Anything goes, have at it.

Beavgopher — feel free to invite Nebraska fans to the thread. I’d love to hear their thoughts as that game moves along. I’m going 20-17 Nebraska, accounting for the -7 Riley factor!

  1. Our AB fantasy football draft is tomorrow. I’m going to send out an email now — respond to confirm, else I’ll look for a replacement.

Anyone interested if we do need a replacement? It’s a 10 team auction draft, ppr.

  2. Hahaha this telecaster just said Mike Riley has been successful at every level (even mentioned the NFL), then said Riley holds players accountable, and not to confuse his niceness with weakness. This is hilarious.

    • See it’s the fans’ fault we lost to Sac St. and EWU. We just didn’t expect enough!

I’m reminded of an earlier comment by someone about MR knowing he could get away with being mediocre so he strived to be nothing more (and therefore what an asshole)

    • it’s early yet. Hey BG, I responded to your last post in the post-game thread about anyone going to the Michigan game, just fyi. answer here if you like

  3. McDonough is the guy who trashed Dennis Erickson and the Beavs during the Fiesta Bowl broadcast vs. ND along with that ex-Husky Ed Cunningham so you can expect a lot of love going Riley’s way from him.

  4. Portland State only down three to the Cougs middle of third quarter, with the ball and driving. Getting Stanford at home I’m now seeing a six win season well within reach

    • you can tell the Anderson has made real point of Admin Penalties because in his post-game interview Villamin was talking about having made one, but it wasn’t, in fact, an ADMIN but garden variety. Coach has really hammered that home, which is a good thing

  5. McDonough on Langsdorf: came back to Riley so he could be “associated with a great program like Nebraska.” Lindsay couldn’t have said it better

  6. “Watching film tomorrow, the first thing the coaches will say to Tommy is “You can run, Tommy. You can run.”

    Not with Riley he can’t.

  7. Will the real Banker defense please stand up?

Pass Interference, on the defense, 15 yard penalty, automatic first down.

    There they are

      • I’m pretty sure Michigan’s a grass field still. I’m not sure rain is in our favor unless our O Line drastically improves. And if Michigan loads the box and forces us to throw, it could get ugly quick. I think us throwing the ball when we want is much more advantageous than having to throw because of down and distance.

Either way, this game will be a huge game in terms of learning for the Beavs. Being competitive will help bring in some more confidence to this young team. I think this should be a close game (barring a meltdown). So it could be a possible shocking victory for us but the pressure is all on Michigan to win. How we respond to this game (win or lose) will be paramount to the results of the rest of the season IMO.

        Go Beavs!

  8. The Pac-12 is off to a terrible week one.

Arizona only beats Texas – San Antonio by 10.

    Stanford losing to Northwestern.

Colorado losing to Hawaii, and WSU potentially losing to PSU. At least I can feel better about the odds of beating WSU and Colorado.

  9. and folks here thought the Reser crowd was lame last night? the stadium in Pullman may have 10-15,000 people in it. and there the students ARE already on campus

  10. Falk ties it for the Cougs, but it’s astonishing to see him struggling to put up points on the Vikes when he walked all over the Beavs last year, in Corvallis no less. But then, the PSU team is lined up and ready to play at the snap, unlike a Banker D.

  11. Riley & Co. remind me of my attempts at running. starting out strong with lofty goals, then winding up panting and on the verge of vomiting on the side of the road.

  12. Vikings on verge of taking the lead, 4 minutes left. Based on opening week play Beavs look like they are no worse than the 3rd best team in the Pac North

  13. Classic Riley, fumble on a simple exchange leads to points for BYU. I’m wondering if the Nebraskan fans are realizing they made a mistake in their recent coaching hire?

