I’ve noticed his absence as well. He committed that stupid foul against UofH and was suspended by the league for the first half of the Utah game.
Riley didn’t take him to Utah at all, story was that he’d rather take a player who was available for the entire game. He then was suspended from a game (SDSU?) for violation of team rules.
He is still listed on the roster and his stats show participation in only 2 games (EWU & UofH). Riley initially said, “it takes 4 guys to replace him”…because of versatility and special teams play. He must really be in the doghouse?
I get it, they’re “bringing awareness to breast cancer”, but let’s call it for what it is – a publicity stunt by UO to get people tuned in and talking about them.
Storm on 2nd and 10 gets the hand off and just stands there. Wow. That kid just seems done, so hesitant. Get Chris Brown out there, he’s been very effective in his limited time.
I don’t understand the hesitancy to giving Brown a chance. There’s only 2 or 3 teams in the nation worse than us running the football. As a coach, wouldn’t you want to try anything to improve that number?!
We’ve thrown at their one CB every single pass so far, pretty hilarious. He picked up a PI and we just scored a TD on the ground. Gonna be a long day for that kid.
The announcers were saying Crichton is expected to be a 1st round pick this year. I supremely doubt that unless he picks up a ton of sacks(only 1 so far this year) or sticks around one more year. He’s a stud but he doesn’t stand out on our weird, hot-and-cold D-Line.

We’ve handed the ball to a RB 3 times in 3 drives so far. One score, two 3-and-outs. Just an unsustainable ratio, Cal is dropping 7 back every time.
Cal’s best defender, Jackson, rolls his ankle after we threw at him for about the 10th time, goes out of the game…and then Riley immediately calls a TO.
Way to give him some rest, Riley, I’m sure he appreciates it.
They have 3 WRs bunched. We have 2 CBs tight on them, then a safety about 12 yards deep. They obviously throw a screen, and 2v3 then get 10 yards. Every fucking time.
Seriously. I feel like a broke record but common. Has he ever heard the term “fall forward”? At least try to lower your shoulder and get across the chains.
Playcalling has been very creative on 4th downs this year. Can’t recall seeing a team run a reverse on 4th and short. Riley having some fun with the Cal defense.
Part having fun with the Cal defense and a bigger part trying to make stuff happen while having no run game.

This should be one of the most talented lines we’ve had in years and yet you’d swear it’s filled with walk-ons (which Quizz actually did have and yet still amassed 1,000+ yards every year).
Smith, you stupid drive killing bastard. Would it be that hard just to catch it and hit the turf?
Still, he did get us a td. I think if they could get this kid to focus he would be dangerous
The rest of the game should be live practice of the run game, however I fear MR will keep Mannion chucking the ball and taking potentially season wrecking hits.
I know Riley doesn’t want to pull Mannion/Cooks after poor plays and abuse by the Bears, BUT these two are the heart of this team. This is the last chance to get playing time for Vanderveen and has the advantage of letting Vaz get a couple series before putting Vanderveen in…….I know Riley wants to be “PC” on letting Vaz go in first.
Seriously….
We don’t scrimmage in the preseason to avoid injury, but it’s a good idea to continue padding stats with star players in blowout games for the fun of it??
Clute decides to tip a pass up when he’s on the ground and it’s almost intercepted as a result. Dumb play, dumb play call. Riley trying to sneak a 5th TD pass in when the game is super-over.
Per Lindsay tweet, “Word on Cooks is that he just got wind knocked out of him — team doc told radio sideline reporter Ron Callan “he seems to be fine.””
If I was a Cal fan, I would hate OSU…after the decade of domination, including some really big upset wins, we go for it on fourth and goal up 32. I think for some reason Riley really enjoys beating Cal.
jesus fucking tits helen! We haven’t lost at memorial stadium in berkeley since 1997 and someone gives that a -1????? I hope whoever did that gets ass cancer!
I love the fact Riley is pounding them! Why it’s okay for Uo or anybody else to run 90 + plus plays but we have to bench our starters, and work on the punt game?
Heisman to keep up with Marcus? Cause now that Manziel lost its pretty much those 2 unless they decide to give it to the bama qb or someone else on there.
Jameis Winston for FSU is the real deal. I think he’s the front runner. WR’s will not win a heisman unless he’s a punt/kick returner as well and maybe play some defense.
QBs and RBs only now.
Cooks and Mannion will get in the discussion if they win the next 2 games.
Kind of bull shit call by the refs. They messed up the whistle by saying it was a forward pass, but once they blow the whistle the play is dead and the Beaver players didn’t try to pounce on the loose ball. Doesn’t matter, I know, but still annoying.
Honestly – how do you think Powe feels about choosing Cal, on their way to 1-6, while we are 6-1, and we have a heisman candidate QB? That’s got to suck.
At this point, I don’t think any of them will. That’s usually a good thing because it means you have depth. With the class we have so far, it also means there aren’t any real standouts coming in. Maybe a d-lineman or two will play with as much as we rotate guys there.
Mitchell is mobile enough (Rivals has him running a 4.6 40), but you don’t see him running much on film. McMaryion looks like more of a scrambler to me.
Oregon-UCLA and South Carolina-Missouri are the only other match ups next week that stood out to me. I do think the Beavers jump into the top 25 after this game because it makes our match up with Stanford more marketable.
That would be the kind of exposure to put Mannion right into the thick of the Heisman race with a win. Going to be an awesome sold out electric atmosphere!
Anyone watch “The Drive” on PAC12 networks? It’s the show that’s like hard knocks on HBO. They are following Cal and ASU this year. It’ll be fun to watch what their attitude is in prepping for the game.
I think Oregon State should do the Drive next year for Mannion and Cooks’ senior season. Can BDC take advantage of an opportunity? He never marches on Rome.
