They had the same amount of carries. But I don’t have any issue playing Brown. Just saying, it’s not like he was all world compared to Storm last week. Woods actually outran him last week
24 points on offense and a harassing OSU D is enough for the W. Go get em Seth. Some slants, a few deep looks, Brown making the most of the start and Mageo and the D getting after it.
I like how I go to the ESPN360 site to open the game, and it says Oregon State vs Michigan, but shows a picture of Oregon vs Mich State with the link.
bastards…
That was a very surprising drive. I feel like they definitely saw some weaknesses in film this week. Let’s hope that Harbie pulls a Riley and makes no adjustments.
A Riley team would still be on their 4th play. This tempo is just such a breathe of fresh air. Great drive, although that pass to Villamin was a pick waiting to happen. Glad he’s tall!
We’re starting a lot of guys on defense I’ve never heard of. Solid stop, but it’s pretty disappointing that we could be up 14-0 if not for Mr. Anti Clutch.
Luckily this team doesn’t look nearly as scary as Harbaugh’s Stanford teams.
If OSU could have gone up 14-0 Michigan fans and the country would have been stunned. This game has the makings of a street brawl. A Seth scramble or two and get Lucas a look also. We didn’t burn his redshirt for nothing.
Yes, read he was in for a play or two vs Weber although you wouldn’t know it. I suspect it will be a somewhat wasted year if he only gets a look or two come Pac-12 conference play. Not sure he will have a catch today.
Nah, beavs are the faster team…keep punching, keep m off balance…score quickly again…get another possession. They can start to make m doubt themselves…
Actually it’s Chris Spielman and he played at Ohio State… I heard that comment and I think he meant that play hadn’t been around since he played in the big house…
Beavs holding there own so far. D has looked pretty good. Despite Villamin’s decision on that 4th down screen, I liked the play call and it was open. I’d go back to that one again at some point
Three captain obvious observations:
1-Mageo is for real, angry do you believe?
2.Rudolph poor passing again hurts MI
3-the hurdle is simply part of Seth, hard to change.
Let’s see some McMaryion.
Don’t like the idea of Collins playing from behind. They’re going to put 11 in the box now (lol) and force him to complete a pass
Good to see GA pissed on that penalty, imagine that, an engaged head coach. Those type of mental errors are killers, don’t think he will let that shit slide
long drive there. Defense got worn down. Offense needs to pick it up on this drive before the half. Huge swing point right here. If Mich gets the ball back and scores again before halftime then gets the ball to start the 2nd half? Yikes
stupid penalties by Caleb Smith continues. ugh penalties are catching up with us way too many. Come on GA you keep talking about it, but we are not seeing improvement…
Is there a Beaver player in recent memory who, based on physical potential and a role/opportunity, has underwhelmed as much as Smith has during his time at OSU?
What the hell did Smith do for an administrative penalty? Cut that shit out Beavs. Don’t beat yourself. Shouldn’t have more than 5 penalties in any game.
Not a lot of big blitzes or stacked boxes yet. You’d think we’d want to focus on the run and make their very mediocre QB beat us, but instead we’re playing back and dropping like 6 into coverage.
The ball was hot and behind his head. He had to twist behind and get his hands up at the same time. That’s way too much to ask of any receiver. In fact, we’re lucky it didn’t bounce off his helmet and get picked.
To be fair, MM did the same to Villamin on his first pass… high and behind. But it looked like Michigan had someone over the top, and that’s the only place he could have put it. The difference was a 6.5′ v. a 5.5′ WR… and the ball bouncing off his ribs. Still not a good pass.
Ewwww. What just happened to our offense? Our running game has disappeared, for starters. And the “Collins run 80% of the time, throw to Villamin/Bolden the other 20%” distribution is not a winning strategy.
Michigan gets the ball, too. And we stopped blitzing the QB, and their power run game is working. Basically, Beavs need a gift turnover…something big to change momentum.
MI did not win this game, Beavs just handed it to them in typical Riley fashion. I think these players still have a ton of Riley in them, despite what they may say. Actions > words
We shouldn’t be blaming Riley, but it’s tough when you see things that look reminiscent of Riley coached teams.
Time to stop posting so we don’t say more stupid things in the heat of the moment. I think, in the final analysis, the first half came down to leaving points on the board on offense. The Bolden and Villamin plays stand out as even bigger than the punt b/c they would have completely silenced the crowd, and who knows if we even get to that punt situation if those guys make the right plays.
I agree and understand that its takes time to change an large group/organizational culture, but what really disappointed me was the conservative D and the conservative call on 4 and 3.
Andersen preached aggressiveness since he got here; in each individual player’s approach to life, and the team’s approach to the game. He’s not adhering to his own supposed organizational culture.
And Bolden; bench him. “Players make plays…” or they don’t, and they don’t play. Again, inconsistency.
He said so, and I agree. But inherent in accepting that is that every one of our players is a frosh. Erasing the Riley/Banker mentality means erasing everything.
It’s more likely the youth/maturity of this team. Part of growing up is forgetting the fudge you’ve been taught previously.
Ryan Navorro needs to walk back home. We gotta kick the ball out of the endzone, but I don’t expect Porebski to know that innately.
Plays that stick out: Treston DeCoud backing off on 3rd and 2, DeCoud block in the back, Caleb Smith personal foul, almost getting a punt blocked but getting a gift, sailing the ball 10 feet over the punter’s head.
True, forgot about that one. Bolden fumble because we had awesome field position and just coughed it up. Why Bolden was in there on that inside run is beside me; I’d trust Paul Lucas more in that situation. Plus after we bottled up Peppers, Kendall Hill with the bonehead facemask. I really hate our special teams.
Still feel the D can keep this team in games all year, gotta believe the terrible ST screw ups can be overcome in the future. 2nd half will show a lot about what to expect down the road. The O still the big question mark for me.
