Heading to Reser in a few hours, hoping to see lots of OSU’s younger players in action during the second half of today’s scrimmage against Nicholls State.
It could be a distracting environment, with an 11:30 start, small crowd, and light opponent. This team needs to take care of business, and look good doing it.
Mannion and Vaz need to be efficient and accurate in the first half, land a few bombs for six to give Cooks and Wheaton a little exercise, and there’s plenty of yards for Woods.
The defense needs to be focused and looking to pitch a shutout, and that there should be attention to execution everywhere, no dumb penalties, etc.
Then, I hope Harrington and Wards take over the second half by mid-third quarter, and there’s about 15-20 pass attempts for Harrington to provide a chance for evaluation, and lots of running by Ward.
This might be an opportunity to improve the kick return game and give some other players more of a chance too.
The game today against Nicholls St. doesn’t do much for me. If we are lucky enough to see Harrington and other new players in action, that would be a plus…….I’ll believe it when I see it.
As far as bowl games go I believe we have the player talent to beat any team we come up against. In reality, under Mike Riley, which prospective opponents do you think we have a chance of defeating? Texas, Oklahoma State……………?????????
oSu with a spread offense? Unlikely. They’d get outcoached.
I admit I’m not too familiar with Texas, but think they could beat Texas with nearly a month to prepare. The dome (if Alamo bowl) should be good for Cooks/Wheaton, Woods getting back to Texas.
I like the Alamo Bowl for the recruiting relationships it could strengthen.
This type of game is OK in early September. Hot dry weather, have a few cold ones before the game, stick around for an hour or two after.
I’m just not up for watching a scrimmage dressed like an astronaut. Home by the fire knocking off the conference championship games. Nothing to accomplish today other than avoiding an end of season injury. JB
I am hoping in honor of you that Mannion runs the triple option on the first play of the game, understanding that he may very well trip over his own feet and fumble.
Thank you.. that would be a great honor. Maybe they would give me the game ball immediately after the play?? My favorite part of the triple option is the pitch into thin air. Tripping is funny but not as exciting. JB
I’m hoping they let us move down at the game because there are going to be a lot of open seats and I’m in sec 213 row 12 and have been there all years so I’d think they’d let me have a better seat for one game ;)
The Reser Gestapo is one reason I don’t attend as many games anymore. Gill may even be worse. Last year I went to one of the TV games and with the sparse crowd the gestapo in the nose bleed seats were encouraging fans to move down so that the crowd looked good on TV but when we attempted to take a seat behind the basket we were kicked out. I guess there’s good gestapo and bad gestapo.
Heading to Reser momentarily. Weather looks surprisingly good. Expect OSU to establish early and decisive superiority on the line of scrimmage, to start by running the ball down the throat of Nicholls State in the first quarter, and then to open up the downfield passing game. The Beavs should dominate from the outset, and should hand over the game to Richie Harrington and the younger players early in the second half. Anything less will be a disappointment….
This is our Pac 12 Championship game. How many interceptions will Mannion have with that windup throwing motion that’s never been corrected by our great QB coach?
does anybody have our sack totals the last five or so games? I watched a little bit of the replay of the Ucla game from Sept. and we were getting alot of pressure on the QB. Lately, it seems like we have not gotten any sacks. I remember one against Stanford, none against UW, but I don’t know what we got against Asu or Cal. I would suspect that the sack totals have been very little in the last few games?
As someone who loves bikes and rides everyday, I say replay every commercial break. I’m trying to figure out where the shot is. Is it by the park along the creek?
I’d like to see Vaz play the first series in the second half and then turn the game over to Harrington. Why even the TV guys mentioned Harrington. But MR says Mannion to come back in the second half and no mention of Harrington. WHY?

Looking good that Oregon State gets the Alamo Bowl invite! Like to see them get 56+ points today and get either Texas or Oklahoma St. in San Antonio. That game will be a big one for the program and continue to land us more Southwest recruits. :)
Baylor was beating Okla.State. Will a loss change where the Cowboys end up.. I’d like to see how the Beavers stacked up against the Baylor. I read somewhere that Baylor had 10 three and outs all year after 10 games, but they’ve turned it over a lot.
Okie State would be cool. It would be the “Orange Bowl.” I ended up in Corvallis because of my sister, who got a teaching job at OSU. She got her doctorate at the other orange OSU in Stillwater.
I’d like to see all the confusion if the Beavs play oSu. Like in the hoops game last night, the called them Oklahoma State. I remember in a pregame dramatic intro a couple years ago during a basketball game on FSN they flashed the Oklahoma State logo across the screen.
It’s first or second down play to me. It’s not a high percentage throw. Has to be perfect so often. Coaches always go to it on third and 4th down for whatever reason despite logic telling them it’s not likely to work.
Do you think our attendance record of 8 people demotes us to the Holiday Bowl? I was listening to Parker talk about it before the game and he said something to the effect of, “I’m surprised how many people showed up, it’s about half full in the sections below us.”
