It’s finally here! Omaha, no home team advantages! A factor which favors our travelin’ Beavs?
Let’s hear your thoughts, predictions, and even gripes.
USA Today ranks the Beavs as #5 of the 8 teams involved, ahead of Louisville, Arizona, and MurrayState. They have Coastal as the #2 team.
OTOH, the experts at D1 pick the Beavs over Coastal in their bracket.
As ever, feel free to chime in on other Beaver topics. Football, Tinkle, gymnastics, wrestling, you name it.
Omaha! Somewhere in middle America!

Looks like a hot and humid weekend in Omaha, with thunderstorms coming in around Tues/Wed. Could see the potential for weather delays the way the schedule is staggered.
Weather delays can wreck pitching rotations. Not likely for a starter to sit through an hour delay and go back to pitching afterward. It could present some challenges to navigate for teams without pitching depth.
Dax needs to field his position well early to discourage Louisville from bunting for hits.
Louisville’s 2 best starters are both hard throwing righties. Advantage Beavs.
They need to get the first win today and overcome nerves etc. Road warriors may see the payoff in Omaha. Beavs have probably been on the road/living in hotels the most of any team. Hopefully it’s routine for the Beavs and a subtle challenge for the rest.
BWBs picked up a new commit today.

Found a lot of box scores. Looks like she can score in bunches. Also looks like she played with a younger sister (Patricia) coming off the bench and being productive on her own.
Can’t find listed heights.
Check that. I found birth dates, and they’re twins.
Looks like Lara is a lefty in the front court… a 4 or 5.
I’ve seen her highlights on X as a coach I’m friends texted me her highlights.
She actually has some nice foot work but her offensive game will need some development but that’s exactly the type of Rueck likes to develop as he did with M Ruth Hamblin, Marie Gulich, and most recently with Sela Heide.
I think his newest project, Elisa Mehyar, will turn out to be another example of bigs that really excel under Rueck.
She’s got that annoying Kevin McHale/Adrian Dantley spin or step move with a baby hook… annoying if it’s your team playing against it. If she utilizes that like Dantley did at 15-20 feet, she could be great.
https://x.com/EliteSportsESP/status/1933560166948970561
Highlights on her from X
Sorry as I didn’t see the link on X…..
..
She has a YT reel.
What do you think about her highlights? I think she will need a softer touch around the basket, but I like her foot work and quickness.
Actually I’m going to retract my comments about softer touch around the basket as watched her highlight again and she has a nice touch and can shoot from the outside too. She could be a real find for Rueck
My worthless 2 pesos…..
CCU is the only team im concerned with on the beavs side of the bracket.
I expect whoever survives between LSU/Arky comes out of the other side of the bracket.
Greg Street is behind the plate for AZ and CC so we may get lucky and miss him
I’m surprised he’s still allowed a baseball diamond. What he did to us was criminal
Hopefully, he has let the Luke Heimlich situation go as it was 8 years ago and we have new coaches so. That said, I hope he’s not an ump behind home plate for any of the beaver game as I’ve never witnessed such a pathetic and biased display of umping as in 2017.
I will never forget Adley’s bewildered look when he called a strike that was literally in the right-handed batters box.
Oh gawd….gotta be shittin’ me. What are the chances getting lined up with Street treatment again!!!!
https://x.com/EliteSportsESP/status/1933560166948970561
Here you go…..
I’m confused, why are we posting this again?
CC comes up big in b8 now lead 7-4 going into last chance for AZ.
Welp, 24 on a row for CC but first things first for the Beavs…..go get L’ville today.
Coastal is good. Very good. They just keep hanging around, chipping away, grinding out at bats and the next thing you know they are winning and slamming the door shut. Tough matchup for any team.
Yeah. You don’t win that many games in a row without playing as a team. They just work well together.
Also didn’t hurt that the AZ right-fielder wasn’t hustling after either of those fouline bloop hits and gave up second base on both of them.
CC is a tough out for sure.
Oh baby, let’s go BEAVS!
Having a Breakside “Walk off IPA” for good luck…
You need to do this again on Sunday. Take one for the team
Great start for the Dax man!
Wow, let’s get the bats going and give the Dax man some run support!
Middle of 2nd, LiveStats not working, but Dax is through 2 on less than 30 pitches.
Louisville batters seem to be communicating with their following mate better than I’ve noticed the Beavs do,
She’s diggin’ Coach Canham…
Let’s go guys….this is the break through inning!
2 runs is a start!
Dax 70 pitches through 5
Be nice to get to their BP this inning.
Let’s go Segura!!!! We could use a strike out right about now!!!
Great job Segura!!! Let’s get the bats going!!!!!
Am that pick off really bit is. Kind of like the E5 in SR game 2.
And Krieg has been so solid on D, surprised at the e
Safety squeeze!!!
Now please!
Inning, score?
B6, bases juiced one out, 0-2
Beavs up 3-1
B2B K’s retires the side, 3 LOB
Man these guys sound so down whenever something good happens for the Beavs!
Any credit to Dorman for the way Beav pitchers field their position?
First pitch and Queen fields it nicely!
3-1 Beavs one down t7
What’s with the Beavs letting good strikes go by and waving at balls well out of the zone??
Man, how many guys have we LOB?!
9 lob thru 7
No extra base hits. Weird.
Got one when they needed it. Was that the only one for the game?
I think for us.
Not sure why Reeder had such a big lead. Rarely try to steal bases.
Horrible gamble by Turley. You have to keep that in front.
FFS.
absolute choke job
What in the actual fuck is going on.
Just awful!!! First mistake was not letting Queen start the inning giving him a chance to finish it!
Tie game. I have to go barf!
Absolute choke job by the Beavs. This is insane the mental error and bullshit they’re pulling at this point of the season
Miiiiiitch!
Yeah, it was really a bad throw by Miiiitch x2!
No comment this morning? Strrange
Phew
Better late then never.
Beavs win! Beavs win!!
Doubters! Eat shit!!!
Gotta give Turley and Arquette credit for getting up off the mat and walking it off after their debacle in the top of the 9th. Great pitching, and steady for about 8 innings for the defense. Offense could get a big hit once in a while but Turley did the job.
Great job to win and advance. Better to nearly cough one up and still get the win than to actually choke it away.
It may be a good lesson going forward for them to maintain focus until the game is really over.
That was a really crazy half inning with the 3 most important guys each having a horrible error. Credit Oake for not wilting in that inning too.
What a response
That was some kind of game. Ups and downs and very much a lot of sideways. Beavs made their own luck at the end to win it. Somehow represented the entire season just in one game.
Think I speak for everyone when I say…..
WHEW
The Moxy. They have it.
Moxie
Mock sea
Blow meeeee
Bloomy
Coastal is going to a super tough matchup. Game time is the same as today so pitchers will have the advantage for the first half of the game. Coastal didn’t start their #1 today so he’ll go on Sunday.
For the game changing moments, here’s some thoughts.
Dorman did a great job managing the staff today. Taking Segura out after two batters was the exact right thing to do instead of leaving him in. His control was not quite there and would have caused issues in the next inning. Figured Dorman might treat this a winner take all game with a day off tomorrow and change pitchers often. Curiously he went with Queen and Oakes when it’s usually Hutcheson and Keljo next.
I get Turley’s decision to lay out. Line drive that looks like it’ll drop but stays up leaving him in between decisions. Guessed wrong this time but hopefully doesn’t deter him from making the aggressive decision when it’s the right one. Then Louisville LF makes the same mistake to lose the game.
The rest of the inning was just wacky. Arquette rushes his throw and Webers hands just too sweaty results in a little league triple.
Credit to the team for locking in mentally the rest of the way. Not many teams would bounce back there.
Is their #1 a lefty?
No, he’s a 6’8 245 pound righty. 11-0, 2.15 ERA, 0.93 WHIP.
JTFC
Crazy 9th inning but I’d rather win kind of ugly than lose pretty. I’m happy that AA and GT were able to lead the way in the 9th and make up for their goof ups in the T9th!
Ladies and gentlemen, Gavin Turley in a nutshell.
This team looks loose as hell. We probably overanalyze the Beavs here and think every misstep means the sky is falling, but the team doesn’t seem to freak out over anything.
If you listened on the radio, Parker called a gem of a game. Relayed a story the great Roger Angell wrote about Omaha-born Bob Gibson, a story about a visit to the local Lewis and Clark Expedition museum and introduced the staff to the song “Shenandoah” on his phone with the phrase “across the wide Missouri” as only Parker can – and never missed a pitch. (Except of course the first two of the game because the Beavers Radio Network intro sponsor list always seems to miss the start of Beaver games, whatever sport they may be. My goodness, why can’t they fix that?!
Everyone should enjoy Mike Parker while we have him. Thankfully, he has no desire to climb the ladder in the industry and will be a long time Beaver broadcaster. He is the best announcer I’ve ever heard and in all 3 major sports.
“…but the team doesn’t freak out over anything.” True and it is impressive how they do endure crazy drama, self inflicted or otherwise and keep on playing. Credit to Mitch and Dorman on that as well. At least in the ninth I didn’t feel the need to over-react, but sort of had confidence that they were still fine even after it went 3-3.
CC will be a challenge but their top flight guy may be a good match-up for the Beavs line-up. We’ll see. Good win, very important to stay out of the losers bracket and that was accomplished tonight.
Key note on the scouting report on CC: They have been HBP the most of any team in the nation this year. They took a page out of the cheating ducks playbook and bend the rules by turning into pitches as much as possible, and actually tout how they train their guys to get hit purposely as a strategy. (I don’t like it as it goes against the spirit of the game.)
Will Dorman decide to just pitch them on the outer half or will he have EK come inside and risk free runners?
Something to remember is there are self inflicted mistakes at every level including professionally. Yes being perfect would be great but mental mistakes happen. Years ago in the Super Bowl a player botched an onside kick to start the second half. Saints took the momentum and beat the colts. Beavers didn’t waver when they could have and pulled it out.
I think they are do for a loss. ;o)
Thought I saw they did not start their #1 starter, which is insane to me as you want to avoid going to the losers bracket and burning up your pitchers.
Winning game 2 is just as important as game 1, either way you got to play 5 games to advance.
Not if you win ’em all!
that’s what I mean, if you lose game 1 or 2 you have to win 4 of 5. If you win game 1 and 2 you just have to win 3 of 4.
Ean, I’m not great at math but if you lose game 1 you have to win two elimnation games plus the next two of the final round. Lose game 2 you only have one elimination plus you have to win the next two. So win four in a row or three in a row.
If you lose game 2 you still have to win 2 elimination games
3
Correct, including the first final game.
If we win today, we play in the Tuesday late game against the winner of the Tuesday early game. Then we get the chance to win one of two, to get to the finals.
If we lose, we play in that early game, and then we need to beat CC twice in two games.
OH C’MON!!!
DO BETTER BEAVER NATION!!!!

Anyone have a PayPal to help donate to the cause? We need to at least win our side of the bracket.

LSU lmao!
Id prolly be constantly drunk too if I had to live in that unfinished toilet bowl
*Unflushed
PS – what’s that thing you see Beavers players have on their belts? At first I thought it was a “cheat sheat” for where they play hitter defensively, but I see OSU hitters checking them when they are at bat.
Last thought for tonight…..
Unsung hero/play? Wilson Weber throwing out Tanner Shiver attempting to steal 2nd for the first out of the 9th. That doesn’t happen? Beavs are staring at a 4-3 deficit in the 9th and maybe this game ends differently.
Go Beavs
Overall, I was pleasantly surprised at the way Weber and crew limited the highly rated Louisville speed game. That pickoff which Krieg couldn’t handle would sure have been icing on that speed cake!
Couple goofy decisions to start the 9th that I didn’t agree with but I’m no baseball guru. I would have let Queen start the 9th as he was pitching well versus bringing in a “cold” Oakes to start the 9th. The other thing maybe someone can explain to this simpleton, was why the had AJ Singer playing shallow right field. He was so deep there was no way he could throw out a speedy runner on a ball hit in his general area.??? But the guys came through as they have. Need to tighten up defensively as the competition is going to get a whole lot tougher.
For pitching, the only thing I noted was that Queen had faced 9 batters and Louisville batters were about to get their second look at him going into top 9. Make sense to make a change there.
For the defensive shift (legal in college), I was wondering why Aiva was still on the third base side of second. If Singer is playing deep like that, Aiva should have been over on the second base side of the bag and likely would have got to that ground ball. Luckily, that one ended up being no impact with the runner being thrown out in the next at bat.
Gotcha! I probably would have stuck with Queen. Even though he was going through the line up a second time doesn’t necessarily mean he’s going to get lit up. I would have had him on a short leash with Oakes ready to go if Queen got into trouble.