  14. Once the deal with DirecTV somehow fell through for the Pac-12 it has been a downhill slide. Millions more per school would have been a big deal and the conference would have been riding a high. Instead a poor start. Embarrassing loss for the Cougs but a nice victory for my other alma mater in PSU. Colorado still stinks and their Mac might not survive a 2 or 3 win season. Don’t think they do any better than 3 wins. Huskies have a couple skill players but bad loss for them too. Oregon State is in good bowl situation with 6 wins. Other teams like UW and WSU may not get there.

    • based on an objective assessment of play the only teams that one can posit being better than the Beavs in the north are the one’s that haven’t played yet.

  15. I predict at Halftime Shanw Eichorst picks up the phone to call DeCarolis at halftime with buyers remorse and asking for a refund.

BDC’s phone………………..We’re sorry, but the number you are trying to reach has been disconnected or is no longer in service

    #poorbastards

      • Right. The strange thing is for someone that is supposedly so well respected it’s hysterical to hear announcers seem so surprised by Riley idiocy. How do they have ‘so much respect’ for someone they have never seen or paid attention too? Do they just read fat Lindsey talking points? Because while the announcers watch the game, they see and say the same things we’ve been saying for years.

  16. Let’s re-evaluate this schedule:

    9/4 vs. Weber State W 26 – 7
9/12 at Michigan 9:00 PT -Tough probably a loss
9/19 vs. San Jose State 5:00 PT-Close game but a win
9/25 vs. 21 Stanford 7:00 PT-very tight game winnable but I say Loss
10/10 at 22 Arizona TBA- Loss
10/17 at Washington State TBA- Tight game Win
    10/24 vs. Colorado TBA-Win
    10/31 at Utah TBA-Loss
    11/7 vs. 13 UCLA TBA-Tight game Win
    11/14 at California TBA-Loss
    11/21 vs. Washington TBA-Win
    11/27 at 7 Oregon 12:30 PT-???

6 wins is very possible at this point. With this coaching staff, more is definitely not out of the question! This is a good season for the PAC 12 to be “down”!

    Go Beavs!

    • I think UCLA is at least as good as Utah. Rosen isn’t going to win games for them, but their O-line is solid and they have a stout defense.

      • Rosen is fucking outstanding.. I’m guessing you posted this before seeing him play? I was impressed by this guy.. He’s scary good already

        • I did post it before seeing Rosen play but “overrated” is not saying they’re not good, they’re just not the #13 team in the country. Rosen played well against a very (and I’m being nice here) average Virginia team. The defense played better than I expected and Perkins is really good. I just don’t believe Rosen can bring this team to be #13 or better in the country. that’s all.

          Go Beavs!

  17. Armstrong be taking 10 yard sacks like Mannion. One third of that fan base is going to turn on Riley tonight.

At OSU it appears 2016 could be pretty good and by 2017 Andersen’s Beavs could be a very serious threat to contend for the Pac-12 North crown. I think that Louisville back who visited and other recruits need to take a strong look at joining what has indications of a program headed the right direction to make some real noise. WSU and UW fans both could be looking for new coaches by then.

OSU’s situation will be among the better ones in the North in the next couple years. Coaches need to start selling that now cause with a few more quality pieces and strengthening the running attack and O line play, Andersen will no doubt have the Beavers relevant and trending higher soon. Seth if he stays healthy and this team have real potential.

  18. So far everything playing out as expected, including the interview going to locker room at half where he blames the kids.

    #thanksnebraska

      • I can’t remember exactly but something to the effect of it was poor communication by the players and the penalties are why they were behind. All said with stupid smirk.

By contrast GA going to half ahead btw was not happy said we need to clean things up and the offense was unacceptable not pointing to a play or player or penalty.

  19. “1. Our coaches can only do so much in fall practice. Give them time.”

    haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhahah

  20. Nebraska 37 yards rushing first half. It only took 2 quarters of play and Riley has trashed the school’s reputation as a ground game power house. Isn’t that what got Callahan in trouble?

  21. Coug gets blocked into punter and nebbie fan goes apeshit thinking there should be a penalty, do they know anything about football? It may explain why they thought MR was a good hire.

