would’ve called it an out
Moore 102 pitches, missing high, slow to cover first; time to sit? Only thing is, he has pulled through in the past in similar situations. Doesn’t sound like humidity or temp is a big factor for him today.
Fitt’s latest, “Well that was an unexpected turn of events. Brooks Marlow just deposited a fat 3-1 Moore fastball into the trees in RF. 2-run shot, tied up.” and, “That was Andrew Moore’s 117th and final pitch — enter the great Scotland Church. Thought Texas was in real trouble down 4-1. Nice comeback.”
Moore had really been battling for a few innings but over 110 pitches and you could tell he was running on fumes. Hard to believe nobody in the dugout could tell. Just setting Andrew Moore up for failure there
More Fitt, “Beavers retake the lead 5-4 on Kyle Nobach’s RBI double to right-center. Been a huge spark plug today, as he has all year — 3-for-4, 2 RBIs.”
Spark plug all year? Well, OK, especially if you consider his play in the outfield.
I’d like to see Church be given the opportunity to close this one out over Hickey. Church has been far more reliable the last couple weeks. Hickey is either really good or a mess out there.
Still think it was a bad move, but it worked. I don’t understand why you take out a guy you’ know is throwing well for one who hasn’t thrown yet…bird in the hand.
You can always to go Hickey after 1 batter if things get shaky.
Casey may need Church longer tomorrow. This was an intellectual move by coach to get two guys primed. You want Church loose but ready for heavy combat. You want to put in your freshman closer with a clean slate and limited stress. At least at this game and this issue, Casey is a master and you guys have kindergarten mentality.
Me too. I thought Texas was the biggest threat and had no idea how today’s game would play out. Beavs should win comfortably if they get a good start. I’m think 7-2 or so.
What a huge confidence bump for the entire team to be able to come back after letting Texas tie. With any luck the evening game will get rain delayed, go into extra innings, etc… While the Beavers sit back and wait for the winner.
Yes. Built a little confidence there. Down 1-0 early. Tied 4-4 late. This team should know to not get too emotional and to keep pressing. Yes, let’s root for delays, or even a rain out into tomorrow causing a double header. Also, I want to see Dallas Baptist not get to use their home dugout and to have to bat first like what happens to the Beavs when we host. I’m never sure how those ncaa rules work, but love to see the in our favor for a change.
As said before, it is likely to take more than 4 runs to win in the post season. When I said that I figured it would be due to pitching mistakes made by the Beavs due to weather, turns out today the weather didn’t seem to be the culprit. JMHO.
Virginia’s uniforms are almost as bad as the Yucks softball style costumes. I fully expect to see Nike craft some uniform where it says something across their ass, or in the tramp stamp spot, like the players nicknames or something.
Feels like we are getting the same guys we did under Regime RILEY.
The initial offers are much much better but the dudes who are actually committing don’t feel all that different. Looking at Pierce’s film he could breakout his senior year and jump to 3.5 – 4 stars but how many times have we also said that in the past?
I just watched his film and had the same thought: this looks like a Riley recruit. I think the sites and colleges have nailed this one, because he has a 2-star rating and Beavs were his first power 5 offer (has a ton of lower level offers). That sounds right.
the 2*/3* guys probably feel pressured a little bit to commit early, before the offer goes away, since it’s their best offer at the moment. In the last 10 years, in our best year we only had 2 commits by the end of may. 1 or 0 commits by the end of May was the norm. This year we have/had 5/6 commits (Clarke de-committed today too)
Jack was on that this morning in the previous thread. 3* RB, not a very good offer list, but that could change. Also gained a long snapper today for the 2015 class. Same guy we had been hearing about for about 2 weeks now.