That is a bizarre rant. Sounds like Alliotti is the one chasing stats. What are the cougs supposed to do, run the ball? It’s called an air raid offense for a reason..
So Halliday throws an NCAA record number of pass attepts, which was twice the number Sean threw, but only ended up with 60+ more yards than Sean. If that final Cooks pass were caught, it would have been nearly even total passing yards.
What makes him a total pussy is how he asks the media to make sure Leach knows how he feels.
Here’s an idea, tell him yourself to his face, dick.
How does a guy at that level and with as much experience and time with the same university pop off with something THAT stupid?
If a Beaver coach said that I would be so embarrassed.
I think Osu fans are really wishful thinking with the whole Mannion_Heisman talk. At best he gets mentioned as a 6th best dark horse by some announcer trying to be different. It’s all about wins and highlight reel plays. If we win out he might get invited, otherwise not a sniff.
The only good this premature talk does is maybe get some espn guy mentioning him frequently which of course is good exposure for the program. I do like that Herbstreit has mentioned him.
Seems that atleast 60% of the time it goes to the QB with the best numbers and you can’t have more than 3 losses and need a moment. Sean has a sizeable lead with the numbers. I don’t expect his production to fall much against the good teams we finish with. OSU will still throw a lot and the games will dictate that and Sean will be in for all 4 quartes most likely. If we cab beat Stanford at home we will pick up a lot of buzz and then USC and UW are also quite winnable. OSU also will give ASU a much better game than the Fuskies did.
OSU stays unranked. Which I’m fine wih. Just funny that if OSU had managed 1 more score against EWU, they’d be in the top 10 now. Stanford has lost to a team OSU beat on the road (and Utah has 3 losses now) yet remains in the top 10. Sets up an intriguing game this week. Stanford appears to have lost one of their better receivers for the week due to knee injury in 4th quarter vs UCLA.
Being unranked is fine with me, too. The more this team feels disrespected, the more likely they are to bring full effort and focus. Without full effort and focus the W’s are gonna be very hard to come by.
Oregon State #28 in the AP with 79 points. Kirk Bohls had us #19 and Chris Fowler #21. Jon Wilner is a fool and has Washinton still ranked #24 at 1-3 in conference compared to our 4-0 and left us off his ballot. UW only got 4 points and Wilner was half of them. Arizona St. is #26 in the AP.
As for rankings, I really think it’s as it should be. Beat Stanford get a ranking. Beat Stanford prove you’re for real. Always better to prove it on the field or as an alternative if you want a cheap Top 25 ranking then don’t lose to a FCS team to start the season.
You’re holding Oregon St to an unfair standard. The rankings are not where they should be. UW hasn’t done anything to justify their ranking. The beavs have a more impressive resume and a better record. They should be adjusted on a weekly basis to reflect that.
wait just a damn minute. Unfair standard? Beavs lost to Eastern Washington. While still not sold on the hussies they have lost to the ducks, stanford and ASU. Just like us they have beaten no one of substance unless you consider Boise St to be a good team this year. I don’t see the Beavs having a more impressive resume than UW right now. If we had played their schedule would we be 6-1?
Silver lining in the polls is OSU is #27 in the Coaches and opposite of the AP has a sizeable point margin above ASU at 91-51. The coaches counts in the BCS whereas the AP has no bearing. The computers already had OSU 27 or 28 last week according to projections so there is still potential to crack the BCS Top 25 tonight. Should be very close right around #25.
Imo the Beav’s OL will not be able to protect Mannion against the furd’s D. Worst case, he gets a season ending injury. Best case, he just gets the snot beat out of him.
I had great seats at last nights game, and I saw Mannion settling in nicely in some beautiful pockets. Also I was impressed by a much quicker release when the pocket did collapse. Bwidk
Good to see you are getting back into the swing of things. I want to know if they will be able to bring pressure on Mannion. Watched quite a bit of the UCLA/Stanford game, Hudley had a lot of time to throw it seems though out the game.
Ask If knows of any start ups we can get into on the ground floor, get rich and donate money to the Beavs, and win a CW before we all are too senile to know or care about it.
Nice! I really enjoyed that a couple years ago when you tried to get a little back and forth with other conference blogs. Very nice. Also, I enjoyed that blog someone posted about cal scouting Beavs, lets remember that for next year.
Why didn’t Shaw run the ball on 3rd or 4th and goal from the 2 vs Utah to lose the game. How do they feel about it. (ruined any BCS NC Title hopes). Status on Montgomery and what do they do w/out?
Ask them if they THINK they have ever seen a duo like Mannion/Cooks before and sit back and laugh at the response. Also, ask them to bring some of those 4/5 star recruits to the game so they can see Corvallis and the beavs, and then make their decision! I bet they would be so scared and lose many of their recruits to the beavers. And maybe ask them too why they think we are better than Oregon and have a better chance to beat them this year. And why aren’t they ranked lower than us since we beat Utah? Did anyone miss that? I thought it was a misprint!
I’m on the fence. rebeav is either an ignorant teenage dick fan, or he’s an ignorant teenage dick fan with down syndrome. Not much difference between the two so it’s pointless to argue which
Man the EWU loss has been a killer. Still not ranked. Major F up by the coaching staff. Lost a lot of free pub with ESPN. Beavs would be close to the top ten, whether they deserved it or not.
Doubt it. USC is orange and I think they also partially did that because they feel better about beating USC. Missed opportunity considering Stanford kept us from the Rose Bowl last year in a tight game and we have plenty of chance to beat Stanford at home. Would be an ideal game for the orange and black look that we also were supposed to have as the all orange will be seen at USC. But per the genius of BDC it will almost certainly be the same all black look we saw for EWU even if it is a major season making game.