  22. 4th and 1(on your side at the 45 or so) and you try a rollout with a pocket passer? WTF was that? Then he throws up a miracle and it’s complete (thank god Banker’s the D coordinator). Is BYU trying to lose here?

    Go Beavs!

  23. Kansas becomes 3rd Power 5 team to lose to FCS, do they not count Michigan losing to App St or Va Tech losing to Coastal Carolina because it wasn’t Power 5 then?

  24. Kansas loses to South Dakota St. Joins OSU and Iowa St as the only teams to lose twice to an FCS opponent since 2010. Welcome to the club boys lol

  25. OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG

  26. With receivers that are 6’5″ and 6’6″ etc, run them downfield and tell ’em to “rebound the football” (highest point) and take the ball away. We have a couple of those guys on this team :).

    Go Beavs!

  27. RILEY LOSES THEM THE GAME!!!! STUPID TIMEOUT! ACTING SCARED WHEN THERE IS ZERO REASON FOR IT.

If I was the Nebraska AD I would cut my losses tomorrow and end much more heartache. Losing that way means HALF the fanbase at least will be pissed at Riley.

So glad we aren’t forced to take another 7+ years of that being stuffed down our throats as competent administration of a football program.

    THANK YOU NEBRASKA!!!

  28. I was originally going to play a 3 team parlay with:

    Virginia +18 @ ucla
    Temple +6 vs. Penn State
    Byu +5 @Nebraska

Then I thought to myself self… You know dam well a Riley led team is not going to be ready to play the opening week of the season. Screw the parlay and put 100 on Byu and call it day.

Paid off as Virginia pushed with UCLA

  29. RILEY LOSES NEBRASKA THE GAME!!! WHAT A STUPID TIMEOUT! BEING SCARED WHEN THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO REASON FOR IT.

If I’m the Nebraska AD I cut my losses tomorrow morning and save the fan base much more heartache and the slide into a loser’s mentality.

OSU is so fortunate to not have to be force fed Biley at the helm for another 7+ years.

    THANK YOU NEBRASKA!!!

  30. That loud noise you are hearing are all of the Nebraska fans pulling their covered wagons to the nearest cliff for the next heaven’s gate mass suicide

  31. Well, we didnt have long to wait for Riley & Co to show Huskernation what they are all about.!!!

    Godaaaamn!!! LMFAO!!!!

    A MILLION THANKS, NEBRASKA!!!!!!!

  32. Husker fan wanted to hate on us for fair warning, sour grapes says they… 30 years of opening season wins wiped out in one year/one game of Bike Smiley. Sour grapes indeed.

  33. Ross Day
    @rday22

Husker nation, welcome to our hell. Bad play calling, crappy clock management, terrible D-Coordinator. Sincerely, Beaver nation #Huskers

He left out poor special teams play

  34. They’re advertising “The Southeastern Conference Academic Initiative”

So it sounds like they might finally initiate some academics down there? Nah, why start now

  35. It’s truly incredible how psychologically liberating it can be to see all the mistakes of the past (the bad plays, the hand jives, the terrible use of time-outs) being played out on another team and knowing that you are never going to see it being played out on your favorite team ever again.

Have we given thought about sending Sean Eichorst an angrybeavs thank-you card? Maybe we could all chip in and get him a $50 gift card to Olive Garden.

    • I like the poster who says “next week is South Alabama” almost as a “God I hope so confirmation”because he couldn’t live through another game like today.

It was so clear from day one that Riley was a bad fit for NU. This will be Callahan part two. I can’t believe Husker fans can’t see that yet.

    • “Gerry said there were no halftime adjustments.”

and water is wet? Shit anyone here could have told you that ahead of time

  36. angry says:

If anyone can break this 30 game opening day winning streak it’s Riley.

    Good call Angry

  37. so, the official tally is in; this thread has more posts (and still counting) than the Beavs vs. Weber.
has anyone found a link to Riley’s post-game press conference? I’d love to see that.