Not many do, doesn’t need to have great speed. Cooks provides that. Mullaney runs great routes and has great hands. He’s going to put up some nice #’s in his career.
Seastrunk has done well. He made a comment about being at a school where he is actually supported the other day. I thought that was a nice shot at precious U of O.
I thought Vaz threw better balls today. Mannion’s throws were all bad but we have great receivers to make up for it. Vaz was hitting receivers in stride. I say start Vaz with a short leash.
Vaz did throw that quick hitch to the sideline that would have been a pick six with P-12 DB’s though. It went right through the Nicholls defender into Cummings hands. I kind of like Vaz better overall, but I have these uneasiness that neither of them are the answer next season.
First thing I noticed about that game is how badly Alabama thoroughly dominated most of the plays throughout the game.
That said, the SEC has a penchant for recruiting stupid players, and not teaching them clutch situations. Case in point: Connor Shaw against LSU. Usually, throwing to Marcus Lattimore for an easy 7 yards and a couple tough YAC is a good idea.
Not when you have 35 seconds left on the clock. Similarly in this situation, the throw was to the end zone. It was tipped, which made it land shy of the EZ. For some reason, Conley caught it. Bad idea. Do they teach QB/WR’s/RB’s these things in the SEC? because it seems like the OL has it figured out…
That said, spiking the ball would have probably been a better option at that point, and the point before, but I suppose that simply is not UGA’s style.
Anyone watch the end of Bama/Georgia? At least Riley isn’t the only coach who can’t manage the clock in key situations. Georgia should have had three shots at the endzone and they end up with a 4 yard out pattern to end the game?
That kind of strategy doesn’t deserve a shot at the NC, but I’m so sick of Alabama, I just wanted Georgia to win for some variation. In hindsight, I did not enjoy the Mike Shula era of Bama football as much as I should have. Oh joy, another SEC national champion on the horizon.
he was throwing to the receiver that was in the end zone. The ball was tipped at the LOS and the receiver that ran the shorter route caught it. He would have been better off not catching it and they would have had at least one more play. But receivers aren’t taught to not catch the ball. That’s the way it goes sometimes. Busted play that ended up just that.
I didn’t catch the tipping of the ball, Georgia shouldn’t of even had a player running a flat route on the play, no point in it. All options should have been endzone and a smart QB would just throw the ball away for one last play if everything was completely covered.
I really don’t care how smart Chip Kelly is or how good Oregon is at their read option brand of “football”. I’d MUCH rather watch SEC ball as just exhibited by Georgia and Alabama. Well done.

UGA screwed the pooch at the end. The lines on both teams are HUGE.
Guess I will hold my nose and root for Bama. Have to deal with quite a few Domers around
here and they are already insufferable. Besides they have much cuter coeds.
Wisconsin destroying Nebraska will put Oregon State easily comfortably ahead of UCLA in the final BCS standings. With KSU beating Texas, I see the Horns in the Cotton Bowl and OSU vs oSu in the Alamo Bowl! If not the Beavers are getting stiffed.
I hate to say it but oregon would rape kansas st quicker than ben roethlisberger on a 17 year old girl in a nightclub restroom. And Texass is overrated as shit.
ok, well, knowledgable one. That’s a pretty serious charge you’re putting on someone you don’t know who adamantly denies he “raped” anyone. Not to mention putting the word “Rape” in his name.
not the first time he’s been accused of said behavior either. Like the old saying goes, a tiger doesn’t change its stripes. You can believe what you wish to believe though.
no, no really, rape is funny! I’m sure Ben thought it was too when he was doing it multiple times like everyone said he was. Like all the media said he was.
I’d say if Beavs get Alamo Bowl they will most likely play Texas. If we don’t get Alamo Bowl than the powers to be don’t have any respect for Mike Riley and OSU.
Cotton Bowl gets the first pick of the Big-12 after the BCS. K-State and OU will be off the board. They will choose the Longhorns. Oklahoma State will be the pick for the Alamo. Bank on it. Now its a matter of who they view as a better matchup. Beavs or FUCLA?
Depends if Northern Illinois makes a BCS game. They’ll jump ahead of Boise State, Michigan, Texas and Kent State. If they jump UCLA, NIU goes to Orange Bowl, Oklahoma goes to the Cotton Bowl and Texas goes to Alamo Bowl.
Here is why I I feel it will be OSU vs OSU. Both teams have very strong claims to be the clear choice from their conferences. OK State is better by one win than all the teams below them and beat the next possible teams soundly. Same is true with OSU and UCLA. UCLA finished with a dud by losing twice and have 4 overall losses and Oregon State didn’t just beat them. We beat them soundly on the Road. Kerouac Style. As long as Texas goes Cotton to play Georgia, as they should because they have our one notch above OK State in the standings then all else definitely deserves to fall into place for a Battle of the OSUs.