Angry don’t start going back to what-ifs from years ago or I’ll be forced to go back to the game at husky stadium in 99-00?, our only loss that entire year.
We better do the damn orange out! It’s time, here is our chance to show we are among the nation’s most elite teams! Get that orange on tv leading up to Halloween? You better believe we will be signing top talent left and right. Mannion needs to host every single recruit and show them what we have to offer!
Nice. Brings a little more attention to our game this weekend with it being a top 25 match up. I’m definitely not sad to see Oregon get screwed either.
Yep, #25 in the “only poll that matters” finally seems people are forgetting about eastern Washington, and its about time! Haha Ducks, maybe don’t almost lose to WSU and you will actually not get screwed for once. Cry me a river, looks like the pink helmets FAILED! The beavs looked so much better vs WSU, I bet we pass the ducks in the next few weeks anyway because of how much better we are playing the same teams.
I can’t believe you kept typing after you so clearly lost any plausibility or sense of real humor halfway through the first sentence. That’s bullshit, and you can write that down. I don’t care. It’s just a low class thing to do.
This is awesome. I can use Aliotti’s words for just about anything. This has to be one of the best gifts any Duck could have ever provided. It’s not like we needed any evidence they were highly stupid. But that rant was just so antithetical to sport that it makes stupid beam with pride at its relative genius. I just can’t believe someone who calls himself a coach would say something so very low brow.
Thank you Nick “Hyper-whiny” Aliotti. Thank you very much you silly loser.
Allioti sounds way too entitled, like a class one creep. How dare the opposition play hard to the end when the Ducks have ground them into the turf? His day will come, hopefully sooner than later.
concur Jack. This example of Duck Stupidity will have longevity. Just goes to show how jaded they have become in EUG. As Neuheisel just said on Jack Arute’s show, when you so often you start to lose focus on what matters, winning, and shift your gaze to crazy stuff like rankings and stats. That’s where Alioti’s mindset is. A good sign. This is the high water mark for Duck football. it’s all downhill from here.
Anderson, who also plays for the Panthers now, is a little miffed at all the attention Mannion and Cooks aren’t getting, and says it’s especially ridiculous when you consider the numbers. Mannion leads the country in total passing yards (2,992) and touchdowns (29). Cooks has 1,176 receiving yards, which also leads the country.
“If you go back and look at when Joey Harrington finished fourth in the Heisman voting, Sean has close to those stats — or better than them — through (seven) games,” Anderson said.
It is interesting to look back and see how much the game has changed. Jonathan Smith had one season where he completed over 50% of his passes. I don’t think a quarterback would last very long now with those numbers.
I HATE Schnell’s intro into that column. As if Eugene is surrounded by the similar Wilamette basin ag and economic conditions 45 miles to the south. Eugene as a city offers nothing better than Corvallis really, and it offers lower quality of life. UO football’s recruiting strength is the phil knight nike machine.
The AD should call her out on the stupid ,needless comments about Corvallis. It is a great college town, plain and simple, in a beautiful setting. You want to see a real ” cow town,” go to Champagne- Urbana. Literally in a sea of cornfields.
Just for a laugh, the SEC communications guy tweeted, “From all the Top 25 teams to the results from today, 1-14 strength and depth of the SEC on full display today.”
“…Ducks defensive coordinator Mike Aliotti in a news release.”
and,
“Mike Leach, saying he was concerned about only his team, declined to escalate blunt criticism by Mike Aliotti into a war of words…”
Gave me a chuckle this morning. Nothing like a clown whining to the media for a little attention only to have his name incorrectly cited when it prints.
and,
Leach should lock him in a shed!
Leach does not seem like a guy I would want to get in a feud with. Bet he spends all offseason scheming a way to embarrass that whiny duck.
XP?!?!?!? Uhhh yeah I’d suggest that you consider it. :-)
I’d also suggest that you get a computer that’s capable of running Windows 7 and go in that direction. Now that I’m running Win7 I’ve forgotten a lot of pain I used to experience when running XP.
I’m a “drive the car till it has 300,000+ miles and dies” kind of guy. I have a hard time upgrading technology until it’s totally useless to me. So far, playing HUDL videos is really the only problem I’ve had for my computing purposes. Not a deal breaker for me.
I use XP on one PC and 7 on the other.
7 is a nicer OS, but XP is just fine and shouldn’t interfere with HUDL videos. Update your Java and Adobe applications. If you use adblock software, allow it to bypass that site.
By the way, my ’95 Volvo has 160k miles on it. ;) Runs great!
Didn’t hear Wynn’s name called as much as I expected against Cal, if he can show up big vs Stanford it’ll be a big help. Remember when he and Crichton were frequently forcing and recovering fumbles?
I was at the game and was satisfied with Wynns play. It seemed to me that Cal was scheming for Wynn and not Chriton, and seemed obvious to me that Cal didn’t realize everyone else we have played had been scheming for For Chriton, allowing Wynn to make more noise. That was a mistake and Chriton had the big game.
Couple of updates on recruits from the 2013 class who didn’t qualify(includes update on Mattison):
Jalen Grimble, the 6-2, 295-pound transfer from Miami who is sitting out this season but practicing with the Beavers, fits into their plans at defensive tackle next year. “He’s really good,” Riley said. “He’s a good kid and works real hard on our scout team. If everything keeps going like it is, he’ll be right in the mix (for rotation minutes) next season.” Riley said Grimble will count as a member of the 2013 recruiting class. …
Receiver Javon Williams, dismissed from Arizona Western’s team a week ago, would have to go to junior college for another year before being eligible to play at a four-year school. Williams has announced a commitment to OSU …
— OSU coaches were told that Lawrence Mattison, the 6-1, 235-pound running back who has left Butler College in El Dorado, Kan., is transferring to Navarro College in Corsicana, Texas. Mattison, who failed to qualify academically to attend OSU out of high school in Spring Branch, Texas, said via Twitter he intends to enroll at OSU for winter term. That wouldn’t be possible unless he had gained academic eligibility at a junior college. ..
