after the weekend, OSU, UCLA, Stanford and UofO should all be tied for 3rd in pac at 8-5. Very important to win today. Civil War will be very important in a few weeks since ducks own the tiebreaker (what’s the next tie breaker if teams split a series? pts scored head to head?)
Beavs would win a tie breaker head to head against the Ducks by virtue of win over Arizona. Only thing that would derail that would be utah winning the conference and ducks beating them next weekend and Beavs losing to utah
Man, I like living is this age….i’ve got all kinds of shit going on with my computer. Watching the Beav hoops game, looking at the baseball live stats…logging on to Angry Beavs. Far cry from the AM radio days.
Clean up the glass also, too many USC second chances in the early going. Right now, USC doesn’t look as sharp as they did in the previous game. I like how the Beavs are playing if they can stay out of foul trouble, a couple of those fouls looked ticky-tack to me.
Duvivier has a wide open 3 and he travels, Gomis is open in the paint and he tries a crazy pass. Just shoot the damn ball! I know WT wants them to shoot it. i don’t get it.
Daniel Gomis has hands of stone. When he does anything positive on offense it’s a win for Oregon State. Duvivier is playing like crap today. Been stripped of the ball multiple times in transition and hesitant to shoot
Awful turnover from Duviver. He gives the team absolutely nothing on the road. Beavers should be up double digits. Missed free throws, turnovers and allowing offensive rebounds is keeping USC in the game
Boneheaded pass to Schaft with 5 seconds left may cost us the game. Intercepted by USC and a slam dunk at the buzzer that was a microsecond in time. Tinkle loses a little of his man card if Oregon State doesn’t win this today. Get the W guys!
Sorry, I don’t care if they have overachieved, they all have experience now. That was shit basketball on offense the last 3 or 4 minutes. They should be ahead by 8 or 10 pts, SC was trying to give them the game.
Olaf is just getting bullied out there. Lately he’s just been getting pushed around in the paint. He tried to foul and Jovanovic just went right through like he felt nothing
They may very well lose this game. Am I wrong in not understanding, why a clear out can’t be called for Payton instead of Duvivier if they want to do this work the play clock crap. Payton can just elevate over some players, right?
His 4th foul was pure bullshit and had me about ready to throw the tv thru the pac-12 office front window. Trojan player climbed over his back and they call a foul on Reid? Wtf???
Duvivier flat out can’t finish at the rim. He has solid athleticism but has no idea how to finish at the rim. Takes poor angles against bigger players and doesn’t have a good off hand.
He passes up open 3’s and tries a lot of double pump shit against bigs, the problem is he gets away with it one or two times a game because of his strength, but he fails to finish so many times that it’s not that great of a strategy.
Losing to a team with 1 Pac-12 win. RPI is shot. Even what should be gimme road wins are too much. Time to rewrite the contract with more emphasis on road wins.
Why not? Give him a chance at more money if road winning increases. Diminish home winning importance by 5% and increase road winning importance by 20%. Might help provide the incentive to turn poor showings like this into some more wins.
I don’t think Tinkle needs motivation to win on the road.
Unless you mean paying the players.
Tinkle has 5 or 6 players. You expect him to win on the road? You’re talking out of frustration. Reality is next year is Tinkle’s year. This year is all gravy.
Beavers really don’t have much of a shot at this with a walk-on having to log significant minutes. Beavers blew it in the first half by not opening up a big lead
How many fucking point blank shots has Duvivier missed today? And I don’t get why Cheikh has 0 minutes, SC is killing the Beavers on the boards. I know Cheikh isn’t much, but he just came off of one of his better games.
I remember the first game of the year I said Duvivier was a good driver yet wasn’t finishing. 24 games in it’s the same situation. He hasn’t improved at all with that. Pretty surprising. It looks like he gets anxious and constantly anticipates contact instead of just following through with the shot…give that man some xanax before the game.
I don’t quite buy it….many college teams only play 7, plus the Beavs pass it around on offense until there are 5 seconds on the shot clock. I can see mental fatigue maybe. They just aren’t very talented offensive players, it’s got to be tough to shoot brick after brick.
Agree they aren’t talented offensive players. Payton is probably the only guy who starts on every other Pac-12 team.