          • He’s been deteriorating for years. This is the same post game he’s given fat Lindsey et al since what 2009?

Starting with the stupid smirk, the stammering, “we’ll get it fixed,” “we have a good group,” the staring at his feet…

This is EXACTLY why we all would get so frustrated after a tough loss, especially after loses to fcs teams it was hard to watch.

He should have nutted up and retired when he had a chance. His legacy will be that of the guy that didn’t know when to walk away. He’s a selfish prick.

          • He is definitlely a prick for the reasons y’all are saying. But when folks are tossing millions at ya, I am sure its a hard thing to process. Whether its dememtia or just loss of competitive energy, he started a downhill slide but the millions kept coming….so he kept going…. Manning up got harder and harder, I bet.

There was a bit on his coaching career during that BYU game and someone should have noted that he wasnt really all that successful, all the stints he had, except for a string of years after he came back to OSU. And even that was studded with occasional strangeness.

What is amazing in all that is how the GOOD GUY/FAMILY image kept carrying him onward.

Dont see how it can end well … ….oh, wait! Yeah… he finally flops and writes a book on it….! (the cover features that shit eating grin…)

        • That was my thought……how did he pass an interview or was he even interviewed for the job? If I didn’t follow him or know anything about him, I would seriously think he had a stroke and was recovering from it.

          • I kind of feel bad for him. Once it’s generally accepted that HE was the problem at OSU, I’ll wish him well at Nebraska (though, he will likely be failing for that to happen). Too bad he doesn’t just admit he coasted for years. If he admitted he coasted and milked OSU and they could do much better than him, I’d root for him.

          • first it must be said that Angry was right about this (as he is 99% of the time) :) when he suggested that there was something “off” about Riley.

And his post just above is equally insightful because I was wondering all day just why I wanted BYU to win so badly and it’s because until it is generally conceded (by Parker, Goe, Schnell, etc) that Riley was the problem, not Corvallis, or the university, or the airport, or the facilities, or the resources, or the lack of tradition, or, or, or … as a fan of OSU you can’t root for the guy

          • “Well i think….like i said…when you look at …what we would like we did better but we’d like to more consistently throughout the game be better with our tail back running game”

            DUDE

            WHAT

      • Jesus Christ. He is so defeated and has been for a long time. Put him on suicide watch, his press conferences throughout the years are getting more and more depressing. This man single-handily destroys programs.

        • I suggested dementia to Gina Mizell and she went postal … like — a relative of hers had dementia and so its a horrible thing to suggest … or something like that. So I’m now a bad guy to her….

But something is definately wrong with our ….oops! … THEIR … Riley. God I feel good its THEIR fucking Riley now….

          • It’s not really a horrible thing to suggest, it affects millions of people and Riley could easily be one of them. Everyone is noticing there’s a problem with his speeches and how incomprehensible he sounds during interviews. Could be nervousness or it could be something worse idk. Guess it just touched a nerve or something and she got irrational which sucks

          • I said “stroke” sarcastically, he is definitely “stammerish”, but I think it’s just him being nervous, I think he does understand that expectations just increased tenfold with this job and it’s probably a little unsettling to him to have this worst case scenario start to the season no matter how long he’s been coaching.

My Mom has mild to moderate dementia and one thing I notice is she doesn’t understand some questions you ask at all and then she tries to cover it up in her own way. Riley understands the questions that are being asked.

I remember watching singer Glen Campbell on the TV being interviewed a few years back after my Mom had been diagnosed and I said to my wife, he has dementia, I wonder if it’s been diagnosed? You could see it on his face, he couldn’t follow all the details in the questions. Riley is not exhibiting that type of behavior.

  38. Looks like Mullaney is getting a lot of snaps for Bama, is he a starter? Remember, Riley didn’t have anything to work with according to Ken Goe.