Texas politics doesn’t want Texas vs Texas A&M in the Cotton because neither wants to lose that game. Texas vs Georgia is a strong draw after how close Georgia came last night. But after that literally star after star has alligned for both OSUs to the Alamo. Both are the deserving teams to be in that slot by multiple and practicaly all measures of team performance. Many feel strongly that Oregon State would be the team if there is an OK State selection. And OK State fans were hoping for the Cotton before losing yesterday in a fairly close game. They are definitely the obvious choice now for the Alamo if Texas is off the board as seems likely. When that much aligns for it to be OSU vs OSU, it better be, as on both conference sides the story is very similar and the OSUs are clearly most deserving. The universe wants the Battle of the OSUs!
“Holiday Bowl selection committee co-chairman Larry Baber, who was also in Corvallis, said if the Beavers are available, his bowl game will pick the Beavers.
“It’s in the Alamo Bowl’s hands,” Baber said. “We’ve wanted to have Oregon State in our game for a long time.”
The Alamo Bowl has the first pick of Pacific-12 Conference bowl-eligible teams after the Bowl Championship Series game selections. The Holiday Bowl gets the next pick.
“What we’ve heard from the Alamo Bowl is they were leaning toward UCLA early in the week, and I don’t think (the Bruins) did anything in the Pac-12 title game to change that,” Baber said.”
If I were selecting for the Alamo bowl, it seems like a UCLA-oSu shootout would be good viewing.
Nice to see some adjustments in the backfield and Ward getting some time at FB. Again, from the G-T:
“Backup running back Terron Ward learned the fullback playbook this week and played some at the position against Nicholls State.
Ward took the place of Tyler Anderson, who injured a knee against California on Nov. 17, and is out for the season.”
Gossip for today. Someone tweeted that a Holiday bowl rep jabbed MR with something like, “maybe you can come back to San Diego and win a football game.”
Which back-ups impressed (with opponent quality factored in) yesterday? Did Skotte look good? I expect we’ll see more of him next year. Was Singler fast/quick, or was the “white lightening” remark above sarcasm?
SS, do you have any observations you’re going to share?
Any chance MR goes with more two back sets next year, using Woods/Brown at TB and Ward/Anderson/Balfour at FB? Unlikely. The use of Ward at FB was probably only a stopgap measure with the bowl in mind. Something new for oSu or whoever to plan for, maybe or maybe not used much in the bowl. Anyway, Ward has outclassed Woods lately.
Looking forward to SS’s observations on DL and OL prospects as well.
The only one that stuck out in my view was Akuna. He looks like he was worried more about growing hair, than growing talent on the field. Looked fat, slow and out of place(due to said slowness)
Singler has looked great in every spring game I’ve ever attended. Nicholls State was no different. We need to get him on the field before he graduates.
Similarly, Micah Audiss was probably the defensive star of last spring game, and had a pick with a nice return on Saturday w/ many broken arm tackles. Wouldn’t mind seeing more of him next year…
Mullaney looked good. Gwachum looked bad, although he did get a TD. Hatfield looks…servicable. Seems fairly solid but he just doesn’t seem all that special to me. Career backup?
Klute had a impressive catch on a bad Vaz throw that was unfortunately out of bounds (uncatchable). Looked shaky on other plays as I recall. Caleb Smith had no targets.
Our backup linebackers looked very forgettable from what I saw, although Skotte did make a play or two.
“Others receiving votes: …Texas 51, … Oklahoma St. 15, TCU 14, …, West Virginia 1.” Texas Tech, no votes.
oSu and WV have the ability to light it up and don’t look like good match-ups for Banker – though watching Geno would be fun. TCU and TT just doesn’t sound compelling to me but I haven’t followed their seasons at all. Texas and oSu look like the best potential games.
Also, good to see Kiffin and USC on the “others receiving votes” list. Haden is wasting time by not jettisoning him sooner rather than later.
Too bad OSU ends regular season 15th and end up with an unranked opponent in a bowl.
I had a surprisingly good time at the game, my second of the season. Spent most of the game chatting with a few couples from around Oregon, my club section was almost empty. I will be attending the bowl if the Beavs head to the Holiday, for some reason I can’t justify going to a non-BCS bowl if I’m not also going for business or visiting family.
Most stuff will leak out prior to the show. People are claiming here in the twin cities that it is confirmed
that the Goph’s are playing Baylor in the(historic) Meinike Car Care Bowl in Houston.
Not much to say about the game after that debacle. A couple of random musings:
I saw in the paper that Stone is retiring…how about retiring that stupid “That’s another Beaver first down” announcement with him. Very high school.
While we’re at it. I watched the Nevada-Boise State game for a while yesterday. I noticed that Nevada also has an “awesome” inflatable helmet. Time to let that air out of that bad-boy once and for all. Put it in the parking lot for the kids to play in pre-game.
If we are in fact a big time perennial top 20 program let’s ditch the high school type affectations. JB
I still remember laughing at some remark you made about fan’s hopes deflating like the Beavers helmet…agreed the kid’s pre-game is a good destination. So silly to watch players push open the facemask and run out.