BTW, Gina tweets that Storm is available, so apparently no injury.
Defense – really good
Offense – pretty good overall (except Bolden). Inconsistent but stuff that looks fixable. Collins looks better than I expected.
Special Teams – utter disaster. I would guess over half our special teams plays involved a screwup, many of them costly. 2 high snaps, illegal formation, block in the back, personal foul (Caleb Smith). Screwing our field position at every turn. This has to get fixed yesterday.
Seriously. Like we actually look like we have some good things going on both sides of the ball. Defense is going to have that touchdown on their record but we all know that shouldn’t have happened. Offense has some good things going. But with a freshman QB we could REALLY use some good field position and we seemingly give it away every time. Caleb Smith grinds my gears because this is his fifth year in school and he’s blocking dudes laying down. WTF is wrong with him?
I’m glad this game is happening though, as embarrassing as it is. We have some mistakes that clearly need addressing.
This is typical Beavs. I predicted 27-13, so was expecting a loss. Then they come out and look awesome, scoring right away, then several drives that should have resulted in points, so expectations rise, and I think, “They can/should win this, they are faster, etc.” Then, as soon as I buy into that, they start with all the typical stuff. In short, playing with emotions. Granted, some of that happens to every team (MI had awful penalties, etc), but this feels uncomfortably familiar. On the bright side, I see glimmers of hope that look much better than anything under Riley. The execution is just a hair off on offense, and it is killing everything. ST is obvious a disaster today, but that is probably an anomaly and could have to do with wind.
Thinking MI will start teeing off on Colllins and wearing down the D, and this could get ugly now if we don’t get an early TO.
I disagree this D looks good. They look gassed after just 2 quarters, and they look mentally defeated. They looked good on 2 early drives. That’s the easy part. Keeping up that intensity is the hard part.
Agreed. This is vintage Harbaugh football. Grind down the defense with power running and timely play action passes. Beavs look young, outsized, and defeated on D.
Which is messed up. First three drives they looked superior, so much faster….get Jarmon and Lucas in there and try to win with speed. I don’t understand why they’re so hesitant to bench Bolden, yet they don’t give Woods 1 carry.
Where’s all the Air Collins talk, media? Lol. He actually looks slow, and they keep running him up the middle instead of outside (where he is most effective).
There is nothing to be happy about regarding this game.
We beat ourselves. I could give the coaching staff a pass if we were just out played, but that clearly isn’t the case. Michigan is going to power run the clock out of this game. Defense is already getting gassed.
I don’t even see that we have talented receivers, though maybe the QB play is too bad to take advantage out of it. I am not seeing a lot of guys that are getting separation though.
Turning it off, game’s over. UM’s just going to bleed the Beaver D with the power run. Probably should get MM in to see what he can do throwing the ball, but this game is pretty much over. Oh well…
He certainly looks like a frosh out there. He was hesitant on that 20 yard power trap… hesitated twice on the quick hitch. It’s better to make a mistake than it is to not play… which in itself is a mistake anyway.
Let’s be honest here: if any of the QBs on the roster is starting in 2 years, the coaching staff will have failed to recruit to an acceptable level. Nothing but placeholders until they can bring in their guy.
The only thing that will make this day tolerable is if the Ducks get routed by Michigan State.
Time to take the boat out and enjoy some sunshine……Dave Baldwin is Langsdorf 2.0 in the play calling today. Really wish we had the other Baldwin (EWU).
I feel bad for MM. They keep putting him in these awful situations…lol
Might as well play him the rest of the game, though, and see if he can do anything. They need to find out if he is an effective passer by allowing him some rhythm and not pinned inside his 10 every time. At least find out who can play with the remaining time. Get Lucas in there, too. The personnel decisions have been really bad
Will someone please explain why the Beavs always go for the high shoulder pad level tackles instead of taking out the legs? Again and again.. the RB, esp this one, is strong enough to just keep running…
the whole defense tackling has dropped significantly. The bruising Wolverines is taking its toll. We look smaller and slower. But we are playing underclassmen.
I’m tired of the mm situation. Clearly sc is better, let’s let the situation go. Our offense needs a lot of work. Defense is pretty good just offense can’t do anything
Yeah they need to let him play and get into a flow. He’s thrown 7 passes all year so it’s amazing people already know he is awful. He keeps getting put in in ridiculous situations, too, and then false starts, no pass blocking, etc.
I have no idea if he’s awful. He looks awful so far, but it’s 7 passes.
I know Collins looks very slow running vs a real defense. 10 rushes for 29 yards, and 79 yards passing. So barely 100 yards, yet he’s clearly the best option? Also, the idea he has “it factor” to win this game is out the window. He’s been very mediocre.
I don’t blame StS for the loss, but he’s done nothing. Neither has MM with his 3 throws. This situation won’t be resolved for six weeks
Agree. I have seen enough MM to last me until late October. Seth is superior athlete and even down 13 the only way we had any shot. Most teams think they are in it down 13 with 20+ minutes left. We threw in the towel. Seth needs all the experience he can get for Pac-12 play.
I don’t really care if hes got better mechanics, I just don’t see 3M passing well at all. This talk that hes a “better passer than Collins” just hasn’t proven to be true. I think he lacks poise in real game situations. I’m fine with him playing out the rest of this game for experience, but I believe we win more games with Collins playing 90% of the snaps.
I’m also still very aware both QB’s are ridiculously young and fresh still, but I think Collins has proven hes the better choice.
These announcers sound so happy now that the game is in hand.
McMaryion has looked awful so far. First drive he was pinned back, this one had bad play calls and no blocking. I’d like to see him get blocking, complete a few passes, and get into a flow. It’s so out of sync every time the guy is in there.
Dave Baldwin has rarely made a good choice in his life. Puzzling why some were optimistic when he was hired. This year’s team is going to be historically bad, even by Beaver standards.