Holy crap.
A 10.8 LB?
And he has the frame to put on 30 pounds and gain speed?
He’ll get to and through the hole pretty quickly. If he chooses the right hole most of the time, that speed works.
All the sexy stats they keep showing for ARK and LSU confirms what the tournament already has: SEC was deeply, deeply overrated this year. Inflated BA, hits, and HR numbers due to tiny ballparks and shitty pitching
I think part of it the SEC has all these super studs that can throw in the upper 90’s and hit 30 HR’s.
I didn’t see anything today that showed that these team are any better than FSU. If we make a championship series, big if because CC might be the best team we’ll face at the CWS.
Like a number of us have posted, it’s not necessarily the most talented team that wins. You have to have grit and a nevet die attitude.
OMAHA, Neb. ? When Gavin Turley grounded out to second base, allowing Trent Caraway to score in the fourth inning of Oregon State’s game against Louisville on June 13, he broke the program’s postseason RBI record.
The previous holder of that record? His own coach, Mitch Canham.
Canham was a former Beaver catcher who won two national titles in 2006 and 2007. He took the head coaching job at Oregon State in 2019 after the retirement of longtime coach Pat Casey, for whom he’d played. But despite the Beavers being a postseason mainstay, Canham had never led them back to Omaha ? until now.
Oregon State won its opening game of the 2025 Men’s College World Series, 4-3, on a walk-off double by Turley, and the Beavers will face Coastal Carolina on June 15 with a spot in the semifinals on the line.
Chanticleers coach Kevin Schnall has championship experience of his own. He was the associate head coach under Gary Gilmore when the program won its first national title in 2016. That was Coastal Carolina’s first-ever trip to Omaha. Now, in his first year as head coach after Gilmore’s retirement, Schnall has led the Chanticleers to their second.
“Being here is more fulfilling than being here as a player, because I get to watch so many other people have joy and turn around and look at Beaver Nation supporting us the entirety of the way and watching these guys just glow,” Canham said. “You don’t necessarily see that as a player. … The joy is double of what it was as a player, and those were amazing times that still bring back ? you’ve got to choke back tears when you watch highlights of it from way back when.”
When Turley was asked if he’d seen Canham’s postseason highlights, Canham shook his head ? but Turley admitted he’d seen them.
“Nothing to inspire him as far as the catching goes,” Canham said.
“More the rapping inspires us,” Turley said, referring to a rap song Canham and other Oregon State players created in 2007.
The Beavers have been through adversity in the past year. The collapse of the Pac-12 left them without a conference and they opted for independence, the first high-level baseball team to attempt to play as an independent since Miami in the early 2000s. While several other Oregon State teams lost most of their players to the transfer portal, the baseball team not only kept key players like Turley and Trent Caraway, it also added top transfer Aiva Arquette and freshman Dax Whitney, who earned the win in the Omaha opener with 5? innings of one-run ball.
Then there’s Schnall and the Chanticleers, who are looking to make a different kind of history. A first-year head coach has never won a title. A mid-major team ? Coastal Carolina plays in the Sun Belt ? hasn’t won a title since the Chanticleers won their first, and it’s been done just twice in the last two decades.
Because Schnall had been on staff for so long, he managed to keep his top players, including catcher Caden Bodine and starting pitchers Cameron Flukey, Riley Eikhoff and Jacob Morrison. His staff was a mix of people with previous experience at Coastal Carolina, like recruiting coordinator Chad Oxendine and longtime assistant Matt Schilling, plus a few coaches with SEC experience in Matt Williams (South Carolina) and Tyler Shewmaker (Vanderbilt).
Eikhoff and Flukey combined for eight innings in the opening win over Arizona.
“The processes are the same,” Schnall said of returning to Omaha as the head man. “The responsibilities are a little bit different. I’ve got to talk behind the mic more. Sometimes I like to be in the weeds and look at scouting reports and go out the back door and not have to talk to anybody. So that is a little bit of an adjustment.”
Both coaches have rosters that are largely homegrown in an era where more and more teams have opted to build through the transfer portal. At Oregon State, Whitney was the only true freshman to start his team’s College World Series opener. While Arquette was a transfer, Turley and Caraway were high-school recruits. All three of the pitchers who appeared in Coastal Carolina’s opener chose the Chanticleers out of high school. Bodine, too, has been with Coastal Carolina since the start.
And the two coaches have been loyal, too. After an eight-year career playing in the minor leagues, Canham worked as a minor league coach for four seasons before returning to his alma mater. Schnall played for the Chanticleers from 1995-99, then returned to the school after a two-year stint in the minors. He spent three seasons as an assistant at UCF but then returned to Coastal Carolina. His first season back, the team won the national championship.
Whichever of the two teams emerges victorious in the winners bracket game will be in the drivers seat to advance to the championship series. There, Canham or Schnall could write a new chapter in his legacy.

I think it was Michael Conforto that held the previous RBI record not Mitch Canham.
lovely essay

Are Beavs home team tonight do to their higher seed ot ranking?
Beavs slight underdogs today according to Vegas. Makes sense with Coastal starting their #1 and being on a 24 game winning streak.
I’m going to go out on a limb and say whichever team wins today, wins the national championship and hopefully the beavers can get into CC bullpen by the 5th inning. Today might be a great opportunity to play some small ball.
Well, I was going to do another stats comparison for today’s game but CC gives individual stats but does not provide cumulative team stats which is absolutely stupid but they do hit 292 as a team FWIW
. It sucks that it would take hours to calculate all of their stats bc they’re all on sm individual basis with no option to see their team summaries.
Louisville eliminates AZ 8-3.
I was able to finally find overall stats and CC pitching appears to have the edge while beavers defense is a little better and HRs and slugging % favor the beavers. Beavs draw more walks but give upore walks too.
I have to think CC with 24 wins in a row have to feel the pressure of that streak while the beavers have had some exciting late game heroics. BTW, HPB is a big difference for CC.
This really might be a matter of playing some small ball against their 6’8″ starter that has very impressive stats.

That advantage in HR’s would look a lot better in some other ballparks.
I do like your thinking re pressure on CC, Beavs have to try to control that aspect cause it isn’t likely to happen on it’s own.
Yeah probably not many HRs today but gotta play clean defensively and don’t give the extra outs! Play some small ball too!
I might be alone in feeling this, but is anyone else not as sure of OSU’s pitching depth as the analysts and commentators have been touting the last couple weeks? I think this makes it all the more important for the Beavs to win tonight and stay in the winner’s bracket. I’m not so confident they have the pitching to come back from a loss and win 3 in a row. I know that may sound weird since they won 5 straight in the regional, but in Omaha it’s markedly more difficult to do. Maybe I’m being overly pessimistic, but I don’t think the depth is there as much as it was in 2018.
We have more talent in the bullpen than any prior CWS team. The number of arms that hit 95 is way more than any other CWS team. What we haven’t seen is that savvy guy that throws 85-90 and eats innings. Thing johan Nickerson or Joe Paterson Hoping we don’t need it, but that is my main concern.
Oh baby, go get em Beavers!!!!
It looks were home team…
White unis in 90 degree heat, way to go.
What the hell is going on here. Error by Aiva. Balk. Hitters time delay out. A walk and hit batter. Jesus
The stroke cam on the umpire is a terrrible view for the fan
This is a tight zone
Yikers not a good start!
Wow. Two Ks.
Do you get someone up and throwing and save Kleinschmidt for later in the week? He clearly doesn’t have it.
Yep
Think this is the way they should go. Down 3 he’s already thrown 30 pitches.
Wow!
Is Kleinshcmidt gassed from back-to-back 100+ pitch starts? It doesn’t look like he’s throwing with much force.
Too bad bc the Beavs should have been out of the inning!
Welp, now the pressure is on the Beavs to respond.
Pitcher hasn’t even broke a sweat. 6 pitches and 2 outs.
Yep. We will see if the Beavs can get to this guy but no more free ones. What a bad start!
I mean, spotting a team that’s won 24 straight 3 runs in the first with their ace on the mound is not how I would have done it. But I suppose it’s better to blow it in the first than the ninth?
GREAT play by TC and JK
Not great. Pop out to catcher. Dribbler to the pitcher. Turley had good contact but didn’t really do anything to their pitcher. Around 14 pitches.
I think I’d pull the plug on EK.
Arquette is on a cold streak defensively. He has not had a good tournament. Not many balls have come his way, but those that have he doesn’t seem to be handling or throwing them well.
I can’t disagree and these aren’t difficult plays he’s missing….
EK keeping the Beavs in the game. Chip away Beavs
We will get to this guy in the next inning or two. If EK can shut them down and hold the line, the bats are going to get to him.
Wow, RU kidding me!!!
This is just unbelievable!!!!
This has been some embarrassing baseball the last 4 innings. Epic meltdown in 9th and then several errors, hit batters, etc. Our hope is to work the count and try to get to the bullpen but their starter is moving through the lineup fairly easy and hasnt hit 60 pitches yet
A test of team leadership and character for sure. Gotta turn things around soon.
Inning, score?!?
5-1 CC T5
Beavs have given up 3 unearned runs.
EK over 90 pitches, their guy around 60
5 unearned, think it is technically 4 because they don’t assume the double play, but defensive and lack of bats have been the issues
Ok, I think it’s over now. Some days you just don’t have it and today was that day. I didn’t expect the beavs to go down like this but that’s baseball!
That’s funny. You are the guy berating anyone who opposed you for the last month and now you bail in the 5th?
Nice to see you hold yourself to such a different standard than you do everyone else on this blog.
These guys have earned more trust and expectation than folding on them with half the game left.
What a troll move after all of your pompous arrogance.
Where exactly did I say I was bailing? You obviously can’t read but that’s not surprising. As usual, I’m guessing you will blame the loss, if the beavers lose, on Canham, Dorman or whatever you need to give the impression you know more about baseball than those who’ve played and coached a majority of their lives.
Who did I berate in this game?
And calling me a troll is priceless bc you have trolled this team and coaches for virtually every time the lost. You’re an expert as gaslighting too.
Too many errors.
But man, I thought as an underdog type team I wouldn’t mind Coastal but the way they act, they are not a team I would want to root for.
For real. Not much respect for a team that tries to get hit by pitch as part of their offensive strategy.
It’s one thing to lose a game but to beat yourself in the process is not an easy thing to accept. If you’re competing and showing your best and lose, then the better team won. However, when you’re giving away runs like this, it’s a tough pill to swallow. At least show some signs that you’ve got some fight left on you.
Way too many free bases against a team that you do not want to give free bases to.
2 ER , 4 UnE
Yeah, you give any team extra outs at this point and it’s going to cost you big time.
Bullpen definitely going to be tested these next few games. Wasn’t a huge fan of burning 3 guys yesterday in relief. A couple didn’t throw much so they can come back again but feels like we piled some chips in last night that we really didn’t need to. Now we’re on our 3rd pitcher down 5 runs and a base hit away from being a blowout. Tough look
Did I see Palmer say come on fucker before getting that batter out?
Lol. Palmer the last guy that should be chirping. Guy had a lot of potential but gets tuned up nearly every time out there
Ok but did anyone else see him lip that? Good for him coming in and getting the job done. Playing a really good team. Keep fighting and get Louisville in the next one.
I do like our odds vs Louisville but haven’t looked at what they used from a pitching perspective. If we beat Louisville, we’re at a significant disadvantage from a pitching perspective. Coastal might get a complete game out of their pitcher. He’s cruising tonight.
Agree, question is if we are gonna see any offense along with elimination of e’s.
Your silence is golden as the best you can offer as I made you come on guys at least show a little bit of fight.
Come on you guys at least show some fight.
I guess if you’re going to lose, it’s better to lose big than by a walk off in extra innings. At least you can just flush a loss like this and the effects shouldn’t linger. At least, I hope that’s not the case but you know L’ville will be very motivated.
Bright spot, so needed, Reeder goes to third. Smart baserunning, fooled the OF.
No quit.
Pitching and defense still reigns supreme in the post-season. We didn’t have good defense and pitching was a bit erratic. They had the pitching and didn’t make any errors on the defensive side. I assume we’ll bring in JDC for elimination game and then I guess you could do Nelly, Segura or even Queen for the final game if we can get to it
The Beavs have to win 3 games now to get to the championship series
Turley’s solo HR makes the hit count: Beavs 6, CC 5
Elite pitching reins again over OSU.
They should be able to beat Louisville again but honestly after the way that game went off rails you never know with this Canham team.
Swing for the fence!!
On queue, Student Beaver you’re back again and I knew you wouldn’t honor your word. I don’t know whose worse, you or Ohiobeav…
Worst on here is you the 2-face punk. Different standards for you, I guess.
Just so you know because we know you slow this isn’t student beaver
A keypad warrior. Lol!!!!
Huh, I would say you should look in the mirror bc you’re hiding behind another handle and that’s about as punka$$ as it gets.
I don’t understand the student beaver fetish. His countearguments are perfectly polite and one hopes there is room for dissension on the site. Many of his observations were accurate. Ignore him or her?
Disappointing as championship teams don’t have stinker games like this. Awful defense where I think I saw a stat the have 5 errors in two games. Combined with their starting pitcher struggling to throw strikes is a recipe for failure.
4 unearned runs and we lose by 4. Definition of beating yourself.
Flush it and come back on Tues and play some clean baseball!
That’s the best you can come up with after bailing on team in the 5th??
You must hang around Canham! Lol
Lol. I watched the game from start to finish and if you knew anything about baseball, you could easily tell it wasn’t going to be the beavers day and that was very clear and not too difficult to predict.
If you knew anything about baseball, and I doubt that you seriously do, you can’t dwell on a game like that bc you don’t want a game like that to beat you twice. If I have to explain the meaning of that commonly used psychology in virtually any sport, you shouldn’t even be on a sports board trying to sound knowledgeable. But then again, ur masquerading as someone else bc you don’t have the cahones to use your original handle but have to hide behind another one. Typical loser behavior but not surprising.
Another nobody response that thinks he knows baseball.
You have absolutely no game knowledge you just throw stuff out based on your feelings.
Does your mom help you understand the game and tell you who to cheer for? Or do you ask AI to help you?
Either way your pathetic excuse for a bandwagon fan.
Psst. Mute button
3 people here I don’t read their diatribe.
Im sure others do the same for mine.
You have choices
Thanks I may have to mute the bonehead. Just fun to read some of his stupidity sometimes
At the risk of incurring Esux wrath for having anything to say, I’ll say it anyway.
Many concerns about the team since early in the season were:
Bats go quiet at bad times
Defense seemed to be a liability in some losses
Pitching was young and had control issues
Little to no small ball to manufacture runs
Unfortunately all of these items surfaced today.
In some ways the 2025 Beavs were playing the 2006 version of Beaver Baseball. This is the illustration of the differing types of philosophy and how to build a program. I am being slowly convinced that Mitch has done what needed to be done to shift away from Casey, but it was hard to see it play out in such a contrast. CC pitcher was tough but the Beavs had way too many self inflicted errors that cost the game.
Hoping for the rematch with those guys and maybe beating them twice as a nice retribution.
Go Beavs!
Did the Beavs beat themselves? Yes. They stepped on their dicks and gifted CCU some early runs. That error by Arquette was brutal. That was a Taylor made double play ball and gets you out of the inning.
Was Morrison as good as advertised? Yes he was. Retired 16 in a row between the 3rd and 8th innings. The good news is if the Beavs get another Crack at those guys they most likely won’t see him again.
Was the home plate umpire squeezing pitchers early in the game? Yes. For both teams. I thought his strike zone got more liberal as the game wore on. The good news is the Beavs won’t see him again behind home plate.
Is Coastal Carolina good? Yes. Did the Beavs play like ass and piss this one away early? Yes. Both can be true.
CCU may be the best team remaining. They didnt make any mistakes today. Good teams dont beat themselves. And there’s a reason they’ve won 25 in a row.
Beavs are still in this tournament. But the margin for error is much smaller now.
Don’t down vote that! He’s right on the mark. You can’t open a game at the CWS and give the other team 3 unearned runs.
Morrison was a frickin horse today.
4* unearned, but yes. I haven’t seen that many free bases since I walked through downtown Portland when all drugs were legal.
Beavs have played their best ball with their dick in a vise. So here we go. Do it again. Someone fire up Steely Dan!
Thoughts on today’s game
Coastal is who we thought they were. Credit to them and their coach. Will punish any mistake by an opponent. They didn’t manufacture a single run without a free pass and/or an error. 1-13 with RISP but they scored 6. And their starting pitcher threw strikes all night. They are a baseball coach’s wet dream.
Thoughts on the Beavs,
EK struggled with the Omaha heat and humidity. Ball clearly slipping from his hands early and had to go to the rosin bag for what seemed like every pitch.
Batters seemed to chase a lot of pitches. Gameplan early was to swing early in the counts but they were chasing out of the zone. At the end it was too little too late.
While not a devastating defeat, Beavs will have to be sharp to beat Louisville again. The offense needsd to show up so they can give the pitchers some room to breathe. There is still plenty of arms available in the bullpen to make a run back. Very curious to see that Keljo and Hutcheson have not made an appearance.
Wow!!! Coastal was only 1 for 16 with RISP and still scored 6 runs! Brutal! The error by second baseman Singer in a routine double play ball was the final nail in the coffin. Too much to overcome. This team is consistently inconsistent, posted above.
If we were swinging early, those curves Morrison threw over the plate to start each AB looked pretty meaty, if you were looking for one.
“Coastal Carolina baseball’s Jacob Morrison brought his A-game against Oregon State at the College World Series.
The Sun Belt Pitcher of the Year in 2025 was electric outside of a solo home run he allowed in the bottom of the third inning, as he retired 16 hitters in a row from that point forward. The streak lasted into the eighth inning. He became only the third pitcher since 2011 to retire 16 or more batters in a College World Series game, according to the program.
The 6-foot-8 ace for the No. 13 Chanticleers set the tone in their 6-2 win over the No. 8 Beavers on June 15, allowing one run on five hits with seven strikeouts across 7 2/3 innings. The redshirt sophomore dropped his season ERA from 2.15 to 2.08 with the performance.
The win improved Morrison’s record to 12-0 on the year, as Coastal Carolina is undefeated in games where Morrison has earned a decision. His 2.15 ERA entering Sunday’s game is the sixth-best mark in college baseball this season, and best among all pitchers still alive at the CWS.
Morrison has been outstanding for the Chanticleers in his three NCAA tournament starts, as he went six innings and allowed one run with six strikeouts against No. 4 Auburn in the Auburn Super Regional to reach Omaha, Nebraska. He allowed four runs on seven hits in five innings against East Carolina in the Conway Regional in his first postseason outing.
Coastal Carolina’s ace will be available again if the Chanticleers reach the national championship series, and he has a chance to make even more of a name for himself at the sport’s biggest stage, as his team is looking for its second national championship since 2016.
Here’s a look at Morrison’s stats this season, which rank among the best in college baseball:
Here’s a look at Morrison’s 2025 stats at Coastal Carolina:
2025 (redshirt sophomore): 11-0 record with 2.15 ERA and 95 strikeouts in 96 1/3 innings pitched. 0.93 WHIP and .195 batting average against.
2024: Redshirted
2023 (freshman): 6-1 record with 6.55 ERA and 68 strikeouts in 57 2/3 innings. 1.56 WHIP and .304 batting average against.