It’s probably a mix of both. But I think if they had an extra guy (e.g. Robbins) they’d have a couple more wins. That guy killed their season. Jack says the Beavs have talented players, for what that is worth. I think they have players who have bought into WT and play hard, but they are tired and not great offensive players.
Agreed, losing Robbins was a huge factor. They looked like a different team when they had him and he was averaging almost 20 points a game per 40 minutes of play, but there is a mental aspect to this on the road that shouldn’t be entirely fatigue. Oh well, I just want them to get 1 more win, so they are guaranteed a winning season.
I’ve said repeatedly that this team isn’t winning on the road, but so many of you said I was wrong and pointed to this game as a sure win. Well, how’d that turn out for you? This team is mediocre at best and is only winning in friendly confines. This should have been evident before Pac-12 play even kicked off.
I don’t know who said sure wins, but I’d never do that with a team that has 6 walk ons and 5 guys who wouldn’t start for any other team in the conference. I think people got caught up in the amazing season. It’s still amazing even if they win zero games from here.
What is a coach or team to do when they’re playing to their max and limited by talent and depth? Not much can be done. They’re still playing intense D and trying.
I’m not criticizing the team. They play hard and mostly to their abilities.
I’m trying to say that people on this board need to temper their expectations. Expecting road wins was a fools errand from the beginning. That’s how we get stupid comments on this board like “Tinkle’s contract needs to be reworked to include road wins.” I mean, really?
I took that comment to be sarcastic. I would also say that it is interesting/frustrating that they took their imprint on the road at Wazzu and were successful, but have not come close to duplicating it since then. Could be Angry’s fatigue theory.
I think it has something to do Schaftenaar’s play. I can’t figure out if he’s a head case or other coaches are strategizing better?
Olaf looks like he’s lost confidence. He didn’t do anything last weekend at home either. He’s hesitant and getting pushed around. Far from the confident player until mid-January. He’s not handling physical play and letting teams completely take him out of the game by bumping him and making him become completely passive. Limits what the team can do offensively.
The Beavers will win enough home games to make the NIT. That’s all I really wanted coming into the year and that was a best case scenario. Getting Victor Robbins back after today was gonna be a big lift until he screwed up again. Having Robbins for games like today are complete difference makers. Having a guy who can get you double digits off the bench makes a big difference. Tinkle is doing such a great job for what he actually has on this squad
It’s hard to win on the road (unless you are Arizona) when you are consistently playing 5 on 8. Case in point, Duvivier knocks the ball out of bounds at the USC end of the floor. Initial call is OSU ball. Later overturned and ball awarded to USC. Several plays later same thing happens on opposite end of the floor. Ball appeared to go out of bounds off USC but after conferring the refs award the ball to USC. Tinkle asks the refs to go look at the monitor as it happened right in front of him. Refs don’t even give coach the time of day and USC gets the ball. Jarmal Reid’s 4th foul wasn’t even a foul on him. it should have been a foul on the USC player climbing over his back. How many times did the beavs take the ball to the hoop and get mugged with no call? Opposite end of the floor? I normally don’t claim biased officiating but USC won today with plenty of help from the black and white stripes.
For an ace perimeter shooter, he’s just not very good, as he only hits 41% from the field–and he’s having his best year of his career this year. LMW and Duvivier both have frightful shooting percentages.
Get off the ledge, dudes. There’s a time and place for that. Basketball future is bright. There are some major obstacles this year…think some fans must have put the cart before the horse being so upset over these losses.
A lot of expectations changed with fans after the team beat Arizona. NCAA Tournament was never a realistic expectation with this team. They have maybe one above average player on the team in GPII. Everyone else is average or below average. Making the NIT with that is a sign of great coaching by Tinkle.
Personally, I’m just annoyed at this particular game. I think OSU has just as good of players as SC and a better coach. SC has no real home court advantage. I expected a “Wazzu like” road win. This is the first game all year where I didn’t like the effort or focus. I may be an asshole, but after 24 games I expected more against the last place team in the P-12.
Are you kidding?? We toys nobody. Especially since I took my leave of absence to deal with a “family issue”. My grandma will be back to normal gramms, & I’ll be back soon to bust a few buckets!!!
Hey, the THIN roster of playable guys was figured to get to us in the latter part of the conf season. It has. And the lack of real offensive firepower is a huge factor. Almost impossible to get on scoring runs. If the defense doesnt hamstring the opposing team, we have small chance of success. This team has really overachieved. Great heart and COACHING! Good season, all things considered.