OSU coaches are hopeful Kyle Peko — the 6-2, 295-pound defensive tackle who failed to qualify academically out of Cerritos (Calif.) College — will finish his classes at Cerritos this fall and gain eligibility so he can enroll at OSU winter term.
Great news about Grimble. Will have a year in the system and should be able plug a huge hole in the roster at DT. Need a couple of HS kids to get in the system at that position.
Does anybody have any confidence the other three ever play a down for the Beavs?
Having a good DT on scout team squad has got to be making for some quality practice reps for our OL. No wonder I’ve seen some improvement. That is nice news.
Does anyone know if #19 Stevenson is still playing? We haven’t been hearing about him lately,
I’ve noticed his absence as well.
He must really be in the doghouse?
he’s out looking for other coaches daughters to impregnate. Keep it on the dl though. He doesn’t want them to see him coming
Hey, that’s a low blow man. Stevenson will emerge this season as a true home run threat for the beavers!
you’re dad didn’t pull out soon enough son
your
God if you can hear me, please let the ducks be the first team to lose wearing pink.
won’t happen. But hey, they look really cute tonight
I get it, they’re “bringing awareness to breast cancer”, but let’s call it for what it is – a publicity stunt by UO to get people tuned in and talking about them.
noooo. they would never do anything like that.
Of course the yucks would wear pink. They almost lost anyway, the beavers look like the more balanced team!
I’m starting to get really annoyed watching Woods run the ball. I feel like every time he gets it he immediately pauses. JUST RUN.
http://lag10.com/channel15
Storm on 2nd and 10 gets the hand off and just stands there. Wow. That kid just seems done, so hesitant. Get Chris Brown out there, he’s been very effective in his limited time.
get someone in there who doesn’t hesitate
I don’t understand the hesitancy to giving Brown a chance. There’s only 2 or 3 teams in the nation worse than us running the football. As a coach, wouldn’t you want to try anything to improve that number?!
MICHAEL CRICHTON!!!
Back-to-back batted passes. Cal punt.
Absolutely PERFECT 50 yard throw to Cooks. Wow.
We’ve thrown at their one CB every single pass so far, pretty hilarious. He picked up a PI and we just scored a TD on the ground. Gonna be a long day for that kid.
It’s back on ESPN2.
Alabama the only highly ranked SEC team to not lose… They’re so deep!
Cooks has 81 yards after 8 minutes.
Bomb by Goff complete. Stephens was on coverage but got beat, caught up at the end but not enough.
*Meant Steven Nelson
The announcers were saying Crichton is expected to be a 1st round pick this year. I supremely doubt that unless he picks up a ton of sacks(only 1 so far this year) or sticks around one more year. He’s a stud but he doesn’t stand out on our weird, hot-and-cold D-Line.
Enger cleared out 2 guys on the goal line TD by Ward. It was nice.
I’m thinking a few wrinkles are coming after Cal started jumping the bubble screens.
I saw that too. I refuse to believe the lack of running game is because of the lineman. This is one of the best lines we’ve had in years. Image what Quizz, Bernard, etc. could have done with these guys instead of the walk-ons they were stuck behind.
Bolden always looks like he’s about to fall down.
Cooks with the drop for an easy first on a hook. Ouch.
Our special teams gunners have been awesome, just shutting down all returns. The easiest way for a bad team to steal a game is a few special teams plays, and they are crushing it right now.
We’ve handed the ball to a RB 3 times in 3 drives so far. One score, two 3-and-outs. Just an unsustainable ratio, Cal is dropping 7 back every time.
Damn Crichton has just been a beast so far.
REYNOLDS INT!
Cal’s best defender, Jackson, rolls his ankle after we threw at him for about the 10th time, goes out of the game…and then Riley immediately calls a TO.
Way to give him some rest, Riley, I’m sure he appreciates it.
Ward steps on Mannion’s foot on a dive play, falls down on 3rd and 1. WOW.
These RBs are bad.
No respect for Tyler Anderson, why not give him the ball??
*Ching
Romain misses about a 30 yard FG, off the right post from the right mark. Just amazing.
This game is fucking ugly.
Holy Crichton.
Crichton causes a fumble on a sack, recovered by OSU around the 10. FUCK YEAH!!!
Woods gets the ball… and immediately hesitates in the backfield. CAN RILEY NOT SEE THIS ON FILM?!
Woods is running like crap. Feel bad for the kid, but he’s just skittish now. Like a head-shy puppy.
The only time I really see the oline blocking well is in goal line situations. Woods and Ward have been great about punching it in this year.
The runs where Woods hesitated tonight, I didn’t see any hole he could have ran through.
Beautiful throw to Caleb Smith, who had a nice move for a 10-ish yard TD. After Mannion barely overthrew Clute who was wide open.
No OSU running game. Pathetic.
And it will continue until OSU has coaches who can recruit.
On Cav. All starts up front.
Great route by Smith to get the LB turned around and then easy TD. The Cal safety had no chance.
Just wondering……. Did anyone expect ASU to roll UDub like that?
I will never understand this defensive scheme.
They have 3 WRs bunched. We have 2 CBs tight on them, then a safety about 12 yards deep. They obviously throw a screen, and 2v3 then get 10 yards. Every fucking time.
Now Cal is just holding Crichton lol. Gonna be a long night.
No. Lost $30 on that one. I thought +3.5 was easy money.