It appears every projection has Oregon State in the Alamo Bowl now. Being far ahead in the polls, especially in the coaches at #14, over Ucla (#19), should seal it for Oregon St. Only question left is will NIU edge into #16 in the BCS or just miss it? Oregon St. will be in excellent shape in the BCS with Wisconsin looking great. Should be #14. If NIU squeezes in by the slimmest of margins then OSU will take on Texas. The consensus at this time is that since Oregon St. is ranked well ahead of everyone else being considered, they deserve to be invited no matter who they play. If NIU just misses we still get an awesome OSU vs oSu showdown. It will be razor close tonight on our opponent but Oregon State is the hands down deserving #1 pick for the Alamo Bowl and is the only team which guarantees that the winner of the game will finish in the Top 20 after the bowl games. Beating Texas or OSU gives Oregon State a good chance to finish in the Top 12. :)
SI reporter says NIU is in the BCS. That would bump Oklahoma to the Cotton and Texas would fall to the Alamo. If true I think Alamo takes UCLA and we drop to the Holiday. Probably against Texas Tech or Baylor.
NOT SO FAST!!! Most projections taking NIU to Orange Bowl into consideration have Texas vs Oregon State in the Alamo Bowl. OSU did too much and finished too high in the polls to not get the Alamo selection if a #16 team gets a BCS Bowl and every other team in Alamo consideration is far behind them. OSU likely will be both #14 in the BCS and Coaches and #15 in the AP.
those are just predictions. I thought I read last night that Alamo said they would take FUCLA if they got Texas for TV ratings. I do hope you are right though. Would love a shot at Texas. We owe them big time.
Baylor is in Holiday, it appears OSU is headed to Holiday from what I’ve read. That would suck, hopefully I will be surprised and they’ll be in the Alamo Bowl, but we all know Luck ‘O’ the Beavs
No, you don’t understand Beaver Byte, no one is more deserving of Alamo Bowl…I could totally see Alamo taking UCLA for the matchup of UCLA’s impressive offense and the tv market. Holiday would be very happy with OSU.
Seastrunk finally gets a run at OSU….the way the run D has been playing, he could have a big game.
“@ChrisLevel For those wondering about Baylor, my info tells me you all are headed to San Diego for the Holiday Bowl. #Big12”
And OSU can go to either Alamo or Holiday, just get the feeling it’s the Holiday. Alamo Bowl wants UCLA cause of LA market. I hope they choose OSU, but I doubt they will.
This is the silver anniversary of Terry Baker’s Heisman season. Oregon State earned the right to play in the Alamo Bowl more than any other team. This is not a year to get screwed in bowl selection. There will be plenty of other opportunities for that. The 50th anniversary and this team deserve a very special game. Texas vs Oregon State is the perfect ending for a once in 50 years occasion. A win over Texas would make this a magical and long remembered season in Oregon State lore.
Heading to Reser in a few hours, hoping to see lots of OSU’s younger players in action during the second half of today’s scrimmage against Nicholls State.

Gameday decision… staying home.
JB
the weather will not be that bad in 50ish and rain will hold off until 3ish
Thanks Al Roker….. still too wet and cold for a cranky old man.
I hate it when my polyester slacks and tight sweater vest get soaked, plus my goofy glasses get all steamed up. JB
I am hoping in honor of you that Mannion runs the triple option on the first play of the game, understanding that he may very well trip over his own feet and fumble.

Who, the Reser Gestapo? it’s not like the old days……….
they do have a number to snitch on folks so you might be right
The Reser Gestapo is one reason I don’t attend as many games anymore. Gill may even be worse. I would like Nicholls to score the first touchdown, so we all have something to bitch about here for at least 15 minutes!
Heading to Reser momentarily. Weather looks surprisingly good. Where is everyone?
In Minneapolis.
stream for today??
This is our Pac 12 Championship game. How many interceptions will Mannion have with that windup throwing motion that’s never been corrected by our great QB coach?
Amen! How can a coaches’ kid throw like that?
Run it more
I’d like to see Woods go for over 200 yds and get 1,000 for the season
This should be run game training session. Try to not throw it.
There is nobody in the stadium!
Other than family and friends, who would go?
I thought Gopher fans were bad.
does anybody have our sack totals the last five or so games? I watched a little bit of the replay of the Ucla game from Sept. and we were getting alot of pressure on the QB. Lately, it seems like we have not gotten any sacks. I remember one against Stanford, none against UW, but I don’t know what we got against Asu or Cal. I would suspect that the sack totals have been very little in the last few games?
Maybe the D is a little tired. It’s been a long time since we’ve had a week off. Early in the season the offense was dominating time of possession.
Agnew should get some work.
Another low throw by Sean.
Is nobody in the chat?
The fresh Prince.
Looks like a decent day there.
Romaine is 2-2 PAT. I think Romaine will be the best PK in the PAC-12 next year.
Drinking a big ass beer. Go Beavs!