  39. Funny exchange on a husker board right before the losing hail mary play.

“DAMN IT, play your normal defense like you were Banker. This patty cake BS sucks ass. Prevent defense only prevents you from winning.”

Doesn’t this sound all tpo familiar with old Riley?

  40. Surprised I just noticed this but when ASU fans and cheerleaders make that pitchfork with their hands, it looks the shocker

    • I would say starting at the top of this message board and reading the comments through the Nebraska game will be more fun than any games going on today.

    • Oregon’s defense has been quietly terrible since last year. They would’ve lost to Washington State last year had it not been for Mariota’s heroics, and the defense got completely annihilated by Ohio State in the championship game.

You can pretty much run all over them, and I hope that’s what Andersen does in Eugene this year.

  41. The PAC 12 is not going to be very good this season! I find it amazing that EWU basically has a third string QB that can replace Adams leaving but the Ducks have nobody (that they’re confident with) to replace MM. What a joke!

    Go Beavs!

      • *FACEPALM*

You sound like EWUs head coach lol. They recruited Mariota (He won the Heisman is that good or nah?) and until just this year they’ve been playing with their own recruits at QB. And it’s not that they weren’t confident in the replacements it’s that Vernon Adams is really good. He put up 400+ TDs on FBS schools with an FCS supporting cast.

          • I think his question was more like this,

their last 3 qb’s have been Dennis Dixon, The guy who picked his nose in the national championship game against Auburn (sorry but his name escapes me and I’m lazy), then Mariota. The question was why did they need to go get Vernon Adams when they’ve done so well recruiting mobile qb’s?

Honestly, I think Adams is pretty good. But we’ll see how he does on a week to week basis against D1 defenses. I don’t think he’s big enough to hold up and winds up injured. Kinda like Seth Collins.

          • I guess I can see that. I read it as him wondering why they’ve had so much trouble in the past not just this last year which I thought was a dumb question since I can’t even remember the last time the quacks had a bad QB. Shit even the nose picker put up good stats and took em to a natty.

No matter what was meant, many teams wanted Adams regardless of their QB situations. I even remember people wanting the EWU coach to take over at OSU just so Adams would come with him.

          • How is it a dumb question? I’m asking why they didn’t have any good options already on the roster to replace Mariota.

They had to rely on a transfer student to replace Mariota. They should have had a young recruit ready to replace him in my opinion. Seems inexcusable considering how good they’ve been that they wouldn’t have anyone on the roster already.

Jeff Locke does not seem that good. He would be the starter if not for Adams, correct?

If I’m mistaken, you can inform me in a less asshole manner, I was asking a question because I don’t follow the Ducks recruiting.

          • Alabama has 2 national titles in the last 5 years and their starting QB is a transfer. Florida State won a national title and their starting QB is a transfer. It’s not inexcusable to do this anymore. It’s college free agency and it’s the way big programs are making sure they contend for a title every year.

          • I think if the Ducks were actively going after an experienced graduate transfer QB it shows a lack of confidence that Lockie could get the job done, so what were they going to do if they couldn’t find anyone (remember there were a few Golson rumors going around also)? It’s only one game, but Adams is no Mariota, but he’s probably a lot better than Lockie. So what are they going to do next year, same situation or does Lockie get bumped by one of the ‘superstar” underclassmen? Until defenses stop Freeman, you don’t need a running QB anyway.

          • And when you only have to play one FBS team a year (and those teams you play aren’t that great) putting 400+ yards isn’t a super feat my friend, sorry!

            Go Beavs!

        • Huh?! How often does an FBS team recruit an FCS QB, have him come in after Fall Camp has started, talk about a “dual QB competition” and then a week later, the FCS transfer is the starter? Are you serious? Just look at any team in America basically that has lost a QB or two (in some cases). They bring in the guys that they recruited and in most cases, those guys are serviceable. Am I missing something here???

          Go Beavs!