Damn.
rumor of media deal $10mil a yr for each school. this sucks.
I’ve never been a Mitch hater and I think he deserves credit for keeping the momentum going that Casey created. I don’t think that continuing to recruit at a high level should ever just be considered a given, he deserves credit for that. But college baseball is a funny sport, you play 3 game series all year long in mostly hitter friendly parks only to go to the postseason and play double elimination in an insanely pitcher friendly park. I’m not saying the team should forget about the long ball but they really need to get back to more emphasis on defense and manufacturing runs. Granted Coastal Carolina is a team on a mission right now but if they didn’t spot them 4 unearned runs it would have at least been extra innings.
“I don’t think that continuing to recruit at a high level should ever just be considered a given, he deserves credit for that”
Yeah, given the pac situation, NIL, and the nature of young athletes today, he deserves big props for the quality of athletes, and by all appearances, people, that he has been able to get, and keep.
Yesterday’s debacle saw the team have a collective brain fart, then start pressing and making things worse, that’s uncustomary for them. Bright lights too bright? They have played clean defense all year to see the compounding errors in one game was wild.
CC was good, arrogant bitches though, and not better top to bottom. It will be good to knock their block off and end their streak.
No doubt. Be awesome if the Beavers come back and maybe they still win it all. It’s got to be hard playing turf all year and going to grass also, although they’ve been on the road so much I’m not sure that matters much and no way could Coleman Field ever be grass with our weather
As far as recruiting goes the current roster is mostly Casey/Bailey/ player recruits.
Turley is lat high level recruit left. Him and Travis were solely responsible for Caraway/Aivia/Singer coming.
Kmatz came because his brother was at OSU.
To say Canham still recruits high level is yet to be seen. He leaves alot up to Gipson which is proving to be issues. Hitting is very big issue as they try to use driveline and as we are seeing if they can’t hit it out there in trouble.
Pitching recruits is Dorman but there is talk that will drop after this year most of them that came this year thought they were getting a solid catcher when they committed.
Do you have a specific source because I haven’t been able to find any sites specifying Bails, Case or anyone other than Canham and his staff. It’s been six years since Casey.
Players are the source.
Plus you can look at certain sites and see when players verbally committed before the recent contract changes.
Look at the 2021 class for example
Bazzana Trosky Guera Reed Kmatz Smith Quin had all committed before Canham was coach as freshman and sophomores in HS. They couldn’t sign until their senior year but everything was such a mess with Covid that they so stayed committed to OSU thinking that Canham was going to stay coaching the Casey way.
Turley actually committed before Smith Reed Kmatz and Guera.
So Casey, Bails, yeskie recruited everyone on the roster and they’ve stayed despite Mitch, interesting theory
It’s not a theory but believe what you want. If you follow OSU baseball and understand the recruiting process you can put the things together. Plus it doesn’t hurt to know players and coaches throughout baseball.
Bailey left after the 20’ season that was his last official recruiting year, but by that time they were onto 23’ grad year recruiting
Look I think we can all agree the ’21 class would qualify as “prior commits,” I’ve actually talked to Bailey and he’s very proud of his recruitment of Bazzana and others. My comment stems from the current recruits and underclassmen and keeping the players that did commit prior. What I don’t understand is why are you so quick to dismiss the current staff’s ability to keep those players, especially given NIL and current landscape of college athletics, or their ability to continue to recruit high level talent?
, Mike Parker calling game yesterday. I hardly recall the bits about the game except the beavs lost. The cinematic, history threads were sometimes carried to their ends, never mind action on the field.
‘We love this’: After Oregon State baseball falls to Coastal Carolina in World Series, it enters comfort zone
OMAHA, Neb. — As AJ Singer strolled out of Charles Schwab Field toward the Oregon State baseball team bus late Sunday night, he wore the look of a man who had been bludgeoned.
He sported a disheveled, dirt-stained white uniform. He had eye black smeared all over his cheeks. He labored as he toted a gigantic bag full of baseball gear.
Yes, the Beavers had just suffered their first defeat at the Men’s College World Series, falling 6-2 to the seemingly invincible Coastal Carolina Chanticleers in the second round of the eight-team tournament in Omaha, Nebraska. Sure, Singer committed a costly — and very rare — error during the defeat. And, yes, Oregon State’s storybook season is now on the brink, sitting one loss away from an early ending.
But, apparently, Oregon State has only now entered its comfort zone.
“I think you’ve learned this by now,” Singer said, smiling. “We love this. We love elimination games. This is nothing new to us and we’re ready for what’s to come.”
The team that survived four elimination games in the regional round and one more in the super regional round now faces its most daunting task yet.
While Coastal Carolina (55-11) — which has won 25 games in a row — earned two days off to rest its pitching staff and prepare for its next game in the winners’ bracket, the Beavers will have just one day to regroup before they face the first of three possible elimination games. Oregon State plays the Louisville Cardinals Tuesday at 11 a.m. in a rematch of its opening-round MCWS matchup.
“We got a good group and we’re here for a reason,” Oregon State pitching coach Rich Dorman said. “And so I’m excited to watch our response … this isn’t the end of this team.”
But the end will come soon if the Beavers deliver another uncharacteristically sloppy performance like Sunday night’s, which featured a litany of mistakes that started almost immediately, with Ethan Kleinschmit’s third pitch.
That pitch was smacked to shortstop by Coastal Carolina leadoff hitter Caden Bodine, seemingly for an easy first out. Instead, Aiva Arquette airmailed his throw to first base for an error. After committing just four errors all season before Omaha, the slick-fielding OSU shortstop has coughed up two in two World Series games.
And Sunday’s blunder set an ominous tone for a wild and wacky first inning that proved costly for the Beavers (48-15-1).
Two pitches later, Kleinschmit was called for a balk. Then Blake Barthol drew a one-out walk and Walker Mitchell was hit by a pitch, loading the bases. Kleinschmit was given a temporary reprieve when, after he plunked Blagen Pado, home plate umpire Scott Letendre ruled that Pado leaned into the pitch intentionally. After review, the call was upheld.
But the good vibes didn’t linger.
Colby Thorndyke followed with a bases-clearing double, demolishing a 1-1 pitch into the right-center field gap, staking the Chanticleers an early 3-0 lead.
Two innings later, the Beavers’ defense — which entered the MCWS with the seventh-best fielding percentage (.982) in college baseball — floundered again.
After Dean Mihos ripped a leadoff single and Well Sykes drew a one-out walk, the Chanticleers were threatening again with their best hitter — Bodine — stepping to the plate. The Buster Posey Award finalist got down 1-2, then slapped a grounder to second at Singer, setting up a potential 4-6-3 double play. But the sure-handed second baseman who committed just one error over his first 63 games, did the unthinkable, allowing the ball to scoot between his legs into the outfield.
Mihos raced home and Sykes cruised into third base. Four pitches later, Kleinschmit skipped a wild pitch to the backstop, Sykes scored and, just like that, Coastal Carolina led 5-1.
The Beavers, one of the most fundamentally sound teams in college baseball, had fumbled and bumbled their way to a four-run deficit thanks to a barrage of balks, walks, wild pitches and errors. And the fact that Arquette and Singer — two of the most dependable and defensively-gifted up-the-middle players in the nation — were the culprits was, well, surprising.
“It went right through the wickets,” Singer said of his error. “There’s no other way around it. I think me and Aiva both learned that we’re human and make errors.”
Across the diamond, the gritty Chanticleers had no such problem, as right-hander Jacob Morrison mowed through the Beavers’ lineup with striking precision. The 6-foot-8 junior tossed 7 2/3 marvelous innings, during which he allowed just one run on five hits and recorded seven strikeouts, improving to 12-0 on the season.
The Beavers put multiple good swings on pitches, barreling balls deep into the outfield, but they were knocked down by a stiff wind and fell harmlessly into Chanticleers gloves. Easton Talt muscled a line drive solo homer to right-center field off Morrison, but he was otherwise untouchable, retiring 16 Beavers in a row during one dominant stretch from the third through the eighth innings.
“I envisioned dominance,” Morrison said. And his visions became reality.
That was not the case for Kleinschmit (8-4), who labored through 4 2/3 innings without his best stuff. It didn’t help that his defense betrayed him, but the sophomore left-hander also coughed up three hits and three walks, hit two batters, and generally looked out of sorts, saying afterward that he “didn’t feel completely in sync.”
“Obviously, I didn’t have my A-game today,” Kleinschmit said. “It sucks for sure. But (we’ve) just got to reset and compete.”
One of the few good aspects of Kleinschmit’s outing is that he fought through the first inning — when Oregon State’s bullpen first started stirring — and battled all the way until the fifth, saving a few OSU arms. For a team that will have to win three elimination games over three days, it was desperately needed.
“The kid’s a competitor,” Dorman said. “He’s a winner. Obviously, he’s going to play this game for a long time. You learn from stuff like this — you always learn from adversity — and I’m really confident in Ethan. He’s going to be way better for this moving forward.”
As for the Beavers’ path forward in Omaha, well, it won’t be easy. They will need to defeat Louisville on Tuesday and then topple Coastal Carolina twice on Wednesday and Thursday to reach the championship series. It’s not the first time the program has faced such a dire situation — the Beavers won four elimination games on their way to the 2018 national championship.
But, more importantly for this Oregon State team, it’s hardly the Beavers’ first taste of elimination bedlam this season.
Like Singer said as he strolled toward the team bus late Sunday night, the Beavers have a love affair with adversity.
“It’s baseball,” OSU coach Mitch Canham said. “If you’re scared of a little bit of an obstacle in front of you, then sport isn’t for you and most of life isn’t for you because it just keeps coming. So take it with grace and go out there and fight.”

