  1. Did Casey call for a bunt again with 1 out and a man on first? So 2 outs, man on second…~20% probability of scoring, instead of letting a .390 hitter swing away and go for the big inning. Good one.

      • Does this post have anything to do with South Carolina and OSU being matched up in the big dance?

If it does, I need a definition for “pitching” sent my way. I’m sure it has nothing to do with anyone who fucking wears a flat brim ball cap… fucking piss me off and make your stupid statement all at once why don’t you?

Yeah… there’s some mud in there.

Flat-brimmed ball caps are the sign of El Stupido giving up and letting morons act like morons. Or they’re just the dumbest ever fashion statement… just… no… well behind leg warmers.

          • I can sympathize… maybe empathize.

Do flat-brimmed ball caps not bug the hell out of you? They’re irrational and ugly. I get that stupid wants to be ironic ugly. But it’s just ugly.

It’s like someone talking to me in favor of the gold standard and thinking they have a clue about that which they speak. Or… it’s like someone who looks up at the sky and points out Ursa Minor then says that’s all there is to the world.

          • Wearing a flat brimmed hat gives you 1% off the interest when buying a $50,000 jacked up Superduty at the ford dealership……and a free 4 foot wide Monster energy drink sticker for the back window.

  2. So nice to have Jim Wilson on the broadcast!

Another decent showing by Fehmel (just looking at the stats, had to miss much of the game), and another save for Max. Short/Middle relief continues to be a big question……Cap’n Obvious here.

  3. WE PROLLY OUT NOW DAT BIG DANSE YALL CUZ CAL AINT LOZIN. COACH ZO 4REAL YALL. BEAV COAHC WICK COST DAT GAME DOE. UTAH K NETHER EXZAMPLE BOUT DAT GHETTO AZZ MONTAANA BS DOE

  4. Starting lineup for basketball next year. Thoughts?
    1-Bruce
    2-Thompson
    3-Tinkle
    4-Eubanks
    5-Big G
    Bench
    6th man- Duviver
    McLaughlin
    Dew
    Kone
    N’Dieye
    Manuel
    Thoughts?

    • Might as well list everyone: Muller & Dahlen will be on the team. For me Muller is an unknown, only what I’ve read in the news. Dahlen will be back as a walk-on

Do you suppose Togiai will get his schooling together enough to try again?

    • I’m not sure Big G starts. I wonder if Kone starts if he is fully recovered and Eubanks still starts? Is there any information on whether Gomis applies for a hardship or is that just speculation? If Gomis can return to last years form, that is five fouls that WT has in his pocket if he wants and some solid defensive capabilities.

      • There isn’t a snowball’s chance in hell he comes back. There’s literally no reason for him to do that. Even if he’s around the program in some capacity, he won’t be playing. I don’t think his body can take it, honestly.

  5. Beavs got a lot of help yesterday with lot of bubble teams blowing it. There’s really no teams that can catch the Beavs now. But to keep things safe there are a few teams you want to see lose.

    1. LSU
    2. Michigan
    3. Georgia
    4. UConn
    5. Davidson
    6. Fresno St

  6. Hey, angry, My laptop took a dump on me last weekend. Had to get a new one and re-load everything.

Question – what were the addons you suggested for using with Firefox? I’ve added Ghostery, AdBlock & DuckDuckGo. Were there any others, I don’t remember?

    TIA

  7. Tinkle must have flown into the PDX airport on the way back from Vegas, because I’m in a coffee shop here and everyone is hacking up organs.

  8. BASEBALL: Same stream as yesterday, lineup has Harrison DH, Gillette batting 5th, and Gretler at 1B.
    No start for “C-boy”.
    START TIME DELAYED TILL 2pm

Marcodg must have used his influence, audio today seems to have eliminated the yak yak (from student stream producers??).

UPDATE: Last minute change: Harrison to 1B, Gretler DH

  9. Thompson starts with a couple pretty good innings, 19 strikes out of 25 pitches, no hits, no bb, 2 k’s. Still, can’t relax with him on the mound……………..yet?

OK, I’m going off the grid for a while, GO BEAVS!