Defense isn’t all that bad. Offense has been worthless since 2nd qtr. and special teams are rather special too. If those two areas learn to hold their own, then D looks better. Still needs improvement but the offense is making me feel sickly. Also, with adequate data points, it’s open season on Andersen era coaching.
For starters. I think Andersen needs to change to Anderson to highlight more focus on O production

Reminds me of Riley coached games against Boise State…. Off to a good/great start only to end up folding and being beaten soundly by the end of the game.
Except they didn’t give up. They were tired and outmatched, but they still put hats on the ball, albeit ineffectively.
This had the same score that Cincy game had back in the day. But that game was atrocious because you could tell both sides just gave up before the half. This could have easily been 56 to 7 if not for the effort.
I am completely lost about why Paul Lucas (fastest kid in America in all of HS football last season) is getting ZERO reps before we get to conference play?! That is insane! Especially with how underwhelming Victor Bolden is! 70+ rec. last season and only 2 TDs?? That is a red flag there but he is very overhyped (I have said this for over 2 seasons now). I hope we don’t forget that he’s a true frosh that is not redshirting?!
I really want to buy into this staff but Brennan has no idea what he is doing. He’s doing exactly what he did last season-playing 3 guys at WR the whole game. I thought I remember Baldwin talking about 7-8 WRs rotating in a game. Why are we not seeing anything near that? I’ve said it before, the only reason Brennan was retained was basically he was the only guy left behind and GS wanted to have a remaining staff member to relate and help retain athletes. I think/hope, Brennan is gone after this season!
Most embarrassing is that on national TV in a game with considerable national audience Todd Stansbury is letting ABC/ESPN show the junior kids beaver at every commercial break. That logo was designed for 1st graders or even younger toddlers and here we are being mocked as a toddler like program on the big stage. I hope Andersen puts an end to this or OSU being a joke in games with real meaning will continue. Wake up Stansbury! Horrible image we are portraying. Grade school.
I made a post saying that logo was a huge mistake, and everyone said I was blowing things out of proportion. Yet here we are, the toddler program. NEVER make a logo like that in the internet age. If something is awful/embarrassing, it WILL go viral.
Why do the still have that old voice banging on – proud of Oregon State – the clips are ok (except the horse on the treadmill) but that promo is so last year.
MM has mental problems now….clearly gun shy, probably from that INT last week. Dude needs to get over it and start letting it rip. At this point he is awful, and Collins is very bad. Subject to change.
So, Storm held out the entire 1st half and enters the action immediately after halftime. Hard to believe a senior leader was being disciplined, but maybe?
He looked like a leader on the sideline the one time I saw him.
I disagree that sc is bad. He made some good plays first drive was flawless. I think play call got a little bit of trying too hard. The throw back to sc, than bolden at rb was a BIG mistake. Had we of kept doing the standard offense I bet we score on that possession and at a minimum it’s a close game, quite possibly Beavs win.
The team seemed to collapse after the shitty snap after a great punt and we never recovered. End of story. I think Riley has left his mark on this team and we will only continue to grow to get rid of that, but it will take time. I wouldn’t want to play the Beavs at the end of the season that’s for sure
Maybe if Bolden doesn’t throw 3 yards shy of SC or if that play isn’t called we go up 14-0 it atleast 10-0. Villamin decision to not get outside and then the punting flop sealed the loss. Get rid of penalties and that stupid little tots logo on ESPN. Pathetic that this has to be mentioned or Stansbury may let it continue. He still might. :(
Agree. SC didn’t look especially good, but didn’t look bad. Especially considering he’s a true freshman playing vs his first D1 opponent, on the road in a pretty hostile environment.
Lots of issues and blame to go around- I don’t think SC deserves an inordinate portion of it. He’s our best chance to win at this point. Hope he keeps steadily improving, and learns to keep his feet on the ground and slide.
Hopefully we can bounce back vs San Jose St at home, and carry some momentum into the Stanford game.
SC will never be a consistent winning PAC 12 QB. He makes one read, it’s not there, and he panics. He’ll run all over terrible teams but today, against a real defense, he averaged 2.5 yards per carry. He missed wide open receivers throughout the game (almost got Jarmon killed) and even many of his completed passes were dangerously floated to the WR. Plus the play where he gave up midplay after a flag was thrown showed another example of his bad attitude. Maybe I’ll be eating crow someday but, as someone above stated, I think it’ll be a really bad sign if McM or SC are getting any real playing time at QB two years from now.
There’s probably a good reason Garrettson in on the sidelines. He will be the starting QB next year with Collins running some Wildcat type stuff on occassion.
Maybe I’m ignorant here, but is it normal for a punter to be coached to take a safety in that sort of situation?
Seems like in many cases you would rather let your defense try a goal line stand. If you can hold them to a FG, I’d think 3 points and the Beavs getting the ball would be better than 2 points and the other team taking another possession. An extreme case- say inside the 5- might dictate a safety, but like I said it’d be hard to track that at full game speed in a highly unusual panic situation like that.
Yes but normally that’s when you are already in the endzone. I see what Porebski was trying to do there. He thought he could get rid of the ball but then realized, too late, that was not going to happen! I don’t blame Nick for that. There were two horrible snaps in a row! The play before, Porebski pinned them on their fucking 2 yard line but somebody committed a mental error (and continued to play) which then resulted in the biggest meltdown in Oregon State history.
Biggest meltdown in OSU history? There was a game several years also where OSU led UCLA 14-12 starting the 4th quarter and lost 40-14. I believe the kick returner fumbled three times in a row.
I doubt they ever practiced a situation where the ball travels 50 yards behind the line of scrimmage on a bad snap. Probably the worst snap I’ve ever seen. Not going to blame the punter for making a bad split-second decision after that.
There’s some disturbing things I have taken away from this game.