I missed that… until I saw it on the twitter feed!
3-star? I think that’s generous. High 2-star, imo. Maybe he brings intangibles we don’t know about, but on film he’s not exactly shifty nor does he have breakaway speed, nor does he appear to be a bulldozer type. He’s a mix of everything…jack of all trades, master of none. That’s how I see this one.
I only called him a 3* guy because I tend to go with the 247 ranking over the Rivals rankings. I think 247 is basically an average from the other sites, balanced with their own evaluation. I don’t have an eye for evaluating talent, but given his size and weight, and that he’s going into his senior year still, I think 2* will be low for him after the next football season.
I’m not familiar enough with 247 to know how they compare with rivals, scout, or espn. I think rivals is the best. Scout seems to inflate stars, ESPN undervalues. I usually agree most with rivals. I also think the Rivals west coast evaluators are better than their East coast counterparts, in general.
From what I’ve seen of 247, they tend to over inflate a little.
I can see this player as a high 2 star or low 3, so it makes sense why the sites vary on this one. Even the offer sheet suggests he’s in that range. It’ll be interesting to see if he improves this year. If he can gain just a bit more speed somehow he’d jump up.
Check out the most recent tweet in the feed. The Pierce commitment is trending on Twitter? Wonder if all of the baseball tweets are confusing twitter into thinking every OSU mention is related to Pierce?
They’re definitely frauds. Best series wins were over Bradley and Oral Roberts. Beavers are pretty clearly the best team in the regional. Big reason I felt like pretty confident about them winning the regional.
jesus did anyone get an easier regional than Miami? Florida International, East Carolina and Columbia. If the Beavs survive Dallas I would fully expect them to have to go to Coral Gables
UCSB on the verge of losing their opener vs San Diego State after SDSU stole home in the 8th. Wouldn’t surprise me if they went 0-2 and got bounced. Team didn’t really deserve to host and are likely to have their season end quickly.
UCLA leading Cal-Bakersfield 6-2 in the 8th. Looking like the Pac-12 will go 4-2 today. Ducks actually caught a break with Missouri St game being postponed until tomorrow. Whoever loses that early game will have to turn around and play again against the ducks.
Yes, the #4 team from the Atlantic 10 is always a challenge. Their mid-week wins vs ACC opponents were sandwiched by weekend losses though. RPI is a very poor indicator.
WTF is it with these south teams and players with douchebag names? Add these two from Dallas Baptist. Trooper Reynolds and Tagg Duece. Seriously? Their parents should be taken out and shot.
In a hostile environment, after their ace had just surrendered the lead late in the game, the young Beavers showed admirable poise and resilience. Their counterpunch came immediately, and it proved decisive.
“When you’re running some people out there that maybe it’s their third trip to a regional or won a World Series, obviously you’ve got leadership that’s been in that situation, but very few guys have ever played in this,” Casey said. “These guys probably don’t know what to think of me because I’ve been as loose as you can be for the last three days, so they think I’ve lost my mind. But really, it’s their time of year. We’re not going to get any better as a team, we’re not going to do anything other than just play the game, and it’s their opportunity. They’ve put in the work, it’s about them. They get to showcase what they’ve done.
“Ultimately it comes down to players playing the game. That part’s fun for me, because I get to sit back and watch it a little bit, watch some energy, and watch guys grow. I’ve seen these kids grow up right before my eyes. Sometimes you’ve got to pat them on the tail, sometimes you’ve got to kick them on the tail. They’ve just got to go get it.”
Go BEAVS!
Go beavs
game will also be broadcast on the Longhorn network. Dish channel 407
Go Beavs!
angry did your twitter account go bye bye?
Go Beavs