  10. And ducks lose. 9-3. Had the sacks juiced in t9 with nobody out and didn’t score. Starter didn’t get out of the 1st. Did somebody say best staff ever?

    • D1 has the play by play detailing how the “best staff” gave up 5 runs in the first inning. It didn’t have a lot to do with the caliber of the competition.

1 bases loaded HBP and 4 bases loaded BB’s, during which there were exactly 3 strikes thrown….to 4 batters!

Doesn’t define the season or guarantee anything about Beavs vs schmucks, but interesting nontheless.

  11. Middle of the 7th. Heimlich with a great play catching a rocket hit back to him.
The live box score is about 20 seconds ahead of the stream.

  12. Derrick Bruce went from disappointing to best fighter’s personality I have seen at OSU since GP in 2-3 games when he was needed to step up. Seriously loved his attitude of just getting it done and chipping away time after time to make the team forge a winner’s identity. He keeps it up I am close to wanting someone to make an awe inspiring tribute video. Kid has grit and is turning into a force of nature. I was wrong about his potential. He, Stevie and Tinkle will be the anchors next year and Bruce having the mentality like vs Cal may make him one of the most crucial pieces in if team can return to the Big Dance again next year.

    • I don’t think anyone thought Bruce had that type of game in him. He hadn’t shown that type of game all year. He threw up a lot of bricks early in the year. One fact I forgot about him is that he’s older. He finished HS in 2014 so he’ll be a 21 year old sophomore.

Things to like for next year,
      1. His vision in the last two games was excellent.
      2. Guys will have to respect him out to the three point line, opening up the lane for drives and kickouts.
      3. His speed will get by a lot of guys.
      4. He’ll be the #3/4 guy in the offense next year. No pressure to repeat last games performance.

To be fair, he’s got a lot to work on.
      1. He’s very close to being called for palming the ball.
      2. He can be reckless. A little like Cunningham when he first came in.
      3. Will need to find a mid range jumper or floater. Can’t be just a 3pt specialist.
      4. Dribbles a hair too much.

  13. Beavs slated as an 8 or 9 seed in a lot of the brackets. The downside is, given an OSU victory, that the following game is against a 1 seed. I’ll take it.

    • In your wildest dreams when Tinkle was hired did you think that in year 2 we’d go dancing period? I’ll live with ANY seed! I can’t wait to know what time we’ll be playing, most likelyThursday or Friday unless we’re First Four which probably isn’t happening. I’m gonna block out my entire schedule around that.

  14. Four number one seeds tomorrow SHOULD be

Kansas (Big 12 regular season and tourney champion, number 1 RPI)
Oregon (Pac-12 regular season and tourney champion, number 2 RPI)
North Carolina (ACC regular season and tourney champion, number 5 RPI)
Villanova (Big East regular season champion, lost in tourney title game, number 4 RPI)

Much to the chagrin of many but sorry, Oregon’s entire body of work is very deserving of a number one seed. No one deserves to be a number 1 seed over those 4 teams

Beavs will be anywhere from an 8-10 seed but I’ll predict a 9 seed either in the East or Southeast. Hoping for a matchup with Texas Tech. Those guys can be beat. Here’s to tomorrow!

    • Hey, fucknut. I look at it this way, 26 years of futility should be ending here in a few hours and you can’t do shit about it. 34 teams are going to lose in the play in/first round and if it’s the Beavs, I can live with it. Your schtick is getting old because it’s not really clever or imaginative. Giving shit is great if it’s funny, keep that in mind.

  15. If anyone is going to Reser for the selection watch party, can you see if they’ve set up a camera from CBS? That would probably indicate that they are in.

  16. BASEBALL: 1:05 start, forecast shows little chance for rain with wind near 20mph from SSW. HR to right not likely today, GO BEAVS!
Same school produced stream and, pretty sure, Jim Wilson helping out Jay on radio. PDX radio changes to AM620.

Fun(?) Fact…….yesterday there were only 6 BB’s in the game, only 2 of those were by Beav pitchers! Zone?, Skill? you be the judge.

  17. Not that it matters, but, whoreton decides to work more of his “best staff”….goes to the pen in the 6th with Miss St up 3-0. Reliever promptly gives up a 2 RBI HR, presto….5-0.