1) We as a team, are weak, mentally and physically. And btw, Michigan, is not that great of a football. team.
2) I want to “trust the process” but when you start to do some of what the old regime did with not acting upon what you say, you’re going to lose me really quick! Caleb Smith and V Bolden should have been taken out way early in this game for stupid mental mistakes. Some reason, Baldwin has a huge hard on for Bolden (who gets tackled/tripped by the first defender almost every time, drops passes put right in his hands and fumbles the football on an important drive?????). WTF?! What happened to “go find somewhere else to play”, if you’re going to commit penalties (C Smith dives into a guy after the whistle to earn a penalty???? and he plays the whole fucking game- that’s Riley-esque man!). Talk is fuckin cheap man! I would not care if we lost with younger back ups in there but when you keep the guys that commit constant mental errors in the game and we still get rolled, that sends the wrong message brother!
BTW- our receiving corps is not even close to the best in the PAC! Not even close!
Hate to say it, but MM might as well think about transferring to a different program at a lower level. I was unbiased about the QB situation but it’s clear, in my novice opinion, that he just doesn’t have “it”.
Yeah Seth Collins and his 2 yards in 3 quarters. Great stuff. MM has thrown 7 career passes. Get a clue, buddy. Nobody can make a [fair] call on the QBs at this point.
Collins is very bad based on a moderate sample, MM is awful based on a minute sample size. Any other claim is ridiculous. The discussion should be avoided until week 6. It will take that long to resolve.
Just cracked my first “snowcone” GO BEAVS!
Go Beavs
Go Beavs
live stream of the game will be on ESPN3 for those that need a stream
One hour till game time and I feel great! These 9 am starts are nothing. NOTHING!
BEATm!
Unless you’re still hungover, crap!
Go Beavs
¡Por fin! The foreplay was getting tiresome.
Hoping they the ball into the hands of Paul Lucas. Gonna need his big play ability.
Is Deltron Sands returning kicks today?
Anyone else sense a Vanderveen double pass?
Chris Brown gets the start. A message to Storm B-W?
Really?!? I like that. Get speed on the field. There will be plenty of opportunity for Storm.
I agree, Brown should start. Let’s get the future of Beav football some serious action and game time.
Lindsay on suicide watch since Stormy isn’t starting. All the Krispy Kreme in the world cannot console her. Good, so far Brown has looked better
Brown has rushed for fewer yards and less ypc than Woods, just an FYI.
Agree he has more upside, but he hasn’t produced more so far.
Sample size too small maybe?
They had the same amount of carries. But I don’t have any issue playing Brown. Just saying, it’s not like he was all world compared to Storm last week. Woods actually outran him last week
I’m wondering if Storm still has an injury issue. GO BEAVS!!!! I’ll be looking for ESPN3. Thanks
24 points on offense and a harassing OSU D is enough for the W. Go get em Seth. Some slants, a few deep looks, Brown making the most of the start and Mageo and the D getting after it.
Go Beavs!!!!!
Anyone else couldn’t sleep last night? It was like x-mas eve. I hope the players didn’t have the same problem.
Slept like college student.
Football!
N/M
working for me here: http://espn.go.com/watchespn/
Thanks, yeah found it.
Sad the legit ESPN stream is behind the pirated streams.
I’m trying to watch on a stream, and ABC has some weird Mayan reef show on. WTF is this?
I like how I go to the ESPN360 site to open the game, and it says Oregon State vs Michigan, but shows a picture of Oregon vs Mich State with the link.
bastards…
Run Chris, run!
Michigan D not looking very stout
Collins has to make that pass…sigh
remember when i said I hate Bolden running the sweep? wrong
Seth can’t set his feet, looks terrible passing
I’ve got it on ABC here in the Portland area (Dish network).
Collins really can’t throw…
But Hunter can catch!
And just like that…Jarmon!
TD!!! wow… what a way to start the game!
THAT was a good throw
Jarmon!!!!!!! Collins great pass!!!!
First touchdown just 2 minutes in! :D
Well fuck me. That was pretty nice.
OMG that pass and that catch were GORGEOUS.
Makes up for him taking off and just running into someone for no reason.
7-0 Beavers.
let’s all admit that first drive was pretty impressive.
That was awesome.
Big House got even quieter, fast…
ANDERSEN ERA!!!!! Nice catch Jarmon. A string of nice looking plays on that drive!
Cool, calm and collected. Great opening drive Beavs. Your move Meechicken
that catch by Villamin really helped out Collins though. It could have easily been intercepted. Villamin coming through big.
That was a very surprising drive. I feel like they definitely saw some weaknesses in film this week. Let’s hope that Harbie pulls a Riley and makes no adjustments.
Beauty
A Riley team would still be on their 4th play. This tempo is just such a breathe of fresh air. Great drive, although that pass to Villamin was a pick waiting to happen. Glad he’s tall!
Blowens
You guys ready to rethink doubt we have the best WRs in the Pac? ;)
They made Collins look good there, with VillyTron and Jarmon both impressive catches.
Ugh, kick out of bounds.
DeCoud nice play though
Great Coverage Decoud!!
Shit, Owens kicks out of bounds — left over stink of Riley
very windy there, contributed to the kick
There’s that underestimated D, new scheme, free, fast play!
Fuck YES! Mageo!
Sitake, I love you!
MAGEO!!!!!!!!! OSU D!!!!
WOW Keep it going Beavs!!!!!!!!!!!
And I can’t find a fucking stream that doesn’t require me downloading something.
SHIT
Try ESPN360.COM. I think this game is free since it’s on ABC
Yes!!! I tried that earlier and it wouldn’t load. Just gave me a spinning wheel. This time it worked.
Thanks again. Hopefully my being able to watch won’t bring the Beavs bad luck.
things are happening so fast I can’t keep up
SACK FUMBLE BEAVERS RECOVER!!!