Now you know why Murphy isn’t a receiver
Missed int.
Ducks would be up by 50 by now LOL.
As it should be, Beavs lead TOP 10:48 to 4:12 and 163 yds vs. 30 yds and on the scoreboard 14-0 at the end of the 1stQ
Another constant, a missed open field tackle by #13
Yup
Is he a senior?
Angry’s fav LB misses tackle
How the hell did Pankey get on the field?
Rueben Robinson with the whiff on the tackle. Classic #13
LOL, can’t believe we ALL noted that!
When you are the only player on a Top 20 who doesn’t look like a division one player you tend to stick out.
How bad are our backups if he is still getting major minutes?
Not sure I’d be very happy if my name was Klann.
Took me a second. Guess I was Klueless?
Wouldn’t be a Beaver game without Robinson whiffing and falling down on an easy tackle to set up a big game.
Classic: I see a defensive player whiff, wait for the replay to confirm who it was. Shouldn’t have bothered.
*big gain
Someone put a cup on that punter.
Time for Ward to pound it in.
That’s what she said.
Chris Berman is still surprisingly agile for his age, he closed the gap on Cummings in an impressive manner.
So Cooks must be sitting this one out?
He had a catch earlier.
Enough with the MR riding his bike stuff
Riley on his bike again lol
As someone who loves bikes and rides everyday, I say replay every commercial break. I’m trying to figure out where the shot is. Is it by the park along the creek?
Have not seen him.
Riley always bundles up like he’s a old man who is always cold. Trust me, it’s not that cold in the Willamette Valley today.
Funny, little woman just said he looks like an old man.
I swear he’s walking more and more “stooped” over the last few years.
His right eye has looked puffy a lot of the time the last couple years. My friend thinks he has some chronic health issue.
A lot of people turn into weather wimps if they live in the Valley long enough.
Hans like Oboooom.
Hands
Ham hands?
Big ass beer hands!
That was a pretty bad throw
Wow, almost like they are trying to get Wheaton some stats today.
He needs to sit. No injuries.
8 catches for 89 yds today
Nice run by Ward
Not a fan of the wax lips mouthguards.
Angry is getting increased blood flow to his loins with the thought of an appearance by Ritchie
Harrington.
2nd string D in??
Nice tackling.
Did you see Unga flatten that tackle?
Need more chainsaw!
I gotta fever!
Nice move by Ward.
I need some Mullaney (I think I have a man crush)
I don’t know if someone does FCS team ratings/rankings, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Nicholls is one of the worst this year in the country.
So Wheaton must be after the school record, now 1 away.
Sit his ass down. I want win the bowl game.
I guess that’s the only reason to play this game, Wheaton has had a nice career at OSU. Now I hope he has a monster bowl game.
Amen
He would look great in Packer green and gold.
Where’s Cooks? 1 catch, 7 yards?
I think his knee was hurting all week.
Angry lives!
Nickles State must feel how we feel against the ucks every year.
I don’t care that these Beavs had less experience last year…..how in the hell did they lose to Sacremento State???
Excellent question.
The first time that question was asked in here.
They are playing Mich. State in B-ball today. Rough day.
Has Mana Rosa played?
No,the OSU band does not know that song
Not a bad half for Wheaton, 12 catches for 123 yds and a TD.
I’d like to see Vaz play the first series in the second half and then turn the game over to Harrington. Why even the TV guys mentioned Harrington. But MR says Mannion to come back in the second half and no mention of Harrington. WHY?
Sometimes coaches hold their cards close to their chest.
Angry just went limp, but I still think Harrington is in there in the 4th.
Angry goes limp with MR news that Harrington’s entry will be delayed.
Demented minds think alike!
Poor flaccid angry
Indeed.
So true!
I didn’t realize this until a few days ago, but Nicholls plays the Ducks in Autzen first game of the year.
Ducks will try and drop a hundred on them. I like the Beavs non con schedule for next season, should be 3-0 start
I don’t think you can pencil in SDSU on the road as a W. Rocky Long is a damn good coach and the young QB is getting all kinds of experience since Katz got injured.
Riley is “appreciative” that the players practiced hard and he is “glad” they aren’t letting the Ducks game affect them.
He probably didn’t want to comment on the game directly because you might sound like a tool when you’re demolishing the other team.
That’s a neat deal.
I gotta bitch about something.
People who are speculating about the state of my erection: be careful what you ask for, I might just start to tell you.
Just don’t show us!
YIKES!
Erection talk would not be “neat” or “good stuff” says Coach Riley.
You might find your identity though.
First step to a “family” atmosphere.
Apparently that “deal” already went down (reference Jovan Stevenson).
I wonder how often he gets invited over for supper?
Beaverjuice
Yeah, but who would “appreciative”?
We should get to see Harrington soon…mid-third quarter on?
Maybe lots of Ward, Agnew. Mullaney, and the second string LBs (except Robinson) would be great.
Want to see 2nd string O and D line.