Media deal rumors now saying “$11M+” with Texas State incoming.
Also a possibility of Memphis as a football-only member being thrown around. That would be okay, but having them in for basketball would be huge.
11+M when full members in B10 and SEC are getting, what, $60 and $50M respectively?
Wichita can fill in the Olympics side and be a travel partner.
And I would still go get DBU as a baseball affiliate, even if we don’t take any more schools.
Just listened to another podcast about expansion and apparently someone from ESPN just recently reported the media deal will be ~$8+10M which seems to be lower than what I’ve been hearing so we will see. Yes, Texas State is the most probable school to join as their exit fee is much less than MWC schools…The podcaster also mentioned two potential travel partners, UTSA or N. TX, so I guess we will find out before July 1.
If the media deal is in the ~$8-10M range, I would think that would be a little disappointing. However, of all schools find that a suitable number, so be it. The bottom line is the PAC will become a viable conference again despite being G5 status, and at least for the next 5 years will have a conference. Beyond that, it’s anyone’s guess as to how things will shake out with super conferences on the horizon…
Is this the “OS_Beaver” rumor on twitter? Or something credible?
Dude has thrown down every possible combination of schools and amounts out there that he’s bound to be right!
Exactly. We’ve been due to have a media deal any day now for about 2 consecutive years. With anywhere from 1 to 6 teams all joining too.
Today’s rumor was that the Pac12 likes the $11.1M media deal number because of “symbolism” which made me laugh
Actually, there was a very good article by ESPN about the forthcoming media deal and the ,8th school most likely to be TX State. According to the article, the deal must be made before July 1 or the exit fees doubles from $5M to $10M but TX State wants a full share and not a partial share of media rights deal. There were other schools mentioned too but TX State was the top of the list. The clock is ticking so I would expect that we will know NLT July 1st and if not,.things aren’t looking good.
These rumors seem pretty confident in the minimum amount but no mention of the maximum amount. They’re really sticking their neck out with “$11M+”.
Canzano has an article this morning saying “industry insiders” expect Pac to get a $10M-$12M media deal. No sources. Maybe its from there. Sounds like the same stuff we’ve all been hearing for a year plus. He also left an out saying the Pac would take $8M-$10M if the TV partners meant better exposure.
Nothing new from him really.
There’s an “insider” on a Utah state website that nailed a bunch of stuff in the past particularly their entry into the Pac a few days before it happened. He’s been saying for months his sources in the Utah State administration told him it will be $15M+. All the sudden in last day or two he says those sources have gone quiet and he thinks it may be in the $12M-$15M range instead. Pete Thamel has an article saying he expects less then $11M. Seems like all the rumor pusher’s are starting to coalesce around the 10M-12M range.
Either way we know its not going to be anything near the ACC or BIG12 much less the BIGSEC.
Very similar to what I’ve heard leading up to today although today I listened to another podcaster that mentioned Thamel’s name too and ~$8-10M range. . Hopefully, it is ~12-15M but if they are willing to sacrifice more $$$ for better exposure, I guess that’s a good compromise.
Apparently it’s a pool where you guess and if you are close or correct you get to claim you had insider knowledge.
Let’s start an angry pool, price is right rules apply…closest without going over wins
Go…
LOL although most commenting are just passing along what they’ve listened to on podcasts like I’m doing. I just want to see the 8th football school added so we can move forward from this 2+ year nightmare. How much the media deal is won’t affect me or anyone else. I think we all just want to see the beavers survive and be competitive again and I think they will this upcoming season…
Seems like all the chatter would indicate they are in final negotiations with partners.
Is this good? Seems awful.
Dare I say that we need StudentBeaver back and complaining so we can get back to winning?
He is back but using a different name although he denied it..However, the tone is the same. He always comes in after a loss with his negativity and rarely after a win.
As you may already know, he gave his word before the win over FSU, that he would permanently leave this board of FSU lost. He disappeared for a few days and then a brand new user name appears on the board using a phrase that I’ve commonly used in reference to baseball. I have had some unpleasant exchanges with him, therefore, I’m supposed to believe a new visitor just magically appears out of the blue using the same phrase as his new user name. When I called him out on it, he became indignant bc he came out of the closet and was easily recognized.
Anyway, he is still lurking around and if the beavers lose tomorrow to L’ville, he will surface again. If the beavers win, and let’s hope they do, he go back into the closet again.
Did mommy let you on the Internet again? Did she have to explain the podcasts to you so you could claim to learn?
Maybe it is time to hit the ignore in you like most do
So refined, so articulate, so sophisticated, so well thought out and so cerebral too. Congrats on your twittiness.
Well atleast you don’t deny mommy does the work for you wouldn’t want to call you liar too!!
Is this part of your homeschool homework?
Seriously do you have a thought that’s your own or does she have to read everything to you?
You are on a roll kid. You must be using ChatGPT to come up with your comments. I’m just flabbergasted that you could be so smooth in my your delivery.
…….in your delivery…..
The class clown speaks again.
Please do your mom a favor and zip your fat lip.
The only thing rolling around here is your mom out of the pen once the ducks are done with her.
I know I’m crazy, but I think I’d rather have Hawaii join the Pac more than Texas State. If we’re going to travel over there regularly for Non-con games, why not just make it count as a conference game?
Certainly a better travel location, but from a competitive level, recruiting and TV market, not even close to Texas. For sports, Hawaii doesn’t move the needle like Texas.
Does anyone know how the UCLA/LSU suspended game will affect the start time for the Beavs?
They have to finish the last 5 innings still. That is about 1.5 hours or so, right? Probably us to squeeze the start times for both scheduled games tomorrow.
Quite a day for the Arkansas starter to throw a no hitter and nearly a perfect game. Impressive.
Ncaa says the game will still start on time. LSU/UCLA is scheduled to restart at 10am central time.
I have not looked at the weather. But as we all know this is typical of June in Omaha
WSU is starting to make cuts to athletic programs.
https://www.spokesman.com/stories/2025/jun/16/wsu-track-and-field-eliminating-all-field-events-l/
Keljo is starting today so let’s hope he has good stuff and goes at least 6 innings.
Now scheduled for 11:43 PDT. Very specific :)
Beavs visitors today
L’ville pitcher with his breaking stuff could be tough.
Yep. We can’t lay off on the down and away stuff to save our life. Another issue is we can’t get out of the first without throwing 20+ pitches. Keljo at 11 already with no outs.
I’m trying to figure out who we have for long relief?
35 pitches to get out of the b1, b2 gonna tell us a lot about how far NK can go.
down 1-0 going to t2
Love Keljo as a person, but he’s best suited for closer role. He can’t locate anything except the fb. Need to let him go 1 inning and not worry about the getting any other pitches down. Keep trying to shove him in the starter role and he rarely goes beyond 3 innings and throws a ton of pitches.
L’ville making a lot of contact and still the first time though the lineup.
Parker already sounds like he’s on suicide watch
Keljo needs a clean inning now.
Let’s see: watching called strikes and swinging at balls low and outside the strike zone. This seems to be a common theme for the Beavs.
Yep. I honestly don’t know why anyone would throw anything else. Those pitches they’re swinging at aren’t even close to the zone. Not sure why you have Kreig show bunt on 1st pitch and start the count down a strike. Absolute joke. 1-16 with RISP
Why the heck are we bunting after we just got two walks????
Stayn’ out of DP
So playing not to lose rather than to win?
movin’ runners
No, staying away from the dp. That’s playing the %s but is not playing to lose. If executed, two RISP.
You don’t give away outs after two walks. Make him earn it.
You are incredibly wrong. You bunt all day, especially with a strikeout prone batter at the plate and 0 outs.
Yeah that home run says very much otherwise
Especially when it behind in the score and your bats are struggling.
If it’s true that D wins then things are looking good! Beaver baseball in the b2 for sure!
Keljo at 43 pitches through 2
Not if we can’t get any hits.
You given’ up already? Say it ain’t so!
You got a score runs or it doesn’t matter how good the defense is. Great plays do far but you can’t score without getting hits, walks or errors.
OK, Cap’n O
Not a HR hitters park…they need to be scoring without relying on HRs…can’t expect a bunch of HR near/at the end to bail them out. Though I’d be happy to be proven wrong again.
Parker is standing on the bridge on the other side of the railing……
Yeah, couple solid hits there by L’ville. Need to stop the bleeding, boys.
Well, it could have been much worse but the Beavs need to get their bats going now. 3-0 isn’t out of reach but you got a get the bats going now.
Interesting, both pitchers have very similar total pitches and strikes through 3 full.
Beavs look like they didn’t come to play and Louisville has. Only guy with life in him is Turley. Our offense has shit the bed yet again in high stakes situations. Got spoiled for a few games in regionals vs subpar pitching bit any pitcher with a pulse has had our lunch. Gotta turn something around
Atta boy Jacob!
There we go! Just what the doctor ordered!
Let’s support the team no matter what. It would
Be great if they were perfect but they aren’t. What a fun season. I hope they keep it going. Amazing dedication and resilience.
Thanks, Ai.Krol!
Haha I would make AI illegal if I could. Those were my own thoughts. I know, hard to imagine.
That’s a great take Krol and we certainly can agree on that!
Who knew having a power guy swing was better than having him trying to bunt?
Very strange indeed! Gotta keep building on that momentum
You’ll still have to convince some on here evidently
Gotta love the hindsight here today!
C’mon now. When has Kreig ever bunted this year? Guy just walked 2 batters back to back and you gift him a strike 1 on that bunt attempt and then you abandon it altogether putting kreig behind the count
Look, I’m glad he got the HR, but the fact is he hasn’t been all that dependable.
Remember all the K’s lookin”. remember how long it’s been since you honestly expected him to make solid contact. I’ve been slightly encouraged by his few singles, but the HR hasn’t been what it was early in the year.
Good discussion, good use of this blog.
Yes, I totally agree that Kreig has had his issues leading up to the regionals. Just don’t see him as the guy to bunt. He’s the power dude and not a threat to apply any pressure at 1st. Just don’t think it’s the right spot to ask a guy who’s never done it to do it.
Hindsight? I was who brought up the bad decision to bunt. It was way before the home run he hit. Hey man, sometimes it’s ok to just admit you were wrong
Someone should let the guys know that Zion Rose is good at hitting the baseball
Here we go again. Breaking ball, called strike one. Fastball down the middle, called strike two. Starting out 0-2 for about the 7th time and they are only halfway thru the game.
Love the small ball!
Gotta capitalize here, boys
(Bases full of Beavers, no outs)
Put up some crooked numbers guys. Just need singles to knock them in.
Well, 1 run is better than none but sure missed a big opportunity there!
1 step forward, 2 steps backwards.. Don’t wait until the 9th to attempt a dramatic win but go get it done now!
The inability to capitalize has been killing us. Someone has to make a swing.
I’d actually prefer they didn’t in that situation. Make the guy throw strikes. He walked 2 guys and hit a batter. Reeder’s contact was on ball 4 that would’ve scored a run. Instead, TC swings at the first pitch which was a ball as well and pops out. We’ve got like 3 hits all game. The bats aren’t there and the dude was struggling. We’ll need the bats to come alive if we want to win just think in that spot you make the guy earn the outs after walking the bases full
Yeah, swinging on that first pitch didn’t help especially when you’re down on the scoreboard.
Glad that dude down the 1st base line was paying attention and able to knock that ball down before it hit his daughter.
Dangerous situation
New arm for L’ville, gives up hits and bb’s, gotta make a move now, yet another opportunity.
Would be nice if we could get a rally going against the reliever with a 6.69 ERA…!
But…we can’t
Nice graphic reminder:
ORST 0-9 with RISP
Did they then say 19 straight with RISP? DEPRESSING!
Now 0-10… I suppose in a close game we really only need one good one. But yikes. Our bats have disappeared.
And 1-21 with RISP since the CWS began. Not going to go far if that continues.
Tough to win without any 2 out hits, or any RISP hits for 3 games in a row, especially in a pitcher’s park with wind knocking down any hard hit fly balls. Beavs aren’t lucking into any homers in this park. I’d guess it happens at certain points during the season but is detrimental now.
Still have time and they are within range to make a comeback, but it has been an uphill climb all day.
Homers aren’t lucky….duh!
Louisville continues to get hits when they need it. We need to get some runs this inning.
Well, it won’t be easy but I think they can get to this guy if they’re selective and show patience at the plate.
Damn, TEMU Rollie Fingers was hittable, sorry to see him go
Agreed!
Running out of rope here
Still the heart of the order coming up so it ain’t over until the fat lady sings!
The fat lady is warming up her voice.
In danger of the doors falling off here…
The Beavers may lose this baseball game to Louisville….
Win or lose, this has been a great run by the beavers and this run will be a tremendous asset for recruiting!
Ok guys, make the fat lady choke!
Well……okay then
The fat lady is starting to gag!
And the FAT LADY HAS CHOKED!
Arquette stuck his, umm, bat in her throat…
I kinda wondered if there was going to be runner’s interference called there, but I’m not an umpire so not sure how that’s determined. Tricky play with the ball running right in front of the base runner there.
From NYT game track:
“T9 – Louisville 6, Oregon State 4
AJ Singer puts his bat over the plate and bloops one into right field for a single!
The bases are loaded for the Beavers. Nobody out.
An extra-base hit could win the game for Oregon State.
This Beavers team just refuses to go away!”
Weak breaking balls just allowed to coast right down the middle for strikes, ugh
All day long. Gotta sit back and drive that bad boy!
Even though we tied it up, it feels crappy to leave runners on 2nd and 3rd like that. Not excited for the bottom of the inning here…
Second and third no outs, two k’s and a weak pop out…
It looked like we were afraid to swing the bat.
Those 2 strikeouts are pretty frustrating. At least Reeder made contact. Should be up 7-6 at least.
Great comeback to tie at least. Hoping Lucy isn’t holding the football lurking nearby though.
^^this
Unreal no-call there on that pitch. Brutal.
It was outside
I woulda called it a strike ;)
I know, I would have too but it was still outside.
The Beavs should have had a blow out inning with Oakes pitching for the win. If they lose this they can look back to the top of the ninth. Batting with RISP has been atrocious!
Well, turn two DP!
Lucy lurking
Bring in Dax!
These guys were the 7th best defensive team in the nation? They have been awful in Omaha!
Triple play! Wouldn’t that be amazing!
Zach Edwards, here’s your chance to become a Beaver legend…
I have no bb expertise – it just seems daft to put an untested pitcher into that situation.
He looked good in his previous outing. Based loaded nobody out and the % to score a run are very high ~85% according to AI.
Watching this game is like getting a root canal without novacaine!
Great season and just ran out of a little bit of luck. L’ville deserved to win that one
Great comeback, but you can’t leave that many runners in scoring position and expect to advance.
That’s baseball I guess
Yep, that it is. Has the chances in the T9th and couldn’t push a run across. Beavers still had a great season and I look for CC to win the title.
Guys had a great year! Inconsistent play really hurt them in Omaha. Will be interesting how many juniors will return versus turning pro.
I think the RISP stat for Omaha was something like 1/26 and 0/14 in this game alone. Then add on multiple run scoring errors on top of that its going to be hard to win games against good teams. Congratulations on a great season Beavs, anytime you get to Omaha is special.
Great effort by the Beavs, but…
8 errors in 3 CWS games i
12 lob today
1-15 with RISP for today
2-27 with RISP for CWS
Bullpen struggled in all 3 games to maintain control of the game.
I still think the elephant in the room is roster philosophy especially when you have a team that leans on home runs but the CWS park punishes those teams. Arquette surely both us swings by should’ve been it in a normal park but that park doesn’t play normal. Great run and great effort nonetheless.
Proud of the team and maybe they get back next year with plenty of experience.
*Arquette and Turley both had swings that should have been home runs…
Need to incorporate more small ball. Poor defensive play and average pitching really let us down. The inability to get hits with RISP will do you in as well. The other bad thing was strike outs with RISP. If you put the ball in play you’ll like plate a few more runners.
Raw ending to a good season
Yes, but overall was a great season. Anytime you make it to Omaha you’ve had a great season. Winning it all is the icing on the cake!
Great season, its not easy making it to Omaha. Still a disappointment since this team had the talent and all the resources (new hit center, whatever pitching bullshit they use, dam analytics, etc) to be better than a 1 win team.
My opinion is still that pitching and defense wins the post-season and particularly in Omaha. Dax was great but the rest of the pitching was just OK and our defense was dog shit. We made more errors in 3 games than the other 7 teams combined. Our offensive strategy does not lend itself to manufacturing runs. We live and die by the long ball and sadly every post-season our offense has stalled for a couple of games and thats all it takes to be sent home if pitching and defense aren’t immaculate. Unfortunately for us, it wasn’t good enough to pick up the slack.
I think we need to make some moves in the portal. Outside of McEntire, there really wasn’t anyone on the bench that got much exposure at all this season and we will lose 80+ percent of our offense when Turly, Arquette, Weber and TC leave. If Kreig can build on his new swing that would be huge. Reeder needs to make some strides offensively. He was good for about a month then found himself moved all the way to the 9 hole in the lineup. Your CF can’t be your 9 hole guy. Talt is fine. He’s a good enough for RF and his defense is great along with Reeder. I assume Singer is back but now that means we need to replace SS and 3rd and we had 0 bodies play those positions on the bench that I recall. Santana played 2nd and Singer moved to 3rd when they benched TC for a few games. We’ll have an untested catcher, 3rd, ss, and left field. I assume the outfield will be McEntire, Reeder and Talt if everyone stays. One thing that needs to change is to be able to manufacture runs. Under MC we’ve always struggled vs good to decent pitching and usually make our moves once we get to the middle and end of a pitching staff. Hopefully Mitch and Gibson are open to some change to allow for using small ball and stealing bases. Our stolen base attempts were in the bottom 80% of all college programs. Coastal and Louisville were super aggressive on base and that led to runs being scored on a consistent basis where as our offense lulled until the 9th inning. Anyway, still impressive to make it to the final 8 but as I’ve said since MC took over, not sure his style of ball is what translates to the ultimate goal. We’ll see what the future brings.
Creek agree with more small ball capability. Would love to see more bunting, steals and hit a running, but it sure seems like our guys swing and miss a lot. All the guys had to do was put the ball in play in the top of the 9th with runners on second and third and we most likely score another run. The team really needs on making contact and lowering the swings and misses.
Yes, very well put. I know for a lot of people out there all the current sexy stat is all about launch angle snd exit velocity. I could care less what those numbers are if you can’t put the ball in play. Who gives a shit if you can knock the cover off the ball if its only going foul or you strike out. We need the ability to put the ball in play. When you do that, good things generally happen. We strike out so fucking much in key situations and failed miserably to make things happen. 1-27 or 2-27 with RISP is so ridiculously bad for a team that has the “talent” that we supposedly have. I’m sure players are more appreciative of the MC approach as it probably is more in-line to what the pros are looking for, I’m just not sure that will ever translate to what is required to win it all at the college level.
You also have to wonder how more years the fan base will be happy with just making a splash to make the post-season but never being able to win it or make meaningful impact in Omaha. Murry state with very limited resources makes it to Omaha. Coastal has a first year head coach that has steered his team to the most overall wins and very realistic odds to win it all. What I hear from a lot of MC guys is that its only year 5 or year 6 and he needs time, etc. And I get some of that but then I also look at other coaches and teams with far less talent and resources and achieve what he’s done here. MC is an awesome person, clearly loves OSU and is a great developer of good dudes…just have to wonder if his style of ball can translate to the ultimate prize. Time will tell
Still calling this a W because we lost student beaver. I drink happier tonight with him gone.
For real though, this was a gut punch. It felt over to me when they didn’t score any more runs after pulling even. I couldn’t bear to watch the bottom of the 9th because what happened was inevitable.
Death, Taxes, Lucy-“I am inevitable”
Very good-great-ish season. Super Regional win was very nice accomplishment, but 0-4 against Ducks and the performance in the CWS tarnished the season and again calls into question what seems like a lack of intensity, focus, and attention to detail. It seems like they think they can turn it on when they need to (and almost did today) instead of playing with consistent intensity. Agree they need to incorporate small ball capability, and base running/steals. That doesn’t mean abandoning big hits, it means diversifying their approach to compliment an existing strength.
Top 8 finish and exposure should be good for recruiting! They represented OSU well with an independent, road heavy schedule.
I think anytime you make the CWS it qualifies as a great season!
Yeah I’m curious what happens when the MW teams join the pac, what does the beavs schedule look like and how does that effect rpi, sos etc?
I’ll end it with Miiiiiitch!!!!!!! Lol
Still a great season. Much better than most if not all predictions here. Still sucks to come up short, especially when so many missed opportunities with RISP. But what a fun team to root for, excited for next year.
According to AI there 300 DI baseball teams, so finishing 7th or 8th (?) is pretty damn good….
6th bc Murray State and Arizona went out before the Beavs!
I think it was a success to get beyond a Super-Regional for Mitch and the boys. It surely seemed to be their limit for most of the year. As already said, Omaha is a successful season, great season. And the context should be that this was Mitch and the staff’s first time to Omaha as a unit just like the players. The program needed to get to Omaha, and they did it. Well done!
The flaws were there, and they got hot in the supers and overcame them for a while. But there was a distinct difference with how well CC and Louisville made contact. Dax was masterful in the early innings but other than those innings, the Cards were constantly creating pressure and forcing the Beavs to field well. CC also had success just making contact and putting the ball into play.
The strikeouts catch up to the Beavs and kill great opportunities. I’d rather have Kwans in the line-up than Carraways. The guys who can’t change the swing to the situation are eventually a liability when the game is on the line. Turley, Arquette types are great when things are rolling and everyone is loose and hitting, getting on base against decent/not great pitching. But once they face elite pitching, it is a lost cause and Turley/Arquette can’t win it all by themselves. The lesser guys in the line-up weren’t up to the task. But I think it is more to do with the overall strategic offensive approach. The home-run fixation for most of the season lulls you into thinking it is THE winning strategy. It is as you face mostly sub-par starters and some bad bullpens. But once they got to Omaha, the flaws were magnified and the 5-9 guys weren’t adjusting to create any form of small ball pressure, or even trying to simply get slap singles. They all seemed to keep swinging big in that ballpark against great pitching. It is no wonder the CC is so good, same with Louisville. They make contact, take extra bases, put pressure on the defense to field properly and cash in on singles, doubles rather than over-swinging in bad situations.
This is not to be taken as a rant. I’m trying to formulate the type of line-up that seems preferable to what we just saw. If Mitch is applying analytics, why not find guys with high contact rates and high walk rates, and it is a bonus if they hit for power? In short, a line-up of Kwan>Carraway. Why not recruit to this style?
Agreed with this. Im happy and satisfied. This team did not have the horses to win it all. Imo, they finished above their ceiling.
No Friday night, lights out starter. But I believe we have one for the next 2 years in Dax.
No real bonfide, lock down closer. But I do think we might have one in Edward’s.
Gonna lose some offense for sure, but I think that’s easier to replace than developing quality pitching for OSU.
It was a great season. Did it end the way we hoped? No, but MC finally got a team to Omaha.
The sky isnt falling.
Bold prediction. There will be a bowl game for the football team.
Talk to yall when fall camp rolls around. Enjoy yo summer and Go Beavs
We need Casey’s warts.
And his pizza commercials.
Glass half full thoughts. 2004 and 2017 happened before either group won in Omaha so here’s too next year…..
If Dax turned down $3.2m, Arquette came as a top portal player, caraway and turley stayed, means we have legit NIL $ behind this program unlike football and basketball. Let hope that’s reoccurring versus flash in the pan.
I do think we had the pitching talent to win this year, and wasn’t a major issue in Omaha. Play better defensive and pitch counts aren’t an issue. We had a ton of young arms, let’s hope they all stay and continue to develop. When edwards at 98 is your last resort arm, it means you are deep and have the talent.
I found it odd how similar the games against Louisville were. Visiting team ties it up from three down with some help by bad fielding. Home team comes back to win it in the ninth. I think the team went about as far as it could go and Mitch getting his first team to Omaha is huge. I’d like to think that every player that comes to OSU as a Freshman will make a trip to Omaha before they turn pro, or graduate. I’d “settle” for that. once there its a crap shoot.
Hoping this team got a taste for it this time around and wants more.
That’s exactly how it should be viewed. Winning in Omaha isn’t necessarily a reflection of who has the best program.
Canham deserves a ton of credit for getting this program back to Omaha after losing possibly the best college baseball program builder ever.
I have to remind myself this is Mitch’s first coaching gig with college kids. I’m sure he’s learned a lot over the 6 years or so about connecting with them, motivation etc.
I’m a little surprised at the calm/mature demeanor here this morning.
No rants about unearned runs, errors, or lack of hits with RISP? C’mon, this is Angry Beavs!
LOL, Nice to see the adults returning.
Now, if only Krieg hadn’t been asked to bunt….
This place is at its worst during baseball season. I’m glad it’s over and we can get back to the existential dread portion of the show.
Umm, you have been around for the “go for it on fourth” debates, right?
Just run the dam ball!
Still better than guys handwringing about our only blue-blood sports program and calling for everyone involved to be fired. It’s like listening to Ohio State football fans.
PAC 12 team additions, GOR/media terms, politics…
Don’t encourage politics….
Anybody have a list of our incoming freshman to reinforce the baseball program. How many of the recruits that were drafted signed pro contracts? Just trying to get an idea of how good the reinforcements are coming in. Thank you!
the draft is now after the CWS so we don’t know yet
Well our top 2 guys would be Xaveir Neyens and Mason Pike. Neyens I believe is a first round projection and Pike is a top 100 or 150 rating. Seems doubtful that either would make it to campus but who knows. We did get Dax so there’s a chance, slim, but a chance. Otherwise, I’m not too sure about other names incoming who would be projected to be that instant starter in the field.
Ok thanks guys. Much appreciated!
https://osubeavers.com/news/2024/11/20/baseball-welcomes-13-for-2026-season
Trey Morris is the intriguing one.
He started one game his junior year and knew something was wrong. Turned out he needed Tommy John and sat for the year. In addition, Texas ended his commitment.
He came back on fire his senior year, with a 9-3 record in 14 appearances (71.2 IP), 3 ER (.29 ERA), and 149 SO to 17 BB.
He’s mocked somewhere around 200.
Thanks Jack and Bill!
Coastal Carolina is on a mission. Would have been nice to have beaten Louisville but I don’t think there was any way we were going to beat CC twice.
I agree. I think they win it all.
I agree. CC is not flashy but they pitch very well, play exceptional defense and get timely hits…kind of like the old Pay Casey teams.
Nice football commit from TX S Kai Wheaton.
Picked the Beavs over Arkansas, Houston, Cal, TX Tech and many others.
Son of Kenny Wheaton, cousin of Markus Wheaton
I wouldn’t call it a commitment until he’s officially signed and on campus
..as we know players change their minds often bc of NIL. Instead, I think it should be called a strong level of interest rather than a commitment.
Coastal might not lose another game. And if so, I don’t think they are losing 2.
Anyone got their eye on baseball portal players that would be a great pick-up to fill 2026 gaps?
Caden Aoki (USC Pitcher) is in the portal. I watched the USC / TCU game at the Corvallis Regional and had never seen a college pitcher with such control of the strike zone. He made the ump look foolish. The beavers could sure use a guy like that next year as a Sunday starter.
Macon Winslow (Duke Catcher) is in the portal. Solid Weber replacement. He was a Buster Posey watchlist player.
Aoki’s going to Georgia.
https://www.on3.com/teams/georgia-bulldogs/news/pitcher-caden-aoki-transfers-to-georgia-everything-fit-what-i-was-looking-for/
Eddie Madrigal has already been speculated as a guy who may be a Beav next year.
I’m not sure how many pitchers are needed, but I’d think some positions players get a bit of attention to backfill for the guys leaving.
I wonder if we have another guy come in from some of the west coast big ten teams again like Arquette did.
Cooper Walls went to Florida, so it looks like there aren’t really any sleepers in the baseball portal.
Retaining the homegrown talent and complimenting them with a couple pieces seems to work best for us.
Jon Wilner makes predictions on Pac12 media deal, except he also says its based on no substnative or current info….so what’s the point?
Free version of the article is linked below but keep in mind it’s just fluff.
“The following forecast is based on information and insight collected over the course of months, not up-to-date information provided by sources. (Only a handful of people know the details, and they aren’t talking.)”
https://x.com/SeaTimesSports/status/1935435899531129258?t=YlwZz-emuoiXK2YmReooKg&s=19
Maybe this is his way of getting an actual source to speak up and give him credible info.
“If you dont talk to me, I’m going to run with these $7m – $10m numbers. Balls in your court, Pac12”
It gets lower every day. Pretty soon it will $500,000 per school every 3 years.
The only things I remember about leaks about the deal are that in September we thought our valuation was $12-15m. In October, Gould said she was going to tier the structure of the deal. In February, Clownzano said an AD told him it is a tiered deal, and everyone was, “very happy.” In March, “somebody” jumped back into bidding for tier one content, delaying the deal (and increasing the money…not reported, but that’s what happens, when a higher bid comes in). The deal was likely done last week, when our new conference met.
What, “very happy,” means relative to that initial $12-15m valuation is the big question. I’ve heard the pieces are worth more than the whole, because multiple distributors means more opportunity to fill national slots, compared to selling all our rights to one distributor who already has content prioritized. The initial valuation was based on the latter.
I’ll also say he bases his numbers on three times the value of the old MWC contract. At least that is sound reasoning, if his numbers were current. It doesn’t jibe with comparisons to what the ACC and Big XIIIIII draw for viewership, unless inflation has occurred since 2019.
Lurking here and there, I see a lot of MWC fans convinced the original schools are all getting $6m in their next deal.
Is that Aiden Jimenez who was once a Beav on the mound for Arky?
One and the same…..
I don’t know if I could feel back for any Arkansas team, so I still won’t. But maaaaaaaaaaaaan! Ouch! Forget the jello shots, it’s going to take a hell of a lot of Jack Daniels to get over that one.
And I don’t feel BAD for them either!
Singer is a gold glover! Third of all time for the Beavs.
https://www.oregonlive.com/beavers/2025/06/oregon-states-defensive-ninja-wins-a-gold-glove.html
Regency bias says, “wickets.” But he did have an excellent year.
apparently the monarchy controlls autocorrect
This is why I’m not sure what to make of the errors in Omaha. I think most of them were “effort” errors. Turley’s dive, Arquettes game 1 one throw, Wilson botching the overthrow, miss handling the bunt…etc. Were example of trying to do too much versus botching of routine plays.
When people yell MITCH!!! Its because Casey’s players didn’t seem to make these errors. Example: the talking point going into the 9th of game 1 needed to be “ no doubles” and then Turley immediately dives for a ball with no outs. Mitch!!!
Singers botched double play and Arquette’s high throw in game 2 (or Krieg not jumping) were the only routines errors that come to mind. While they were the biggest cause they turned what would have been a close game 2 into a blow out before it got started. I tend to say “that’s baseball” on those kind of plays when made by regularly reliable players.
Was Omaha too big of a stage? We see it throughout the CWS for most teams, not CC this year or Pat Casey led teams.
I also wonder if it’s related to how long some of these guys are in one program. They aren’t getting the same amount of reps with the same mental foundation. Does that show in the big moments?
I also wonder if it’s related to how long some of these guys are in one program. They aren’t getting the same amount of reps with the same mental foundation. Does that show in the big moments?
Does make you wonder how differently the CWS goes if just one or two of the errors gets turned into an out. The CC game alone had some eyebrow raisers….I mean 1 or 2 errors all tournament, but what they have, like 5 or 6?!?!?
MBB picks up a 6’6 Slovenian wing via family friendship with Teo Alibegovic.
Samar was the leading scorer in the Spanish second division last year. Might have been just the second division for his age group? I don’t know much about Euroball.
I once saw Teo and Gary Payton get into a fist fight in the showers after the Beavs beat Arizona. Both were buck naked and going toe to toe. GP was calling Teo the N word repeatedly. Fight ended with both on the ground wrestling and coaches pulling them apart. Other players and coaches acted like it happened everyday. Ralph didn’t even get up from his desk. Just sat there with his feet up smoking a More cigarette reviewing game stats. Afterwards, I got GPs autograph on a hat which I still have today. I was about 12 years old and my dad got me in the locker room after the game based on his friendship with Jimmy Anderson and Andy McClouskey.
I hope GP got dressed before he autographed your hat!
Thankfully yes but I had a friend with me who went up to him before he was dressed and asked him to sign his Penn State hat.
When GP was a Sonic, a number of teammates hated him. One said something like “I hope he doesn’t die soon, no one would go to his funeral.”
GP HATED losing, plus his dad berated him constantly when he was young, leading to his trash talking…one account had him beating a and trash talking a young Jason Kidd so bad, Kidd would go home crying.
I loved what Payton did at OSU, and the Payton/Kemp/Karl Sonics were my favorite NBA iteration of a team, even if they came in second. So fun to watch.
I saw Payton led Sonics beat a Kings team and it was a blast….Payton with a casual underhand lob from half court, perfect for a dunk….Payton doing a 360 on his dribble on a fast break, identifying where his teammates were, then making a perfect assist that couldn’t be defended….
But he sounds like a real asshole.
Funny story how that was a regular occurence. He was a heck of a player.
Imagine this in a couple years when GP is the new coach.
Payton used to drive around campus in a brand new Sazuki Samari. Always wondered if that was a “gift” from the school. UCLA would probably pass out Mercedes, we could only scrape together enough for a Sazuki Samari.
I mentioned before the teams swing and miss rate needs to change. Way to many strikeouts. You have to put the ball in play to make the defense make plays. Plus you can use your speed to put more pressure on the “d”. Arkansas took the lead late in last nights game by putting the ball in play.
Historically, Beavers have been known for putting more pressure on the “d”.
Gotta get back to their roots
Gotta diversify their approach. Compliment existing strengths with what they used to do…
Yeah, agree NB.
Seems an oddity of fate for Ark coach. He gets the teams to Omaha and in the two games I’m aware of, the unspeakable happens. I was listening to the team radio – the announcer was in disbelief.
Yeah, they have had some great teams and can’t seem to get over the hump. I thought they would beat LSU twice. I don’t think they’ve won a championship. Saw quite a few Arkansas license plates in NE MO on I-29 heading south most likely coming from Omaha yesterday.
TG and the Pac 12 are headed to DC next week