Ditto, only my loss was only $10.
Chippy game.
I don’t mind showing a little fire out there. This group of oliners would actually do something about JQuizz getting body slammed out of bounds.
Cal O-line leading the team in tackles LOL.
They are having a rough time against just 3 man and 4 man rushes. Chrichton is having his way with the left tackle.
pass
Who is Defensive Coordinator Mike Banks?
Nice announcers, ESPN.
Woods just needs to be converted to receiver and let Brown and Ward run. He’s got good hands and is shifty as hell once he’s moving.
Mannion is under throwing his receivers.
“Cooks may have gotten away with a push there.”
Clearly no push. Not even close.
Smith with his 3rd penalty tonight.
Damnit Woods! Use some fucking muscle for a first down!!
Seriously. I feel like a broke record but common. Has he ever heard the term “fall forward”? At least try to lower your shoulder and get across the chains.
A combination of bad running by the RBs and bad blocking. Have you seen a single hole to run through in like 4 games? I haven’t.
Wow awesome play call by Riley on 4th down!
Playcalling has been very creative on 4th downs this year. Can’t recall seeing a team run a reverse on 4th and short. Riley having some fun with the Cal defense.
Part having fun with the Cal defense and a bigger part trying to make stuff happen while having no run game.
There was a time not so long ago when Tyler Anderson was making first downs nearly every time he carried (although he wasn’t called on to carry often). Is Ty in the same doghouse as Jovan?
Some plays no, some plays yes. In football the holes don’t stay open very long on most plays and it’s the RBs job to get in there before it closes. I feel like Woods waits too long to hit the hole and as a result the hole has already been filled by a LB or safety. This should be one of the most talented lines we’ve had in years and yet you’d swear it’s filled with walk-ons (which Quizz actually did have and yet still amassed 1,000+ yards every year).
This was supposed to be to OneEyedKing.
4th and 2 on about the 10, Cooks Fly Sweep for the TD. So embarrassing.
Lol Martin right there in the flat to make a play… and the ball goes right by him.
4th and 4 for Cal, they throw a short pass, perfectly defended and batted down by Nelson. And we ran press coverage! What just happened?
Stars don’t matter? Nelson’s pretty good.
WSU down 20 @ Half to the Ducks: 24-34
I mean down 10 points
Mary-Oh-tah fumble returned 41 yds for WSU TD!
A couple nice RB flare routes. Has anyone else noticed we haven’t run those nice middle screens much lately?
Stud play by Ward.
And nervous plays by Woods.
Cookie Monster!!!!!
And as I say that, WR screen over the middle for a 34 yard TD.
Cal fans freaking out over the roughing the passer call. Helmet straight to the chest, lowered like a battering ram. Easy call.
Vaz or VanderVeen?
I’m team Vaz!
Haha, praising Banker.
I damned near puked when I heard that.
Funny watching this game in that it seems like I know half the names on their roster because we lost recruiting battles with Cal.
Agreed! Think Powe regrets his decision?
Hope so.
Zimmerman nice shot and tackle there.
And that’s how Banker keeps his job, ESPN occasionally slurping him without knowing anything about him.
So which QB starts the 2nd half?
Wouldn’t surprise me at all to see Riley go with Mannion! I don’t like it though.
Def. Mannion. Gotta rack up those stats to stay in the Heisman picture.
Mannion keeps under throwing and getting bailed out by Cooks.
And again!
Riley actually managing the clock? Good practice for balance of the year.
Bad night for Smith.
Understatement of the year.
Thought the Jovan doghouse thing qualified for that award!
May be time for Caleb to take a seat for a while.
Major fuck up by Smith. That would have been the stake through the heart.
Mannion 1st half stat line: 21/29 310 yds 2 TD 0 Int
Cooks 1st half stat line: 9 rec 210 yds 1 TD
Smith, you stupid drive killing bastard. Would it be that hard just to catch it and hit the turf?
Still, he did get us a td. I think if they could get this kid to focus he would be dangerous
He’s young and filling in for Hamlett. Gotta love the Big Guy grit though. That’s what we want from Woods, right??
And……..how many false starts?
3 on Smith at least
Why does Uo continue to wear black? I could see once every few yrs for special, but a couple times a year?
Because it’s absolutely fetching with pink.
And very slimming.
Those pink quack helmets are really fugly. If they want to raise awareness they should have their cheerleaders wear wet t-shirts.
It would be great if guys would stop trying to reach the ball out near the goal line, the risk reward is just not there.
That and trying to run back KO’s from >2yds deep are two of the poorest risk reward gambles.
Woods finding a few holes. Seems that Stevenson would be better suited for that
Yes!
Jovan is better at filling em.
Ha ha!!
lol! ya one upped me. nicely done sir
Post of the day!
Mannion started 10-17, now 25-33, aka 15-16 since then. Sickness.
Maybe getting Storm some yards in the passing game will re-build his confidence. I doubt it, but I hope so.
Goff with the gaff. Just loses the ball. Oops. OSU recovery.
When did Vaz start playing for Cal.
This is when Cooks could get hurt, damnit….get Cooks and Mannion OUT OF THERE!!!
Amen.
Harlow with the late hit, 15 yard penalty. Second penalty for him tonight I believe.
How could the line judge call that – he was on his ass! Like Harlow.
Not sure how the scheme dictated that Ward would block a 300 pound DL, but he just sacked Mannion for infinite yards. Lame.
How does that call make any fucking sense?
Lol Zimmerman.
Zimmerman drops the easiest pick ever on a horrible flea flicker lol. Dude is okay in run coverage but horrible in the pass.
flailbacker is his natural position
The rest of the game should be live practice of the run game, however I fear MR will keep Mannion chucking the ball and taking potentially season wrecking hits.
