  1. Does the ball hitting the rim sound funny to anybody else? Sounds like they are using a sound bite on my tv. It’s really loud.

    • Live by the 3, die by the 3……….scary, but gotta go with what’s working. Still impressed with Deven today and full agreement with whoever said Gabby shouldn’t be shooting (but she makes up for it with D).
Third quarter has been a good one for these gals, hope that continues.
I haven’t listened closely to TV, are they pulling for DeP?

  2. Good first half by the lady Beavs. They can score from anywhere on the court and that’s making it hard for DePaul defensively.

They need to keep doing what they’re doing. It would be nice if they could slow down DePaul’s possessions and get them deeper into the shot clock. It’s impossible to contest DePaul’s outside shots, they’re hitting those threes anyway. But DePaul’s game is all NBA Jam—get to your spot as fast as you can and pull the trigger. OSU needs to slow them down.

  3. For anyone who hasn’t tried it yet, I highly recommend Pfriem Mosaic IPA out of Hood River…and I don’t work there, stuff is TASTY….

    • Great brewery. Been a couple years since I’ve been out there, but I remember it being some of the best food I’ve ever had at a brewery.

  4. Beavs doing stuff on O which has seldom, if ever, been seen this year. High post work and HiLo with Hunter. So far so good. And cutting down of TO’s; that has been a trend in post season.

  5. As I said months ago, final 4 team. I don’t think they can win it all. Maybe if Gulich was more seasoned and they could go with 2 legit bigs they could, but as is, I don’t see it.

    • Idk if they’ll get past Baylor. Guess we’ll find out Monday. Am I reading the bracket right that if OSU gets to the final four they would face UConn?

      • I think they can beat Baylor, but that will be a brutal game. Need Ruth to bring the inside D, same performance as today from the guards, and the bit players to chip in more.

      • Is this payback for the 2 of 3 “prediction” after the fact? lolz
I’m not super confident they’ll beat Baylor. It will take the A+ game. So yeah, you’re right. But my gut says they somehow do it.

    • Gulich has improved soooo much. Remember, Ruth fouled a lot her freshman year, less so as a sophomore, and perhaps we can hope for Ruth to come close – she is faster than Ruth. Marie is a very good screen-setter, imo. I’m usually wrong but I have a sense that Sabrina Ionescu will choose Oregon State.

The Image of Ruth reaching down to pat Rueck on the shoulder is so sweet.

And Jamie “why do you want to go to there?” Weisner, who bought into Rueck’s vision 4 years ago. Wow!

  6. Ducks are going down in flames to Oklahoma. They are only losing Benjamin so I imagine they will be very good again next year

  7. Man, just what, five years…Rueck vs L Wagner…
Pretty amazing what a culture chance can do. I think we see the same in football at some point.

  8. The plays on points 58 and 62 were pretty sweet. They also improved on D in the second half.

Sweet win. I really like this team’s character and integrity, the way the represent OSU. Rueck deserves serious acknowledgement.

I suspect Baylor will underestimate OSU.

And, the Ducks lose today, so we don’t have to hear from their fanbase until…their Montana QB transfer flames out?

  9. OSU did a great job. They gave up 71, but how are you supposed to defend a team that can hit contested 3s from 27′? They crushed DePaul in the paint and responded with a great shooting effort of their own. Super proud. Baylor will be a great game.

Edit: I hasten to add, OSU played good defense and still gave up 71. Just a commentary on how good DePaul is and how good OSU had to shoot to respond.

        • I agree. Beavs were punching above their weight [like Scotty and I often do!]. The rotation is pretty bad. They will go to Omaha but are somewhere in the 12-20th best team.

        • I’ll stick with bad juju, after all HoustonB DID show up. As for baseball, I really don’t believe you two savants expected three 4 hit games vs Cal, or 8 e’s in the series.

I will agree that the Beavs were overrated at #3, those wins vs ASU aren’t that impressive given how the devils have played all year. And 12-20 sounds reasonable, I wouldn’t be surprised though at a final ranking of 10………..if y’all will stay on the right side of karma!

  10. Monster game from Weisner, and the Beavers did just what they needed to do–shoot the ball well and keep the turnovers down. They shot over 50%, and that’s with Hansen shooting 3-11. That gal does some really good things, but good lord her shooting is really bad. Cringe when when she launches the 3.

I think this team can take down Baylor if they play at a similar level.

  11. My women’s bracket is top 200, but going to go downhill significantly from here, my FF is UCONN, OSU, South Carolina and Stanford.

  12. YO YALL DIS RUECK DUDE GONE YALL DATS WHY DEYAINT TALK NUTTIN. LOOK LIKE DEM BEAVS STRAIGHT FINAL 4 FYALL NECS SEZON OR TINKS ON HOT SEAT YALL 17 AN 19 WINS GARBAGE YALL.