Caught the last five minutes of the game and saw three layups get rejected by USC and the Mitten have at least two really bad turnovers. Was this the game in a nutshell? Our guys looked slower.
At least I saw some excellent hockey this weekend.
It was the 2nd half in a nutshell. The first half was good up until about 5 minutes left and they fell apart and it carried over big time. I’m kind of concerned that they don’t win another game.
I now predict one win rest of the regular season (Colorado). I originally said 10 of the last 13 were wins. That was before Robbins’ extended suspension and before our guys ran out of gas.
What about the new, proposed rule to make freshmen basketball players not eligible for varsity play? If instituted, that could fuck the Beavs next year too.
Ucla up 70-61 on the ducks with a minute left
after the weekend, OSU, UCLA, Stanford and UofO should all be tied for 3rd in pac at 8-5.
UCLA also has a Utah win, and still has yet to take a shot at Arizona. Really need AssU to take them down next week
They also have a utah loss and they aren’t beating Arizona either
I had a dream the other night that Oregon State was 17-8, so I’m going with they get the win today.
Go Beavs!
Extra day of rest will help. Beavs will get a W today
go Beavs. perfect opportunity to get the elusive pac 12 road win. Hope theyre not looking ahead to Utah next week.
HUGE MUST WIN FOR THE PROGRAM. BYE FOR VEGAS AND NIT LOCK!
JUST WIN BABY!
No Jordan McLaughlin for the prophylactics. Got sand in his va jay jay
those injury reports are getting more detailed every year
Ucla wins 72-63. A win by the Beavs today would put them back into a tie for 3rd
Man, I like living is this age….i’ve got all kinds of shit going on with my computer. Watching the Beav hoops game, looking at the baseball live stats…logging on to Angry Beavs. Far cry from the AM radio days.
Olaf showed up on offense today. Morris-Walker has hit a pair of 3’s already. Looking decent so far
A lot of USC buckets so far are off Beavers turnovers. Clean that up and USC is gonna struggle to score without their PG today
Clean up the glass also, too many USC second chances in the early going. Right now, USC doesn’t look as sharp as they did in the previous game. I like how the Beavs are playing if they can stay out of foul trouble, a couple of those fouls looked ticky-tack to me.
Every time the Beavs have an opportunity to extend the lead, they turn it over.
I was just going to type that. his offensive game is offensive. Did he even play basketball before he got to oregon st?
Hands of stone? Shh, don’t say that! Riley will poach him for tight end
GP0-2 FT there :-( stop that
Notice how his FT percentage is in free fall? i don’t know what to make of it. He’s down to 65% now.
that USC dunk did NOT get off before the time ran out, review please
Awful turnover from Duviver. He gives the team absolutely nothing on the road. Beavers should be up double digits. Missed free throws, turnovers and allowing offensive rebounds is keeping USC in the game
USC cheerleaders…hm.
This game is terribly sloppy
We’re so bad on a fastbreak.
Wow, for all the amazing achievements a home, this team unequivocally sucks on the road
Olaf is just getting bullied out there. Lately he’s just been getting pushed around in the paint. He tried to foul and Jovanovic just went right through like he felt nothing
That was a bullshit offensive foul call on him though.
Pac12 refs are so inconsistent.
They may very well lose this game. Am I wrong in not understanding, why a clear out can’t be called for Payton instead of Duvivier if they want to do this work the play clock crap. Payton can just elevate over some players, right?
Never trust your dreams, guys.
This game is getting out of hand in a hurry. Baseball wins in b10, 4-3
this is unreal
Reid with b2b fouls in about 10 sec and fouls out. Olaf with 4.

USC shooting 47%. LMW imitates Duvivier at the rim. Ugh.
Hello CBI, my old friend
Make a layup
Beavers really don’t have much of a shot at this with a walk-on having to log significant minutes. Beavers blew it in the first half by not opening up a big lead
Somehow the Beavs aren’t out of this game.
What is and what isn’t a foul changes almost every single possession
Basketball and soccer…
Glad it’s baseball season
Oh, you don’t think the strike zone doesn’t change from inning to inning in P12 games?