Phil Steele has the Beavs as one of his 5 most improved teams for 2025. Interesting, considering the major losses on the OL.
It’s pretty crazy that we’re sitting here in 2025 and Coach Cav’s ability to whip an inexperienced group into shape is probably the number one factor for whether it will be a successful season.
Makes sense. QB play was terrible last year. The defense was passive, inexperienced, and injury riddled. The addition of Murphy at QB and Bray calling the D makes the Beavers almost instantly better.
The OLine will likely be the weak link. Hopefully the D stays healthy and keeps them in games.
Great QB play can elevate a below average team to a pretty good team. Can’t remember the last we had very good qb play. It’s been awhile.
The Beavs had a pretty good team a few years when we had that Clemson qb transfer that was average at best and we competed for the conference right up until the last couple games. The Oregon game doesn’t count because Smith quit on the team. But if we would have gotten above qb play it would have been a lot more interesting.
Just read on another beaver feed that there are some quality baseball players in the portal that are visiting OSU but no makes provided at this point. .
What are the chances?
https://duckswire.usatoday.com/story/sports/college/ducks/recruiting/2025/06/19/oregon-ducks-football-bryson-beaver-elite-11-finals-standout/84278845007/
James DeCremer on the portal.
Just saw that. That’s a big blow
I wonder why? Obviously not happy or maybe wants to play closer to home.???
Listening to an agent who has plans for a “whole house” remodel?
Yeah, I thought he had some quality moments especially later in the year but good luck to him as the beavers will reload and find the next up on the mound.
A principal at Roosevelt high school in Seattle was placed on leave after football recruiting violations, and another SEA HS and former NFL player were also punished for football recruiting violations. WTF.
Next, people just need to be able to legally bet on HS sports…
“Oregon State baseball: Heartbreak in Omaha fuels hope for future
Of Oregon State is expected to lose an abundance of important pieces from a team that reached the World Series for the eighth time in school history, including the first under coach Mitch Canham.
…
The outfield could return starters Easton Talt and Canon Reeder and burgeoning prospects Carson McEntire and Adam Haight, who insiders think could blossom into the Beavers’ next star. And while Oregon State coaches sweat out Caraway’s draft decision, they will be reassured by the potential of freshman Paul Vazquez, who has drawn rave reviews behind the scenes all season. Junior Bryce Hubbard and freshman Ryan VandenBrink will try to supplant Weber at catcher, and the right side of the infield should be buoyed by the return Jacob Krieg and Singer.
When asked Tuesday if he planned to come back his senior season, Singer declared: “I’m a Beaver at heart. We’ll see what happens.”
“I’m going to take a week or two, but the grind never stops, especially with baseball,” he said. “I’m going to get in the weight room — try to hit a couple more jacks next year — and I’m going to get bigger and stronger and help this team out even more.”
One area of next year’s roster that needs little help is pitching. The Beavers could feature the best starting rotation in college baseball next season.
Right-hander Dax Whitney is a future ace — and perhaps a future No. 1 overall MLB draft pick — who only scratched the surface of his immense potential during a Freshman All-American season. Sophomore left-hander Ethan Kleinschmit blossomed from the staff’s “little secret” into the most consistent starter on the staff. Sophomore Eric Segura brings 14 career victories and 20 career starts back next season.
…
Joe Freeman | jfreeman@oregonian.com“
Laif Palmer has hit the portal.
Should expect 1-2 more pitchers to hit the portal. The three guys in so far are not that unexpected.
DeCremer came in with high expectations and was injured his freshman year. While showing flashes this year, he never really had a breakout year like everyone wanted.
Palmer is a bit of a surprise but if his goal is to be a starter, it wasn’t going to be happening next year at OSU.
Johnson was an easy one. Just didn’t make a break through this year and another school should offer him plenty of innings.
Sad to lose the three as they all have a lot of talent. Palmer and DeCremer could be the Friday night guy at smaller schools.
Beavs add First Team All Big-10 reliever Isaac Yeager, per hedberg
Well, it looks like we “won” the Rocco’s “Pac-12” Championship beating Arizona and UCLA’s totals 2053-1822-1590 (as of the most recent update) and we’re 15 shy of moving past Louisville.
is this supposed to mean something?
Anything?
https://news.yahoo.com/news/50-000-old-block-ice-040000042.html
“In a new study published this week in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS), scientists from Oregon State University identified the fastest natural rates of CO2 rise over the past 50,000 years. To do this, the research team tapped into bubbles of air trapped in West Antarctic Ice Sheet Divide ice core that essentially preserved the delicate balance of gasses present in Earth’s atmosphere at the time of their icy entombment.”
Macias and Santana to hit the portal too……
.
Man these umps suck so much ass
brutal to get two coaches thrown out in the first inning
Looks
Like the fix is in early for LSU to be crowned.
Somehow the Coastal Carolina head coach and first base coach get tossed with 1 out in the bottom of the first. Insanely touchy home plate ump. Looks pretty bad to anyone not an SEC fan.
ESPN announcers working overtime trying to rationalize why the top 2 CC coaches are now out for the remainder of the series even if CC wins today.
Typical grandstanding umps unable to take the high road and put themselves squarely in the middle of the game.
CC is a mouthy and arrogant bunch but no way the top 2 coaches should ever get tossed so quickly and for 2 games…
I guess this probably what any team would be up against once the SEC has a team in the finals again.
They showed replay around the 5th inning, Shnall was told at least three times to get his ass back in the dugout and kept coming and mouth was going…he deserved to get tossed
I saw it live in the first and there was a lot of poor camerawork to show what had actually happened. It was during the second at bat of the bottom of the first. It seemed really quick given the situation and point in the game, and quite intense for both the CC coaches and the home-plate ump. They never said what the first base coach did or who tossed him either.
Believe me, I’m not a fan of CC and their act got pretty annoying after a few innings. But it is the first inning of their biggest game of the year and the ump just loses it on them.
I’ll watch post game presser and see what the CC coaches have to say for themselves. You are likely correct but man, I just think about 2017 and kind of wish Casey had lost his mind that way when they were getting cheated by the umps on behalf of another LSU team.
Angel Campos was the plate ump, I’ve always had a good impression of him.
In 538 MLB games he booted 23, doesn’t seem to be a red flag; haven’t seen info on his record in NCAA.
That said, pretty extreme given the situation; the game, the point in the game, the stakes.
https://sports.yahoo.com/article/angel-campos-know-college-world-202344282.html
BTW, looks like Greg Street umped in the first game, not sure of position.
Schnall was officially thrown out for contact with an ump, which didn’t happen.
The ump that ran in when he came out to talk to Campos tripped on Campos’ foot and flopped, and that’s the contact he was tossed for.
This was a major shit show.
He was ejected for arguing balls and strikes after being warned, to wit:
https://x.com/JacquesDoucet/status/1936881832211165202
That’s not what Campos told Schnall in the moment.
In the end, it was the umps who escalated the situation beyond just throwing a thumb, making it the spectacle it was.
Campos isn’t in a league that shows the strike zone on TV for a good reason. He was not well liked by most fanbases.
sure feels like the fix is in for LSU
Yeskie
Beavs got a transfer commit C from Texas A&M who was at USC prior to that. Not an impressive stat line: .220AVG 1HR 7RBI in 20 games played.
https://247sports.com/college/oregon-state/article/oregon-state-baseball-transfer-portal-commitment-jacob-galloway-251155174/
He isn’t a good catcher waste of getting someone out of portal. Third school in 3 years isn’ta good sign.
Did add a decent but not great pitcher from Washington to replace Palmer but really didn’t have tough outings this year.
Look for 3-4 more OSU players to hit portal in days to come.
Interesting to watch a college World Series game with 30mph crosswinds. Who decided the location or layout for that stadium?
Normally not very windy there.
CC 0-12 with risp lol
Lol this game… CC looking like beavs did, against CC
Curious how much NIL money it throws at their baseball players. College sports is the have’s and have nots. Greed has ruined them.
https://www.collegenetworth.com/nil-and-transfer-portal-impact-on-lsu-baseball/
Waiting for a #tooloatenate appearance for this game…
Man didn’t realize half the LSU team were from the transfer portal, blech
LSU gotta do something with all that booster cash!
the finest team money can buy, LSU
Carson McIntyre in the portal..That’s a tough one to lose.
Would have really liked for him and Decremer to have stayed. And what are the odds TC stays another year?
Maybe 50/50.
Isaac Yeager, all conference B10 reliever, is headed to OSU.
Look up about 10 posts
I obviously missed it. He sounds like a solid relief guy so. Thx
Why is the baseball team getting hit so hard by the portal? Guys who know they won’t be staring here next season?
My best guess is we have some high profile transfers coming in…..
OT: Nice to see the OKC Thunder win the NBA championship…not that I watch NBA with any regularity, but as I understand it, its a team built through the draft, with solid, patient, consistent management, seem to have a real “team” feel to them and quite a bit of humility. Young too. Maybe if they can maintain the emphasis on “team” they’ll stay together a while and be threat for a few more years.
Sounds like the Pacers put up a pretty good contest, even after losing their star early.
Pac12 announced their new media deal is with primary partner CBS, through 2031. More media partners to be announced later.
https://pac-12.com/news/2025/6/22/general-cbs-sports-and-pac-12-extend-partnership-through-the-2030-31-season.aspx
Well… I guess all that talk of exposure was just a lie.
I’m not paying $70 a month just to get CBSSN. I’ll pay $5 a month, if it’s an add-on to Paramount+.
I’m assuming CW will still have some games too.
I’m with you, they might be able to sell fans on Paramount as a cheap add on, but if CBS SN requires a different cable tier other than basic, I dont think fans will want to pay up
I don’t want to pay for basic.
There’s no point to having it, other than to have access to certain sports. And that’s not worth $70 a month. It’s not worth the $30 a month ESPN will charge. I don’t want to pay to have access to thousands of events, just like I don’t want to pay to have access to hundreds of channels. Why should I pay for stuff I won’t watch?
Apparently the deal guarantees a couple football and men’s basketball games will be broadcast on CBS and live streaming on Paramount +. I think it was 3 each plus the conference championship games. Those games will be available over the air and to a national tv audience.
The rest it sounds like may be split up between CBS sport network and other partners. If they go to CBS sports network, I’ll be disappointed, its not worth $70 a month. I have the same issue with ESPN+, its not worth the money and production is shoddy.
CW/FS1/ESPN/ESPN2 would be a decent options. Hopefully they end of up on CW, that was pretty easy.
What a terrible deal
CBS Sports Net? Ugh.
Am I missing the money portion? Is the $$ buried in that announcement?
They’re still negotiating with other partners, and the numbers would bias that process.
“Coach Eddie Smith and the Washington Huskies suffered a big loss in the transfer portal on Sunday afternoon when All-Big Ten First Team reliever Isaac Yeager announced his transfer to the Oregon State Beavers.
Yeager, who will have one year of eligibility remaining in Corvallis, became Smith’s most reliable high-leverage reliever during his first season in Seattle. The 6-foot-6, 215-pounder had a breakout campaign, posting a 4-1 record with 7 saves (No. 2 in the Big Ten), a .234 batting average against, and a 57:22 strikeout-to-walk ratio.”
No surprise that the Texas State to the Pac chatter is getting louder now that the CBS media deal is announced…
https://sports.yahoo.com/college-sports/article/pac-12-in-talks-with-texas-state-over-membership-after-extension-of-cbs-sports-media-deal-sources-142716422.html
If Texas State ends up being added, it looks like there are a number of sports that will have at least 6 schools, meaning they could field a decent league schedule:
Sports offered by all 9 schools:
Men’s basketball
Women’s basketball
Men’s golf
Women’s cross country
Women’s soccer
Women’s track & field
Women’s volleyball
8 Schools:
Football (no Gonzaga)
Women’s golf (no Utah State)
Women’s tennis (no Oregon State)
7 Schools:
Men’s cross country (no Oregon State, no SDSU)
Men’s track & field (no Oregon State, no SDSU)
6 Schools:
Baseball (no Boise State, no Colorado State, no Utah State)
Softball (no Washington State, no Fresno State, no Gonzaga)
4 or fewer schools:
Men’s tennis (4)
Women’s swimming (4)
Men’s soccer (3)
Women’s gymnastics (3)
Women’s rowing (3)
Men’s rowing (2)
Men’s wrestling (2)
Women’s water polo (2)
Women’s beach volleyball (1)
Women’s equestrian (1)
Women’s lacrosse (1)
I guess decent is better than uncertainty. But we are essentially what the Mountain West used to be. Same media partner even
Remember, there will be several partners. It won’t be that different from the old PAC deal where prime time games would get occasionally moved to ESPN even though Fox was the main partner, except the west coast inventory is a big draw that I’m sure we’ll shift to as many networks as we can to maximize revenue.
Bad for east coast Beavs, good for the bank account.
For anyone interested, 30 minute interview with yogi roth and Gould about today’s news. Nothing ground breaking but was interested at the comments about leveraging the pac network to help in the nil space and reimagining a league that fits where these schools are in today’s superconference landscape.
At least they are trying to think outside the box because the way the sec and b1g are going everyone else will get squished. Good to be first to try and carve out a different niche I’m kind of looking forward to seeing how it plays out