  13. LOOK LIKE FLAT STACEY GONE LOOZE DAT PAC12 AGAIN YALL WE AINT GOTZ NOTTING TO SHOW VS PAC12 AGAIN TIME TO SHITZ ON DI HOLE AD STAFF YALL

  14. Regarding BWB and “pressure” upon which I commented a couple of threads ago. In the OSUbeavers.com under WBB there are PDF notes (once again I neglected to copy the link) of Rueck’s post game interview; toward the end he addresses that question – I found it interesting.

    • Eggers covers the same material in his story:
Rueck brought up Oregon State’s loss to Southern Cal in the 2013 Pac-12 tournament championship game.

“It was because we couldn’t handle the press in the second half,” Rueck said. “Since then, I’ve heard it as kind of a reputation — Oregon State may not handle pressure. Even two weeks ago, (first-round NCAA Women’s Tournament opponent) Troy said it in the news conference. So this team has taken that personally for a long time. I don’t know if anybody is perfect at it, but it’s something in which we’ve really grown.”

  15. Grimace and friends headed to the final four after beating Stanford. Will face Syracuse/Tennessee winner in Indianapolis. Hindsight is 20/20 but how much better would the BWB chances be on that side of the bracket????

    • I said that yesterday, it would have been awesome to be in the Lexington regional. if the beavs can find a way to beat Baylor the final 4 game will be real championship.

    • I don’t think the path would have been much easier. We would have had to have played UW, UK, and Stanford, the last of which spanked us the last time we played. I realize we have to go through Baylor but I’ll take my chances with this team as they’re playing extremely well right now.

    • If UW makes the final four and beavs don’t, it’s a freaking travesty. Or imagine UW winning the championship. I would seriously just check out. (Start rooting for UW, Jack)

  16. Let me step back, though. Whenever someone dislikes someone more successful, the automatic accusation is jealousy.

No, it’s disgust. Take Syracuse and NC. Syracuse should not even be in the tournament:
    http://thebiglead.com/2016/02/12/jim-boeheim-syracuse-ncaa-selection-committee

Boeheim made his cheating bed, and he gets a pass to not lie in it. North Carolina? Seriously, how did they not get the death penalty? Oh, right. Because money. Their success disgusts me.

We’re it jealousy, I would have issues with Oklahoma, Villanova, VCU, and other teams that have gotten farther than OSU. But I don’t. They didn’t do anything (major that I know of) wrong. Good for them.

    • That Syracuse example is absurd. Is there similar egregious problems in Women’s programs? I mean, with this kind of frequency? It doesn’t seem as common. I know money is an obvious reason for the differences, but still, have any of the women’s basketball programs been in this kind of trouble?

  17. Baylor basically has home court tomorrow, the arena won’t be empty like it was Saturday. It’ll be interesting to see how many fans attend, how loud it is, how the Beavs handle it.

    • Beavs aren’t used to having a large crowd against them so we cannot be certain how they will handle it. Here’s hoping they are able to use it as motivation, I think the experience of Rueck and the starters makes that likely.
If Jamie is bottled up (likely, ie: under 12pts) someone besides Syd and Ruth is gonna have to outdo their average. McWilliams could get hot or Hunter could go wild with 3’s as she did vs Stanford. Maybe Marie?

      • Not true at all. They played at Tennessee last year which was 11,000+ and played at Notre Dame this year which was ~9000. Not to mention playing UDub (a Final Four team my goodness I can’t believe) in the Pac-12 tourney in Seattle. So recency tells me they have experience with a large crowd against them.

        • I respect your opinion, but, as they say, “the exception proves the rule”.

As the team with the conference leading attendance average, and from listening to their comments about fan support, I remain convinced that this team thrives on having a large and loud fan base on hand.

Those games you cite are a big part of why I said it’s likely they respond well; that and Rueck’s experience both at OSU and George Fox.
          GO BEAVS!

      • I’m thinking the “Big 3” are all going to have to have good/great games for the Beavers to prevail. I think Wiese needs to break out and have an 18-20 pt. game, which is going to mean she’s going to have to shoot it well from 3. She’s a streaky shooter, and she needs to be on in this one. Weisner probably isn’t going to go off like she did against DePaul so the others will have to ratchet their games up. Baylor seems to be the kind of team that has given OSU troubles in the past (long, athletic) so they’re going to have to play a mostly mistake free game to win. On the plus side, OSU’s been playing better than they have all season, and this is a seasoned, veteran team–so as far as the Final Four goes–if not now…when? Too bad they aren’t going up against a 4 or 5 seed though. I’m picking the Beavs, but I’m also not going to be too surprised if their run ends here either.