Duvivier turns it over and then commits a foul on an and 1. He’s been a dumpster fire today
So SC had lost 9 in a row, Lose their point guard and… Dumpster fire is right
Did Schaft foul out or is Tinkle saving him?
Make a layup…
Every single call has gone to USC
USC really isn’t even playing that good of defense today. The Beavers just can’t make layups and open jump shots
Which is a sign of fatigue. No surprise.
They’re in the game because of will.
It was the same thing against UCLA, these are not juggernaut defenses. I hope the freshmen are as advertised as shooters.
Stick a fork in it.
The team is out of gas.
“Out of gas”
That’s what I see.
I am not sure they will win another game this year. But great effort despite the fatigue issues.
I don’t quite buy it….many college teams only play 7, plus the Beavs pass it around on offense until there are 5 seconds on the shot clock. I can see mental fatigue maybe. They just aren’t very talented offensive players, it’s got to be tough to shoot brick after brick.
Beavs don’t really have 7.
Agree they aren’t talented offensive players. Payton is probably the only guy who starts on every other Pac-12 team.

They are out of gas. Since they can’t pump their own gas, they will remain out of gas.
When GPII has a bad game they can’t win. Not a surprise they’re down 11 and GP has struggled in the 2nd half
Schaftenaar is frustrating to watch.
Every time Duvivier handles the ball, passes or shoots my testicles suck up into my gut.
Sounded like the commentators got some inside info from the OSU coaches, they mentioned that Duvivier will be a two guard again next year.
Right there Payton had a passable three that he needs to take given the time in the game, but he tries to make a difficult pass instead.
Lack of depth, you can’t afford to have Reid foul out
Shit, LMW got knocked off of the ball and there was no call.
Back in the old days a player throwing a ball off the backboard for a dunk to his teammate would result in someone getting knocked to the deck
Telecaster is hilarious. “This hurts their NCAA chances”…lol.
Maybe he meant NIT.
what a stinker
I’ve said repeatedly that this team isn’t winning on the road, but so many of you said I was wrong and pointed to this game as a sure win. Well, how’d that turn out for you? This team is mediocre at best and is only winning in friendly confines. This should have been evident before Pac-12 play even kicked off.
how’d they manage to beat WSU on the road then Kreskin?

Thing is, USC really really is not good
And it’s not like they have any inherent home court advantage. That place was quiet today.
They said about 3300. We get bigger crowds for our ladywomenbeavs games
The Beavers will win enough home games to make the NIT. That’s all I really wanted coming into the year and that was a best case scenario. So true
and i will never say Olaf showed up to play that early in the game again. After I posted that he did not score another fucking point
Yup…2-7 shooting, and 0-4 from 3 pt. land.
For an ace perimeter shooter, he’s just not very good, as he only hits 41% from the field–and he’s having his best year of his career this year. LMW and Duvivier both have frightful shooting percentages.

Ok, I’m better now…on to my regular life!
I’d take USC’s roster in a heartbeat.
I’d take their cheerleaders, but to each his own.
Are you kidding?? We toys nobody. Especially since I took my leave of absence to deal with a “family issue”. My grandma will be back to normal gramms, & I’ll be back soon to bust a few buckets!!!

So James Pensyl has finally found a home. Eastern Michigan University? Guess that says a little about the types of kids Riley was recruiting for 2015.
I met that Pensyl kid on his trip or whatever. He a punk azzz POS anyways.
It would be poetic justice if Eastern Michigan played and beat Nebraska.
Is Cheikh N’Diaye injured? Didn’t he just have a decent outing? No playing time today at all?
Caught the last five minutes of the game and saw three layups get rejected by USC and the Mitten have at least two really bad turnovers. Was this the game in a nutshell? Our guys looked slower.

Come on Beavers make me wrong….
Still a much better than anticipated season!
Scorpions on the plane home?
It *was* a stinging defeat
What about the new, proposed rule to make freshmen basketball players not eligible for varsity play? If instituted, that could fuck the Beavs next year too.
that will never happen. the 1 and done kids will skip college all together and start playing overseas for a paycheck until theyre draft eligible
4284 at Gill for the gals, leading by 15 early 2nd. Churches empty in mid-valley.
Sorry, I forgot to make a thread. You guys can use this thread, or even the baseball thread.
Nevermind, it looks like the game is almost over and beavs are creaming them by 30.