I know Riley doesn’t want to pull Mannion/Cooks after poor plays and abuse by the Bears, BUT these two are the heart of this team. This is the last chance to get playing time for Vanderveen and has the advantage of letting Vaz get a couple series before putting Vanderveen in…….I know Riley wants to be “PC” on letting Vaz go in first.
hey! This QB is a threat to run! Ruh Roh!
EWU part dos?
Yup. Running QB comes in and we immediately give up a TD.
Civil War may end 77-70.
Seriously….
We don’t scrimmage in the preseason to avoid injury, but it’s a good idea to continue padding stats with star players in blowout games for the fun of it??
Puzzling ain’t it?
Ha nice way to put it.
THERE WAS A HOLE TO RUN THROUGH!!!
Is MR trying to get Cooks hurt?
Don’t play Cooks for the rest of the year. That way he won’t get hurt.
444 yards for Mannion and 4 TDs, this one to Mullaney. Just going for the all-time record tonight or what?
It’s tempting fate, but it’d be a real neat deal to see Sean throw for 600.
Back to that risk/reward discussion. Answer is obvious, I realize you know it.
McMullen earning his way, handling the new long snapper during the learning curve.
Somebody text the equipment manager and have them chuck # 4’s and #7’s helmets over the top of the stadium.
Cal coaches are going to call MR out for this BS tomorrow.
But with the remainder of our games, we’ll live by the pass and die by the pass.
Seems like our D changed to a “let them score so we can keep it “close” enough to keep our starters in scheme.”
I’m afraid you’re right.
Quacks have put up 62 with over nine minutes left.
No. Fucking. Way. Cooks is down after a bomb from Mannion. Announcers are puzzled.
WTF is Riley doing?
Stupid mother fucking Riley. WTF are those two in the game!
These guys must be checking in with this website.
Jesus Christ Riley are fucking brain dead.
You
Announcers ragging on Riley for keeping Cooks and Mannion in. Good.
Assistant coaches can’t tell him he is an idiot for leaving Mannion in?
Bet Cooks has a concussion.
That was my thought. His eyes looked glazed.
WTF is with Riley and leaving in players when the game is over?
I would cry. Straight up.
Mannion looks concerned that Cooks isn’t on the field. Still converting with methodical precision.
FUCK!
So stupid for Cooks and Mannion to be in there. If Cooks has a concussion and can’t go next week the Beavs have absolutely no shot.
Clute decides to tip a pass up when he’s on the ground and it’s almost intercepted as a result. Dumb play, dumb play call. Riley trying to sneak a 5th TD pass in when the game is super-over.
Okay cooks passed the concussion test and does not appear to be injured. We should see him in next series.
You are probably right.
Per Lindsay tweet, “Word on Cooks is that he just got wind knocked out of him — team doc told radio sideline reporter Ron Callan “he seems to be fine.””
Hope she is correct.
If I was a Cal fan, I would hate OSU…after the decade of domination, including some really big upset wins, we go for it on fourth and goal up 32. I think for some reason Riley really enjoys beating Cal.
good. we were the punching bag for 28 years for many games. Bout time we are on the giving end of the butt fucking
Ok, THAT is the post of the day! Made me spray coffee on my screen.
that better be it for the starters. Up 39 with just over 9 minutes left. Beavers always win in Berzerkely!
jesus fucking tits helen! We haven’t lost at memorial stadium in berkeley since 1997 and someone gives that a -1????? I hope whoever did that gets ass cancer!
Sarcasm
I love the fact Riley is pounding them! Why it’s okay for Uo or anybody else to run 90 + plus plays but we have to bench our starters, and work on the punt game?
Beavs D looked better again tonight. Maybe they’ll scrimmage next year.
Also, Riley is an idiot playing Mannion/Cooks up 32 in the 4th. No excuse.
Heisman to keep up with Marcus? Cause now that Manziel lost its pretty much those 2 unless they decide to give it to the bama qb or someone else on there.
Gotta get Cooks into the discussion. He’s on pace for like 150 catches and 2000 yards.
Cooks is a punt returner.
Was Tim Brown a returner when he won it? I honestly don’t remember.
Yes he was.
Cooks only had the wind knocked out of him.
The Commish!
Wish he got some of Martin’s reps.
Hopefully he’ll jump Martin on depth chart.
Tago with playing time!
Kind of bull shit call by the refs. They messed up the whistle by saying it was a forward pass, but once they blow the whistle the play is dead and the Beaver players didn’t try to pounce on the loose ball. Doesn’t matter, I know, but still annoying.
Put Mannion back in LOL!
lmao its too bad he wouldve had his 5th td too…
Smith fumbled one away at the endzone. Hope he fixes that this week because i doubt hambone is back this week.
you guys see connor hallidays crazy state line for wazzu?
58/89, 557 yards, 4 td 4 int
That guy is really puzzling. He can look really good for Lon stretches and the just totally make a bad read or stupid decision and kill drives.
good thing Riley didn’t keep Mannion in to try and break the new Pac-12 passing yardage record
Honestly – how do you think Powe feels about choosing Cal, on their way to 1-6, while we are 6-1, and we have a heisman candidate QB? That’s got to suck.
F him.
I concur
Me too.
The education, the weather, the chicks, the closeness to SF. I’d say he’s thinking that he did it right.
Cal must of had better recruit hostesses than we provided. I thought it was pretty clear that cal was not going to be any good for a while.
Chris Brown! Ima stiff arm that bitch like I did Rihanna!
Whiskey you on fire.
We can’t win the Big 12 North, Oregon will. These stupid bastards get paid to be ignorant.
Big 12 North? Wait, what?
That’s what the announcer said.
wow
#Great day to be a Beavergopher!