Beavs Go!
Helicopter hovering over the field to dry it out. Diamond dry being applied to outfield. It’s looking more and more like this will be delayed, probably several times throughout the day. But they are trying their best to get it going.
Oh the irony, meanwhile in Corvallis its perfect!

Meanwhile, back at the ranch… http://webcam.oregonstate.edu/baseball/
That’s actually kinda sad. Someone just drove a cart around the infield and removed the bases.
OT… Anyone know when Snell will be knocked down? I thought the only thing keeping it upright was because student media was in it. Now that they’re over at the SEC, can that eyesore please disappear?

Trevor Morrison not in the starting lineup
The game isn’t on ESPN3 for me. MD/MISS game is on. Anyone know where to find it?
was pushed back an hour due to shitty weather/helicopters/fish on the field.
Apparently it has been delayed.
An extra hour for Jack to continue “jacking”
Is it an hour delay? Where’d you guys see this?
Never mind: I see the tweet above.
Nah… chaffing was occurring, so I went out and mowed the lawn.
Now I don’t have to do it over the weekend.
what a joke. looks safe to me lol

all of this because Dallas Baptist sunk a bunch of money into a new ballpark last year, and the committee wanted to reward them for it by letting them host. Great decision
So is the game only available on the longhorn network? I’ve walked into about 5 different bars so far and none subscribe to it.
It should be on ESPN3 also but hasn’t started yet
starting!
Let’s go boys!
It’s not on ESPN3 for me. Still have that same MD/MISS game.
It is working for me.
try http://espn.go.com/watchespn/player/_/id/2505405/
Thanks, that worked.
Beautiful start for Moore.
This Parker French is a punchable face if I’ve ever seen one. Dollars to donuts this pudgy bastard is a twirp.
A Mo certainly has brought it today. So far
I thought the same LOL. He looks like an a-hole.
What’s up with some of their names. They just ooze douchiness. Parker French? Brooks Marlow? Wtf?
Go figure… a Texas grocery advertising how they get fresh salmon… from Oregon.
…..and their outfield.
Hamilton gets a meatball on 3-1 and taps it back to the pitcher. Ouch.
Moore fucks up. Down one.
Texas is going to be a pain in the butt.
Moore struggling bad. Can’t throw a strike.
Can someone tell me where the strike zone might be located? With that last at-bat, I’m guessing it looks like a Congressional district.
Big K by Moore, game was in the balance there.
Oh great!
”Beavs weakness, from what I saw, is lack of slugging.” C’mon guys!
The Jason Quick curse has struck the program. Moore has no control and Devon Clarke decommits from the football program.
Where did you hear that?
https://twitter.com/BeavRecruiting/status/604386348351410179
That sucks.
Augie Garrido doesn’t look like he’s missed a meal in quite some time
This is a pretty good matchup for Billy King. He needs to deliver.
Ask and you shall receive. 2-1 Beavs now
Cal defeats Coastal Carolina 9-3. Oregon losing to Iowa 3-1 in the 8th
The ball is bouncing like a Croquet ball when it hits the outfield.
Schmucks making their typical comeback as they’ve got two on — both hit batsmen.

10 pitch inning by Moore, nice.
And OT, but is it me, or do the UT uniforms look like they came to the park with dirt on them?
Aaron Fitt
Aaron Fitt from Twitter

Beavers seem to have figured out Parker French – they have 8 hits in the last 3 innings, now lead 3-1 after 5. All singles to all fields.
Gretler the last week has been swinging the bat a lot better. His single brings King home. 4-1 Beavs
More from Fitt, “Horns not built to come back”.
Aaron Fitt’s not built to make predictions either
Any team can come back vs a tired pitcher, and Texas is playing their best ball of the year. No clue what Fitt is rambling about.
Texas sac bunting down 3 in the 7th? George Horton, is that you?
Moore starting to labor, almost to 100 pitches
The outfielders should probably play more shallow.
Sac fly makes it 4-2
Omfg! He wasn’t even close to being safe. What was the Texas player bitching about?
Parker French done, longhorns going to the pen
arguing that Moore missed the bag with his foot.
Doesn’t sound like humidity or temp is a big factor for him today.
disclaimer: no TV here
that catch by the texas outfielder was a difference maker. hope it doesn’t come back to bite us later. robbed of a homerun
Beavs need 6 outs and have a 2 run lead. Anyone else nervous with the state of the bullpen?
i am.
I
Nope! Nervousness is caused by uncertainty. I’m definitely certain the bullpen sucks.
If the outfielder can grab it, it wasn’t a home run
Thanks for updates fellas!
4-2 Beavs, top of the 8th
C’mon, Moore, pull through and save us from the bullpen!
4 outs to go.
Fuck. Left Moore in too fucking long
Pretty obvious he was done last inning. They just didn’t trust the pen…
I wonder what Aaron Fitt is tweeting.
Nice comeback.”
he’s too busy licking SEC and ACC taint to notice
Too Late Nate strikes again
Yep
Does he really override Pat Casey for pitching changes? That is a bad setup if true.
This is what happens when you can’t trust your bullpen : (
It’s been happening for years regardless of whether the bullpen is good or not. Yeskie sticks with guys too long routinely
yup.
Moore had really been battling for a few innings but over 110 pitches and you could tell he was running on fumes. Hard to believe nobody in the dugout could tell. Just setting Andrew Moore up for failure there
Beavs at a clear disadvantage now. If they win I’ll be surprised.
Winning run on first base!!
Beavs get a break. 3-0 pitch clearly a strike, and the ump misses it. Leadoff walk.
our bullpen won’t give up another hit… I have faith…
Angry where are you watching it?
That link someone provided above.