CBS media deal announced today. No financial figures were released.
https://www.si.com/college/tulane/news/finalized-pac-12-media-deal-likely-not-enough-to-attract-tulane-football
Rumors spreading that MW might be getting beat in mediation and UNLV is likely to flip to the PAC along with TXST.
I mean I get the Las Vegas market means something but the new PAC already has it. Do we really want UNLV? Las Vegas is quickly turning into a pro town, not sure UNLV moves the needle much with TV viewers beyond what the Pac would already get. Their AD is mired in debt, the football program had a decent year last year but otherwise has been bad for decades along with basketball. I mean if you’re just trying to fill a spot sure but I wouldn’t classify them as a big win under any circumstance.
TXST not much better, but has 2 positives, gets Texas into the footprint and seems to have upside with decent campus facilities (football and baseball).
Third positive: Wants to be a part of the new Pac.
4th positive, cheap but fun road trips
San Marcos?
TXST also has a prez that helped build A-ST football and baseball places to be passable
u already got the best teams from the MW
here is who i would look at
UConn football only
Toledo
with the death of fred smith Memphis should be out
so if u want a travel partner with TXST smiss or ark st u need to look at but both schools have zero $
UNLV has been the school that made the most sense from the get go, so hopefully that still holds true.
Although I’d still rather have Hawaii than Texas State. They make a good built in rival for UNLV
Get ready for a high volume of Non-saturday games. Which is fine by me when it’s a game I plan to watch on TV, but not so good for home crowds at Reser.
Not a huge change from the old PAC, really. We just get less money for the pain.
The plus side is even with things being scattered across networks, it will still be easier to watch games than on the old PAC network.
At least 14 guys in the portal from Beavs baseball. 3 during season, like Trosky, but 11 are since Omaha. Quite a few factors with baseball, scholarship/roster allotment changes, playing time, NIL, etc but still a little surprised to see that many already. McEntire would’ve been a starter and Dawson Santana might’ve been too depending on Singer moving to SS or 3rd. We did pick up an infielder from a CC…not sure if that was due to Santana leaving or why he decided to leave. Regardless, that’s at least 2 of the ones who’ve left that likely started are would’ve seen increased playing time.
McEntire transferring out is a bit of a surprise as he seemed in line for a starting role next year. Santana is not as he didn’t really get many chances.
Transfers in look like immediate contributors. UW seems to be the Beavs minor league team these days.
Beavs have been averaging a very good transfer each year for the past couple years. Have to wonder if they will get one this year. Any guy who wants to win and also skyrocket up the draft board should be looking at OSU.
Kind of disappointing. If the “culture” was so great, why the high volume of players leaving?
It’s college athletics. You dont get paid for sitting idle. Gotta make hay while the sun shines
Will the beavers have a road heavy, independent schedule again next year? Could be a factor.
The guys transferring out are really good players, just want an opportunity to play everyday. With the Beavs its sink or swim at the top. The time to make your name is short. Every year, there’s going to be good amount of transfers.
Look at a couple transfers from last year,
Brandon Forrester. Good player but didn’t show much in his limited opportunities. Transfers to New Mexico State, plays 53 games and hits .323.
Tanner Smith transferred because Weber was going to be the main catcher. He transfers to Miami, plays in 55 games there.
No different in the real world. Like having leaving a great company because there’s just no path forward. Have to go somewhere else to climb the ladder.
Actually this is incorrect on why they transferring out, but you can speculate all you want.
Guys are leaving because of the coaching. When they commit they love the fans and environment. Small town big love for the players. The coaching has changed so much guys are leaving. They used to develop now it’s all about big speeches and look at me coaches.
Now I see you.
Hi pops, kid couldn’t cut it in the program? Maybe Las Cruces is the place you otta be, I hear they’re developing lots of big leaguers.
What are you talking about?
Do you make things up as you go, tell mom to please start limiting your screen time you are getting delirious.
Lol.
All too complicated for me. If you have FUBO, CBS is blocked where there is a local station.
Dunno if players are getting big speeches and perhaps they like them if they do. As for me, the Canham interviews – I’ve listened to 1 1/2. – No thanks!
Apparently and according to a very reliable source for recruiting and portal information, the beavers hosted a group of transfers this past weekend so I would expect the beavers are reloading with talent. I think some of the outgoing players saw the writing on the wall but that’s just my personal opinion…….
Whitney and Kleinschmit will enter tryouts for the USA baseball team.
Cool!
Good luck to them.
Just had a minor panic attack. Let’s all try to avoid starting any future posts with “Whitney and Kleinschmit will enter….” while we are still in the transfer portal season.
Lol. Gotchya. It was intentional.
Looking around at summer league rosters and other events,
Krieg is on a cape cod roster. Means he’s considered a legit MLB prospect. Also would mean he’s really leaning toward returning as he is not at the MLB combine this week. Doesn’t look like anyone else is there which is too bad as the ones who go there typically come back as much better players.
Speaking of the combine, Turley, Keljo and Caraway are there. Turley is a given to leave. Looks like Keljo and Caraway are more than likely leaving if they get drafted. Of the commits, Neyans and Pike were there too.
A few scattered names across the WCL rosters but none of the returning regulars.
Kreig is coming back. He made it Insta official several days ago. TC won’t be back. Doubt there’s any scenario that he plays college ball vs going pro.
A funny thing about the CBS deal, about 2 or 3 weeks ago I had noticed the Beaverfootball twitter account suddenly started following the CBS Sports account. At the time, I thought about mentioning it here on AB as a possible telegraph of the media deal, but had second thoughts and didnt think they would give it away that easily.
Welp, turns out they did and I just chose not to believe it.
Fool me once, Beaverfootball….
https://amp.awfulannouncing.com/apple/apple-tv-possible-bidder-for-likely-pac-12-streaming-package.html
Hopefully they dont go the route of multiple streaming partners, unless its for different sports.
Nobody will want to subscibe to multiples services(Apple/Paramount) just to catch football season.
But i guess if basketball and football are on different platforms from each other it wouldnt be the worst thing.
Good point.
From the article:
“That will be necessary for the conference if it wants to compete from a financial perspective. Per SBJ, reports have valued the conference’s CBS package between $8 million and $15 million per year, but likely under $10 million. That would amount to around $1 million per school. Compared with the tens of millions of dollars in annual media rights fees paid out to schools in the upper echelon of college athletics, these additional deals will need to do some heavy lifting for the conference.”
I guess CBS only committed to 4 football games and 4 basketball games (incl. the conference championship games). Everything else was TBD. If the CBS deal is really $8M-$10M per year total contract value and a pay out of $1M per year to each school is correct, the premium Pac game are valued at about $1M -$1.25M per game. That would indicate the 2nd tier deal for all the remaining content (hundreds of events) stands to be larger than the CBS deal though likely much less $ on a per game basis.
If true, that valuation for the premium games doesn’t bode well imo.
CBS was paying the MWC 3.5m per school for a lesser deal. I doubt it’s 1m per.
I read in this article that each school will only get $1m per year!?!? Does anyone know what the pay-out to the schools will actually be each year? If this is true I can’t see sports being sustainable in the current environment. Man, college sports just grieves me because of where everything has fallen to these days.
All too complicated for me. If you have FUBO, CBS is blocked where there is a local station.
For regular CBS, antenna is the way to go. Except you’d have to watch live
regular CBS games are also on Paramount+
Unless yop have a Tivo OTA dvr.
Tyce Peterson is in the portal…..
I can at least appreciate these guys stayed together to make a run at Omaha. I’d prefer that the same could have been said for the women’s BBall. Some of the hand-wringing over Rueck, Bray, Tinkle was merited after they lost so many last year. The baseball team was spared for the most part and yet here we are now. Mitch isn’t immune to the same dynamics even if this is our one blue blood program. Oh well, life of a Beaver fan. Lucy is always just around the corner.
Maybe they can or already are in process back-filling with better talent, but it is tough to see a lot of these guys just moving out. How many so far?
Apparently it all has to do with the House settlement restructuring rosters. We have to cut six roster spots, and we can probably entice any xfers with now 34, instead of 11, full ships. And that’s if we fund that many.
So most of these guys were either going to be with no ship or on a partial, and they can get a better deal somewhere else.
To Jack’s point https://www.oregonlive.com/beavers/2025/06/how-the-house-settlement-contributed-to-oregon-state-baseballs-14-player-transfer-exodus.html?outputType=amp
I read on twitter that Tennessee had 7 pitchers enter the portal today alone – and 24 players in total so far since the end of the year. This is not unique to Oregon State. And this is a program that won it all in 2024.
Now I see why. They had over 50 players on their 2025 roster! In comparison OSU was in the low 30s.
There was an article yesterday in The Oregonian behind a paywall that talks about the remaining roster and incoming players that Canham is excited about. I don’t have a subscription so it would be interesting to see who the incoming players are in addition to the guys returning players. So far, the portal really hasn’t yielded what I would consider a star power player like last year with Arquette but there’s still plenty of time to land some impact guys.
This should get ya past the wall:
https://archive.ph/cz42E
Thank you. I appreciate it.
“But it’s still early. Beaver Nation needs a little, ‘Hey, trust the process, it’s going to be fine.’ Look at any school — not just ours — and it’s hectic for everyone. Take a breath, understand it’s going to all work out and we’re going to work our tails off at the right moment and we’re going to have the right guys here when that time comes.”
https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/45583703/texas-state-expecting-offer-join-pac-12
I would expect the offer no later than Friday to meet the timeline for the July 1 deadline for Texas St to leave the sun belt conference without the exit fee doubling
This would fulfill the unwritten but apparently ironclad rule that all Pac football school names include “State.” I the offer goes through, well done!
And, I’m sorry, but according to this, UNLV doesn’t pass muster. Maybe they could become NSULV or something . . .
Honestly, we’re choosing from scraps anyway. TX St makes sense to get a footprint in that state but I don’t really understand anyone getting their panties in a bunch over this school or that school with what’s remaining out there.
Jack joked early on after the PAC breakup that all new members should have “State” in their name…
Or was he joking?
I’m all in on Wichita
Part of me wants to see Texas State telling CUSA that they’re expecting a Pac12 offer, only for the Pac12 to offer somebody else. It wont happen, but I feel like we need the additional drama.
(Cough).sun belt
But that wouldn’t be drama.
Wow, 5 of the baseball xfers signed with San Diego State.
let’s hope SDSU wakes up
I see Strasburg has come back as a coach.
Helps bolster their talent which makes for a stronger P12 baseball conference.
No word on a major baseball incoming transfers besides the pitcher from Washington and the A&M catcher…There are several holes to fill
so I’m hoping some top level players that transfer in……soon.
I just saw the top 10 CBB players in the portal and California has a SS, Jarren Advincula, is still available, In 2024, Advincula led Cal with a .325 batting average and was second on the team in both runs scored with 44 and hits with 69. This past season, he was second on the team in batting with a .342 average and led the team in steals with 13 (in 15 attempts) and hits with 81. He tied for the team lead in runs scored with 48, and had six home runs and 33 RBIs.
I’m hoping he might be a target for the Beavs so we could keep Singer at 2nd base if the Beavs make a play for him.
Not much information lately on the mediation deal between the PAC and MWC. I wonder if the MWC is holding things up intentionally so they don’t lose UNLV.
unlv and mediation have nothing to do with each other
They don’t? I’d think the Pac’s financial resources being impacted by the MWC mediation would have a direct impact on their ability to buyout another MWC team?
Not to mention the MWCs ability to make good on their high UNLV and Air Force retention/bonus offers?
https://www.deseret.com/sports/2024/09/25/unlv-air-force-staying-in-mwc-report-signing-bonus-25-30-million/
According to what I’ve listened to, if the mediation goes south $17k down to $10k and no poaching fees, the Mwc won’t be able to pay either of those schools what was promised, therefore, that would give AF and UNLV an out from their GOR agreements. Whether UNLV would join the PAC is anyone’s guess. That’s why I’m curious if it’s a delay tactic……
that all sounds like BS
we aren’t paying any poaching fees. we already know this.
We really aren’t buying shit.
Why would we pay schools who all are interested in possibility leaving in five or six years? They need to be vested, not purchased.
Eggers on Cavanaugh:
‘Do you still bear crawl the guys?’ ” Cavanaugh chuckles. “We do, but today you have to be smarter and convince (the players) that it is good for you, good for your core, which it is.
(He) may handle today’s athletes with a lighter touch, “but I definitely am old-school,” he says. “Some of the old behavior is gone, but as far as teaching the game, I am still the same.”
“He will bring back a whole ‘nother level of toughness that we have needed for awhile”, says Roy Schuening
https://www.kerryeggers.com/stories/mike-cavanaugh-he-coaches-you-hard-and-loves-you-harder
I’m not sure I trust Cavanaugh to develop a decent oline. It feels kind of desperate, and this article almost proves the frailty of having him back again.
“Cav game-planned not only the run game but the (pass) protections,” Riley says. “With the actions and patterns I had planned for, we would put together the protections we would use. He coordinated the front part of that and the running game.
“Then the other (offensive) coaches and I would get together with him to insert the play-action stuff we would use off the run game we had implemented. Separately, we did what we needed to do in the drop-back pass game, and then got back with Cav and told him, ‘These are the patterns we were going to use,’ which would dictate what kind of protections to go with it.”
Hope they don’t return to that….3rd and 20, play action…
Man, that OLine room is banged up. I’m not optimistic about them getting and staying healthy and getting into a cohesive state:
“Cavanaugh says all starting positions are open, though he concedes that Van Wells, a 6-2, 295-pound senior, will likely be the starter again at center . Wells missed all of spring ball due to what Cav calls “chronic injuries,” but should be ready for the start of camp.
“Watching his (video), I can tell he is a good player, smart, seasoned and tough,” Cav says.
Tyler Voltin, a 6-4, 380-pound senior guard, is coming off ACL knee surgery and missed spring ball. Cav isn’t sure about his availability when camp opens.
“He is a freaky good athlete,” Cav says. “I like him a lot.”
Another strong candidate at guard is Dylan Sikorski, a 6-4, 340-pound redshirt freshman who also was out of spring ball with a knee injury. He probably won’t be ready for the start of camp, “but he has a lot of promise and upside,” Cav says.
Josiah Timoteo, a 6-4, 310-pound sophomore, “is a good athlete who played a lot of tackle in the spring, but is built more like a guard,” Cav says.
Tyler Morano, a 6-5, 295-pound senior tackle, is “close to being back 100 percent” after Achilles tendon surgery. Jacob Strand, a 6-5, 300-pound junior, missed the spring with a knee injury.
“Tyler and Jacob both did a lot of individual stuff during the spring, and they worked their tails off,” Cav says.
Cavanaugh likes two other youngsters, both redshirt freshmen: 6-5, 305-pound Jaydon Tuia and 6-5, 300-pound Adam Hawkes. “I like their attitude and work ethic,” Cav says. “They are going to develop into good players.”
UNT BoR has called a special session… behind closed doors, because the agenda is about personnel.
so we’re adding 2 Texas schools??