Is Chris Brown a better running back or is our 2nd string OL better then our 1st string in run blocking.
The 2nd string is better than Cal’s first string
which commits do you think could play next year? and can nick mitchell run?
At this point, I don’t think any of them will. That’s usually a good thing because it means you have depth. With the class we have so far, it also means there aren’t any real standouts coming in. Maybe a d-lineman or two will play with as much as we rotate guys there.
Mitchell is mobile enough (Rivals has him running a 4.6 40), but you don’t see him running much on film. McMaryion looks like more of a scrambler to me.
Anybody know when college gameday announces their next week location? OSU/STAN should be one of the top games next week.
Oregon-UCLA and South Carolina-Missouri are the only other match ups next week that stood out to me. I do think the Beavers jump into the top 25 after this game because it makes our match up with Stanford more marketable.
Also consider they were in Seattle last weekend. Pretty much zero chance they will come to the pacific northwest 2 of the last 3 weekends
Well, that theory is blown. Theyre going to be in Eugene
Don’t suppose U Nike’s Football Operations Center will get any free exposure?
Eugene is a shithole. Fuck ESPN and the U Nike. Enough.
He never marches on Rome.
aliotti sounds like a total pussy here
http://www.oregonlive.com/ducks/index.ssf/2013/10/ducks_defensive_coordinator_ni.html
Wtf?
This guy gets paid to coach football? What a fucking loser. That’s a really low rent rant.
If I didn’t know better (and I don’t), I’d think Aliotti is gambling on his team and doesn’t like losing to the spread.
That was seriously my first thought!
Some Pete Rose shit going on there for sure.
Any info on Bolden’s injury?
OSU stays unranked. Which I’m fine wih. Just funny that if OSU had managed 1 more score against EWU, they’d be in the top 10 now. Stanford has lost to a team OSU beat on the road (and Utah has 3 losses now) yet remains in the top 10. Sets up an intriguing game this week. Stanford appears to have lost one of their better receivers for the week due to knee injury in 4th quarter vs UCLA.
Wow
Or better, how about if a DI defense made EWU punt, say 3 times, and the Beavs 46(?) points was enough?
Bwdik
I had great seats at last nights game, and I saw Mannion settling in nicely in some beautiful pockets. Also I was impressed by a much quicker release when the pocket did collapse. Bwidk
What I don’t know is are you comparing oranges with oranges or…… In other words how does the Stanford D compare with the Cal D?
Arizona St. expected to begin play in new Space-Air Dome in 2016:
http://www.azcentral.com/video/2745523061001
*This is why the 2015 VFC Project is crucial for Oregon St. recruiting.
Domes suck! Football should be played in the elements.
It is a canopy so a bit better than a dome. It will still feel atleast partially open air. $300 million pricetag.
I’m going to be working with a Stanford blogger to get a scouting report. Please post any questions you want me to ask here.
Injury report, Hogan’s strengths/weaknesses, how does this year’s team compare to last year’s?
Good to see you are getting back into the swing of things. I want to know if they will be able to bring pressure on Mannion. Watched quite a bit of the UCLA/Stanford game, Hudley had a lot of time to throw it seems though out the game.
I’m with bone on all counts.
Interpretation of shaw as coach now that he is fully liable for the team. (No more Harbaugh influence)
And maybe ask them why your such a fucktard and why you waste your time pretending to play grown up football conversationalist.
Youre
I’m on the fence. rebeav is either an ignorant teenage dick fan, or he’s an ignorant teenage dick fan with down syndrome. Not much difference between the two so it’s pointless to argue which
Man the EWU loss has been a killer. Still not ranked. Major F up by the coaching staff. Lost a lot of free pub with ESPN. Beavs would be close to the top ten, whether they deserved it or not.
I’m hoping we finally get to see the orange uniforms this Saturday.
?
Stanford kept them from a Rose Bowl in ’08, too. Well not really since they controlled their own destiny, but that Catching fumble, in retrospect…
Btw, Catchings–most inappropriately named WR ever. That’s like a woman named Johnson!
Angry don’t start going back to what-ifs from years ago or I’ll be forced to go back to the game at husky stadium in 99-00?, our only loss that entire year.
I always called him Droppings
nope. OSU has called for an Orange out the following week against USC which is when the all orange uni’s will debut
http://www.dailybarometer.com/sports/football/article_170ed010-36b6-11e3-99a2-001a4bcf6878.html
We better do the damn orange out! It’s time, here is our chance to show we are among the nation’s most elite teams! Get that orange on tv leading up to Halloween? You better believe we will be signing top talent left and right. Mannion needs to host every single recruit and show them what we have to offer!
please stay home. I don’t think these potential recruits want to see what your 300lb mom has to offer
Yep, since it is unlikely we have all orange next week, then it definitely should be orange and black for Halloween.
Yuk
Beavs ranked 25 in the BCS. 0regon ranked…3
Florida state #2, oh please. Them and Clemson were both way over rated.
Florida State proved Clemson was overrated.
The beavs looked so much better vs WSU, I bet we pass the ducks in the next few weeks anyway because of how much better we are playing the same teams.
a 24 point win is “almost losing”? You’re a genius. I bet you’re the smartest fry boy in the building at your workplace
That’s not even a good attempt at trolling…
Getting a lot of love from the computers.
Internet porn?
It’s a great day to be a Beaver!
Anyone got any info?
Derek Anderson comments on Mannion/Cooks:
Anderson, who also plays for the Panthers now, is a little miffed at all the attention Mannion and Cooks aren’t getting, and says it’s especially ridiculous when you consider the numbers. Mannion leads the country in total passing yards (2,992) and touchdowns (29). Cooks has 1,176 receiving yards, which also leads the country.