          • You are missing a lot of things but I don’t feel like trying to have a logical discussion about football with someone who think Wazzu is going to beat UO this year.

  42. So a friend of mine posts a pic on Facebook of her and her son at the game at Autzen stadium. Her son is a duck fan. So I post a joke to the pic

What is the difference between Autzen stadium and a porcupine?

A: a porcupine has the pricks on the outside.

A duck friend of hers then replies “I don’t get it”

I wish I could say I’m shocked lol

That one is pretty good lol

    • “There was no reason for the Cougars to get completely gashed on defense. The new look on that side of the ball appears to be a dumpster fire that takes half an hour to get roaring.”

      LOLOLOL

  43. OT: Hey Jack, got any idea how to get my Gravatar working on my new AngryBeavs registered account so it shows up like my old email account? I asked angry, but he told me to ask you lol.

    • I’m not understanding… maybe. I think we had a problem like this in reverse with someone.

I think it has to do with logging out of gravatar. It will time you out after a while, and your gravatar will start showing up. You’re waiting for your gravatar page’s cache to clear, which happens when you log out. No biggie. Just don’t go back to there and not log out. That resets the timer.

      • So, what you’re saying is to log out of Gravatar, wait for some time, and then log back in again so my avatar will show up (instead of that…bunny thing that’s currently my avatar)? Alright, I’ll try that. Thanks!

        • I’m not quite sure with that place. I honestly have not been there since Jeff Perry trolled me with his nasty nasty shit. Jeff Perry is nasty for even imagining that shit. And yes, I’m talking about JP the Beaver… or whatever he goes by now that he’s hiding himself here. Dude is scum.

I know you read this and do whatever JP. You are the scum that I don’t allow my children to come near when I see you in public. I hope you’re happy with that. You more than earned it.

  44. Football is all about matchups. I’m going to talk a bit about Oregon here! There are several teams that I feel match up well with Oregon this season. One of them has seemed to play them tight, every season in recent years, and even if they did lose to PSU today they still have a chance against Oregon (that’s WSU…duh!). Personally, I think Oregon loses at least 3 games this season. MSU for sure ASU, WSU (their good match up), Cal, Stanford and USC are just a few teams that I think will possibly beat the Ducks. Yes, they may lose more than 3 games guys! Obviously teams that spread them out and throw the football are going to have success this season (per EWU). But then you add in a PAC 12 defense with that and Oregon looks pretty average, comparatively to the past. I say at least 3 losses and WSU or Cal will be at least one of those (if not 2). We, however, may still be a year away.

    Go Beavs!

    • That is what is so infuriating about that ass-hat Leach: he faceplants against weak competition then rallies against a few big conference opponents. Makes the whole conference look like shit. Kind of reminds me of Riley in that respect.

I get what you’re saying. I think Cal poses the same danger and likely has a little better defense this year.

I think the Ducks come back down to earth this year. They have a terrible DC and mediocre OC and HC. Stanford is showing the effects of the Harbaugh glow wearing off. I think the Ducks might do the same post Kelly.

      • I know the main guys on the staff (Ducks) and they’re good guys and coaches but they’re not great or elite coaches. Radclife (their strength and conditioning coach) is an elite guy though (really knows his shit and is a big reason for their success). I think you’re right Jim. I think the Ferrari is breaking down a bit and it’s time to find a new car. I don’t see Helfrich starting something again like Kelly did. It’s going to be really fun to watch all the bandwagon fans freak out when they lose 3 games or so. Ha ha. What a joke!

        Go Beavs!

    • It’s still a young season. Rosen looked good in his first game. Never count out RichRod. Utah is just due for another undefeated season right about now. And Nikegon can still just try and outscore everyone. Their offense is a machine. It’s not as well oiled as it has been. But it’s a plug and play system. As Chip’s guys leave the program the machine will start to find it hard to find replacements.

And don’t count out Sonny Dykes. That guy scared me when he was first hired. His first season at Cal only made everyone get lazy about the Cal narrative. Those guys got a new stadium and a coach who does not lose.

