Well, maybe it’s not interesting. Maybe I’m just being an insecure and paranoid Beaver. Wouldn’t be the first, right?

Anyway, have a look at the photo below. Does anyone else notice what’s standing out in one and covered up in the other? LaMichael is really extruding his “goddess of triumph” tattoo, am I right?

Funny.

  1. funny stuff, and an interesting point. i think you’re crazy. but it’s both funny and interesting nonetheless. keep it up.

  2. I don’t know why I didn’t notice it before, but look at the way Quizz holds the ball. It’s exquisite. It’s also the reason we can’t see the emblem for China’s leading child employer. LMJ might as well throw the ball on the carpet and go chase it.

I looked at last year’s box score, and I just don’t see it happening again. Nine scoring drives is too many–not to mention two pick-sixes. I don’t see them scoring more than five times. But that’s because lost in all the 65-38 re-hashing that’s been going on is the 38 part. Our offense is better. Their defense is worse.

And Quizz gets to play in the national spotlight while staring across the field at someone the whole world is saying is just as good as or better than him.

Have fun with that one Duckies.

I know. I’m trying, but lying down is all I can do.

I’ve got food and beer, and the TV and power bills are paid. Not much else to do but wait.

  3. And does anyone think that Nike is a bad luck charm? The Tiger Woods Platinum Collection has taken on a whole new meaning in the last week. And Air Jerk-wad hasn’t had the best year either.

  4. read this somewhere that these would be the officials for the game
    Referee Michael Batlan
    Umpire Al Granado
    Head linesman Cappy Anderson
    Line Judge Michael Feldman
    Side Judge Shane Anderson
    Feild Judge Kevin Kieser
    Back Judge David Lambros

  5. I just read that the Beavers have won 1 game in Autzen in the past 14 years. That was the 2007 OT game. Yikes. Not a good read on gameday.

  6. Did you know that the Ducks win at Reser last year was their only win @ OSU in the last 13 years? Interesting stat… no? No.

We had Batlan’s crew when we were at ASU. He also worked the USC @ Notre Dame game. They admitted that they missed a call on Notre Dame for substitution before a fake FG. Anyone think we’re going to get any substitution penalties tonight? If we do, it won’t be the ref’s fault.

I sure hope that the Beavs have more success on the Rich Brooks Field at Thomas J. Autzen Stadium than they did last year at Reser Stadium.

    That’s a lot of Beavs.

      • Well, that non-fumble by DJ Woods was a clear missed call that changed that Cincy game. Granted, Riley should have challenged it. I’d take any crew but Jay at this point, and I think the fact that the game is huge and on national TV will have the refs on top of their game. That being said, I really hope Larry Scott cleans up the conference’s officiating.

      • I don’t know that the quick whistle mishap would have saved us against Cincy had it gone the other way. I remember more poor play on the d-line than anything else. Watching Pike stroll around in the pocket was killing me, especially since Canfield seemed to be lying on his back a little too much.

Maybe we could schedule our big non-cons for later in the season.

    • Since I’m not a blind Arizona fan I can’t say this crew is poor by any means. In fact, the Ducks may be a little upset when their o-line gets called for some of the egregious holds they seem to get away with this year. Enlarge the video below and watch the first play–James’ 60 yard TD. If you watch the Ducks’ left guard, you won’t be able to see him pull the DE out of the hole like you would on a regular game view–it’s painfully obvious from the on-field view–but you can see the Stanford defender’s head whip around as he tries to move back to the point of attack. As James crossed the goal line, I thought for sure that the announcer was going to say ‘but it’s coming back’. I’ve watched their left guard (RS Fr York #77) since that play, and this play is one of his better plays.

      • I remember thinking the same thing when I saw the replay as big as day it filled my entire 100 inch projection screen…Stanford guy’s facemask being tugged in the opposite direction he wanted to go, right friggin next to the ball carrier. I can see if he’s 10 yards away, but the closest guy right at the point of attack? More Pac 10 officiating masterpieces…surprised as well that the announcers didn’t say squat.

      • I’ve heard about all these holding calls that aren’t called on as well, but if they haven’t been called for 11 games I doubt they’ll be called on today.

      • Holding can probably be called on every play, but most of it is gripping the defender’s jersey inside his pads. This play was technically a missed facemask. If the Stanford guy was thinking more quickly instead of trying to get back to the hole, he could have pulled a Divac and flopped while York had a hold of his hat.

As I’ve watched more replays, I’m surprised at how bad their left side is. They end up on the ground or looking around for someone to block while the play is happening quite a bit.

  7. An hour away! You guys have fun. I’m going into ez-chair/jumping mode.

Btw… does anyone else think Holtz’ dentures are getting looser on a weekly basis?

  8. Just saw something which makes me feel a little better about our hoops team. With 12 minutes left–on ESPN2–TTech is giving UW fits. Match-ups make comparisons hard, but it’s nice to know that we played a tough team tough… no matter what the outcome.

    OSU – white on black
UO – actual Duck green on white – throwback tops with the same color O helmet and plain white pants.

At least we win the best dressed award… again.