From their site:
“Located in Denton, one of the best college towns in the nation”
Ooooh, rivalry opportunity here for Beavers!…
But they’re “University of,” not “North Texas State”…so they’ll get lower payout/shares?
UNT has a meeting, that’s for sure. I’m not so sure its related to conference realignment. They’re in the AAC and would the same issues as Memphis and Tulane with a huge buyout on short notice.
If it is related to conference realignment, and they join in 2026, it would be good indication the TV$ is on the higher end of expectations.
I do think if you add a texas school, it makes sense to add another from the area for non-football travel partners.
TSU?/???
BSU/OSU
FSU/SDSU
WSU/Zag
USU/CSU
Tulane isn’t like adding a poor Wazzu.
I have no idea why anyone thinks they’re viable. They spend less on their AD than UTSA does, and UTSA sucks on that end.
TSU is Texas Southern
Looks like Sac State is really pushing for an invitation…
“Sacramento State is a member of the Big Sky Conference but informed the league a week before the NCAA’s decision it would be leaving the conference after the upcoming athletic calendar. The university announced it would join the Big West Conference for the 2026-27 academic year in all sports but football, leaving the window open for a possible invitation from a FBS league.
Now with its request denied, Sacramento State is in position to be an FCS independent for the 2026 season. But Sacramento State president Luke Wood remains confident the football team can still pursue FBS status after the upcoming season.
The Hornets have only two confirmed games scheduled for 2026: on the road at Fresno State and at home against Lamar.
“Sacramento State has met every meaningful benchmark for FBS membership, and we believe our university, our students, and the entire Sacramento region deserve major college football. We’re full steam ahead and we still plan to be playing FBS football in 2026,” Sacramento State president Luke Wood said in a statement on social media.
…
A move to FBS would be instrumental in Sacramento State’s attempt to become a major athletic program not just in California, but on the West Coast.
In 2024, a group of Sacramento State donors formed the “Sac12,” an organization with the goal of paving the way for a bid to the Pac-12. The conference currently has seven football members for the 2026 season, and is eyeing one more football school so it can meet the FBS requirement. The Pac-12 also is adding Gonzaga as a non-football member for the 2026-27 season.
The donor group said it needed to secure $50 million in name, image and likeness commitments for the first 10 years in the Pac-12, $5.25 million in conference fees and additional funding to build a football stadium and basketball arena. On3 reported the group had raised $35 million for NIL funds.
In September, Sacramento State announced plans to build a new campus stadium to replace the temporary stands at its current 21,195-seat facility. The “Sac12” group has also offered to move the basketball teams from its home arena to the Sacramento Kings’ Golden 1 Center, in the city’s downtown area.
The athletic department has also made the investment in its men’s basketball and football teams. In football, Sacramento State hired Brennan Marion as coach and added veteran Tim Brewsteras senior associate head coach. It also added former five-star quarterback Jaden Rashada in the transfer portal. Sacramento State went 3-9 in 2024 after an 8-5 season in 2023, a season in which it advanced to second round of the FCS playoffs.
The Hornets also hired former Sacramento Kings guard Mike Bibby as the men’s basketball coach and, in April, appointed Basketball Hall of Famer Shaquille O’Neal as the team’s general manager in a volunteer capacity.
I believe Sac St will get a P12 invite after Texas State becomes official. I also believe the Beavs baseball team is trying to join B12 for baseball only but Arizona schools are strongly opposed. I do NOT think Memphis, Tulane, St Mary’s, UCONN, USF, NMSU, UNM, UTSA, UNT, and or Creighton will be joining in any capacity. I know nothing concrete but bits and pieces of intel that I’m trying to connect dots with. Over the last couple months, things have played out as expected but a week behind schedule. I think media deal will pay schools receiving full share 10-11m per year max.
SS was denied FBS status just recently by the NCAA.
Not that I think it’ll happen but a conference invite would change any calculus made by the NCAA.
From what I’ve listened to, SS isn’t on the radar but I suppose that could change if TX State, UTSA fall through. The PAC is certainly keeping things very quiet so there could be a surprise entry.
SS just hired antitrust lawyer. FBS status incoming. NCAA has no case
They have an excellent case.
I don’t think UTSA is in play nor do I think any other Texas school will come with Texas St. SS would be added at 0-25% share and helps with travel costs while opening up NorCal media market. Based on the current situation, I think it’s more likely than not that SS is in P12 in 2027. I’d also say there is a slight chance Texas St falls through unless P12 offered a full share. Just speculating
Canzano is saying Texas St is getting a partial share, but I dont subscribe so cant read if he has any details on how much “partial” amounts to
He didn’t have any additional info. Just partial per a “source.”
Fuck Clownzano!
For Direct TV users, it sounds like CBS Sports Network will now be part of the same tier as ESPN.
I don’t have DirectTV, so not sure how big of a deal that is, but sounds like a positive development for Pac12 fans who don’t want to subscribe for an alternate tier just for some football games.