“If you go back and look at when Joey Harrington finished fourth in the Heisman voting, Sean has close to those stats — or better than them — through (seven) games,” Anderson said.
He’s right. Harrington finished the 2001 season at Oregon passing for 2,415 yards and 23 touchdowns.
http://www.oregonlive.com/beavers/index.ssf/2013/10/oregon_state_insider_mannion-t.html
Pretty crazy stats when you see it put into perspective

David Pollack ?@davidpollack47 1h
If u aren’t paying attention out west, my Beavers added a little sugar 2 that Beaver juice & are rolling now.
It is interesting to look back and see how much the game has changed. Jonathan Smith had one season where he completed over 50% of his passes. I don’t think a quarterback would last very long now with those numbers.
Beaver juice + sugar = a sweet beaver?
I HATE Schnell’s intro into that column. As if Eugene is surrounded by the similar Wilamette basin ag and economic conditions 45 miles to the south. Eugene as a city offers nothing better than Corvallis really, and it offers lower quality of life. UO football’s recruiting strength is the phil knight nike machine.
“as if Eugene isn’t”….
Her start to the last paragraph might be even worse, “They might not have much in Corvallis, but they’ve got this:”
She could just have easily written that article without even bringing anything about Corvallis into it.
The AD should call her out on the stupid ,needless comments about Corvallis. It is a great college town, plain and simple, in a beautiful setting. You want to see a real ” cow town,” go to Champagne- Urbana. Literally in a sea of cornfields.
Champaign….damn auto correct.
with the gameday crown in EUG I have the feeling they’ll have a lot on Mannion/Cooks on Saturday’s show.
Just for a laugh, the SEC communications guy tweeted, “From all the Top 25 teams to the results from today, 1-14 strength and depth of the SEC on full display today.”

Sad part is, those toothless hillbillies believe that crap.
Lover this, from ESPN:
“…Ducks defensive coordinator Mike Aliotti in a news release.”
and,
“Mike Leach, saying he was concerned about only his team, declined to escalate blunt criticism by Mike Aliotti into a war of words…”
Gave me a chuckle this morning. Nothing like a clown whining to the media for a little attention only to have his name incorrectly cited when it prints.
and,
http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/9857484/mike-leach-reply-mike-aliotti-criticize-other-teams
Leach should lock him in a shed!
Leach does not seem like a guy I would want to get in a feud with. Bet he spends all offseason scheming a way to embarrass that whiny duck.
It was good to see the reporter get Allioti’s name wrong…I bet that chaps a bunch of Duck fans.
Datrin Guyton, Manor, Tx… WR
http://www.hudl.com/athlete/o/837511/highlights/65577385
Was this a Twitter Tuesday guy?
Rivals has him listed as a safety. Looks like it’s safe to say he’s under the radar right now.
My bad, didn’t realize he’s a new commit.
http://www.myfoxaustin.com/story/23745184/high-school-player-of-the-week-datrin-guyton
Austin area player of the week this past week. 4 catches for 136 yards and 2 TD’s, and a 102 yard kickoff return TD.
Looks like a good athlete. He’s running a lot of screens on film, so he should fit right into the system.
Manor plays 4A, which is still pretty big-time. I’m curious how he was so overlooked. Gwacham 2.0?
Thought the same about Boom LOL.
BTW, has he played at all after the early case of the dropsies?
Boom is on the kick coverage team. He seems to be okay in that role.
Keeps dropping the tee LOL.
Boom got some good playing time vs cal. Had some nice blocks but didn’t get any balls thrown his direction
Anybody else have problems playing these HUDL videos? They always kill my browser session (firefox and IE) Maybe it’s time to upgrade from Windows XP?
XP?!?!?!? Uhhh yeah I’d suggest that you consider it. :-)
I’d also suggest that you get a computer that’s capable of running Windows 7 and go in that direction. Now that I’m running Win7 I’ve forgotten a lot of pain I used to experience when running XP.
jmo
I’m a “drive the car till it has 300,000+ miles and dies” kind of guy. I have a hard time upgrading technology until it’s totally useless to me. So far, playing HUDL videos is really the only problem I’ve had for my computing purposes. Not a deal breaker for me.
I use XP on one PC and 7 on the other.
7 is a nicer OS, but XP is just fine and shouldn’t interfere with HUDL videos. Update your Java and Adobe applications. If you use adblock software, allow it to bypass that site.
By the way, my ’95 Volvo has 160k miles on it. ;) Runs great!
thanks, I’ll see if that works
My wife’s ’01 Civic is at 220K currently. Purrs like a kitten
Hearing he has grade issues, that might be why his offer list consists of the teams it has on it, and his lower rating.
Mannion voting for the Manning award up again. Has a decent lead early. Follow the link for a quick “like” and keep his name out there.

I’m not sure why Angry thinks Dylan Wynn is crazy. This doesn’t look crazy at all…LOL
http://instagram.com/p/fu96fPnDBU/#
Didn’t hear Wynn’s name called as much as I expected against Cal, if he can show up big vs Stanford it’ll be a big help. Remember when he and Crichton were frequently forcing and recovering fumbles?
Wynn did have a fumble recovery this week, and I thought he played a decent overall game. Was consistently in the backfield harrassing Goff.
That wouldn’t be possible unless he had gained academic eligibility at a junior college. ..
OSU coaches are hopeful Kyle Peko — the 6-2, 295-pound defensive tackle who failed to qualify academically out of Cerritos (Calif.) College — will finish his classes at Cerritos this fall and gain eligibility so he can enroll at OSU winter term.
http://portlandtribune.com/pt/12-sports/198333-beavers-notes-oregon-state-must-get-back-to-work
Great news about Grimble.
Great point.