Great blitz and hit. Love it.
Bolden needs to sit for Jarmon. Been saying this for months
Give Lucas some fly sweeps too.
That, too.
Mr. Bolden, please sit down.
Bolden terrible pass and then the fumble, like the play call, poor execution
Villy, Jarmon, Guyton please
I hate Bolden. I hate him so much.
He destroys us. he is so anti-clutch.
Haven’t you heard he’s the next Brandin Cooks? Lindsey Schnell and the Oregonian said so
The only thing missing is a Lindsey given moniker, “Vicky”
david henry sighting
Six point swing on that TO. Please no more.
Have they officially burned the redshirt? I haven’t seen him in a game.
Yes, read he was in for a play or two vs Weber although you wouldn’t know it. I suspect it will be a somewhat wasted year if he only gets a look or two come Pac-12 conference play. Not sure he will have a catch today.
They’ll use him then they won’t waste it like Riley
The good news it the Beavs have the lead and they look significantly faster than MI.
And sts looks calm, aside from poor throws to start, seemingly unbothered by the big stage
I was going to scream HOLD! thank god they saw that
Oops, wrong reply. StS looks fine should have dove for that 1st, though, and some poor early throws
And they have earned confidence…
I hate when coaches punt on 4th and short. Are you saying your team can’t get 1 yard? Come on.
Think we should have gone for it. If you can’t get 6 inches you aren’t going to win the game.
It was the right call that early in the game with the lead. Don’t give MI momentum
Agree, no question.
D read the screen well
Great looking pressure on that 3rd down.
The announcers are so focused on MI… what they have to do, what they are doing… the Beavs are such an afterthought to them
Good.
Coverage has been pretty solid so far. not sure if that’s bad receivers, or good secondary, but I’ll take it.
.
Good stop by the D there, need at least a field postion change by the offense here.
Beavs will have the wind at their backs in the 2nd quarter. Need a good long drive here
Nah, beavs are the faster team…keep punching, keep m off balance…score quickly again…get another possession. They can start to make m doubt themselves…
Refs calling a good game so far. Where is this crew from?
They got the hold on MI and the PI, both obvious. You’d think they’d get those calls at home, glad to see they aren’t
Running game has been weak the last 3 series. Where’s Storm?
JV cutback the other way!
terrible decision by Villamin. If he goes outside there he has the first down and more.
Villamin has to make that play. Went down so easily.
That Peppers is impressive.
Get up field
Dammit!
Villamin has a mile free on the outside but ran inside instead. WTF?
Awful. Beavs might have left two scores on the field with these errors
Beavs making a lot of small errors. It’s going to catch up with them. Ugh
Villamin just had to run slightly left to the outside vs in and he might have had 10 or more yards and an easy first down.
Oh goody, there’s a former Michigan player in the booth doing coverage. This seems to always happen to us.
A ref? Like that guy in Arizona…remember that game? Awful
Actually it’s Chris Spielman and he played at Ohio State… I heard that comment and I think he meant that play hadn’t been around since he played in the big house…
The D is looking good.
“Michigan 1 out of 5 on third downs”
Sounds awfully similar to Weber State :-)
Marable was a nice kid, talked to him a lot of times, but he was so terrible…Dockery is so much better
Thank goodness he held onto the ball there.
sts goes airborne and pays the price, that kid better learn to slide
1-5 on 3rd down D. So far, so good.
Lipreading Andersen on the block in the back call: “Bull Shit Call, Bull Shit Call”
Tell ’em Gary
it was pretty minor…
Beavs holding there own so far. D has looked pretty good. Despite Villamin’s decision on that 4th down screen, I liked the play call and it was open. I’d go back to that one again at some point
Gee announcers, What does the score have to be before this quits being a just a big michigan/Harbaugh ad and starts becoming an Oregon state ad?
Three captain obvious observations:
1-Mageo is for real, angry do you believe?
2.Rudolph poor passing again hurts MI
3-the hurdle is simply part of Seth, hard to change.
He was a hurdler in high school. But, if he makes it a regular practice, he might want to bank some semen now if he wants to have kids some day…
Only reason he didn’t hurdle on that 3rd down was that he was ankle tackled before he could leave his feet.
Great tackle, bummer.
Defense is locking them down so far, but we really need another TD before the half.
Most blatant facemask ever.
Very close to getting away for some huge gains on offense. I think it starts happening. Let’s see another 3 and out forced by D
does anyone have any word on what’s up with storm? Is he hurt?
Radio indicated that he would play today, FWIW.
Saulo having a good game.
Is the enough substitution going on the keep fresh D for the 4th qtr?
Really could of used another TD for cushion
Pick play.
Cmon D!
The front 4 needs to create pressure. He’s having all day back there
Our pass defense is…lacking.
MI looking like MI now.
Beavs errors going to catch up with them…I sense a heart-breaker brewing and “what if” game
I don’t trust Collins at all playing from behind.
They’re sitting back too much… not enough pressure on the QB… duh…
Yeah I don’t understand this D
Mayo lost assignment on the 4th down play.
Looked like Mageo should have had the rb coming out of the backfield on that 4th down play, shit.
How do we rush 3 and still can’t cover everyone? WTF.
This drive is infuriating.
Fail tackle into TD. Classic Beavers!
…or just a missed tackle… which believe it or not happens in college football…
Let’s see some McMaryion.
Don’t like the idea of Collins playing from behind. They’re going to put 11 in the box now (lol) and force him to complete a pass
Good to see GA pissed on that penalty, imagine that, an engaged head coach. Those type of mental errors are killers, don’t think he will let that shit slide
Can’t give up 15 on 3rd and 20. Hope Michigan doesn’t get the ball back this half. Andersen needs a good drive from his guys here.
long drive there. Defense got worn down. Offense needs to pick it up on this drive before the half. Huge swing point right here. If Mich gets the ball back and scores again before halftime then gets the ball to start the 2nd half? Yikes
UM is doing a good job picking up blitz’s after the sack fumble. pushing the outside blitzers upfield.