Ducks lose to Iowa 3-1
Way to go Hogeyes!
*
Kyle Nobach comes thru, double scores Jansen. Beavs lead 5-4
Let’s go!!! 5-4 and ice is being walked. One down I believe with nobach on 2nd
It’ll come down to that shaky bullpen. Should be an interesting 9th!
Go Beavs.
Oh wait, Texas isn’t built for a comeback. Game over, I guess.
Oh wait…
Kyle Nobach: Mr Clutch
More Fitt, “Beavers retake the lead 5-4 on Kyle Nobach’s RBI double to right-center. Been a huge spark plug today, as he has all year — 3-for-4, 2 RBIs.”
Spark plug all year? Well, OK, especially if you consider his play in the outfield.
More like Aaron Shit.
I’d like to see Church be given the opportunity to close this one out over Hickey. Church has been far more reliable the last couple weeks. Hickey is either really good or a mess out there.
I agree. At least let Church start the 9th.
Sacks full, 1 out. Could really use at least one more run here. I’d take a sac fly
Hopefully they blow this open and make the closer moot.
Back to back K’s. Butthole pucker time
What the hell was that?
The last pitch? Way outside.
It was over the other box.
Donahue has to have a more competitive at-bat than that. Not feeling great about this with Hickey trying to hold onto a one run lead
That ball was a foot outside. Wow.
Yup.
that was ridiculous
Those were some bullshit called strikes in last 2 ABs.
Please bullpen just three outs without giving up a run. Pretty please? Pleeeease?
Yeah, I really don’t understand going to Hickey here and predictably he can’t throw a strike
On cue. Three straight balls.
“At least let Church start the 9th.”
Why not do this? Any logic to this? Just “by the book” managing to bring in the closer..?
Is it too much to ask that the bullpen not fucking walk anyone when the batter doesn’t even take the bat off his shoulder?? Guess so
I forgot, we’re not allowed to question Casey. I retract the question.
And the Beavers win. Scoreboard, I guess lol
Still think it was a bad move, but it worked. I don’t understand why you take out a guy you’ know is throwing well for one who hasn’t thrown yet…bird in the hand.
You can always to go Hickey after 1 batter if things get shaky.
Oh well, great baseball game all around.
That’s what happens when you play Texas with a Casey instead of a Biley : )
yep. feels good to break their hearts
Compare Yeskie to Banker.
Casey may need Church longer tomorrow. This was an intellectual move by coach to get two guys primed. You want Church loose but ready for heavy combat. You want to put in your freshman closer with a clean slate and limited stress. At least at this game and this issue, Casey is a master and you guys have kindergarten mentality.
okay dude
I know I am, but what are you?
All forgiven because BEAVS WIN
Forgiven, yeah. But it still was a mistake to pull Church.
Yay bullpen! I promise I won’t malign you again! …until tomorrow
Liar.
Once Texas tied it up it didn’t look good. Pleasantly surprised they pulled this one out
Pitch to contact! Haven’t seen enough of that this year, Beavs Win on 1-6-3 DP after fly out.
Church with the 1 out W…that’s efficient.
Feel pretty good about the Beavers winning tomorrow as well.
Me too. I thought Texas was the biggest threat and had no idea how today’s game would play out. Beavs should win comfortably if they get a good start. I’m think 7-2 or so.
Texas has talent and tradition and were a tough draw. Things are set up nicely with the win.
Great Win!!
As said before, it is likely to take more than 4 runs to win in the post season. When I said that I figured it would be due to pitching mistakes made by the Beavs due to weather, turns out today the weather didn’t seem to be the culprit. JMHO.
FYI, 60% chance of showers and t-storms again for the Dallas area tonight and tomorrow. Delays or postponement is a possibility.
Let’s play in a sprinkle tomorrow as the Great Beaver bestows the weather advantage upon the team

Wow, have you seen Dallas Baptist’s schedule? No wonder they had 43 wins!

I’m getting diabetes just looking at all those cupcakes
And they had a 4 game series against U-Mass Lowell rained out.

It was preceded by 4 straight losses. 4-11 before the 11 straight wins. (they are at 11 straight today, so let’s not give them 12).
12 straight after beating Dallas Baptist