Could Robinson play for Nicholls in the 2nd half?
Not good enough.
In the past, I have hated Rick Neweasel. But I have to admit, he is growing on me since he has been announcing. He comes off a smart and likeable.
I was just going to ask, remind now why I should dislike the weasel?
He’s been giving the Beav’s love all season.
I’m jealous.
Weasel is a “weasel” as a head coach, but he is a passionate P-12 supporter in the media. I guess he thinks someone is going to give him another job?
Proof that Romaine can just kick it out of the endzone, he’s done it his last 2 attempts
Who thought he couldn’t?
Bruce Read
He should go so we can keep Bray.
Why is Poyer in?
Poyer’s Christmas came early.
Time to sit.
Mannion is in the game for some reason
To set the INT record
Why didn’t Poyer go down the sideline. Shit, I thought he was going to get injured in that pile-up.
I’m with ya.
Shocking drop by Oboooooooooooom.
Mullaney’s first TD?
Think so.
I’ve always hated the fade as a 4th down play, it’s so do or die. It amounted to practice in this game, but I don’t want to see it when it counts.
It’s first or second down play to me. It’s not a high percentage throw. Has to be perfect so often. Coaches always go to it on third and 4th down for whatever reason despite logic telling them it’s not likely to work.
They should give serious reps to Caleb Smith. Sort of a wasted year for him.
WTF is Mannion in? MR looks like a dick playing him this late.
Taking lessons from the chipster
I wish.
Just cementing his reputation as an a-hole.
Haha. The most hated coach in CFB.
This team is playing stupid. No wonder they suck.
Nice guy Riley is really rubbin it in.
OK, can we see the Harrington/Ward/Mullaney show now?!?
What happened to Vaz, tweak ankle again?
If any more starters play, MR should have to undergo brain injury evaluation.
What would we be saying about the ‘ucks and chip if they were running it up like this?
Just another Civil War?
LOL!!!
“Riley needs to learn from Chip, don’t let up and step on the other teams throat.”
nice to see Skotte getting PT
2nd team D sucks
Nice to see the backups giving up huge yardage
Nicholis State is showing us just how thin the OSU D really is.
D1 level players on the first team but after than yikes.
Lucky there were no significant injury problems on D this year.
Lucky there were no significant injury problems on D this year.
Slow to learn and slow to run?
The phrase “no depth” is coming to mind.
Do you think our attendance record of 8 people demotes us to the Holiday Bowl? I was listening to Parker talk about it before the game and he said something to the effect of, “I’m surprised how many people showed up, it’s about half full in the sections below us.”
Rosa’s name callled!
My man!
Re: Nicholls coach….I thought Jim Varney was dead? Ernest?
Earnest goes to football camp.
Akuna looks really slow.
What #
55
Smith time.
Mike Riley reads this site and purposefully not gonna let Harrington play to annoy Angry.
Starters playing = Top 15 in the BCS
Backups playing = Last place in the Southland Conference
YIKES!
That applies to defense. Our 2nd team offence has some guys who can play.
MR is fucking with Angry. Getting even for the blog. Harrington gets one kneel-down to end the game
The telecasters just said they’re excited to see him.
Boners abound.
Harrington is a fluffer.
Klute!
JackBeav has a boner.
Stop that dirty talk.
Mullaney is going to be really good
He’s the freakish love child of Mike Hass and Shane Morales.
Good reference…he does remind me of Shane Morales. Is there another burner to compliment Cooks at all next year?
Potentially Bolden, if he can play as a true FR. Not as fast as Wheaton, but probably will be second behind Cooks.
Mullaney might not replace Wheaton but he’s looking pretty good
Does not have the world class speed. Wheat is awesome.
Not many do, doesn’t need to have great speed. Cooks provides that. Mullaney runs great routes and has great hands. He’s going to put up some nice #’s in his career.
We were lucky to have 2 guys that explosive. Hope one of the frosh are close.
Oh shit! Angry’s viagra is getting ready on the sidelines.
Yes! The bike shot.
Enough with the bike.
That was a risky throw. Should’ve been dropped.
Wasn’t Obum supposed to bat that ball down at the goal line? What the hell is going on?
He screwed up.
Thanks Angry, if it weren’t for this blog I wouldn’t be watching this game.
I second that.
Is every network required to kiss the Ducks ass?
Yes. Nike has spoken.
I do not know my son, he just switched off the Alabama/Georgia game to watch the Galaxy/Dynamo MLS final. Damn Eurosport!!!
You are a bad parent.
Yes, but I did take the “beer helmet” from him.
Is that a toilet bowl cleaner competition?
Haha
Baylor over oSu and Seastrunk with 179 yds on 16 carries. And all those duck fans said good ridence when he left. Dumb asses
Dude is fast. He outran the defense for 50 yards with a pulled hammy.
Seastrunk has done well. He made a comment about being at a school where he is actually supported the other day. I thought that was a nice shot at precious U of O.