Saw a different looser formation on that 4th down. I felt should’ve kept dialing up the pressure
Caleb finds a new way to get negative yardage….
No shit. Eliminate false starts? No problem
The Riley Factor is real
Right on cue a stupid penalty from Caleb Smith.
stupid penalties by Caleb Smith continues. ugh penalties are catching up with us way too many.
Our mistakes plus Michigan getting some homer calls. We need to make it work on O right now.
Wow. That wasn’t a homer call. Refs should have discussed that before marching it off.
I’m glad they didn’t. :)
Not a lot of big blitzes or stacked boxes yet. You’d think we’d want to focus on the run and make their very mediocre QB beat us, but instead we’re playing back and dropping like 6 into coverage.
Not a fan. Dial up some bigger blitzes.
Get Collins rolling outside so he can run/pass. They’re snuffing the runs when he’s in the pocket
Damn Bolden is such garbage.
Well. That was certainly a catchable ball
We officially wasted Lucas’ redshirt in my opinion.
This is game 2. Chill out dude
Beavs catch a big break. 15 yard roughing the kicker.
shut up Parker!!!!
What is that whiny asshole saying?
He was going a “wee bit” crazy with how they should flag harbaugh
He was yelling out of the pressbox at Harbaugh. I am sure the refs heard him. obnoxious. just call the action.
FUCK BOLDEN.
Holy shit he’s awful.
That’s not a nice thing to say about Branin Cooks!
No shit. Right through his fucking hands.
Bench Bolden.
I like that new mantra.
#benchbolden
How about ejecting him for throwing his clipboard at the red?!!?
Villytron looks dazed…concussion like symptoms. Not good.
“How many fingers am I holding up?”
“Football”
Dramatic overreaction in the heat of the moment: Collins is not a Pac-12 caliber QB. I’m not convinced McMaryion is either though.
Be fair to Bolden on that cross. It was a horrible pass.
… and his fades to Villamin are not good either. His best pass of the day was the quick hitch.
no it wasn’t. It was a catchable ball. he puts his hands up half a second earlier the ball hits him in the hands
Not gonna win being this conservative
Collins way too jumpy. When he hops up and down he can’t make cuts or take hits. Physics against him when he’s in the air
Ewwww. What just happened to our offense? Our running game has disappeared, for starters. And the “Collins run 80% of the time, throw to Villamin/Bolden the other 20%” distribution is not a winning strategy.
Lots of special teams problems and penalties. God damnit, was it worth having a a ST coach?
Absolutely, positively, 100% not… with a bullet.
Game over
o
m
g
…smh
penalties!!! Fk unbelievable meltdown
96 yard loss. From their 2 yard line to ours.
FUCK PENALTIES!!!!
I guess if you’re from australia you don’t know to kick it out of endzone
agreed. if he just kicks that motherfucker out of the back of the end zone you’re only down 12-7 @ halftime.
How is that not coached…
Where was that snap? that’s a mile over his head, holy shit I’ve never seen one that high
that was the 2nd high snap. The first one was on the punt where Porebski was roughed
Listening on radio. Bruce Read laughing right now
That’s typical. That’s all he did when he was looking at his checkbook while here.
There we go. I figured there was still some Riley left in these guys.
Freaking illegal formation penalty. Can’t have bonehead errors like that!
2 godawful snaps by the longsnapper. Time for him to take a fucking seat. That’s a 7 point fuckup.
Paging Bruce Read……………..NEVER!
Well, certainly not looking good right now.
Still a whole half to turn it around though.
That decision to punt was awful, and that timeout call was downright Riley-esque. Not impressed with GA thus far at all.
Beavs left 10-14 points on the field on offense, too. Villamin on the screen, Bolden fumble, etc.
This looks like Riley football
Last 6 or 7 minutes in particular. Get back to the mix on that first scoring drive.
Half agree, but half think Riley football would have us down 20 right now
Special Teams plus Bolden killing the team
Riley would have us down 20 or more at the half.
There’s still obviously some Riley left in these guys, but it’s still very fixable, even within the context of this game.
Time to stop punting.
Hey, punting got us a first down and Harbag theater :)
Okay, taking that knee was Riley-esque.
It was.
So, adversity has struck……we have found the enemy and he is us.
Now it’s all about reaction and halftime adjustments; keep the faith!
And 3 special teams fuckups. 2 bad snaps, 1 that cost us 7 points, and that kickoff that rolled out of bounds.
Nobody looks good right now.
GA doesn’t get a free pass for the crap this half. Too many bad penalties and botched fundamentals.
You can get a new coach but you can’t take Riley out of the players
I also disagreed with GA calling a timeout with 17 seconds left. Why? Mich only had one left. Make them use their timeout.
See angry? Still stuff to be angry about, can’t go yet
You….ARE aware this game isn’t over yet, right? Still another whole half to be played. We’ll see soon how the coaches adjust.
Gary Andersen saying his players “need to grow up”.
No kidding. Here’s hoping they grow up in the second half.
28 scoreless minutes, btw. That’s pretty epic considering they never really stopped us.
I don’t get the conservative approach to defense, befuddling.
I think blaming Riley for the poor play is like crediting him for the good play that occurred in the first quarter. It sounds whiney.
This is GA’s team and its on him.
D only gave up 10 points basically. Can’t blame that last 7 on them
He said so, and I agree.
Bolden fumble. Bolden not seeing the ball when thrown to him.
I really hate our special teams.
new 2nd half thread? this one is loading slow.
Andersen is the special teams coach.
OH SNAP
Oh, and the kickoff out of bounds too.
I’m not sure what you expected from Collins. He’s looked horrible except for some runs.