    • It wasn’t Horton who said “best staff”, correct? Wasn’t it a couple of smart ass players? Bulletin board stuff, I’m glad they said it. Also, something about a guarantee of Omaha if I remember correctly. Thin line between confindence and idiocy sometimes.

      • You are correct, Horton has been much more judicious in his comments.

The “best staff” thing comes from Cole Irvin who has been quoted as saying, “Two or three runs is all we’re going to need this year, because we have the best pitching staff in the country,” … “Our hitters know it, so the pressure is off them…” Young Mr. Irvin has also said, “We are going to Omaha this year,” … “I want to make that statement clear.”

BTW: The batters today did their part, scoring 2 runs in the 8th. However, the “best staff” (four of them were used today) gave up 5 to complete the sweep by Miss State.

      • Yes one of the pitchers…don’t know his name….don’t care either. What’s the saying….better to be thought a fool, then to open ones mouth, and remove all doubt.

  18. The more I read about OSU likely making the Dance, the more it pisses me off on how we got to this point. 26 years!? The one comparison I heard is the equivalent to missing a bowl game for the last 26 years. Of course, we all know about the infamous 28 year streak. With so much parity in hoops, it’s even more baffling. Anyways, I like OSU at a 8-9 seed as they have a good chance at winning that game whoever it may be. I also like the fact that OSU went toe-to-toe with Kansas even if it was only for one half. I think it gives our players confidence they can compete with anyone.

    • I’m as happy as the next guy that the Beavers are improving and hopefully in The Dance, but it’s amazing to me that they could go 26 years plus now without a winning record in conference play also. You would think just with dumb luck, they could eek out a 10-8 over the course of two and a half decades.

    • Lunar discreet has the Beavs a 9 seed in the east playing VCU. The worst thing about an 8-9 seed is the next step is a 1 seed, in this case the Tar Heels.

Getting a 26 year monkey off the program’s back is nice definitely doesn’t feel like a deep run is very realistic.

    • “She doesn’t want the fanfare,” Sopak said. “If she could just drive to whatever school she picks and show up on the first day of school, that would be her choice.”

I’d be very surprised if she chose UO based on that statement. That culture doesn’t mesh with her belief system.

  19. What is this junior day that OSU out on? That new with the Andersen era? Is there a summary of what it entails? Seems like a good way to get out in front of recruits. Do other PAC-12 schools do this?

  20. OT: On the Beavs basketball twitter page there’s a picture of their team practice today, and it’s kind of hard to tell (for me anyways) because it’s in black and white, but it looks like someone in a #3 jersey is not on crutches.

  21. I think Mich State bumps the ducks for a #1 seed (upside to the win). Two stupid shots by Purdue in the last minute. Ugh. Thanks Izzo. Jerk.

  22. Kinda surprised that there’s not a Selection Sunday thread up. First time in AB history that a thread could be made in expectation of a selection and no thread??

  23. Beavs load the bases with one out and Morrison hits one back to the pitcher and it’s a 1-2-3 DP. Still 1-0 at the end of 6

  24. Madrigal should’ve scored on Ice’s single but didn’t get a good read on the ball from 2b and was held at third. Beavs without a run on 5 hits. Eckert has held USF to 2 hits at the stretch.

  25. leadoff single in t8 and sac bunt. Max E takes over for Eckert as it starts to rain. Eckert gave up only 3 hits and didn’t walk anybody with 4 Ks

  26. Ice didn’t seem to get rid of the ball very quickly, but it was quick enough for a high throw on the 1b side to cut down the runner at 2nd for the second out of the ninth.
Beavs up against it now, only 2 outs left after Nobach’s K to lead off the b9.

  27. Streak of 11 wins ends. 5-0 Don’s win. Seven hits today and NO XBH; 10 LOB

Fun(?) Fact: North Carolina also ended its 11 game winning streak today, going down to Pitt by the same score as the Beavs.

  28. Dons did the little things right and the Beavs didn’t, like getting bunts down, hitting with two out. Eckert the bright spot even with his one lapse (throwing error)

  29. Losing is never a good thing but maybe some good will come of it. As the last game before conference play starts a small dose of reality can be turned into a positive.