So are any Angrybeavs going to the bowl game?
Holiday, yes. Alamo maybe
I am if it’s the Alamo bowl… only a 4 hour drive away for me.
Me and the wife or son will be there.
Singler’s first catch?
We should be running every play. Did this guy somehow piss off MR?
Might not have been Jovan Stevenson after all..
Agnew with a fumble, really?
Shocker………..fumble by Agnew.
And thus we see why Agnew doesn’t play much.
Vaz had his helmet off between series, I thought it was a sign.
Flirting with his female fans.
2nd and 4 “deal”….wtf???? Are Calabro and Riley sharing a headset?
I thought the same.
Klute!
nice to see Jenkins get a TD. Hard worker.
He lost his third down back gig this year, so nice to see a reward.
Richie is gonna have to start givin blowjobs on the sidelines to get in this game.
Allllrighty then
Angry’s secret plan.
The Ducks will score 200 on these guys.
*Schwing*
Climax baby!!!!!!!!!!
That was the best handoff……………….ever.
My screen just got cloudy. Angry, use a kleenex for christs sake.
Hamlett would’ve have had the catch!
All Pac-12 special teams player probably going to need surgery.
If that’s the only injury today…
Serious note…why the hell was he running the ball? Agnew needed the work anyway.
Bruce Read said that he really didn’t need him on ST
To get injured for the bowl game of course.
Agnew’s shoe came off, so Jenkins came in to kill a few plays while Agnew fixed his shoe.
Harrington sucks…Jenkins injured, over throws Klute, delay of game…..I can see why Angry loves him, perfect Beaver!
Yet another example of OSU quarterbacks not receiving good coaching?
That was Katz in a Harrington jersey. Rumor is Riley’s on it, and we”ll see the real Harrington next drive.
A lot of first time TDs today.
Another note on the 3-9 to 9-3 turnaround:
Last year’s began with a loss to an FCS team, this year concludes with a blowout of an FCS. See, Riley can do a complete 180!
Riley better not be talking about how he’d like a better run-pass balance after this game. Unless it’s TD’s where it’s 5-5.
Boy that was stupid.
I feel so bad for Nicholls State
Meh………..they get their paycheck.
And they come back next year for their first game and more of the same…but in, like one half.
Don’t feel too bad for Nicholls, they laid 70 some points on a NAIA school. Turnabout is fair play!
It’s nice that Riley agreed to let Obum play kick returner for Nicholls.
Pac-12 refs lol
Refs, “sorry we f’d up. If you coached in the league you would be used to it.”
How in the hell did that Beaver lose the ball after he had it completely encircled? Good thing Stricherz is not the ref.
Are all the backups in on the O-line?
Yup.
Pac-12 refs are the best. I have to be honest, if that went against the Beavers in a meaningful game I would have thrown the t.v out the window.
Singler= white lightning
So this is what it feels like to be a Duck fan? I could get used to this.
This is what it’s like in the first half of a Duck game.
The more backups that come in, the whiter our team is getting.
Yet ironically, much faster.
That is very funny.
I feel like it kills Romaine to go an entire game without missing an extra point, FG or kicking a ball out of bounds
He is saving himself for the bowl game. Don’t you worry yourself.
Harrah with a sack?!? Blake “my-dad-played-in-the-nfl” Harrah sees the field?
Maybe that’s mean, injuries kept him off?
school record for points, pretty good day with 11 TDs on 11 possessions
Our 685 yards of offense today is still 45 yards less than what the Ducks put up against USC.
Wow. And that was against USC.
Damn, we won’t see any more Harrington. He looked great, as usual, on that second drive.
Marable almost with a pick 6
Damn.
How many “hip hip hoorays” in the locker room today? 77?
Throw the bomb!
take a knee for crying out loud
Who the heck intercepted that? Was that the ball boy?
Audiss.
He looked great in the spring game last year. Wouldn’t mind seeing more of him next year.
“Neat” and “good stuff”
Angry. Thanks again for not going Dr. Kevorkian on the web site.
Go Beavs!
Are you kidding? A pass on the last play of the game leading 77-3. Damn Mike, I’m impressed.
That was bizarre. Was is trying to get that receiver a reception or something?
MR’s evil side coming out.
Hey, we paid this team to be here. We should get every last play/practice we desire from this game. Why waste money by going conservative?
So if the bowl game was tomorrow who would you start at quarterback?
I liked Vaz better today.
Mannion almost looks like he’s being “coached” on his mechanics or release and it’s got him all wobbly and fucked up.
Mannion looked a little better today, though both looked very good. I’d play Mannion with a short leash.
Still like Ward better than Storm too; Ward just runs with fire, plowing people over, hitting holes with force, and he’s healthy. Just a gamer.
Agree on Ward. He really runs smart and uses his blockers. Then hits the hole hard and drags the pile.
Harrington. It’s a no brainer.
Georgia should’ve killed the clock and then would’ve had two shots to the endzone
Totally, why on earth wouldn’t they have spiked the ball?