That’s 13 points on TO swings.
At worst, we should be tied at 10.
Time to see if GA and company can make meaningful adjustments at halftime.
embarrassing is the only word that fits for me.
If all we do is clean up the stupid bullshit and play well, even if we lose, I’ll be satisfied.
Exactly
Thinking MI will start teeing off on Colllins and wearing down the D, and this could get ugly now if we don’t get an early TO.
we had it just there, but the fumble lands in Butt’s hand. no break
man, when the ball bounces your way like that… *shrug*
If MI scores here, just let MM play the entire 2nd half so we at least know what we have there.
He just has ALL day to throw. I don’t understand this defensive play calling.
This patsy defensive strategy is pissing me off. Stack the box and make their QB throw his way to victory.
I disagree this D looks good. They look gassed after just 2 quarters, and they look mentally defeated. They looked good on 2 early drives. That’s the easy part. Keeping up that intensity is the hard part.
My comment was made at halftime. The start of the 3rd quarter has been another story altogether.
I still disagree, once they stopped blitzing they looked awful, and that was in the 2nd quarter.
Beavs are bruised and want nothing to do with this MI running back
Peko – hands on hips – isn’t that supposed to be a sign of fatigue?
It’s a meltdown! Thought we were A LOT tougher than this. 31-10 at best! Caleb Smith and Bolden should not be playing!
Go Beavs!
Trivia answer:
Mora and Bike Smiley?
How was that not PI?
Got away with a terrible PI there.
Should have been PI
PI or not, needed that stop
How do you have homer announcers on ABC? Come on. Fucking amateur.
The whole west coast tuning out on these amerature homers. Bad business for abc to have such a one sided coverage
Take it to twitter. Else nobody will care
mute the tv
Whaddaya know- another special teams flub. To be fair, was a nice recovery though
And right on schedule, Caleb Smith drops a pass. About as easy as a catch as you could ask for
Again… a terrible pass… low, hot and behind. He’s probably lucky he dropped it. He was going to get drilled and likely would have dropped it that way.
That was an awful pass, don’t blame Caleb for that one. You can’t throw a 4 yard laser. Sidearm.
we NEED a spark. Its time to play 3M
Scotch Tape? Post-it Notes?
No vision or patience there by Collins on that draw.
Thank god we got our real RB in. Maybe we’ll move the ball again.
Missing the first half, then starting the second…is that a stealth suspension?
Where’s all the Air Collins talk, media? Lol. He actually looks slow, and they keep running him up the middle instead of outside (where he is most effective).
Get MM in there! See what he can do.
stupid QB draw on 3rd down
Collins throwing the ball 4 yards and throws a sidearm ROCKET, which bounces off the receiver’s chest. Awful throw dude.
Or… off his butt.
Does Caleb Smith do anything well?
he’s really good at committing penalties and dropping passes
Collins isn’t the problem. Not that it would hurt to play 3M.
Seriously? That’s a pair of 3rd and longs where we called a QB draw. What stupid fucking playcalling.
If you can’t trust your shitty QB to throw the ball on 3rd and 7, maybe play someone else?
There is nothing to be happy about regarding this game.
We beat ourselves. I could give the coaching staff a pass if we were just out played, but that clearly isn’t the case. Michigan is going to power run the clock out of this game. Defense is already getting gassed.
I don’t even see that we have talented receivers, though maybe the QB play is too bad to take advantage out of it. I am not seeing a lot of guys that are getting separation though.
4th qtr has Beavs going into the wind.
Turning it off, game’s over. UM’s just going to bleed the Beaver D with the power run. Probably should get MM in to see what he can do throwing the ball, but this game is pretty much over. Oh well…
Willis has had a lot of bad plays today. He missed the tackle on the 1st TD. Defensive LVP?
He certainly looks like a frosh out there. He was hesitant on that 20 yard power trap… hesitated twice on the quick hitch. It’s better to make a mistake than it is to not play… which in itself is a mistake anyway.
Let’s be honest here: if any of the QBs on the roster is starting in 2 years, the coaching staff will have failed to recruit to an acceptable level. Nothing but placeholders until they can bring in their guy.
Pretty good assignment FB there on reverse.
#35 now with two attempted arm tackles that he, obviously, botched.
I’m glad I decided against drinking on every “a Jim Harbaugh coached offense”
Has Lucas touched the ball yet? What a waste. He should minimally be the kick returner and get a couple fly sweeps per game.
Ok, score on this drive, or it’s time to hook up the boat and spin some herring.
Our defense is consistently trying to force a fumble instead of just hard hitting sure tackling
they have paniced. sloppy tackling is right.
Seen enough of Collins and our tecmo bowl offense. They are on to our four plays, mix it up.
The only thing that will make this day tolerable is if the Ducks get routed by Michigan State.
Time to take the boat out and enjoy some sunshine……Dave Baldwin is Langsdorf 2.0 in the play calling today. Really wish we had the other Baldwin (EWU).
Ducks are going to kill Mi State.
The only thing I knew about Baldwin before he came here was a 45-10 smackdown by Utah as interim coach in a bowl
Same Beavs this year. Season reduced to rooting against quacks and Biley
Brought 3 and blew right thrusting the line.
Not McMaryion’s fault on the sack but man, he looked nervous that entire drive. Probably his possession of the game
Thru
I feel bad for MM. They keep putting him in these awful situations…lol
Might as well play him the rest of the game, though, and see if he can do anything. They need to find out if he is an effective passer by allowing him some rhythm and not pinned inside his 10 every time. At least find out who can play with the remaining time. Get Lucas in there, too. The personnel decisions have been really bad
Same here.
Going into the wind with rain in the 4th may argue for the running QB, but it is more important to get some time for MM.
This is about to get out of hand.
