Conforto two run shot! 6-0 Beavers. Man, he’s been so good so far this season. Also, amazing how much more relaxed the offense is when the starting pitcher can actually keep a team off the scoreboard for a couple innings.
Correct. He saved Osich’s no hitter with a nice play. But an inconsistent fielder is a bad fielder. Just like Dave Kingman was a bad hitter, despite the many HRs.
The ducks put up 4 runs in the 6th and hold on to sweep Vandy today. Final 7-6. Vandy had the tying run at 3B and the go ahead run at 1B in the 9th with two out but the duck pitcher fanned him.
Barnes makes what sounds like a great catch……deja vu?
He left his feet several times last year, sometimes with poor results, gotta applaud his effort. Maybe he will be smarter this year (coaching?).
its nice having a closer of that caliber, but doesn’t help much when the starter is getting shellacked. A guy that can pitch 6-7 innings a week (as astarting pitcher) adds more value to the team than a guy that pitches two innings. looks like mover they need to make, though casey may still be trying to figure out how can play on gameday.
Maybe he’s a better pitcher now but what I remember when he started was that he was very effective the first time through but the hitters started to figure him out after that.
I’d have to go back and look at the stats, but I think he went into the 6th inning of every start, and gave quality starts almost every time. So, probably 3rd time through. He needs stamina…that could be part of the problem. I know Boyd has wanted to be a started for several years.
I was as high on Boyd as a player as I am now on Davis. I think he should have been our RF last year. I absolutely love him as the setup man. But I don’t think his fielding abilities conflict with that role.
Now we get to see if Davis gets the same treatment. I would love nothing more than to have Boyd and Davis in the line-up swinging every day while also being available for mop-up duty on the mound.
Boyd tires and gives way to Brocker. Matt gives up a dinger to RFwith two out, after a single through the hole he’s done for the day. It seems like he threw a lot of pitches for his 4.2 innings of work.
Shit balloons don’t like what I say. Shit balloons think that the White House has nothing to do with Pat Casey’s job stability or performance. Shit balloons are 100% correct.
I am not happy that the competitive bats on our roster are not being utilized. And i am equally upset that our good arms are sidelined while lesser talents with “experience” are getting the nod.
Now is the time to run the frosh out there. If someone looks rusty in the field but has a live bat, then putting them in the field is the answer. I just don’t understand being overly conservative in college baseball.
This seems to be a good place to post a question I raised yesterday.

I don’t follow baseball that closely so this is just something I’m wondering about out of curiosity.
Is there any correlation between how well OSU baseball played and who the coaches were? In particular I’m wondering if losing Dan Spencer to Texas Tech was a bigger loss than we thought. He seems to have Texas Tech headed in the right direction. http://www.texastech.com/sports/m-basebl/mtt/spencer_dan00.html

Good point, BB, about the offense relaxing a bit. Sure would like to see Keyes break out.
I’d like to see him DH. He’s a poor fielder.
He is a poor fielder due to inconsistency. Has made some fine plays and some real head shaking failures.

Boyd coming in for Wilkerson who gave up 5 hits and 2 runs in 2+ innings. Casey doesn’t have much patience with his pitchers these days.
Boyd comes in for Wilkerson in the third, 6-2
Important K for Boyd, got to hold these guys to no more runs.
Surprised the runner on third held on Tom’s catch. Two outs now.
Bases loaded for Ryan Dunn and no outs. Need a ball in the gap to really bust the game open.
6-4 Beavs top 5th, bases loaded no out Dunn at bat. Can’t let this opportunity pass w/o a couple runs!
Bad time to get doubled up!
That was an ugly sequence.
Why is Gorton third in the lineup? He seems like he should be a late lineup guy (maybe 7?).
only game tracker on this one guys?
Yeah, I can’t believe that 1240 finally gets an internet stream and they block the baseball game.
Hayes gets his redemption a day late but I’ll take it.
Nice though, it gives us some breathing room because a three run lead can get wiped out pretty easily.
Barnes with a base clearing double. Now that’s the way to put some runs on the board! 13-4 Beavs
Wow. Big-ol inning. With our pitching, game still very much in doubt.

Most of the top 30 win today. LSU though loses the series to Appalachian St, losing today 11-1.
Anyone know anything about this Kansas State team?
They are from Kansas. The Little Apple.
Boyd 5 innings. This could be his transition to a starter…

Love to have his competitive attitude out there more, I’ll give you that. And you may be right, wouldn’t trust my memory.
Boyd has started two games in his career.

I doubt we see this.

They should just play virtual games on Gametracker. Think of the savings on travel alone!
Cole Brocker was the most impressive new guy I saw in SB. He can get lefties and righties out, so he could take over for Boyd as setup.
I have not been happy with Casey’s pitching rotation thus far.
If this is the best we got, then we’re screwed.
Now I feel I need to argue that Casey is no relation to anyone who lives in the White House in order to make some silly argument about his job status.
Heh heh
Shit balloons don’t like what I say. Shit balloons think that the White House has nothing to do with Pat Casey’s job stability or performance. Shit balloons are 100% correct.

bigotry will never die
Bigotry? That seems like a stretch.
And yet it’s not.

Jack, go back to sleep. You got up on the wrong side of the bed.
That’s it?
This seems to be a good place to post a question I raised yesterday.

Like I said, just wondering.