it’s important for the commercial licensing. if there’s one fan in every bar in a market watching a Pac12 game, that’s money.
Looks like Texas State also has a BOR meeting set for Monday, at which point they’ll become official Pac12 members.

The North Texas BOR meeting today doesn’t appear to be Pac12 related.

“Here’s everything to know of Texas State’s move to be the latest new member of the rebuilt Pac-12:
When is Texas State leaving Sun Belt for Pac-12? – Texas State will play one more season in the Sun Belt before joining the Pac-12 on July 1, 2026, along with the other six new programs for the conference.
Texas State will be a full member of the conference, unlike Gonzaga, which is joining the Pac-12 solely for non-football sports.
Texas State exit fee from Pac-12 – Texas State’s exit fee from the Sun Belt is set at $5 million, according to multiple reports. Getting a deal done before July 1, 2025, is paramount, however, as the exit fee jumps to $10 million after the date for the school to join the Pac-12 on July 1, 2026.
Why is Pac-12 targeting Texas State? – Texas State provides the Pac-12 with the final football member needed to have a full-fledged FBS conference, as the NCAA requires each league to have at least eight football teams to be eligible for a conference-specific bowl game.
Texas State is a large university, with more than 40,000 students enrolled in 2024. The Bobcats also have a promising young football coach in G.J. Kinne, who led them to an 8-5 record in 2024 and 2023.
Texas State also appears to be an affordable addition, given its relatively low buyout total with the Sun Belt. The program also resides in a state that’s rich with football talent.
Memphis, Tulane, UTSA and South Florida were all at one points considered as options by the Pac-12, until the four American Athletic Conference programs committed to staying in their current league in September 2024.
How many teams are in the Pac-12? – There are eight teams in the Pac-12 for the 2026 football season, after Oregon State and Washington State were joined by new members Boise State, Utah State, Colorado State, San Diego State, Fresno State and Texas State.
There are nine members of the Pac-12 overall, however, as Gonzaga, a powerhouse in college basketball, is joining the league in 2026 for all sports the university sponsors (which does not include football).

I look at the list of the Pac State football teams, and I’m very pleased seeing OSU, WSU, and Boise State there. CSU, San Diego, Fresno, all up-and-comers, and Texas State will come into the fold energized. Can anyone tell me how we ended up with Utah State? What the hell? How do they belong in football’s Pac State 8?
Agree on Utah State….
With the addition of Texas State I hope the Pac 12 holds and doesn’t add anymore.
The reality is the Pac needed an 8th all sport team. Now that we have it, every additional team just waters down the media value of the PAC. Based on TV eyeballs per game, Memphis, Tulane, UTSA, ???, they all drop the average number of eye balls that watched games played by the teams in the new PAC. Texas State didn’t help but we needed and 8th member. Nobody on the list of expansion candidates that gets thrown around moves the needle and is just another mouth to feed.
Avg Viewers / Game (x1000) 2024 season
OSU 609
WSU 389
Utah St 100
Boise St 422
SDSU 151
Fresno ST 307
CSU 482
Texas St 135
Memphis 251
Tulane 323
Sure would like to replace Utah State, though I know that would be too complex.
Personally, I like Sac State for the Pac State, if only for the rhyme.
Because if we only hold them accountable for last year’s output we would be complete morons. It would be so completely stupid that we would instead end up with UNLV, one of the historically crappiest football programs in the history of football.
Riley used to fight to keep the Beavers in about the top half of the conference, sometimes achieving top 25 rankings. Smith, once he got rid of Tisebar and developed the OLine and running game, about the top third of the PAC 12, achieving top 15 national rankings.
Any guesses on how PAC football programs will shake out in 2026? Just grouping them roughly, I’d estimate
BSU
OSU
SDSU
Fresno State – capable of playing tough, access to CA talent.
WSU – coach from lower division (brought some players with him) will be in his second year. Can he recruit to the Palouse?
Texas State – Decent performing coach at Sunbelt level, no doubt motivated staff, team, and fan base. Maybe benefits from Texas talent base?
CSU
Utah State
Who has the best homefield advantage? Boise State has a rabid fan base, though I’m not sure the stadium setting creates a noise volume that’s difficult to deal with? Beaver crowds had been great right up to the 2-point loss to UW in Smith’s last competitive effort. Will they be as enthusiastic in 26 with this schedule? CSU has elevation, a nice stadium, probably good home crowds?
The PAC could change again in about 4-5 years in the next round of realignment? Where will the Beavers be in 4 years? Hopefully not in the bottom grouping!
ASU was only +1 in scoring differential, against Texas and TXST in regulation play last year.
Multiple sources reporting Trent Caraway hit the portal today
Trent Caraway in the portal now. I figured he’d opt for the majors but I guess not
Ok George d Thomas jr
As reported by the Portland Tribune.
He must not think next year’s squad can make it to Omaha?
I’m guessing NIL $$$$ but now someone is suggesting that PT has made a correction so hopefully they were incorrect?
Trib reported a correction.
What was the correction….
I got my initial information from beaverblitz and I haven’t seen a retraction from BB or the PT.
Just saw the retraction and the PT apologized for their mistake.
Some of yall have memories as short as your dicks. Did we forget the LA bowl vs USU already? Wasn’t that long ago
Transfer RHP from Long Beach State. Looks to be a solid pick up.
https://x.com/RiedellAndrew/status/1938743603700081005
Sounds like a solid pick up for the beavers. We need some position players now.
We’re a conference again!!!
While it isn’t the same, I think the schools we’ve collected have hungry fan bases, scrappy in various sports, and with good exposure (CBS – and I’m optimistic other sources?)
I get how some could feel that this is underwhelming as UNLV, Memphis and Tulane weren’t picked up, but getting to this point helps us live to fight another couple of years. Who’s to say that this conference doesn’t inspire some excitement in our region?
Sure, whole thing might blow up, but I see a conference that OSU can be competitive in every sport (even Basketball) and that gives us more opportunities. The fact that there’s a conference put together ahead of schedule demonstrates that the PAC still means something to the area it serves.
Am I alone in this feeling?
This past college sports year, my only interest in the big leagues was to occasionally check departed Pac-12 teams in the hope that they lost. The departed players, not so much, because it might have been their only opportunity to make that much basketball money. I didn’t follow the NBA draft – were any of them selected?
It might take a while, but I do think the new Pac will catch on. The Walmart and Amazon leagues have no souls.