Will someone please explain why the Beavs always go for the high shoulder pad level tackles instead of taking out the legs? Again and again.. the RB, esp this one, is strong enough to just keep running…
Strong with a stinger. THis UM back is bulldozing us. hope we stay healthy.
Strong an uncharacteristic arm flail, then banged up on next play. Bummer.
the whole defense tackling has dropped significantly. The bruising Wolverines is taking its toll. We look smaller and slower. But we are playing underclassmen.
Absolutely horrible.
Starting to look like Banker tackling…ugly.
Though to be fair, the D has been on the field for 100% of the second half.
They aren’t wrapping anyone up. This is defense is wrecked.
Smith’s TD proves your point. Fatigue.
9am starting to feel brutal
Okay this is officially Biley level now
Yet another case where a team turns themselves around by playing the Beavers?
The defense obviously just wants to go home.
The D obviously just wants to spend more than two minutes on the sideline.
Yep. Not gonna happen. Here comes 8 yards per carry.
Willis again on the 2PAT.
Come on man!
Didn’t Andersen say the team would leave Michigan knowing how tough they are? Guess we know :(
Remember the glaring lack of talent I spoke of all off season? Well, this is what I meant. This Michigan team is not very good either.
3rd down play shows Isaac totally whiffing. Fatigue?…I don’t think so!
McMaryion is not that good at passing and can’t run. Collins sucks but might be the best option in a shitty QB squad.
Apparently… if you want to kill your receivers.
Collins looks slow running vs this D.
I’m tired of the mm situation. Clearly sc is better, let’s let the situation go. Our offense needs a lot of work. Defense is pretty good just offense can’t do anything
Andersen sending Seth out there again may mark the end of the mm “situation”. A mistake not to get time for MM as he WILL be needed this season.
Yes… so obviously better.
smh
Maego is a stud… from beginning to the end. One bright light of the day.
He was also a bright light last week.
Team getting “Dick’s Hamburgers” flown in from Spokane after the game…
These announcers sound so happy now that the game is in hand.
McMaryion has looked awful so far. First drive he was pinned back, this one had bad play calls and no blocking. I’d like to see him get blocking, complete a few passes, and get into a flow. It’s so out of sync every time the guy is in there.
Awful throw to a wide open wr….
Hung him out to dry on that one.
Did I just see Collins just give up on a play when he saw a holding flag?
Yes.
He’s got “it factor”, he’s a leader. Lol
Is Langsdork on the OSU sidelines calling the plays?
Dave Baldwin has rarely made a good choice in his life. Puzzling why some were optimistic when he was hired. This year’s team is going to be historically bad, even by Beaver standards.
Not sold on Baldwin either. Seems slightly above .500 MWC material. Ok for CSU. Not likely for him to excel at OSU against much better defenses.
I think people who go out and slash their wrists after one bad loss in a new season for a new program that is THIS young…should get help.
Clearly they have work to do. Relax.
Had a DI in basic offer help to a guy who attempted wrist slashing, “Come to me I’ll show you the right way to do it!”.
Auburn in serious trouble. Gotta love that SEC dominance!
OMG, shutup… I think Spielman would give him a BJ if Harbaugh asked.
It’s hard to understand him with all the gagging
The only thing that can salvage this day is if Riley loses again.
These guys are so much bigger and stronger it’s amazing.
Yeah it’s like watching the varsity team scrimmaging the freshman squad.
That’s effectively what’s happening.
136 total yards in 1Q, for the game now 130 total yards
I think it was something similar to that at the end of 2 quarters too. 1st quarter was great, after that….
Most of it on the first drive.
the bad snap on the punt losing 50 yards didn’t help.

Well, we could have easily been winning at the half.
Well, we weren’t. And we proceeded to get our teeth kicked in the entire 2nd half
SC not good body language, that is what people talk about with him. Got to learn how to lead.
Last drive and Lucas still not in. Idiots.
Go Beavs!
Drew Clarkson sighting, seemed OK.
Did Villamin ever come back?
Read the comments here as everyone sticks up for that awful logo.
http://angrybeavs.com/football/11397
Nothing new about OSU looking like shit on national TV.
Why do the still have that old voice banging on – proud of Oregon State – the clips are ok (except the horse on the treadmill) but that promo is so last year.
They were also using the old OS logo at times. What the fuck.
MM has mental problems now….clearly gun shy, probably from that INT last week. Dude needs to get over it and start letting it rip. At this point he is awful, and Collins is very bad. Subject to change.
The offense is performing VERY poorly.
109,651 was the attendance- must be an OSU record
Can’t help but wonder how bad it would have been if the Beavs hadn’t had that rigorous off season conditioning program?
I think it would have been about 45-7 under Riley.
One thing you don’t have to wonder about is how Riley would have handled the post game interview!
There are not many things a punter needs to know. How does he not know to take a safety when snap goes deeeep into your territory?? Seriously?
Probably panicked.
Go Beavs!
That’s a tough judgment call to make on the fly…have you ever seen a punter deliberately take a safety?? I haven’t…
In hindsight it would have been a good move but I’m not sure how you would coach that exactly…seems like that decision would be very much situational.
That’s a great point
I don’t usually resort to terse profanity but FUCK HIM
Whiny little bitch apparently never dealt with Chip Kelly.
Poor little bitch has to actually watch observe and try to do actual journalism
Go Beavs!
Andersen says postgame that Storm didn’t play the first half because, “He wasn’t ready”. Declines to expand on that answer.
Hate to say it, but MM might as well think about transferring to a different program at a lower level. I was unbiased about the QB situation but it’s clear, in my novice opinion, that he just doesn’t have “it”.
But I am certainly not saying that SC has what it takes either, but I do think he has much more upside.
“Get a clue, buddy”
It’s not that serious. Turn off your computer and get outside.
I’m biased, but the duck$ glitter helmets with donald duck on them look terrible…
