  1. Tyler Smith goes to third on a 3 base throwing error by the third baseman to start this game. Comes home on Conforto's RBI ground out. 1-0 Beavers

  2. Two run single by Keyes. 6-3 Beavers. OSU is the first team to score 6 runs off Appel and score 5 ER off him this season

  3. JRod HBP, looked like his left hand.  Beavs have needed him all season, but especially lately as he has added the bat to his rifle arm.  Hope he can shake it off.

  4. Oregon baseball game vs Ohio St was rained out tonight and moved to tomorrow.  They'll have to finish 3 games in the next 2 days, then come home for a 2 game series vs Gonzaga on Tuesday and Wednesday.

That could help to deplete their bullpen for the Civil War series next week.  Beavs don't have any mid week games this week, so plenty of time to rest up after the Stanford series.

BTW- thanks for the game updates GoBeavs.

  5. Great job by the Beavs, they battled back after giving up 3 runs in the 4th.  Great effort by everyone in the lineup tonight.

  6. Nice win….all done without the Beav's two best hitters getting hits, Tyler Smith and Michael Conforto.  Here's to the Ducks sweeping Ohio State (reverse jinx ;) …)

    Geaux Beavs!

  7. I always relax a little when the Beavs win the first game of a series.  I figure worst case scenario they are not going to get swept and they have two chances to win the series.

    • Quacks might be going into extra innings against the Buckeyes.  I hope it goes 15 innings and blows through Duck pitching.

      • I've watched a lot of that game, game should probably already be over. Buckeyes have gotten hosed on quite a few calls

    • There seemed to be alot of chirping between the benches during the game.  Casey was upset at Stanford's manager for having players in the way as Peterson scored and had to go down to his knees after he crossed home plate.  some bad blood between these teams.  Beavs have won 11 0f 14 in Sunken Diamond.

  8. 8-2 Beavers after 7 innings. Nice job by Brandon Jackson coming in to end that potential rally by Stanford and keep the lead pretty comfortable for the Beavers.

  9. Gordon now 3 of 4 with a leadoff single in the 8th. He's been getting on base constantly as of late. That's big with who they have at the top of the order.

  10. It'll be interesting to learn the story behind the ejection of JRod.  Regardless, I see it as a good thing, Casey will handle it well and there is a good chance it will spark a surge of "us against the world" feelings.  JRod, as a leader on this team may have been the perfect guy to have involved.

Two concerns, How will JRod relate to ump(s) tomorrow and This team was already well focused – hopefully this isn't enough to get them too amped up to function well (doubt Casey'd let that happen).

    • Per new NCAA rules J-Rod will not be playing tomorrow.  Automatic one game suspension for arguing with an umpire.  Only the head coach is allowed to do so.

      Starting in 2013, all non-head

      coaching team personnel who are

ejected for disputing an umpire’s call

      will receive a one-game suspension

for the first ejection of the season

      and a three-game suspension for

      any subsequent ejections during the

      season (2-25).

      • Thanks, whiskey, I think I'd heard that but didn't remember.  So, my first concern is of no consequence Sunday, just something to watch on the 17th or whenever the Beavs face the same umpire.

Actually, having JRod suspended Sunday may give us an idea of the effect of the incident upon the rest of the team right away.  I see it as a positive motivator, as if this team needs motivation.  Maybe just added incentive to win.

The incident kman mentioned above where Peterson collided with the Stanford pitcher as he (the pitcher) attempted to back up the catcher is likely a similar motivator.  BTW, the Stanford announcers clearly felt that Peterson was at fault, saying that when he crossed the plate he was no longer an active participant in the play and should have deferred to the pitcher.  To me, it looked like the pitcher intentionally moved into Peterson.  The stream was, however, not entirely clear on that.

        • I didn't see any of the game today only listened to bits and pieces on the radio so I can't form an opinion on any of the matters that occured one way or another.  All I can say is Go Beavs and let's sweep those bitches Sunday!!!!!!

  11. OT: Recruiting updates:

They are hitting Texas hard, several offers.  They have lost out on TE who committed to Baylor and had us second.  They have offered RB Kendrick Igbinoba we are his first offer and Arkansas and Okie St are also looking to offer.

Even with a QB commit they are still after several other passers, including Tyler Hilinski and Brad Kaaya and Manny Wilkins and Morgan Mahalak

They have had an unofficial visit from Mountlake, WA LB Devante Downs and still in play with local Joey Alfieri LB.

  12. Two wild pitches result in the only run as ucks sweep TOSU today.

A secret to beating the ucks?…..eliminate WP's, HBP, and errors!

    • Never seen a team like them that relies on mistakes from the opposition to score runs. I think all that luck comes to an end next weekend

      • Amen!!
Not withstanding Sherfy’s talent, the only team that can beat the Beavs next weekend is the Beavs themselves.

  13. Runners at 2 and 3 for Conforto, no outs t5.  Beavs chanelling ucks get both runners on via HBP and advanced via WP.  Still 3-0.

  14. 3-6 DP ends the Stanford 6th, did anyone's stream show it?

As the 7th starts, Beavs have 5 runs, 2 hits; Stanford 2 runs 5 hits.

    • Wait a minute, Bryant was great on Friday. Even Casey said it's the best he's seen Bryant pitch. 2.2 innings, 6 Ks and only gave up one hit.

      • He was very good on Friday, but still at times struggled with his command here and there especially in the 7th on Friday night, but was able to settle down and throw strikes in the 8th and 9th. I didn't mean he wasn't great this series, meant his command of his pitches hadn't been great this weekend. Today was a different story. Had all kinds of trouble throwing strikes. Bryant has bounced back this season after having a rough go at it at times last year, but his command is a little up and down. Needs to throw more strikes.

  15. Danny Hayes with a huge mistake to throw home, doesn't get the runner and cost OSU an out. Can't make that kind of a mistake.

  16. 5-4-2 DP keeps Beavs up 5-4.  Of course, my stream failed at critical moment!!

Still need an out to finish the b8, runner on 1st.

    • Pretty huge play there, if Wilson doesn't break home, they probably have runners on the corners and 1 out. Mental mistakes by both teams on consecutive plays. Schultz gets out of it. 3 outs from a sweep

  17. Stanford throws a wild pitch on an intentional walk. That is bad. Now they've scrapped the idea of intentionally walking Conforto, opting for the unintentional intentional walk instead

  18. Now Davis will be intentionally walked. Stanford will likely bring in a lefty reliever to face Hayes with bases loaded

  19. Talk about disappointing!  DP ends the t9, score still 5-4.

Beavs offense non-existent today, hard to credit Stanford pitching since they've given up 5 WP's, 9 BB, 4 HBP!!!

    • Offense hasn't been very good but the Stanford defense also made some great catches to rob the Beavers of extra bases in the outfield. Just one of those days, but they took advantage of wildness from Stanford pitching

  20. Beavers win 5-4 and sweep the Cardinal. Beavers will take a 1 game lead over the Ducks into their series against Oregon this Friday