  45. Angry pirate post game presser. It’s pretty anti climactic FYI. I don’t know if it was Leach’s response but around the 5:20 mark you can hear the reporter recording it snicker under his breath. I also thought Leach was going to lose his shit when another reporter asked him about his job security after losing to an FCS team, but alas. He also replied with “next question” when asked if Luke Falk was taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure. I think that one annoyed him

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yKLJ2RGrOqc

  46. The whole state of Nebraska is in free fall. I was reading a game article on the Omaha paper and there’s an idiot in the comments section arguing that the BYU receiver’s hip landed before the goal line and the TD should not have counted. I hope the “coaching buddies” have their San Antonio retirement compound ready to go, they may need it sooner than they anticipate.

    • Denial. not just a river in Egypt. Sorry Husker fan, that was absolutely a touchdown. Get over it. You lost. Mike Riley is your coach. We don’t feel sorry for you. You poor bastards

    • I didn’t know they reinstated the blocked PAT for two thingy. I still wonder if they have done so.

But let’s say they did. And bear in mind I haven’t seen any clips from this game and probably won’t since it’s USC and not worth my time… or my toenail’s time… any one of them. If the blocked (or otherwise) kick went beyond the LOS and hit the ground it cannot be returned. That’s about it. if it bounces in the backfield first it’s a free ball.

  47. well after 1 week only Cal and USC dominated as they should. Didn’t include the ducks because their defense looked awful giving up 42 points and 550 yards to EWU in spite of what their offense did.

    1. USC
    2. Cal
    3. Oregon
    4. UCLA
    5. Utah
    6. Arizona
    7. Arizona St
    8. Beavs
    9. Washington
    10. Stanford
    11. Colorado
    12. WSU

    Agree, disagree or flame away

    • I can understand the thinking UW is better than UA since they lost by 3 on the road to a ranked opponent. The huskies looked to have a pretty stout defense. But much like OSU if the offense can’t generate points or sustain drives, the defense will tire. WSU lost at home to an FCS opponent while the Buffs lost on the road in Hawaii. I disagree with WSU being better than CU. And if Luke Falk is hurt and misses significant time, WSU will stay in the basement

        • That’s not a fair take. Nikegon’s pass D sucks major eggs. If they face a decent run O, they’re toast. Wazzu does nothing but pass. They will probably roll on O against the Ducks. Stopping the O system that is Nikegon is the hitch. Their Heisman winner can be duplicated with a 5’6″ QB that couldn’t win everything at the FCS level. Their O is the machine. So what if their D sucks? You have to score 50 to beat them right now. Some teams will do so. We won’t.

  48. Pretty amazing that we all here were vindicated in our assessment of Riley in the FIRST game of the Husker season…. The only bad thought I have is about all the dough he will make when they buy out his contract. He heads for retirement and the bank, that shit eating grin pasted on his face….

Oh, well….. bright side — HE IS GONE!

    • Pretty amazing that we all here were vindicated in our assessment of Riley in the FIRST game of the Husker season…

I was telling Nebraska fans about the staff on their board, and they got so mad at me they banned me. I predicted 7 wins, 8 best case and gave reasons why, and they went nuts. A couple other guys from AB were over there warning them, too. They blew us all off and convinced themselves Riley was the answer. I said to them, you’re just doing that because you need to have hope, and they said no, that Riley was a great coach, and it was amazing what he did at lowly OSU. I said alright, sounds like you guys need to see it to believe it, and now they’ve seen it. Some of them still can’t believe it. The mind is a bitch.

Also, I see we have had two “Air Collins” and “AirCollins” sign up for the site. Pretty hilarious. Can’t wait until he posts.

  49. Nebraska are a buncha grand beedes and Riley is an ol’ papere, but they still want to make him into a parran. What a buncha couyon hogwash. He’s got the gumbo now he has to put on his little sun bonnet and fais do-do.