Well done.
Well done.

UGA screwed the pooch at the end. The lines on both teams are HUGE.
Guess I will hold my nose and root for Bama. Have to deal with quite a few Domers around
here and they are already insufferable. Besides they have much cuter coeds.
Nebraska is getting their asses handed to them. I’m ready to projectile vomit.
Wisconsin currently helping the Beavs strength of schedule.
Beavers like getting stiffed.
article I read says the alamo bowl will prolly take FUCLA if they get Texas from the big-12. To them the matchup is the most important thing.
I hate to say it but oregon would rape kansas st quicker than ben roethlisberger on a 17 year old girl in a nightclub restroom. And Texass is overrated as shit.
She was 20, BR was never charged with anything, and Oregon and KSU both play contact-avoidant weenie ball.
Rapelisberger is still a douche nozzle. Kobe Bryant was never convicted of anything either. And OJ got off too. Doesn’t make them any less guilty.
He was never charged. C-H-A-R-G-E-D.
spoken like a steelers fan. broken record
ok, well, knowledgable one.
Like all the media said he was.
its funnier if you say it twice like this. rape rape.
Well, I think he got off because they couldn’t determine whether it was a legitimate rape or the other kind.
I’d say if Beavs get Alamo Bowl they will most likely play Texas. If we don’t get Alamo Bowl than the powers to be don’t have any respect for Mike Riley and OSU.
Texas is going to Cotton Bowl. I’d say 85% odds they do. I think it will be Oregon State-Oklahoma State in Alamo
Hoping for Alamo.
Remember the ……….
From what I read Alamo wants a Texas school and UCLA for the L.A. market. But if Ok St, then maybe it will be an orange/black bowl.
Depends if Northern Illinois makes a BCS game. They’ll jump ahead of Boise State, Michigan, Texas and Kent State. If they jump UCLA, NIU goes to Orange Bowl, Oklahoma goes to the Cotton Bowl and Texas goes to Alamo Bowl.
.
From the G-T:
I too am hoping for a report from SS.
Singler looked good. No sarcasm with prior remark.
Looks like none of the prospective opponents for either bowl will be in the top 25?
http://www.oregonlive.com/collegefootball/index.ssf/2012/12/ap_college_football_poll_orego_4.html
“Hayden is wasting time….” and all the Vols nodded in agreement!
Keep wasting.
At what time will the bowl selections be announced?
TIA
Hmmm, “TIA” was “This is Africa” in “Blood Diamond.”
“This is AngryBeavs?”
The BCS bowl selection show is on ESPN starting at 5:30 PST so I would imagine the rest of the bowls will announce immediately thereafter.
Most stuff will leak out prior to the show. People are claiming here in the twin cities that it is confirmed
that the Goph’s are playing Baylor in the(historic) Meinike Car Care Bowl in Houston.
You go to the game Jason?
And Purdue to the Heart of Dallas bowl. Suck on that, Pizza Bowl!
A New Year’s Day 9:00 a.m. west coast hangover game.
I did not go to the Nicholls st game, but will go to the bowl game.
I’m not booking any flights until it is announced though.
JB
Inflatable Beaver as a replacement? Can buy them on the net……………at least that’s what Jason told me.
I still remember laughing at some remark you made about fan’s hopes deflating like the Beavers helmet…agreed the kid’s pre-game is a good destination. So silly to watch players push open the facemask and run out.
Stone’s announcement is “It is….. an O. S. Uuuuuuu. First Down!” and it is done that way to set up the band’s 1st down arm-chop thing for the fans.
Stilly dorky regardless of the precise wording. JB
Ever been to a pro game or any other college game? Every single one of them has a ‘dorky’ chat.
Thanks for the info Jason.
A deja vu moment – Hekker just shanked a 14 yard punt in OT giving the 49ers excellent field position.
Seriously?
Yup. Rams still won it but I would imagine Hekker’s value to the team just took a hit.
SI reporter says NIU is in the BCS. That would bump Oklahoma to the Cotton and Texas would fall to the Alamo. If true I think Alamo takes UCLA and we drop to the Holiday. Probably against Texas Tech or Baylor.
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2012/writers/pete_thamel/12/02/orange-bowl-northern-illinois/index.html
Texas vs Oregon State (Alamo Bowl):
http://www.sbnation.com/bowl-games-2012-2013/2012/11/25/3687856/bowl-projections-2012-national-championship
those are just predictions. I thought I read last night that Alamo said they would take FUCLA if they got Texas for TV ratings. I do hope you are right though. Would love a shot at Texas. We owe them big time.
Beavers to face Baylor in Holiday Bowl.
Baylor has a great offense, Banker is scheming for it, Baylor has already dropped 40 points.
source? or just speculation? I’d prefer Texas Tech. Baylor is on a roll right now. Don’t like the idea of that matchup
Just saw that as well. So it looks like Texas or Baylor.
All of that means jack didley squat to bowl committees.
Source?
Nope.