Ov’r and out, from the swamp.

    • I caught a snippet of this on some sports channel earlier today and thought the same thing. No “coach speak”, he knows his shit and is enthusiastic/articulate about it.

  50. This to me is like the Brady Bunch when they go to Hawaii and are cursed by the tiki. Mike Reilly was our tiki. We were able to get the curse in Corvallis lifted by sending it to Nebraska. Today’s game solidified that it’s not the lack of recruiting to Corvallis, but, the incredible mediocrity that was the 3 stooges. Reilly, Langdorf, and banker. Each one failed today by showing everything that is wrong. That coaching staff is gone now, let the rise of beaver nation begin! Let them be 3 and 9! The curse is lifted, thanks BYU, for showing the world that mike Reilly can ruin any program, even on day one!

    • Pretty sure this is one of those aimed at me and missing the target wide somewhere.

I feel like you think you think you hate. I am not the anemone. I can be nasty if you want. But that does nobody any good.

  51. This halftime show sucks……..or does it blow?

  52. Hahahahah!
Caught the last couple plays of MIke’s debut at a buddy’s house. Instant classic!
Let my bro stew for a few hours before texting “told ya.”

  53. I’m so pissed!!

Frauds like Leach and Biley scam millions out their respective university’s and I was paid $79,500 to take crap and get canned by a bunch of Corvallis based AARP doofusses! Life is so unfair! JB

    • No.

We couldn’t get anyone to hear us when we had the dude here… and a fashion/donut maven as our beat writer.

I feel like I should pick on Kerry Eggers for not being objective. But that’s all he was even if he was the dude’s best friend. The rest bothered to insert themselves in the conversation, from Ted Miller to Cliff. Although, Cliff was/is low hanging fruit. He may have a different perspective after spending a year in an armpit.

        • I would immediately forgive Cliff if he wrote a piece about being so very wrong… in just about every tone and perspective he wrote before he went to hell. And the he waved buh-bye as he left for hell as if he was going to heaven.

Now that he’s back, I see him retweet Horowitz articles. Give me a mea culpa and get on with reality Cliff. You deserve it.

      • At least Eggers was able to give us more information, hence more insight into Riley than the others. I guess Cliff couldn’t risk his access, so he had to stay vanilla boring until the end. Not much to hang your journalistic hat on during his Corvallis tenure, but Cliff plays in the minor leagues anyway.

Don’t know why anyone would give you a neg over that comment, it was spot on. I just took it back to neutral.

  54. To me the thing that’s interesting is that it’s not going to take much for “Biley” to be a failure at Nebraska, a lot of the fan base still expects to be in national championship discussions EVERY SEASON. One loss you’re almost done (mission accomplished in 3 plus hours), two losses and it’s season over Johnny! Coaches with 9 and 10 win seasons get fired at Nebraska. MR may say he understands it, but does he really understand it? My conspiracy theory, is that he’s crazy like a fox, this is a retirement package for him and the boys.

  55. I wonder if Riley really believed the bullshit all along about him being a great coach and Corvallis being the problem, and he thought coming to Nebraska and having “real athletes and facilities” would somehow change his obvious ineptitude.

Now he could be coming to the realization that the problem is that he and his cronies suck shit, and his new job comes with a rabid fan base and high expectations. He certainly has that deer in the headlights look about him, not that that’s anything new.

    • It wouldn’t surprise me if those were his thoughts coming to Nebraska. Given what we’ve seen, his brain is certainly scrambled and I could easily see him thinking that. The fact he didn’t retire from OSU, he went on to something “bigger and better” indicates that he really did think he was the man for the job.

It’s easy to make excuses for yourself until the problem is staring at you right in the face, and I’m guessing that’s where the “deer in headlights” look is coming from right now. Dude should have retired 3 years ago, end of story. Instead, some weird mix of ego and denial is driving him onward until the wheels come all the way off.
